Abstract

The bolted rotor is a typical rotor structure with light weight, high strength, good rigidity, flexible selection of all kinds of wheel materials, etc., which is formed by pressing and combining several sections of rotors or discs and is widely used in aero-engines and gas turbines. Aiming at blind assembly, trail assembly and inconsistent assembly tightness of bolted rotor, and the degradation and loosening of bolt tightness in service, a quantitative detection method of bolt assembly quality based on GHM multiwavelet was proposed. Using the GHM multiwavelet with excellent characteristics such as symmetry, compactness, orthogonality, vanishing moment and high order vanishing moment, feature extraction of the bolted rotor assembly tightness states was performed. The quantitative detection index of assembly quality was defined by the relative energy band distribution based on multiwavelet. The experimental verification shows that the proposed method can accurately identify six kinds of bolt states from tightness to looseness.

Abstract

The electrification revolution in automobile industry and others demands annual production capacity of batteries at least on the order of 102 gigawatts hours, which presents a twofold challenge to supply of key materials such as cobalt and nickel and to recycling when the batteries retire. Pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical recycling are currently used in industry but suffer from complexity, high costs, and secondary pollution. Here we report a direct-recycling method in molten salts (MSDR) that is environmentally benign and value-creating based on a techno-economic analysis using real-world data and price information. We also experimentally demonstrate the feasibility of MSDR by upcycling a low-nickel polycrystalline LiNi0.5Mn0.3Co0.2O2 (NMC) cathode material that is widely used in early-year electric vehicles into Ni-rich (Ni > 65%) single-crystal NMCs with increased energy-density (>10% increase) and outstanding electrochemical performance (>94% capacity retention after 500 cycles in pouch-type full cells). This work opens up new opportunities for closed-loop recycling of electric vehicle batteries and manufacturing of next-generation NMC cathode materials.

33. Anion Modulation: Enabling Highly Conductive Stable Polymer Electrolytes for Solid‐State Li‐Metal Batteries.

Abstract

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) are promising ionic conductors for developing high‐specific‐energy solid‐state lithium metal batteries. However, developing SPEs with both high ionic conductivity and interfacial compatibility remains a challenge. Here, we propose a design concept of an anion‐modulated polymer electrolyte (termed AMPE) for high‐voltage Li metal batteries. Specifically, we design the AMPE by incorporating high‐voltage‐resistant and high charge density units with an anion receptor unit. The high‐voltage‐resistant and high charge density segments contribute to achieving a decent voltage tolerance of the polymer chains and ensure sufficient carrier ions. The anion receptor, represented by a boron‐containing molecule, promotes the generation of free Li+ by dissociating anion‐cation pairs. More importantly, the strong interaction between the electron‐deficient B and the TFSI− in the matrix promotes the anion reduction to form a stable anion‐derived mosaic‐like solid electrolyte interphase on the Li‐metal anode. As a result, the AMPE exhibits a high ionic conductivity of 3.80×10−4 S cm−1 and effectively suppresses lithium dendrites, enabling an all‐solid‐state Li|AMPE|LiCoO2 cell to achieve a cycle life of 700 cycles at an operating voltage of 4.40 V. Abstract

Structural health monitoring obtains data reflecting the service status of grid structures through sensors. One of the issues to consider in optimal sensor placement is how to obtain as much information as possible with a limited number of sensors. In this paper, a sensor placement method is proposed based on damage sensitivity and correlation analysis, which is based on strain energy calculation and is suitable for grid structures. Specifically, with the sensor locations as optimization variables, a mathematical optimization model is established by considering the damage sensitivity and redundancy of the monitoring scheme, and a genetic algorithm is employed for computation. Two examples, including a lattice shell and a flat grid, are provided to illustrate the method, followed by a discussion of the sensitivity of parameters such as stiffness reduction degree and load form. The results indicate that the redundancy of the optimized schemes for the two examples decreased by approximately 80% and 30%, respectively. The proposed method ensures a certain degree of damage sensitivity while significantly reducing redundancy, demonstrating its applicability and robustness in sensor placement for grid structures. Abstract

Solid‐state lithium‐metal batteries are considered as one of the most promising candidates for next‐generation energy storage devices with high energy density and enhanced safety. Great efforts have been made to design solid‐state electrolytes with enhanced ionic conductivity and to protect the electrochemical interface of the lithium anode. However, the obstruction of ionic‐electronic transport within the cathode remains as another key challenge that needs to be addressed for the practical application of solid‐state batteries. Here, we prepared organic mixed ionic‐electronic conductors (OMIECs) by in‐situ co‐polymerization of three organic monomers (boron‐type crosslinker, ionic liquid, and sulfolene) in the network of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene)/poly(4‐styrenesulfonate). The as‐prepared OMIECs show an electronic conductivity up to 33.6 S cm−1 and ionic conductivity of 1.7×10−4 S cm−1 at 30 °C, and also binder functionality, providing a combined path for Li+/e− transport in cathodes and maintaining mechanical/(electro−)chemical stability. As a result, solid‐state cathodes composed of 90.0 wt % active materials and only 10.0 wt % OMIECs display exceptional electrochemical characteristics at 30 °C, including high C‐rate capabilities and prolonged cycle life. This novel design of all‐in‐one OMIECs for carbon‐free cathodes demonstrates a promising strategy for developing multifunctional additives for high‐performance solid‐state batteries.
