Purpose: To evaluate four decontamination strategies utilizing enzymatic agents available in most clinical settings to determine (1) the amount of biomaterial that can be removed in a group of previously used healing abutments (uHAs) and (2) the degree to which the decontaminated HAs are capable of inducing an inflammatory response in vitro compared to new HAs. Materials and Methods: In total, 50 HAs were collected following 2 to 4 weeks of intraoral use and distributed randomly into five test groups (groups A-E; n = 10 per group). Group A used enzymatic cleaner foam and an autoclave. Group B used an ultrasonic bath with enzymatic cleaner and an autoclave. Group C used a prophy jet, enzymatic cleaner foam, and an autoclave. Group D used a prophy jet, an ultrasonic bath with enzymatic cleaner, and an autoclave. Lastly, group E used a prophy jet and an autoclave. The control group consisted of 10 new and sterile HAs. Residual protein concentration was determined by a Micro BCA protein assay (Thermo Fisher Scientific), while HAs from each group were stained with Phloxine B and macroscopically examined for the presence of debris. To examine the inflammatory potential, human primary macrophages were exposed to HAs, and supernatant levels of nine cytokine and chemokine profiles were analyzed using a multiplex bead assay. Results: All test groups showed differences in the degree of visual decontamination compared to controls. Groups D and E displayed the most effective surface debris removal and reduced protein concentration, while group A was the least effective. However, compared to controls, all test groups showed high levels of inflammatory cytokine secretion via multiplex assay for up to 5 days. Conclusions: Our study found that decontamination of uHAs utilizing enzymatic cleaners failed to reestablish inert HA surfaces and prevent an inflammatory immune response in vitro. Purpose: To determine and compare the frequency of contamination on different sites of healing abutments (HAs) a=er steriliza3on with Phloxine B dye on unused and used HAs a=er steriliza3on. Materials and Methods: A total of 60 HAs were divided into two test groups: (1) used and sterilized and (2) a control group (unused). The test group was evaluated for contamina3on a=er steriliza3on; the control group did not undergo any procedure. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 22 (IBM). Descrip3ve sta3s3cs were used to determine the frequency of contamina3on in the different groups and at the different HA sites. Chi-square test was used to evaluate the association of frequency of contamination with the HA site and design. The level of significance was kept at P ≤ .01. Results: The test group showed more contamination compared to the control group. The most contaminated sites were the screw thread and the screwdriver engagement location. Conclusions: HA reuse is cost-effective, but cleaning and sterilization was not effective for these components; thus, HAs need to be reused with caution because they were heavily contaminated when compared to new HAs. • The operational characteristics and virus risk levels of different work areas in the first level cold storage, as well as the disinfection process of personnel and cold chain goods from entering to leaving the cold storage. • The characteristics of virus aerosol transmission during the unloading process of imported cold chain goods. • The five-in-one method and the closed-loop cold storage disinfection system of "Human-Cargo-Apparatus-Waste" are proposed for the imported cold chain. During the period of COVID-19, the health problems caused by the contamination of imported cold chain food by pathogenic microorganisms attracted widespread attention, which brought new risks and challenges to cold chain products. The traditional liquid disinfection method has obviously been unable to meet the existing disinfection and sterilization needs, and establishing a complete set of cold chain product disinfection system has become the focus of research. This paper takes the process of importing cold chain food from Tianjin's primary cold storage as an example, and proposes the closed-loop cold storage disinfection system of "Human-Cargo-Apparatus-Waste". The establishment of the disinfection system determined the working characteristics of different areas of the primary cold storage and the risk level of virus transmission through on-site analysis and simulated aerosol diffusion experiments. According to the characteristics of different working areas in the cold storage, targeted sealing measures and disinfection techniques are adopted. It can effectively ensure the complete disinfection of cold chain products and avoid the negative impact of disinfection and sterilization methods. The expected research results provide certain technical support for the development and application of safe virus elimination throughout the entire process of imported cold chain. Introduction Point of use (POU) treatment is a critical first step of medical device reprocessing. Reusable instruments and flexible endoscopes require a minimum of terminal sterilization or high-level disinfection, neither of which can be guaranteed if POU is performed incorrectly. Compliance considerations for POU include hospital accreditation readiness, unique austere surgical mission requirements, and the transition of future conflict towards Large Scale Combat Operations. This integrative review aims to describe POU for reusable instruments and endoscopes, and extrapolate implications for Military Health System policies and future considerations. Materials and methods The authors performed an integrative review and comprehensive literature search in PubMed and CINAHL with the keywords "point of use," "point of use cleaning," "POU," "instrument," "high-level disinfection," "endoscope," and "clean." Articles were limited to "English" and "human" from 2017 to 2023. The authors also performed a thorough review of the Defense Health Agency and service-specific doctrine, as well as national guidelines regarding POU adherence. Results The literature review yielded 18 articles that discussed the transport and reprocessing of reusable medical devices. Regulatory standards and national guidelines were used to supplement the literature. Seventeen evidence-based criteria were extrapolated from the literature to generate two step-by-step guides for the POU treatment of endoscopes and reusable instruments (Tables I and II). Despite increased morbidity and mortality rates linked to inadequate device reprocessing, compliance with POU procedures remains low. Barriers to practice included complex POU processes, intricately designed surgical instruments and endoscopes, lack of healthcare worker (HCW) knowledge and competency, and inadequate or ambiguously written policies. Training, competency assessments, and clearly written policies and procedures can be cost-effective, evidence-based, and feasible solutions. Conclusion Completing POU treatment is critical to a successful surgical mission in both the hospital and austere environment. We present a comprehensive review of the various challenges that individuals with visual impairment (VI) face during the COVID-19 pandemic. A structured review was done using online databases PubMed, EMBASE, and grey literature databases between 19 April 2021 and 4 August 2021, using search terms 'COVID-19', 'SARS-CoV-2', 'Coronavirus', or 'pandemic' combined with 'visually impaired', 'visual impairment', or 'Blind'. Studies included were written in English, published after the World Health Organization (WHO) declaration of the COVID-19 Pandemic (11 March 2020), and focused on the VI population during the pandemic. The initial search yielded 702 publications, of which 20 met our inclusion criteria and were included in analysis. Emotional distress from deteriorating mental health and social isolation were considerably higher in the VI population. For a community that relies on spatial awareness and touch, regulations related to social distancing and avoiding contact were considerable barriers. Further challenges were noted in accessing healthcare, care, receiving timely health information and changes in regulations, adequately sanitizing, using technology, and completing activities of daily living. In the unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the VI community has faced unique challenges. A more holistic and inclusive approach needs to be adopted to ensure that more vulnerable populations are adequately cared for. