This study aims to reveal factors that impact the logistics service performance of sellers in online marketplaces. The convenience of online shopping is changing the shopping habits and steering consumers towards online channels. This situation compels retailing firms to be visible online. However, unlike big retailing firms, smaller firms (especially SMEs) find it very difficult to sell their products on their proprietary websites due to high marketing, technical, and marketing costs. For this reason, many of them choose to sell their products in online marketplaces, but price-based competition among sellers in these marketplaces increases the importance of logistics service performance for competitiveness. Therefore, there is a need to reveal factors that impact the sellers’ logistics service performance in online marketplaces. To this end, this study examines the sellers on a Turkish online shopping site GittiGidiyor, using a multi-group structural equational modelling. As a result of this examination, the factors found to affect logistics service performance are as follows: i) the number of different product categories offered by sellers, ii) selling items within particular product categories, iii) the 3PL company choice, iv) free shipping policy, v) the city from which products are shipped. These findings provide both theoretical and managerial insights. They not only enhance the understanding on the determinants of logistics service quality in an online marketplace context, but also provide guidance to e-tailers in elevating their logistics service performance in online marketplaces., Bu çalışma, onlinepazaryeri satıcılarının lojistik hizmet performanslarını etkileyen faktörleriortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Online alışverişin getirdiği kolaylıklar alışverişalışkanlıklarını değiştirerek tüketicileri online kanallara yöneltmiştir. Budurum perakende firmalarının online ortamda da görünür olmalarını zorunlukılmaktadır. Fakat büyük perakende firmaları haricindeki firmaların (özellikle ortave küçük boyutlu firmaların) ürünlerini kendi web sitelerinde satabilmeleri yüksekpazarlama, teknik ve finans maliyetlerinden ötürü oldukça zordur. Bu sebeple,birçok firma ürünlerini online pazaryeri platformlarında satmayı tercihetmektedir fakat bu platformlarda yaşanan fiyat rekabeti lojistik hizmetkalitesinin rekabetçilik açısından önemini arttırmaktadır. Bu yüzden, onlinepazaryeri satıcılarının lojistik hizmet performansını etkileyen faktörlerinortaya konması önem arz etmektedir. Bu faktörlerin ortaya çıkarılması için buçalışma, Türkiye’nin online alışveriş platformu GittiGidiyor’da ürünlerinisatan satıcıları çok gruplu yapısal eşitlik modellemesi yöntemini kullanarakincelemiştir. Bu incelemenin sonucunda, online pazaryerlerinde lojistik hizmetkalitesini etkileyen faktörler şu şekilde tespit edilmiştir: i) satılanürünlerin ilişkili olduğu ürün kategorisi sayısı, ii) belirli ürünkategorilerinde satış yapılması, iii) kargo firması seçimi, iv) ücretsiz kargogönderim politikası ve v) ürünlerin gönderildiği şehir. Elde edilen bu bulgularhem teorik hem de yönetimsel birçok çıkarım yapmaya imkân vermektedir. Buçalışma teorik olarak lojistik hizmet kalitesinin online pazaryeri bağlamındabelirleyicilerini ortaya koyarken, online pazaryerlerinde faaliyet göstereninternet perakendecilerine de lojistik hizmet kalitelerini nasılarttırabilecekleri konusunda yol göstermektedir.

The aim of this study is to show the effects of the product design decisions on supply chain strategies from the perspective of reverse logistics processes. The product modularity level is the product design decision having impacts not only on the forward logistics but also on reverse logistics. Product modularity may affect each reverse logistics process either positively or negatively in terms of its contribution to overall supply chain strategy that is either efficiency or responsiveness. Therefore, this paper examines how product modularity level affects six reverse logistics processes – collection, controlling, repairing, reusing, remanufacturing, and recycling – that in turn affect the efficiency and responsiveness of supply chains. This study conducts an interpretative research based on literature review and interviews made with practitioners in industry. This research reveals that while modular products are superior in reuse and repair, integral product are better off in collection and remanufacturing considering both supply chain efficiency and responsiveness., Bu çalışmanın amacı ürün tasarımı kararlarının tedarik zinciri stratejilerine etkisini ters lojistik süreçleri üzerinden göstermektir. Ürünün modülerlik seviyesi, önemli bir ürün tasarım parametresi olup sadece ileri lojistik akış süreçlerine değil aynı zamanda geri lojistik akış süreçlerine de etki etmektedir. Ürün modülerlik seviyesi, temelde iki farklı tedarik stratejisi olan verimliliği ve cevap verilebilirliği, her bir ters lojistik sürecine etki ederek pozitif ya da negatif olarak etkileyebilmektedir. Analizimiz işte bu çerçevede her bir geri lojistik sürecinin – toplama, kontrol, tamir, yeniden kullanım, yeniden üretim, geri dönüştürme - ürün modülerlik seviyesinden nasıl etkilendiğini ortaya koymakta ve bu etkinin tedarik zincirinin verimliliğine ve cevap verebilirliğine nasıl yansıdığını göstermektedir. Literatür taraması ve sektörde çalışan kişilerle yapılan mülakatlar, izlenilen “yorumlayıcı yaklaşım” yöntemi için veri olarak kullanılmıştır. Çalışmamız, tedarik zincirlerinin hem verimliliğinin hem de cevap verilebilirliğinin arttırmak için modüler tasarımların “yeniden kullanım” ve “tamir etme” süreçlerinde üstünlüğünü ortaya koyarken, entegre tasarımın ise “geri ürün toplama” ve “yeniden üretim” süreçlerinde üstünlüğünü tespit etmiştir.

