AbstractObjectiveMethodResultsConclusionThis umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses evaluates the effectiveness of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) across various populations and settings.A total of 25 systematic reviews, including 15 meta-analyses, were analyzed. Reviews were included if they used systematic search methods and quality assessments and focused on the effectiveness of SFBT as a therapeutic approach.SFBT demonstrated significant positive outcomes across different issues, settings, and cultural contexts, with no evidence of harm. High confidence in evidence of effectiveness was established for depression, overall mental health, and progress towards individual goals for the adult population. In addition, findings indicated mainly moderate confidence in evidence of SFBT effectiveness for a wide variety of outcomes for all age groups. No difference was found in the confidence in the evidence by world region, though Western and Eastern studies researched some different aspects.SFBT is an effective therapeutic approach for various psychological, social, school, medical, couple, or self-related issues. Further research with rigorous methodologies and comprehensive reporting is needed to strengthen the confidence in these findings and provide evidence for the brevity of the intervention. Background: One of the most common disorders that negatively impacts all aspects of individuals' lives is social phobia disorder. In recent decades, there has been an increasing trend towards investigating the effectiveness of new therapeutic approaches in reducing social anxiety disorder among adolescents, and treatment protocols such as endurance training, metacognitive therapy, and solution-focused therapy have been examined for their efficacy in various studies. However, a research gap exists as no study has focused on comparing the differences between these treatments. Aims: The aim of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of metacognitive therapy, solution-focused therapy, and endurance training on self-efficacy beliefs of female students with social anxiety disorder. Methods: The present study employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test, post-test, and onemonth follow-up. Sixty female students from the second grade of secondary school in three educational districts of Kermanshah city in the academic year 1401-1402 were selected as the research sample based on accessibility and inclusion criteria. They were randomly assigned to four groups of 15 (three experimental and one control). The research instruments included the Social Anxiety Scale (Connor, 2000) and General Self-Efficacy Scale (Sherer, 1982). The data were analyzed using SPSS23 software and mixed analysis of variance. Results: The findings indicated that all three treatments led to an increase in self-efficacy beliefs of students with social anxiety disorder (p< 0.05), and no significant differences in effectiveness were observed among the three intervention groups of metacognitive therapy, solution-focused therapy, and endurance training (p> 0.05). Conclusion: Given that metacognitive therapy, solution-focused therapy, and endurance training were effective in enhancing self-efficacy beliefs of individuals with social anxiety disorder, it is recommended to utilize these two approaches to reduce social anxiety symptoms and improve the quality of life and other problems in private counseling centers. Social support is important for maintaining and restoring psychological well-being but the effects of individual psychotherapies on perceived social support are not well known. In this analysis of secondary outcomes from a randomized clinical study, we compared the effects of long-term psychotherapy and two short-term psychotherapies on social support during a 5-year follow-up. Altogether 326 adult outpatients suffering from depressive and/or anxiety disorders were randomly assigned to long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (LPP, n = 126), short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (SPP, n = 101) and solution-focused therapy (SFT, n = 97). Outcome was measured by the global index and six subscores of the self-reported Brief Inventory of Social Support and Integration scale (BISSI) at baseline and at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 years after the beginning of the therapy. Social support improved in all therapy groups and the improvement was relatively stable, lasting several years after the end of therapy. Little difference in improvement was observed either between therapy orientations or durations. While no major differences were observed between treatment groups, the slight differences call for further research to verify these findings and to better understand how different therapies may improve perceived social support. Preparing the future mental health workforce requires clinicians to be able to adapt their clinical work to different mental and medical healthcare settings to meet the growing need for mental health services. Medical Family Therapists (MedFTs) are specifically trained to provide care for patients from a biopsychosocial-spiritual perspective in diverse clinical settings. Having a theoretical foundation is a necessity for MedFTs to be able to adapt their clinical work to different contexts. Solution-focused therapy provides such a foundation. This paper provides examples of how MedFTs can use solution-focused therapy in traditional psychotherapy, integrated primary care, and integrated psychiatric care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim and background: Chronic headaches are a common type of headache that can significantly impact daily functioning. While drug therapy is often used to treat these headaches, it may not provide sufficient relief on its own. