Introduction/Justification: Closely related to high UV exposure and comprising basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma, skin cancer is the most prevalent tumor in the world. Cisplatin has been used for treatment of patients with skin squamous cell carcinoma (SSCC) with low response rate and pronounced adverse effects. Thus, the search for new chemotherapeutic agents for patients with SSCC or melanoma is required, and gold complexes have been explored as potential anticancer drugs. Targeting thioredoxin reductase or thiol-rich proteins, many gold complexes can induce cell death by reactive oxygen species. Objectives: Our study aimed to evaluate the in vitro anti-proliferative effects of a gold(I) complex with triphenylphosphine and 4-dimethylaminopyridine as ligand. Materials and Methods: The gold (I) complex was synthesized at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Institute of Chemistry, University of Campinas. Melanoma (UACC-62), squamous cell carcinoma of tongue (SCC4 and SCC15), and a non-tumoral cell line (HaCat, immortalized keratinocyte) were grown in complete medium [RPMI-1640 (Gilco®) supplemented with 5% fetal bovine serum (Gilco®) and 1% penicillin:streptomycin mixture (1000 U/mL:1000 µg/mL, Vitrocell, Brasil)] at 37 °C and 5% CO2. Each cell line (100 μL/well, in 96-well plates, 4 - 6 x10^4 cel/ml) was exposed to the gold (I) complex (100 μL/well, 0.25 to 250 µg/mL, in triplicate) and incubated for 48 h. Doxorubicin (100 μL/well, 0.025 to 25 µg/mL, in triplicate) was used as a positive control. Before (T0) and after (T1) sample addition, cells were fixed with 50% trichloroacetic acid (TCA, 50 μL/well), and cell viability was determined using the sulforhodamine B protocol at 540 nm with a microplate reader spectrophotometer (VersaMax, Molecular Devices). The difference between T0 and T1 absorbance values represented 100% of cell growth, and the proliferation (%) of each cell line in the presence of each sample concentration was calculated accordingly. Effective concentration representing the sample concentration required to promote 50% growth inhibition (GI50) for each cell line was calculated by sigmoidal regression using Origin 8.0 software. Results: The gold(I) complex showed potent anti-proliferative effect against UACC-62 cells (GI50 < 0.25 µg mL-1) being less active against SCC15 (GI50 ≈ 2.5 µg mL-1) and SCC4 (GI50: 10.2 µg mL-1) cells. Moreover, the anti-proliferative effect of gold(I) complex showed a good selectivity being almost 10x less active against HaCaT cells (GI50 ≈ 2.5 µg mL-1) in comparison to melanoma cells. Conclusion: This data indicated gold(I) complex with triphenylphosphine and 4-dimethylaminopyridine as ligands as a promisor candidate for treatment of patients with melanoma. Further in vitro and in vivo evaluations is required to evaluate the mechanism of action and toxicity of the complex. Soil–water characteristic curve (SWCC) and suction stress characteristic curve (SSCC), as the core of unsaturated soil mechanics, are important constitutive relationship curves for unsaturated soils, which can accurately describe the stress state in the soil. This paper examines the pore size distribution curves (PSD) of loess collected from Yan'an, China, by performing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) tests. In this paper, the Young–Laplace theory and the fractal model are combined with the PSD to establish the relationship between matric suction and volumetric water content. Finally, it establishes a mathematical model for predicting SWCC and SSCC. In addition, the evolution of SWCC and SSCC under different dry densities of compacted loess was studied based on the predictions. The study found that pore volumes with pore diameters smaller than the critical pore diameter could be used to predict the residual water content. Additionally, the water-holding capacity can be expressed in terms of the fractal dimension, which is controlled by the PSD. Based on the rapid characteristics of the NMR test, this paper makes a rapid prediction of SWCC and SSCC. It gives a new idea for the subsequent rapid testing of SWCC and SSCC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Glycine in its neutral form can exist in the gas phase while its zwitterion form is more stable in water solution, but how many waters are actually necessary to stabilize the zwitterionic structure in the gas phase? Are the intramolecular isotropic spin spin coupling constants sensitive enough to accuse the change in the environment? or the conformer observed? These and related questions have been investigated by a computational study at the level of density functional theory employing the B3LYP functional and the 6-31++G**-J basis set. We found that at least two water molecules explicitly accounted for in the super-molecule structure are necessary to stabilize both conformers of glycine within a water polarizable continuum model. At least half of the SSCCs of both conformers are very stable to changes in the environment and at least four of them differ significantly between Neutral and Zwitterion conformation. We have