Organizations are increasingly confronted with critical questions and concerns posed to their legacies of irresponsibility, in other words, the decisions and actions taken by past generations of managers deemed unethical and immoral and with enduring negative social and environmental consequences in the present. However, there is limited guidance for organizations and their managers on how to deal with such legacies. The purpose of this paper is to offer directions on how organizations can approach their troubled pasts. We draw from the literature on transitional justice to develop an approach that organizations can use to deal with their legacies of irresponsibility. This paper contributes to the literature on historic corporate social (ir)responsibility and provides practical guidance for organizations to address the sins of previous generations ofmanagers. Extended kalman filter (EKF) is widely used to integrated navigation system of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS). However, non-Gaussian noise and the uncertainty of measurement noise can seriously reduce the performance of EKF, so it is difficult to obtain an optimal GNSS/INS integration solution. At present, non-Gaussian noise processing is still a difficult issue in filter research. In this paper, an adaptive and robust maximum correntropy extended kalman filter (MCEKF) method based on Cauchy kernel function is proposed to solve the above problem. Thanks to the excellent properties of Cauchy kernel function, the proposed method can effectively avoid filter faults and has better stability. However, the performance of MCEKF depends on the select of kernel bandwidth parameter, which is a difficult problem in the engineering application of MCEKF. In this paper, the switching kernel bandwidth algorithm is employed to adaptively estimate the kernel bandwidth parameter to solve the tradeoff between convergence rate and steady-state misalignment in the MCEKF algorithm under constant kernel bandwidth. Finally, the performance of the proposed algorithm is verified by two sets of vehicle-mounted precise point positioning (PPP) and SINS tightly coupled integration experiments in urban environment. The results show that compared with EKF, the proposed method can significantly improve the positioning accuracy, that is, the PPP/SINS positioning accuracy based on GE, GR and GRE system is improved by 25.1 %, 2.5 % and 17.0 % in D196 experiment, and 23.5 %, 16.5 % and 31.8 % in D107 experiment, respectively. The velocity and attitude accuracy of the two methods are similar. The velocity errors of all schemes can reach cm/s level. The roll, pitch and heading errors of navigation-grade inertial sensor are all less than 0.12 degree. The roll and pitch errors of MEMS are less than 1.0 degree, the heading error of the G, GE, GR, and GRE systems are 1.719, 1.464, 1.676, and 1.475 degree, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The analysis of the observance of the principle of non -synonymy in the words of the Qur'an in the translation of quasi -synonym words is one of the most prominent criteria for evaluating the work of translators. Among the quasi -synonym words in the divine verses are words related to the concept of sin. Care in translating these words leads to a better understanding of the high teachings of the Qur'an in the three areas of beliefs, rules and ethics. In this regard, this study tries to evaluate the translations of Mr. Moezi, Fooladvand, Ayati, Elahi Qomshei and Ms. Saffarzadeh as representatives of five methods of literal, loyal, semantic translation, interprative and free using a descriptive -analytical method combined with criticism mentioned field. The lack of sufficient attention of translators to the semantic subtlety and the distinction between these words is obvious. Paying attention to the semantic principle proposed for each word that has been described in detail in Philology books will help the translator to translate these words accurately. The results indicate that the exact meaning of these words can be expressed in short and useful words or in the form of explanations in parentheses in semantic, free and interprative methods, but due to the limitation of Persian words, literal methods and loyal are not very efficient in this regard. In this paper, we consider the generalized sine-Gordon equation ψ t x = (1 + a ∂ x 2) sin ψ and the sinh-Poisson equation u x x + u y y + σ sinh u = 0 , where a is a real parameter, and σ is a positive parameter. Under different conditions, e.g., a = 0 , a ≠ 0 , and σ > 0 , the periods of the periodic wave solutions for the above two equations are discussed. By the transformation of variables, the generalized sine-Gordon equation and sinh-Poisson equations are reduced to planar dynamical systems whose first integral includes trigonometric terms and exponential terms, respectively. This article provides information on post-pulmonary embolism syndrome (post-PE), chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease (CTEPH), and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). It explains that post-PE refers to patients who continue to experience breathing difficulties and decreased quality of life despite receiving treatment. CTEPH is a condition where patients have persistent difficulty breathing without blood