Abstract

Recent observations of the Galactic component of the high-energy neutrino flux, together with the detection of the diffuse Galactic gamma-ray emission up to sub-PeV energies, open new possibilities to study the acceleration and propagation of cosmic rays in the Milky Way. At the same time, both large non-astrophysical backgrounds at TeV energies and scarcity of neutrino events in the sub-PeV band currently limit these analyses. Here we use the sample of cascade events with estimated neutrino energies above 200 TeV, detected by the partially deployed Baikal Gigaton Volume Detector (GVD) in six years of operation, to test the continuation of the Galactic neutrino spectrum to sub-PeV energies. We find that the distribution of the arrival directions of Baikal-GVD cascades above 200 TeV in the sky suggests an excess of neutrinos from low Galactic latitudes. We find the excess above 200 TeV also in the most recent IceCube public data sets, both of cascades and tracks. The significant (3.6 sigma in the combined analysis) flux of Galactic neutrinos above 200 TeV challenges often-used templates for neutrino search based on cosmic-ray simulations., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, revtex 4.2

Abstract

Pulsar timing arrays can detect continuous nanohertz gravitational waves emitted by individual supermassive black hole binaries. The data analysis procedure can be formulated within a time-domain, state-space framework, in which the radio timing observations are related to a temporal sequence of latent states, namely the intrinsic pulsar spin frequency. The achromatic wandering of the pulsar spin frequency is tracked using a Kalman filter concurrently with the pulse frequency modulation induced by a gravitational wave from a single source. The modulation is the sum of terms proportional to the gravitational wave strain at the Earth and at every pulsar in the array. Here we generalize previous state-space formulations of the pulsar timing array problem to include the pulsar terms; that is, we copy the pulsar terms from traditional, non-state-space analyses over to the state-space framework. The performance of the generalized Kalman filter is tested using astrophysically representative software injections in Gaussian measurement noise. It is shown that including the pulsar terms corrects for previously identified biases in the parameter estimates (especially the sky position of the source) which also arise in traditional matched-filter analyses that exclude the pulsar terms. Additionally, including the pulsar terms decreases the minimum detectable strain by $14\%$. Overall, the study verifies that the pulsar terms do not raise any special extra impediments for the state-space framework, beyond those studied in traditional analyses. Abstract

Continuous nanohertz gravitational waves from individual supermassive black hole binaries may be detectable with pulsar timing arrays. A novel search strategy is developed, wherein intrinsic achromatic spin wandering is tracked simultaneously with the modulation induced by a single gravitational wave source in the pulse times of arrival. A two-step inference procedure is applied within a state-space framework, such that the modulation is tracked with a Kalman filter, which then provides a likelihood for nested sampling. The procedure estimates the static parameters in the problem, such as the sky position of the source, without fitting for ensemble-averaged statistics such as the power spectral density of the timing noise, and therefore complements traditional parameter estimation methods. It also returns the Bayes factor relating a model with a single gravitational wave source to one without, complementing traditional detection methods. It is shown via astrophysically representative software injections in Gaussian measurement noise that the procedure distinguishes a gravitational wave from pure noise down to a characteristic wave strain of $h_0 \approx 2 \times 10^{-15}$. Full posterior distributions of model parameters are recovered and tested for accuracy. There is a bias of $\approx 0.3$ rad in the marginalised one-dimensional posterior for the orbital inclination $\iota$, introduced by dropping the so-called `pulsar terms'. Abstract

Reconstructed tracks of muons produced in neutrino interactions provide the precise probe for the neutrino direction. Therefore, track-like events are a powerful tool to search for neutrino point sources. Recently, Baikal-GVD has demonstrated the first sample of low-energy neutrino candidate events extracted from the data of the season 2019 in a so-called single-cluster analysis - treating each cluster as an independent detector. In this paper, the extension of the track-like event analysis to a wider data set is discussed and the first high-energy track-like events are demonstrated. Abstract

