This study aims to see whether the electrical lighting installation at the Regional Drinking Water Company (Indonesian, abbreviated as PDAM) of Tomohon City follows the General Requirements for Electrical Installations (abbreviated as PUIL) or vice versa. Using the analysis approach, direct observation was performed at the research site, and after performing the study, it was discovered that many electrical lighting installation requirements did not satisfy PUIL. Following the measurements and calculations, it was found that none of the lighting in building A met PUIL standards, while for building B, there was only 1 room whose lighting met PUIL standards. Furthermore, there were several rooms where the lights were not installed. Of course, this can affect the daily activities in the room. From the results of the study, it is inevitable that the electrical lighting installation in the PDAM building in Tomohon City must be repaired immediately and should follow the applicable PUIL.

Female genital schistosomiasis (FGS) and male genital schistosomiasis (MGS) are gender-specific manifestations of urogenital schistosomiasis. Morbidity is a consequence of prolonged inflammation in the human genital tract caused by the entrapped eggs of the waterborne parasite, Schistosoma (S.) haematobium. Both diseases affect the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) of millions of people globally, especially in sub-Sahara Africa (SSA). Awareness and knowledge of these diseases is largely absent among affected communities and healthcare workers in endemic countries. Accurate burden of FGS and MGS disease estimates, single and combined, are absent, mostly due to the absence of standardized methods for individual or population-based screening and diagnosis. In addition, there are disparities in country-specific FGS and MGS knowledge, research and implementation approaches, and diagnosis and treatment. There are currently no WHO guidelines to inform practice. The BILGENSA (Genital Bilharzia in Southern Africa) Research Network aimed to create a collaborative multidisciplinary network to advance clinical research of FGS and MGS across Southern African endemic countries. The workshop was held in Lusaka, Zambia over two days in November 2022. Over 150 researchers and stakeholders from different schistosomiasis endemic settings attended. Attendees identified challenges and research priorities around FGS and MGS from their respective countries. Key research themes identified across settings included: 1) To increase the knowledge about the local burden of FGS and MGS; 2) To raise awareness among local communities and healthcare workers; 3) To develop effective and scalable guidelines for disease diagnosis and management; 4) To understand the effect of treatment interventions on disease progression, and 5) To integrate FGS and MGS within other existing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. In its first meeting, the BILGENSA Network set forth a common research agenda across S. haematobium endemic countries for the control of FGS and MGS.

This research is classroom action research that aims to improve the learning process by applying the jigsaw-type cooperative learning model to improve Basic Electrical learning outcomes for Class X TITL students at SMK Negeri 2 Bitung, carried out in March 2021. Techniques and data collection tools in this research used descriptive statistical analysis of the data in student test results from documents and a list of scores. This study uses two stages of the cycle where the first cycle consists of IV meetings and the second cycle consists of IV meetings. Cycle I students achieve 55% incomplete and 45% complete learning outcomes. Cycle II students achieve 0% incomplete and 100% complete learning outcomes. The increase in learning outcomes was seen in the second cycle, namely the results of student learning achievement of 100% complete from the number of 20 students. Thus, learning using the jigsaw-type cooperative learning model can improve the learning outcomes of class X TITL students at SMK Negeri 2 Bitung.

Sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas) are highly profitable, contribute to food security, and their leaves rich in phytonutrients. This study examined the optimal leaf harvesting stage by harvesting newly formed leaves (leaves 1 to 5) to achieve the highest concentration of carotenoids, phenolic compounds, antioxidant properties and mineral content. Leaves of five purple-fleshed sweet potato genotypes ‘2019-11-2’ and ‘2019-1-1’, ‘Purple-purple’, and from the USA ‘08-21P’ and ‘16-283P’ were harvested based on tuber life cycle [vegetative 8 weeks after planting (VS-8WAP), tuber initiation (TIS-12WAP), and tuber maturation phases (TMS-16WAP)]. At the 8WAP stage, leaves of genotype ‘2019-11-2’ had the highest concentrations of cyanidin-caffeoyl-sophoroside-glucoside (17.64 mg/kg), cyanidin-caffeoyl-feruloyl-sophoroside-glucoside (41.51 mg/kg), peonidin-caffeoyl-hydroxybenzoyl-sophoriside-glucoside (45.25 mg/kg), and peonidin caffeoyl-feruloyl-sophoriside-glucoside (24.47 mg/kg), as well as antioxidant scavenging activity. In contrast, ‘Purple-purple’ harvested at TIS-12WAP showed the highest concentration of caffeoylquinic acid derivatives. Zeaxanthin, lutein, all trans-β-carotene, and cis-β-carotene are the most abundant carotenoids in genotype ‘08-21P’ at VS-8WAP. As a result, local genotypes ‘2019-11-2’ harvested at 8WAP and ‘Purple-purple’ harvested at 12WAP are potential sources of anthocyanins and caffeoylquinic acid derivatives. Conversely, USA’s genotype ‘08-21P’ at the VS-8WAP stage is an excellent source of carotenoids. The leaves of USA’s ‘08-21P’ genotype and the local ‘2019-11-2’ genotype at TMS-16WAP exhibited the highest content of Fe and Mn, respectively. The study identified the optimal leaf stage for consumption of leaves and for use as a functional ingredient.