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of solution-focused therapy and narrative therapy in helping women with chronic headaches cope with stress and manage their emotions. Material and Methods: This semi-experimental study employed a pretest-posttest design with a control group and a two-month follow-up. The participants were women with chronic headaches who were attending a neurology clinic in Tehran in 2023. Forty-five women were selected using convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups (15 women in each group) and one control group (15 women). The experimental groups received eight sessions of either solution-focused therapy or narrative therapy, each lasting 90 minutes. The control group did not receive any intervention and remained on a waiting list. Data were collected using the short-form McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ-2) and the ways of coping questionnaire (WCQ) developed by Dworkin et al. (2009) and Folkman & Lazarus (1988), respectively. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS-28 software, encompassing descriptive and inferential statistics (repeated measures analysis of variance with Bonferroni post hoc test). Results: The results indicated that both interventions had a significant effect on the ways of coping with stress at the post-test and follow-up assessments (P<0.05). Additionally, the Bonferroni post hoc test revealed that self-narrative therapy was more effective in improving emotion-based coping with stress (P < 0.05). Conclusion: ThisBased on the findings, solution-focused therapy and narrative therapy can be considered as effective treatment methods for helping women with chronic headaches cope with stress and manage their emotions. Counseling centers may prioritize the use of narrative therapy in the treatment of women with chronic headaches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Today, with the increasing trend of urbanization and industrialization of societies, physical and mental diseases are increasing. The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) on emotion regulation, quality of life (QOL), pain perception, and hostile documents in patients with cardiovascular diseases. Methods: This research was a semi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design, a control group, and a 2-month follow-up period. The statistical population comprised patients with cardiovascular disease at Tehran Heart Hospital, Iran, in 2023. The statistical sample, consisting of 30 individuals, was purposefully selected. Subsequently, 15 individuals were randomly assigned to the control group and another 15 to the experimental group. The intervention group underwent SFBT, comprising 8 sessions of 90 minutes each, conducted once a week. Data were collected and analyzed using the Affective Control Scale (ACS; Williams et al., 1997), the World Health Organization Quality of life Questionnaire (WHOQOLBREF), the McGill Pain Questionnaire (MPQ; Melzack, 1975), and the Hostile Documents Questionnaire (Arnetz et al., 2003). The variance was analyzed. Results: The results showed that with controlling the pretest, there was a significant difference between the scores of the control and experimental groups in terms of emotion regulation (p < 0.001; F = 40.716), QOI (p < 0.001; F = 110.980), pain perception (p < 0.001; F = 159.959), and hostile documents (p < 0.001; F = 168.955). Conclusion: These findings indicate that SFBT plays an important role in controlling heart patients' emotions and QOL so these findings can be used to formulate preventive and even treatment programs for heart patients. The article is a review of the book "Practicing Therapy as Social Construction" by Sheila McNamee, Emerson F. Rasera, and Pedro Martins. The book explores the concept of therapy as a social construction and offers a combination of theory and practice to guide professionals and scholars in understanding and questioning clinical practice. The authors emphasize the importance of questioning and reflecting on our own constructions of reality and engaging in conversations with others to open up new perspectives. The book also discusses the implications of macro social discourses and challenges in contemporary culture for therapy. Overall, the book encourages readers to embrace a perspective of the world as socially constructed and to actively engage in the process of meaning-making and understanding. Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) is an empirically-supported psychotherapeutic intervention in treating mental health issues in the general population. When being delivered to adolescents and young adults (AYAs) diagnosed with cancer, specific techniques and skills of SFBT need to be tailored to meet the unique bio-psycho-social challenges of the AYA cancer population. Using a patient-centered approach, our team interviewed 14 AYAs with cancer who received SFBT for cancer (SFBT-C) to inform the tailoring and refinement of the existing SFBT intervention specifically for the AYA cancer population. Themes emerged within three broad categories that informed the tailoring and refinement of SFBT for AYAs with cancer, i.e., general experiences, strengths, and weaknesses of SFBT-C. AYAs with cancer found SFBT-C overall positively different from other approaches. Strengths include SFBT-C's collaborative nature, using positive emotion as an important change mechanism, and a good balance between being relevant to cancer and not focusing too much on their cancer. Areas of improvement include assignment flexibility and different strategies to address resistance. The findings of this paper significantly inform the delivery of SFBT-C to AYAs with cancer using patient-centered feedback and input. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Due to the unpredictable nature of MS and high levels of anxiety, depression, and fatigue, psychological interventions can help improve worry, rumination, stress, and anxiety. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, which includes the development of awareness, a specific attitude framework, and a correct understanding of vulnerability, has led to the improvement of psychological symptoms and self-efficacy. It encourages clients to focus on their abilities and capabilities and seek solutions to their problems. However, comparative research on these two treatments has been neglected in the past. Aims: The present study was conducted to compare the efficacy of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and solution-focused therapy on the quality of life of patients with multiple sclerosis. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest and a control group. The sample size was 60 patients with multiple sclerosis in the city of Mashhad who were selected by convenience sampling method and randomly divided into two experimental groups (n = 40) and a control group (n = 20). The first experimental group received 8 two-hour sessions of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy by Segal et al. (2002) and the second experimental group also received 7 two-hour sessions of short-term solution–focused therapy by Desharz et al. (1970). The quality of life questionnaire of Vickery Multiple Sclerosis patients (1995) was completed by the subjects of all groups before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) and Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA). Results: The results of the analysis of covariance showed that Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and short-term solution–focused therapy increased the mean score of quality of life and its subscales in patients with multiple sclerosis in the experimental group compared with the control group (p0.05). Conclusion: Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and solution-focused therapy have both been effective in improving physical health, reducing pain, and improving social functioning, as well as increasing psychological health, such as reducing depression and anxiety in MS patients.

Solution-focused play therapy (SFPT) is a strengths-based approach to play therapy that helps children work through challenges by building on internal assets and external resources (Hartwig, 2021). SFPT is comprised of specific play therapy skills and techniques that are developmentally appropriate for all ages of children, with an emphasis on nondirective skills for younger children and more directive skills as children gain cognitive and verbal abilities. As a strengths-based theoretical modality, SFPT focuses on identifying small, measurable goals, and then working with the child to identify skills and strategies that can help them reach their goals. This article will review the history, evidence base, and foundations of SFPT, the solution-building process, and SFPT basic skills, techniques, and interventions. This article serves as an overview of the SFPT approach and underscores why this approach should be recognized in the play therapy field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effectiveness of intense specialised multi‐family therapy (ISMFT) for 111 multi‐stressed families, and the therapeutic alliance as a possible predictor of outcome, were examined. A repeated measures design was used, where changes in all ISMFT phases (preparation, multi‐family therapy and follow‐up) were assessed and compared for both mothers and fathers. Evidence was found for improved family functioning after the therapy period, which was maintained at 3 months follow‐up, although the multi‐stressed families still functioned in the problematic range. The therapy did however not decrease parenting stress, or did so only temporarily. Observations of the therapeutic alliance with the System for Observing Family Therapy Alliances (SOFTA) scales indicated that high therapist engagement was related to positive therapy outcomes, both at the start of therapy and later. High family engagement also predicted therapy effectiveness, but only at the start of therapy. The present study shows that solution‐focused multi‐family therapy at least seems to provide the first step in alleviating problems in multi‐stressed families. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Couple psychotherapy is a distinct and developing field of psychotherapy. In this text, attention is given to one approach to psychotherapeutic work with couples, namely the solution-focused approach. The aim of the text is to introduce the solution-focused approach and the possibilities of its practical application in the context of couple psychotherapy. In the first part of the text the principles of the chosen approach and the basic methods that can be used in couple psychotherapy are presented. At the core of the text are two areas that are particularly relevant to working with couples using the solution-focused approach and that also present some challenges for psychotherapists using the solution-focused approach in couple psychotherapy. The first of these areas is how to integrate the partners' perspectives in the therapy session so that they can be heard, accepted, and further developed in conversation in a useful way. The second area, which receives more detailed attention in this text, is the negotiation of preferred futures (i.e., ideas of desired change) with partners. It describes how to develop a shared description of preferred future with partners and how to work in situations where partners' ideas about preferred futures are different or even contradictory. The text is supplemented with examples from the author's practice as well as illustrative examples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: In solution-focused models (SFMs), patients are mobilized to achieve better outcomes through their initiative and potential. In this study, the effect of solutionfocused therapy on anxiety and postpartum depression (PPD) of nulliparous pregnant women was investigated. Methods: The study was quasi-experimental, with a pre-test, post-test, and control group. The statistical population of this study was all pregnant women who were referred to be under routine care in the Isfahan Vahid Health Center, Isfahan, Iran, from August to November 2022. In this study, 30 eligible pregnant women were selected and invited to participate purposefully. Then the participants were randomly (tossing) divided into two groups, a solution-focused therapy group (15 people) and a control group (15 people). The solution-focused group received eight 1.5-hour counseling sessions, which were held weekly. The control group received no counseling and only routine healthcare services. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) and SPSS software. Results: Solution-focused therapy was effective on PPD (F = 19.66, P < 0.001) and anxiety (F = 22.37, P < 0.001) in nulliparous pregnant women. Conclusion: SFM is a useful tool that can help reduce anxiety and PPD in nulliparous pregnant women. This approach can help nulliparous pregnant women learn skills to reduce PPD symptoms. Long-term behavioral change is often difficult to achieve with adolescents staying in residential youth care. To achieve long-term behavioral change, we developed the Up2U training program to enhance these adolescents' intrinsic motivation for change. Based on motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapy, Up2U is designed for conducting one-on-one conversations with adolescents in residential youth care. The aim of this study is to evaluate the experiences that adolescents and care workers have had with Up2U. The results of semi-structured interviews show that, in general, the care workers were satisfied with Up2U. They identified the clarity, conciseness, and sample questions as positive elements of Up2U. In contrast, the care workers regarded the extensiveness and the implementation of Up2U as less positive. The adolescents also seemed to be positive about the use of Up2U during one-on-one conversations. In conclusion, although both care workers and adolescents were generally satisfied, there is still room for improvement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOLUTION-focused therapy , *PSYCHOLOGICAL distress , *JOB stress , *COUNSELING , *SOCIAL anxiety , *QUALITY of life , *TIME management - Abstract
This conceptual paper aims to understand the psychological distress that occurs among employees in organizations and to find out how the Solution-Focused Therapy able to help counsellors in helping their clients in managing their psychological distress. Psychological distress refers to two main components namely depression and anxiety that often occur to employees due to factors such as excessive workload, health problems, responsibilities to family, social relationships, relationships with spouses, time management and lack of self-care. While there are a variety of methods that can be used to help them reduce such stress levels, it is still not well resolved. In fact, it continues to disrupt the emotions and quality of life among the employees. The adverse effects of psychological distress can be identified based on four aspects namely physical, emotional, behaviour and thought. Therefore, it is important for counselling practitioners to strive and help organizational employees to manage their stress better. Solution-Focused Therapy as an intervention in a counselling session that serves as a guideline for the counsellor to understand the factors, effects, and the real issues that is happening to the client. Solution Focused Therapy also helps counsellors to be able to quickly understand the issues and focus more on solutions rather than the problems. By having a clear understanding of the real issue, counsellors can apply techniques in Solution Focused Therapy such as scaling techniques and magic questions in their session. The use of these therapy techniques is proven to help clients to be more realistic in finding their own solutions to the problems and later help them to reduce the level of psychological distress. Solution-focused approaches are one approach to treatment used in a wide variety of settings in modern mental healthcare services. As yet, there has been no overall synthesis of how this approach is understood in the adult mental health literature. This conceptual review aimed to synthesize the ways that solutionfocused approaches have been conceptualized and understood, within the adult mental health literature, in the five decades since their conception. A systematic search followed by multiple techniques from the narrative synthesis approach were used to develop a conceptual framework of the extracted data. Fifty-six papers published between 1993 and 2019 were included in the review. These papers spanned a variety of clinical contexts and countries, but despite this the underlying key principles and concepts of solution-focused approaches were remarkably similar over time and setting. Thematic analysis of extracted data outlined five key themes relevant to the conceptualization of this approach. This conceptual framework will help support clinicians using solution-focused techniques or therapies by giving them a coherent understanding of such approaches, by what mechanisms they work, and how key principles of this approach can be utilized in adult mental health settings. Adolescence is a critical period of life, and delinquent adolescents are exposed to many psychological traumas. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of solution-based treatment on adjustment and mental health of juvenile delinquents in Tehran. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pre-test post-test design with the control group. The study's statistical population included juvenile delinquents aged 14-18 years in Tehran Correction and Rehabilitation Center in 2018-2019; so 24 were selected by available sampling method and then randomly in two experimental and control groups (12 people in each group) were replaced. Mental health, adjustment, and delinquency attitude questionnaires were used to collect information. The experimental group underwent a solution-oriented group consultation for eight sessions of 90 minutes once a week, and the control group did not receive any intervention. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that solution-oriented treatment significantly affects delinquent adolescents' adjustment and mental health. Present study results can be used theoretically and practically by counselors, psychologists, and relevant organizations.