Baikal-GVD (Gigaton Volume Detector) is a neutrino telescope installed at a depth of 1366 m in Lake Baikal. The expedition of 2023 brought the number of optical modules in the array up to 3492 (including experimental strings). These optical modules detect the Cherenkov radiation from secondary charged particles coming from the neutrino interactions. Neutrinos produce different kinds of topologically distinct light signatures. Charged current muon neutrino interactions create an elongated track in the water. Charged and neutral current interactions of other neutrino flavors yield hadronic and electromagnetic cascades. The background in the neutrino cascade channel arises mainly due to discrete stochastic energy losses produced along atmospheric muon tracks. Baikal Gigaton Volume Detector is a cubic kilometer scale neutrino telescope under construction in Lake Baikal. As of July 2023, Baikal-GVD consists of 96 fully deployed strings resulting in 3456 optical modules installed. The observation of neutrinos is based on detection of Cherenkov radiation emitted by the products of neutrino interactions. Abstract

The deployment of the Baikal-GVD deep underwater neutrino telescope is in progress now. About 3500 deep underwater photodetectors (optical modules) arranged into 12 clusters are operating in Lake Baikal. For increasing the efficiency of cascade-like neutrino event detection, the telescope deployment scheme was slightly changed. Namely, the inter-cluster distance was reduced for the newly deployed clusters and additional string of optical modules are added between the clusters. The first inter-cluster string was installed in 2022 and two such strings were installed in 2023. This paper presents a Monte Carlo estimate of the impact of these configuration changes on the cascade detection efficiency as well as technical implementation and results of in-situ tests of the inter-cluster strings., Comment: Presented at the 38th International Cosmic Ray Conference (ICRC 2023)

Abstract

Baikal-GVD is a next generation, kilometer-scale neutrino telescope currently under construction in Lake Baikal. GVD consists of multi-megaton subarrays (clusters) and is designed for the detection of astrophysical neutrino fluxes at energies from a few TeV up to 100 PeV. The large detector volume and modular design of Baikal-GVD allows for the measurements of the astrophysical diffuse neutrino flux to be performed already at early phases of the array construction. Abstract

The Baikal-GVD is a deep-underwater neutrino telescope being constructed in Lake Baikal. After the winter 2023 deployment campaign the detector consists of 3456 optical modules installed on 96 vertical strings. The status of the detector and progress in data analysis are discussed in present report. The Baikal-GVD data collected in 2018-2022 indicate the presence of cosmic neutrino flux in high-energy cascade events consistent with observations by the IceCube neutrino telescope. Analysis of track-like events results in identification of first high-energy muon neutrino candidates. These and other results from 2018-2022 data samples are reviewed in this report.

Abstract

We present the results of the two-year (2021-2022) monitoring of absorption and scattering lengths of light with wavelength 400-620 nm within the effective volume of the deep underwater neutrino telescope Baikal-GVD, which were measured by a device Baikal-5D No.2. The Baikal-5D No.2. was installed during the 2021 winter expedition at a depth of 1180 m. The absorption and scattering lengths were measured every week in 9 spectral points. The device Baikal-5D No.2 also has the ability to measure detailed scattering and absorption spectra. The data obtained make it possible to estimate the range of changes in the absorption and scattering lengths over a sufficiently long period of time and to investigate the relationship between the processes of changes in absorption and scattering. An analysis was made of changes in absorption and scattering spectra for the period 2021-2022.

Abstract

The Baikal-GVD neutrino detector is a deep-underwater neutrino telescope under construction and recently after the winter 2023 deployment it consists of 3456 optical modules attached on 96 vertical strings. This 3-dimensional array of photo-sensors allows to observe ambient light in the vicinity of the Baikal-GVD telescope that is associated mostly with water luminescence. Results on time and space variations of the luminescent activity are reviewed based on data collected in 2018-2022.

