The paper is dedicated to musical direction and its functions. It describes the various stages of the music recording process, focusing in particular on recording strategy and the post-production stage. It presents various perspectives that lead to an understanding of musical direction as an interpretive art, in which the editing method plays a defining role for achieving an optimal outcome. The author utilizes her own extensive experience as a musical director, as well as her knowledge of electroacoustic composition and sound management. Musical recording and all of its acoustic and interpretive parameters becomes a work of art. The paper views the editing of recorded material as an interpretive artistic performance.