The development of science and technology has positively impacted human life, which has now reached the age of electric voice commands. An intelligent home management system allows humans to operate their house's electrical gadgets, such as lighting, using simple voice commands, eliminating the need to move around to switch on or off equipment. When users of indoor lighting use sound waves to operate the system or turn on the lights, the sound sensor sends an input signal to the microcontroller, which is then processed with the microcontroller's output in the form of a voltage to turn on the load. The system will function when the FC-04 sound sensor receives sound input (sound code). The FC-04 sound sensor can only provide a digital output signal with a value of 1 and 0 in the form of a clap, which is then accumulated on Arduino with a value above 400 million by the program uploaded to be used as a 5-volt output to turn on/off the lights. This is because when turning on the lights from a certain distance, several factors can affect it, including setting the sound sensor's sensitivity and noise levels in the surrounding area.

On Earth, there are several natural disasters, many ask the question of what is happening. The Earth is suffering from the harms of global climate change. The DRC, in its Southwestern part, is vulnerable to this phenomenon. The main cause is the presence of cement plants that produce Portland cement, by heating the limestone to about 1450°C. At this process temperature, limestone releases CO₂ which is among the very harmful greenhouse gases. It is for this reason that a study of an ecological cement with 75% clinker and 25% basalt was conducted. The resistance of this composite cement is well.

This study aimed to estimate the incidence and risk factors for Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) diarrhea. This was a prospective cohort study of children recruited in a household census. Children were enrolled if they were 36 months or below. A total of 6828 children were followed up passively for 12 months to detect episodes of ETEC diarrhea. Diarrheal stool samples were tested for ETEC using colony polymerase chain reaction (cPCR). Among the 6828 eligible children enrolled, a total of 1110 presented with at least one episode of diarrhea. The overall incidence of ETEC diarrhea was estimated as 2.47 (95% confidence interval (CI): 2.10–2.92) episodes per 100 child years. Children who were HIV-positive (adjusted Hazard ratio (aHR) = 2.14, 95% CI: 1.14 to 3.99; p = 0.017) and those whose source of drinking water was public tap/borehole/well (aHR = 2.45, 95% CI: 1.48 to 4.06; p < 0.002) were at increased risk of ETEC diarrhea. This study found that children whose mothers have at least senior secondary school education (aHR = 0.49, 95% CI: 0.29 to 0.83; p = 0.008) were at decreased risk of ETEC diarrhea. Our study emphasizes the need for integrated public health strategies focusing on water supply improvement, healthcare for persons living with HIV, and maternal education.

Purple sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas (L.) genotype) in Southern Africa have a phytonutritional composition and antioxidant properties that can increase incomes and improve nutrition. This study compared the phytonutrient composition and antioxidant properties of four purple-colour sweet potato genotypes (local Purple-purple, ‘2019-1-1’, and USA genotypes, ‘08-21P’ and ‘16-283P’). These purple sweet potato genotypes were characterised by UPLC/QTOF/MS and 16 phenolic compounds were identified. Purple-purple (very dark purple) showed the highest concentration of cyanidins and peonidin derivatives. Chlorogenic acid derivatives were highest in the genotype ‘16-283P’. ‘Puple-purple’ and ‘16-283P’ displayed the strongest antioxidant power and scavenging activities. Diaffeoylquinic acid isomer 1 was identified as the marker candidate for distinguishing the four purple sweet potato genotypes. Southern Africa’s highest-protein sweet potato genotypes are Purple-purple (28.81 g/100 g) and ‘08-21 P’ (24.31 g/100 g). A 13.65 g portion of ‘2019-1-1′ would meet the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for iron for men, while 25.59 g would meet the RDA for children, and 30.72 g would meet the RDA for women. The sweet potato root of genotype ‘2019-1-1′ provides 31.43 g of Zn per day for children and 22.86 g for adults. The roots of local cultivar Purple-purple can be used as functional food ingredients.