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Statement of Problem Purpose Materials and Methods Results Conclusions Osseointegration is now primarily established, but soft tissue integration is still susceptible to failure and problematic on implant surfaces. So, implant dentistry is increasingly focusing on improving peri‐implant soft tissue integration.The present study aimed to evaluate the blood fibrin clot formation and adhesion on the abutment after cleaning and decontamination and determine the suitable abutment surface associated with fibrin clot attachment.Forty‐two abutments (14 per group) were used in the present study: a brand‐new (BN), contaminated with biofilm (CO) and decontaminated with an enzymatic cleaner and autoclave sterilization (DEC). For a fibrin clot, 9 mL of whole human blood and abutments was centrifuged at 2700 rpm for 12 min. Clots were divided into two parts for histomorphometry and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. Twelve abutments disconnected from the clot and two not treated with blood were observed under SEM.Residual debris and biofilm were observed on the abutment surface in the CO group but not in other groups. Healthy and organized fibrin clots formed on all abutments. The fibrin extension areas are distributed uniformly in BN and DEC groups but irregularly in CO. The surface percentage of the fibrin clot extensions was 41.76% ± 6.73, 26.99% ± 6.40, and 37.83% ± 9.72 for the BN, CON, and DEC groups, respectively. The blood clot‐attached areas in the CO group were statistically lower than the other groups. No difference was observed between the BN and DEC groups.This study confirmed that surface contamination could influence blood clot attachment on the abutment surfaces. Plastic pollution is a problem that threatens the future of humanity, and various methods are being researched to solve it. Plastic biodegradation using microorganisms is one of these methods, and a recent study reported that plastic-degrading microorganisms activated by plasma increase the plastic decomposition rate. In contrast to microbial sterilization using low-temperature plasma, microbial activation requires a stable plasma discharge with a low electrode temperature suitable for biological samples and precise control over a narrow operating range. In this study, various plasma characteristics were evaluated using SDBD (Surface Dielectric Barrier Discharge) to establish the optimal conditions of plasma that can activate plastic-degrading microorganisms. The SDBD electrode was manufactured using low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology to ensure chemical resistance, minimize impurities, improve heat conduction, and consider freedom in designing the electrode metal part. Plasma stability, which is important for microbial activation, was investigated by changing the frequency and pulse width of the voltage applied to the electrode, and the degree of activation of plastic-degrading microorganisms was evaluated under each condition. The electrosynthesis of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) via two‐electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e−‐ORR) enables high energy utilization and distributed H2O2 production. Rational catalyst design is essential for achieving efficient H2O2 production, in which fluorine‐modified carbon materials hold great potential. However, conventional methods can only induce limited loading of fluorine atoms in carbon‐based catalysts, leading to unsatisfying electrochemical performance. Herein, the design of fluorine‐containing active sites with high density and high 2e−‐ORR selectivity is achieved by loading fluorine‐containing chained polytetrafluoroethylene precursors onto conductive carbon substrates by plasma‐assisted ball milling technique. Consequently, the defect‐rich PTFE@CNTs show a high selectivity of over 95% and a high H2O2 yield of more than 35 mol g−1 h−1. Furthermore, the electrochemical production of H2O2 can be readily integrated with water purification units to decompose contaminants, showing over 80% degradation of multiple dyes within 1 h and over 95% removal ratio of antibiotics within 4 h. In addition, 100% sterilization of staphylococcus aureus is achieved by on‐site accumulating H2O2 in commercial saline for only 30 min. This defect engineering strategy through plasma ball milling provides a promising and universal avenue toward designing highly active and efficient electrocatalysts for 2e−‐ORR as well as other electrochemical processes. Background: The post-insertion maintenance of central venous catheters(CVCs)is a common, vital procedure undertaken by nurses. Existing literature lacks a comprehensive review of evidence adoption for CVCs post-insertion maintenance specifically within the oncology context. This investigation assessed evidence-based practice by oncology nurses in the care of CVCs, elucidating facilitators and obstacles to this adoption process. Methods: This was a sequential explanatory mixed methods study, executed from May 2022 to April 2023, adhering to the GRAMMS checklist. The study commenced with a cross-sectional study through clinical observation that scrutinized the adoption of scientific evidence for CVC maintenance, analyzing 1314 records from five hospitals in China. Subsequently, a semi-structured, in-depth interview with nurses based on the i-PARIHS framework was conducted to ascertain facilitators and barriers to evidence adoption for CVCs post-insertion maintenance. Fifteen nurses were recruited through purposive sampling. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize quantitative data, while content analysis was used to analyze qualitative data. Results: An overall compliance rate of 90.0% was observed; however, two domains exhibited a lower adoption rate of less than 80%, namely disinfection of infusion connector and disinfection of skin and catheter. Three barriers and two facilitators were discerned from the interviews. Barriers encompassed (1) difficulty in accessing the evidence, (2) lack of involvement from nurse specialists, and (3) challenges from internal and external environments. Facilitators comprised (1) the positive attitudes of specialist nurses toward evidence application, and (2) the formation of a team specializing in intravenous therapy within hospitals. Conclusion: There exists a significant opportunity to improve the adoption of evidence-based practices for CVC maintenance. Considering the identified barriers and facilitators, targeted interventions should be conceived and implemented at the organizational level to augment oncology evidence-based practice, especially the clinical evidence pertinent to infection control protocols. Background: Competency of the staff working in infection prevention and control (IPC) is the cornerstone of successful IPC