Exotic nuclei produced in nuclear fission or nuclear transfer reactions are of wide interest for nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics. To prepare these energetic ions for precision mass measurements, gas catchers are frequently used to slow them down and thermalize them. A new gas catcher is built to be used in the CISe setup [1] as well as in the NEXT experiment [2]. The working principle of the gas catcher and report on recent efficiency studies is explained. A 223Ra source was used to investigate ion guidance and ion extraction from the gas cell. Through alpha spectroscopy, it was shown that the daughter isotope 219Rn, with a half-life of 3.96 s, was successfully extracted from the gas-catcher. The ion-extraction was optimized by adjusting the electrode voltages and pressure inside the gas catcher. References [1] A. Bu tez çalışmasında medikal görüntüleme araçlarından biri olan Gama (Anger) Kamerası'nın, günümüz dedektör teknolojileri ile güncellenmesi hedeflenmiştir. İstanbul Üniversitesi Kardiyoloji Enstitüsü'nden temin edilen Elscint markalı Apex SPX CardiaL modeli gama kamerasının üzerindeki fotoçoğaltıcı tüplerin (PMT) yerine, fotoçoğalıtıcı tüplere göre birçok yönden avantajlı olan silikon fotoçoğaltıcılar (SiPM) ile tekrar tasarlanması üzerine çalışılmıştır. Yeni dedektör tasarımı ile elde edilen konum çözünürlüğünün en az eskisi kadar iyi olması hedeflenmiştir. Çıktı sinyali ve pozisyon belirleme elektroniği üzerine farklı yaklaşımlar test edilmiş ve tartışılmıştır. Üzerinde çalışılan gama kameraya ait yekpare Nal(Tl) inorganik sintilatör kristalini tamamen kaplamak icin kullanılacak SiPM sayısını minimumda tutmak için farklı boyutlarda ışık kılavuzları tasarlanmıştır. Kılavuzların gama kamera verimini ne derecede etkilediği test edilip tartışılmıştır. The purpose of this research is to upgrade the Gama (Anger) Camera, a medical imaging tool, with the help of the recent detector technologies. Instead of the existing photomultiplier tubes (PMT) on Elscint brand Apex SPX CardiaL model gamma camera (provided by Istanbul University, Institute of Cardiology), more favorable silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) are used to redesign the gamma camera. The aim is to minimize the position resolution difference caused by the two detector designs. Different approaches on the readout signal and the position detection electronics are tested and discussed. To completely cover the one-piece Nal(Tl) inorganic scintillator crystal of the gamma camera that is worked on, the required number of SiPM needs to be increased. Different sizes of light guides are designed to avoid this negative situation and to reduce the costs. To what extent the guides affect the productivity of gamma camera is also tested and discussed. 64

Tekniğine uygun tarımı uygulayabilmek, işleri zamanında ve düşük maliyetle yapabilmek, standart ve kaliteli ürün elde edebilmek için ceviz tarımında mekanizasyon uygulamalarının gerekliliği açıktır. Özellikle cevizin hasat ve hasat sonrası dış yeşil kabuğunun soyulması işlemleri ile birlikte ve devamında hızla kurutulması işleminin hem maliyetinin ve gerekli işgücünün yüksek ve hem de işlemlerin tekniğine uygun olarak yapılabilmesi için zamanın çok kısıtlı olması nedeniyle ülkemizde imalatı, bakımı, onarımı ve kullanımı kolay, ülkemiz koşullarında uygulanabilirliği yüksek olan bir ceviz kurutma makinasına ihtiyaç vardır. Bu nedenlerle, bu çalışmada, bir "Ceviz Kurutma Makinası"'nın ülkemiz koşullarına uygun olarak geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç için, gelişmiş ülkelerde yaygın olarak kullanılan ve sanayi halinde olan hava üflemeli kurutma sisteminin ülkemiz koşullarına adaptasyonunu sağlayarak bir Ceviz Kurutma Makinası geliştirilmiştir. Bunun için makine önce projelenmiş olup, ulusal sanayimizde yapımı gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ceviz tip ve çeşitleriyle yapılan deneme çalışmalarıyla makinada yapılan gerekli ayarlama ve düzenlemeler ile makine cevizi kurutmaya hazır hale getirilmiştir. After the projection of the machine which was produced by national industry. the trial setting and the necessary arrangements of walnut machine was applied according to type and variety of walnut and to get ready for drying. Bu çalışmada, Bursa koşullarında yetiştiriciliği yapılan Değirmendere, Erkenci Değirmendere, Yuvarlak Bardak, İri Bardak ve Uzun Memeli kızılcık yerel çeşitlerinde; kendilemenin ve serbest tozlanmanın meyve tutumuna etkisi araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca bu çeşitlerde in vitro koşullarında çiçek tozu canlılık ve çimlenme testleri yapılmıştır. Çeşitlerin çiçek tozu canlılık değerleri (% 56.02-75.01) genellikle yüksek bulunmuş, çimlenme düzeyi ise % 2.36-34.36 değerleri arasında değişim göstermiştir. Tüm çeşitlerde % 15 sakkaroz konsantrasyonundan en iyi çimlenme (% 13.85-34.36) oranı elde edilmiştir. Çeşitlerin serbest tozlanma koşullarındaki meyve tutma oranları % 11.50-13.93 ve kendilemelerdeki meyve tutma oranları ise % 1.0-5.73 arasında değişmiştir. Ancak, çiçek tozu borularının dişicik borusu içindeki gelişimleri, kendileme ve serbest tozlaşma koşullarında belirgin bir farklılık göstermemiş, diğer meyve türlerinde dişicik borusunda görülen tipik uyuşmazlık belirtilerine rastlanmamıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, incelenen kızılcık çeşitlerinden yüksek düzeyde ürün elde edebilmek için yabancı tozlaşmanın gerekliliğini ortaya koymaktadır

Bu çalışma 2004–2005 yılları arasında Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Bahçe Bitkileri Bölümünde ve Atatürk Bahçe Kültürleri Merkez Araştırma Enstitü- sündeki ayva koleksiyon bahçesinde4 yer alan standart ayva çeşitleri üzerinde yapılmıştır. Çeşitlerin çiçeklenme zamanları ve çiçek tozlarının çimlenme güçleri %0, %5, %10 ve %15 sakkaroz içeren ortamlarda asılı damla yöntemine göre belirlenmiştir. Tozlamadan 24 saat sonra alınan örneklerde çiçek tozu borusunun dişicik borusundaki gelişme hızı ve durumu lakmoid boyama yöntemine göre incelenmiştir. Tozlamalardan sonra tüm kombinasyonlarda belirli aralıklarla meyve sayımı yapılarak meyve tutma oranları ve hasat zamanı elde edilen meyvelerin ağırlıkları ölçülmüş- tür. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre, çiçek tozları çeşitlerin çoğunda %10 ve %15 sakkaroz içeren ortamlarda en yüksek çimlenmeyi göstermişler ve çimlenme oranları %26,25 ile %100,00 arasında değişmiştir. Kendileme ve melezleme kombinasyonlarında çiçek tozu borularının dişicik borularındaki gelişmelerinde herhangi bir farklılık ve anormallik gözlemlenmemiş bazı çiçek tozu boruları tozlanmadan 24 saat sonra tohum taslağına ulaşmıştır. Melezleme ve kendilemeler arasında meyve tutma değerleri bakımından bir fark saptanmamış ve meyve tutma oranları %49,9 ile %76,1 arasında değişmiştir. Melezleme ve kendilemelerden elde edilen meyvelerin ağırlıkları arasında önemli bir farklılığa rastlanmamış, bu bakımdan çeşitler arasında önemli bir değişim görülmüştür. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre çalışılan bu 15 ayva çeşidi kendine verimli olup, bu çeşitlerle tek çeşit kullanılarak kapama bahçe kurulması önerilebilir.

Tekniğine uygun tarımı uygulayabilmek, işleri zamanında ve düşük maliyetle yapabilmek, standart ve kaliteli ürün elde edebilmek için ceviz yetiştiriciliğinde mekanizasyon uygulamalarının gerekliliği açıktır. Özellikle cevizin hasat işlemleri hem maliyetinin ve işgücünün yüksek ve hem de işlemlerin tekniğine uygun olarak yapılabilmesi için zamanın çok kısıtlı olması nedeniyle ülkemizde imalatı, bakımı, onarımı ve kullanımı kolay, maliyeti düşük, ülkemiz koşullarında uygulanabilirliği yüksek olan hasat makinalarına ihtiyaç vardır. Bu nedenlerle, bu çalışmada, ülkemiz koşullarına uyarlanabilmesi açısından bir gövde sarsıcı hasat makinası satın alınmış ve dal sarsıcı hasat makinası yaptırılmıştır. Bu amaç için, gelişmiş ülkelerde yaygın olarak kullanılan ve sanayi halinde olan hasat işlemlerinin ülkemizde de kolayca yapılabilmesi için yukarıda sözü edilen makinalar temin edilerek projede kullanılmış ve çalışmadan elde edilen veriler ışığında üreticilerimizin hizmetine sunulmuştur. Satın alınan gövde sarsıcı hasat makinası yapılan ön çalışmalar sonucu, tutma pensesi kapanma aralığı 20 cm’den sıfıra indirilmiştir. Dal sarsıcı hasat makinası genliği 7 farklı ölçüde ayarlanabilir hale getirilmiştir. Deneme bahçesinde ağaç taç hacmi, gövde ve taç yüksekliği, gövde çapı gibi bazı ağaç özellikleri tesbit edilmiştir. Olgunlaşma zamanında meyve kopma kuvvetleri dinamometre ile ölçülmüş, ethephone’un etkisi tespit edilmiştir. Gövde sarsıcı, dal sarsıcı makinalar ve sırıkla hasat yapılmış, yöntemlerin etkinlikleri ve zaman kıyaslamaları yapılmıştır. Yapılan çalışmalarda ceviz hasadında gövde sarsıcı hasat makinası kullanmanın daha avantajlı olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu araştırma TÜBİTAK Kamag 106 G 152 Nolu proje ile desteklenmiştir.

Bu çalışmada 14 Türk kestane genotipinde fenotipik ve genotipik farklılıklar incelenmiştir. Genotipler, hem genetik olarak hem de 12’si kalitatif ve 18’i kantitatif olmak üzere toplam 30 morfolojik kritere göre analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada, Sinop, Samsun, Artvin ve Bartın illerinden seçilen farklı kestane genotipleri arasındaki filogenetik ilişkiler belirlenmiştir. Morfolojik kriterler çok değişkenli analizler kullanılarak biometrik olarak araştırılmıştır. Genotiplerin ayırt edilmesinde 10 morfolojik kriterin etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bunlardan beşinin genotipler arasındaki farklılığın %64,1’ini açıkladığı saptanmıştır. Bu kriterler: diş uzunluğu/diş genişliği oranı, hilum uzunluğu/meyve uzunluğu oranı, yaprakta enine kesit, meyve yüksekliği/meyve uzunluğu oranı ve tohum zarının soyulabilirliği’dir. Morfolojik kriterlere göre yapılan kümeleme analizinde dört ana grubun oluştuğu görülmüştür. “Dice” katsayısı RAPD analizi ile sonuçlarına gore hesaplanmış ve genetik benzerlik durumunun değerlendirilmesinde kullanılmıştır. Buna göre de 3 ana grubun oluştuğu görülmüştür. Filogenetik ağaçlar UPGMA metoduna göre oluşturulmuştur. Genetik ve morfolojik dendogramlar Mantel testi yardımıyla karşılaştrılmış ve r=-0.33 korelasyon katsayısı hesaplanmıştır. Bu çalışma seçilen genotiplerin gelecekte yapılacak ıslah çalışmaları için değerli genetik kaynaklar olduğunu göstermiştir., Here we report phenotypic and genotypic differences among 14 Turkish chestnut genotypes. The genotypes were analyzed both genetically and for 30 morphological criteria comprising 12 qualitative and 18 quantitative characteristics. The phylogenetic relationships were determined between different chestnut genotypes selected from Sinop, Samsun, Artvin and Bartin provinces of Black Sea Region in Turkey. Morphological criteria were investigated biometrically using multivariate analysis. Ten morphological criteria were found to be effective for discrimination between the genotypes. Five morphological criteria accounts for 64.1% of the variability. These morphological criteria were the ratio of length of teeth to width of teeth, the ratio of length of hilum to length of fruit, cross section of leaves, the ratio of height of fruit to length of fruit and peeling of testa. The discrimination of morphological criteria was shown using cluster analysis, which created four main groups. Dice’s coefficient was used to evaluate the genetic similarity by RAPD analysis, which created three main groups. The UPGMA method was used for the determination of phylogenetic trees. The genetic and morphological dendrograms were compared using the Mantel test, which gave a correlation of r=-0.33. This research was conducted with the aim to control the chestnut blight disease (Cryphonectria parasitica (Murrill) Barr) in a chestnut orchard in 1998-2003. Grafted trees of SA 5-1, SE 3-12, SE 18-2, SE 21-2, SE 21-9, 552-8, 552-10, 554-2, 554-14, 552-7 and 556-8 chestnut genotypes, copper oxychlorite (5%), benomyl 50 WP (60 g /100 1 water) and some hypovirulent strains were used and effects of cultural, chemical and biological control methods on controlling the chestnut blight disease were investigated in this study. Total mortality rates due to disease were changed in the range of 12.5 and 87.5 % for chesnut genotypes. The highest dryness rate was SA 5-1 genotype (87.5%) and the lowest dryness rate was 552-8 genotype (12.5%)

Stamen morphologies of six cornelian cherry cultivars (Degirmendere, Erkenci Degirmendere, Iri Bardak, Yuvarlak Bardak, Uzun Memeli, and Bugur) (Cornus mas L.) were evaluated using scanning electron, light and stereo microscopes. Flowers of cornelian cherry cultivars generally had four stamens, but a few of them had three or five stamens. Abnormal and normal stamens were found together in the cultivars examined. Percentages of abnormal stamens among the cultivars ranged from 12% to 22%. Various types of stamen abnormalities were identified in the cultivars such as variations in filament length, abnormalities in anther structure, fusion of stamen to other floral organs. Pollen grain numbers per anther varied between 1,380 and 4,240 among the cultivars. Abnormal anther surface morphology in the cultivars consisted of uneven and swollen epidermal cells. Anther dimensions varied between 624.00 and 1,001.25 mu m in length and 460.50 and 745.50 mu m in width. Anthers of all the cultivars had subprolate and prolate type of shapes.

Bu çalışma, 04 Mart 2009 tarihleri arasında Bursa[Türkiye]’da düzenlenen International Workshop on Chestnut Management in Mediterranean Countries - Problems and Prospects’da bildiri olarak sunulmuştur. Anatolia contains large chestnut populations (Castanea sativa Mill.) and chestnut culture has been developed here since ancient times. Scientific studies have been done in Turkey for over 50 years. Early studies were conducted primarily on chestnut diseases e. g. ink disease (caused by Phytophthora cambivora) and chestnut blight disease (caused by Cryphonectria parasitica). Recently, selection studies were started for improving the cultivars. The main selection studies were conducted first in the Marmara Region and then in the Black Sea and Aegean Regions. Although many of the selected genotypes and local cultivars have shown high level of productivity and quality, they are susceptible to the chestnut blight. For this reason chestnut grooves have seriously suffered from this disease. Breeding work is needed to develop trees with resistance and to improve some of the quality parameters of the cultivars being grown. In this article the objects of the breeding work, the subjects of the improvements, and the methods which must be used for reaching the goals of the cultivar breeding in Turkey are discussed.