investigated the spin‐spin coupling constants (SSCC's) of diborane(4) and diborane(6), their Li‐doped counterparts, and the dimerization of diborane(6), using the second order polarization propagator approximation with coupled cluster singled and double [SOPPA(CCSD)] substitutions. We employed an adapted basis set to perform the calculations of their SSCC's. Energetically, from optimized structures at second‐order Møller‐Plesset perturbation theory, our results indicate that the stable isomers of diborane(4) may exist as independent molecular entities, separate by ∼ 20 kJ/mol, obtained in our best level of calculation. Distinct geometric configurations and energetic stability are well related to the nuclear coupling mechanism in these diborane compounds. We found that dimerization of diborane(6) is possible with different symmetries, although it does not significantly change the geometric parameters of the monomers. This is also confirmed by the SSCC's calculations with SOPPA(CCSD). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

10‐Hydrazino‐BODIPY, BoNHNH2, presents slow rotation about the C10–NH bond that results in anisochronous 1H and 13C NMR signals. The assignment of the different signals has been made using traditional two‐dimensional methods as well as spin–spin coupling constants and confirmed by DFT calculations (B3LYP) using the 6‐311++G(d,p) basis set. The rotational barrier has been determined in three pairs of proton signals and compared with the calculated barrier. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

1J(15N,H) coupling constants for enaminones and NH‐forms of intramolecularly hydrogen‐bonded Schiff bases as model compounds for sp2‐hybridized nitrogen atoms are evaluated using density functional theory (DFT) to find the optimal functionals and basis sets. Ammonia is used as a test molecule and its one‐bond coupling constant is compared with experiment. A methylamine Schiff base of a truncated molecule of gossypol is used for checking the performance of selected B3LYP, O3LYP, PBE, BHandH, and APFD density functionals and standard, modified, and dedicated basis sets for coupling constants. Both in vacuum and in chloroform, modeled by the simple continuum model of solvent, the modified basis sets predict significantly better the 1J(15N,H) value in ammonia and in the methylamine Schiff base of a truncated molecule of gossypol than the standard basis sets. This procure is then used on a broad set of intramolecularly hydrogen‐bonded molecules, and a good correlation between calculated and experimental one‐bond NH coupling constants is obtained. The 1J(15N,H) couplings are slightly overestimated. The calculated data show for hydrogen‐bonded NH interatomic distances that the calculated values depend on the NH bond lengths. The shorter the bond lengths, the larger the 1J(15N,H). A useful correlation between 1J(15N,H) and NH bond length is derived that enables realistic predictions of one‐bond NH coupling constants. The calculations reproduce experimentally observed trends for the studied molecules. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Seleno-short-chain chitosan (SSCC) is a derivative of chitosan. In the present study, we sought to investigate the underlying antitumor mechanism of SSCC on human gastric cancer BGC-823 cells in vitro. MTT assay suggested that SSCC exhibited a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on the proliferation of BGC-823 cells. We found the SSCC-treated cells showed typical morphological characteristics of apoptosis in a dose dependent manner by observing on microscope. Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining and cell cycle assay identified that SSCC could induce BGC-823 cells apoptosis by triggering G2/M phase arrest. Our research provided the first evidence that SSCC could effectively induce the apoptosis of BGC-823 cells via an intrinsic mitochondrial pathway, as indicated by inducing the disruption of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), the excessive accumulation of reactive oxidative species (ROS), the increase of Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and the activation of caspase 3, caspase 9 and cytochrome C (Cyt-C) in BGC-823 cells. These combined results clearly indicated that SSCC could induce BGC-823 cells apoptosis by the involvement of mitochondrial signaling pathway, which provided precise experimental evidence for SSCC as a potential agent in the prevention and treatment of human gastric cancer. Background: Subungual squamous cell carcinoma (SSCC) and subungual melanoma (SUM) are rare tumors. Several case reports of association of SSCC with SUM (SSCC-SUM) have been published. Objective: We sought to document the clinical, dermoscopic, and histologic features in a case series of SSCC-SUMs and describe their relative frequency compared with those of SSCC and SUM.Methods: All patients who underwent surgical exploration of the nail apparatus with a dermatopathologic examination from 2012 to 2015 were reviewed retrospectively to identify all cases of SSCC, SUM, and SSCC-SUM. For patients with SSCC-SUM, clinical characteristics