programs. The objective was to assess competency level and associated factors among IPC staff working in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in 2019 among active IPC staff who were members of the Arab Countries Infection Control Network. The questionnaire covered demographic and professional characteristics of IPC staff and characteristics of work facilities and IPC programs. A competency score was created from self-perceived responses to 8 competency domains. The competency score was then transformed into 100-scale and categorized into two groups (≥ median and < median). Results: A total of 176 participants completed the survey. Participants were mostly female (65.7%), and the mean age was 40.2 ± 8.3 years. The mean competency score was 61.4%. It was slightly variable between domains, being highest with preventing transmission of infection (65%) and lowest with sterilization and disinfection (59%). Higher (≥ median) competency score was associated with having CBIC certification (p < 0.001). It was also associated with facilities having IPC plan (p = 0.005), IPC committee (p = 0.049), regular meetings of IPC committee (p < 0.001), and IPC plan included communications with healthcare workers (p < 0.001). Domain-specific competency scores were significantly associated with receiving same domain-specific training (p < 0.05 for all). Conclusions: The competency levels of IPC staff in the MENA region is still suboptimal. The current finding calls for more regional and national investment in IPC staff by providing up-to-date customized educational and training opportunities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, a hollow tubulous-shaped In2O3 derived from MIL (MIL-68 (In)) exhibited an enhanced specific surface area compared to MIL. To further sensitize In2O3, ZnIn2S4 was grown in situ on the derived In2O3. The 40In2O3/ZnIn2S4 composite (1 mmol ZnIn2S4 loaded on 40 mg In2O3) exhibited degradation rates of methyl orange (MO) under visible light (80 mW·cm−2, 150 min) that were 17.9 and 1.4 times higher than those of the pure In2O3 and ZnIn2S4, respectively. Moreover, the 40In2O3/ZnIn2S4 exhibited an obviously improved antibacterial performance against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, with an antibacterial rate of 99.8% after visible light irradiation of 80 mW cm−2 for 420 min. The 40In2O3/ZnIn2S4 composite showed the highest photocurrent density, indicating an enhanced separation of photogenerated charge carriers. Electron spin resonance results indicated that the 40In2O3/ZnIn2S4 composite generated both ·O2− and ·OH radicals under visible light, whereas ·OH radicals were almost not detected in ZnIn2S4 alone, suggesting the presence of a Z-scheme heterojunction between In2O3 and ZnIn2S4, thereby enhancing the degradation and antibacterial capabilities of the composite. 3D printing has become widespread for the manufacture of parts in various industries and enabled radically new designs. This trend has not spread to bioprocess development yet, due to a lack of material suitable for the current workflow, including sterilization by autoclaving. This work demonstrates that commercially available heat temperature stable poly-lactic acid (PLA) can be used to easily manufacture novel bioreactor vessels with included features like harvest tubes and 3D printed spargers. Temperature responsiveness was tested for PLA, temperature stable PLA (PLA-HP) and glass for temperatures relevant for insect and mammalian cell culture, including temperature shifts within the process. Stability at 27 °C and 37 °C as well as temperature shifts to 22 °C and 32 °C showed acceptable performance with slightly higher temperature overshoot for 3D printed vessels. A stable temperature is reached after 2 h for PLA, 3 h for PLA-HP and 1 h for glass reactors. Temperature can be maintained with a fluctuation of 0.1 °C for all materials. A 3D printed sparger design directly integrated into the vessel wall and bottom was tested under three different conditions (0.3 SLPH and 27 °C, 3 SLPH and 37 °C and 13 SLPH and 37 °C). The 3D printed sparger showed a better k L a than the L-Sparger with more pronounced differences for higher flowrates. An insect cell culture run in the novel vessel exhibited the same growth behavior as that in standard glass vessels, reaching the same maximum cell concentration. Being 3D printed from biodegradable materials, these bioreactors offer design flexibility for novel bioreactor formats. Background: In the emergency department (ED), there are pre-assembled tonsillar hemorrhage trays for management of post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage and peritonsillar abscess. After use, the tray is sent to the medical device reprocessing (MDR) department for decontamination, sterilization, and re-organization, all at a significant cost to the hospital and environment. Objective: The goal of this project was to reduce unnecessary instruments on the tonsil hemorrhage tray by 30% by 1 year and report on the associated cost and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions savings. Methods: This quality improvement project was framed according to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's Model for Improvement. ED and Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery staff and residents were surveyed to determine which instruments on the tonsil hemorrhage trays were used regularly. Based on results, a new tray was developed and compared to the old tray using MDR data and existing CO2 emissions calculations. Results: Tray optimization resulted in a total cost reduction from $1092.63 to $330.21 per tray per year, decreased processing time from 12 to 6-8 minutes per tray, and decreased CO2 emissions from 6.11 to 2.85 kg per year for the old versus new tray, respectively. Overall, the new tray contains half the number of instruments, takes half the time to assemble, produces 50% less CO2 emissions, and will save the hospital approximately $100,000 over 10 years. Conclusion: Healthcare costs and environmental sustainability are collective responsibilities. Surgical and procedure tray optimization is a simple, effective, and scalable form of eco-action. Solar-driven hydrogen (H 2) and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2) generation over visible-light responsive carbon nitride (CN) photocatalysts for in situ efficient sterilization is a promising and eco-friendly strategy. Herein, a colloidal potassium-ion (K+) intercalated crystalline CN nanosheets (KCCN) photocatalyst was constructed for boosting synergetic H 2 O 2 synthesis with isopropanol (IPA) oxidation and in situ antibacterial effect. The surface hydroxyl (−OH) and cyano (−C N) groups induced by molten salt (KCl)-assisted thermal treatments contributed to the colloidal nature of CN, facilitating for high wettability of KCCN in aqueous solution to gain active hydrogen (H+) from water sustainably. Meaningfully, the enhanced high-energy singlet oxygen species (1O 2) produced by KCNN-2 were verified by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and 9,10-anthracenediyl-bis(methylene)-dimalonic acid (ABDA)-fluorescent probe, significantly contributing to H 2 O 2 production and antibacterial effect. Consequently, the optimal KCCN-2 exhibited a much enhanced H 2 generation of 4.11 mmol g−1 h−1, and H 2 O 2 production activity of 1.82 mmol L−1 h−1 with acetone yield rate of 47.3 mmol g−1 h−1 under visible-light (λ > 420 nm) irradiation in 10 vol% IPA solution. The in-situ generated H 2 O 2 can be activated to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS), especially 1O 2 , to effectively kill the Escherichia coli , reaching an improved