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of explant source and collection time on meristem tip culture from M9, MM106, and MM111 clonal apple rootstocks. Meristem tips were collected on 3 different times, from the terminal and lateral shoots of 1-2 year old potted plants. After surface sterilization of the explants, the meristem tips were excised and placed in tubes containing MS (1/2xNH(4) NO(3) and K NO(3)) medium supplemented with 0.5 mg /l BAP, 0.1 mg/l GA(3) and 0.1 mg/l IBA. The multiplication medium consisted of MS, supplemented with 1 mg/l BAP, 0.5 mg/l GA(3) and 0.1 mg/l IBA. After two consecutive sub culture the shootlets were excised and transferred to the rooting medium containing MS supplemented with 0.5 mg/l IBA. Shoot formation ratios from the meristem tips were good for the rootstocks, but the collection time and source of the meristem affected these ratios. Higher shoot formation was 95.4% for the M9 from terminal shoots collected on June the 8(th), 93.3% for the MM106 from lateral shoots and 81.2% for the MM111 from terminal shoots collected on June the 16(th). The optimum explant collection time was the time when the shoots tend to decrease their growth rate. One of the main problems during shootlet formation and multiplication steps was vitrification especially for M9 rootstock. Tissue browning in the explants immediately after establishment in the medium or during early stage of development of the shootlets was also higher especially for MM111 rootstock. General averages of the multiplication coefficients for the rootstocks were as follow: 4.16 for M9, 5.33 for MM106, and 5.74 for MM111. Rooting ability of the shootlets was higher (62.5-90.3%) for MM106, medium (53.6-66.6%) for M9, and low (12.1-40.0%) for MM111. We found that meristem tip culture are difficult with M9 and MM111 but feasible with MM106 rootstock.

Bu çalışma, 13-16 Ekim 2009 tarihleri arasında Cuneo[İtalya]’da düzenlenen 1. European Congress on Chestnut - Castanea’da bildiri olarak sunulmuştur. Recently, an increasing concern on chestnut and chestnut cultivation has been showing again in Turkey. The nuts are consumed directly in roasted or boiled form or evaluated as value added products such as chestnut desserts and candied chestnut. In this research, the suitability to candied chestnut of some native chestnut cultivars, 'Haciomer', 'Sariaslama', 'Osmanoglu', 'Ali Molla' and the French hybrid cultivars 'Marigoule 15' and 'Maraval 74' has been studied. For this purpose moisture (%), protein (%), total sugar (%), starch (%), total carbohydrates (%), polyphenol oxidase activity, L-a-b color values of raw materials and candied chestnut were determined. Following results were obtained from the study. Seed composition of the cultivars were: 5.58-7.35 g/100 g protein; 15.24-22.11 g/100 g total sugars; 34.24-45.37 g/100 g starch; 58.18-66.21 g/100 g total carbohydrates (on the dry matter basis). The polyphenol oxidase activity of the cultivars were found between 442.54-1730.67 U/g. Additionally, peeling easiness of shell and seed pellicle, proportion of remnant of pellicle in the seed, and syrup absorption characters of the seeds were analyzed. It was determined that 'Haciomer' is the most suitable cultivar if the autoclave method is used in candied chestnut production. Also, seeds of this cultivar took the second row in relation to syrup absorption rate with 44%. According to sensory analysis results, 'Ali Molla', 'Haciomer' and 'Osmanoglu' were the most preferred cultivars taking the highest points.

Turkey is a main chestnut producing country in the world. Significant differences in nut production took place in the last half century mainly due to the fatal diseases e. g., ink disease (Phytophthora sp.) and chestnut blight (Cryphonectria parasitica). The harmful effect of these diseases varied region to region. Nut export quantity also fluctuated in this period connected with the production level. Economical importance of the chestnut is not only coming from the fresh nut but various kinds of nut products have also been important. Candied chestnut is the most famous product among them. Some additional new products were offered to the taste of the society. Chestnut flour is another product of chestnut fruits which can be used. Some of these products have also been exported. Both fresh and processed materials showed increasing tendency in respect of export quantity. In the last decade nut production showed also an increasing tendency because the fatal effect of the chestnut blight gradually decreased. All of these subjects are discussed in detail in this paper.

Bu çalışma, 1 Ekim 2009 tarihinde Pekin[Çin]'de düzenlenen 4. International Chestnut Symposium'da bildiri olarak sunulmuştur. This research was carried out on 16 chestnut genotypes in the Black Sea region of Turkey in 2004-2005. Twenty morphological traits including dimensions of shoots, buds, leaves, stamens, nuts and number of lenticels on shoots were investigated. Statistically significant correlations were found between some morphological traits. For example length of shoot-number of lenticels, length of shoot-length of bud, thickness of shoot-leaf size, length of tooth-length of nut, length of stamen-fruit weight, fruit weight-fruit shell cracking correlated with each other significantly. The significance levels of the correlation coefficients have been presented.

Bu çalışma, 01 Ekim 2009 tarihleri arasında Beijing[Çin]’da düzenlenen 4. International Chestnut Symposium’da bildiri olarak sunulmuştur. Chestnuts (Castanea spp.) can be propagated by tissue culture methods such as meristem tip culture, shoot tip culture and bud culture. However, some limiting factors prevent using these methods extensively. For example, the explant collection periods of these methods are short, and the collection time is critical. In addition, shoot formation ratios of explants on the initial media and survival of these shootlets thereafter are generally low due to factors such as infection, browning, and vitrification. In this study the shoot apex of the dormant buds were used as the explants source for the first time. By use of this method the explant collection period was much longer and the mass multiplication probability increased. Three chestnut cultivars native to Turkey - 'Sariaslama', 'Osmanoglu' and 'Haciomer' Castanea sativa Mill. - were used in the study in two years of experiments 2007 and 2008. Two main media were used as initial to obtain shootlets: MS (1/2xNH(4)NO(3) and KNO3) and DKW (Driver-Kuniyuki walnut medium). In multiplication step MS (1/2xNH(4)NO(3) medium was used with 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 mg/L BAP concentrations and in rooting MS (1/2xNH(4)NO(3) with 1.0 and 2.0 mg/L IBA concentrations were used. Shootlet formation from the explants in 2008 was higher (66.66-95.45%) than in 2007 (42.00-75.00%). MS (1/2xNH(4)NO(3) and KNO3) medium has given successful results in this respect. Therefore it can be recommended as a growing medium. The multiplication coefficient varied between 3.12 to 3.57 in 2007 and 3.95 to 4.76 in 2008 according to the cultivars. Rooting of the shootlets was difficult, and no rooted shootlet was obtained. However the experiment is now being continued, and new rooting media will be tested. The results obtained from this study showed that this method can be efficiently used in the mass multiplication of chestnuts.

The possible cause of low fruit set in 0900 Ziraat sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) was investigated. Pollination conditions, ovule development, incompatibility, and fruit set were evaluated under natural conditions. Results indicated that pollen transfer to the stigmas was sufficient, and pollen tube growth was normal. Ovule development in most pistils examined was not normal, and this was likely the cause of the low set in this cultivar. Les chercheurs ont tenté d’élucider la faible nouaison du cultivar 0900 Ziraat du cerisier (Prunus avium L.). Ils ont évalué la pollinisation, le développement de l’ovule, l’incompatibilité et la nouaison dans des conditions naturelles. Les résultats indiquent qu’il y a un transfert suffisant de pollen aux stigmates et que le tube pollinique se développe normalement. Toutefois, le développement de l’ovule était anormal dans la plupart des pistils examinés, ce qui explique sans doute la nouaison décevante du cultivar.

ÖZETBu çalışma 2004-2005 yılları arasında Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi Ziraat FakültesiBahçe Bitkileri Bölümünde, Atatürk Bahçe Kültürleri Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsündeki ayvakoleksiyon bahçesinde yer alan Demir-1, Tekkeş, Gördes, Bardak, Ege 22, Ege 25, Ekmek(Yalova), Beyaz Ayva, Viranyadevi, Havan, Bencikli, Eşme 14, Altın (Yalova), LimonAyvası, Şekeregevrek çeşitleri üzerinde yapılmıştır.Çeşitlerin çiçeklenme zamanları gözlemlere göre belirlenmiş, çiçek tozu çimlendirmedenemeleri ile melezleme ve kendilemelerde kullanılmak üzere her çeşitten yeterli düzeydeçiçek tozu elde edilmiştir. Çeşitlerin çiçek tozlarının çimlendirme testleri %0, %5, %10 ve%15 sakkaroz içeren ortamlarda asılı damla yöntemine göre belirlenmiştir. Tozlamadan 24saat sonra alınan örneklerde çiçek tozu borusunun dişicik borusundaki gelişme hızı ve durumulakmoid boyama yöntemine göre incelenmiştir. Preperatlar, ezme yöntemine görehazırlanmıştır.Tozlamalardan sonra tüm kombinasyonlarda belirli aralıklarla meyve sayımı yapılarakmeyve tutma oranları belirlenmiş, hasat zamanı elde edilen meyvelerin ağırlıkları ölçülerekmeyve kalitesi araştırılmıştır.Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar aşağıda özetlenmiştir.⢠Yapılan fenolojik gözlemler sonucunda üzerinde çalışılan ayva çeşitlerinin çiçeklenmezamanlarının birbirine yakın olduğu ve 16 Nisan-1 Mayıs tarihleri arasında meydanageldiği belirlenmiştir.⢠Çiçek tozu çimlendirme testleri sonucunda çeşitlerin çoğu %10 ve %15 sakkaroziçeren ortamlarda en yüksek çimlenmeyi göstermişlerdir. Farklı olarak Demir-1 veEkmek (Yalova) çeşidinde en yüksek çimlenme %5'lik sakkaroz ortamından, Ege 25çeşidinde ise %0'lık ortamdan elde edilmiştir. Ege 22 çeşidinde bütünkonsantrasyonlar birbirine yakın sonuçlar vermiştir.⢠Çiçek tozlarının çimlenme öncesinde bünyesine su çekerek üçgenimsi bir şekilaldıklarını buradan da çiçek tozlarının üç porlu oldukları anlaşılmaktadır. Çiçek tozuborularının ise düzgün doğrusal bir gelişme gösterdikleri gözlemlenmiştir.⢠Kendileme ve melezleme kombinasyonlarında çiçek tozu borularının dişicikborularındaki gelişmelerinde herhangi bir farklılık ve anormallik gözlemlenmemiş,bazı çeşitlerde tozlamadan 24 saat sonra çiçek tozu borularının yumurtalığa çokyaklaştığı görülmüştür.⢠Yapılan istatistiksel değerlendirmeler sonucunda melezleme ve kendilemeler arasındameyve tutma değerleri bakımından bir fark saptanmamıştır. Çeşitlere göre meyvetutma oranları % olarak en yüksek % 76.1 ile Havan çeşidinde kendileme'den, endüşük % 49.9 ile Ege 22 çeşidinde melezleme'den elde edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar,incelenen ayva çeşitlerinin kendine verimli olduğunu göstermektedir.⢠Melezleme ve kendilemelerden elde edilen meyveler incelendiğinde önemli birfarklılığa rastlanmamış. Meyve ağırlığı olarak kendileme ve melezlemeler arasındaistatiksel önemli bir fark olmadığı görülmüştür. Tüm kombinasyonlar içerisinde en irimeyve, Gördes (464.9g) çeşidinde kendileme çalışmasından elde edilmiş en küçükmeyve ise Ege 25'in melezleme kombinasyonundan (199.4g) elde edilmiştir.⢠Yapılan bütün bu incelemeler göstermiştir ki çalışılan bu 15 ayva çeşidi kendineverimlidir, bu çeşitlerle tek çeşit kullanılarak kapama bahçe kurulabilir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Ayva, tozlaşma, meyve tutma ABSTRACTSTUDIES ON THE FERTILIZATION BIOLOGY OF STANDART QUINCECULTIVARS (Cydonia oblonga Mill.)This study was conducted in the Departmant of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture,Uludağ University, on the standart Quince cultivars established in the orchard at YalovaCentral Horticultural Research Institute.Flowering period of the cultivars was determined. Pollens of the cultivars werecollected for using in germination tests, and in crossing and selfing studies. Germination testswere performed in vitro containing 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% sucrose solutions by the hangingdrop method. The rate of pollen tube growth in the style of selfed and crossed flowers wasdetermined on the samples, that taken 24 hours after pollination by Lacmoid staining method.The squash technique was used for observation the pollen tube growth.Following results were obtained from the study.⢠Flowering period of the quince cultivars were close to each other and occurredbetween April 16 to May 1.⢠Pollen germination rates were highest, in 10% and 15% sucrose and from thesolution without sucrose concentrations. Although the highest rates were obtainedfrom 5% sucrose solution on Demir-1 and Ekmek (Yalova), cultivars. All of theconcentrations gave similar results in Ege 22 cultivar.⢠Pollens drew water before germination in the solutions and took a triangular shape.They have three pores. Pollen tubes grew straightly in the media.⢠Pollen tube growth was not different and was normal in the crossed and selfed styles.Any sign of the incompatibility was not observed. Same of the pollen tubes reachedto near by the ovules.⢠Fruit set rates of crossed and selfed flowers were not significanty different from eachother according to the analysis of variance. The highest fruit set ratio was obtainedfrom the selfing of Havan cultivar (76.1%), and the lowest fruit set was obtainedfrom the crossing of Ege 22 cultivar (%49.9). These results showed that the quincecultivars studied were self-fruitful.⢠The fruits obtained from the crossings and selfings were not significantly differentfrom each other with respect to the general appearance and fruit weight. The largestfruit was obtained from the selfing of Gördes cultivar (464,9g), and the smallest onewas obtained from the crossing of Ege 25 (199,4g).⢠All of these results showed that 15 quince cultivars were self-fruitful, and a quinceorchard can be established with a single cultivar.Key Word: Quince, pollination, fruit set 65

Bu çalışmada, Bursa koşullarında yetiştiriciliği yapılan Değirmendere, Erkenci Değirmendere, Yuvarlak Bardak, İri Bardak ve Uzun Memeli kızılcık yerel çeşitlerinde; kendilemenin ve serbest tozlanmanın meyve tutumuna etkisi araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca bu çeşitlerde in vitro koşullarında çiçek tozu canlılık ve çimlenme testleri yapılmıştır. Çeşitlerin çiçek tozu canlılık değerleri (% 56.02-75.01) genellikle yüksek bulunmuş, çimlenme düzeyi ise % 2.36-34.36 değerleri arasında değişim göstermiştir. Tüm çeşitlerde % 15 sakkaroz konsantrasyonundan en iyi çimlenme (% 13.85-34.36) oranı elde edilmiştir. Çeşitlerin serbest tozlanma koşullarındaki meyve tutma oranları % 11.50-13.93 ve kendilemelerdeki meyve tutma oranları ise % 1.0-5.73 arasında değişmiştir. Ancak, çiçek tozu borularının dişicik borusu içindeki gelişimleri, kendileme ve serbest tozlaşma koşullarında belirgin bir farklılık göstermemiş, diğer meyve türlerinde dişicik borusunda görülen tipik uyuşmazlık belirtilerine rastlanmamıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, incelenen kızılcık çeşitlerinden yüksek düzeyde ürün elde edebilmek için yabancı tozlaşmanın gerekliliğini ortaya koymaktadır. This study was conducted to determine the fruit set of cornelian cherry (Cornus mas L.) local cultivars: Değirmendere, Erkenci Değirmendere, Yuvarlak Bardak, İri Bardak and Uzun Memeli, under self and free pollination conditions. In addition viability and germination tests of pollen grains were performed in vitro conditions. Viability and germinability rates of pollen grains changed between 56.02- 75.01% and 2.36-34.30%, respectively. Higher level of germinations 13.85-34.36% obtained from 15% of sucrose concentration. Fruit set of the cultivars under free pollination conditions changed between 11.50- 13.93% and self pollination conditions changed between 1.0-5.73%. However, pollen tube growth in the self pollinated and cross pollinated styles under free pollination conditions did not show any differences, and any incompatibility signs. The results of this study showed that cornelian cherry cultivars need cross pollination to set high level of crop.

The flower and stamen structures of four male-fertile (`Firdola', `Karamehmet', `Sariaslama', and `Haciomer') and two male-sterile (`Osmanoglu' and `Vakit Kestanesi') chestnut cultivars were evaluated using scanning electron and light microscopes. Anther dimensions and pollen production capabilities were also determined. Stamens of the male-fertile cultivars showed more distinct flowering habit than male-sterile cultivars, which failed to show visible flowering due to shorter stamens. Flower clusters on the catkins had six to seven flowers while the mean number of stamens per flower varied from 9.50 to 11.95 among the cultivars, except for `Osmanoglu' with 2.60 stamens per flower. Some `Osmanoglu' flowers had no stamens or abnormal stamens (e.g., lacking anthers) or abortive anthers. Stamens of the male-sterile cultivar Vakit Kestanesi had short filaments and small anthers with few or no pollen. The pollen number per anther was significantly lower in the male-sterile than in the male-fertile cultivars. Three different kinds of anther surface morphologies were determined among the cultivars. The surface structure of male-fertile cultivars consisted of polygonal epidermis cells. Male-sterile `Osmanoglu' had long polygonal epidermis cells, which had a thread-like surface appearance. Male-sterile `Vakit Kestanesi' had epidermis cells with hollow middles and swollen edges. In male-sterile cultivars the length of the anthers was significantly less than that of the male-fertile cultivars. The anther wall of the male-fertile cultivars consisted of three clearly different cell layers. However, the anther walls of the male-sterile cultivars were not complete in all cases, and the number of layers varied from one to three.