were obtained from electronic medical records. All histologic specimens were reviewed by 3 dermatopathologists. Results: The medical records of 456 patients were reviewed. SSCC was diagnosed in 78 (17%), SUM was diagnosed in 63 (14%), and SSCC-SUM was diagnosed in 9. Patients with SSCC-SUM accounted for 11% of those with a diagnosis of SSCC (9 of 78) and 14% of those with a diagnosis of SUM (9 of 63).Limitations: This was a single-institution retrospective study. Conclusion: The association of SSCC and SUM is relatively frequent in patients with SUM and warrants further consideration to understand the underlying mechanisms involved. The high-strength Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy (AA7050) used in manufacturing of main landing gear links in aerospace application and found to have failures in its application due to deterioration in material property (wear and SCC). In this work, an attempt was made to replace AA7050 with AA7050 hybrid composite material fabricated through stir casting. The AA7050/B4Cp/SiCp hybrid composites were prepared with 7.5 wt.% boron carbide particles added with 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10 wt.% of silicon carbide. Addition of potassium titanium fluoride (K2TiF6) flux improved the bonding of matrix and reinforcement due to the titanium interface. The effect of percentage reinforcement on mechanical wear and sulphide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) were analysed. The composite with 2.5% of silicon carbide offers better resistance to wear. The stress corrosion and wear mechanisms were studied with the aid of scanning electron microscopy. The hybrid composite showed enhancement in tensile strength owing to the clear bonding of matrix and the reinforcements. The reinforced composites showed improvement in SSCC due to grain boundary precipitates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Assessment of the relative amounts of the forms of the imidazole ring of Histidine (His), namely the protonated (H + ) and the tautomeric N ε2 -H and N δ1 -H forms, respectively, is a challenging task in NMR spectroscopy. Indeed, their determination by direct observation of the 15 N and 13 C chemical shifts or the one-bond C H, 1 J CH , Spin-Spin Coupling Constants (SSCC) requires knowledge of the “canonical” limiting values of these forms in which each one is present to the extent of 100%. In particular, at high-pH, an accurate determination of these “canonical” limiting values, at which the tautomeric forms of His coexist, is an elusive problem in NMR spectroscopy. Among different NMR-based approaches to treat this problem, we focus here on the computation, at the DFT level of theory, of the high-pH limiting value for the 1 J CH SSCC of the imidazole ring of His. Solvent effects were considered by using the polarizable continuum model approach. The results of this computation suggest, first, that the value of 1 J Cε1H = 205 ± 1.0 Hz should be adopted as the canonical high-pH limiting value for this SSCC; second, the variation of 1 J Cε1H SSCC during tautomeric changes is minor, i.e ., within ±1 Hz; and, finally, the value of 1 J Cδ2H SSCC upon tautomeric changes is large (15 Hz) indicating that, at high-pH or for non-protonated His at any pH, the tautomeric fractions of the imidazole ring of His can be predicted accurately as a function of the observed value of 1 J Cδ2H SSCC. Spin polarized structural, electronic, magnetic and bonding properties of ScFeCrT (T=Si, Ge) Heusler alloys are studied by employing density functional theory. The total energy calculation (for a static lattice) shows that both alloys are structurally stable in ferromagnetic phase with compressibility C ScFeCrSi > C ScFeCrGe . The electronic and band structure analysis show that the ScFeCrT alloys exhibit half-metallic ferromagnetic (HMF) behaviour for spin ↑ channel while semiconducting behaviour in spin ↓ channel. Both alloys exhibit total magnetic moment, M Total =3.0 µ B /cell obeying the Slater Pauling rule, M SPR =(N v –18)μ B . For ScFeCrSi and ScFeCrGe alloys, the charge density and interatomic bonding character show highly covalent and polar covalent character, respectively. For both alloys, 100% spin polarization (for spin ↑ state) is expected which is an indication of their suitability for applications in spintronic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Global food commodity diversification requires the application of new methods of data identification, monitoring, collection and processing in the production or distribution area. Classical systems of information transmission are currently widely used, but also present some inconvenience addressed by the emergence of new generations of information carriers. Current requirements for technical processes monitoring, quality assurance, traceability and customer orientation led to the emergence and evolution of modern identification systems based on dynamic information transmission and global databases development. The development of computer technology and the Internet are factors that allowed the development of these systems.

Sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) has been of particular concern in high strength low alloyed (HSLA) steels used in the oil industry, and the non-metallic inclusions are usually considered as a detrimental factor to the SSCC resistance. In the present work, continuous casting (CC) and electroslag remelting (ESR) were adopted to fabricate a 125 ksi grade steel in order to evaluate the effect of microstructure with and without primary NbC carbides (inclusions) on the SSCC resistance in the steel. It was found that ESR could remove the primary NbC carbides, and hence, slightly increase the strength without deteriorating the SSCC resistance. The elimination of primary NbC carbides caused two opposite effects on the SSCC resistance in the studied steel. On the one hand, the elimination of primary NbC carbides increased the dislocation density and the proportion of high angle boundaries (HABs), which was not good to the SSCC resistance. On the other hand, the elimination of primary NbC carbides also induced more uniform nanosized secondary NbC carbides formed during tempering, providing many irreversible hydrogen traps. These two opposite effects on SSCC resistance due to the elimination of primary NbC carbides were assumed to be offset, and thus, the SSCC resistance was not greatly improved using ESR.

In this work, microstructure and sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) of 304 stainless steel (SS) pre-strained at cryogenic and room temperature were studied. 304 SS exhibits extremely high SSCC susceptibility, which increases as pre-strain rises for the acceleration of AD and HE. Cryogenic pre-strained specimens present higher SSCC resistance. Pre-strain leads to the formation of strain-induced ε and α' martensite and increase of crystal defects such as deformation bands, twins, stacking faults and dislocation, which accelerates SSCC. Cryogenic deformation produces more martensite, and the uniform occurrence of microstructure evolution only plays a limited role in SSCC. • The microstructure of 304 SS strain-strengthened at cryogenic/ambient temperature was studied. • The SSCC of strain-strengthened 304 SS was comprehensively evaluated. • Cryogenically pre-strained 304 SS is less susceptible to corrosion and SSCC benefiting from uniform microstructure evolution. 17. The influence of initially unsaturated clay on the macro-stability of river dikes

- Abstract
In the Netherlands the design condition for a dike is surmised to occur during winter where it is assumed that the dike is fully saturated. Preliminary results by Van Duinen (2020) indicate that suction remains present, albeit ever decreasing, during the winter. This means that it would be possible for a dike to dry out during the summer period such that it becomes unsaturated, and that any effects may not have fully disappeared during a normative event. This problem is two-fold, as (i) the strength of an unsaturated soil is higher compared to a saturated soil, and (ii) it is unknown how the strength associated with the initially unsaturated zone can be modelled in a macro-stability calculation as it varies temporally. This report investigates the strength of the initially unsaturated zone in clay river dikes in the Eastern part of the Netherlands and it explores the opportunities which the better understanding of the strength may present for the factor of safety in a macro-stability calculation The feasibility and applicability of the SSCC as formulated by Lu and Likos (2006) for conventional geotechnical laboratory tests is investigated. A literature review bundles international knowledge on unsaturated soil behavior which is relevant in the context of dike design. Silty clay samples from the dike trajectory of Ravenstein-Lith were investigated using the