clots in the pulmonary arteries, while CTEPH is the most severe form characterized by permanent obstructions and high blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries. The article discusses the prevalence, risk factors, and diagnostic tests for these conditions, as well as treatment options such as anticoagulants, surgery, endovascular therapy, and medication. Some argue that Hebrews employs Psalm 8,6a—"You made him for a little while below the angels"—to serve the divergent ends of describing Jesus' degradation and humanity's exaltation. Against this view, this article argues that Hebrews applies these words more analogously to describe a temporary inferior status below angels for both Jesus and humanity, a status Jesus has already surpassed and humanity will rise above in the future. To make this argument, this article defends that Hebrews applies Psalm 8 to both Jesus and humanity. After examining the application to Jesus, it is argued that Hebrews presents humanity as presently lower than angels, but indicates they will attain a rank above them in the future. Finally, the article claims that the word ἐλαττόω means "to diminish," not "to create at a lesser status." The study sought to analyze the translation of the Greek word "ἄφες" (forgive) as "patience" in the Farefare language of the Upper East Region of the Republic of Ghana. Using the views of respondents in the field study conducted as well the mother-tongue biblical hermeneutics methodology by Kuwornu-Adjaottor, the findings of the study maintained that the Farefare term suguru which is often used to translate "ἄφες," is inappropriate because suguru is a noun, while "ἄφες" is a verb. The study also established that the word bahɛ in Farefare means "forgive," and frequently accompanies the noun be'em (sin/wrongdoing). The cultural understanding of the Farefare is that patience is necessary before granting forgiveness. As a result, this research recommends that the Farefare translation incorporates both "patience" and "forgive" in the appropriate order (that is patience first and then forgive) to reflect the intended meaning of the text and the indigenous cultural understanding. Targeted sanctions, such as asset freezes and travel bans, are an increasingly popular response to a wide array of wrongdoing. This article considers an especially problematic aspect of contemporary sanctions law and practice that has received little attention so far, namely the imposition of sanctions on the family members of the primary target. In charting out a coherent and principled approach to such sanctions, the article makes three distinct contributions. First, it offers a comprehensive survey of law, policy and practice related to family‐member sanctions across the US, UK, EU and Australia. Secondly, it identifies the limits that international human rights law places on such sanctions, which effectively preclude automatic family‐member sanctions. Thirdly and finally, it proposes a 'profit‐based' sanctions model as an alternative to 'activity‐based' and 'status‐based' sanctions, as well as outlining its implications for the design of family‐member sanctions. This article seeks to situate Paul's Sin in Rom 7 within the context of Second Temple exegetical practices concerning sources of evil. Drawing on the work of Carol Newsom and Ishay Rosen-Zvi, the author argues that Paul's discourse on Sin in Rom 7 marks an instance of self-alienation in which the "I" distances itself from Sin which is objectified as an evil power within the self. While Sin is certainly distinguishable from the self, the author here contends that Sin is not ontologically distinct from the self. Accordingly, Sin is not an external, cosmic power but, rather, envisioned as an internal, evil entity that is inherent to and arises from the self. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Analyses of Mark 7:15 are absent from sustained discussion in studies of Jesus's use of figurative language, despite its description as a παραβολή ("parable," 7:17). Studies typically label this text a "riddle," but this is generally undefined and its relationship to other figurative devices in language is mysterious. Accordingly, I discuss some modern categories of figurative language, like metaphor, riddle, and metaphorical riddle and consider how they are related to the topic of this article. I then analyze Mark 7:15 in the light of these discussions, concluding that the category of metaphorical riddle could be helpful in interpreting the Marcan text. In the context of the metaphorical riddle, Jesus, without providing a source domain, misleads the audience into thinking that the subject of 7:15b is something physical (probably excrement), when the true meaning relates to something abstract (sin). On this reading, Jesus's metaphorical riddle implies something like, "excrement is to the body as sin is to the heart." Regardless of one's interpretation, I argue that greater clarity regarding definitions and methods would be beneficial to this conversation, which can be ad hoc and idiosyncratic. In my view, the interpretation can be improved by utilizing approaches of modern literary criticism concerning figurative language, which offers relatively coherent and stable terms by which we might continue this discussion. The debate over John Rawls's