ÖZET Bu çalışma, 2002-2004 yıllan arasında Uludağ Üniversitesi, Ziraat Fakültesi, Bahçe Bitkileri Bölümü Laboratuarı' nda, Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Histoloji Bölümüne ait Geçirimli Elektron Mikroskop (TEM) Laboratuarında ve Osmangazi Üniversitesine ait Taramalı Elektron Mikroskop (SEM) Laboratuarında yürütülmüştür. Fertil olan Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304), Sarıaşlama (51111), Hacıömer (52214) ve erkek kısır olan Osmanoğlu (51101), Vakit Kestanesi (52112) çeşitlerinde çalışılmış ve çeşitlerin erkek çiçek yapıları, başçık ve çiçek tozlarının yüzeysel yapıları, boyutları, şekilleri ve anatomileri ayrıntılı olarak incelenmiş ve aralarındaki farklılıklar belirlenmiştir. Araştırmadan aşağıdaki sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Çalışmada yer alan çeşitlere ait püsküllerde bulunan kümelerdeki erkek çiçek sayısı 6-7; çiçekteki ortalama erkek organ (stamen) sayısı 9.50-11.95 olarak saptanmış, Osmanoğlu (51101) çeşidinde, bu sayı 2.60 olarak bulunmuştur. İncelenen fertil ve kısır kestane çeşitlerinde erkek organ (stamen) yapıları bakımından önemli farklılıklar bulunmuştur. Firdola (62309) ve Karamehmet (62304) çeşitlerinde sapçıklar uzun olup belirgin bir çiçeklenme gösterirler, Sarıaşlama (51111) çeşidinde orta uzunlukta olup, başçıklar tepallerin kısmen dışına çıkmaktadır. Hacıömer (52214) çeşidinde ise erkek organların boyu, tepal boyu kadar olabilmektedir. Osmanoğlu (51 101 ) çeşidinde sapçıklar kısadır yada sapçıklar uzun olup çiçek örtüsü içerisinde kıvrılmış durumdadır. Vakit Kestanesi (52112) çeşidinde sapçıklar çok kısadır, başçıklar çiçek örtüsünün dip kısmında bulunmaktadır. Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304), Sarıaşlama (51111) ve Hacıömer (52214) çeşitlerinin çiçekleri normal yapılı erkek organlara sahiptir. Osmanoğlu (51101) ve Vakit Kestanesi (52112) çeşitlerinin çiçekleri içerisinde anormal yapılı erkek organlar bulunmakta ve bu anormallikler her iki çeşitte farklı şekilde olmaktadır. Osmanoğlu (51101) çeşidinde çiçeklerin bir kısmının içinin boş olduğu (%36) ve erkek organ oluşumunun olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Bir kısmında da sadece sapçıklar mevcuttur, başçıklar yoktur (%24.42) ya da102 gelişimini tamamlayamamış başçıklar (%64.54) bulunmaktadır. Çiçekler içerisinde anormal yapılı erkek organlarla birlikte, az sayıda (%11.05) çiçek tozlarını içeren normal yapılı erkek organlar da görülmüştür. Vakit Kestanesi (52112) çeşidinin erkek organları çok kısa sapçık ve küçük başçıklara sahiptir. Başçıkların çoğu normal görünümlüdür, bazıları ise büzüşmüş ve soluk renklidir. Başçıkların büyük bir kısmı içsel gelişimini tamamlayamamıştır ve başçık bölmelerinin iç kısmı farklılaşmamış doku kitlesinden oluşmaktadır. Çok az başçığın (%2.64) çiçek tozu içerdiği saptanmıştır. Çeşitler arasında üç farklı başçık yüzey yapısı tespit edilmiştir. Fert i I çeşitlerin aynı başçık yüzey yapısına, kısır çeşitlerin ise hem fertil çeşitlerin yüzey yapısından ve hem de birbirlerinden farklı başçık yüzey yapılarına sahip olduğu saptanmıştır. Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304), Sarıaşlama (51111) ve Hacıömer (52214) çeşitlerinin başçık yüzey yapısı çokgen şekilli kabarık epiderma hücrelerinden meydana gelmektedir. Osmanoğlu (51101) çeşidinde, epiderma hücreleri daha ince, uzun olmakla birlikte hücrelerin üzeri ipliksi yapıdadır. Vakit Kestanesi (52112) çeşidi tamamen farklı bir yüzey yapısına sahiptir ve epiderma hücrelerinin iç kısmı çukur, kenar kısımları kabarık durumda olup ağ şeklinde bir görünümdedir. Başçık boyutlarında önemli farklılıklar bulunmaktadır. Başçık enine uzunluk değeri Hacıömer (52214) (443.0 um), boyuna uzunluk değeri Firdola (62309) (464.6 um) çeşitlerinde en yüksek, Vakit Kestanesi (52112) çeşidinde ise en (208.8 um), boy (164.5 um) değerleri en düşük olarak tespit edilmiştir. Vakit Kestanesi (52112) çeşidinin başçıklarının, diğer çeşitlerle kıyaslandığında önemli derecede küçük olduğu saptanmıştır. Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304) Sarıaşlama (51111) ve Osmanoğlu (51101) çeşitlerinin başçıkları yuvarlağa yakın boyuna elips, Hacıömer (52214), Vakit Kestanesi (52112) çeşitlerinin başçıklarının ise yuvarlağa yakın hafif enine elips şeklinde olduğu bulunmuştur. Sarıaşlama (51111) ve Hacıömer (52214) çeşitlerinin daha bir örnek başçık yapılarına sahip olduğu (cv=7.98-8.13; 5.41-7.54), özellikle Vakit Kestanesi'nde (52112) (cv=1 3.41 -17.20) bir örnekliğin az olduğu tespit edilmiştir.103 Bir başçığa düşen ortalama çiçek tozu sayısı 120-5200 adet arasında değişmiş, bu bakımdan fertil ve kısır kestane çeşitleri arasında istatistiki açıdan önemli bir farklılık tespit edilmiştir. Fertiliteden kısırlığa doğru çiçek tozu sayısının azaldığı görülmüş, kısır çeşitlerde çiçek tozu sayısı çok düşük olarak saptanmış ve kısır çeşitler, fertil çeşitlerin ürettiği çiçek tozu sayısının ancak % 2.31 -4.81 'ini üretmiştir. Çiçek tozu yüzey yapısı, açıklık tipi ve sayısı bakımından fertil ve erkek kısır kestane çeşitleri arasında belirgin bir farklılık tespit edilmemiştir. Tüm çeşitlerde üç açıklık (apertür) bölgesi bulunmaktadır. Açıklıklar, hem kolpi, hemde porları içerdiği için kolporat tiptedir ve bunlar çiçek tozu üzerinde eşit aralıklarla dizilmiş durumdadırlar. Kolpiler hemen hemen çiçek tozu uzunluğu kadar olmaktadırlar. Çiçek tozları, belirgin olmayan ağsı bir yüzey yapısına sahiptir. Çiçek tozu boyutları ve şekli bakımından çeşitler arasında farklılıklar saptanmıştır. Fertiliteden erkek kısırlığa doğru çiçek tozu boy değerlerinde belirgin bir azalma görülmüş, Karamehmet (62304) ve Firdola (62309) çeşitlerinde çiçek tozu boy değerleri en yüksek (21.09, 21.30 um), Vakit Kestanesi (52112) çeşidinde (13.33 um) en düşük bulunmuştur. En değerleri ise Osmanoğlu (51101) (11.78 um) ve Vakit Kestanesi (10.67 um) çeşidinde en yüksek Hacıömer (52214) (8.72 um) çeşidinde en düşük olarak tespit edilmiştir. Çiçek tozu şekil indeksi bakımından çeşitler arasında farklılıklar görülmüş ve üç farklı çiçek tozu şekli tespit edilmiştir. Boy/en değerlerine göre Firdola (62309) (2.07), Karamehmet (62304) (2.01) çeşitlerinin perprolate, Sarıaşlama (51111) (1.91), Hacıömer (52214) (1.99) çeşitlerinin prolate, Osmanoğlu (51 1 01 ) (1.25), Vakit Kestanesi (521 12) (1.25) çeşitlerinin subprolate çiçek tozu şekline sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Kısır çeşitler bu bakımdan belirgin farklı bir şekil göstermişlerdir. Çiçek tozu ince yapısı geçirimli elektron mikroskopta incelenmiş ve tüm çeşitlerin, çiçek tozlarının sitoplazma, vakuoller, vejetatif ve generatif çekirdeklerle birlikte çiçek tozu çeperine sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Çiçek tozu çeperi, iç çeper (intin) ve dış çeper (ekzin) tabakalarından meydana gelmektedir. Dış çeper, nekzin ve sekzin tabakalarından oluşmaktadır. Sekzin104 tabakasında düzensiz çubuklar (bakula) ve tektum bulunmaktadır. Çiçek tozunun dış çeper yapısı tectatae'dir. Tektumlar kesintisizdir ve tektum üzerinde düzensiz hafif kabarıklıklar mevcuttur. İç çeper değişken kalınlıktadır. Açıklık bölgelerine (apertür) doğru dış çeper tabakası incelmekte, iç çeper tabakası ise kalınlaşmaktadır. Çeşitlere ait çiçek tozlarının; iç, dış ve toplam çeper kalınlıkları belirlenmiştir. İç çeper kalınlığı Hacıömer (52214) çeşidinde (153.15 nm), en yüksek, Sarıaşlama (51111) (86.22 nm) ve Osmanoğlu (51101) (83.24 nm) çeşitlerinde en düşük olarak bulunmuştur. Dış çeper kalınlığı, Firdola (62309) çeşidinde (520.07 nm) en yüksek, Osmanoğlu (51101) (432.76 nm) çeşidinde ise en düşük olarak saptanmıştır. Toplam çeper kalınlığı (iç+dış çeper) bakımından en kalın çeper Firdola (62309) (651.56 nm), en ince çeper Osmanoğlu (51101) (516.00 nm) çeşidinde tespit edilmiştir. Bu bakımdan fertil ve kısır çeşitler arasında belirleyici bir farklılık görülmemiştir. Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304), Sarıaşlama (51111) ve Hacıömer (52214) çeşitlerinin çiçek tozlarının, yapay ortamdaki çimlenme oranlarının önemli derecede olduğu saptanmıştır. Çiçek tozu çimlenme oranı, Firdola % 58.7-67.7, Karamehmet % 66.0-78.0, Hacıömer %39.3-46.0 ve Sarıaşlama (51 1 1 1 ) çeşidinde % 1 1.0-14.3 olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Başçıklarda içi boş çiçek tozu tanelerinin meydana geldiği görülmüş, bunların, oluşum oranlan çeşitlere göre farklılık göstermiştir. İçi boş çiçek tozu oranının, Sarıaşlama (51 1 1 1) çeşidinde en yüksek (%32), Karamehmet (62304) (%3) ve Firdola (62309) (%5) çeşitlerinde en düşük olduğu bulunmuştur. Çimlendirme denemeleri yapılan çeşitlerde, çiçek tozu çimlenme oranı ile içi dolu çiçek tozu oranı arasında pozitif yönde önemli bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir (r= 0.898**). Nitekim, içi dolu çiçek tozu oranı yükseldikçe çiçek tozu çimlenme oranında artış saptanmıştır. 105 7. SUMMARY This study was carried out at three different Laboratories namely, the Laboratory of the Department of Horticulture transmission electron microscopy (TEM) unit of Histology Department of Faculty of Medicine, Uludağ University, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) unite of Osmangazi University. Flower structure, surface morphology and anatomy of pollens and anthers, dimensions and shape of these organs have been studied and the differences were determined on the male fertile chestnut cultivars Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304), Sarıaşlama (51111), Hacıömer (52214), and male sterile chestnut cultivars Osmanoğlu (51101), Vakit Kestanesi (52112). Following results were obtained from the research. Number of flower per cluster was 6-7; number of stamen per flower were 9.50-11.95 among the cultivars, except Osmanoğlu (51101) cultivar which has 2.60 stamens per flower. There was important differences in respect of stamen morphology among the cultivars. In Firdola (62309) and Karamehmet (62304) cultivars stamens were longer than perigon and showing a distinct flowering; in Sarıaşlama (51 1 1 1) cultivar stamens were partly longer than the perigon, and in Hacıömer (52214) cultivar stamens were as long as the perigon. In Osmanoğlu (51101) cultivar stamens were shorter than the perigon and some of the longer ones curled in the perigon. In Vakit Kestanesi (52112) cultivar stamens were much shorter than the perigon and placed at the buttom of the perigon. Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304), Sarıaşlama (51111) and Hacıömer (52214) cultivars have normally developed stamens. However, Osmanoğlu (51101) and Vakit Kestanesi (52112) cultivars have abnormal, underdeveloped stamens. The abnormalities were different in the two cultivars e.g. in Osmanoğlu (51 1 01 ) cultivar some of the flowers have no stamen (empty) (36%); some of the stamens have only filament (no anther) (24.42%); some of the stamens have underdeveloped abnormal anthers (64.54%); and only 1 1.05% of the stamens showed normal development and have pollens. Anthers of the Vakit Kestanesi (52112) cultivar were significantly smaller than the anthers of the other cultivars, and the filaments much shorter. Appearance of106 the anthers of this cultivar were similar to those normal anthers. But some of the anthers wrinkled and pale in color. Most of the anthers, did not develop normally in respect of their anatomical structure. They have undifferentiated cell mass in the center of the anther which replaced normal pollen sacs. A small number of anthers (2.64%) have pollen. Three different surface morphology of anther were determined among the cultivars. The fertile cultivars have similar surface morphology, on the other hand sterile cultivars have different surface morphology from the fertiles and from each other. Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304), Sarıaşlama (51111) and Hacıömer (52214) cultivars have the surface morphology that consist of polygonic epiderma cells. Epiderma cells of Osmanoğlu (51101) were more thiny and long and the surface of the cells have thread like formations. Vakit Kestanesi (52112) has a different surface morphology e.g. epiderma cells have a hole in the center and have a ridge at the edge, and seem to be a reticulated surface. There was a significant differences in respect of anther dimensions among the cultivars. The highest value for anther width belongs to Hacıömer (52214) cultivar (443.0 um), the longest anthers belongs to Firdola (62309) cultivars (464.6 um). The lowest values for the width and length of anther belong to Vakit Kestanesi (52112) cultivar, and the values were 208.8 um and 164.5 um, respectively. These values were significantly lower than the other cultivars' values. The shape of the anthers were spheroidal ellips by the length in Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304), Sarıaşlama (51111) and Osmanoğlu (51101) cultivars. The shape of the anthers of Hacıömer (52214) and Vakit Kestanesi (52112) cultivars were spheroidal ellips by the width. The anthers of Sarıaşlama (51111) and Hacıömer (52214) cultivars were more uniform in respect of dimensions than the anthers of other cultivars. The coefficient of variation (cv) were 7.98-8.13 and 5.41-7.54 respectively. Uniformity of the anthers of Vakit Kestanesi (52112) was the lowest and the cv values were highest e.g. 13.41 for length and 17.20 for width. Number of pollen per anther varied from 120 to 5200 among the cultivars. A statistical significance was determined between the sterile and107 fertile genotypes in this respect. Number of pollen per anther decreased gradually from fertile to sterile genotypes and the sterile genotypes produced pollen as 2.31-4.81% of the production of fertile genotypes. No distinct difference was determined between the fertile and sterile genotypes in respect of pollen surface morphology, number and shape of the apertures on the pollen. All the cultivars have three aperture region. These apertures have both colpy and pore, and so they resembled the colporate type. The apertures arranged on the surface equal intervals. The colpy was as long as the pollen. Pollens have a indistinct reticulate surfaces. There were significant differences among the cultivars with respect to the dimensions and shape of the pollens. There were a significant decrease in the dimensions of the pollen from fertile to sterile genotypes, Karamehmet (62304) and Firdola (62309) cultivars have the longest pollens (21.09 urn and 21.30 urn, respectively), and Vakit Kestanesi (52112) has the shortest pollens 13.33 urn. The highest values of width were obtained from Osmanoğlu (51101), (11.78 um) and Vakit Kestanesi (521 12) (10.67 um) cultivars and the lowest value was obtained from Hacıömer (52214) cultivar (8.72 urn). Shape index of the pollens varied among the cultivars, and three distinct type of pollen shape were determined. With respect to the longth/width ratio the pollens of the cultivars can be classified as: Firdola (62309) (2.07) and Karamehmet (62304) (2.01) pollens were perprolate type; Sarıaşlama (51111) (1.91) and Hacıömer (52214) (1.99) pollens were prolate type; Osmanoğlu (51 1 01 ) (1.25) and Vakit Kestanesi (521 12) (1.25) pollens were subprolate type. Sterile types showed distinctly different shape from the fertile types. Fine structure of the pollens was studied under transmission electron microscope (TEM). All of the pollens of the cultivars have cytoplasm, vegetative and generative nucleus, and pollen wall. The pollen wall consists of two distinct layers; the outer one was exine, and the inner one was intine. The outer layer of the wall separated to two parts, nexine and sexine. Sexine layer have irregular bacula and tectum. The exine was tectatae type. Tectums were continuous and have slightly irregular reliefs on the surface. The thickness of the intine varied108 e.g. it was thicker around the aperture region against the exine which was thinner at this region. Intine, exine and the total thickness of the pollen wall were determined. The thickest intine was shown in Hacıömer (52114) cultivar (153.15 nm), the thinners were shown in Osmanoğlu (51101) (83.24 nm) and in Sarıaşlama (51111) (86.22 nm) cultivars. Exine thickness was highest in Firdola (62309) cultivar (520.07 nm), and was lowest in Osmanoğlu (51101) cultivar (432.76 nm). Total wall thickness was highest in Firdola (62309) cultivar (651.56), and it was lowest in Osmanoğlu (51101) cultivar (516. 00 nm). There were no distinct differences between the fertile and sterile cultivars in this respect. Germination percentages of the pollens of Firdola (62309), Karamehmet (62304), Sarıaşlama (51111) and Hacıömer (52214) cultivars were significantly different, in vitro. The germination percentages were 58.7-67.7% in Firdola (62309), 66.0-78.0% in Karamehmet (62304), 39.3-46.0% in Hacıömer (52214) and 1 1.0-14.3% in Sarıaşlama (51 1 1 1) cultivars. Empty pollen grains were produced in the anthers and the percentages of these grains varied among the cultivars. Empty pollen ratio was highest in Sanşlama (51111) cultivar (32%), and lowest in Firdola (62309) (5%) and Karamenmet (62304) (3%) cultivars. There was a positive correlation between the pollen ratio which have normal cytoplasm and the germination ratio of the pollen (r= 0.898 **). As a matter of the fact increasing the pollen percentage which have normal cytoplasm, resulted in also increasing the germination percentage. 140