- Abstract
This book presents a research-based solution-focused applied psychology approach (SoFAP-P) that is efficient and effective in helping clients address challenges and can be applied to a wide range of psychological domains.Lessons learned from preceding psychological models, including psychoanalysis, behavioral therapy, humanistic psychology, family systems therapy and the pioneering contributions of Milton Erickson and the groundbreaking solution-focused therapy of Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg, culminate in this innovative SoFAP-P approach. Based on a thorough analysis of many solution-focused case studies, this tested and validated scientifically based protocol can be used as a learning guide to better understand the SoFAP-P, as well as the innovative qualitative methodology used to validate it. Cauffman and Weggeman show how this design science research (DSR) methodology is used to design, test and validate a generic set of actions that yield interventions to effectively apply to solution-focused client cases. The book demonstrates the importance of SoFAP-P to both psychological science and society and offers a glimpse into its growing potential as an intervention model. Those interested in the field of DSR will benefit from the overview of one of the first applications of DSR methodology in the psychological sciences, as well as students and academics in applied psychology.

- Abstract
This book captures solution-focused therapy's essence, which distinguishes it from problem-focused approaches that have dominated the psychotherapy profession for over a century. What do therapists and clients talk about when therapy is effective? The development of solution-focused therapy (SFT) has been guided by the ongoing effort to answer this question. Solution-focused therapy is a collaborative approach that invites clients to describe what they want from therapy and apply the knowledge and skills they already have toward achieving it in the shortest time possible. The three main tasks of solution-focused therapy include setting a direction based on what the client wants from therapy, building on exceptions and other resources that are already happening and available in the client's life, and exploring progress toward desired outcomes. The three main techniques of SFT are asking, listening, and amplifying. When practicing purely solution-focused therapy, the therapist does little outside of these activities. Solution-focused principles and practices reflect the core values, ethical codes, and practice standards of professional associations and licensing boards in psychology, counseling, social work, and other helping professions. SFT has proven useful with persons from a variety of cultures and contexts, and on an array of concerns including trauma, substance misuse, and suicide prevention. It is well suited to the time constraints, third-party requirements, and other practical realities facing today's therapists and clients.

Which of them are related to gender, which of them to the Solution Focused Approach, and which of them to your sociocultural context? Contributors also provide insights on how they work from the Solution Focused approach integrating their own creative styles using embodiment and dance, animal assisted therapy, and humour. The chapters in this book explore a wide variety of themes and contexts, including shelters, trauma, the LGBTQ community, prisons, schools, refugee camps, veterans, the medical field, research, children, and more. This book will inspire practitioners regardless of gender to reflect on their own practice and to use and apply the Solution Focused Approach in innovative and creative ways.

- Abstract
Written by the developers of the microanalysis of opportunities approach, this book describes how clinicians can use this model when listening and responding to clients in solution-focused therapy, training, coaching, and supervision.Joel K. Simon and Lance Taylor begin by reviewing the evolution, philosophical foundations, and intervention tools of solution-focused brief therapy, sharing how their practice has evolved over time from their clinical experience with clients, trainees, supervisees, and colleagues. Moving from theory to practice, the book then explores microanalysis of opportunities, beginning with how the authors developed the approach and created the process. Replete with actual examples of conversations between clients and therapists, and between trainer and trainee, the book demonstrates how the model can be applied in practice with analyses and discussions about analyzed material throughout. It displays the application of the approach to coaching, supervision, and training. This valuable book will not only be useful to therapists new to solution-focused brief therapy, but also to those who are experienced solution-focused practitioners. Psychotherapists, clinical social workers, counselors, and other mental health professionals will find this an illuminating read.