Due to spoilage microflora and browning, minimally processed fresh-cut fruits have a short shelf life, and over the years, studies have shown the potential of using edible coatings to extend the shelf life and improve the safety of fresh-cut fruits. Recently, there has been a rise in research on the incorporation of probiotics in edible coatings due to the bespoke health and biopreservation benefits they impart. Therefore, in this study, lactobacillus strains (Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 75 and Bifidobacterium longum) were incorporated into a xanthan edible coating to enhance color retention, sensory properties, antioxidant retention (ascorbic acid, carotenoids, total phenols), and antioxidant activity (FRAP antioxidant power, ABTS scavenger activity) of fresh-cut cantaloupes and honeydew cucumis melo L. melons during cold storage at 5 C and 85% RH for five days. The edible coating was prepared by mixing 0.5% xanthan gum, 1% glycerol, and 2% citric acid solution with L. plantarum 75 (LAB 75) and Bifidobacterium longum bacteria separately, and the final lab count for each strain was made to be 8.0 log CFU/mL. Stable probiotic coatings with ζ-potential of between −39.7 and −51.4 mV and a PdI of 1 were developed, and the incorporation of the probiotic bacteria into the coating was justified using FTIR analysis. The probiotic coatings showed a typical pseudoplastic behavior, in which the viscosity curves fall as the shear rate increases. Thermal stability analysis showed a continuous and multi-step weight reduction in this work, illustrating how the edible coating components interact. The survival of both Lactobacillus strains was recorded on day 5. Both freshly cut melons coated with xanthan and loaded with Lactobacillus strains retained a sufficient quantity of probiotics at the end of storage, while L. plantarum 75 (7 log CFU/g for cantaloupe and 8 log CFU/g for honeydew) retained the highest viability compared to B. longum (6 log CFU/g for cantaloupe and 7 log CFU/g for honeydew). In comparison to the coated and uncoated control samples, the inclusion of L. plantarum 75 in xanthan coatings significantly retained the color properties, pigments (total chlorophyll and carotenoids), ascorbic acid, total phenols, and antioxidant activity (FRAP, DPPH, and ABTS). The overall acceptability of fresh cuts of cantaloupe and honeydew melons coated with xanthan gum loaded with L. plantarum 75 was higher than that of other treatments. Thus, xanthan gum loaded with L. plantarum 75 coating is most suitable for reducing postharvest losses in fresh cuts of honeydew melons and cantaloupe, which will help preserve antioxidant and bioactive properties. The xanthan gum loaded with L. plantarum 75 coatings exhibited the highest preservation impact; therefore, it can be recommended for the fresh-cut industry.

Abstract To facilitate the quality assessment of wheat cultivars, diverse imaging tools and techniques have been applied in order to omit the expert decision, which can cause failure in the identification of the wheat cultivar's label and its quality simultaneously. To minimize the risks caused by the expert's decision, a promising framework for identification is greatly required to more effectively assess wheat type. Therefore, to be beneficial to this association, two methods have been developed by performing traditional and modern feature extraction algorithms on visible light (VL), visible near‐infrared (VNIR) and short‐wave infrared (SWIR) imaging as well as a fusion of these imaging systems. The proposed systems are called the bag of word (BoW) framework and convolutional neural networks (CNN) framework. With regard to wheat cultivar detection, the consensus rule has been established based on decisions predicted by CNN and BoW frameworks. The accuracy results obtained by consensus rule indicate that we have achieved 99.94% and 68.94% in case of CNN framework and BoW framework, respectively. Experimental results suggest that BoW features are not suitable to represent and match texture patterns such as repeated wheat kernels in an image, whereas CNN features always outperform handcrafted elements and properties for all datasets.