SSCC. It can be successfully applied to K0-CAU triaxial test when determining strength parameters using strain-compatibility. Compared to its conventional variant, the saturation stage must be skipped. Samples are air-dried under laboratory conditions to a prescribed volumetric water content which can then be linked to an amount of suction using the SWCC and a comparison can be made with the closed form of the SSCC (Lu et al., 2010). The SSCC cannot be applied to DSS tests successfully. In DSS tests both slip and a diagonal failure plane was observed. This research was able to pinpoint, Civil Engineering

Highlights • The achievement of a proper circumferential decompression of the sac instead of simple posterior bilateral laminectomy has been progressively highlighted. • Since the majority of spinal cord compression involves firstly the ventral part of the sac, circumferential and anterior decompression are associated with better neurological outcomes at discharge and at follow-up, and should be achieved in case of circumferential or anterior/anterolateral compression. • Post-operative improvement and/or maintenance of ambulation resulted to be a significative protective factor at last follow-up., Introduction The impact of neurological deficits plays a role of inestimable importance in patients with a neoplastic disease. The role of surgery for the management of symptomatic spinal cord compression (SSCC) cannot be overemphasized, as surgery represents often the first and paramount step in patients presenting with motor deficits. The traditional paradigm of simple bilateral laminectomy for the treatment of spinal cord compression has been reviewed. The need to achieve a proper circumferential decompression of the spinal sac has been progressively highlighted in combination with the development of the more comprehensive and multidisciplinary concept of separation surgery. Objective The aim of this paper is to analyze different strategies of decompression, while evaluating whether circumferential/anterior decompression is able to guarantee a better control and restoration of neurological functions in patients with motor impairment, if compared to traditional posterior decompression. Materials and methods This is a retrospective observational study investigating symptomatic patients that underwent surgical treatment for spinal metastases at author’s Institutions from January 2010 to June 2019. Data recorded concerned patient demographics, tumor histology, peri-operative and follow-up neurological status (ASIA), ambulation ability, stability (SINS), grade (ESCC) and source of epidural compression and type of decompression (anterior/anterior-lateral (AD); posterior/posterior-lateral (PD/PDL); circumferential (CD)). Results A total number of 84 patients was included. AD/CD patients showed higher chance of neurological improvement and reduced rates of worsening compared to PD/PLD group (94.1%/100% vs 60.4%; 11.8% vs 45.8% respectively). Univariate logistic regression identified immediate post-operative improvement to be a significative protective factor for worsening at last follow-up. Stratifying patients for site of compression and considering anterior and circumferential groups, immediate post-operative neurological improvement, was mostly associated with AD and CD (p 0.011 and 0.025 respectively). Walking at last follow up was influenced by post-operative maintenance of ambulation (p 0.001). Conclusion The necessity to remove the epidural metastatic compression from its source should be considered of paramount importance. Since the majority of spinal cord compression involves firstly the ventral part of the sac, CD/AD are associated with better neurological outcomes and should be achieved in case of circumferential or anterior/anterolateral compression.

