This chapter calls into question the ways of creativity development as the main skill of the twenty-first century. Attention is paid to the analysis of key notions and concepts of creativity. This chapter discusses how to enhance creative thinking skills during training in higher institutions. The study presents the results gained from the literature overview. The examples of assignments aimed at creative thinking skills development during training are given. The paper investigates approaches to the construction of tasks to develop creative thinking and criteria for creativity assessment. An analysis has allowed highlighting the positive experience of different experts researched creativity, which can be implemented in future training in Ukrainian higher educational institutions. The findings of this study support the idea that heuristic tasks, creative projects, mind maps, and case study are significant assignments in the enhancement of creativity development that can be supported in the educational process and everyday life.

This paper calls into question the impact of Emergency Remote Teaching on the Development of Listening Skills during English classes in Secondary Schools of Ukraine. Attention is paid to the analysis of key notions and concepts of listening skills development in secondary schools. Thirty teachers at secondary schools took part in the research. This paper investigates resources that were used by teachers during Emergency Remote Teaching to develop the listening skills of pupils in English classes. This paper discusses the linguistic, psychological, and methodological components of listening skills development. An analysis has allowed highlighting the positive experience of web-based applications, video podcasts, and audiobooks usage, which can be implemented in future English language training in other Ukrainian secondary schools. The findings of this study support the idea that the gamification approach in combination with other activities has a positive effect on the development of listening skills during Emergency Remote Teaching at secondary schools of Ukraine.

Before we started writing this Teacher’s Book, we did a lot of research to find out more about the issues that teachers and students face and how these can be addressed in a Teacher’s Book for the 21st century. As English teachers, we know how motivating it can be to bring the real world into the classes by using authentic materials. We also know how time-consuming and difficult it can be to find authentic content that is truly engaging, at the right level, and appropriate for our students. We have selected some audio content to motivate and engage students. We have also created tasks that will supplement the educational materials.

This electronic textbook is recommended for classroom and individual work with the third-year students of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Politechnic Institute. The main goal of the publication is to develop communicative skills in English professionally-oriented speech as well as the skills in listening, reading, writing and to improve translation skills. The textbook consists of eight units, four self-assessment tests, glossary, video/audio scripts, grammar reference, appendixes which comprise authentic professional materials for teaching future biomedical engineering specialists. The electronic textbook corresponds to the requirements of the study program. The paper deals with the considering of the peculiarities in organisation of the bilateral sight translation training for future translators/interpreters. The bilateral sight translation training may be carried out as a special course or may be integrated into the curriculum. Three domains that need the sight translation are introduced. The definition to the sight translation is given. The language and psychological actions that are important for implementation of bilateral sight translation course are presented. The list of basic knowledge provided during sight translation training to future translators is considered. Two models of the sight translation training are described. The stages of the sight translation training process are highlighted. The examples of exercises that help to expand the vertical and horizontal sight line, the exercises to form deverbalization skills and increase the speed of reading and speaking are provided. The peculiarities in preparatory stage organisation and skills forming stage organisation of the bilateral sight translation training for future translators/interpreters are analyzed. The practical recommendations on the sight translation course implementation are given., Розглянуто особливості організації навчання усного двостороннього перекладу з аркуша (УДПА) майбутніх перекладачів. Вказано, що таке навчання краще проводити із використанням спеціально створеного курсу «Усний двосторонній переклад з аркуша», що дасть змогу систематизувати накопичений теоретичний матеріал і практичний досвід та сформувати у майбутніх бакалаврів-філологів високий рівень фахової компетентності перекладача в УДПА. Однак за відсутності годин для окремого курсу УДПА, навчальний матеріал може бути інтегровано до практичного курсу перекладу або усного двостороннього перекладу для навчання майбутніх бакалаврів-філологів. Здійснення УДПА в науково-технічній сфері вимагає від майбутніх перекладачів здатності виконувати як мовленнєві (аудіювання, говоріння, читання, письмо), так і психологічні (сприйняття, аналіз, синтез, відтворення) дії. Під час навчання УДПА майбутніх перекладачів варто ознайомити з основами теоретичних положень усного перекладу з аркуша, із функціональною системою усного перекладу з аркуша та семантичними аспектами усного і письмового мовлення. Описано дві моделі навчання УДПА. Відповідно до першої моделі навчання УДПА майбутніх перекладачів повинно здійснюватися у три етапи/підетапи. Друга модель містить лише два етапи (формування навичок; розвиток вмінь). Підготовчий етап містить вправи на розширення поля зору, девербалізацію та збільшення швидкості (темпу) читання і говоріння. Розглянуто та проаналізовано особливості організації підготовчого етапу й етапу формування навичок під час навчання УДПА. Надано практичні рекомендації щодо організації впровадження УДПА.

The article considers modern approaches to the teaching of interpretation to future philologists. The linguistic, socio semantic, pragmatic and communicative approaches are analysed. The advantages of interdisciplinary approach to interpretation teaching of future philologists are described. Анализируются лингвистический, социосемантический, прагматический и коммуникативный подходы к обучению. Описаны преимущества междисциплинарного подхода в обучении будущих филологов устного перевода. Даны определения инварианта, эквивалента и текста, В статті розглянуто сучасні підходи до навчання усного перекладу майбутніх філологів. Проаналізовано лінгвістичний, соціосемантичний, прагматичний та комунікативний підходи до навчання. Описано переваги міждисциплінарного підходу до навчання усного перекладу майбутніх філологів. Наведено визначення інваріанту, еквіваленту і тексту.
