Purpose: This study explored endurance athletes' and coaches' views on recovery strategies, focusing on their use across competition levels, perceived importance and effectiveness, and common barriers. Methods: Endurance athletes (26.6% international, 35.7% national, 28.7% regional, and 9.1% other levels; mean experience 10.04 [7.84] y, n = 143) and coaches (mean experience 17.45 [12.44] y, n = 20) completed an online survey on frequency of usage, perceived importance, effectiveness, and common barriers of 25 recovery strategies. Data were coded and analyzed thematically. A Fisher exact test (P <.05) was conducted on 5-point Likert-scale responses. Results: Predominant strategies among athletes were hydration, hot showers, and carbohydrate (mean scores 4.62 [0.60], 4.32 [0.82], and 4.17 [0.87]). Only antioxidants showed significant variation in use across levels (P =.033). Coaches favored warm-down/cooling (4.56 [0.62]), hydration (4.41 [0.80]), and extra protein (4.12 [0.70]). Both groups ranked hydration as most important and effective. Athletes ranked extra protein and warm-down/cooling second and third, while coaches considered extra sleep/naps, warm-down/cooling, and extra protein equally important. Barriers of both populations included insufficient time (14.41%), limited knowledge (13.72%), lack of resources (12.63%), and skepticism regarding benefits and effectiveness (12.63%). Conclusions: Athletes show no significant differences in recovery choices based on competitive level, except for antioxidants. Coaches and athletes have partially different views on effective recovery. Furthermore, a lack of time, as well as a lack of (shared) knowledge and education, hinders the effective implementation of recovery strategies for athletes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Organizations are starting to actively invest in hiring initiatives aimed at recruiting autistic talent. However, given many of these initiatives are in their infancy, knowledge of autism and how best to assess and support autistic employees is low. Building on person‐environment fit (P‐E fit) theory and the double empathy problem, we examine how neurodiversity employment programs build mutual understanding and construct fit between autistic employees and their hiring organizations. We further explore the role of third‐party neurodivergent talent consultants (NTCs) in aiding these efforts during the birth stage of the cycle of talent. In Study 1, we use action research involving in‐depth structured interviews of participants (managers, coaches, and autistic employees) in a neurodiversity employment program at a major corporation in the financial services industry, supplemented with additional interviews of hiring managers and coaches with similar roles in other organizational settings. In Study 2, we collect qualitative survey data from autistic adults participating in other neurodiversity employment programs. Using these data, we explicate the practices that remove barriers to autistic employment and processes of ongoing coaching and support from NTCs that build and manage the double empathy problem by enhancing mutual understanding and increasing the perceptions of fit. We find that NTCs facilitate the acquisition of autistic talent through revised job search and recruitment (e.g., tailored job descriptions), alternative screening procedures (e.g., hands‐on assessments), and supported socialization and onboarding (e.g., communication, networking). We draw on job demands‐resources theory to develop and test a model that explores the direct and indirect (through relational energy) impact of inclusive leadership on workplace avoidance behaviors for neurodivergent employees. We also examine the moderating role of personal self‐control demands in the relationship between relational energy and workplace avoidance. We tested our model using partial least square ‐ structural equation modeling analysis with data collected using a time‐lagged data collection in a sample of 215 neurodiverse employees working in multinational companies across the Gulf Cooperation Council region (i.e., Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman). The findings demonstrate that inclusive leaders mitigate workplace avoidance behavior in neurodivergent employees. That is, inclusive leaders create an environment that contributes to the cultivation of employees' personal relational energy resources. Then, high levels of relational energy interact with employees' level of personal demands (i.e., impulse control, resisting distractions) to reduce workplace avoidance behaviors. Thriving is believed to occur when employees feel a sense of progress and momentum in the organization. This conceptual basis for thriving is inherently temporal—implying an underlying individual change process—which sets thriving apart from other well‐being criteria in the Human Resource Management literature. However, surprisingly little research has demonstrated and unpacked the change and development processes that lead to thriving. In this article, we develop and test a theoretical model of the dynamic origins of thriving in a socially important context: the aging workforce. Specifically, we propose that older workers thrive when they experience relational spirals: a deepening of the employee‐organization relationship as psychological contracts and role expansion drive each other in a mutually reinforcing spiral. Results from a large‐scale nationally representative longitudinal study of 3370 Australian older workers—spanning 1.5 years and three time points—support the proposed model. Older workers' relational psychological contracts and role expansion formed a mutually reinforcing spiral process over time which ultimately led to higher levels of thriving. These results held even after imposing autoregressive control of lagged variables at earlier time points, and after accounting for the contributions of transactional psychological contracts to the spiral process. Objective: To culturally adapt and validate the Italian version of the Shoulder Instability—Return to Sport after Injury (SI-RSI-I) scale. Methods: The SI-RSI-I was developed by adapting the Anterior Cruciate Ligament—Return to Sport Index—Italian version and replacing the term "knee" with "shoulder." Subsequently, it underwent validation following COSMIN recommendations. The study involved athletic participants who experienced SI. They completed the SI-RSI-I together with other measurement instruments: Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index, Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic Score, EuroQol-5D-5L, and Numeric Pain Rating Scale. The following psychometric properties were investigated: structural validity, internal consistency, test–retest reliability, measurement error, and construct validity. Results: The study included 101 participants (age mean [SD] 28.5 [7.4] y; 83 males, 18 females). The SI-RSI-I showed a single-factor structure, excellent internal consistency (α =.935), and excellent test–retest reliability (ICC =.926; 95% CI,.853–.964). The standard error of measurement was 6.1 points, and the minimal detectable change was 17.0 points. Furthermore, SI-RSI-I demonstrated moderate to strong correlations with all reference scales, confirming 8 out of 9 (88.0%) hypotheses, thus establishing satisfactory construct validity. Conclusion: The SI-RSI-I has demonstrated robust internal consistency, reliability, validity, and feasibility as a valuable scale for assessing psychological readiness to return to sport in Italian athletes with SI. Context: Psychological concerns, such as athlete burnout and diminished well-being, have become a more recognized problem among collegiate student-athletes due to substantial demands. The purpose of this study was to determine if (1) an association exists between athlete burnout and well-being in female collegiate student-athletes and (2) social support has a main or buffering-effect on well-being and athlete burnout. Design: Cross-sectional. Methods: 174 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I female collegiate student-athletes were recruited from a single institution to participate. A web-based survey was distributed via Qualtrics during the middle of an academic semester. The following scales were utilized to evaluate social support, athlete burnout, and well-being: Perceived Available Support in Sport Questionnaire, Athlete Burnout Questionnaire, and Warwick Edinburgh Metal Well-Being Scale. Results: Correlation analyses presented a significant negative, moderate correlation (r = −.58, P <.001) between athlete burnout and well-being as well as between social support and athlete burnout (r = −.526, P <.001). A moderate, positive correlation was identified between social support and well-being (r =.604, P <.001). Social support was a significant predictor for reduced sense of accomplishment (F1,172 = 68.32, P <.001), physical and emotional exhaustion (F1,172 = 22.00, P <.001), sport devaluation (F1,172 = 56.51, P <.001), and well-being (F1,172 = 115.3, P <.001). In the contemporary digital age, continued online learning behaviors have become indispensable for fostering employee development. However, the learning and development literature predominantly focuses on traditional instructor‐led approaches. It remains unclear how organizations can shape employees' learning behaviors, particularly in the context of online learning. The current study clarifies this underexplored research area by investigating how organizational investment in employee developmental climate (IEDC) can promote employees' continued online learning behaviors. Drawing on social influence theory and employing a multilevel research design, we find empirical support for our research model, which specifies that IEDC positively affects