an antibacterial rate of 89.7% under stimulated sunlight irradiation in 1 h. This work could offer a new insight into the photoinduced ROS for aqueous H 2 O 2 photosynthesis and antibacterial application. A colloidal K+ intercalated crystalline carbon nitride (KCCN) photocatalyst with abundant surface functional groups (including –OH, –C N groups) was fabricated for photocatalytic H 2 generation, H 2 O 2 production with isopropanol (IPA) oxidation to acetone (AC), and in situ sterilization. The obtained CN photocatalyst indicated accelerated charge separation and transfer in both in-plane and interlayer of carbon nitride, improved surface wettability and rich N-defects, leading to significantly enhanced photocatalytic H 2 O 2 generation with IPA oxidation activities, along with improved in situ antibacterial effect. Objectives: Surgical guides are frequently used for dental implant placement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the 3D printing process itself and subsequent steam autoclaving on the dimensional stability of five different resin/printer combinations (RPCs). Materials and Methods: Fifty identical surgical guides (10 per group) were produced consisting of five RPCs. Half of the guides (5 per group) were steam autoclaved with cycle 1 (121°C, 1 bar, 20.5 min) and the other half with cycle 2 (134°C, 2 bar, 5.5 min). All guides were scanned with a structured‐light (SL) 3D scanner before (T0) and after (T1) autoclaving. Linear measurements along the x‐, y‐, and z‐axes were performed at landmarks on the original STL file and on SL scans at T0 and T1, respectively. Wilcoxon signed‐rank test, Kruskal–Wallis test, and linear mixed‐effects models were performed, depending on the analysis. Results: Three‐dimensional printing was associated with significant dimensional alterations for all RPCs. Steam autoclaving using cycle 1 was associated with significant shrinkage in x‐ (1 RPC), y‐ (2 RPCs), and z‐direction (2 RPCs), while cycle 2 was also associated with shrinkage in x‐ (2 RPCs), y‐ (1 RPC), and z‐direction (1 RPC). One resin did not present any dimensional changes independently of the cycle. Conclusions: The majority of the guides presented minor but significant shrinkage due to 3D printing itself and both steam autoclaving cycles, the extent varied between different RPCs. Objective: To investigate the effects of sterilization, conditioning method, and thermal aging on the retentive strength of two‐piece zirconia abutments. Materials and Methods: In total, 128 stock zirconia abutments were divided into four groups (n = 32) according to the conditioning parameters: (A) air‐abrasion using 50 μm alumina particles/1.0 bar, (B) 50 μm/2.0 bar, (C) 100 μm/1.0 bar, and (D) 100 μm/2.0 bar. All abutments were bonded onto titanium bases using DTK adhesive resin and stored in water bath (37°C) for 72 h. Each group was subdivided into two subgroups (n = 16), group 1 was disinfected, whereas group 2 followed disinfection and autoclave sterilization. Half of the specimens of each subgroup (n = 8) was directly subjected to the axial retention test (groups N), while the other half was first subjected to 150 days of thermocycling followed by retention test (groups T). Statistical analysis was performed with three‐way ANOVA, additional statistical analysis was performed by using separate one‐way ANOVAs followed by the Tukey's post‐hoc test for post hoc pairwise comparisons among groups. Results: The highest median retention strength was recorded for group B2N (1390 N), whereas the lowest strength was recorded for group C1T (688 N). No significant interaction (p ≥ 0.05) was detected between the different variables; conditioning method, sterilization, and the thermal cycling regarding the effect on the resulting retention. However, the sterilization always showed a positive effect. Thermocycling presented an adversely significant effect only in the absence of sterilization (p < 0.05), with the exception of subgroups A. For the sterilized groups, thermocycling had no statistically significant effect on the retention. Conclusion: Steam autoclaving increased the retention of hybrid zirconia abutments. The aim of this work was to determine the changes in the chemical and physical-mechanical properties of gauze compresses under the influence of various sterilizations. Gauze compresses are made of cotton; therefore, all methods used focused on cotton. The methods used to test possible damage to cotton materials (pH value (pH paper, KI starch paper), yellowing test, Fehling reaction, reaction to the formation of Turnbull blue (Berlin blue), microscopic staining with methylene blue and swelling reaction with Na-zincate) did not show that the sterilizations affected the cotton compresses. The morphological characteristics were examined with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The SEM images showed that there were no morphological changes in the cotton fibers. FTIR-ATR spectroscopy revealed that the sterilization processes did not alter the characteristic bands of the cotton. The length of the macromolecules was increased (DP), showing that the sterilization processes had affected the cotton. The results of the wet strength test followed. The samples showed values below 100%, with the exception of two samples. It is known from theory that the relative wet strength is less than 100% when the material is damaged. The t-test performed on the strength results showed that the p-value was greater than 0.05 for all samples tested, with the exception of one sample. The degree of swelling capacity was determined, with non-sterilized samples having the highest capacity, followed by samples sterilized with ethylene oxide and then samples sterilized by steam sterilization. The results obtained are a contribution to the innovation of the topic of this work and a scientific confirmation for manufacturers and anyone interested in the influence of the sterilization process on natural fibers (cotton). In this study, it was aimed to determine the effects of using UV light instead of formaldehyde in disinfection of hatching eggs on the microbial load, shell and yolk compositions, embryo development, hatching results and chick characteristics. 552 hatching eggs were divided into formaldehyde fumigation and disinfection with UV groups. After disinfection, bacteriological growth was not observed in groups. While the difference between the groups in terms of hatching results was insignificant, it was determined that the incubation period in the UV group was shorter than that of formaldehyde group. On the hatching day, relative chick weight and weight of bursa Fabricus were found to be higher in the UV group. UV light can be used as an alternative to formaldehyde as disinfection of hatching eggs because it is easy to use and does not cause any negative effects on egg shell structure, embryo development, hatching results and chick characteristics. MEP (methylerythritol phosphate) pathway is one of the essential biochemical pathways for the production of the terpenoid precursors isoprenyl diphosphate (IPP) and dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP), and is widespread in plants, bacteria, and pathogens, but absent in mammals. The seven key enzymes of the MEP pathway have been identified as targets for the development of novel pesticides and pharmaceuticals. 