ÖZET Yapılan bu çalışmada M 9 ve MM 106 klonal elma anaçlarının meristem kültürü yöntemi ile çoğaltılması amaçlanmıştır. Mayıs, Haziran, Temmuz, Ağustos aylarında alman sürgün uçları, yüzey sterilizasyonuna tabi tutulmuş ve yaklaşık olarak 0.5 mm büyüklüğündeki meristemler izole edilerek meristem geliştirme ortamına dikilmiştir. Meristem geliştirme ortamında M 9 ve MM 106 için Murashıge and Skog (1962), makro, mikro elementleri ve vitaminleri, 0.1, 0.5, 1 mg/1 BAP, 0.1 mg/1 IBA ve 0.1 mg/1 GA3 kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca meristem geliştirme ortamında Sigma Gum agar ve Difco Bacto Agar olmak üzere iki farklı agar kullanılmış ve Sigma Gum ağarın gerek ortam katılığını sağlaması gerekse ortamın saydamlığım sağlaması açısından daha etkili olduğu ve bu ortamda meristemlerin daha iyi geliştiği tesbit edilmiştir. En iyi BAP dozunun 0.5 mg/1 olduğu ve meristemlerin en iyi geliştiği ayın Haziran olduğu belirlenmiştir. Birinci yıl Haziran ayında kurulan ve M9 ve MM 106 elma anaçlarından alman sürgün uçlarından izole edilen meristemlerde sürme oranları MM106 için (%84) ve M9 için (%68.3) bulunmuştur. Denemenin ikinci yılında ise Haziran ayında alman meristemlerin sürme oranlan MM106 için (%85.7), M9için ise (%70) olarak saptanmıştır Meristemler gelişme ortamına dikildikten 6-7 hafta sonra kardeşlenme ortamına (alt kültüre) alınmaya başlanmıştır. Sürgün çoğaltma aşamasında M 9 ve MM 106 için lmg BAP, 0.5 ve 1 mg/ İt IBA; 0.1mg/lt GA3 içeren MS ortamı kullanılmıştır. Kardeşlenme ortamında birinci yıl kardeşlenme katsayıları M9 için 1.5 ile 3.2 arasında değişmiş en yüksek kardeşlenme katsayısı ise (3.2) Haziran ayında kurulan denemelerden elde edilen bitkiciklerin ikinci alt kültürlerinde görülmüştür. MM 106 için ise kardeşlenme katsayıları 1.8 ile 4.2 arasında değişmiş en yüksek kardeşlenme katsayısı ise (4.2) Haziran ayında kurulan denemelerden elde edilen bitkiciklerin ikinci alt kültürlerinde olduğu tesbit edilmiştir. İkinci yıl kardeşlenme katsayıları M9 için 1.5 ile 3.4 arasında değişmiş en yüksek kardeşlenme katsayısı ise (3.4) Haziran ayında kurulan denemelerden elde edilen bitkiciklerin ikinci alt kültürlerinde görülmüştür. MM 106 için ise kardeşlenme katsayıları 1.8 ile 3.2 arasında değişmiş en yüksek kardeşlenme katsayısı ise (4.2) Haziran ayında kurulan denemelerden elde edilen bitkiciklerin ikinci alt kültürlerinde olduğu tesbit edilmiştir.11 Ayrıca kardeşlenme ortamında vitirifikasyonu önlemek için ortamdaki agar miktarı 7- 7.5 ve 8.0 g/İt olarak ayarlanmıştır. Kullanılan ağarların miktarlarının artmasına paralel olarak bitkiciklerin gelişim ve kardeşlenme hızlan yavaşlamıştır. M 9 'da vitrifikasyon görülmez iken MM 106 'da nadiren de olsa vitrifîye olmuş bitkicikler görülmüştür. Yapılan köklendirme çalışmalarında ise lA MS ortamına IBA'nm üç farklı dozu kullanılmış ve MM 106 için (%100) köklenme ile 0.5mg/lt IB A içeren ortam en iyi sonucu vermiştir. Denemenin ikinci yılında ise köklendirme ortamına aktarılan bitkiciklerde enfeksiyon nedeniyle sonuç alınamamıştır. Ill ABSTRACT Micropropagation of some Apple Clonal Rootstocks The purpose of this study was to propagate M9 and MM 106 apple rootstocks using meristem culture. Shoot tips taken in May, June, July and August were surface sterilise and then about 0.5mm meristem isolated and placed on to lA MS medium (Murashige and Skoog 1962) containing macro-micro element and vitamins, BAP (0.1, 0.5,1.0) mg/lt, 0.1 mg/lt IB A and /l mg GA3 were added m the medium. In addition two types of solidifying agent (Difco Bacto agar, Sigma gum agar) were tested and Sigma gum agar was found to be better than Difco Bacto agar in terms of both solidifying proporities and cleaners of media. The best meristem development was obtained from 0.5 mg/lt BAP, and shoot tips taken in June. In the first year, the meristem growth capacities of M9 and Ml 06 apple rootstocks were (68 %) and(84 %) respectively in June explants. In the second year these growing ratios were (85.7 %) for MM106 and (70 %) for M9. Meristems on initation stage were transfered to proliferation medium after 6-7 weeks. MS mediums containing 1 mg/lt BAP, 0.5 and 1 mg/lt IB A, 0.1 mg/lt GA3 were used for M9 and MM106 at the proliferation stage. On proliferation media proliferation coefficets of M9 ranged from 1.5 to 3.2 in the first year and the highest proliferation coefficent obtained from meristems taken in June. For MM106, proliferation coefficents ratios were between 1.5 and 4.2 and highest coefficent 4.2, also obtained from meristems taken in June during second subculture. In the second year, proliferation coefficets of M9 ranged from 1.5 to 3.4 and the highest value (3.4) obtain from meristems taken in June and second subculture.Proliferation ratios for MM106 were between 1.8 and 3.2 and the best ratio (4.2) were obtained from shoot tips taken in June and during the second subculture. Morever, 7 %, 7.5 % and 8 % agar concantrations were tested to prevent vitrification. Increasing concantretion of Agar reduced plantlet development and proliferation coefficets. No vitrification was observed in M9 while few vitrified plantlets were observed in MM106. Three doses of IBA in half strength MS medium were tested in rooting studies in the first year and best rooting in MM106 (100 %) obtained from media containing 0.5 mg/lt IBA. In the second year, no positive results can be obtained due to extensive contamination. 43

Bahçe, MM 106 anacı üzerine aşılı 7 elma çeşidinin Bursa Görükle koşullarındaki verim ve kalite özelliklerini kıyaslamak amacıyla 1993 yılında kurulmuş ve ağaçlar doruk dalı hakim serbest dallanan terbiye sistemine göre terbiye edilmiştir. İlk 7 verim yılı sonuçlarına göre, Elstar en erken hasat edilen çeşit olmuştur. Granny Smith ağaç başına 7 yıllık ortalama verim (26.39 kg / ağaç) ve birim gövde kesit alanına düşen verim (0.39 kg/cm2 ) bakımından ilk sırada yer almış, bunu ortalama verim bakımından Jonagold (16.32 kg /ağaç) ve gövde kesit alanına verim bakımından Ultra Red (0.35 kg/ cm2 ) çeşitleri izlemiştir.Dekara verim dikkate alındığında ise Ultra Red ve Granny Smith çeşitleri ilk sırada yer almışlardır. Ortalama en yüksek meyve ağırlığı Granny Smith (169.5 g) ve Jonagold (153.5 g) çeşitlerinden elde edilmiş, meyve eti sertliği ve SÇKM, pH ve asit miktarları çeşide ve yıllara göre değişiklik göstermiştir.Bazı çeşitlerde periyodisite eğilimi görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak mevcut koşullarda Granny Smith, Ultra Red, Starkrimson D. ve Jonagold kışlık, Elstar ise yazlık çeşitler olarak önerilebilir. This research was conducted in the experimental orchard of Uludag University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture. The experiment plot was established by the aim to compare the yield and quality of 7 apple cultivars budded on MM 106 rootstock, under Görükle conditions, in 1993. The trees were trained to free branching system. According to the first 7 cropping years’ results, Elstar was the first maturing cultivar. Granny Smith has taken the first row in respect of average yield (26.39kg/ tree) and the yield of per cm2 of cross sectional area of the trunk (0.39 kg/cm 2) in the first seven cropping years.This was followed by Jonagold (16.32 kg/ tree) and Ultra Red (0. 35 kg/ cm2 ) . Ultra Red and Granny Smith have taken the first rows in respect of the yield of per decare. The highest average fruit weights were obtained from Granny Smith (169.5 g) and Jonagold (153.5 g) cultivars. Flesh firmness, soluble solids content, pH and titratable acidity were different more or less, among the cultivars and the years. Some of cultivars showed alternate bearing tendency. At the end of the trials,it can be stated that Granny Smith, Ultra Red, Starkrimson D. and Jonagold were recommended as winter cultivars, Elstar was recommended as a summer cultivar under this conditions.

Bu çalışma 1995-2000 yıllan arasında Atatürk Bahçe Kültürleri Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü arazi ve laboratuarlarında yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın amacı P. cerasifera (Can erikleri, Myrobalan) türünün başta Bursa olmak üzere, Yalova ve Kocaeli illerindeki yayılış alanlarını belirlemek ve seçilen bazı tiplerin anaçlık özelliklerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Anaçlık özelliklerini belirlemek amacıyla 103 tip belirlenmiş ve bu tiplerin tohumlarında 60, 90 ve 120 gün nemli perlit ortamında katlama uygulanmıştır. En yüksek çimlenme miktarı 120 günlük katlama sonucu elde edilmiştir. % 60 'm üzerinde çimlenme gösteren 34 tipte çöğürlerin boy ve çap olarak büyüme ve bunlara ait üniformite değerleri, aşıya gelme, aşı tutma oranlan, tiplerin üzerine aşılanan Stanley çeşidinde sürgünlerin çap ve boy olarak büyümeleri ve bunlara ait üniformite değerleri, elde edilen fidanlann geliştirmiş olduğu kök yapılan incelenmiştir. Bazı tiplerde kök uçlannda ezme yöntemi ile yapılan sayımlar sonucunda kromozom sayılannın 2n=16 olduğu belirlenmiştir. Anaç seçimi; baz alınan her karakterin, önem derecesine göre değerlendirildiği "Tartılı Derecelendirme" metoduna göre yapılmıştır. Ele alınan 34 tipin ve Myrobalan B klon anacının Stanley eriği ile oluşturduğu aşı kombinasyonlan, kızaklı mikrotomda alman enine ve boyuna kesitlerin mikroskobik ve iyodürlü potasyum iyodür eriyiği ile yapılan boyamalar sonucunda yapılan makroskobik incelemelerle; iyi uyuşan, uyuşan ve mutlak uyuşmazlar olarak 3 farklı sınıfa aynlmıştır. 34 tipin 19 tanesinde çok iyi uyuşma elde edilirken, 8 tip ve Myrobalan B anacında ise kabul edilebilir bir uyuşma elde edilmiş, 7 tip ise Stanley çeşidi ile uyuşmaz kombinasyon oluşturmuştur. Üzerinde çalışılan tiplerden anaçlık özellikleri bakımından almış olduğu 885 toplam puanla E-38 nolu tip birinci sırada yer alırken, bu tipi sırasıyla E- 95, E- 26, E- 84 ve E- 1 1 nolu tipler izlemiştir. İlk beş sırada yer alarak seçilen anaçlardan E-95 nolu tip Stanley eriği ile uyuşmaz kombinasyon oluşturmuş, diğer 4 tipte ise iyi uyuşma belirlenmiştir. This study was carried out to know the suitability of wild P. cerasifera (Can plums, Myrobalan) plum trees as rootstock which widely grown in Bursa, Yalova and Kocaeli vicinities. Researches were conducted at the laboratories and research pilots of Yalova Atatürk Horticultural Research Institute between the years 1995 and 2000. In some P. cerasifera types the chromosome counts in root tips were made by squash technique and chromosome number was found to be 2n= 16 for each type. The best stratified period for high germination percentage of seeds of the types found to be 120 days at + 5 °C. Seeds of 34 types germinated above 60 %. Germinated seeds were sown directly to budding plots in the field. The following parameters were considered for evaluation; value of height and diameter of seedlings, but take percentage, shoot growth as height and diameter, uniformity of height and diameter for seedlings and shoots grown from buds by coefficient of variation(CV), root growth and visual observation on nursery trees. In order to determine the degree of graft compatibility of 34 P. cerasifera seedlings grafted by Stanley plum variety, microscopic and macroscopic properties of graft union, and starch accumulation at the scion and stocks nearby graft union were investigated 12 month after budding in all combinations. 19 of the 34 seedling rootstocks were found to be good compatible with Stanley plum. 9 of P. cerasifera types and Myrobalan B rootstocks were not good compatible with Stanley plum, but could be acceptable. 7 type of the P. cerasifera were not compatible with Stanley plum. The overall data were evaluated for potential rootstocks by using Weighted- Rankit method based on the parameters considered for evaluations. Number of the E- 38 type the best one and it had been taken 885 scores, also E- 95, E- 26, E- 84 and E-ll had been selected for their rootstocks partiality as they taken high scores.