two principles of justice is ongoing. Among the many controversies, there is a hierarchal relationship within the second principle of justice. Scholars have long discussed the meaning and desirability of the lexical priority of the principle of fair equality of opportunity over the difference principle. The present article explores this topic from an unusual and underdeveloped angle. The controversy will be analyzed through the theological categories developed by the young Rawls in his work A Brief Inquiry into the Meaning of Sin and Faith. There, Rawls rejected the Pelagian heresy, according to which human beings can merit their salvation in a contractual relationship with God. Conversely, they can perform actions and deeds with implications for their eternal life by virtue of the gratuitous and undeserved intervention of God. I will show how this theological understanding became a political idea expressed precisely in the content and structure of the second principle of justice. As final remarks, I will argue that the appeal to the young Rawls's idea can be a suitable, yet unexpected, way in which the comprehensive doctrine of Christianity can support the political conception of justice expressed in Rawls's second major work, Political Liberalism. Purpose: To report the clinical pattern of surgically induced necrotizing scleritis (SINS) in a tertiary eye care center in Southern India. Methods: Retrospective analysis of all SINS cases visiting the uveitis clinic of a tertiary eye institute between January 2009 and April 2019. Results: In total, 15 patients with a median age of 65 (IQR: 52-70) years were included in the study. Male (53%) predominance was noted, and SINS was unilateral (100%) in all cases. Most (87%) of the patients developed SINS after a single surgical procedure, with a median onset period of 251 (IQR: 127-1095) days. None of these patients had any evidence of systemic association. Ocular hypertension (n = 3, 20%), and cataract (n = 5, 33%) were the most common complications. When compared with a cohort of patients with idiopathic necrotizing scleritis, the index study did not find any statistically significant difference between SINS and idiopathic scleritis. Many Judeo-Christians have seen environmental concerns as a way of renewing the contemporary relevance of the doctrine of Creation. This article argues that, set against the decline of Christianity in the Western world, modern environmentalism is a rival, not an ally, to Judeo-Christianity. While its basic thought patterns replicate five key religious motifs—the existence of the sacred, sin and repentance, prophetic warning, the wisdom of sacrifice, and expression of faith through symbolic action—these are humanistic alternatives to the same motifs in Judeo-Christianity. In 2000, David Batchelor utilized chromophobia to describe how achromaticity has been favoured among Western intelligentsia since Aristotle. In contrast to white, hues have been linked to the feminine, the dangerous and the chaotic, and they have often been perceived to be something to abandon or control. The ominous associations remain the same when hues are desired (chromophilia), but in these instances, one desires to lose oneself to the somewhat ominous realm of colour. By approaching the Hebrew Bible with Batchelor's framework, and with a view to human agency, various texts of transitions between chromaticity and achromaticity are examined (Ps 51:9; Isa 1:18; Jon 3:6; Lam 4:7–8; Num 12:10; Exod 25–31). It is argued that colours, in some cases, are abandoned and controlled and that they receive a specific evaluation depending on whether an agent voluntarily desired or involuntarily suffered a transition between chromaticity and achromaticity. In this manuscript, we explore some new stunning fractals of Julia sets by developing the escape criteria for novel type of complex function p(z) = a exp[d sin(zn)] bz + c, where n,|d|≥ 2 and a,b,c,d Ⲉ C and furnish some graphical illustrations of the generated amazing fractals, utilizing the Jungck fourstep iteration scheme equipped with s-convexity as well as four-step iterative method. Moreover, we conclude this work by examining variation in images and the impact of parameters on the deviation of dynamics, color, and appearance of fractals. The article, based on the material of world religions and new religious movements, examines the forms of representation of male and female corporeality. Gender, in turn, fixes the body and sex in a social framework and determines the initial parity of male and female, the hierarchical position of which is established not by the body itself in which a person was born, but by the actions of this body, or rather its owner. From the illustration of the Fall of Adam and Eve, which predetermined corporeality by reducing the body to desiring/sinful flesh, we observe a strict normalization of bodily practices in religious contexts. However, contemporarily offers us various cases that seem to violate established norms. In the article we turn to cases of the Hare Krishnas and Raelites, who in the realities of the 21st century practice parity of bodily principles. The masculine and feminine of given roles and statuses turn into one of many factors that can fix the Self. Or, conversely, they still remain a predetermined role in some contexts.