The electrochemical and sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) behaviors of 13Cr stainless steel and P110 steel were investigated in a simulated acidic annular environment with low-temperature and high-pressure HS/CO using electrochemical methods, U-bend immersion tests, and scanning electron microscopy. In the solution containing high pressure CO, 13Cr, and P110 steels exhibited general corrosion and severe pitting, respectively. Compared with sweet corrosion, additional HS in the solution enhanced the corrosion of 13Cr steel but inhibited the corrosion of P110 steel. By contrast, in a solution containing 4 MPa CO and different $$ {P}_{{{\text{H}}_{ 2} {\text{S}}}}$$ (0-0.3 MPa), the susceptibility of both 13Cr stainless steel and P110 steel toward SSCC was significantly promoted by increases in HS partial pressure. The 13Cr stainless steel exhibited higher susceptibility toward SSCC than P110 steel under a HS/CO environment but lower susceptibility under a pure CO environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Serial Shipment Container Code – SSCC) v povezavi z logistično nalepko in standard Elektronska dobavnica (ang. Despatch Advice – DESADV). Iz pridobljenih podatkov sem naredila analizo prednosti, slabosti, priložnosti in nevarnosti (ang. Analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats – SWOT) za SSCC. In the thesis, I focused on the use of GS1 standards in the selected company DSV Transport d.o.o. In the theoretical part of the thesis I presented GS1 standards in general. The Serial Shipment Container Code (SSCC) in conjunction with the logistics label and the Despatch Advice (DESADV) standard were highlighted in greater detail. I have identified the importance of these standards in logistics, transport and warehousing. In the research part of the assignment, in order to obtain data, I used the research method called an interview, which was conducted with two persons from DSV Transport. With the questions asked I wanted to find out whether the selected company DSV Transport applied the SSCC and DESADV standards and what were the advantages and benefits of using them. I learned about the existing way of tagging logistics units in chosen company, about the frequency of using SSCC and the consistency of customers when it comes to tagging the logistics units with SSCC. From the obtained data, I made an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) for SSCC. In my inquiry into the DESADV standard, I found that DSV Transport uses its in-house IT team and has a well-organized internal e-commerce.

Abstract: The strong and directional H-bonds formed between cation and anion in methylimidazolium dicyanamide ionic liquid [Mim+][N(CN)2 −] have been investigated using MP2, B3LYP, M052X and M062X methods in conjunction with the 6-311++G(2d,2p) basis set. With five preferential binding sites in the vicinity of the Mim+ ring, five ion pairs (A–E) were found on the potential energy surface. The binding energy, Gibbs free energy and enthalpy of formation, structural, volumetric (density, viscosity, conductivity and heat capacity) and topological properties as well as NMR one- and two bonds spin–spin coupling constants (SSCCs) were calculated. Ion pairs have electronic binding energies (BEs) in the range of −78 to −95kcal/mol at MP2/6-311++G (2d,2p) level, −73 to −90kcal/mol at B3LYP/6-311++G(2d,2p) level, −77 to −93kcal/mol at M052X/6-311++G(2d,2p) level and −78 to −94kcal/mol at M062X/6-311++G(2d,2p) level. The results show that the binding energy of ion pairs drastically diminishes with the polarity of solvent. The charge analysis was done using natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. The nature of intermolecular interactions in the [Mim+][N(CN)2 −] IL was characterized by Bader''s quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) method. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The susceptibility to sulphide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) of four conditions of shielded metal arc welding repairs and one as welded specimen of the girth weld in seamless API X-52 microalloyed steel pipe were evaluated using slow strain rate tests. The slow strain rate tests were performed in air and in a NACE solution saturated with H2S both at room temperature to a constant elongation rate of 25·4 × 10–6 mm s–1. The SSCC susceptibility was evaluated in function of the reduction in area ratio and elongation ratio and also was manifested as a decrease in the mechanical properties. According to this consideration it is clear that all the weldments exhibit a great susceptibility to SSCC. After failure, the fracture surfaces were observed in the scanning electron microscope. The metallographic observations of the fractured specimens showed that the most susceptible area to SSCC was the intercritical heat affected zone. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Results are presented for a study of resistance to different forms of corrosion and corrosion-mechanical failure of United Metallurgical Company oil and gas production pipes made of new pipe steels distinguished by a low carbon content (0.6–0.7%). It is shown that these steels satisfy the specifications of the corresponding TU with respect to corrosion resistance indices, they are not inclined towards sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC), hydrogen cracking of the “delamination” type (HIC), and hydrogenation. The steels may be recommended for pipes for gas field purposes and gas pipelines transporting corrosive hydrogen sulfide-containing media. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: 16MnR steel and SPV50Q steel belong to low-alloyed steels that are widely used to fabricate storage tank for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). However, both of them have a great tendency to the problem of environmental cracking under the service condition of LPG containing wet sulfide hydrogen (H2S) surpassing the lowest allowance for steels. In order to quantitatively evaluate the cracking susceptibility on these two steels in the wet H2S environment, slow strain rate tensile (SSRT) tests were performed at the rate of 1.0×10−6 s−1 in inert environment (air) and 500ppm H2S solution, respectively. After the SSRT tests were finished, the photographs of fracture surface and cracks were observed by scanning electron microscope and optical microscopy, respectively. The results showed that SPV50Q steel with higher strength had greater susceptibility to cracking than the 16MnR steel with lower strength and good toughness. Secondary cracks and distinctive features of brittle fracture were observed on fracture surface of both steels. The specimens of 16MnR steel failed by the interaction of HIC and SSCC, while for SPV50Q steel, SSCC was predominate. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The case study method in this paper shows the implementation of Information Technology (IT) and the Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) in a Croatian company that deals with logistics operations and provides logistics services in the cold chain segment. This company is aware of the sensitivity of the goods entrusted to them by the user of the service, as well as of the importance of speed and accuracy in providing logistics services. To that end, it has implemented and used the latest IT to ensure the highest standard of high-quality logistics services to its customers. Looking for efficiency and optimization of supply chain management, while maintaining a high level of quality of the products that are sold, today's users of outsourced logistics services are open to the implementation of new IT products that ultimately deliver savings. By analysing the positive results and the difficulties that arise when using this technology, we aim to provide an insight into the potential of this approach of the logistics service provider., {"references":["A. Assessment of the relative amounts of the forms of the imidazole ring of Histidine (His), namely the protonated (H+) and the tautomeric Nε2-H and Nδ1-H forms, respectively, is a challenging task in NMR spectroscopy. Indeed, their determination by direct observation of the 15N and 13C chemical shifts or the one-bond C[sbnd]H, 1JCH, Spin-Spin Coupling Constants (SSCC) requires knowledge of the “canonical” limiting values of these forms in which each one is present to the extent of 100%. In particular, at high-pH, an accurate determination of these “canonical” limiting values, at which the tautomeric forms of His coexist, is an elusive problem in NMR spectroscopy. Among different NMR-based approaches to treat this problem, we focus here on the computation, at the DFT level of theory, of the high-pH limiting value for the 1JCH SSCC of the imidazole ring of His. Solvent effects were considered by using the polarizable continuum model approach. The results of this computation suggest, first, that the value of 1JCε1H = 205 ± 1.0 Hz should be adopted as the canonical high-pH limiting value for this SSCC; second, the variation of 1JCε1H SSCC during tautomeric changes is minor, i.e., within ±1 Hz; and, finally, the value of 1JCδ2H SSCC upon tautomeric changes is large (15 Hz) indicating that, at high-pH or for non-protonated His at any pH, the tautomeric fractions of the imidazole ring of His can be predicted accurately as a function of the observed value of 1JCδ2H SSCC.

Locally dense basis set were developed for correlated ab initio calculations of vicinal fluorine fluorine indirect nuclear spin spin couplings in several saturated and unsaturated fluorinated hydrocarbons. We find that the choice of the basis set for each atom belonging to our studied model compounds depends on its location with respect to the coupled fluorine atoms and on the cis/trans or synperiplanar/antiperiplanar conformation of the molecule. Carbon atoms in the bonding path connecting the coupled fluorine atoms have to be described with better basis sets than the carbon atoms outside this path. For the hydrogen atoms directly connected to the coupling pathway in molecules with trans or antiperiplanar conformations and for all hydrogen atoms not directly connected to the coupling pathway one can employ a minimal basis set with only one s-function. Employing these type of LDBSs we can reduce the number of necessary basis functions by about 30% without losing more than about 1 Hz in accuracy. The analysis of the four contributions to the vicinal fluorine fluorine coupling constants shows that the non-contact orbital paramagnetic term is the most important contribution followed by the also non-contact spin-dipolar term. The Fermi contact term is the largest contribution only in the synperiplanar conformations of 1,2-difluoroethane and -propane. Fil: Sánchez, Marina. Universidad Nacional del Nordeste. - Abstract