employees' continued online learning behaviors through the effect of normative pressure. The findings also reveal the moderating role of online learning facilitating conditions. Specifically, in firms characterized by higher levels of online learning facilitating conditions, the positive relationship between IEDC and normative pressure becomes more pronounced when compared to organizations with lower levels of such facilitating conditions. Research interest in thriving at work has burgeoned over the past decades, but little is known about how human resource (HR) practices affect employees' thriving at work. Drawing upon self‐determination theory and person‐organization fit theory, we developed and tested a moderated mediation model to explain how fun HR practices influence employees' thriving at work. The results of two studies, a scenario experiment (N = 164) and a time‐lagged survey (N = 253), supported our hypotheses. Specifically, the findings revealed that fun HR practices relates positively to employees' thriving at work. Autonomous motivation partially mediates the abovementioned relationship. Furthermore, fun HR practices translate into higher autonomous motivation and subsequent thriving at work for employees with higher preference for workplace fun. Our research contributes to the existing literature by identifying fun HR practices as an antecedent of thriving at work and revealing the psychological mechanisms through which fun HR practices affect employees' thriving at work. Despite the importance of a thriving workforce in sustaining organizational success, prior research pays little attention to how individualized human resource (HR) practices can help individual employees to thrive at work. Drawing on the theoretical underpinnings of conservation of resources theory, we investigate whether, how, and when development idiosyncratic deals (i‐deals) can contribute to individual thriving. We contend that possessing development i‐deals will motivate individuals to engage in approach job crafting, which in turn promotes their experience of thriving at work. We further contend that high‐quality leader–member exchange will enhance the function of development i‐deals in triggering approach job crafting and subsequent thriving experiences. Results from a two‐wave survey involving 278 managers in a pharmaceutical firm in China and a three‐wave survey among 178 managers working in various organizations in the UK support our hypotheses. Context: Sports-related concussions are commonly occurring injuries as a result of sports and recreation that may cause alterations in brain functioning. It is important to be able to evaluate the impact of these injuries on function to manage the injury recovery and ensure recovery. Recent literature suggests the use of objective evaluation strategies in a multifaceted approach to evaluate and manage these injuries. It is important to understand the relationships between the assessments and how best to utilize each assessment. The purpose of this study was to investigate if relationships exist between measures of vestibular function at baseline in assessments that may be used following sports-related concussions. Additionally, a secondary purpose was to determine if self-reported symptoms were related to performance on the assessments. This study aimed to identify if these assessments measured independent functions of the vestibulo–ocular reflex or if some redundancy existed among the assessment strategies. Design: A cross-sectional study design was used in a cohort of collegiate athletes ages 18–24. Methods: Participants completed demographics questionnaires, the Post-Concussion Symptom Scale, Gaze Stabilization Test, and Concussion Balance Test. Spearman rho correlations were used to examine the relationships between the measures. Results: One hundred and thirty-five collegiate athletes (82 males and 53 females) were included, representative of 3 sports (cheerleading, soccer, and football) with a mean age of 19.77 (1.42) years old. There were weak to moderate, significant relationships between measures of Gaze Stabilization Test and Concussion Balance Test errors (r =.20–.31, P =.001–.03). Conclusions: The direction of these relationships indicated that greater Concussion Balance Test errors were associated with greater Gaze Stabilization Test performance. These relationships may be attributed to the difficulty created by the foam conditions and the integration of more complex sensory tasks required to maintain balance during the more difficult conditions. We integrate the job characteristics and dual work passion models to explore the indirect (via work meaningfulness) effects of job characteristics (i.e., job autonomy, task identity, skill variety, task significance, feedback from the job and feedback from others) on two types of work passion, harmonious passion (HP) and obsessive passion (OP). We first advance occupation‐specific predictions for job characteristics‐to‐work passion relationships and then explore differences in those relationships between HP and OP across four occupational sectors: knowledge work (n = 201), blue‐collar work (n = 148), nonprofit work (n = 141), and managerial work (n = 133). Our findings demonstrate that job characteristics are important drivers of work passion. However, our key discovery is that the motivational impact of the job characteristics is not universally applicable but rather depends on the specific occupational context and whether passion is harmonious or obsessive. We therefore conclude that when it comes to translating job characteristics into work passion, the one‐size‐fits‐all approach is not appropriate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study proposes and tests a self‐concept‐based perspective for the effects of formal mentoring support on affective organizational commitment (AOC) via multiple mediators. Using time‐lagged multi‐source dyadic data (n = 203), we demonstrate that formal mentoring support significantly influences newcomer–protégés' AOC through an underlying self‐evaluative mechanism indicated by organization‐based self‐esteem (OBSE), even in the presence of a well‐established alternative mediator (perceived organizational support; POS). Moreover, we further demonstrate when or under what circumstances such effects might be attenuated or exaggerated by introducing a salient boundary condition to such a process (i.e., perceived mentor organizational prototypicality). As the findings reveal, by making newcomer–protégés feel good about themselves in the workplace (i.e., perceive self‐value) formal mentoring support can also promote organizational commitment, effects that are likely to be amplified when the formal mentor is perceived to be prototypical of the organization. Thus, bridging the mentoring and socialization literatures, the inclusion of our proposed mediators and moderator and testing their relationships simultaneously not only provides a more nuanced view of the underlying mechanisms through which the effects of formal mentoring support are channeled to influence newcomer–protégés' work attitudes but it offers new theoretical elaboration and contextual understanding that we hope will prompt future research and be of benefit to human resource practitioners. Context: The utility of baseline vestibular and ocular motor screening (VOMS) in high school and collegiate athletes is demonstrated throughout the literature; however, baseline VOMS data at the youth level are limited. In addition, with the recent adoption of the change scoring method, there is a need to document baseline VOMS total and change scores in a pediatric population. Objective: To document baseline VOMS total and change scores and to document the internal consistency of the VOMS in pediatric soccer athletes. We hypothesized that the VOMS would demonstrate strong internal consistency in pediatric soccer athletes. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Pediatric soccer athletes (N = 110; range = 5–12 y) completed the VOMS at baseline. Descriptive statistics summarized demographic information, VOMS total scores, and VOMS change scores. Cronbach α assessed internal consistency for VOMS total scores and change scores. Results: Twenty-one (19.1%) participants had at least one total score above clinical cutoffs (≥2 on any VOMS component and ≥5 cm on average near point convergence). Forty (36.4%) participants had at least one change score above clinical cutoffs (≥1 on any VOMS component and ≥3 cm on average near point convergence). The internal consistency was strong for total scores with all VOMS components included (Cronbach α =.80) and change scores (Cronbach α =.89). Conclusions: Although results suggest VOMS items measure distinct components of the vestibular and ocular motor systems, caution should be taken when interpreting VOMS total and change scores in pediatric athletes, as overreporting symptoms is common, thereby impacting the false-positive rate. There is an increasing body of research on algorithmic management (AM), but the field lacks measurement tools to capture workers' experiences of this phenomenon. Based on existing literature, we developed and validated the algorithmic management questionnaire (AMQ) to measure the perceptions of workers regarding their level of exposure to AM. Across three samples (overall n = 1332 gig workers), we show the content, factorial, discriminant, convergent, and predictive validity of the scale. The final 20‐item scale assesses workers' perceived level of exposure to algorithmic: monitoring, goal setting, scheduling, performance rating, and compensation. These dimensions formed a higher order construct assessing overall exposure to algorithmic management, which was found to be, as expected, negatively related to the work characteristics of job autonomy