Abstract

Lunar reference systems represent a fundamental aspect of lunar exploration. This paper presents a review of the topic in the context of the ESA lunar programme, MoonLight. This paper describes the current state of the art in the definition of the lunar reference frame and introduces TCL, a lunar time scale based on IAU resolutions. It also proposes several possible implementations of this time scale for orbiting and ground-based clocks. Finally, it provides an assessment of the improvement of the lunar reference frame that would result from the addition of lunar retro-reflectors on the Moon surface and the use of orbiter altimetry. Abstract

Improving and homogenizing time and space reference systems on Earth and, more directly, realizing the Terrestrial Reference Frame (TRF) with an accuracy of 1mm and a long-term stability of 0.1mm/year are relevant for many scientific and societal endeavors. The knowledge of the TRF is fundamental for Earth and navigation sciences. For instance, quantifying sea level change strongly depends on an accurate determination of the geocenter motion but also of the positions of continental and island reference stations, as well as the ground stations of tracking networks. Also, numerous applications in geophysics require absolute millimeter precision from the reference frame, as for example monitoring tectonic motion or crustal deformation for predicting natural hazards. The TRF accuracy to be achieved represents the consensus of various authorities which has enunciated geodesy requirements for Earth sciences. Today we are still far from these ambitious accuracy and stability goals for the realization of the TRF. However, a combination and co-location of all four space geodetic techniques on one satellite platform can significantly contribute to achieving these goals. This is the purpose of the GENESIS mission, proposed as a component of the FutureNAV program of the European Space Agency. The GENESIS platform will be a dynamic space geodetic observatory carrying all the geodetic instruments referenced to one another through carefully calibrated space ties. The co-location of the techniques in space will solve the inconsistencies and biases between the different geodetic techniques in order to reach the TRF accuracy and stability goals endorsed by the various international authorities and the scientific community. 19. Changes in the Water Surface Level of the Baltic Sea from Satellite Altimetry and Gravity Missions.

Abstract

Satellite altimetry provides high-accuracy geometrical measurements of sea level changes. We analyze altimetry time series representing sea surface height anomalies over the mean sea surface provided by the TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1, Jason-2, and Jason-3 satellite missions to estimate the annual rate of sea level rise. Then, we compare the results with satellite gravimetric data from GRACE and GRACE Follow-On missions and surface water temperature data, employing statistical analyses to examine the interrelationships and correlations between them. We carry out the main analyses for the period 2001–2021 with a division into 5-year periods for six different areas of the Baltic Sea. The altimetric results show that between 2001 and 2021, the water level of the Baltic Sea rose by 5.8 mm/year on average. About 72% of the changes detected by altimetry missions can be explained by satellite gravimetry from GRACE and GRACE Follow-On, which means that the mass component is responsible for most of the observed sea level change, whereas the remaining 28% can be greatly explained by thermal expansion due to the water temperature rise. 47. Quality of multi-GNSS precise point positioning using stochastic modeling of the clock parameter

Abstract

Kvalita souřadnic stanic mezinárodní služby GNSS (IGS) závisí při GNSS nediferencovaných řešeních, mimo jiného, na typu oscilátoru umístěného na stanici. Je třeba rozlišovat mezi časovými standardy interních, rubidiových, cesiových a hydrogen maser hodin. Stabilita časových standardů se může lišit o několik řádů v závislosti na typu hodin. Vysoce přesné hodiny umožňují použití stochastického modelování v algoritmech absolutního určování polohy, což ikospřispívá k rychlejší konvergenci řešení a zvýšení přesnosti polohy. V technice měření Precise Point Positioning (PPP) využívající multi-GNSS, mohou být parametry hodin určovány dvěma způsoby. Buď se odhaduje parametr hodin samostatně pro každý systém, nebo je určen jeden parametr hodin pro všechny systémy s uvážením mezisystémových odchylek. V tomto článku analyzujeme vliv stochastického modelování parametru hodin na určení polohy v multiGNSS PPP řešení. Využíváme vybrané IGS stanice přijímající signály z družic systémů GPS, GLONASS, Galileo a BeiDou. Realizovány jsou všechny analýzy parametru hodin pro různé typy oscilátorů společně s výkonnostními charakteristikami každého systému. Důležitou výhodou modelování parametru hodin je v multi-GNSS PPP řešeních stabilizování výškové složky souřadnic stanice., The quality of the International GNSS Service (IGS) station coordinates depends, among other things, on the type of oscillator located at the station in undifferenced GNSS solutions. A distinction of the clock standards can be made between internal, rubidium, cesium, and hydrogen maser clocks. The stability of time standards can vary by several orders of magnitude depending on the type of clock. Highaccuracy clocks allow for the introduction of stochastic modeling in the absolute positioning algorithms which contributes to faster solution convergence and superior position accuracy. In the Precise Point Positioning (PPP) measurement technique based on multi-GNSS, the clock parameter may be determined in two ways. Either it is estimated separately for each system, or a single clock parameter is determined for all systems, taking into account the inter-system biases. In this paper, we analyze the impact of stochastic modeling imposed on clock parameters on positioning in a multi-GNSS PPP solution. We use selected IGS stations observing GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou satellites. All analyses for the clock parameter are conducted for different types of oscillators along with the performance characteristics for each system. An important advantage of modeling the clock parameter is to stabilize the station vertical coordinate component in multi-GNSS PPP solutions.