QUALITY of life , *SOLUTION-focused therapy , *PATIENT-centered communication , *PATIENT satisfaction , *COST effectiveness - Abstract
Background: Severe mental illness (SMI) presents a major challenge worldwide, affecting approximately 5–8% of the world's population. It causes significant distress to affected people, families and wider communities, generating high costs through loss of productivity and ongoing healthcare use. Over 75% of patients with psychosis receive inadequate care and experience a negative financial impact and reduced quality of life (QoL). It is therefore a priority to reduce the treatment gap by providing low-cost, effective interventions for people with psychosis. Our research project, PIECEs, is designed to explore, adapt and test a low-cost, approach (DIALOG+) that makes use of existing resources to improve community-based care for patients with psychosis. The research will be conducted in two urban sites: Karachi, Pakistan and Chennai, India. DIALOG+ is a novel, technology-assisted and resource-oriented intervention, based on QoL research, concepts of patient-centred communication, IT developments and solution-focused therapy. However, the approach has not been rigorously tested within India and Pakistan. Our randomised controlled trial (RCT) aims to test the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of DIALOG+ in improving the QoL and clinical outcomes for individuals with long-term psychosis being treated in the community in India and Pakistan. Methods: To assess the acceptability, feasibility, and cost effectiveness of DIALOG+, we will conduct a cluster RCT with 210 patients and 14 clinicians in each country. The intervention will be used during a routine interaction between a clinician and a patient. It consists of a patient-centred assessment (the DIALOG scale) whereby the clinician invites the patient to rate their satisfaction with different life domains and treatment aspects, which forms the active control group. The intervention group will follow this up with a four-step solution-focused approach to identify the patient's resources and develop solutions to deal with the patient's concerns (DIALOG+). Discussion: If shown to be effective DIALOG+ has the potential to improve community-based care and the QoL for millions of people within India and Pakistan who experience psychosis. Trial registration: The trial was registered prospectively on the ISRCTN Registry: ISRCTN13022816 on 9 February 2022. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The author, adressing one of the most popular therapeutic methods nowadays: short-term solution-focused therapy (TSR; Brief Solution Focused Therapy, BSFT), shares her experience of application of the key rules of BSFT in the work of the "Jest Czas" Children and Youth Support Centre in Płock in the scope of shaping dialogue skills in the family and therapist's communication with its members, particularly in the context of cooperation with the school. She emphasises that a distinctive feature of BSFT is that the therapist does not analyse the reported problem in the first place, does not focus on the diagnosis and the patient's past, does not want to be just a guidance-giving expert, but works mainly on the "client's resources" (predispositions, skills, meaningful feelings, proper behaviours) that have proven themselves to function in the client's life. She further outlines five rules of BSFT therapeutic work, completed and reinterpreted in the centre she leads. The author underlines that in complementing these rules, the Płock centre also uses a scenario developed by Maurice Berger, a French specialist in a child and family psychology, creator of the model of "therapeutic interviews with the family" (entretiens thérapeutiques avec la famille) and emphasises harmonising the philosophical foundation of BSFT (constructivism, postmodernism, narrativism) with the stream of Christian personalism. The purpose of this article is to discuss the value of the single-session mindset within the Latinx community. We explore the single-session mindset with a composite case of a middle-aged Latinx woman. The given case was a psychotherapy session at Our Lady of the Lake's community clinic where therapists-in-training are supervised by licensed professionals throughout their masters and doctoral programs. The case illustrates working within a single-session framework guided by solution-focused therapy. Additionally, it demonstrates working with a Latina client and what has been traditionally labeled as "posttraumatic stress disorder" (PTSD). The authors further highlight how peoples' strengths and resources may be utilized to help the client within a single session. A discussion is presented of how such changes were made possible through the use of cultural humility and the establishment of a strong therapeutic alliance, despite the therapists' initial concerns that language might pose a barrier. A commonly stated critique of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a lack of attention to the client's emotional experience and the use of emotion as a mechanism for producing meaningful change. We review and define the current research regarding emotion, feeling, and affect and its value and relevance to the clinical application of SFBT. We also provide a brief history of the SFBT model and its documented emphasis on cognitive and behavioral change versus emotional change. In embodying the spirit of this approach for examining what works and doing more of it, we propose a next step of SFBT to more overtly attend to the emotional language of clients and to purposefully create emotional experiences with our clients. We demonstrate this by providing clinical examples for how SFBT practitioners can incorporate and build upon clients' emotional language to create emotionally‐changing experiences to more broadly and effectively co‐create long‐lasting change.