and job complexity and, indirectly, to work engagement. Supplementary analyses revealed that perceptions of exposure to AM reflect the objective presence of AM dimensions beyond individual variations in exposure. Overall, the results suggest the suitability of the AMQ to assess workers' perceived exposure to algorithmic management, which paves the way for further research on the impacts of these rapidly accelerating systems. Materials and Methods: This cross‐sectional study was conducted between March and May 2021 with 619 students in the Akdeniz University Faculty of Nursing. A Descriptive Information Form, the Suicide Probability Scale, the Psychache Scale and the Brief Resilience Scale were used to collect data. The structural equation model approach was used to examine the resilience mediating effect on the relation between suicide risk and psychological pain, and Path Analysis was performed. The reporting of the study was conducted according to STROBE. Results: A semi‐mediatory effect of resilience was found between psychological pain and the risk of suicide, and the effect size was determined to be broad (0.57). Discussion: Resilience can be considered as a protective factor for suicide prevention in psychiatric nursing practices. Conclusion: Resilience has an effect on the relationship between psychological pain and suicide risk. Accessible Summary: What is known about the subject: Caring for a family member with a mental illness induces a burden on the caregiver, an impact on their quality of life and premature ageing of more than ten years. What the paper adds to existing knowledge: We conducted systematised and individualised nursing interviews with family members, on the first days of a relative's hospitalisation, during hospitalisation and three months after discharge.We observed persistent depressive symptoms during and after hospitalisation. Burden and depression were higher, and quality of life was lower, for women caregivers and when the caregivers admitted the patients involuntarily in the hospital ward. When the caregivers were experiencing a patient's first hospitalisation, we also found higher depressive symptoms and lower quality of life. What are the implications for practice: This study emphasises the need for new interventions such as psychoeducation to alleviate the suffering of families. Aim: We assessed the impact of patients' psychiatric hospitalisation on their caregivers, through evaluating their suffering, burden and quality of life, in three stages: upon the patients' admission, their discharge and 3 months after their discharge. Method: In total, 127 caregivers of adult patients whose first hospitalisation was less than 5 years ago were assessed using the 36‐item Short‐Form Health Survey, the Zarit Burden Interview and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale. Results: Females and caregivers who admitted patients against their will experienced higher burden and depression and lower mental quality of life. We also found higher depressive symptoms and lower quality of life among caregivers during a patient's first hospitalisation. The caregiver's familial relationship to the patient was not associated with these outcomes. Finally, burden decreased and quality of life increased over time. Discussion: Results suggest that several variables associated with patient hospitalisations were correlated with burden, depression or quality of life. Implications for Practice: Burden could be targeted with interventions such as group psychoeducation for caregivers during or after the patient's hospitalisation, in order to reduce their distress and improve their quality of life. Psychiatric and mental health nurses can provide support to caregivers with systematic assessments of their burden and quality of life, so as to better meet their needs and promote their ability to cope with mental illness. Cultural and religious norms, as well as trauma-related cognitions and recovery actions, are known to impact the well-being of survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV). Although acknowledged as a key component, there is scant research on the recovery trajectories of women who have experienced IPV, in particular on survivors from collectivistic societies such as the Jewish Ultra-Orthodox (JUO) community in Israel. A mediation model examined the recovery process of 261 Israeli JUO survivors. In particular, it tested whether the normalization of violence and women's endorsement of Jewish religious norms that justify violence would be directly and negatively associated with women's well-being and positively associated with psychopathology. Additionally, it examined whether women's normalization of violence and support of religious norms would positively predict women's negative trauma-related cognitions. In turn, these cognitions were expected to negatively predict women's engagement in recovery actions, help-seeking behaviors, and faith-based responses but positively predict disengagement responses. The model further posited that women's engagement in steps toward recovery, help-seeking behaviors, and faith-based responses would positively predict women's well-being and negatively predict psychopathology. In contrast, women's disengagement responses would negatively predict women's well-being and positively predict their psychopathology. Bootstrap results indicated that supporting religious norms positively predicted women's trauma-related cognitions, which then negatively predicted women's recovery actions, help-seeking behaviors, and faith-based responses but positively predicted women's disengagement responses. Women's recovery actions and faith-based responses positively predicted women's well-being, while disengagement responses positively predicted women's psychopathology. This research reports findings from a study to explore the efficacy of a video-based training with college students to determine the extent to which the training shifted student perceptions of hazing, increased willingness and ability to intervene in situations where hazing is occurring, and altered student perceptions of hazing social norms. The study included two experimental groups and a control group at each of the three data-gathering sessions at three U.S. universities. Each of the universities belonged to the Hazing Prevention Consortium and had demonstrated a willingness to prevent hazing on their campuses. The 17-minute hazing prevention documentary We Don't Haze, developed using a bystander intervention framework, was administered in two experimental conditions: video-only and video plus facilitated discussion. Participants (n = 318) were members of a leadership development program, resident advisors, and club sport athletes and were randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups or the control group. Students who viewed the video-based training and students who viewed the video and engaged in a follow-up facilitated discussion significantly shifted their perceptions of hazing and indicated an increased willingness and ability to intervene and help others who are experiencing or have experienced hazing, compared to students who viewed a general leadership video. The results of this study indicate that the tested hazing prevention trainings—both the stand-alone video, We Don't Haze, and the video plus discussion—hold promise for strengthening knowledge of the full range of harm associated with hazing, while amplifying perceptions that support hazing prevention and diminishing perceptions that contribute to normalizing hazing. Institutional betrayal (IB) is well-documented among survivors of gender-based violence seeking help and/or reporting incidents of violence in various settings, including college campuses and health care settings. Two of the most common institutions from which survivors seek help are the criminal and civil legal systems; however, less is known about the experiences of IB among survivors interfacing with those systems. Previous studies exploring IB have implemented the Institutional Betrayal Questionnaire (IBQ) and its various adaptations, but this scale has not yet been analyzed in the criminal or civil legal context, nor has it been analyzed among racially marginalized survivors. This paper explores the potential for utilizing the IBQ-Health among a sample of 199 Black and Hispanic survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) who sought help from the criminal and/or civil legal system(s). An exploratory factor analysis was conducted to explore the fit of the measure to the data. Results suggest that the measure as it has previously been used does not demonstrate strong reliability or fit with this population or institution. Possible explanations and future directions are explored, including support for developing and piloting a new measure to assess IB among Black and Hispanic survivors of interpersonal violence who are seeking help from criminal and civil legal institutions. Sexual minority (e.g., gay/lesbian, bisexual, and queer) students are more likely than their heterosexual peers to experience sexual violence (SV) during college. Interventions that prevent SV and improve SV care-seeking behaviors for sexual minority students are lacking. Giving Information for Trauma Support and Safety (GIFTSS) is an evidence-based universal SV intervention implemented by providers during college health and counseling visits. Compared to controls, GIFTSS participants reported greater self-efficacy to use SV harm reduction strategies and SV disclosure during clinical visits. However, GIFTSS' effectiveness for sexual minority participants is unknown. The current study examines whether sexual orientation moderates GIFTSS' effects on numerous SV-related outcomes (i.e., to test whether intervention effects at 4 and 12 months differed