Summary: Co‐digestion of cantaloupe (C) melon fresh cuts (FC) coated with probiotics [Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 75/xanthan gum with Natal plum (NP)] or beetroot leaves (BL) was evaluated to determine their bioaccessibility of individual anthocyanins (cyanidin‐3‐glucoside, cyanidin‐3‐O‐sambubioside) and carotenoids (lutein, trans‐β‐carotene and cis‐β‐carotene). Co‐digestion of probiotic‐coated C‐melon‐FC with NP increased the percentage (%) bioaccessibility of cyanidin‐3‐glucoside (11.18%) and cyanidin‐3‐O‐sambubioside (8.89%) compared to single digestion of Natal plum. Bioaccessibility of lutein (18.2%), trans‐β‐carotene (36.92%) and cis‐β‐carotene (16.74%) increased when co‐digestion of probiotic‐coated C‐melon‐FC with BL compared to the single digestion of uncoated C‐melon. Co‐digestion of C‐melon‐FC‐L75 with BL showed the highest antioxidant activity. L. plantarum had the highest LAB survival at the intestinal phase (6.01–6.26 Log CFU mL−1) during single and co‐digestion showing probiotic potential. C‐melon‐FC‐L75, Natal plum and beetroot leaves could be recommended as functional ingredients in meal preparation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bioactive compounds in red fruits, such as strawberries, are vulnerable to digestion, and encapsulation has become an alternative for their protection. This study aims at encapsulating strawberry juice (SJ) by freeze-drying with pea protein and okra mucilage (SJPO), pea protein and psyllium mucilage (SJPP), and pea protein, psyllium mucilage, and okra mucilage (SJPPO) and investigating the in vitro release. The highest encapsulation efficiency was observed in capsule SJPPO (95.38%) and the lowest efficiency in SJPO (82.45%). Scanning electron microscopy revealed an amorphous glassy structure for the structure of the strawberry microcapsules, and X-ray diffraction confirmed that observation. However, X-ray diffraction further showed that SJPPO was crystalline, indicating a tighter crosslinking density than the other microcapsules. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy showed peaks at 3390 and 1650 cm−1, confirming the presence of polyphenols and polysaccharides in the strawberry microcapsules. Thermal stability was higher for SJPPO, and the observed thermal transitions were due to the bonds formed between the polymers and polyphenols. Pelargonidin 3-glucoside, cyanidin 3-glucoside, cyanidin, delphinidin, malvidin 3-glucoside, ellagic acid, chlorogenic acid, catechin, and kaempferol were identified in the strawberry microcapsules. Digestion affected the compounds’ content; the bioaccessibility for SJ was 39.26% and 45.43% for TPC and TAC, respectively. However, encapsulation improved the bioaccessibility of both TPC (SJPP, 51.54%; SJPO, 48.52%; and SJPPO, 54.39%) and TAC (SJPP, 61.08%; SJPO, 55.03%; and SJPPO, 71.93%). Thus, encapsulating pea protein isolate, psyllium mucilage, and okra mucilage is an effective method to facilitate targeted release and preserve the biological activities of fruits.

Microgreens are increasingly valued by consumers for their phytonutritional benefits. There is limited information to growers on the influence of growth media and seed density on antioxidant properties of Brassica microgreens. Therefore, the study was conducted to determine the effect of seedling media (Hygromix, Promix, and TS1) and seed density (4, 8, and 12 seeds per seed cavity) on morphological parameters, yield, color, antioxidant components, and their activities in radish (Raphanus sativus), cabbage (Brassica oleracea), and rocket (Eruca sativa) microgreens. Fourteen days after seeding, Promix at a seed density of 12 per cavity improved yield of radish, cabbage, and rocket microgreens. Irrespective of the seed density, all three Brassica microgreens grown in TS1 had higher leaf nitrogen, phosphorus, and calcium content. Interaction effects of Hygromix x seed densities were more pronounced on the antioxidant properties (DPPH and FRAP). These differences could be due to the physical properties of growth medium. Vitamin C and total glucosinolate were improved on Brassica microgreens grown in Hygromix at a seed density of 4 per cavity. Twelve seeds per cavity in Promix growth medium improved Brassica microgreens yield, whereas phytochemicals were most likely improved by growing media, Hygromix followed by TS1 and mineral content improved in TS1 followed by Hygromix at low seed density of 4 per cavity.

The need for natural and artificial lighting is a supporting component in daily human activities outside and inside buildings. For lighting to be carried out properly, it must meet the requirements stated in SNI and Minister of Health Regulation No. 70 of 2016 concerning Standard Requirements for Light Intensity. One of the goals of lighting in a building is to create sufficient lighting and reduce the risk of accidents. Referring to the description, the author is interested in understanding and researching further the existing lighting standards in the UNIMA Workshop building. In evaluating, the authors obtain research data by conducting case studies in which data is collected, processed, compared and analyzed. The results showed that the light intensity in the UNIMA Workshop room had an average of 144.2 lux and in the work area of 191.06 lux.