Recently, plasma process-induced damage (PID) has garnered significant interest in the design of thin dielectric films implemented in semiconductor devices. Silicon nitride (SiN) films, a material of interest in strain engineering, are found to suffer from PID because they are exposed to various plasmas during device manufacturing processes. Only a limited amount of experimental evidence is available at present regarding plasma-induced mechanical property changes of SiN films. In this study, we investigated the mechanical property change in SiN and SiO2 films using a cyclic nanoindentation technique. We focused on the contact stiffness (S) as the principal mechanical property parameter. Firstly, a single loading/unloading test confirmed an increase in S after Ar and He plasma exposures. Subsequently, we examined the time-dependent features of damaged SiN and SiO2 films under cyclic loading/unloading. From the cyclic test, an increase in S was seen with the number of loading/unloading cycles (N) for both SiN and SiO2 films. A larger increase in S was observed for the damaged SiN, while no significant increase was seen for the damaged SiO2 films. The observed increase in S and its time dependence are attributed to the strain developed by the created defects (e.g. interstitial species) and the reconstruction and stabilization of plasma-damaged Si–N networks with created defects, respectively. The time-dependent S analysis under cyclic loading/unloading is useful for evaluating the effects of PID on the mechanical properties of thin films. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Early in 1 John, the author portrays authentic Christian living as involving honest and ongoing acknowledgment of one’s sins, God’s forgiveness of the same, and the cleansing from all unrighteousness (1:8-9). However, later in the same letter, while seeking to distinguish his opponents from those who were the true children of God, he says: ‘No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him’ (3:6); and ‘those who have been born of God do not sin, because God’s seed abides in them; they cannot sin, because they have been born of God.’ (3:9). These latter statements stand in tension with his earlier statement which says that anyone claiming to be without sin is a liar. In one place he rejects sinless perfection, in the other he appears to assume it. In this article these apparently contradictory statements are examined and a possible resolution of the tension existing between them is suggested.

Many Christians have misconceptions about predestination. It is a complex issue that is characterized by great theological disagreement. However, it cannot be disregarded given that someone’s belief on the matter has great consequences. The African theologian Saint Augustine (AD 354–430) spoke extensively on predestination. Although the setting of the modern church is different from Augustine’s day, this article argues that the issues that Augustine confronted were not unique to his day. A comparative analysis of the literature is conducted to discover and evaluate some historical ideas. As a result, the translated work of Augustine and recent scholarly publications on this topic were consulted. This was done to identify historical opinions to assess Augustine’s influence on the theological development of the doctrine of predestination. The present article endeavors to demonstrate the influence of Augustine’s exegetical approach to the Epistle of Romans on his dogmatic pronouncements. Furthermore, it seeks to establish the polemical influence of the Pelagius controversy on Augustine’s theological views. Through a critical analysis of Augustine’s writings, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how these two factors shaped Augustine’s theological thought.