rv ÖZET KESTANEDE DEĞİŞİK AŞI YÖNTEM VE ZAMANLARININ AŞDLI FİDAN ÜRETİMİ ÜZERİNE ETKİLERİ Bu araştırmanın amacı Karadeniz Bölgesinde kestanenin aşı ile çoğaltılmasında en uygun aşı zaman ve yöntemini belirlemektir. Deneme, 1996-1997 yıllarında Sinop, 1997-1999 yıllarında Samsun'daki fidanlıklarda yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada üç aşı yöntemi (T, ters T ve dilcikli), iki kestane tipi (S A 5-1 ve SE 21-9), ilkbahardan sonbahara kadar 8 aşı dönemi, farklı anaçlar (SA 5-1, Düzce'den getirilen çöğürler, 554- 14) ve tüplü ve tüpsüz fidan üretim teknikleri kullamlmıştır. En uygun aşı zaman ve yöntemini belirlemek amacıyla aşı başarısı ve fidan gelişimleri saptanmıştır. Diğer taraftan, aşı birleşme yerlerinden değişik zamanlarda alman örneklerde anatomik incelemeler yapılmış, kullanılan anaç ve kalemler arasındaki aşı uyuşma durumları da saptanmıştır. Araştırmada tüplü fidan üretiminde en yüksek aşı başarısı sürgün aşı dönemlerinden anaçlar yapraklandıktan sonra yapılan (2-13 Mayıs) ters T aşısından elde edilmiştir. Bu dönemde yapılan aşılarda aşı tutma oranlan yıllara göre % 78.8-86.3, aşı sürme oranlan % 74.1-79.7 arasında değişmiştir. Bazı yıllar ve çeşitlerde bu oranlar % 90-1 00'e ulaşmıştır. Bu dönemde yapılan ters T aşısmda aşı başansı çok yüksek olmasına rağmen fidan gelişimleri zayıf olmuştur ( 12.9-18.3 cm boy). Arazideki çöğürlerde en iyi aşı başansı (% 77.6) ve fidan gelişimi (70.8 cm aşı sürgünü boyu) dilcikli aşımn ilkbaharda anaçlarda kabuğun odundan aynldığı dönemde yapılmasıyla elde edilmiştir. Aşı yerlerinde yapılan anatomik incelemelerde aşılamadan iki ay sonra, yeni kambiyum, ksilem ve floem dokulannm oluştuğu, ancak kambiyal birleşmenin kesintisiz şekilde kurulabilmesi için en az 12 ay süreye ihtiyaç olduğu belirlenmiştir. Denemede 554-14 anacı kullanıldığında bazı aşılarda aşı yerlerinde anormallikler ve fidanlarda kurumalar gözlenmiştir. Yapılan incelemelerde 554-14 anacının SE 21-9 ile iyi uyuşabildiği halde, S A 5-1 ile uyuşabilMiğinin zayıf olduğu, bu kombinasyonda uyuşmazlığın olabileceği belirlenmiştir. Anahtar kelimeler: kestane, aşı, anatomi, aşı uyuşması ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT GRAFTING TIMES AND METHODS ON GRAFTED NURSERY TREE PRODUCTION IN CHESTNUT The objective of this study was to determine the best suitable budding or grafting time and methods in chestnut in the Black Sea Region. The study was carried out during both from 1996 to 1997 in Sinop and from 1997 to 1999 in Samsun. In the study, three grafting methods (T and inverted T budding and whip grafting), two scion types (SA 5-1 and SE 21-9), eight grafting periods (from spring to autumn), three different rootstocks (type no of SA 5-1, those of rootstock obtained from Düzce and type no of 554-14) and different seedling production methods, namely with tube and field condition, were used. Graft success and seedling development were investigated in order to determine the best suitable grafting time and methods. On the other hand, tissue samples were taken from graft unions at different times for anatomical observations as well as observing the compatibility between rootstock and scion. The highest graft success with the grafted seedling production in tubes was obtained from the budding method of inverted T made after leaf appearance (2-13 May) on the rootstocks in spring. Bud take and sprouting ratios in this period and method varied from 78.8 to 86.3 % and from 74.1 to 79.7 %, according to the years respectively. These ratios reached 90-100 % for some types and years. Although graft success was found to be higher in this period, grafted seedling growth was poor (12.9-18.3 cm of graft shoot height). The best graft success and graft growth for the seedlings maintained in the field were obtained from the whip grafting made after bark separating of the rootstocks in spring (77.6 % graft success, 70.8 cm graft shoot height). It was observed from the anatomical structure of graft union area that new cambium, xylem and phloem tissues were formed in the samples taken two months after grafting. On the other hand it was also observed that at least twelve months needed for continuous cambial merging. Some abnormalities were seen at graft junction and drying out of grafted seedling when the rootstock of 554-14 was used for grafting. According to the observations concerning the graft compatibility, whereas rootstock type no of 554-14 was well compatible with scion type no of SE 21-9, the same rootstock wasn't well compatible with scion type no of SA 5-1 and it was determined that there could be an incompatibility for this graft combination. Tez (doktora) -- Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi, 2000 Libra Kayıt No: 35549 Bu araştırmanın amacı Karadeniz Bölgesinde kestanenin aşı ile çoğaltılmasında en uygun aşı zaman ve yöntemini belirlemektir.Deneme , 1996-1997 yıllarında Sinop, 1997-1999 yıllarında Samsun'daki fidanlıklarda yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada üç aşı yöntemi (t,tersT ve dilcikli), iki kestane tipi (SA 5-1 ve SE 21-9) , ilkbahardan sonbahara kadar 8 aşı dönemi , farklı anaçlar (SA 5-1, Düzce'den getirilen çöğürler, 554-14) ve tüplü ve tüpsüz fidan üretim teknikleri kullanılmıştır. En uygun aşı zaman ve yöntemini belirlemek amacıyla aşı başarısı ve fidan gelişimleri saptanmıştır. Diğer taraftan, aşı birleşme yerlerinden değişik zamanlarda alınan örneklerde anatomik incelemeler yapılmış, kullanılan anaç ve kalemler arasındaki aşı uyuşma durumları da saptanmıştır. Araştırmada tüplü fidan üretiminde en yüksek aşı başarısı sürgün aşı dönemlerinden amaçlar yapraklandıktan sonra yapılan (2-13 Mayıs) ters Taçısından elde edilmiştir. Bu dönemde yapılan aşılarda aşı tutma oranları yıllara göre %78.8-86.3, aşı sürme oranları %74.1-79.7arasında değişmiştir. Bazı yıllar ve çeşitlerde bu oranlar %90-100'e ulaşmıştır. Bu dönemde yapılan ters T açısında aşı başarısı çok yüksek olmasına rağmen fidan gelişimleri zayıf olmuştur (12.9-18.3 cm boy).Arazideki çöğürlerde en iyi aşı başarısı (%77.6) ve fidan gelişimi (%70.8 cm aşı sürgünü boyu) dilcikli aşının ilkbaharda anaçlarda kabuğun odundan ayrıldığı dönemde yapılmasıyla elde edilmiştir. Aşı yerlerinde yapılan anatomik incelemelerde aşılamadan iki ay sonra , yeni kambiyum, ksilem ve floem dokularının oluştuğu ,ancak kambiyal birleşmenin kesintisiz şekilde kurulabilmesi için en az 12 ay süreye ihtiyaç olduğu belirlenmiştir. Denemede 554-14 anacı kullanıldığında bazı aşılarda aşı yerlerinde anormallikler ve fidanlarda kurumalar gözlenmiştir. Yapılan incelemelerde 554-14 anacının SE 21-9 ile iyi uyuşabildiği halde , SA 5-1 ile uyuşabilirliğinin zayıf olduğu , bu kombinasyonda uyuşmazlığın olabileceği belirlenmiştir.

HI OZ BURSA, YALOVA VE KOCAELİ YÖRELERİNDE Prunus cerasifera Ehrh. TÜRÜNE GİREN ERİKLERİN BAZI ANAÇLIK NİTELİKLERİ ÜZERİNDE ARAŞTIRMALAR Bu çalışma 1995-2000 yıllan arasında Atatürk Bahçe Kültürleri Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü arazi ve laboratuarlarında yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın amacı P. cerasifera (Can erikleri, Myrobalan) türünün başta Bursa olmak üzere, Yalova ve Kocaeli illerindeki yayılış alanlarını belirlemek ve seçilen bazı tiplerin anaçlık özelliklerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Anaçlık özelliklerini belirlemek amacıyla 103 tip belirlenmiş ve bu tiplerin tohumlarında 60, 90 ve 120 gün nemli perlit ortamında katlama uygulanmıştır. En yüksek çimlenme miktarı 120 günlük katlama sonucu elde edilmiştir. % 60 'm üzerinde çimlenme gösteren 34 tipte çöğürlerin boy ve çap olarak büyüme ve bunlara ait üniformite değerleri, aşıya gelme, aşı tutma oranlan, tiplerin üzerine aşılanan Stanley çeşidinde sürgünlerin çap ve boy olarak büyümeleri ve bunlara ait üniformite değerleri, elde edilen fidanlann geliştirmiş olduğu kök yapılan incelenmiştir. Bazı tiplerde kök uçlannda ezme yöntemi ile yapılan sayımlar sonucunda kromozom sayılannın 2n=16 olduğu belirlenmiştir. Anaç seçimi; baz alınan her karakterin, önem derecesine göre değerlendirildiği `Tartılı Derecelendirme` metoduna göre yapılmıştır. Ele alınan 34 tipin ve Myrobalan B klon anacının Stanley eriği ile oluşturduğu aşı kombinasyonlan, kızaklı mikrotomda alman enine ve boyuna kesitlerin mikroskobik ve iyodürlü potasyum iyodür eriyiği ile yapılan boyamalar sonucunda yapılan makroskobik incelemelerle; iyi uyuşan, uyuşan ve mutlak uyuşmazlar olarak 3 farklı sınıfa aynlmıştır. 34 tipin 19 tanesinde çok iyi uyuşma elde edilirken, 8 tip ve Myrobalan B anacında ise kabul edilebilir bir uyuşma elde edilmiş, 7 tip ise Stanley çeşidi ile uyuşmaz kombinasyon oluşturmuştur. Üzerinde çalışılan tiplerden anaçlık özellikleri bakımından almış olduğu 885 toplam puanla E-38 nolu tip birinci sırada yer alırken, bu tipi sırasıyla E- 95, E- 26, E- 84 ve E- 1 1 nolu tipler izlemiştir. İlk beş sırada yer alarak seçilen anaçlardan E-95 nolu tip Stanley eriği ile uyuşmaz kombinasyon oluşturmuş, diğer 4 tipte ise iyi uyuşma belirlenmiştir. PLUM TREES IN BURSA, YALOVA AND KOCAELİ REGIONS This study was carried out to know the suitability of wild P. cerasifera (Can plums, Myrobalan) plum trees as rootstock which widely grown in Bursa, Yalova and Kocaeli vicinities. Researches were conducted at the laboratories and research pilots of Yalova Atatürk Horticultural Research Institute between the years 1995 and 2000. In some P. cerasifera types the chromosome counts in root tips were made by squash technique and chromosome number was found to be 2n= 16 for each type. The best stratified period for high germination percentage of seeds of the types found to be 120 days at + 5 °C. Seeds of 34 types germinated above 60 %. Germinated seeds were sown directly to budding plots in the field. The following parameters were considered for evaluation; value of height and diameter of seedlings, but take percentage, shoot growth as height and diameter, uniformity of height and diameter for seedlings and shoots grown from buds by coefficient of variation(CV), root growth and visual observation on nursery trees. In order to determine the degree of graft compatibility of 34 P. cerasifera seedlings grafted by Stanley plum variety, microscopic and macroscopic properties of graft union, and starch accumulation at the scion and stocks nearby graft union were investigated 12 month after budding in all combinations. 19 of the 34 seedling rootstocks were found to be good compatible with Stanley plum. 9 of P. cerasifera types and Myrobalan B rootstocks were not good compatible with Stanley plum, but could be acceptable. 7 type of the P. cerasifera were not compatible with Stanley plum. The overall data were evaluated for potential rootstocks by using Weighted- Rankit method based on the parameters considered for evaluations. Number of the E- 38 type the best one and it had been taken 885 scores, also E- 95, E- 26, E- 84 and E-ll had been selected for their rootstocks partiality as they taken high scores. Bu çalışma, 19-23 Ekim 1998 tarihlerinde Bordeaux[Fransa]'da düzenlenen 2. International Symposium on Chestnut'da bildiri olarak sunulmuştur. This research was conducted with the aim to determine the propagation possibility of some chestnut hybrids and native cultivars and types through shoot tip and axillary bud culture between 1994 and 1998. MS, modified MS macro and micro elements or McCown's Woody Plant Basal Salt Mixture, were used as culture media. BAP, IBA and thidiazuron were added to some media. The following results were obtained from the explants growing in a chamber regulated to 25+/-1 degrees C and 16 h dark / 8 h light period. Shoot tip culture did not give any positive result, but axillary bud culture had shown to be successful in some years. Especially the bud explants which were taken from the succulent shoots of the juvenile 1- year- old or 2-3 - month- old plants grown in greenhouse had burst, gave shoot and then could be multiplicated in the media. In many times no good result had been obtained from the studies with axillary buds taken from field grown trees (5-7 years old) at various times of the growing season. In these studies no bud had burst, but some of the explants formed only callus. The explants prepared that were taken from the shoots on 13(th) of October, then chilled for 40 days at 5+/-1 degrees C in the refrigerator, did not burst on the culture media which contained a high level of BAP (2-10 mg l(-1)). However some of the explants produced callusing. In the view of these studies, it could be stated that the most important factor in chestnut micropropagation is the juvenility of the explant source. Bu çalışma, 19-23 Ekim 1998 tarihleri arasında Bordeaux Fransa'daki Uluslararası 2. Kestane Sempozyumunda bildiri olarak sunulmuştur. This research was conducted, with the aim to select the chestnut types which have superior quality with respect to their emergency rate, seedling growth and tolerance to drought. Fruit samples were collected from various parts of the Marmara Region, in different years. In total 56 types and / or cultivars were studied. Germination rates of unstratified seeds of some types were generally low (5.0-37.5 %) with one exception (52.5 %). While seeds of some types could break their dormancy after one month of stratification, the others needed 2-4 months. Average emergency rates of the types or cultivars varied from 17.6% to 86.6%. Soil conditions drastically affected these rates. Values of seedling height and diameter were changed, by the types. Maximum diameter was 6-7 mm, and height was nearly 30 cm after a season's growth. The coefficient of variance (CV) of height and diameter, straight growth habit, were also different according to the types. Albino seedling rate reached to 22 % in one type. More or less differences in tolerance to drought were determined among the types tested. The first sign of damage from water loss, commenced at the level of 8.1-17.7 % soil water content, and the complete damage occurred at 6.1-11.4% soil-water level, depending on the type. Water loss, from per cm(2) of leaf area was negatively correlated with the total surface leaf area of the type. Bu çalışma, Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi Fen Bilimler Enstitüsünde Arif Soylu'in danışmanlığında Ümran Ertürk tarafından yazılan "Bazı şeftali çeşitlerinde meyve seyreltme derecesinin verimlilik ve meyve kalitesi üzerine etkileri" adlı doktora tezine dayanılarak hazırlanmıştır. Bu araştırma 1994-1996 yılları arasında, Bursa yöresinin bazı önemli şeftali çeşitlerinde farklı derecelerdeki seyreltme uygulamalarının verim ve meyvelerin kalite özelliklerine etkilerini saptamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre, meyve ağırlığı seyreltmeye bağlı olarak değişmiştir. Dixired, Redhaven ve J.H.Hale çeşitlerinde ürün yükü arttıkça meyve ağırlığı kısmi bir azalma eğilimi göstermiş sürgünde 4 ve 5 meyve bırakılan uygulamalar, diğer uygulamalara göre daha düşük değerler vermiştir. Daha büyük meyve veren seyreltme uygulamalarındaki Et/Çekirdek oranı genellikle daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Seyreltme derecesine bağlı olarak meyvelerin sertlik, SEKM, pH, asit, toplam ve invert şeker değerlerinde belirgin ve kararlı bir değişim saptanmamıştır. Ağaç başına ve gövde kesit alanını düşen verim bağlamından en yüksek değerleri sürgün başına daha fazla meyve bırakılan uygulamalar genellikle de 4 ve 5 meyveli uygulamalar vermiştir. Sürgün boylan uygulamalara göre belirgin bir değişim göstermemişdir. Birim uzunluğa düşen sürgün sayısı, ürün artışına paralel olarak kısmen veya önemli derecede azalmıştır. This research was carried out between the years 1994 and 1996 with the aim of deterrnining the effects of thinning practices at different severities on the yield and quality of some important peach cultivars grown in Bursa vicinity. According to the results obtained from the study, the fruit weight changed depending on thinning severity; weight tended to decrease partially as the fruit load increased in cvs. Dixired, Redhaven and J.H.Hale; the trealments with 4 or 5 fruits on the shoot gave lover values compared with the other treatments. The Flesh/Seed ratio was generally found higher in the thinning applications yielding larger fruits. A significant and stable varia tion was nol determined in firmness, WSS, pH, acidity, total and invert sugar values of the fruits, depending on the thinning severity. The highest values wilh respect to yield per tree or yield per trunk crass-seetion area were generally obtained from the treatmenis w ith higher number of fruits per shoot and especially treatmenis with 4 or 5 fruits per shoot. Shoot lengths did not exhibit a pronounced increase depending on the treatments. Number of shoots per unit length decreased partially or significantly, in accordance with the increase in yield.