COVID-19 is one of the most deadly diseases to have stricken us in recent decades. In the fight against this disease, governments and stakeholders require all the assistance they can get from various systems, including digital health interventions. Digital health technologies are supporting the tracking of the COVID-19 outbreak, diagnosing patients, expediting the process of finding potential medicines and vaccines, and disinfecting the environment, The establishment of electronic medical and health records, computerized clinical decision support systems, telemedicine, and mobile health have shown the potential to strengthen the healthcare system. Recently, these technologies have aided the health sector in a variety of ways, including prevention, early diagnosis, treatment adherence, medication safety, care coordination, documentation, data management, outbreak tracking, and pandemic surveillance. On the other hand, implementation of such technologies has questions of cost, compatibility with existing systems, disruption in patient-provider interactions, and sustainability, calling for more evidence on clinical utility and economic evaluations to help shape the next generation of healthcare. This paper argues how digital health interventions assist in the fight against COVID-19 and their opportunities, implications, and limitations.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs as a result of a severe head injury caused by an external force during a vehicle accident, fall, domestic violence, or explosion. Clinically, TBI is evaluated and classified clinically according to the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), associated with Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). However, there are many limitations associated with GCS; therefore, the aim of this review is to perform a systematic meta-synthesis that evaluates the various characteristics of TBI markers. Most especially, S100 calcium-binding protein B (S100B) and Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP). Methods: To achieve this revised review of S100B and GFAP roles in human TBI, an electronic literature search was carried out among articles published in English from previous years up to December 2021. The review included 103 studies and was retrieved from PubMed, Google Scholar, PMC, BMC and Scopus, using the keywords ''traumatic brain injury'' and ''neurobiomarkers''. And ''S100B and GFAP proteins''. Results: & Conclusion: This study demonstrates that S100B and GFAP have a high sensitivity for intracranial injuries and remain unchanged by external factors such as temperature, freeze-thaw cycles, and hemolysis. Moreover, both S100B and GFAP are specific to the brain. Hence a combination of the two proteins could improve the outcome of TBI diagnosis. However, the clinical test value and specific mechanisms of S100B and GFAP to predict TBI requires further investigation.

The background of this research is because the learning outcomes of Electric Motors at SMKN 2 Ternate are not maximized. The hypothesis is that if a problem-based learning method is applied, it can improve learning outcomes in electric motor lessons in class XI students of SMKN 2 Ternate. This study uses two research methods, namely quantitative and descriptive qualitative research. It collects data in this study through observation of test questions to determine learning outcomes. The test result data is in pre-test and post-test scores to determine student learning outcomes. This research includes classroom action research which is carried out to improve electric motor learning and increase student participation in learning. The results of observer observations that have been carried out on students from the first cycle to the second cycle are an increase in each cycle; namely, the average of the first cycle is 61.69. Then the results increased in the second cycle to 72.78, with 31 students in class XI TITL 2 SMKN 2 Ternate. That means classroom action research that uses problem-based learning methods on Electric Motor subjects in class XI TITL 2 can improve student learning outcomes.

Objectives: To characterize high-risk HPV types associated with cervical precancerous lesions in women living in Yaounde, Cameroon, and to determine their distribution with HIV status. Methods: Women with abnormal pap smears recorded from February 2015 to May 2019 at Saint Martin de Porres' Health Centre, Yaounde, Cameroon, were recruited in this study after obtaining informed consent. Pap smears were collected and re-examined. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) serology was determined. HPV16, 18, 33, and 45 were assessed using standard PCR. Results: All included participants (370) were HPV-positive and had either low grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (67.03%) or high grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (31.35%). They were subdivided into HIV-positive (N =102) and HIV-negative (N =268). In the HIV-negative subgroup, we observed 66.04% HPV16-positve, 41.79% HPV18-positve, 21.27% HPV33-positve and 8.21% HPV45-positve. In the HIV-positive subgroup, we observed 22.55% HPV16-positve, 5.88% HPV18-positve, 75.49% HPV33-positve, and 49.02% HPV45-positve. Married HIV-positive participants (47.14 ± 1.19) were older than both their single counterparts (34.94±1.22, P = 0.0008) and HIV-negative participants (41.43 ± 0.79, P = 0.0001). Single HIV-positive women reported higher numbers of miscarriages (P = 0.0023), and had later first sexual intercourse than HIV-negative (P = 0.0079) women. Conclusion: Our study suggested differential expressions in high-risk HPV types with HIV status and cervical precancerous lesions and warrants more extensive studies.