based on sexual orientation). Across 28 college campuses in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, 2,291 students participated in a two-arm cluster-randomized controlled trial. We used mixed models with two- and three-way interaction terms to test whether sexual orientation modified GIFTSS' effects at 4- and 12-month follow-up on participants': SV recognition; knowledge of and self-efficacy to enact SV harm reduction strategies; intentions to intervene; knowledge of and self-efficacy to use SV-related services; SV disclosure during visits; and recent SV exposure. Overall, 22.1% of participants were sexual minorities (n = 507). Sexual orientation moderated GIFTSS effectiveness as indicated by significant three-way interaction (p =.01) at 12-month follow-up, and knowledge of SV services decreased for heterosexual participants (β = −.23) but increased for sexual minority participants (β =.23). Our study indicates that universal provider-based education may promote greater knowledge of SV services among sexual minority than heterosexual participants, and population-specific interventions are needed that reduce sexual minority students' SV exposure, service utilization, and other critical aspects of SV prevention on university campuses. Children and young people in foster and adoptive families are considered more vulnerable to a high level of mental health need when compared to peers who are not care-experienced or adopted. Acceptance of this view amongst clinical providers and policy makers has necessitated the development of specialist provision and dedicated care pathways within child and adolescent mental health services. In this provision, practitioner-initiated quality improvement projects help in appraising the effectiveness of clinical interventions in local contexts, as well as identifying areas for service learning and practice reflection. This article reports on the evaluation of a mentalisation-based psychoeducation group intervention for adoptive parents and foster carers. The evaluation activity took place in a single child and adolescent mental health service setting, starting during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the intervention being implemented online via videoconferencing. In the article, after introducing the intervention (based on the Family Minds model), an analysis of clinical data collected pre- and post-intervention is reported. Few results of the analysis regarding the two pre- and post-measures reached statistical significance, indicating only changes in the magnitude of stress in the parent/carer-child system. A series of reflections are posed that consider what this finding means in developing fit-for-purpose support for adoptive parents and foster carers in child and adolescent mental health service contexts. This study aimed to examine the relationships between the variables of pandemic awareness, death anxiety, and spiritual well-being and reveal whether the participants' perceptions of pandemic awareness, death anxiety, and spiritual well-being differed according to various sociodemographic characteristics. The study population is comprised of individuals aged 65 years and over in Edirne, Turkey. The data obtained from 449 people in the study were analyzed using various statistical methods. According to the results of the regression analysis performed in the study, the increase in the participants' pandemic awareness was found to reduce their death anxiety and increase their spiritual well-being statistically. Since suicide is one of the major health problems worldwide, the goal of the present study is to develop a psychometrically sound suicide risk screening tool named Suicide Screening Questionnaire- Self-Rating (SSQ-SR) to quantify the risk of suicidal behavior. The development process includes item generation, item revision and refinement, and validation. A total sample of 2,238 adults in South Korea was used for analysis. The results of factor analysis showed that the SSQ-SR, containing 25 items, supported a three-factor model: "Situational factors," "Negative self-perceptions and mental health factors," and "Suicidal thoughts and behaviors." Also, SSQ-SR showed satisfying internal consistency, concurrent validity and discriminant validity. Lastly, the results of ROC analysis showed a cut-off point of 33.5 for the low-risk group and 36.5 for the high-risk group. Introduction: Adults over the age of 65 are at a higher risk for diagnostic errors due to a myriad of reasons. In primary care settings, a large contributor of diagnostic errors are breakdowns in information gathering and synthesis throughout the patient-provider encounter. Diagnostic communication interventions, such as the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's "Be the Expert on You" note sheet, may require adaptations to address older adults' unique needs. Methods: We recruited and partnered with older adult patients (n = 6) in focus group sessions to understand their perspectives on diagnostic communication and the existing AHRQ note sheet. A two-page communication and clinic workflow tool was developed and implemented over a 6-month period using three Plan-Do-Check-Act cycles. Physicians, nurses, staff, and patients were surveyed. Results: Most older adult patients (n = 31) found the tailored diagnostic communication note sheet to be easy-to-use, helpful for provider communication, and would recommend its use to other patients. Physicians and staff members were satisfied with the note sheet and described few challenges in using it in practice. Discussion: Our findings contribute to the growing body of evidence around diagnostic safety interventions and patient engagement by demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of actively involving older adult patients in quality initiatives. Background: In Hong Kong, breast cancer is the commonest female cancer. In addition to intrinsic risk factors that cannot be modified, other factors may be potentially modifiable. The objective of this report was to determine modifiable risk factors in association with breast cancer among Chinese women in our locality. Methods: This is a case-control study that enrolled breast cancer patients from the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Registry and healthy matched controls from the local community between 2014 and 2017. Potential risk factors were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. Results: In total, 5186 breast cancer patients and 5571 controls were recruited. Several modifiable risk factors were identified. Self-perceived high stress level (adjusted odd ratios [AOR]= 3.44; 95% confidence intervals [CI] = 3.13-3.78), dairy-rich diet (AOR = 3.33; 95% CI = 2.01-5.52), delayed child-bearing (AOR = 2.23; 95% CI = 1.79-2.79), meat-rich diet (AOR = 1.77; 95% CI = 1.54-2.04), ever use of oral contraceptives (AOR = 1.34; 95% CI = 1.22-1.47), nulliparity (AOR = 1.21; 95% CI = 1.08-1.35), and being overweight/obese (AOR = 1.21; 95% CI = 1.10-1.32) were found to be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer. On the other hand, breastfeeding (AOR = 0.76; 95% CI = 0.69-0.83) and exercise (odds ratio = 0.62; 95% CI = 0.56-0.68) were associated with decreased risk. Conclusions: In our locality, high-stress level, meat- and dairy-rich diet, reproductive history, use of oral contraceptives, and being overweight/obese were identified to be modifiable risk factors for breast cancer. Background: Entrepreneurial attitudes among nursing students are crucial for fostering innovation and addressing the evolving challenges in healthcare. However, measuring these attitudes accurately requires robust and validated instruments. The Nursing Start-up Attitude Scale is a valid and reliable instrument specifically designed to measure nursing students' attitudes towards start-ups. However, its psychometric properties in the context of the Iranian nursing field have not been thoroughly examined. Methods: This methodological study was conducted online between 2021 and 2023, involving nursing students from various universities across Iran. The study employed the following procedures: forward–backward translation, assessment of face and content validities, concurrent validity analysis (n = 80 nursing students), exploratory factor analysis (n = 120), confirmatory factor analysis (n = 220), and reliability analysis, which included the assessment of Cronbach's alpha coefficient, interclass correlation coefficient, interpretability, and ceiling and floor effects. Results: A total of 370 nursing students participated in the study. After ensuring the face and content validities, the concurrent validity was confirmed (r = 0.89). The five factors extracted in the exploratory factor analysis, which accounted for 80.74% of the explained variance, were subsequently confirmed in the confirmatory factor analysis. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be 0.85. Additionally, the interclass correlation coefficient for the total scale was 0.812, and there were no ceiling or floor effects observed (0%). Conclusion: The present study confirms the validity and reliability of the Nursing Start-up Attitude Scale in the Iranian context. This scale can serve as a valuable tool for identifying both the strengths and areas for improvement in nursing entrepreneurial education programs. Background: Despite increased access to HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Canada, familiarity and experience among primary care providers (PCPs)—including family doctors and those working with key populations—remains limited. To understand the barriers and facilitators of PrEP familiarity and experience, we conducted a situational analysis in PCPs in sub-urban and rural Ontario. Methods: We surveyed a non-probabilistic sample of PCPs using an online questionnaire, designed with the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR). Poisson regressions with robust variance were used to assess the relationship between CFIR domains, sociodemographic, and practice characteristics on both PrEP familiarity and experience. Results: A total of 54 PCPs participated (6% response rate), comprising 80% physicians and 20% nurses. Nearly 30% of the sample worked with key populations, including sexual health clinics and community care centers, 18% of respondents reported high familiarity with PrEP, and 44% reported PrEP experience (referred, started a conversation, or prescribed). PrEP familiarity and experience were associated with working in an organization serving key populations, working with gender minorities, and having colleagues providing PrEP. Providers with a positive perception of PrEP and its necessity for populations at risk were more likely to have PrEP-related experience. Higher familiarity and experience were reported by PCPs with specific clinical skills related to PrEP, and with the perception that PrEP was compatible with their practice as primary provider. Background: The incidence of acute cardiac arrest is increasing and is directly linked to patient survival, highlighting the critical role of nurses. Advanced nursing skills for cardiac arrest patients, such as self-directed pre-learning applied to various clinical situations, require a systematic blended learning approach to integrate knowledge and enhance clinical performance through face-to-face practice. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a blended simulation education program for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) using the PARTNER model. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design with a time-lagged approach was used to collect data from 34 third-year nursing students. The experimental group(n = 17) received a 480-minute blended simulation education program based on the PARTNER model and flipped learning, while the control group(n = 17) participated in a 480-minute traditional simulation education program. Results: The study found that knowledge, confidence, performance in advanced cardiac life support, and clinical performance ability were effectively enhanced, although no significant effect was observed in learning satisfaction. Conclusions: The program provides a new direction in applying blended simulation using the PARTNER model for advanced cardiac life support nursing education, ultimately contributing to the training of nurses competent in advanced cardiac life support. Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are one of the leading causes of mortality and disability among individuals with diabetes. Cardiac mortality in these patients is often associated with the prevalence of silent ischemia. Increasing awareness and changing patient behaviors and attitudes can reduce disease-related mortality. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs regarding acute coronary syndrome in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 303 diabetic patients attending the Velayat and Bou Ali hospitals in Qazvin, Iran, in 2024. Inclusion criteria included a willingness to participate in the study, mental health status (based on existing records), and no history of myocardial infarction (MI). Data collection tools comprised a demographic questionnaire and the ACS Response questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and analytical statistics, with a significance level of <0.05 for all tests. Results: The mean (standard deviation) scores for knowledge, attitudes, and performance of patients with T2DM were 67.46 (6.3), 62.11 (28.2), and 97.22 (5.4), respectively. In the knowledge section, the highest percentage of correct responses was related to awareness of facilities in the hospital to reduce heart attack-related damages (62.3%) and familiarity with the symptoms of arm or hand numbness (43.41%). Patients had a low attitude towards heart disease, with approximately 36.4% being somewhat or completely confident in their ability to assist others with a heart attack. Regarding performance, 45.7% of individuals believed that they should promptly go to the hospital during a heart attack. Additionally, 44.2% preferred others to transport them to the hospital during a heart attack instead of using an ambulance. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that patients with T2DM lack sufficient knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs regarding the symptoms of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Although ACS manifests through various symptoms, patients in this study primarily identified chest pain, arm pain, and shortness of breath as indicators of ACS. At the same time, over half of the participants were unaware of other symptoms. Therefore, it is essential to educate individuals about the full range of potential ACS symptoms. Background: The treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) has steadily progressed over the past four decades, with recent focus shifting towards total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT). This survey aims to elucidate the perceived surgical challenges faced by Austrian colorectal surgeons performing total mesorectal excision (TME), focusing on the increased complexity and surgical difficulty introduced by intensified treatment regimens. Methods: A comprehensive survey was conducted among Austrian colorectal surgeons to explore various aspects of managing and performing TME following TNT. The survey included questions on the general management of LARC within their institutions and utilized a five-point Likert scale to assess the respondents' perceptions and experiences regarding surgical precision and post-operative morbidity associated with TNT. Results: A total of 31 surgeons (54% response rate) completed the survey. Regarding multidisciplinary therapy preferences, 56% of respondents preferred conventional neoadjuvant therapy regimens, with 32% favoring chemoradiotherapy and 24% opting for short-course radiotherapy, while 31% chose TNT. The majority of respondents (65%) reported quality differences in tissue dissection during TME following TNT, with 57% experiencing difficulties in identifying tissue planes and 47% noting increased tissue fragility. Increased bleeding was reported by 32% of respondents. In cases of regrowth after a watch-and-wait approach, 64% observed quality changes in tissue dissection, and 47% noted tissue fragility. Conclusions: The survey results indicate that TNT impairs surgical precision due to changes in tissue quality and challenges in identifying surgical planes. Given the critical importance of surgical precision in achieving low local recurrence rates in mid-to-low LARC, these challenges could significantly impact patient outcomes. Purpose: Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD) are painful, chronic and multi-systemic conditions. No online pain management programs for hEDS/HSD currently exist. We aimed to develop one by exploring what people with hEDS/HSD want in such programs. Materials and methods: A Delphi was conducted via online surveys of stakeholders: participants with hEDS/HSD and healthcare professionals (HCP). In survey 1, participants were asked if a hEDS/HSD-specific online pain management program was important, listing up to 20 topics important to know about pain. In survey 2, participants rated the importance of those topics. Consensus was set as ≥75% rating of at least "important". Using topics that reached consensus, the online program was developed. Usability testing was performed using the Systems Usability Scale (SUS). Results: 396 hEDS/HSD and 29 HCP completed survey 1; 151 hEDS/HSD and 12 HCP completed survey 2. 81% of hEDS/HSD and 69% of HCP rated a hEDS/HSD-specific program as at least "important". Thirty-five topics reached consensus to guide content for the HOPE program (Hypermobile Online Pain managemEnt). SUS score was 82.5, corresponding to "high acceptability". Conclusions: A hEDS/HSD-specific online pain management program is important to stakeholders. Utilising a Delphi approach to incorporate stakeholder input, an evidence-informed and user appropriate program was developed. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION: Pain is one of the most common and impactful symptom affecting those with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD). Online pain management programs are effective in other chronic conditions such as Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis, but there are no programs specific for hEDS/HSD. People with hEDS or HSD and healthcare professionals with experience in these conditions feel that an online pain management program specific to their condition is important; consensus revealed thirty-five key topics important to these stakeholders. Background/Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic imposed immense stress on healthcare systems worldwide, significantly affecting the mental well-being of healthcare workers (HCWs). This study examined the sociodemographic, occupational, and COVID-19-related predictors of burnout syndrome among Serbian HCWs. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 400 doctors and nurses utilized the Maslach Burnout Inventory to assess emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment. Sociodemographic, work-related, and COVID-19-related data were collected via a questionnaire. Results: Key predictors of emotional exhaustion included female gender, inadequate rest, sleep disturbances, and frontline COVID-19 work. Depersonalization was associated with fewer children, temporary employment, and COVID-19 frontline duties. Conversely, older age, religiosity, larger households, and a higher socioeconomic status positively correlated with personal accomplishment. Conclusions: These findings emphasize the urgent need for targeted interventions, including improved working conditions and mental health support, to reduce burnout and enhance HCWs' well-being during medical crises. Background: Academic procrastination is particularly prevalent among higher vocational nursing students, a key component of the nursing workforce, and is closely associated with poor academic performance and a decline in clinical practice quality. While perceived stress and emotions are known significant predictors, the mechanisms through which they influence academic procrastination remain unclear. Thus, this study aimed to explore the mediating roles of positive and negative emotions in the relationship between perceived stress and academic procrastination among higher vocational nursing students. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 1308 higher vocational nursing students from June to July 2023 in Hebei Province, China. The participants were recruited by convenient sampling to complete a sociodemographic and academic related information questionnaire, Perceived Stress Scales, Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, and Academic Procrastination Questionnaire for College Students. Then, the data were analysed by SPSS 26.0 and a multiple mediation model was tested using Hayes' PROCESS macro (Model 4). A mediation effect was considered statistically significant if the 95% confidence interval did not contain zero. Results: The mean score of academic procrastination was 50.4 (12.6), with 82.0% of nursing students reporting academic procrastination. A significant positive correlation was observed between perceived stress, negative emotions and academic procrastination (r = 0.442, r = 0.376, all P < 0.001). Conversely, a significant positive correlation was found between positive emotions and academic procrastination (r=-0.299, P < 0.001). Subsequent mediation analysis demonstrated that positive emotions and negative emotions partially mediated the correlation of perceived stress with academic procrastination (total indirect effect: Standardized β = 0.193, 95% CI [0.142, 0.247]). The direct effect was 0.252, and the mediating effect accounts for 43.4% of the total effect. Conclusions: Positive and negative emotions act as partial mediators in the correlation between perceived stress and academic procrastination among higher vocational college nursing students. It is crucial for nurse educators to foster positive emotional experiences and alleviate negative emotions through strategies such as effective stress management and mindfulness practices, in order to mitigate academic procrastination. Background: The Basic Emergency Care (BEC) course was created by the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM) to train frontline providers in low-resource settings. This study aims to evaluate long-term retention and maintenance of emergency care knowledge and confidence among University of Nairobi School of Medicine graduates after completing the BEC course. Methods: This longitudinal, prospective, comparative study was conducted with recent graduates of the University of Nairobi School of Medicine from October 2021 to May 2023. Participants' retention of emergency medicine knowledge was assessed comparing a pre/post course test and a multiple-choice examination 12 to 18 months after completing the BEC course. A survey assessed participants' confidence in managing patients with emergencies 12–18 months after completing the BEC course using a 4-point Likert scale. These results were compared to a control group of recent University of Nairobi School of Medicine graduates who did not take the BEC course. Results: The follow-up test scores were lower than the immediate post-course test scores, which suggests some knowledge loss over time. Compared to the control group, the BEC participants had higher test scores during the follow-up period although the difference was not significant. There was no difference between most of the immediate post-course and follow-up survey responses. On follow-up evaluation, BEC participants reported a significant decrease in confidence in understanding emergency drugs and managing an obstructed airway and a patient requiring immobilization. However, compared to the control group, BEC participants had significantly higher self-reported confidence in most areas assessed by the survey. Conclusion: The WHO BEC course is effective for emergency care training for medical students at the University of Nairobi. Background: Faced with a shortage of nurses in China, the factors affecting the stability of the nursing workforce require urgent attention. The workplace deviance behavior of nurses is considered an important behavior in clinical practice, which will bring negative effects and affect the development of nurse team. However, no research has been done to examine the associations among workplace deviance behavior of nurses, practice environment and job burnout. Thus, this study aimed to determine the influence of practice environment on nurses' workplace deviance behavior and confirm the mediating role of job burnout. Methods: This study was designed as a multicentre cross-sectional study, and recruited 598 nurses in China to complete a survey of the general information questionnaire, Scale of Workplace Deviance Behavior of Nurses, Practice Environment Scale, and Maslach Burnout Inventory General Survey. The model was examined using descriptive analysis, Pearson's correlation analysis, and the PROCESS Macro in SPSS 26.0. Results: The results of the correlation analysis demonstrated a significant relationship between the practice environment and work deviance behavior of nurses, as well as a negative relationship between job burnout and these two factors. Moreover, the relationship between practice environment and work deviance behavior among nurses was partially mediated by job burnout. Conclusion: A healthy practice environment and a decrease in job burnout could directly lower the work deviant behavior of nurses. Hospital managers must actively endeavor to improve the practice environment for nurses by fostering a just, fair, and supportive practice environment and by keeping lines of communication open and strong with the nursing staff. Aims: This study aims to improve the interpretability and clinical utility of the COmprehensive Score for financial Toxicity-Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy (COST-FACIT) by identifying distinct financial toxicity classes in adults with diabetes. Methods: Data included a sample of 600 adults with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and high A1c. Latent Class Analysis was used to identify subgroups of patients based on COST-FACIT score patterns. Results: We identified 3 financial toxicity classes (high, medium and low) with strong indicators of membership classification. Multiple indicators of financial stress, maladaptive cost-coping behaviors, more comorbidities, more prescribed medications, more diabetes distress, more depressive symptoms, closer to the federal poverty level, female, having lower educational attainment and being single were all significant predictors of high financial toxicity class membership. A score of 26 on the COST-FACIT was the strongest threshold for sorting high vs. medium/low financial toxicity, with a positive predictive value (PPV) of 76% and negative predictive value (NPV) of 93%. Conclusion: The COST-FACIT can be used to reliably identify people with diabetes that have high financial toxicity. This study presents a multiphasic evidential decision-making matrix (MedMax), a decision support model developed to optimize treatment for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ihCC), a primary liver cancer. The model was built using data from randomized controlled trials and expert opinions from HPB surgeons treated at Heidelberg University Hospital. MedMax operates in four phases: diagnosis, treatment modality, surgical approach, and prognosis. It demonstrated high accuracy in supporting surgical and treatment decisions, showing potential as a clinical tool. Further validation is needed with larger patient groups to confirm its broader clinical application. Background: Despite the significant advancements of liver surgery in the last few decades, the survival rate of patients with liver and pancreatic cancers has improved by only 10% in 30 years. Precision medicine offers a patient-centered approach, which, when combined with machine learning, could enhance decision making and treatment outcomes in surgical management of ihCC. This study aims to develop a decision support model to optimize treatment strategies for patients with ihCC, a prevalent primary liver cancer. Methods: The decision support model, named MedMax, was developed using three data sources: studies retrieved through a systematic literature review, expert opinions from HPB surgeons, and data from ihCC patients treated at Heidelberg University Hospital. Expert opinions were collected via surveys, with factors rated on a Likert scale, while patient data were used to validate the model's accuracy. Results: The model is structured into four decision-making phases, assessing diagnosis, treatment modality, surgical approach, and prognosis. Prospectively, 44 patients with ihCC were included for internal primary validation of the model. MedMax could predict the appropriate treatment considering the resectability of the lesions in 100% of patients. Also, MedMax could predict a decent surgical approach in 77% of the patients. The model proved effective in making decisions regarding surgery and patient management, demonstrating its potential as a clinical decision support tool. Conclusions: MedMax offers a transparent, personalized