The effect of switching from lithium immediate release (Li-IR) to lithium prolonged release (Li-PR) on lithium-induced tremor after 1 and 12 weeks of treatment was evaluated in a randomized, multicenter, open trial, in bipolar patients from the participating sites with a tremor severity ≥2 (Udvalg for Kliniske Undersøgelser [UKU] rating scale) despite optimal lithium titration.The primary endpoint was the evaluation of tremor by means of the UKU scale after 1 week of treatment. Secondary endpoints included manic Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) and depressive symptoms (Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale), a global assessment of the patient's status (Clinical Global Impression), polyuria/polydipsia (UKU item 3.8) and patient-reported outcomes.Owing to difficulties in including suitable patients the enrollment phase was closed when 73 patients were randomized. Notwithstanding the lower number of patients, in the modified intention-to-treat population (n = 70) the primary endpoint was statistically significant: tremor improved after 1 week in 62.9% in Li-PR group against 20.0% of patients in Li-IR group (p = .0006; two-tailed Fisher's exact test). The difference remained statistically significant after 4 (p = .0031) and 12 weeks (p = .0128). The same analysis performed in the PP population confirmed these results. Among the secondary endpoints, only the factor convenience of the treatment satisfaction questionnaire showed a statistically significant difference between groups. There were no apparent differences in the safety profile of the two formulations.This study is the first comparative documentation of a potential benefit of the prolonged-release formulation in reducing the symptom tremor, a well-known adverse effect of lithium therapy. Indeed, the study results should be interpreted taking into account the sample size lower than planned.

Il decimo convegno annuale dell'Associazione per l’Informatica Umanistica e la Cultura Digitale ha nell’edizione 2021 un titolo peculiare e importante: "DH per la società: e-guaglianza, partecipazione, diritti e valori nell’era digitale". Questo volume raccoglie gli abstract estesi e sottoposti a review per la conferenza di AIUCD2021 tenutasi in forma virtuale a Pisa.

I contributi, in versione estesa, della mancata conferenza italiana di Public History di Venezia e Mestre che si sarebbe dovuta tenere nel giugno del 2020 (annullata a causa della pandemia) sono ora pubblicati in un volume in formato elettronico.

Lo studio delle fonti, la didattica e il rapporto vitale ma spesso complicato con il mondo accademico. Fino a un questionario su scala nazionale, diretto a rievocatori, figuranti, ricostruttori, artigiani, esperti di living history, docenti universitari, professori delle scuole superiori ed operatori museali. Per provare ad analizzare nel modo pi�� scientifico possibile quali relazioni intercorrano tra i diversi gruppi dell'affascinante e colorato mondo della rievocazione storica.

Ripercorrendo il processo di edizione digitale del Codice Pelavicino, si intende ragionare sugli strumenti di consultazione e di corredo che possono offrire questo tipo di edizioni e sulle problematiche connesse in termini di codifica, visualizzazione, facilità d’uso, rapporto con l’utenza. Il contributo rielabora di quanto presentato al webinar “Fonti archivistiche medievali nel digitale. La sfida di trattare e visualizzare dati semi-strutturati”, organizzato il 22-23 giugno 2020 dal Laboratorio di Cultura Digitale (Università di Pisa) e dal responsabile del progetto Engineering Historical Memory e allo scopo di promuovere future iniziative di collaborazione e sperimentazione nel campo dell’elaborazione ed estrazione di informazioni da edizioni semi-strutturate di documenti archivistici., Umanistica Digitale, No. 10 (2021)