Abstract

Background. The current development of the postgraduate pedagogical education system is determined by increasing requirements for the professional competence of teachers and by new semantic guidelines relating to their activity-role and personal characteristics. The personalized model of advanced training for teachers, implemented in institutions of the additional professional education in St. Petersburg, totally takes into account these trends and is developing in accordance with them. Besides, this model is based on the mainstream methodology that is the deficit approach which involves carrying out monitoring procedures to identify teachers’ methodological and subject deficiencies and designing the professional development taking into account the results of these procedures. One of the promising options for organizing classes with teachers is the use of scenario-type educational technologies. Purpose. The purpose of the research is thesubstantiation of effective using the scenario-type educational technologies in the implementation of an advanced training personalized model for teachers of foreign languages. Materials and methods. The main theoretical method of the research is modeling; the leading empirical method is the collection and accumulation of data (observation, questioning, analyses of teachers’ activity output and their work experience). The article is based on a set of sources presented by statutory regulations, scientific articles and methodological materials on the topic of research.Разработанная модель была внедрена в практику работы, а также проверена на основе методики BARS, аспект Assessment. The designed model was implemented into practice as well as tested on the basis of the BARS methodology, Assessment aspect. Results. The system of postgraduate teacher education is currently developing in accordance with the latest requirements and challenges of our time to the level of teachers’ professional competencies. One of the priority demands is to personalize the process of professional development for teachers and focus on compensating for their professional deficiencies. Therefore, it seems methodologically justified to build the educational process on the basis of the deficit approach taking into account the methodological and subject deficiencies for the teachers of foreign languages.The requirement to personalize the process of advanced training can be effectively fulfilled on the basis of the implication of the deficit approach with a scenario approach, which involves using scenarios that is real situations of professional interaction. The methodological and technological solution in this case is the applying of scenario-type educational technologies in the implementation of the advanced training personalized model for teachers of foreign languages.These educational technologies can be classified into two large groups: technologies of group dynamics and technologies of dialogue-professional scenarios. The testing of educational technologies “vortex groups”, “gamification”, “conversation in four corners” and “cubing” in the implementation of additional professional education programs included in the order register of the Education Committee of St. Petersburg for 2024 has proven their effectiveness on the BARS scale, Assessment aspect.

22. Perception of the Prosodic Formative of Multimodal Affective States

Abstract

The features of the expression and perception of vocal expressions as one of the forming multimodal affective states of a person are studied. The experiment, designed on the basis of the Russian-language version of the Geneva Emotion Recognition Test (GERT), involved two groups of women aged 18-45, 72 women each. One group was shown audio-video clips of 14 affective states, lasting 3-5 seconds, played by 10 professional actors according to the Stanislavsky system. The other group was presented with audio clips extracted from the same clips through headphones. It was demanded to recognize the state of the actors using an interactive image of the Geneva Emotion Wheel. It is shown that vocal expressions differ from the corresponding multimodal states by a low average accuracy of expression and identification, a different configuration and a high spread of estimates, a closer dependence on the degree of arousal, individual ways of expression and a fuzzy extended structure of categorical fields. The range of possibilities that vocal expressions have, ready to be included in cross-modal integrations, is indicated.