1- OZ M 106 ANACI ÜZERİNE AŞILI BAZI ELMA ÇEŞİTLERİNDE KİMYASAL SEYRELTME Bu araştırma, 1996 ve 1997 yıllarında verim çağına gelmiş M 106 anacı üzerine aşılı bazı standart elma çeşitlerinde NAA (5, 10 ve 15 ppm), Carbaryl (750, 1000 ve 1250 ppm) ve NAA+Carbaryl (5+750 ppm, 7.5+750 ppm ve 10+750 ppm) uygulamalarının seyreltme üzerine etkilerini araştırmak ve meyve yetiştirme koşullarındaki optimum seyreltme uygulamasını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmış ve aşağıdaki sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Nihai meyve tutma oram üzerine NAA, Carbaryl ve NAA+Carbaryl uygulamalarının etkileri her iki yılda da tüm çeşitlerde istatistiki açıdan önemli olduğu saptanmıştır. Jonagold çeşidinde 1996 yılında 7.5+750 ppm uygulaması en iyi seyreltme sonucunu verirken, 1997 yılında ise 15 ppm ile 10 ppm uygulamalarından en iyi sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Granny Smith çeşidinde 1996 yılında NAA ve Carbaryl uygulamaları aynı grupta yer almış ancak, 5 ppm'lik uygulama en iyi seyreltme etkisinde bulunmuş, 1997 yılında ise 10 ppm NAA, 1000 ppm, 1250 ppm Carbaryl, 5+750 ppm, 7.5+750 ppm ve 10+750 ppm NAA+Carbaryl uygulamaları aynı grupta yer alırken 7.5+750 ppm'lik uygulamanın en ryi sonucu verdiği tespit edilmiştir. Starkrimson D. çeşidinde 1996 yılında 5 ve 15 ppm uygulamaları aynı grupta yer almış ancak, 5 ppm uygulaması en iyi seyreltme etkisinde bulunmuş, 1997 yılmda ise 15 ppm'lik uygulamadan en iyi seyreltme sonucu elde edilmiştir. S. Golden D. çeşidinde 1997 yılında yapılan uygulamalar arasında 1000 ppm'lik uygulama en iyi seyreltme sonucunu vermiştir. Meyve ağırlığı, nihai meyve tutma oranına bağlı olarak değişim göstermiş, genellikle nihai meyve tutma ve meyve ağırlığı arasında negatif yönde bir ilişki görülürken, Jonagold çeşidinde Carbaryl ve NAA+Carbaryl uygulamaları, S. Golden D. çeşidinde NAA uygulamalarının pozitif yönde bir etki yaptığı saptanmıştır. Meyve eti sertlik değerlerinde genelde tüm çeşitlerde NAA, Carbaryl ve NAA+Carbaryl uygulamalarının önemli bir farklılığa neden olmadıkları görülmüş ve uygulamaların bazen meyve eti sertlik değerlerini arttırdığı gözlenmiştir. NAA, Carbaryl ve NAA+Carbaryl uygulamalarına bağlı olarak her iki yılda ve tüm çeşitlerde SEKM miktarında kısmen yükselme eğilimi görülmüş ancak, bu eğilimin tüm çeşit ve uygulamalarda önemli ve kararlı olmadığı gözlenmiştir. Meyvedeki pashlık oranında uygulamalara bağlı olarak kısmi bir azalma eğilimi görülmüş, bu eğilim S. Golden D. çeşidinde daha belirgin olmuş ve bu çeşitte meyve paslılığı oranının azalmasında NAA uygulamalarının, Carbaryl ve NAA+Carbaryl uygulamalarına oranla daha etkili olduğu gözlenmiştir. Ağırlık ve verim arasındaki ilişki incelendiğinde, tüm çeşitlerde uygulamalara bağlı olarak kısmi ve bazen de önemli farklılıkların olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu ilişki genelde negatif yönde olurken, 1996 ve 1997 yılında Jonagold çeşidinde (r=0.313, r=8.520*), 1997 yılmda Starkrimson D. çeşidinde NAA+Carbaryl uygulamalarında (r=0.377), Granny Smith çeşidinde 1996 yılmda NAA (r=0.724*), NAA+Carbaryl (r=0.023) ve 1997 yılmda Carbaryl uygulamalarında (r=0.102) pozitif yönde olduğu görülmüştür. Seyreltme oranlan, meyve ağırlığı ve ağaç başına verim değerleri tüm çeşitler bazında birlikte ele alınarak incelendiğinde 1000 ve 1250 ppm Carbaryl ve 5 ve 10 ppm NAA uygulamalarının tavsiye edilebileceği görülmektedir. -XX- ABSTRACT CHEMICAL THINNING IN SOME APPLE CULTIVARS GRAFTED ON M 106 ROOTSTOCK This research was carried out in the years 1996 and 1997 with the aim of investigating the effects of NAA (5, 10 and 15 ppm), Carbaryl (750, 1000 and 1250 ppm) and NAA + Carbaryl (5+750 ppm, 7.5 + 750 ppm and 10 + 750 ppm) applications on the thinning of some standard apple cultivars grafted on M 106 rootstock as well as determining the optimum thinning applications under fruit growing conditions and the following results were obtained. The effects of NAA, Carbaryl and NAA + Carbaryl applications on the final fruit set ratio were determined to be statistically significant for all cultivars in both years. In cv.Jonagold 7.5 + 750 ppm application gave the best thinning result in the year 1996, where as in 1997, the best results were obtained from 15 ppm and 10 ppm applications. In cv. Granny Smith, NAA and Carbaryl applications were in the same statistical group in 1996, however 5 ppm application resulted in the best thinning effect, whereas in 1997, 10 ppm NAA; 1000 ppm, 1250 ppm Carbaryl; 5 + 750 ppm, 7.5 + 750 ppm and 10 + 750 ppm NAA + Carbaryl applications were in the same group, but 7.5 + 750 ppm application was determined to give the best result. In cv. Starkrimson D., 5 and 15 ppm applications were in the same group in 1996, nevertheless, 5 ppm application leaded to the optimum thinning effect while in 1997, the best thinning effect was obtained from 15 ppm application. In cv.S. Golden D., 1000 ppm application resulted in the optimum thinning among the applications realized in 1997. Fruit weight changed depending on the ratio of final fruit-set; in weight changed depending on the ratio of final fruit-set; in general a negative correlation was observed between final fruit set and fruit weight, whereas positive effects were obtained by Carbaryl and NAA+Carbaryl applications in cv. Jonagold and by NAA applications in cv. S.Golden D. Generally speaking, NAA, Carbaryl and NAA + Carbaryl applications leaded to no significant difference in fruit flesh firmness values in all cultivars, the applications were sometimes observed to increase the fruit flesh firmness values. A partial tendency to increase was observed in WSS quantity in all cultivars in both years due to NAA Carbaryl and NAA+Carbaryl applications, however this tendency was not found significant and stable for all cultivars and applications. A partial tendency to decrease was observed in the russeting rates of fruits in relation to applications, this tendency was more marked in cv. S. Golden D. and it was observed that NAA applications were more effective than Carbaryl and NAA +Carbaryl applications in decreasing russeting in this cultivar. When the relation between weight and yield was examined, partial and sometimes significant differences were observed was in the negative direction in general, whereas it was determined to be positive for cv.Jonagold in 1996 and 1997 (r=0.313, r=8,520*) for cv. Starkrimson D. in 1997 in NAA+Carbaryl applications (r=0.377), for cv. Granny Smith in 1996 in NAA (r=0.724*), NAA + Carbaryl (r=0.023) applications and in 1997 in Carbaryl applications (r=0.102). If the thinning rates, fruit weights and yield values per tree for all cultivars are determinated together, 1000 and 1250 ppm Carbaryl and 5 and 10 ppm NAA applications can be suggested. 113

Meyve ağırlığı ve büyüklüğü seyreltmeye bağlı olarak değişmiş, Dixired, Redhaven ve J.H.Hale çeşitlerinde ürün yükü arttıkça, kısmi bir azalma eğilimi göstermiş, genellikle 4 ve 5 meyveli uygulamalar diğer uygulamalara göre daha düşük değerler vermiş, Early Red çeşidinde ise bazı uygulamalarda pozitif yönde bir değişim görülmüştür. Genellikle daha büyük meyve veren seyreltme uygulamalarındaki et/çekirdek oranı daha yüksek bulunmuş, özellikle yıllara göre değişmekle birlikte bu durum Redhaven ve J.H.Hale çeşitlerinde belirgin ve bazen önemli olmuştur. SEKM miktarı seyreltmeye bağlı olmakla birlikte genellikle 2 meyveli uygulamalar en yüksek değerleri vermiştir. pH değerleri, bazı yıl ve çeşitlerde ürün yükü arttıkça, kısmen yükselme eğilimi göstermiş ancak bu eğilim önemli ve tüm çeşitlerde kararlı olmamıştır. Ürün yükü arttıkça çeşitlerin asıtlık değerlerinde de bazen kısmi bir artış olmuştur. Meyve eti sertliği değerleri uygulamalara göre istikrarlı bir değişim göstermemiştir. Toplam şeker ve buna paralel olarak da invert şeker miktarlarında uygulamalara bağlı olarak belirgin farklılıklar saptanmamıştır. Gövde kesit alanına düşen verimde en yüksek değerleri daha fazla meyve bırakılan uygulamalar, genellikle de 4 ve 5 meyveli uygulamalar vermiştir. Meyve ağırlığı ile verim değerleri arasında 8 yaşlı ağaçlarda negatif yönde, 6 yaşlı ağaçlarda ise Early Red çeşidinde goble şeklinde daha belirgin olarak pozitif yönde bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Sürgün boylarındaki değişim, uygulamalara göre belirgin bir azalma eğilimi göstermemiş, ancak 5 meyveli uygulamalar diğer uygulamalara göre daha düşük değerler vermiştir. Birim uzunluktaki sürgün sayısı, ürün artışına paralel olarak azalmıştır. Çiçek tomurcuğu sayısı, dallarda bırakılan meyve sayısı arttıkça azalma eğilimi göstermiş ancak bu durum Early Red çeşidinde belirgin olmamıştır. ABSTRACT THE EFFECTS OF THINNING SEVERITY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF FLOWER BUDS; PRODUCTIVITY AND FRUIT QUALITY IN SOME PEACH CULTTVARS This research was conducted between the years 1994-1996 with the aim of finding out the effects of thinning applications at different degrees in some important peach cultivars in Bursa on yield, quality characteristics of fruit, formation of flower buds and inner development of the buds, and the following results were obtained: Fruit weight and size changed in accordance with thinning, in cvs. Dixired, Redhaven and JÜHale, the weight and size had a partial tendency of decrease when crop load increased. The application of 4 or 5 fruits per shoot generally decreased fruit weight much more than the other applications, but a positive change was observed in some applications with regard to cv. Early Red. In many cases, the flesh/seed ratio was found to be higher in thinning applications which resulted in bigger fruit, and especially, although having changed according to years, mis case was noticeable and sometimes significant in cvs. Redhaven and J.RHale. Despite the feet that WSS amount was dependent on thinning, in general, 2 fruits/shoot applications led to higher values. In some years and cvs, pH values had a partial tendency of rise when crop load increased, but mis tendency was not important, and it was not fixed in all cvs. Sometimes a partial rise took place in acidity values of the cvs. together with the increase in crop load. The values of firmness of fruit flesh did not result in a stable change according to the applications. Total and invert sugar amounts were not changed significantly, according to the applications, m the yield quantities per trunk cross sectional area and per tree, the applications which left more fruit, and mostly 4 and 5 fruits/shoot applications, resulted in me highest values. A negative relationship was found between fruit weight and yield in 8 year old trees, but having been more noticeable in cv. Early Red when vase training system was practised, a positive relationship was found out in 6 year old trees. In general the change in shoot length was not significantly decreased by the applications, but 5 fruits/shoot applications had a lower value in this respect. The number of shoot per unit length of shoot, decreased parallel to crop rise. The number of flower buds had a tendency of decrease when the number of fruit left on the branches increased, but this tendency was not remarkable in cv. Early Red. A remarkable difference dependent on thinning was not observed in the inner development of the fruits buds. Keywords: Peach, thinning, flower bud. 144