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol-4-phosphate cytidyltransferase(IspD) is the third key enzyme of the MEP pathway, which has a low lipophilicity of active sites but unique allosteric sites that have attracted considerable attention from researchers in recent years. Using small molecule inhibitors of IspD to block the MEP pathway and indirectly inhibit the generation of terpenoids can cause the death of pathogens and plants to achieve the purpose of sterilization or weeding. This paper reviews the structure, mechanism, IspD inhibitors and mode of action of the IspD protease. [Display omitted] An injectable hydrogel dressing, Zr/Fc-MOF@CuO 2 @FH, was constructed by combing acid-triggered chemodynamic treatment (CDT) with low-temperature photothermal treatment (LT-PTT) to effectively eliminate bacteria without harming the surrounding normal tissues. The Zr/Fc-MOF acts as both photothermal reagent and nanozyme to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS). The CuO 2 nanolayer can be decomposed by the acidic microenvironment of the bacterial infection to release Cu2+ and H 2 O 2 , which not only induces Fenton-like reaction but also enhances the catalytic capability of the Zr/Fc-MOF. The generated heat augments ROS production, resulting in highly efficient bacterial elimination at low temperature. Precisely, injectable hydrogel dressing can match irregular wound sites, which shortens the distance of heat dissipation and ROS diffusion to bacteria, thus improving sterilization efficacy and decreasing non-specific systemic toxicity. Both in vitro and in vivo experiments validated the predominant sterilization efficiency of drug-resistant methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and kanamycin-resistant Escherichia coli (KREC), presenting great potential for application in clinical therapy. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of a flapless surgical approach in the treatment of peri‐implantitis and to explore the factors influencing its outcome. Materials and Methods: The present retrospective study evaluated patients with at least one implant diagnosed with peri‐implantitis and treated with a flapless surgical access, with or without systemic antimicrobials, curettage and, when needed, prostheses modification. Clinical and radiographic parameters were assessed at baseline and at 3 months and at least 12 months. The primary outcome was disease resolution (≤1 bleeding sites, probing depth [PD] ≤5 mm, no bone loss >0.5 mm). Multilevel regression analyses were used to identify predictors influencing the probability of attaining disease resolution. Results: One hundred and seventeen patients with 338 implants were included. Disease resolution was attained in 54.4% of the 338 implants receiving flapless surgical access. At the end of the follow‐up period, 111 patients (94.9%) with 295 implants (87.3%) did not require any further treatment, with 81.4% of these implants presenting PD ≤ 5 mm. History of periodontitis and PD at baseline were identified as negative predictors, while compliance with supportive peri‐implant care, a machined surface and the adjunctive use of systemic azithromycin or metronidazole were identified as positive predictive factors for disease resolution. Conclusions: A flapless surgical approach led to disease resolution in 54.4% of the implants with peri‐implantitis. Several risk/protective predictors for disease resolution were identified. Background: Enhancing the current breast pump sanitization method may improve maternal satisfaction and increase a mother's likelihood of providing human milk for their hospitalized infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Other than Centers for Disease Control (CDC) data, there is lack of studies on sanitization practices. Currently, the only option in the hospital setting for breast pump equipment cleaning is a steam sanitization plastic bag. Purpose: Using the Q. Basin will increase participant satisfaction compared to the steam sanitization bag. Methods: A multi-phased pilot study was conducted in our quaternary care NICU to test the Q. Basin, a novel design developed to wash, dry, and safely steam sanitize breast pump equipment compared to the standard steam bag. A bacterial study was conducted on breast pump equipment from 10 mothers by swabbing the equipment immediately at hour zero and 24 hours. Twenty NICU mothers concurrently evaluated their satisfaction via a 3-question survey comparing the Q. Basin and the steam sanitization plastic bag method. Results: The results showed a 20% increase in satisfaction with Q. Basin compared to the steam bag method. Implications for Practice and Research: Data analysis from the satisfaction survey concludes that mothers pumping preferred the Q. Basin as a quicker, faster, and more environmentally friendly method for breast pump part sanitization. Additional safety and materials studies are required before using the Q. Background: The aim of this study was to analyze the cleaning and disinfection of operating rooms (ORs) status quo focusing on hygiene plans in German hospitals. Methods: In 2016, a structured online survey was sent to infection prevention and control (IPC) specialists at the cost calculation hospitals of the Institute for the Hospital Remuneration System (InEK) and all university hospitals in Germany (n = 365). Results: With a response rate of 27.4%, 78% stated that written hygiene plans were available. After cleaning and disinfecting an OR with a "septic" patient, 55% waited until surfaces were dry before reusing in accordance with national recommendations, 27% waited > 30 min. Additionally, 28% of hospitals had ORs only for "septic" patients. In 56% "septic" patients were only operated on at the end of the program. Postoperative monitoring of patients with bacteria with special IPC requirements took place in the post anesthesia care unit (PACU) (29%), operating room (OR) (52%), intensive care unit (ICU) (53%), and in the intermediate care unit (IMC) (19%). Discussion and conclusions: Despite written hygiene plans in place the partly long duration of OR nonuse time following IPC measures, the consistent continued use of stratification for "septic" patients and the postoperative follow-up care of patients with colonizing/infecting bacteria with special IPC requirements in the OR and high care areas represent relevant potential for improvement. Background: The purpose of this pilot in-vitro study was to assess the effect of sterilization on the intra-implant axis, inter-implant axis, intra-implant distance and inter-implant distance of three implants in a straight line by using laboratory scanner (LBS) versus intra-oral scanner (IOS) with intra-oral scan bodies (ISB). Methods: A printed 3D model with three internal hex analogs in the positions 15#,16#,17# was used. Zirkonzhan (ZZ) intra-oral scan body (ISB), two-piece titanium was used. The ZZ ISBs were scanned by 7 Series dental wings (LBS) and 30 times by Primescan (IOS) pre sterilization and 30 times post sterilization. For each scan (pre and post) stereolithography (STL) file was created and a comparison between all the scans pre sterilization and post sterilization were superimposed on the laboratory scan by using a 3D analyzing software. A Kolmogorov-Smirnov test performed followed by Wilcoxon Signed Ranks tests. (p < 0.05) Results: Post sterilization of the ZZ ISB, the mean errors were significantly increased for the inter-implant distances (p < 0.0005), intra-implant distances 1,2,3 (p < 0.0005), intra-implant axis 1,3 (p < 0.0005) and inter-implant axes 13,23 (p < 0.05). In contrast, the mean errors for intra-implant axis 2 (p < 0.0005) and inter-implant axis 12 (p < 0.0005) were significantly reduced. Conclusions: ZZ ISB showed changes in all four parameters after sterilization. The middle ISB had the largest changes in mean error regarding all four parameters. Sterilization process may affect the three-dimensional (3D) structure of the ZZ ISB after three cycles. There is a lack in the literature in this field and there is a need for further studies to explore the effect of sterilization (multiple cycles) on different ISBs and for creating an approved guidelines regarding the amount of sterilization for each ISB in the industry. Chlorine is widely used for sterilization and disinfection of water, but the presence of excess residual chlorine in water poses a substantial threat to human health. At present, there is no portable device which can achieve accurate, rapid, low-cost, and convenient detection of residual chlorine in water. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a device that can perform accurate, rapid, low-cost, and convenient detection of residual chlorine in water. In this study, a portable residual chlorine detection device was developed. A microfluidic chip was studied to achieve efficient mixing of two-phase flow. This microfluidic chip was used for rapid mixing of reagents in the portable residual chlorine detection device, reducing the consumption of reagents, detection time, and device volume. A deep learning algorithm was proposed for predicting residual chlorine concentration in water, achieving precise detection. Firstly, the microfluidic chip structure for detecting mixed reagents was optimized, and the microfluidic chip was fabricated by a 3D-printing method. Secondly, a deep learning (LS-BP) algorithm was constructed and proposed for predicting residual chlorine concentration in water, which can realize dual-channel signal reading. Thirdly, the corresponding portable residual chlorine detection device was developed, and the detection device was compared with residual chlorine detection devices and methods in other studies. The comparison results indicate that the portable residual chlorine detection device has high detection accuracy, fast detection speed, low cost, and good convenience. The excellent performance of the portable residual chlorine detection device makes it suitable for detecting residual chlorine in drinking water, swimming pool water, aquaculture and other fields. The newest technology allows the medical industry to manufacture innovative products such as milled titanium prosthodontic parts in an implant for a screw-retained suprastructure. In the literature, there are some articles on the clinical usage of subperiosteal implants, but none of these publications, either in PubMed or Google Scholar, thoroughly describe the workflow for the design and manufacture of individual implants for maxillofacial surgery with milled threads for a screw-retained prosthodontic bridge. The aim of the article is to present a step-by-step method of producing personalized implants, from the first steps of production to the implantation of the final product. The article includes information on patient qualification for surgery, computational preparation and skull printing, planning of Mai Implants®, meshing, 3D printing and milling, cleaning, rinsing, anodizing, and laser marking, as well as the cleaning and sterilization process in a hospital or dental clinic. A detailed description of implant production allows for the analysis of each step and the development of technology. The production of implants is an expensive procedure, but considering all the advantages of the Mai Implants® treatment and the disadvantages of alternatives, the product is worth the price. Recently, a new type of lighting source, deep ultraviolet light-emitting diode (LED), has appeared in the markets of space purification and surface sterilization. In this paper, a new type of electronic lighting driver for supplying a deep-ultraviolet LED sterilization lamp is proposed and developed. The main circuit combines a buck converter and a flyback converter into a single-stage single-switch buck-flyback AC-DC power converter with power factor correction. In addition, the proposed electronic lighting driver leverages a wide bandgap SiC Schottky diode as the output diode to lower the power diode losses and recycles the energy stored in the leakage inductance of the transformer in order to improve the circuit efficiency. The magnetizing inductor inside the presented AC-DC power converter is designed to operate in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), which naturally enables power factor correction (PFC). A single-stage prototype driver with a power rating of 3.6 W (90 V/40 mA) was developed and implemented for providing a deep ultraviolet LED disinfection and sterilization lamp. Experimental results show that the measured power factor (PF) is greater than 0.9 and the measured total harmonic distortion (THD) of the input current is less than 18% at an input utility voltage of 110 V. Furthermore, the measured output voltage ripple factor is less than 1% and the output current ripple factor is less than 4%. In addition, the proposed single-stage electronic lighting driver for supplying a deep ultraviolet LED disinfection and sterilization lamp achieves high circuit efficiency (greater than 90%), low circuit component count, and low circuit cost. Background: Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are important indicators of healthcare quality. The aseptic non touch technique (ANTT), a standardised aseptic technique, is a crucial preventative measure against HAIs. However, there is insufficient evidence currently available regarding ANTT awareness and proficiency among nurses. This study aimed to investigate the status of ANTT proficiency in a cohort of nurses and analyse the associated risk factors, with the ultimate goal of providing a reference for promoting the application of ANTT in clinical practice. Methods: The study population was sampled from nurses working in a tertiary hospital in Zhejiang Province, China, in January 2024. A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a self-designed questionnaire to assess ANTT knowledge. Multivariate linear regression analysis was used to analyse the risk factors influencing ANTT knowledge in nurses. Results: A total of 458 nurses were included in this study. The cohort had an overall score of 49.7% correct responses on the ANTT knowledge questionnaire, with a mean score of 12.4 ± 2.4 out of 25, and 30.1% of the nurses felt that they did not need training related to ANTT. Multivariate linear regression analysis indicated that professional title, educational level, and the need for ANTT training were independently associated with ANTT knowledge in nurses. Nurses with Master's degrees and associated chief nurses were observed to have higher levels of ANTT knowledge compared to the rest. Conclusions: ANTT knowledge is insufficient among nurses in China, and its importance is not widely recognised. Continuous efforts are required to strengthen this knowledge. Constructing sustained, multiform, and stratified training programmes may represent an effective method to strengthen ANTT knowledge among nurses and promote its clinical use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A combination of in vitro antibacterial tests and pot-culture experiments was conducted to explore the effects of orange and grapefruit peel extract on the growth of Fusarium oxysporum and potentiality of orange peel extract in preventing cucumber seedlings damping-off disease. The results showed that the orange peel extract exhibited a significant inhibitory effect on the Fusarium oxysporum cucumber-specializing pathogen, and the inhibitory effect was positively correlated with the concentration of the extract. On the 2nd and 6th day after pathogenic inoculating on PDA, the colony diameters of the control were 1.58 and 1.54 times larger than those of the full concentration of orange peel