Abstract

Introduction. The introduction of devices – analogues of GIS (hereinafter–- Gastro-intestinal simulator) is one of the current ways to develop in-vitro assessment of the quality of solid dosage forms. Testing on a physiologically relevant test device (hereinafter referred to as PRT) makes it possible to predict pharmacokinetic profiles due to more relevant conditions, including the use of biorelevant dissolution media, physiological volumes of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as transit between them.Aim. Conduct a study of cladribine tablets on a physiologically relevant tester in order to predict the behavior of the drug in the human gastrointestinal tract.Materials and methods. The objects of the study are "Mavenclad®, tablets, 10 mg" (series 2200754, expiration date until 04.2025, NERPHARMA, S.r.L., Italy) and "Cladribine, tablets, 10 mg" of domestic production with valid expiration date. During the study, the reagents necessary for the preparation of biorelevant dissolution media and quantitative determination by HPLC. Physiologically relevant test were carried out using an apparatus of our own production, consisting of a DT-6 dissolution tester (ERWEKA GmbH, Germany), a water bath equipped with a Thermomix WB-4 heating element (B. Braun, Germany), and peristaltic pumps (Kamoer, China). The quantitative content of released cladribine was assessed using a highly efficient liquid chromatograph "Khromatek-Kristall HPLC 2014" (ZAO SKB "Khromatek", Russia) using a validated method at a wavelength of 252 nm, analysis time – 7 min, column – Grace HPLC Column Platinum C18-EPS, 250 × 4.6 mm, 5 mm (Grace, USA), temperature – 35 °C, elution mode – isocratic (A : B 80 : 20), mobile phase A – 0.1 % H3PO4 solution, phase B – acetonitrile.Results and discussion. Profiles were obtained to assess the dynamics and degree of release of the studied drugs in various parts of the human gastrointestinal tract. Despite the expected degradation of cladribine in an acidic environment (pH1.2), under physiologically relevant conditions, the drug reached the third section (small intestine model) without degradation. Complete release of cladribine from the test and reference dosage forms was observed. Also, in the future, based on the data obtained, it is possible to predict pharmacokinetic profiles using physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling approaches.Conclusion. A PSF study was conducted for the drugs "Mavenclad®, tablets, 10 mg" and "Cladribine, tablets, 10 mg". Quantitative determination was carried out by HPLC-UV method. The test results showed complete release of both drugs and reaching the intestinal tract, indicating the absence of degradation of cladribine in the region simulating the stomach.

Introduction. The most important stage of pharmaceutical development of a generic drug is a clinical trial involving humans – a bioequivalence study. Considering the importance of finding rivaroxaban drugs in the list of vital and essential drugs, as part of ensuring technological sovereignty, the use of scientific robust and effective methods for determining the quality of the dosage form is required.Aim. Conduct a study of rivaroxaban tablets on a physiologically relevant tester to predict pharmacokinetic profiles.Materials and methods. The objects of the study are "Xarelto®, film-coated tablets, 10 mg" (series BXJS871, with an expiration date of October 31, 2024, Bayer AG, Germany), "Xarelto®, film-coated tablets, 20 mg" (series BXKDF32, with an expiration date of May 17, 2026, Bayer AG, Germany) and "Rivaroxaban, film-coated tablets, 10 mg" and "Rivaroxaban, film-coated tablets, 20 mg", domestically produced, with valid expiration dates. During the study, reagents were used to prepare dissolution media and perform quantitative determination. The physiologically relevant test was performed on the SC PRT-6 device (LLC "Scientific Compliance", Russia). The quantitative content of released rivaroxaban within the comparative dissolution kinetics test in a medium of 0.1 in a medium of 0.1 % sodium lauryl sulfate solution in a phosphate buffer solution pH 6.5 was carried out on a SF-2000 spectrophotometer (LLC "OKB Spektr", Russia). The quantitative content of released rivaroxaban within the comparative dissolution kinetics test in biorelevant dissolution media and physiological relevance test was assessed on a high-performance liquid chromatograph "Chromatec-Crystal HPLC 2014" (CJSC "Chromatec", Russia). Pharmacokinetic profiles were modeled in the PK-Sim® (Systems Biology Software Suite 11.2, Bayer Technology Services GmbH, Germany) program based on the data obtained within the physiologically relevant test. The clinical study of rivaroxaban tablets was a prospective, open-label, randomized, crossover, two-stage comparative study in two groups of volunteers with a single dose of drugs on the fast condition. The study randomized 30 healthy male volunteers aged 18–45 years.Results and discussion. A complex of in vitro tests was conducted, profiles were obtained that allow us to evaluate the dynamics and degree of release of the studied drugs in various parts of the human gastrointestinal tract. A comparison of the sequential and hybrid schemes for conducting the physiological relevance test was carried out. Within the framework of the set of tests, qualitative and quantitative correlation with the clinical trials data was observed only for the hybrid physiological relevance test scheme. Based on the results of physiological relevance test using different schemes, pharmacokinetic profiles for a pair of drugs were predicted and the prediction error was assessed.Conclusion. A set of scientific in vitro tests was conducted for the drugs "Xarelto®, film-coated tablets, 10 mg and 20 mg", "Rivaroxaban, film-coated tablets, 10 mg and 20 mg". Based on the physiological relevance test results, pharmacokinetic profiles for a pair of drugs were predicted with low error and high reliability. As part of the comparison of data obtained during clinical trial and modeling, the smallest prediction error was noted when performing physiological relevance test using a hybrid scheme.

