In this period when the global power competition has increased considerably, the USA and China, two important actors in the world, are facing each other on many issues. An important issue that has brought the two great powers face to face in recent times has been the power struggle in the seas. Especially the shift of power to the Asia-Pacific geography has led the USA to turn to the region. The interests of China, which has started to rise in Asia and recorded a steady growth, and the USA, which does not want to lose its superpower position, coincide in this geography. The South China Sea, with its geopolitical importance, underground resources, biodiversity and important position in maritime trade, has dragged the USA and China into a geopolitical rivalry in the Western Pacific. The South China Sea, which is the scene of struggle between the countries of the region and the great powers, is becoming an even more unstable region with increasing conflicts. In addition to its individual initiatives, the USA is trying to surround China and limit Chinese sovereignty in the region with its bilateral and multilateral alliances in the region. In the study, the China-US struggle in the South China Sea will be tried to be discussed with the moves of the two countries towards each other in the region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