This research aims to reveal the pre-conditions for local firms to form a joint venture with global giant firms, which is one of the most direct ways to integrate into global value chain. With globalization, the power concentrates into the hands of few firms in almost all industries. These firms, which have become multi-national enterprises, target the markets of developing countries for further growth. Thus, local firms under pressure may convert this difficulty to their favour only if they can develop capabilities and create a congruent organizational culture to the those of giant firms. This research makes a case study on two Turkish firms that drew the attention of giant firms leading to the joint ventures formed in different time periods. By examining the activities of two case firms before their forming joint venture, this research finds the commonalities across two cases regardless time. Therefore, the results of this research provide a guidance to Turkish firms on what they need to do in future for drawing the attention of giant firms. the results indicate an important theoretical contribution by linking the social capital theory to the pre-conditions of international strategic alliances, Bu araştırma, bölgesel firmalarının küresel değer zincirine entegre olabilmelerinin doğrudan yollarından biri olan yabancı dev firmalar ile ortak girişimde bulunabilmenin öncül koşullarını ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlamaktadır. Küreselleşme ile hemen hemen her endüstride güç, belli firmaların elinde toplanmakta ve çok uluslu şirket halini alan bu dev firmalar gelişmekte olan ülke pazarlarını büyümek için hedef almaktadır. Bunun sonucunda ayakta kalmaları zorlaşan bölgesel firmaların ancak yetilerini ve organizasyon kültürlerini dev firmalarınkine tamamlayıcı olarak geliştirdikleri takdirde bu durumu lehlerine çevirmeleri mümkün gözükmektedir. Farklı zaman dilimlerinde bunu başarabilmiş iki Türk firmasına vaka analizi yapan bu araştırma, dev firmaları ortaklık teklif ettirecek noktaya getiren süreçlerin ortak noktalarını zamandan bağımsız olarak ortaya koymaktadır. Böylelikle bu araştırmanın sonuçları gelecekte Türk firmalarının dev firmalarla ortaklık yaparak küresel değer zincirine adapte olmak için hangi süreçleri izlemeleri gerektiğine dair bir projeksiyon tutacaktır. Bu araştırmanın sonuçları ayrıca sosyal sermaye ile uluslararası iş birliklerinin öncül dinamiklerini ilişkilendirerek önemli teorik katkılarda bulunmaktadır

Yeni dijital üretim sistemlerini ve iş süreçlerini kapsayan Endüstri 4.0, insan gücüne dayanan üretim süreçlerinin yerini makine gücüne bırakmasıyla üretim süreçlerinin otomasyonlaşması olarak tanımlanabilir. Bilgi teknolojilerinin gelişimi ve entegrasyonu ile meydana gelen Endüstri 4.0 dönemi, lojistik yönetiminde birçok yeniliğe yol açmıştır. Bununla birlikte, bu yeni dönemde teknolojide yaşanan gelişmeler ve yenilikler insan faktörünün önemini arttırmakta ve insan kaynağında farklı nitelikler gerektirmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, İzmir'deki yerli lojistik firmalarının insan kaynaklarının Endüstri 4.0 dönemine hazır olup olmadıklarını ve yeni dijital süreçlerin bu firmaların insan kaynakları üzerindeki potansiyel etkilerini tespit etmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, İzmir'de faaliyet gösteren yerli lojistik firmaları ile çoklu vaka çalışması yapılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular, yerli lojistik firma çalışanlarının Endüstri 4.0 için gerekli olan niteliklere sahip olmadığını göstermektedir. Edinilen sonuçlara göre, çalışanların bu yeni döneme uyum sağlayabilmeleri için öncelikle veri analizi, programlama dili ve lojistik bilgi sistemlerinin kullanımı becerilerine sahip olmaları gerekmektedir. Bu noktada, yerli lojistik firmaları mevcut insan kaynağını bu yönde geliştirebilmek için devlet desteğine ihtiyaç duyduklarını belirtmişlerdir. Ayrıca, işgücü piyasasına sürekli nitelikli insan kaynağının sağlanabilmesi için üniversitelerin eğitim sisteminin Endüstri 4.0'ın gereksinimlerine göre yeniden yapılandırılması gerekliliği vurgulanmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Endüstri 4.0, Lojistik Sektörü, İnsan Kaynakları, Teknolojik Yenilikler Industry 4.0 covering new digital production systems and new business processes can be defined as automation of production processes as labor-based production processes have been replaced by the machine power. Industry 4.0 era that consists of the development and integration of information technologies has led to many innovations in the logistics management. Also, in this new era, technological progresses and innovations increase the importance of human factor and require different qualities for the human resources. The objective of this study is to determine whether the human resources of domestic logistics companies in İzmir are sufficient for Industry 4.0 era or not and the potential impact of new digital processes on them. For this purpose, a multiple case study was carried out in domestic logistics companies operating in Izmir. Findings show that domestic logistics companies are not ready for Industry 4.0, because their human resources do not have the necessary competences required by Industry 4.0. According to results, in order for the employees to adapt to this new era, they need first to gain competency in data analysis, programming language, and the use of logistics information systems. At this point, domestic logistics companies expect government incentives in order to provide these qualifications to their existing human resources. Also, the results suggest that the adaptation of education system in universities will facilitate the transition to this new era by continuously supplying qualified human resources to labor market.Keywords: Industry 4.0, Logistics sector, Human Resources, Technological Innovations 107