Introduction. Deferasirox is a complexing drug and belongs to class II according to the biopharmaceutical classification system (BCS), has acidic properties and belongs to subclass “a” (acid). This class is characterized by high permeability and low solubility, which limits the absorption of the active substance into the blood. As a result, the development of drugs with an active substance that can be assigning BCS to this class is a difficult task, and for generic drugs it is also associated with a high risk of obtaining unproven equivalence during clinical trials. To minimize the above risks, a physiologically relevant test was carried out with further data processing and construction of putative pharmacokinetic profiles.Aim. The aim of the study is to conduct a physiologically relevant test (PRT) to predict in vitro pharmacokinetic profiles and compare them with in vivo data as part of a bioequivalence study of deferasirox.Materials and methods. The objects of the study are "Deferasirox, film-coated tablets, 360 mg" of a domestic manufacturer and "Jadenu®, film-coated tablets, 360 mg" (WTN22 series, expiration date until 10.2023, Novartis Pharma Stein AG, Switzerland). A physiologically relevant test was performed on the device SC PRT-6, Compliance. Quantitative analysis was carried out by HPLC-UV method.Pharmacokinetic profiles were modeled using PK-Sim® (Systems Biology Software Suite 11.2, Bayer Technology Services GmbH, Germany) based on data obtained from physiologically relevant test.Results and discussion. A physiologically relevant drug test for deferasirox was performed and release profiles were obtained, which formed the basis of a physiologically based pharmacokinetic model together with data on the physicochemical properties of the studied compound and literature data on the pharmacokinetics of deferasirox. The pharmacokinetic profiles obtained as part of the simulation on a virtual population were compared with data obtained during clinical trials.Conclusion. A physiologically relevant test for the drug deferasirox was carried out, quantitative determination in the samples was carried out by HPLC-UV. The test resulted in data that allowed prediction of pharmacokinetic profiles that reflected the same differences observed in the profiles of the test and reference drug in the comparative pharmacokinetics and bioequivalence study of deferasirox drugs.

Introduction. Sorafenib is an antineoplastic drug belonging to class IIc according to the biopharmaceutical classification system (BCS) due to the presence of both acidic and basic properties. In addition to low solubility, sorafenib is characterized by high variability during clinical trials, in particular bioequivalence studies (BE). To selecting batches that can be recommended for BE studies, the dissolution kinetics test is currently widely used, however, the results of this test are not always sufficient and additional tests, for example, a physiologically relevant test, are advisable. To minimize the risks of obtaining nonequivalent results during the BE study, a physiologically relevant test (PRT) was carried out with further data processing and interpretation of the results of physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling (PBPK).Aim. The aim of the study is to conduct a physiologically relevant test (PRT) for the purpose of selecting a candidate batch for subsequent BE study of sorafenib drugs using the physiologically based pharmacokinetic model (PBPK).Materials and methods. The objects of the study are Nexavar®, film-coated tablets, 200 mg (Bayer AG, Germany) (one batch) and Sorafenib, film-coated tablets, 200 mg (two batches) (Russia). The physiologically relevant test was performed on the SC PRT-6 device (LLC "Scientific Compliance", Russia). Quantitative analysis was performed by HPLC-UV on the Chromatec-Crystal HPLC 2014 device (CJSC "Chromatec", Russia). The plasma concentration profiles were simulated using PK-Sim® software (Systems Biology Software Suite 11.2, Bayer Technology Services GmbH, Germany).Results and discussion. As part of the study, a method for the quantitative determination of sorafenib was developed and validated, a method for sample preparation was developed, and a method for conducting the PRT for sorafenib, as a representative of the IIc subclass of BCS, was developed. Based on the study results, release profiles were obtained that were used to select a candidate series for the BE study. The series were selected based on the PBPK analysis on a virtual population consisting of 36 healthy volunteers with activated enteropathic circulation, characteristic of sorafenib.Conclusion. The PRT was carried out for the drug sorafenib. Quantitative determination was carried out by HPLC-UV according to the developed and validated method. The test resulted in obtaining data that were subjected to PBPK analysis. It was shown that the studied batches have high risks of non-equivalence during the bioequivalence study.

