The article explores knowledge graphs, a knowledge base that uses a graph-structured data model or topology to integrate data. The author suggests the importance of understanding the historical context and background of one's research area, noting that students and junior researchers are not completely aware of the source of ideas, concepts and techniques they command. Other topics discussed include the automation of reasoning, the history of graphical representations of knowledge, and how the work described in the article was funded by the Millennium Science Initiative Program.
