The Mbwaa story recounts the singular adventure of the Ngaa, “ancestors” of the Meru, who flee Mbwaa to escape the bullying of the Nguontuune. The story can be broken down into three episodes: the bullying, the escape across an expanse of water that parts, and the arrival in a new land.