Abstract

We present the results of a statistical study of transient enhancements of electrons with energies >30 keV at low drift shells in the quasi-trapped region (forbidden zone) at the geomagnetic equator. Using data from low-altitude NOAA/POES and MetOp satellites, we have compiled a catalog of events with forbidden energetic electron (FEE) enhancements for the period from 1998 to 2023. Statistical analysis of FEE events has revealed solar-cyclic, as well as seasonal and diurnal variations in the occurrence of FEE enhancements. We have examined the correlation of the annual frequency of FEE events with solar activity, solar wind parameters, and geomagnetic activity. Strong correlations have been found with the F10.7 index of solar activity (radio emission flux) as well as with the Alfvén Mach number (solar wind parameter). Abstract

We present a new procedure for time calibration of the Baikal-GVD neutrino telescope. The track reconstruction quality depends on accurate measurements of arrival times of Cherenkov photons. Therefore, it is crucial to achieve a high precision in time calibration. For that purpose, in addition to other calibration methods, we employ a new procedure using atmospheric muons reconstructed in a single-cluster mode. The method is based on iterative determination of effective time offsets for each optical module. This paper focuses on the results of the iterative reconstruction procedure with time offsets from the previous iteration and the verification of the method developed. Abstract

The Baikal-GVD alert system was launched at the beginning of 2021. There are alerts for muon neutrinos (long upward-going track-like events) and all-flavour neutrinos (high-energy cascades). The system is able to get a preliminary response to external alerts with a temporal delay of about 3-10 minutes. The Baikal-GVD data processing and the results of the follow-up procedure are described. We report on the analysis of the coincidence in time and direction between the Baikal-GVD cascade GVD20211208CA with an estimated energy of 43 TeV and the announced alert IceCube211208A possibly associated with a flaring state of the blazar PKS 0735+178., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

We report on the observation of a rare neutrino event detected by Baikal-GVD in April 2021. The event GVD210418CA is the highest-energy cascade observed by Baikal-GVD so far from the direction below the horizon. The estimated cascade energy is $224\pm75$~TeV. The evaluated signalness parameter of GVD210418CA is 97.1\% using an assumption of the E$^{-2.46}$ spectrum of astrophysical neutrinos. The arrival direction of GVD210418CA is near the position of the well-known radio blazar TXS~0506+056, with the angular distance being within a 90\% directional uncertainty region of the Baikal-GVD measurement. Abstract