extract treatment. The total flavonoid content in orange peel was 1.14 times higher than that of grapefruit peel. Additionally, adding 0.25% orange peel to reduction sterilization soil could effectively reduce cucumber seedling wilt. Under the condition of pathogen infection, the total biomass of seedlings grown on reduction sterilization soil added orange peel increased by 15.49% compared with the control, and soluble sugar content in root was 1.12 times higher than that of the control. Sensitive detection and efficient inactivation of pathogenic bacteria are crucial for halting the spread and reproduction of foodborne pathogenic bacteria. Herein, a novel Apt-modified PDMS-ZnO/Ag multifunctional biosensor has been developed for high-sensitivity surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) detection along with photocatalytic sterilization towards Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium). The distribution of the electric field in PDMS-ZnO/Ag with different Ag sputtering times was analyzed using a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm. Due to the combined effect of electromagnetic enhancement and chemical enhancement, PDMS-ZnO/Ag exhibited outstanding SERS sensitivity. The limit of detection (LOD) for 4-MBA on the optimal SERS substrate (PZA-40) could be as little as 10−9 M. After PZA-40 was modified with the aptamer, the LOD of the PZA-40-Apt biosensor for detecting S. typhimurium was only 10 cfu/mL. Additionally, the PZA-40-Apt biosensor could effectively inactivate S. typhimurium under visible light irradiation within 10 min, with a bacterial lethality rate (Lb) of up to 97%. In particular, the PZA-40-Apt biosensor could identify S. typhimurium in food samples in addition to having minimal cytotoxicity and powerful biocompatibility. This work aims at improving the proven protocol for doubled haploid production in wheat. This procedure has some deficits, for example, microbial infection of ears as well as of the nutrient culture medium. In the present study, the potential effect of sterilization by detached tiller culture fungicides of ears as well as of nutrient medium to control microbial infection, and its effect on the formation of caryopses and embryos (CFF, EFF) was studied. In a further experiment, the UV‐light was used as physical sterilant for the nutrient medium. All of the fungicides and their concentrations studied were found to be effective to control infection on ears except the concentration 0.05% tilt. 0.1% tilt gave the highest CFF (79.5%) followed by 0.1% Bayleton (78.0%). The lowest CFF was recorded in control treatment (48.8%). Among Bavistin treatments, the 0.2% Bavistin gave maximum CFF (68.5%) as well as EFF (29.1%) followed by 0.1% Bavistin (64.9%, 23.7%). The higher concentration of tilt (0.2%) showed detrimental effects on EFF (17.5%). Bavistin in tiller culture nutrient medium reduced infection in medium and was shown to improve CFF and EFF (67.4%, 29.8%). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

When developing devices and processes, viable spores and biological indicators can be used to detect the presence of the sterilising agent. In particular, a change in the D values can provide important information. But indicators, which can only be evaluated in a laboratory after 7 days’ incubation, are not recommended for routine operations in the healthcare setting. Chemical indicators are useful for distinguishing between sterilized and unsterilized items of packaging. An argon‐based low‐temperature plasma jet (LTPJ) was used to treat chronically infected wounds in Staphylococcus aureus‐laden mice. Based on physicochemical property analysis and in vitro antibacterial experiments, the effects of plasma parameters on the reactive nitrogen and oxygen species (RNOS) content and antibacterial capacity were determined, and the optimal treatment parameters were determined to be 4 standard litre per minute and 35 W. Additionally, the plasma‐treated activation solution had a bactericidal effect. Although RNOS are related to the antimicrobial effect of plasma, excess RNOS may be detrimental to wound remodelling. In vivo studies demonstrated that medium‐dose LTPJ promoted MMP‐9 expression and inhibited bacterial growth during the early stages of healing. Moreover, LTPJ increased collagen deposition, reduced inflammation, and restored blood vessel density and TGF‐β levels to normal in the later stages of wound healing. Therefore, when treating chronically infected wounds with LTPJ, selecting the medium dose of plasma is more advantageous for wound recovery. Background: Large and complex defects requiring reconstruction are challenging for orthopaedic surgeons. The use of human acellular dermal (HAD) matrices to augment large soft tissue defects such as those seen in massive rotator cuff tears, knee extensor mechanism failures and neglected Tendo-Achilles tears has proven to be a valuable tool in surgeons reconstructive armamentarium. Different methods for allograft decellularization and preservation alter the native properties of the scaffold. Traditional processing and preservation methods have shown to have drawbacks that preclude its widespread use. Some of the common issues include inferior biomechanical properties, the risk of rejection, limited customization, difficulty in storing and transporting, the requirement of pre-operative preparation, and last but not the least increased cost. Methods: We describe a novel processing and preservation method utilizing a two-step non-denaturing decellularization method coupled with preservation using a water-sequestering agent (glycerol) to remove immunogenic components while retaining biomechanical properties. The efficiency of this novel process was compared with the traditional freeze-drying method and verified by histological evaluation and biomechanical strength analysis. Results: The absence of cellular components and matrix integrity in hematoxylin and eosin-stained glycerol-preserved HAD (gly-HAD) samples compared to freeze-dried HAD (FD-HAD) demonstrated effective yet gentle decellularization. Biomechanical strength analysis revealed that gly-HADs are stronger with an ultimate tensile load to the failure strength of 210 N compared to FD-HAD (124N). The gly-HADs were found to have an optimal suture–retention strength of 126 N. Finally, sterility testing of the resultant grafts was checked to ensure a sterility assurance level of 10−6 to establish implantability. Conclusion: The novel processing and preservation technique is described in this paper to create a Human Acellular Dermis with higher biomechanical strength and superior histological characteristics. Background: Disposable non-sterile gloves are part of the personal protective equipment (PPE) to be considered to protect oneself from the risk of infection. They have subsequently become the topic of concern related to increased use, inappropriate use, and potentially increasing the risk of cross-infection and environmental impact of plastic waste. Aim/objective: This study aimed to explore the views of pre-registration student nurses about non-sterile glove use in clinical practice and to identify the factors that impact student nurses' decision on whether to wear non- sterile gloves. Methods: Using a social constructivist approach, the study was organised in a higher education institution. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with second year student nurses, utilising a theoretical domains framework (TDF). Findings/Results: The key findings showed that students had limited awareness of the national infection prevention and control best practice procedures. The primary influential factors for non-sterile gloves use behaviour were personal protection, the type of care interventions required and the observations of peers and role models. Discussion: The study found limited awareness on the importance of infection prevention and control precautions, including the correct procedure for donning, and doffing of personal protection equipment, along with a lack of confidence to challenge non-compliance. Cryogels represent a valid strategy as scaffolds for tissue engineering. In order to adequately support adhesion and proliferation of anchorage-dependent cells, different polymers need to be combined within the same scaffold trying to mimic the complex features of a natural extracellular matrix (ECM). For this reason, in this work, gelatin (Gel) and chondroitin sulfate (CS), both functionalized with methacrylic groups to produce CSMA and GelMA derivatives, were selected to prepare cryogel networks. Both homopolymer and heteropolymer cryogels were produced, via radical crosslinking reactions carried out at −12 °C for 2 h. All the scaffolds were characterized for their mechanical, swelling and morphological properties, before and after autoclave sterilization. Moreover, they were evaluated for their biocompatibility and ability to support the adhesion of human gingival fibroblasts and tenocytes. GelMA-based homopolymer networks better withstood the autoclave sterilization process, compared to CSMA cryogels. Indeed, GelMA cryogels showed a decrease in stiffness of approximately 30%, whereas CSMA cryogels of approximately 80%. When GelMA and CSMA were blended in the same network, an intermediate outcome was observed. However, the hybrid scaffolds showed a general worsening of the biological performance. Indeed, despite their ability to withstand autoclave sterilization with limited modification of the mechanical and morphological properties, the hybrid cryogels exhibited poor cell adhesion and high LDH leakage. Therefore, not only do network components need to be properly selected, but also their combination and ability to withstand effective sterilization process should be carefully evaluated for the development of efficient scaffolds designed for tissue engineering purposes. Despite the current appreciation of pulque as a probiotic fermented beverage, pulque has been also regarded as a poor-quality product, particularly due to the lack of sanitary control during its elaboration. To address this problem, a semi-continuous fermentation system was established, emulating the artisanal production process. Microfiltration-sterilized aguamiel was employed as the substrate, whereas a good-quality pulque was used as the fermentation inoculum. During the fermentation, the physicochemical, microbiological (lactic acid and Leuconostoc-type bacteria and yeasts) and sensory characteristics of the must were monitored. The isolated microorganisms were identified by molecular biology and MALDI-MS techniques. The sterilization of aguamiel by microfiltration did not negatively affect its physicochemical attributes. After 6–8 days of operation of the semi-continuous bioreactor, the fermentation reached a quasi-stationary state considering most of the parameters monitored during the experiment. The final fermentation product presented similar physicochemical, microbial and sensory properties to those of the pulque inoculum. The genera identified were Leuconostoc, Lentilactobacillus, Lactobacillus, Liquorilactobacillus, Fructilactobacillus and Saccharomyces. The strains Lentilactobacillus diolivorans and Liquorilactobacillus capillatus and uvarum have not been previously isolated from pulque. In conclusion, the fermentation system developed in this work was effective to standardize the quality of pulque while preserving the positive attributes of the artisanal process, thus harnessing the probiotic properties of pulque. Objective: Practitioners and scientists are re-examining marginalised wound care therapies to find strategies that combat the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) without compromising patient outcomes. Maggot therapy (MT) makes up just an estimated 0.02% of UK's National Health Service spending on wound care. This study aims to uncover why MT is not used more often, despite its affordability and high level of efficacy for both debridement and disinfection, particularly in the context of AMR infections, and to determine what can be done to ensure MT is more effectively used in the future to improve patient outcomes and manage the growing problem of AMR. Method: For this investigation, a qualitative review of case studies using MT against AMR infections and a quantitative analysis of randomised control trials (RCTs) were performed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses framework. Results: Analysis showed that MT is highly effective against a range of infections and wound types, and compares well against conventional therapies. The low use of MT may be due in part to the documented 'yuck factor', often associated with maggots as well as misconceptions around the cost, efficacy and accessibility of MT. To overcome these factors, more RCTs on the spectrum and efficacy of MT across various clinical manifestations are needed, as well as professional and public engagement campaigns. Conclusion: MT is an underused therapy, particularly regarding AMR infections, and expanding its use in these circumstances appears warranted. MT could play a vital role in conserving the efficacy of the existing pool of antimicrobials available and should be considered in the development of antimicrobial stewardship programmes. Rationale: Ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization is commonly employed for the sterilization of medical devices and has a very high market share. However, EO and its metabolite ethylene chlorohydrin (ECH) are toxic to humans. In compliance with the classification and residue limits of medical devices defined by ISO 10993‐7, our study established two extraction methods for the testing of EO and ECH. Methods: The first method involves simulated‐use extraction using water as the extraction solvent. While the second, exhaustive extraction, directly extracts sample through headspace sampling analysis. Gas chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry in multiple reaction monitoring mode was utilized, requiring only 16 min. Then, the developed method was applied to assess 10 commercially available medical devices sterilized by EO. Results: In simulated‐use extraction, calibration curves were evaluated in the range of 1–100 and 5–500 μg for EO and ECH, respectively (r > 0.999). Inter‐day recoveries ranged from 85.0% to 95.2% and from 94.8% to 102.4%. In exhaustive extraction, calibration curves spanned 0.5–50 and 2–200 μg for EO and ECH, respectively (r > 0.999). Inter‐day recoveries ranged from 101.6% to 102.1% for EO and from 98.1% to 102.2% for ECH. After analysis of the 10 commercially available medical devices, two cotton swabs were found to have ECH of 35.1 and 28.4 μg per device, and four medical devices were found to have EO with concentration below the limit of quantification. Meanwhile, we found that the EO internal standard (propylene oxide) recommended by ISO 10993‐7 had interference problems with other similar substances and was not suitable as an internal standard for EO. Conclusions: This study offers a sensitive and straightforward analytical approach to EO and ECH residues in a variety of medical devices. In addition, the results show that the EO or ECH content of these types of medical devices in our study falls below the regulatory limits, therefore instilling confidence among consumers regarding their safe use.