In this paper, the kinematic models of the Strapdown Inertial Navigation System (SINS) and its errors on the SE (3) group in the Earth-Centered Inertial frame (ECI) are established. On the one hand, with the ECI frame being regarded as the reference, based on the joint representation of attitude and velocity on the SE (3) group, the dynamic of the local geographic coordinate system (n-frame) and the body coordinate system (b-frame) evolve on the differentiable manifold, respectively, and the high-order expansion of the Baker–Campbell–Haussdorff equation compensates for the non-commutative motion errors stimulated by strong maneuverability. On the other hand, the kinematics of the left- and right-invariant errors of the n-frame and the b-frame on the SE (3) group are separately derived, where the errors of the b-frame completely depend on inertial sensor errors, while the errors of the n-frame rely on position errors and velocity errors. In this way, the errors brought by the inconsistency of the reference coordinate system are tackled, and a novel attitude error definition is introduced to separate and decouple the factors affecting the dynamic of the n-frame errors and the b-frame errors for better attitude estimation. Through a turntable experiment and a car-mounted field experiment, the effectiveness of the proposed kinematic models in estimating attitude has been verified, with a remarkable improvement in yaw angle accuracy in the case of large initial misalignment angles, and the models developed have better robustness compared to the traditional SE (3) group-based model. For a < 1 and any b , there is only one continuous invariant curve. For a > 1 , there exists a smooth map b = b 0 (a) such that: (a) For b < b 0 (a) , f a , b has two continuous attracting invariant curves and one continuous repelling curve; (b) For b = b 0 (a) , it has one continuous repelling invariant curve and two semi-continuous (noncontinuous) attracting invariant curves that intersect the unstable one in a zero-Lebesgue measure set of angles; (c) For b > b 0 (a) , it has one continuous attracting invariant curve. The case a = 1 is a degenerate case that is also discussed in the paper. It is interesting to note that this family is a simplified version of the smooth family G a , b (x ,) = (arctan (a x) + b sin () , + ω) for which there is numerical evidence of a nonsmooth pitchfork bifurcation. This paper argues for the coherence of penal substitutionary theories of atonement (PSA) with presentism. After summarizing both the PSA and presentism, we address two major objections to the coherence of these two doctrines working together, namely that (1) there is no reality of the future sins that are atoned for, and (2) that since the past no longer exists, there no longer exists anything for which atonement is needed. We demonstrate that these objections are easily overcome by the PSA-affirming presentist. Lastly, we further argue that PSA seems to require presentism in order for such an atonement to obtain. We prove that the maximum is attained if and only if T degenerates to a 2-gon. Let n ≥ 2 be an integer which is not a power of 2. We show that π 4 n tan (π / (2 n)) + π 2 8 n 2 sin 2 (π / (2 n)) - 1 is the minimum of δ (X T) among all n-gons and determine completely the shapes of T's which attain this minimum. They are characterized as polygonal approximations of equi-Reuleaux bodies, found and studied by Reinhardt (Jahresber. Deutsch. Math. Verein. 31, 251–270 (1922)). In particular, if n is odd, then the regular n-gon is one of the minimum shapes. When n is even, we see that regular n-gon is far from optimal. Considering the Crusades, Antioch has been an important city throughout the process. The Crusaders, who determined their final destination as Jerusalem, did not want to continue their way without taking Antioch, which they considered sacred, on the way. They besieged Antioch for about nine months and captured it on 3 June 1098 as a result of the betrayal of the non-Muslims inside. The subject of the article focuses on the motivation of the crusaders to continue the siege despite the harsh conditions of winter, hardships, hunger and poverty, epidemics and deaths. In this context, as seen in the text, the focus is on the sin-repentance equation. The Crusaders attributed the troubles they encountered during and after the siege to the multitude of their sins. Therefore, this situation brought God's wrath, and they believed that they were punished for the troubles above. To appease God's anger and obtain his mercy, they thought they should repent through various clergymen-led rituals. One of the important factors that cause the repentance process is visions. Especially the legend of the Holy Lance caused the crusaders to change their dimension. The successes that followed were attributed to their repentance, which led them to believe that God had mercy on them. While many scholars recognize the echo of Isaiah 52:5 in 1 Timothy 6:1, they limit the meaning of the echo to a warning against unfaithfulness. However, the intertextual significance is deeper than this warning alone. I argue that Paul employs metalepsis to recontextualize the theme of deliverance from Isaiah 52 to give Christian slaves the hope of a future deliverance. Hays and Wagner argue convincingly that Paul recontextualizes Isaiah 52:5 in Romans 2:24 to depict non-Christian Jews as spiritual exiles under the dominion of sin. Through metalepsis, Paul imports the theme of deliverance from Isaiah 52 so