Fruit d’un colloque international réuni à la Casa de Velázquez (Madrid) du 11 au 13 avril 2005, ce volume propose de lire l’histoire de la guerre sainte de façon moins linéaire que de coutume, en acceptant les ruptures, les discontinuités et les nombreux aménagements qui ont été rendus nécessaires par les usages multiples, contradictoires et parfois concurrents de cette notion. À partir d’un fonds commun de principes surgis à la charnière de l’Antiquité et du Moyen Âge, contenus dans les traditions politiques et religieuses des royaumes chrétiens, l’idée de guerre sainte a été périodiquement ravivée et chaque fois reconstruite à la mesure des besoins de ceux qui la sollicitaient et de leur environnement historique. Elle s’est aussi enrichie. L’appel de Clermont, en 1095, qui suscite la Première croisade et conduit à la conquête de Jérusalem par les Latins ne met pas fin à ce processus. Certes, il devient impossible, à partir du XIIe siècle, d’échapper totalement au modèle de guerre sainte forgé par la papauté, qui, pour l’imposer, dispose d’un contrôle sans précédent sur les mécanismes de sanctification et de pénitence. Cependant, durant tout le Moyen Âge, le référent pontifical qu’est la croisade n’est jamais figé et demeure perméable à tous les aménagements au bénéfice de ceux, rois et princes d’Occident, qui s’en réclament et se l’approprient. En admettant la diversité de la notion de guerre sainte et en croisant les regards portés sur elle, les spécialistes dont les contributions se trouvent ici rassemblées participent de façon importante au renouvellement d’un domaine de recherche qui a été le théâtre, depuis quelques années, de grandes controverses.

Interdisciplinarity is becoming increasingly important in education. With the rapidly evolving job market, an interdisciplinary education can prepare students for the flexibility and broad knowledge base required to adapt. At the University of Pisa, we recognized the value of an interdisciplinary educational environment during our participation in the European project EINFOSE, where we harmonized the entry requirements for master programs in Information Science. Prior to this project, we had been building study programs in Digital Humanities and Data Science, whose intersection organically nurtured a diverse learning space. Through this lens, we will reflect on the obstacles constituted by disciplinary barriers and stress the importance of a flexible and open ‘ecosystem’ for education. These conclusions will be supported by data analysis on the careers of our students over the last eight years.

The authors present the outcomes of an educational experimentation that took place in the academic year 2018-2019 at the degree course in Informatica Umanistica at the University of Pisa. The first objective of the project concerned the digitization of a corpus of postcards from the period of the First World War owned by the ethnographic Museum of La Spezia “G. Podenzana”. The aims of the work are not only the historical study of the corpus, but also the organization of a public history project with the Museum., Gli autori presentano i risultati di una sperimentazione didattica svolta durante l’anno accademico 2018-2019 presso il Corso di Laurea in Informatica Umanistica dell’Università di Pisa. Il primo obiettivo del progetto riguarda la digitalizzazione di un corpus di cartoline del periodo della Prima Guerra Mondiale, di proprietà del Museo Etnografico di La Spezia “G. Podenzana”. Gli obiettivi del lavoro non sono solo lo studio storico del corpus, ma anche l’organizzazione di un progetto di Public History con il Museo.

L'isolamento imposto dalla pandemia del Covid-19 ha obbligato le università a dotarsi rapidamente di strumenti atti a consentire la prosecuzione dell'attività didattica a distanza. Interventi più disordinati e spontanei, tesi al medesimo scopo, sono stati attuati anche nel mondo della scuola. La comunità degli umanisti digitali e buona parte dei docenti, anche quelli prima blandamente o scarsamente interessati all’e-learning, hanno cominciato a riflettere sulle potenzialità e quindi sulle strategie per rendere efficace l’insegnamento con gli strumenti digitali genericamente intesi. Il 25 marzo 2020, all’interno del Seminario di Cultura Digitale (corso istituzionale del Cdl magistrale in Informatica Umanistica dell’Università di Pisa), si è tenuto un dialogo telematico tra i due relatori, teso non a valutare l’efficacia dei mezzi adottati dai diversi enti formativi, ma a discutere le metodologie, le buone pratiche e gli strumenti necessari per attuarle, mettendo a disposizione le competenze e le conoscenze che, in qualità di umanisti digitali ed esperti in tecnologie dell’apprendimento, hanno maturato negli anni. Quello che segue è l’elaborazione del seminario a seguito delle osservazioni raccolte.