Baikal-GVD has recently published its first measurement of the diffuse astrophysical neutrino flux, performed using high-energy cascade-like events. We further explore the Baikal-GVD cascade dataset collected in 2018-2022, with the aim to identify possible associations between the Baikal-GVD neutrinos and known astrophysical sources. We leverage the relatively high angular resolution of the Baikal-GVD neutrino telescope (2-3 deg.), made possible by the use of liquid water as the detection medium, enabling the study of astrophysical point sources even with cascade events. We estimate the telescope's sensitivity in the cascade channel for high-energy astrophysical sources and refine our analysis prescriptions using Monte-Carlo simulations. We primarily focus on cascades with energies exceeding 100 TeV, which we employ to search for correlation with radio-bright blazars. Although the currently limited neutrino sample size provides no statistically significant effects, our analysis suggests a number of possible associations with both extragalactic and Galactic sources. Specifically, we present an analysis of an observed triplet of neutrino candidate events in the Galactic plane, focusing on its potential connection with certain Galactic sources, and discuss the coincidence of cascades with several bright and flaring blazars., Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS

Abstract

Introduction. The aggravation of migration problems both in Russia and in other countries actualizes the study of migration relations, identifying the causes and consequences of emerging problems. Research methodology. The research is based on a systematic approach, as well as provisions on the correlation of objective contradictions, problems and conflicts. Results. The manifestation of internal contradictions of various elements of the migration relations system, as well as contradictions between the elements of this system, in the problems of migration is revealed. In this aspect, the problems of shadow and unstable employment of migrants, the problems of migrants’ social dependency, the contradictory influence of migration on demographic processes and socio-economic development of Russia, on the preservation of Russian identity are considered. It is proved that adequate forms of resolving contradictions in the system of migration relations do not allow problems to escalate into conflicts, but promote equal coexistence of representatives of various national ethnic groups and cultures on the territory of Russia, effective participation of migrants in the economic, social and cultural life of Russian society. Migration flows have a contradictory effect on solving problems in the field of socio-economic development of the country: they stabilize the situation with labor resources, and reduce the quality of the workforce; resolve the contradiction between the needs of demographic reproduction of the Russian population and natural population decline and pose a threat to the preservation of Russian identity, etc. Conclusion. The imperfection of migration policy, its inadequacy to the challenges of the current migration situation, the lack of adequate forms of resolving the contradictions of this system lies at the heart of the aggravation of problems and tensions in migration relations, and the emergence of conflicts. Due to the fact that conflicts can lead to the intensification of extremist and terrorist activities with devastating consequences, in order to avoid them, society and the state must learn how to prevent conflicts in a timely manner and successfully resolve them so that migration processes can realize their positive potential.

Abstract

Accumulation of persistent organochlorine pesticides (OCP) in fat tissue was examined for the mammals found released ashore along the Crimean coast of the Black Sea in 2018–2022. This group of animals is positioned at the top of food chain in the local marine ecosystem. Statistically significant dependence of the accumulation on sex (males are more contaminated than females) and age (adults and juveniles are more contaminated than calves and neonates) is found. Besides, the pesticides concentration in fat from dorsal tissue is generally higher than in fat from caudal stem, but the difference is not significant. In the tissue of harbor porpoises and common dolphins, the mean OCP concentration decreased in the order: p,p′-DDE > β-HCH > p,p′-DDD > p,p′-DDT, whereas bottlenose dolphins had the order: p,p′-DDE > p,p′-DDD > β-HCH > p,p′-DDT. The most common metabolites were DDE, and their accumulation was the highest. The concentration of DDD was considerably lower, and significant accumulation of DDT was observed rarely, so the mean concentration of these group of metabolites was the lowest.