that his reproach implied God's promise of Israel's ultimate salvation. I argue that Paul uses metalepsis in a similar way when employing the same verse in 1 Timothy. In 1 Timothy 6:1, Paul uses Isaiah 52:5 to depict enslaved Christians as exiles under the dominion of earthly oppressors. By recontextualizing Isaiah's hope of deliverance from Babylonian exile, Paul's metalepsis serves as a divine promise of Christians' eschatological deliverance at Christ's return. My analysis in this paper centers on Miguel de Unamuno's multifaceted engagement (commentary, translation, poetic response) with Antero de Quental's metaphysically-inclined sonnets. Like Unamuno, I focus on the sonnets "Redenção" and "Na mão de Deus." I first demonstrate how Unamuno unsuccessfully attempts to reconcile Quental's poetic descriptions of death as liberation, and of the individual's reabsorption in death into the universal consciousness, with his agonized faith in a personal God and his New Testament-derived belief in humanity's redemption from sin and salvation by Jesus Christ. I then argue that while Unamuno may have misinterpreted Quental, his misreading was nonetheless productive in that it furnished him with an Iberian exemplar of the sentimientotrágico de la vida – though I contend that Unamuno's elevation of Quental to the status of tragic exemplar is nonetheless misplaced [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During the Medinan period of revelation, the formation and evolution process of the first Islamic society was completed. In this process, it is necessary to draw attention to the concepts of the Qur'an, which are recognized only in the Medinan Surahs, influence Islamic society from different manners and the field of meaning built by these concepts. In this study, five concepts that are effective in the field of belief, worship and law will be examined in terms of gaining Islamic identity to believers. The concept of "al-Yaumu'l-Ahir" (The Last Day) in terms of belief was emphasized in the Medinan period of the revelation as an emphasis on the need for the principles of belief to be effective in shaping one's life. In the field of worship, the concept of qard al-hasan was only mentioned in the Medinan surahs. "Qard al-hasan" is described as the debt given to Allah in the Qur'an. This definition has been the target of the criticism of the People of the Book. Another concept that will be emphasized in the article is the "Hududullah" that pointed out to remain within the limits determined by Allah in legal issues. The concept of "Jahiliyya", which expresses the understanding of life outside the boundaries drawn by Islam, is another expression studied in this paper. In the Qur'an, the previous thought structure and lifestyle, which is not based on monotheism, is described as "Jahiliyya" and the Islamic character, the world of mind and life are brought to the fore. Thus, the person is expected to be determined in both the belief and the world of faith, to stay away from the mistakes and to remain in Islamic religion by realizing the mistakes he has made. Moreover, one of the concepts that are mentioned only in Medinan surahs is the concept of sin (جناح), which is in the form of a sin to Turkish. Finally, the word jibt is mentioned in a single verse, describing everything that is worshiped other than Allah. The doctrine of universalism, which asserts that all will find salvation in the life to come, can be critiqued on the grounds that it appears to underplay the real and lasting significance of suffering and injustice in this life, potentially placing its adherents in an improper relation to suffering and sufferers. In this essay, I engage with this problem, first, through examining how Karen Kilby's critique of conceptual clarity might problematize the doctrine. I argue, however, in this essay's second part, that the conceptual clarity we might first see is not the full story of universalism. In seeking a fuller story, I approach universalism from the perspective of its practical implications, here borrowing from ideas explored by Simeon Zahl, taking up his call to attend to the concrete outworking of doctrine in human experience. Two possible 'affects' of universalism are suggested, which, in a third part, I argue might nurture in the believer a heightened sensitivity to the wrongness of death and the problem of sin. Reconstructive spectrometers, which leverage the compressive sensing technique and computational algorithm, are promising solutions for high‐performance integrated spectrometers. Among the various options for realizing reconstructive spectrometers, stratified waveguide filters (SWFs) have emerged as a particularly attractive choice due to their ultra‐compact size and high performance. However, previous demonstrations of SWFs on silicon substrates have suffered from suboptimal and non‐reproducible spectrometer performance due to the brute‐force random design approach. In this paper, applying a bio‐inspired inverse design algorithm to the system level of multiple correlated SWFs is proposed. The algorithm allows for the precise and optimized design of the SWFs in order for higher spectral resolution of each SWF and lower spectral cross‐correlations between any two SWFs, overcoming the limitations of previous methods. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated by implementing a reconstructive spectrometer on a silicon nitride (SiN) platform, which is more thermally stable and can support a wider optical range than silicon.