Background: Due to the late diagnosis, resulting partly from the absence of national screening programs, Cervical cancer is a public health concern for women in Sub-Saharan Africa, where 34 over 100,000 are diagnosed with cervical cancer and 23 over 100,000 die yearly. We evaluated the knowledge and practices of the female population towards the prevention of cervical cancer in the city of Bafoussam, West Cameroon, considering that poor awareness about the disease and its prevention drives its progression in Africa. Methods: 228 women were recruited during a cross-sectional study with simple random selection of participants in two District Health Centres in Bafoussam from February to August 2017. They were administered a questionnaire aimed at asserting their knowledge about cervical cancer, risk factors and prevention. Subsequently, cervicovaginal smears were screened and gynaecological signs were assessed. Data analysis was done using Epi info version 7.2.2.6. with Chi 2 test application.Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: The most represented age group was [25-35] (50.88%). Only 89 participants (39.04%) had heard about cervical cancer, 63 (27.63%) had heard about risk factors with only 13 (5.70%) able to name at least one risk factor. Moreover, 72 participants (31.58%) had heard about cervical screening test, 48 (21.05%) were aware about the existence of means of prevention, and only 6 (2.63%) had heard about human papillomavirus (HPV) relationship to cervical cancer or HPV vaccine. An incidence of 07.63% was obtained. The most common reason reported for not attending cervical cancer screening was ignorance (68.92%). Conclusions: Our data suggest that there is a real need for raising the awareness about cervical cancer and its prevention in the western region of Cameroon.

Abstract Background The COVID-19 pandemic has been associated with significant psychological and social distress worldwide. We investigated fear and depression among adults in Cameroon during different phases of the COVID-19 outbreak. Methods An online survey was conducted in Cameroon from June–December 2020 using a structured questionnaire. Socio-demographic data and information regarding COVID-19 history were obtained. Fear and depressive symptoms were assessed using the Fear of COVID-19 score (FCV-19S) and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), respectively. Responses were clustered in weeks to better appreciate their evolution over time. Results Overall, 7381 responses from all ten regions of Cameroon were analysed (median age: 30 years, 73.3% male). The prevalence of depression (PHQ-9 score ≥ 10) was 8.4%, and that of high fear of COVID-19 (FCV-19S scores ≥19) was 57.4%. These rates were similar across genders, age-groups, and region of residence. While mean weekly PHQ-9 scores remained fairly stable throughout the study period (range: 2.53–3.21; p = 0.101), mean FCV-19S scores were highest during the early weeks but decreased significantly thereafter (from 20.31 to 18.34; p

BackgroundCryptococcal meningitis (CM) is a leading cause of adult meningitis in countries with a high burden of HIV. It has remained a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in Africa despite the extensive rollout of HIV antiretroviral therapy (ART). This study aimed to systematically synthesize the evidence on the prevalence of CM among people living with HIV (PLWH) and its predictors of mortality among adults who are on induction antifungal therapy in Africa.MethodsPubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, and Google Scholar were searched for randomized clinical trials or observational studies published in Africa from 1995 to April 2021. Pooled prevalence of CM among PLWH was calculated using R-studio Version 1.4.1717 software and the data extracted from eligible studies were pooled as percentage with a 95% confidence interval (CI). Predictors of mortality among adults on induction antifungal therapy were synthesized narratively.ResultsOut of 364 studies identified, 17 eligible articles were included in the analysis. The prevalence of CM among PLWH in Africa was 5.11% (95% CI 2.71–9.43%; participants = 10,813; studies = 9; I2 = 97%). In the subgroup analysis, the prevalence was 12.9% (95% CI 4.883–30.0; participants = 533; studies = 3; I2 = 63%) in the years 1995–2010 and 3.18% (95% CI 1.54–6.45; participants = 10,280; studies = 6; I2 = 98%) in the years 2011–2021, with the prevalence significantly decreased by 51% (p = 0.02). Predictors of mortality were fluconazole monotherapy, focal neurological signs, low Glasgow coma scale, and delayed diagnosis of CM at varied timepoint.ConclusionPrevalence of CM has significantly decreased from 1996–2010 to 2011–2021 among PLWH on induction therapy in Africa. Fluconazole monotherapy, focal neurological symptoms, diastolic blood pressure < 60 mmHg, and concurrent tuberculosis coinfection were significant predictors of mortality at 2- and 10-weeks timepoints. CM remains a major concern among PLWH despite increases in ART coverage. Improved access to effective antifungal therapies is needed in Africa for timely initiation of combination induction therapy and better treatment outcomes of PLWH.Systematic review registration[https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?RecordID=254113], identifier [CRD42021254113].