Abstract

Background. Gamartoma occupies a special place among solitary lung masses not requiring active surgical tactics: structural heterogeneity due to inclusions of fat density and calcinates presents an opportunity to identify pathognomonic computed tomographic (CT) signs. However, their absence in conjunction with CT picture inherent in malignant neoplasms can cause biopsies and surgical interventions that are not necessary according to the results of histologic examination.Objective: to perform a cohort retrospective analysis of pulmonary hamartoma CT semiotics.Маterial and methods. We analyzed 142 cases of lung hamartomas detected at the Saint Petersburg Research Institute of Phthisiopulmonology from 2013 to 2023, confirmed histologically or with a follow-up period of more than 600 days, without endobronchial location and other foci/formations in the lungs, without contrast enhancement evaluation.Results. The results of data statistical analysis of patients with pulmonary hamartoma with distribution by gender and age were described. The occurrence rate was established for such hamartoma CT features as mass type, contour features, changes in the surrounding lung tissue, the largest diameter, density, calcination type with examples on CT images. Localizations of hamartomas in relation to the lung, its lobes and segments were considered. Four hamartoma clusters depending on fat and calcination combination in the structure were identified and illustrated. The size distribution of hamartomas from each cluster within the given ranges was also presented.Conclusion. Lung hamartomas are solid-type masses without preferential localization in lung segments, with the possibility of detection at any age. In a significant proportion of cases (43.7%) hamartomas did not have any structural features, which allow, according to CT data, to convincingly classify them as benign masses and avoid surgical resection. Only in 12% of cases hamartomas had structural changes considered highly pathognomonic for their classification as benign masses.

Abstract

The deployment of the Baikal-GVD deep underwater neutrino telescope is continuing in Lake Baikal. By April 2022, ten clusters of the telescope were put into operation, with 2880 optical modules in total. One of the relevant tasks in this context is to study the possibilities of increasing the efficiency of the detector based on the experience of its operation and the results obtained at other neutrino telescopes in recent years. In this paper, a variant of optimizing the configuration of the telescope is considered, based on the installation of additional strings of optical modules between the clusters (external strings). An experimental version of the external string was installed in Lake Baikal in April 2022. This paper presents a first estimate of the impact of adding external strings on the neutrino detection efficiency, as well as the technical implementation of the detection and data acquisition systems of the external string and first results of its in-situ tests., Comment: 12 pages, in Russian language, 7 figures, 1 Table

Abstract

We report on the first observation of the diffuse cosmic neutrino flux with the Baikal-GVD neutrino telescope. Using cascade-like events collected by Baikal-GVD in 2018--2021, a significant excess of events over the expected atmospheric background is observed. This excess is consistent with the high-energy diffuse cosmic neutrino flux observed by IceCube. The null cosmic flux assumption is rejected with a significance of 3.05$\sigma$. Assuming a single power law model of the astrophysical neutrino flux with identical contribution from each neutrino flavor, the following best-fit parameter values are found: the spectral index $\gamma_{astro}$ = $2.58^{+0.27}_{-0.33}$ and the flux normalization $\phi_{astro}$ = 3.04$^{+1.52}_{-1.21}$ per one flavor at 100 TeV., Comment: 9 pages; 5 figures; 2 tables

Abstract

Abstract Aluminum matrix composites (AMCs), incorporating Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) as reinforcing additives, demonstrate immense promise for applications in aerospace, automotive, and power generation due to their unique combination of low density, superior mechanical properties, and excellent thermal/electrical conductivity. This study explores the influence of ZrN reinforcement on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AlSi10Mg metal-matrix composites. Utilizing high-energy ball milling (HEBM) and spark-plasma sintering (SPS), ZrN/AlSi10Mg composites were synthesized, achieving nearly full density with uniform ZrN distribution, while phase and chemical transformations were not observed in the bulk composites. The addition of ZrN resulted in a notable increase in hardness of 237% (182 ± 8 HV2), elastic modulus of 56% (114 ± 3 GPa), compressive and tensile strength of 183% (565 ± 15 GPa), and 125% (387 ± 9 GPa), respectively, for composites containing 30% ZrN, compared to the non-reinforced alloy. Experimentally determined coefficients of thermal expansion (CTEs) for composites with 10%, 20%, and 30% ZrN content were 19.8 × 10−6 °C−1, 19.1 × 10−6 °C−1, and 18 × 10−6 °C−1, respectively, which well relates to Schapery’s model. These findings contribute to understanding the synthesis, mechanical behavior, and thermal properties of ZrN/AlSi10Mg composites, demonstrating their potential for diverse engineering applications.