m ÖZ BAZI HİBRİT KESTANE ANAÇLARI İLE ÖNEMLİ ÇEŞİTLERİMİZİN ANAÇ-KALEM UYUŞMALARI ÜZERİNE ANATOMİK ARAŞTIRMALAR Bu çalışma 1995 -1998 Yıllan arasında Uludağ Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Bahçe Bitkileri Bölümü ile Yalova Atatürk Bahçe Kültürleri Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü'nün arazi ve laboratuarlarında, Kestane Mürekkep Hastalığı {Phytophthora cambivoraym dayanıklı Maraval CA 74 ve Marıgoule CA 15 (C. sativa x C. crenata ) anaçlarının önemli kestane çeşitlerimizden 51101 Osmanoğlu, 51111 Sarıaşlama, 521 12 Vakit kestanesi ve 61316 Dursun kestanesi (C. sativa Mili.) çeşitleriyle aşı uyuşma durumlarım tesbit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Denemeye alman aşı kombinasyonlarının aşı yerlerinde aşılamadan 2, 6, 12 ve 16 ay sonra yapılan mikroskobik ve makroskobik incelemelerinde, aşı yerlerinin anatomik yapısı, aşı sürgünlerinin gelişimi ile kalem ve anaçta nişasta birikim durumları incelenmiştir. Aşı yerlerindeki anatomik yapı özellikleri incelendiğinde, 6 ay sonraki örneklerde yeni kambiyum, ksilem ve floem dokularının oluştuğu, ancak aşı elemanlarının bu dokuları arasındaki devamlılığın 12 ay sonraki örneklerde tamamlanmış olduğu tesbit edilmiştir. Aşı gözlerinden genellikle kuvvetli bir aşı sürgünü gelişmesi olmuştur. Aşılamadan 16 ay sonraki örneklerin aşı kaynaşma yerlerinde kambiyum, floem ve ksilem dokularının devamlı ve iyi bir şekilde oluştuğu, anaç ve kalem dokularının IKI eriyiği ile boyandıklarında aralarında renk yönünden bir farklılığın meydana gelmediği gözlenmiştir. Yapılan inceleme ve gözlemler sonucunda denemeye alınan hibrit kestane anaçları ile yerli kültür çeşitlerimiz arasında iyi bir aşı uyuşmasının olduğu kanısına varılmıştır. IV ABSTRACT ANATOMICAL RESEARCHES ON STOCK - SCION COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN SOME HYBRID CHESTNUT ROOTSTOCKS AND IMPORTANT NATIVE CULTIVARS This study was earned out in research plots and laboratories of the Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Uludağ University and Yalova Atatürk Central Horticultural Research Institute in order to determine the degree of graft compatibility of 51101 Osmanoğlu, 51111 Sanaşlama, 52112 Vakit K. and 61316 Dursun K. chestnut cultivars (C. sativa Mill.) with Maraval CA 74 and Mangoule CA 15 (C. sativa x C. crenata) hybrid rootstocks between 1995 and 1998. The microscobic and macroscobic examinations on the anatomical structure of graft union, shoot growth and starch accumulation on the scions and stocks and at the graft union were investigated 2, 6,12 and 16 months after budding m all scion / stock graft combinations. When some properties of the anatomical structure of the graft unions were taken into consideration, the following statements could be made: New cambium, xylem and phloem tissues were already formed 6 months after budding, however, vascular continuity was determined 12 months after budding. The continuity of cambium, xylem and phloem tissues were well formed at the graft union and generally shoot growth was vigorous 16 months after budding. Following staining of stock and scion tissues with IKI there were not any colour differentation between stocks and scions. According to the results obtained from anatomical examination of the graft unions, it was suggested that chestnut cultivars to be well graft compatible with hybrid chestnut rootstocks. Bu çalışma, 30 Temmuz-2 Ağustos 1996 tarihinde Ordu[Türkiye]'da düzenlenen 4. International Symposium on Hazelnut'da bildiri olarak sunulmuştur. This study was conducted to determine the effect of cutting age and diameter, collection time, IBA concentration, heating and base cut type on rooting of filbert (Cv. Tombul) hardwood cuttings. Concerning this aim, in the first experiment: one and two years old cuttings were collected in January and February, and divided into two groups in relation to their diameter, treated with 4000, 6000, and 8000 ppm IBA and then placed in a bottom heated rooting medium (25 degrees C +/- 2). In the second experiment: the cuttings were cut slope and nat at their base, and placed in the rooting medium after had been treated with 4000 and 6000 ppm IBA. In the third experiment: the cuttings which treated with 4000 and 6000 ppm IBA were placed in both heating (25 degrees C +/- 2) and non heating (15 degrees C +/- 2) rooting medium. Macro and micro elements, and carbohydrate content of bark of the cuttings were also determined in relation to their rooting capacity. In spite of rooting which slightly better results were obtained from heating medium (max. 20.0%) in some samples, callus formation was significantly better in non heating medium (max 96.6%) with 1 year old cuttings. Gövde çapı, boy, sürgün uzunluğu değerleri ilk iki çeşitte goble terbiye şeklinde daha yüksek, Early Red çeşitinde ise her iki terbiye şeklinde birbirine yakın ve daha düşük olarak belirlenmiştir. Redhaven ve Early Red çeşitlerinin deneme koşullarında Rio - Oso - Gem' e göre daha verimli olduğu, paclobutrazol uygulamalarının çiçek tomurcuğu sayısı ve verim miktarı üzerine önemli etkiler yaptığı saptanmış, paclobutrazol doz artışına paralel olarak gövde kesit alanına düşen verimde de bir artış görülmüştür. Tüm çeşitlerde en yüksek değerleri 3 x 250 ppm ve 4 x 250 ppm'lik uygulamalar verrniştir. Goble terbiye şekli ortalama meyve ağırlığını tüm çeşitlerde kısmen veya önemli derecede arttırmış, paclobutrazol uygulamaları bakımından 4 x 250 ppm'lik doz en iyi sonucu vermiş, meyve büyüklüğü de bu dozda kısmen artmıştır. Daha-ıi- iri meyve veren uygulamalardaki et / çekirdek oram daha yüksek olmuştur. Early Red ve Rio - Oso - Gem çeşitlerinde SEKM miktarı goble şeklinde, Redhaven çeşidinde ise SEKM miktarı ve pH değerleri doruk dallı şekilde, asitlik ise goble şeklinde kısmen veya önemli derecede artmıştır. Özellikle, 4 x 250 ppm paclobutrazol uygulaması SEKM miktarım tüm çeşitlerde 1994 yılında önemli derecede azaltmış, toplam şeker miktarım ise Rio - Oso - Gem çeşitinde önemli derecede, diğer iki çeşitte kısmen azaltmıştır. Paclobutrazol uygulamaları meyve eti sertliğini Redhaven çeşitinde önemli derecede etkilememiş, Rio - Oso - Gem çeşitinde ise özellikle 3 x 250 ppm ve 4 x 250 ppm uygulamaları sertliği kısmen ve önemli derecede arttırmıştır. Uygulamalar, çeşitlerin çiçeklenme zamanlarını belirgin olarak etkilememiş, yaprak dökümü de üç çeşitte kontrole göre sadece 4 x 250 ppm'lik uygulama ile 1994 yılında daha geç olmuştur. Yaprak analizleri sonuçlarına göre yaprak dokularındaki makro elementlerden Ca, K, N düzeyi özellikle 4 x 250 ppm uygulaması ile çeşitlere göre kısmen azalmış veya artmıştır. Mikro besin elementlerinden Fe, Mn kapsamı da özellikle yüksek dozlarda kısmen azalmıştır. -111- ABSTRACT THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT TRAINING SYSTEMS AND CHEMICAL APPLICATIONS ON FRUIT BEARING, VIGOUR AND SOME QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF FRUITS IN SOME IMPORTANT PEACH CULTTVARS Trunk diameter, canopy width and shoot length values were found high in cvs. Rio - Oso - Gem and Redhaven and lower in cv. Early Red, due to the vigour of the cultivars. Trunk diameter, height and shoot length values were found higher in vase training system in the first two cultivars, whereas in cv. Early Red they were determined lower and close to each other, in both training systems. Paclobutrazol applications partially or significantly decreased the growth parametres, they were found more effective in cvs. Early Red and Redhaven compared with cv. Rio - Oso - Gem. The growth of trees were partially or significantly decreased by 3x250 ppm and 4x250 ppm applications compared with control in all cultivars, the effects of these doses were more pronounced in the year 1994. In general, vase training system gave the highest quantity of pruning wastes. 4x250 ppm application partially or significantly decreased the pruning wastes in both training systems. The central leader training system was determined to give partially or significantly higher values with respect to the number of flower buds per shoot length (number/50 cm) and the yield per unit trunk cross section area. Cvs. Redhaven and Early Red were determined to be more productive under trial conditions compared with Rio - Oso - Gem. The paclobutrazol applications had important effects on the number of flower buds and yield, and an increase was observed in the yield per unit trunk cross section area, parallel to the increase in paclobutrazol concentrations. 3x250 ppm and 4x250 ppm applications gave the highest values in all cultivars. The vase training system increased the mean fruit weight partially or significantly in all cultivars, 4x250 ppm concentration gave the best result by paclobutrazol applications, fruit weight was also partially increased at this concentration. The flesh /seed ratio was-IV- higher in the applications resulting in larger fruits. The WSS quantity in cvs. Early Red and Rio - Oso - Gem partially or significantly increased in vase training system; whereas in cv. Redhaven WSS quantities and pH values were partially or significantly increased in central leader training system. While in vase system, the acidity was increased partially or significantly. 4x250 ppm paclobutrazol application, significantly reduced the WSS ratio in all cultivars in 1994 ; on the other hand this application significantly reduced the total sugar quantity in cv. Rio - Oso - Gem, and partially reduced it in the other two cultivars. Paclobutrazol applications did not significantly affect the firmness of fruit flesh in cv. Redhaven, while in cv. Rio - Oso - Gem, especially 3x250 ppm and 4x250 ppm applications increased the firmness partially or significantly. The applications did not have a marked effect on the flowering periods of the cultivars, and but leaf abscission was retarded in the year 1994 only with 4x250 ppm application, compared with control. According to the results of leaf analyses, of the macro elements in leaf tissues, levels of Ca, K and N were partially increased or decreased with 4x250 ppm application, depending on cultivar. Micro elements, such as Fe and Mn contents were partially decreased, especially in higher concentration. 156

Bu çalışmada 99R Amerikan Asma Anacının çelikleri ile Sultani Çekirdeksiz ve Perlette çeşitlerinin aşı kalemi çelikleri, IB A (0; 0,025; 0,050; 0,075 g/l), Atonik (0; 1,2; 1,8; 2,4 g/l) ve Maxicrop (0; 1,2; 1,8; 2,4 g/l) çözeltileri içinde 24 saat bekletildikten sonra omega aşı kesidi açan ve ayakla kumanda edilen makina ile aşılanmışlar, çimlendirme sandıklarına nemli talaş içinde dizilerek aşı yerinde kallus oluşturmak ve köklenmek üzere ısıtmasız bir seraya yerleştirilmişlerdir. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar, uygulamaların farklı özellikler üzerine etkili olduğunu göstermiştir. Çepeçevre kallus oluşum oranını Perlette çeşidinde Maxicrop'un 1,2 g/1'lik, Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde ise Atonik'in 1,8 g/l'lik dozu en yüksek düzeye çıkarmış (% 47,0), IBA'nın 0,075 g/l'lik dozu Perlette çeşidinde (% 43,0), 0,025 g/l'lik dozu ise Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde (% 33,0) bu oranı kısmen yükseltmiştir. Uygulamaların tek taraflı kallus oluşumuna olumlu etkiler yaptıkları belirlenmiş, en iyi sonuçları Perlette çeşidinde Atonik'in 1,2 ve 1,8 g/I'lik dozları (% 56,6), Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde ise Atonik'in 2,4 g/l'lik dozu ile Maxicrop'un 1,2 g/l'lik dozları vermiştir (% 53,3). Çimlendirme sırasında kalem gözlerinin sürmesi üzerine IB A uygulamaları daha etkili olmuş, en yüksek değerler Perlette çeşidinde 0,075 g/l (% 80,0), Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde 0,025 g/l'lik IBA dozlarından elde edilmiştir (% 73,3). Anaç çeliklerinin köklenmeleri açısından her iki aşı kombinasyonunda Atonik'in 1,2 g/l'lik dozu en yüksek oranı vermiş (% 100,0), genel olarak IBA'nın 0,050 ve 0,075 g/l'lik dozları ile Atonik uygulamaları köklenme oranında belirgin bir artış sağlamıştır. Çelik başına düşen ortalama kök sayıları bakımından her iki aşı kombinasyonunda da en yüksek değerler, Atonik'in 1,8 g/l'lik dozundan elde edilmiştir (8,6 - 9,4 adet/çelik). Aşı sürgünü oluşumunda IBA, Atonik ve Maxicrop'un çeşitlere göre bazı dozları olumlu etki yapmış, burada da en yüksek değeri Atonik'in 1,8 g/l ve 2,4 g/l'lik dozları vermiştir (% 46,6 ve % 43,3). Aşı sürgünü uzunluğuna Atonik'in tüm dozları olumlu etki yaparken, uygulamalar arasında en yüksek değeri ise Maxicrop'un 1,2 g/l'lik dozu (97,5 cm) vermiştir. In this study, after the cuttings of 99R rootstock and Perlette and Sultani Çekirdeksiz cultivars had been pre-soaked with IBA (0; 0,025; 0,050; 0,075 g/I), Atonik (0; 1,2; 1,8; 2,4 g/ I) and Maxicrop (0; 1,2; 1,8; 2,4 g/1) for 24 hours, were grafted with omega graft, foot- dîrected machine. The grafted cuttings were stratified with damp sawdust in a Richter box and then placed in a non heating greenhouse for callusing and rooting. The results obtained from the study showed that the treatments affected various traits of the grafted cuttings. Round callusing was significantly increased by Maxicrop (1,2 g/1) in Perlette, and by Atonik (1,8 g/1) in Sultani Çekirdeksiz (47,0 %) cultivars. IBA treatments (0,075 g/I and 0,025 g/1) partly increased this trait in Perlette and Sultani Çekirdeksiz cultivars (43 and 33 %), respectively. Side callusing was also affected positively by the treatments. The best re sults were obtained in Perlette cultivar from Atonik 1,2 g/1 and 1,8 g/1 (56,6 %), and in Sultani Çekirdeksiz cultivar from Atonik 2,4 g/1 (53,3 %) and Maxicrop 1,2 g/1 (53,3 %) treatments in this respect. IBA treatments more affected the bud burst and growth during stratification than the other treatments and the highest percentages were obtained with Perlette cultivar from 0,075 g/1 IBA (80,0 %) and with Sultani Çekirdeksiz cultivar from 0,025 g/1 IBA (73,3 %). Concerning the rooting of rootstock cuttings, 1,2 g/1 Atonik dose gave the best results with the both graft combinations (100,0 %). 0,050 and 0,075 g/1 IBA treatments, and the other Atonik treatments generally increased the rooting percentages. The highest mean number of root per cutting were obtained from 1,8 g/1 Atonik dose (9.6 - 8.4 no/cut) in both graft combinations. Some of IBA, Atonik, and Maxicrop doses had some beneficial effect on shoot for mation of the cultivars, and the highest values were obtained from 1,8 g/1; 2,4 g/1 Atonik doses (46,6 % and 43,3 %). All the Atonik doses affected positively the shoot length, but the highest value was obtained from 1,2 g/1 dose of Maxicrop (97,5 cm). 53

ÖZ AYVA, DUT VE ZEYTİN ÖDÜN ÇELîKLESMîîM ALÇAK TÜNEL VE AÇIKTA KöKLESBîtîLMELERî Cvdonla vulgaris türüne giren Eşme ayva ve Morus. sp. türüne giren Ichınose dut çeşitlerinin. odun, O l e.a. eurcraea türüne giren Gemlik zeytin Çeşidinin odunsu Çelikleri ;IEA'in ** 1993 yılında O, 2000, 4000 ppm'lik, 1994 yılında ise O, 2COO, 4000 ve 6000 ppm'lik dozlarına 5 saniye süre ile bandırılarak plastik materyalden hazırlanan alçak tünellerde ve açıkta oluşturulan ünitelere dikilmişlerdir. Dikim ortamlarında bahçe toprağı, yanmış ahır gübresi ve kum karışımı kullanılmıştır. Çelikler köklendirme ortamlarına üstten 1-2 göz toprak yüzeyinde kalacak biçimde dik ve 45°etimli olarak dikilmişlerdir. Çeliklerin köklenmeleri üzerinde uygulamaların Önemli etkileri olmuştur, îlk yılda açıkta yapılan koklendirmelerden ayva ve dut çeliklerinde sp.nuÇ alınamamış, zeytin Çeliklerin-_ de ise açıktaki köklenme oranları.(%2.5-22) âlvak tünele göre (%6-62) önemli ölçüde düşük bulunmuştur. Ayva ve dut Çeliklerinde. IBA konsantrasyonu ve dikim şeklinin köklenme oranı ve kök kalitesi üzerine etkisi her iki yılda da önemli olmamış ve köklenme oranı ayva Çeliklerinde, %4-12, dut çeliklerinde 1993 yılında %0-8, 1994 yılında %4-18 arasında değişmiştir. Zeytin çeliklerinde en yüksek köklenme oranları, 1993 yılında alçak tünel altındaki, IBA uygulanmış ve eğimli di¬ kilmiş Çeliklerden elde edilmiş (%56-62), 1994 yılında ise, dikim şeklinin önemli etkisi görülmemiş, buna karşılık 100ve 6000 ppm dozundaki IBA uygulamaları (%50-69), kontrol ve 2000 ppm'e göre (%13-19) köklenme oranlarım önemli ölçüde yükseltmiştir. Uygulamaların kök sayılarına ve kök kalitelerine etkileri Çok belirgin olmamış, en yüksek köklenme oranını veren bazı uygulamalar aynı zamanda kök sayısını da arttırmışlardır. Uygulamaların sürgün uzunluğuna etkileri zeytinde dikkat Çekmiş, ancak bu farklılaşmalar pratik açıdan önemli bulunmamıştır. ABSTRACT ROOTIfJG OF QUINCE, MULBERRY AMD OLIVE'S HARDWOOD CUTTINGS UNDER PLASTIC TUWNEL AND IN THE FIELD Eşme Quince's (which belong to the species of Cydonia vulgaris ) and Ichinose mulberry's (which belong to the species of Morus sp. ) hard wood cuttings and Gemlik olive's (which belong to species of Olea eurooaea } sen, i hard -wood cuttings were treated with 0, 2000, 4000 ppm doses of IBA in 1993 and 0, 2000, 4000, 6000 ppm doses of IBA in 1994. Cuttings were dipped in to IBA with 5 seconds and then, planted under plastic tunnel and in the open field. Garden soil, stable manure and sand mixture were used in plant beds. Cuttings were planted upright and slope with 45 with their 1 or 2 buds on the soil surface. There were important effects of the treatments on root ing of cuttings. In the first year hardwood cuttings of quince and mulberry did not give any result in the open field. But with semi-hardwood cuttings of olive in the open field rooting rates were (2.5%-22%) which lower than under plastic tunnel's rates (6%-&2%). IBA applications and planting forms did not affect the rooting rates and root quality of quince and mulberry hard wood cuttings, in 1993 and 1994. Rooting rates of quince cuttings were 4-12% in 1993 and of mulberry cuttings were 0-3% in 1993 and 4-18% in 1994. The highest rooting rates of olive cuttings were obtained with plastic tunnel, IBA applied and slope plantedcuttings in 1993 (56-6.2%). Planting type were not important in 1994. But 4000 and 6000 ppia IBA were significantly increased the rooting rates (50-69%) compared to the control and 2000 ppm concentrations of IBA (12-19%) The effects of the applications on root number and root quality were not significant. Some applications which have high rooting rates increased also the root number. Effect of applications on the shoot length were established only in the olive cuttings but these effects were not seen important practically. 50