approach to decision making in HPB surgery, particularly for ihCC patients. Initial results show high accuracy in treatment selection, and the model's flexibility allows for future expansion to other liver tumors and HPB surgeries. Background: As the population ages, the demand for social and health systems grows, especially due to chronic diseases and dependency. Informal caregivers, particularly women, face significant burdens including physical, emotional, and financial strain. Current caregiving assessment tools focus on those already in caregiving roles or health professionals, with no tools for the general population without prior caregiving experience. Purpose: This study aimed to develop and validate the Spanish COMCAPCARE scale, which assesses the skills and abilities necessary to care for dependent individuals, including those nearing the end of life, among individuals without prior caregiving experience. Methods: A scale validation study was conducted. A Delphi panel of 13 experts developed an 18-item scale, which was administered to 253 participants over the age of 18 who had not previously served as primary caregivers. Main measurements were psychometric analyses, including principal components analysis (PCA) and reliability testing using Cronbach's alpha and intraclass correlation coefficient. Correlation with a single-item self-assessment of caregiving competence was verified through Spearman's rho. Results: A total of 253 participants (73.9% women) with a mean age of 33 years (SD 13.7) participated. The scale identified 3 factors: financial and work situation (4 items), adaptability (8 items), and care and communication (6 items). The total scale demonstrated high reliability (α = 0.84) and significant correlations between the scale's total score and a single-item self-assessment of caregiving competence (r = 0.693, P <.001). Background: Although resourcefulness has been successfully taught during formal training programs, it can also be acquired informally through life experiences. Family caregivers have many opportunities for learning to be resourceful on their own and those who participate in research may acquire knowledge or skills that increase their resourcefulness. The effects of such differential experiences on the resourcefulness of family caregivers have not been examined over time. Objective: This study compared changes in resourcefulness over time in caregivers who received no intervention, an educational program, biofeedback, or Resourcefulness Training©. Methods: This longitudinal analysis of data from a randomized controlled trial involved 219 caregivers of persons with bipolar disorder who completed the Resourcefulness Scale© before no intervention, an educational program, biofeedback, or Resourcefulness Training, and at 6 and 12 months afterward. Differences across the groups were examined using RMANOVA. Patterns of mean scores including differences and linear trends in resourcefulness for the four groups were examined. Results: Overall, caregivers increased linearly in resourcefulness over time [ F (1,215) = 4.836, P =.015]. Although each group showed improvement in resourcefulness, caregivers who received Resourcefulness Training showed the greatest improvement from baseline (estimated mean = 88.244, SE = 2.734) at both 6 months (estimated mean = 92.610, SE = 2.813, P =.026) and 12 months post-intervention (estimated mean = 95.049, SE = 2.752, P =.003). Conclusions: Consistent with resourcefulness theory, the findings showed caregivers of persons with bipolar disorder became more resourceful over time with or without formal training. However, those who received Resourcefulness Training demonstrated resourcefulness skills sooner and to a greater extent, thereby providing the rationale for formal Resourcefulness Training programs. Improved understanding of the well-being of injured workers following claim finalization is an important component of improving outcomes for injured workers and their broader communities. Objective: Injured workers can be disadvantaged after a workers' compensation claims ends. This study investigated the association of a range of variables with well-being in injured workers who had finalized a workers' compensation claim >3 months prior. Methods: On-line, cross-sectional survey (n = 129, 55.81% female). Well-being was measured using the Psychological Wellbeing 18-item (PWB) and the Personal Wellbeing Score (PWS). Results: Multivariable quantile regression analysis controlling for education level demonstrated associations between the PWB and levels of psychological distress (−1.53; 95% CI, −2.11 to −0.94; P < 0.001) and resilience (6.51; 95% CI, 2.65 to 10.37; P = 0.001), and between the PWS and levels of psychological distress (−0.04; 95% CI, −0.51 to −0.29; P < 0.001) and resilience (1.2; 95% CI 0.47 to 1.93), P = 0.001. Background: Screening of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is an NHS priority for improving community health service. Effective DVT screening and documentation improve patient outcomes, prevent prolonged hospitalisation and lead to fewer expenses. The lack of evidence of DVT screening in the community requires action. This Quality Improvement Project focuses on improving DVT screening and documentation for housebound patients in the community. Aim: To improve screening and documentation of DVT in four months by introducing several interventions in collaboration with one care community. Methods: The authors used a fishbone analysis and driver diagram to form three 'Plan, Do, Study and Act' cycles. The authors also developed a Wells' template, delivered a training session, had a team meeting with community nurses, audited their screening records and collected their feedback. Findings: There was a 74% increase in staff using the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and 100% documentation of DVT assessment, of which 82% used the Wells' score template. Purpose: This project explores the perceived implications of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and generative language tools, like ChatGPT, on practice in speechlanguage pathology. Method: A total of 107 clinician (n = 60) and student (n = 47) participants completed an 87-item survey that included Likert-style questions and open-ended qualitative responses. The survey explored participants' current frequency of use, experience with AI tools, ethical concerns, and concern with replacing clinicians, as well as likelihood to use in particular professional and clinical areas. Results were analyzed in the context of qualitative responses to typed-response open-ended questions. Results: A series of analyses indicated participants are somewhat knowledgeable and experienced with GPT software and other AI tools. Despite a positive outlook and the belief that AI tools are helpful for practice, programs like ChatGPT and other AI tools are infrequently used by speech-language pathologists and students for clinical purposes, mostly restricted to administrative tasks. Conclusion: While impressions of GPT and other AI tools cite the beneficial ways that AI tools can enhance a clinician's workloads, participants indicate a hesitancy to use AI tools and call for institutional guidelines and training for its adoption. Purpose: The primary aim of this study was to investigate how speechlanguage pathologists (SLPs) from Estonia, Finland, and Lithuania rate the significance of different features for diagnosing childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) in their languages. Method: An online survey was conducted among 197 Estonian, Finnish, and Lithuanian SLPs who have worked with children with CAS. The SLPs were asked to rate the significance of 63 features for CAS diagnosis in their respective language. Cross-linguistic patterns in diagnostic features were examined with simple correspondence analysis (SCA) and via descriptive statistics. Results: The ratings revealed six to seven diagnostic features that were considered very significant for CAS diagnosis by the majority of respondents in each country. The SCA highlighted differences between Lithuanian SLPs and Estonian and Finnish SLPs. Some possible language-specific associations were noted, such as palatalization errors for Lithuanian and Estonian and diphthong distortions for Estonian. The respondents from all countries rated highly those features that can easily be applied to most languages (e.g., groping) and gave lower ratings to features that may be influenced by the linguistic structure of different languages (e.g., word stress errors). Conclusions: Overall, SLPs provided high ratings to CAS features that occur universally across languages, whereas features specific to languages, such as prosody-related errors, were not as highly rated. Several language-specific features were highlighted, providing direction for future research and emphasizing the importance of language-specific considerations in CAS research and diagnosis. Calcium supplementation in pregnancy is recommended in contexts with low dietary calcium intake to reduce the risk of pre‐eclampsia and its complications. The World Health Organisation suggested high‐dose calcium supplementation (1500–2000 mg/day), divided into three doses and taken at different times from daily iron‐folic supplements. We conducted a mixed methods evaluation study to assess experiences, acceptability and barriers to high‐dose calcium supplementation from the perspectives of pregnant women and antenatal health care providers at two public health facilities in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Descriptive statistics and thematic analysis were used to characterise acceptability, barriers and overall experiences of using high‐dose calcium supplementation. Pregnant women in the cohort were aged 19–41 years, with 32.4% being primiparous. The proportion of pregnant women who liked calcium supplements 'a lot' decreased from 50.2% at the first visit to 31.8% at the last antenatal follow‐up visit. Adherence was 71.3% (interquartile range: 50.5%, 89.3%), with only 24.0% of the participants taking 90% or more of the required supplements. Although participants expressed positive attitudes towards using calcium supplements, they also voiced concerns about the large size, side effects, the potential to forget and the burden of taking calcium supplements three times per day. Antenatal health care providers also affirmed the high burden of taking calcium supplements in addition to iron‐folic acid supplements. Participants expressed the acceptability of using calcium supplements during pregnancy, but adherence to three doses per day posed challenges to pregnant women. Reducing the number of calcium supplement doses per day may improve adherence. Key messages: Context‐specific data regarding acceptability and adherence is important for successful implementation, uptake and scale‐up of nutritional interventions.High‐dose antenatal calcium supplementation was acceptable. However, adherence to three doses per day was challenging for pregnant women. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of Meaning-Centered Group Psychotherapy (MCGP) on promoting meaning in the lives of individuals with spinal cord injury. This single-blind study was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test, follow-up, and experimental and control groups. Forty-three Iranian patients with poor meaning in life were selected by purposive sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group received MCGP, while the control group received no intervention. The data were collected by the Meaning in Life Questionnaire and analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance. The results revealed significant differences between the post-test and follow-up scores of the experimental and control groups regarding the presence of meaning in life and the search for meaning in life. Also, no significant difference was found between the post-test and follow-up scores of the experimental group, which demonstrated the stability of the treatment effects. Aim: To measure therapeutic engagement in adult acute inpatient wards in Finland from the perspectives of service users and nurses using the Therapeutic Engagement Questionnaire (TEQ) and to identify areas where the quality of this engagement may be enhanced. Method: Nurses (n =47) and service users (n=123) from 13 acute inpatient wards in two healthcare organisations in Finland – Helsinki University Hospital (which oversees 23 hospitals in different locations) and Aurora Hospital, a municipal psychiatric hospital in Helsinki – completed the TEQ. The TEQ is designed specifically for use in acute mental health inpatient settings to objectively measure nurses’ therapeutic contribution to service users’ recovery, as perceived by both groups, and to give service users an active voice regarding their care pathway. Respondents rate a series of statements, two on a visual analogue scale and 40 on a four-point Likert scale. Higher scores indicate better therapeutic engagement. Statements with the greatest number of ‘strongly disagree’ responses indicate potential areas for improvement. Results: Both groups of respondents highly rated the effects of nursing staff and named nurses on service users’ recovery through therapeutic engagement, overall ward environment and atmosphere, preserving service users’ dignity and nurses’ professional behaviour. Low ratings were awarded by both groups to nursing staff’s and named nurses’ support with planned care risks and stepping out of their (service users’) comfort zone, and fostering service users’ confidence to create practical and realistic care plans for achieving their goals. Statements with the greatest number of ‘strongly disagree’ ratings by service users included that ‘[my named nurse] works with me to plan my care in advance of me being unwell’ and ‘[the nursing staff] help me to have control over my care plan’. Conclusion: Service users and nurses regard therapeutic engagement as important in supporting service users’ recovery. However, nurses should be supported to develop collaborative, practical and realistic care plans that support service users with planned care risks, expand their care comfort zone and incorporate advance care planning should the service user become unwell. This study aimed to determine the attitudes of university students toward domestic violence. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study. The sample of this study consisted of 900 students enrolled in a public university's nursing and forestry faculties. The data of the study were collected by the authors in Istanbul between December 2018 and March 2019. A Participant Introduction Form and the Attitudes toward Domestic Violence Scale were used to collect data. The participants' mean Attitudes toward Domestic Violence Scale score was found to be 19.90 ± 5.58. A small percentage of the participants was found to have a supportive attitude toward domestic violence. Furthermore, this study revealed a statistically significant relationship between attitudes toward domestic violence and sociodemographic factors such as gender, department of study, region of birth, longest-lived area, place of residence, and family income. The attitudes of society toward domestic violence, as well as the factors that influence these attitudes, should be determined to prevent and eliminate domestic violence. Nurses who interact with the public on a routine basis should take an active position in research and training programs aimed at eradicating approving attitudes regarding domestic violence. This study aimed to evaluate the vulnerability perceptions of healthcare mothers with children aged between 4–8 years. The population (n = 589) of the study was all healthcare workers in a hospital, while the sample (n = 342) included the healthcare worker mothers who volunteered to participate in the study, have child are 4–8 age, who could be reached through social media. According to the participants, they needed psychological support and the measures taken for COVID-19 were inadequate. The study found that the participants' perception of vulnerability was high and that the participants who were in the 21–35 age group and who needed psychological support had high vulnerability perception. In conclusion, this study underlined some of the difficulties experienced by healthcare workers and revealed that their perception of vulnerability was high. Background: In Confucian-influenced Asian societies, explicit end-of-life conversations are uncommon and family involvement in decision-making is crucial, which complicates the adoption of culturally sensitive advance care planning. Aim: To develop a consensus definition of advance care planning and provide recommendations for patient-centered and family-based initiatives in Asia. Design: A five-round Delphi study was performed. The rating of a definition and 84 recommendations developed based on systematic reviews was performed by experts with clinical or research expertise using a 7-point Likert scale. A median = 1 and an inter-quartile range = 0–1 were considered very strong agreement and very strong consensus, respectively. Setting/participants: The Delphi study was carried out by multidisciplinary experts on advance care planning in five Asian sectors (Hong Kong/Japan/Korea/Singapore/Taiwan). Results: Seventy-seven of 115 (67%) experts rated the statements. Advance care planning is defined as "a process that enables individuals to identify their values, to define goals and preferences for future medical treatment and care, to discuss these values, goals, and preferences with family and/or other closely related persons, and health-care providers, and to record and review these preferences if appropriate." Recommendations in the domains of considerations for a person-centered and family-based approach, as well as elements, roles and tasks, timing for initiative, policy and regulation, and evaluations received high levels of agreement and consensus. Conclusions: Our definition and recommendations can guide practice, education, research, and policy-making in advance care planning for Asian populations. Objective: To examine the association between positive psychological capital, social support, illness attitudes toward COVID‐19, and health‐promoting behaviors in Korean adults. Design: An online cross‐sectional study. Sample: The participants were 820 South Korean adults aged 19–64, recruited through quota sampling. The sample was census‐matched in terms of age and gender based on the Korean Population Census. Measurements: The participants completed measures assessing psychological capital, social support, illness attitude toward COVID‐19, and health‐promoting behaviors. The t‐test, one‐way analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation, and multiple stepwise regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: Participants who were religious, perceived themselves as physically healthy, had negative illness attitudes, had high positive psychological capital, and received high social support were more likely to engage in health‐promoting behaviors. These variables explained 44.5% of the participants' health‐promoting behaviors. Conclusions: This study is the first to examine illness attitudes toward COVID‐19 and health‐promoting behaviors among South Korean adults during the COVID‐19 pandemic. The results can pave the way for effective public health intervention strategies that consider religiosity, physical health status, illness attitude, and social support, to promote healthy living during future public health crises.