The tumor microenvironment fuels tumorigenesis and induces the development of resistance to anticancer drugs. A growing number of reports support that the tumor microenvironment mediates these deleterious effects partly by overexpressing insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). IGF-1 is known for its role to support cancer progression and metastasis through the promotion of neovascularization in transforming tissues, and the promotion of the proliferation, maintenance and migration of malignant cells. Anti-IGF therapies showed potent anticancer effects and the ability to suppress cancer resistance to various chemotherapy drugs in in vivo and in vitro preclinical studies. However, high toxicity and resistance to these agents are increasingly being reported in clinical trials. We review data supporting the notion that tumor microenvironment mediates tumorigenesis partly through IGF-1 signaling pathway. We also discuss the therapeutic potential of IGF-1 receptor targeting, with special emphasis on the ability of IGF-R silencing to overcome chemotherapy drug resistance, as well as the challenges for clinical use of anti-IGF-1R therapies.

This study investigated the effects of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 75 (LAB 75) fermentation at 37 °C for 48 h on the pH, total soluble solids (TSS), colour, total titratable acidity (TTA), carotenoids, and bioactivities of cowpea leaf smoothies from three cultivars (VOP 1, VOP 3, and VOP 4). Fermentation reduced the pH from 6.57 to 5.05 after 48 h. The TTA increased with the fermentation period, whilst the TSS reduced. Fermentation of the smoothies resulted in the least colour changes (∆E) in VOP 1 after 48 h. Fermentation of cowpea smoothies (VOP 1, VOP 3, and VOP 4) improved the antioxidant capacity (FRAP, DPPH, and ABTS), which was attributed to the increase in total phenolic compounds and carotenoid constituents in all of the fermented cowpea smoothies. VOP 1 was further selected for analysis due to its high phenolic content and antioxidant activity. The VOP 1 smoothie fermented for 24 h showed the lowest reduction in TPC (11%) and had the highest antioxidant (FRAP, DPPH, and ABTS) activity. Ltp. plantarum 75 was viable and survived the harsh conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, and, hence, could be used as a probiotic. VOP 1 intestinal digesta showed significantly higher glucose uptake relative to the undigested and the gastric digesta, while the gastric phase had higher levels of α-amylase and α-glucosidase compared to the undigested samples.

Teknologi rekayasa di bidang robotika untuk era sekarang bukan lagi hal yang baru terutama di dunia pendidikan tinggi, ditandai dengan adanya kontes robot Indonesia yang rutin diadakan setiap tahunnya oleh pusat prestasi nasional. yang menjadi peserta pada ajang ini adalah kelompok mahasiswa dari semua instansi Pendidikan tinggi yang tersebar di seluruh Indonesia. Perkembangan teknologi robotika Sekarang ini semakin cepat sehingga memacu individu maupun kelompok mahasiswa untuk berlomba-lomba melakukan penelitian dan pengembangan di bidang robotik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sistem gerak robot berkaki enam atau yang sering disebut hexapod. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian model addie yang terdiri dari lima tahapan yaitu tahapan analyze untuk menganalisis kebutuhan pengembangan sistem gerak robot dan analisis kebutuhan alat dan bahan yang akan digunakan. Tahapan design untuk merancang struktur mekanik dari robot baik dari segi hardware maupun dari segi software robot, tahapan development untuk mengembangkan sistem gerak robot berkaki enam agar lebih stabil dan lebih efisien dalam bergerak, tahap implementasi merupakan tahap uji coba sistem gerak robot yang telah dikembangkan, dan tahap evaluation merupakan tahap terakhir dari penelitian pengembangan ini pada tahap ini evaluasi dilakukan untuk memastikan sistem gerak robot layak digunakan.