Uludağ Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Bahçe Bitkileri Bölümü'nde yapılan bu çalışmada, Perlette/99R ve Sultani Çekirdeksiz/99R aşı kombinasyonlarında IBA'ın (0; 0,025; 0,050; 0,075 g/1), Atonik'in (0; 1,2; 1,8; 2,4 g/1), Maxicrop'un (0; 1,2; 1,8; 2,4 g/1) dozlarının aşı yerinde kallus oluşumu, çimlendirme sırasında ve sonraki dönemlerde kalem gözlerinde sürme oranı, anaç çeliklerinde köklenme oranı ile çelik başına ortalama kök sayısı üzerine etkilerini incelemek amacıyla 1994 yılında yapılmış ve aşağıdaki sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. IBA'nın her üç dozu Sultani Çekirdeksiz/99R aşı kombinasyonunda aşı yerine çepeçevre kallus oluşumunu kendi kontrolüne göre kısmen yükseltmiştir. Perlette/99R aşı kombinasyonunda ise sadece 0,075 g/l'lik dozu bu oranı kısmen yükseltmiştir. IBA uygulamalarında en yüksek etkiyi Perlette çeşidinde 0,075 g/1 (% 43,0), Sultani Çekirdeksiz de 0,025 g/İ'lik (% 33,0) IBA dozları vermiştir. Atonik ve Maxicrop genellikle kendi kontrollerine göre çepeçevre kallus oluşumunu her iki çeşitte de kısmen azaltmış, ancak, bu oranı Atonik'in 1,8 g/l'lik (% 47,0) ve Maxicrop'un 2,4 g/l'lik (% 40,0) dozları Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde kısmen yükseltirken, Perlette çeşidinde 1,2 g/l'lik Maxicrop kısmen yükseltmiştir. En iyi sonuçlar, Perlette çeşidinde 1,2 g/l'lik ve 1,8 g/l'lik Atonik'ten (% 56,6) ve Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde Atonik'in 2,4 g/l'lik, Maxicrop'un 1,2 g/l'lik dozlarından (% 53,3) alınmıştır. Genel ortalamalara bakıldığında IBA, Atonik ve Maxicrop'un tüm uygulamalarında kısmen veya önemli bir artış sağlanmıştır. Uygulamaların çimlendirme sırasında kalem gözlerinin sürmesi üzerine etkileri incelendiğinde, IBA'nın her üç dozu her iki çeşitte, Atonik'in tüm dozlarının Perlette çeşidinde sürme oranını kısmen veya Önemli derecede yükselttiği, Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde önemli etki yapmadığı, Maxicrop'un ise bu bakımdan her iki çeşitte de önemli etki yapmadığı veya kısmen azalttığı saptanmıştır. Uygulamaların genel etkileri dikkate alındığında ise, bu oranı IBA'n önemli derecede, Atonik'in ise kısmen veya önemli derecede yükselttiği,45 Maxicrop'un ise azalttığı belirlenmiştir. Burada en yüksek değeri IBA'nın 0,075 g/l dozu verirken (% 70,0), en düşük değeri Maxicrop'un 1,8 g/l'lik dozu vermiştir (% 7,0). Anaç çeliklerinin köklenme oranı yönünden Atonik'in her üç dozu her iki aşı kombinasyonunda da kendi kontrollerine göre köklenme oranını kısmen veya önemli derecede yükseltmiş, en iyi sonuçlar Perlette/99R kombinasyonunda 1,2 g/l (% 100), Sultani Çekirdeksiz/99R kombinasyonunda 1,2 g/l ve 1,8 g/l'lik dozlarından alınmıştır (% 100.0). IBA uygulamalarında ise Perlette/99R kombinasyonunda 0,050 g/l'lik ve Sultani Çekirdeksiz/ 99R kombinasyonunda 0,075 g/l'lik doz, köklenme oranını kısmen arttırmıştır. Maxicrop ise bu bakımdan her iki aşı kombinasyonunda yükseltici bir etki yapmamış, hatta 1,8 g/l'lik dozu bu oranı kısmen veya önemli derecede azaltmıştır. Uygulamaların genel ortalamaları dikkate alındığında ise, IBA ve özellikle Atonik'in köklenme oranını kontrollere göre kısmen veya önemli derecede arttırdığı, Maxicrop'un ise önemli etki yapmadığı veya kısmen azalttığı görülmektedir. Burada en iyi etkiyi Atonik 1,2 g/l'lik dozu (% 100) verirken, bunu Atonik'in 1,8 g/l'lik dozu izlemiştir (% 98,3). Köklenme oranı yönünden en düşük değer ise Maxicrop'un 1,8 g/l'lik uygulamasından alınmıştır (% 56,6). Çelik başına ortalama kök sayısı da uygulamalara göre önemli değişimler göstermiştir. Atonik'in her üç dozu her iki aşı kombinasyonunda da kendi kontrollerine göre çelik başına ortalama kök sayısını kısmen veya önemli derecede yükseltmiş; her iki aşı kombinasyonunda da en yüksek değeri 1,8 g/l'lik doz vermiştir (sırasıyla 9,4 adet/çelik, 8,6 adet/ çelik). Maxicrop ve IBA uygulamaları ise kök sayısını her iki kombinasyonda da genellikle kendi kontrollerine göre kısmen azaltmıştır. Genel ortalamalara bakıldığında Atonik'in çelik başına ortalama kök sayısını arttırdığı belirlenmiştir. Temmuz ayı içinde yapılan aşı sürgünü sayımlarında; Perlette çeşidinde en yüksek oran, Maxicrop'un 1,2 g/l uygulamasından alınırken (% 46,6), Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde Atonik'in 1,8 g/l uygulamasından elde edilmiştir (% 46,6). IBA'ın her üç dozu aşı sürgünü oranına Perlette çeşidinde kontrollerine göre önemli bir etki yapmamış, Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde kısmen yükseltmiş, Maxicrop'un ise 1,2 g/l ve 1,8 g/l'lik dozları her iki çeşitteki oranları kısmen veya önemli derecede yükseltmiştir. Atonik'in bu bakımdan etkisi farklı olmuş, Perlette çeşidinde 1,8 g/l ve 2,4 g/l'lik, Sultani Çekirdeksiz çeşidinde 1,2 g/l ve 1,8 g/ 1'lİk dozları sürgün oranını kısmen arttırmıştır. Aşı sürgünlerinin uzunluğu bakımından; Pcrlette çeşidinde en yüksek değeri Maxicrop 1,2 g/1 uygulaması sağlamış (148,3 cm), Sultani Çekirdeksiz Çeşidinde ise en yüksek değer Atonik'in 1,8 g/lt'lik dozu (98,6 cm) elde edilmiştir. Uygulamaların genel etkileri dikkate alındığında aşı yerinde sürgün uzunluğu yönünden en yüksek değeri Maxicrop'un 1,2 g/l'lik dozu (97,5 cm) vermiştir. Ali three doses of IBA parlially inereased the rate of round callusing at the graft unions conıparcd witlı its control in Sultani Çckirdcksiz/99R grafting combination, vvlıercas in Pcr-lette/99R grafting combination, only 0,075 g/l dose partially inereased this rate. The highest cffccl in IBA applications was obtaincd from 0,075 g/l and 0,025 g/l doses in ev. Perlettc (43,0 %) and cv. Sultani Çekirdeksiz (33,0 %), respeetively. Comparcd with thcir Controls, Atonik and Maxicrop partially decreased the fornıation of round callusing, hovvcver 1,8 g/l Atonik and 2,4 g/l Maxicrop partially inereased this rate in Sultani Çekirdeksiz (47,0 % and 40,0 %, respectivelly), whereas in cv. Perlette 1,2 g/l Maxicrop partially inereased this rate. Whcn the general averages arc laken into coıısidcration, tlıc round callusing was positivc wi(h 0,075 g/l, 1,8 g/l and 1,2 g/l doses of IBA, Atonik and Maxicrop, respeetively. Almost ali doses of IBA, Atonik and Maxicrop had partially or significantly positive ef-fect on side callusing in both cultivars. The best results were obtaincd fıom 1,2 g/l and 1,8 g/l Atonik applications in cv. Perlette with 56,6 % and from 2,4 g/l Atonik and 1,2 g/l Maxicrop applications with 53,3 % in Sultani Çekirdeksiz. When the general averages are considered a partial or significant inerease were obtaind from ali applications of IBA, Atonik and Maxi-erop. Wlıcn tlıc cffccts of applications on bud burst of scions considered il was determined that, ali three doses of IBA partially or significantly inereased the burst ratio in the two cultivars and ali doses of Atonik inereased this rate in cv. Perlette while they did not have significant cffcct on cv. Sultani Çekirdeksiz, whcrcas Maxicrop did not have significant effect or causcd a partial reduclion in the two graft combinations with this respect. When the general cffccts of applications arc considered, it was determined that IBA inereased this rate significantly, Atonik inereased partially or significantly, whcrcas Maxicrop decreased il. Tlıc highest valuc was obtaincd from 0,075 g/l IBA opplication with 70,0 % vvhcrcas tlıc lowcst from 1,8 g/l Maxicrop with 7 %. With respect to rooting rate of rootstock cuttings, ali three doses of Atonik partially or significantly increased it compared with their Controls in both grafting combinations, and the best results were obtained from 1,2 g/1 dose in Perlette/99R combination (100 %) and from 1,2 g/1 and 1,8 g/1 doses in Sultani Çekirdeksiz99/R grafting combination (100 %). With IBA applications, 0,050 g/1 and 0,075 g/1 doses partially increased the rooting rate, in the combinations of Perlette/99R and Sultani Çekirdeksiz/99R respectively. Whereas Maxicrop did not have a positive effect in both graft combinations in this respect, countrarily 1,8 g/1 dose partially or significantly decreased this rate. When the general averages of the opplications are considered IBA and especially Atonik increased the rooting rate partially or significantly compared with Controls, vvhcreas Maxicrop did not have significant effect or partially reduced this rate. Here, the best result was obtained from 1,2 g/1 Atonik application with 100 % and this was followed by 1,8 g/1 Atonik with 98,3 %, the lowest value by rooting (56,6 %) was obtained from 1,8 g/1 Maxicrop application. Average root number per cutting exhibited significant changes in relatiön to the applications. Ali three doses of Atonik partially or significantly increased the average root number per cutting compared with their Controls, the highest values were obtained from 1,8 g/1 dose in both graft combination (8,6 no/cutting and 9,4 no/cutting). Maxicrop and IBA applications partially reduced the number of roots in both combinations compared with their Controls in general. When the general averages are considered only Atonik increased the mean number of roots per cutting. İn the bud shoot counts conducted in July, the highest rate in cv. Perlette was obtained from 1,2 g/1 application of Maxicrop (46,6 %), while it was taken from 1,8 g/1 Atonik application in cv. Sultani Çekirdeksiz (46,6 %). Ali three doses of IBA did not significantly affect the shoot ratio in cv. Perlette compared with their Controls, whereas in cv. Sultani Çekirdeksiz they partially increased this ratio, and 1,2 g/1 and 1,8 g/1 doses of Maxicrop partially or significantly increased the rates in both cultivars. The effect of Atonik with this respect was dif-ferent, i.e. 1,8 g/1 and 2,4 g/1 doses partially increased the shoot rates in cv. Perlette on the other hand 1,2 g/1 and 1,8 g/1 doses, in cv. Sultani Çekirdeksiz. When the general effects of the applications are considered, 1,8 g/1 Atonik (40,0 %) and 1,2 g/1 Maxicrop (36,6 %) gave the best results. Concerning the shoot length, the highest values were obtained from 1,2 g/1 Maxicrop application with Perlette cultivar (148,3 cm), and from 1,8 g/1 Atonik application with Sultani Çekirdeksiz cultivar (98,6 cm). Whcn the general effect of the applications are considered 1,2 g/1 Maxicrop application gave the highest value (97,5 cm).

46 6.ÖZET Bu araştırma, 1991-1992 yıllarında U.Ü.Ziraat Fakültesi Bahçe Bitkileri Bölümü ve özel bir üretici bahçesinde yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın bitkisel materyalini Juglans re.g.i.a L. türüne giren bir ve iki yaslı ceviz çöğürleri ve Yalava-3 çeşidi oluşturmuştur. Kimyasal madde olarak çöğürlere Cultar (Paclobutrazol, PP333)'ın O, 1500 ve 3000 ppm'lik dozları; kalemlik ağaçlara Atonik'in O ve 1000 ppm'lik dozları uygulanmıştır. Çöğür yası ve aşı uygulama dönemine göre bir kıyaslama yapıldığında en yüksek ası tutma oranını ortalama X 98.0 ile bir yaşlı çöğürlerdeki durgun I göz asısı vermiştir. Bunu ortalama % 83.3 ası tutma oranı ile iki yaslı çöğürlerdek i durgun I göz asısı uygulaması izlemiştir. Bir yaslı çögürlerdeki sürgün I göz asısı ortalama 7. 66.2 ası tutma oranı ile en düşük değeri vermiştir. Ası sürme oranlarındaki en yüksek değeri % 85.6 ortalama ile yine bir yaslı çögürlerdeki durgun I göz asısı vermiştir. Bunu % 48.3 ası sürme ortalaması ile iki yaslı çögürlerdeki durgun I göz asısı izlemiş, en düşük aşı sürme oranı ise 7. 34.8 ile bir yaslı çögürlerdeki sürgün asıdan elde edilmist ir. I göz aşısında, aşı tutma ve sürme yönünden iki yaşlı çöğürler kullanıldığında Ağustos ayı ortasında, bir yaşlı çöğürler kullanıldığında Ağustos sonu-Eylül başında yapılan durgun aşılar veya Mayıs ayı başındaki sürgün aşılar iyi sonuç vermektedir, Bu bakımdan en iyi zamanlardaki ortalama tutma oranları sırasıyla Y. 94.4, % 99.5, % 83.6 ve sürme47 oranları sırasıyla % 57.8, `/. 90.O, % 58.9 olmuştur. Paclobutrazol uygulamaları en iyi sonuçları durgun asılarda uygulama zamanından sonraki i, ve 14. günlerde vermiş,, uygulamadan 7 gün sonra özellikle 1500 ppm dozda ı önemli azalmalar görülmüştür. Sürgün asılarda ise 7» günde en iyi sonucu vermiştir. Atani k, iki yaşlı çöğürlerde uygulamadan sonra 1., 7. ve 14. günlerdeki dört ası kombinasyonunda tutma oranını, 7. ve 14. günlerdeki tüm aşılarda sürme oranını kısmen arttırmış, bir yaşlı çöğürlere uygulanan durgun ve sürgün aşıların bazı kombinasyonlarında tutma oranını kısmen,, sürme oranını ise üç uygulama kombinasyonunda önemli derecede arttırmış, ancak etkileri kararlı ve belirgin olmamıştır. Çöğür yaşı, aşı zamanı, Paclobutrazol ve Atani k uygulamaları birlikte dikkate alındığı saman aşı tutma ve sürmesi bakımından en iyi aşı kombinasyonları, aşağıdaki gibi veri lebi l ir s iki yaşlı çöğürlerdeki durgun aşılarda: Çöğürlere 3OOO ppm Paclobutrazol,, aşı kalemi alınacak ağaçlara 1000 ppm Atani k uygulamasından sonraki 14. günde (16.8.1991) yapılan aşılar (`'. 90.0 tutma, 7. 80.0 sürme). Bir yaşlı çögürlerdeki durgun aşılarda! 21.8.1991 tarihinde Paclobutrazol veya Atorıik uygulanmadan yapılan aşılar (% 10O.O tutma, % 100.0 sürme).
