Abstract: The present work continues a series of the KEDR measurements of the R value that started in 2010 at the VEPP-4M e+e− collider. By combining new data with our previous results in this energy range we measured the values of Ruds and R at nine center-of-mass energies between 3.08 and 3.72 GeV. The total accuracy is about or better than 2.6% at most of energy points with a systematic uncertainty of about 1.9%. Together with the previous precise R measurement at KEDR in the energy range 1.84–3.05 GeV, it constitutes the most detailed high-precision R measurement near the charmonium production threshold.

Abstract: The product of the electronic width of the ψ(2S) meson and the branching fraction of its decay to the muon pair was measured in the e+e−→ψ(2S)→μ+μ− process using nine data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 6.5 pb−1 collected with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M electron–positron collider:Γee×Bμμ=19.3±0.3±0.5eV. Adding the previous KEDR results on hadronic and leptonic channels, the values of the ψ(2S) electronic width were obtained under two assumptions: either with the assumption of lepton universalityΓee=2.279±0.015±0.042keV or without it, summing up hadronic and three independent leptonic channelsΓee=2.282±0.015±0.042keV. Abstract: Using a data sample of 7.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider we select about 2900 events of the process e+e−→pp¯ and measure its cross section at 12 energy points with about 6% systematic uncertainty. From the angular distribution of produced nucleons we obtain the ratio GE/GM.

Abstract: We present the analysis of all KEDR data on the determination of J/ψ and ψ(2S) masses. The data comprise six scans of J/ψ and seven scans of ψ(2S) which were performed at the VEPP-4M e+e− collider in 2002–2008. The beam energy was determined using the resonance depolarization method. The detector and accelerator conditions during scans were very different that increases the reliability of the averaged results. The analysis accounts for partial correlations of systematic uncertainties on the masses. The following mass values were obtained:MJ/ψ=3096.900±0.002±0.006 MeV,Mψ(2S)=3686.099±0.004±0.009 MeV. These results supersede our previous measurements published in 2003 and 2012.

Abstract: Using the inclusive photon spectrum based on a data sample collected at the J/ψ peak with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+e− collider, we measured the rate of the radiative decay J/ψ→γηc as well as ηc mass and width. Taking into account an asymmetric photon lineshape we obtained Γγηc0=2.98±0.18−0.33+0.15keV, Mηc=2983.5±1.4−3.6+1.6MeV/c2, Γηc=27.2±3.1−2.6+5.4MeV. Keywords: Charmonium, Radiative decays

Abstract: The antiproton experiment PANDA at FAIR is designed to bring hadron physics to a new level in terms of scope, precision and accuracy. In this work, its unique capability for studies of hyperons is outlined. We discuss ground-state hyperons as diagnostic tools to study non-perturbative aspects of the strong interaction, and fundamental symmetries. New simulation studies have been carried out for two benchmark hyperon-antihyperon production channels: $\bar{p}p \to \bar{\Lambda}\Lambda$ and $\bar{p}p \to \bar{\Xi}^+\Xi^-$. The results, presented in detail in this paper, show that hyperon-antihyperon pairs from these reactions can be exclusively reconstructed with high efficiency and very low background contamination. In addition, the polarisation and spin correlations have been studied, exploiting the weak, self-analysing decay of hyperons and antihyperons. Two independent approaches to the finite efficiency have been applied and evaluated: one standard multidimensional efficiency correction approach, and one efficiency independent approach. The applicability of the latter was thoroughly evaluated for all channels, beam momenta and observables. The standard method yields good results in all cases, and shows that spin observables can be studied with high precision and accuracy already in the first phase of data taking with PANDA., Comment: 26 pages, 16 figures. Abstract: The Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) in Darmstadt, Germany, provides unique possibilities for a new generation of hadron-, nuclear- and atomic physics experiments. The future antiProton ANnihilations at DArmstadt (PANDA or $$\overline{\mathrm{P}}$$ P ¯ ANDA) experiment at FAIR will offer a broad physics programme, covering different aspects of the strong interaction. Understanding the latter in the non-perturbative regime remains one of the greatest challenges in contemporary physics. The antiproton–nucleon interaction studied with PANDA provides crucial tests in this area. Furthermore, the high-intensity, low-energy domain of PANDA allows for searches for physics beyond the Standard Model, e.g. through high precision symmetry tests. This paper takes into account a staged approach for the detector setup and for the delivered luminosity from the accelerator. The available detector setup at the time of the delivery of the first antiproton beams in the HESR storage ring is referred to as the Phase One setup. The physics programme that is achievable during Phase One is outlined in this paper.

Abstract: The product of the electronic width of the ψ(2S) meson and the branching fraction of its decay to the muon pair was measured in the e + e − → ψ (2S) → μ + μ − process using nine data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 6.5 pb−1 collected with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M electron–positron collider: Γ e e × B μ μ = 19.3 ± 0.3 ± 0.5 eV . Adding the previous KEDR results on hadronic and leptonic channels, the values of the ψ(2S) electronic width were obtained under two assumptions: either with the assumption of lepton universality Γ e e = 2.279 ± 0.015 ± 0.042 keV or without it, summing up hadronic and three independent leptonic channels Γ e e = 2.282 ± 0.015 ± 0.042 keV .

Abstract: The present work continues a series of the KEDR measurements of the $R$ value that started in 2010 at the VEPP-4M $e^+e^-$ collider. By combining new data with our previous results in this energy range we measured the values of $R_{\text{uds}}$ and $R$ at nine center-of-mass energies between 3.08 and 3.72 GeV. The total accuracy is about or better than $2.6\%$ at most of energy points with a systematic uncertainty of about $1.9\%$. Together with the previous precise $R$ measurement at KEDR in the energy range 1.84-3.05 GeV, it constitutes the most detailed high-precision $R$ measurement near the charmonium production threshold., arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1610.02827 and substantial text overlap with arXiv:1510.02667

Abstract: Using a data sample of 7.7 pb − 1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider we select about 2900 events of the process e + e − → p p ¯ and measure its cross section at 12 energy points with about 6% systematic uncertainty. From the angular distribution of produced nucleons we obtain the ratio G E / G M .

Abstract: We present the analysis of all KEDR data on the determination of J / ψ and ψ ( 2 S ) masses. The data comprise six scans of J / ψ and seven scans of ψ ( 2 S ) which were performed at the VEPP-4M e + e − collider in 2002–2008. The beam energy was determined using the resonance depolarization method. The detector and accelerator conditions during scans were very different that increases the reliability of the averaged results. The analysis accounts for partial correlations of systematic uncertainties on the masses. The following mass values were obtained: M J / ψ = 3096.900 ± 0.002 ± 0.006 MeV , M ψ ( 2 S ) = 3686.099 ± 0.004 ± 0.009 MeV . These results supersede our previous measurements published in 2003 and 2012.

Abstract: A time-of-flight detector based on microchannel plates (MCP) is under development. The main goal is the creation of a radiation hard large area detector providing ∼ 10 ps time resolution for single charged particle in strong magnetic field. Conceptually, the detector consists of Cherenkov radiator covered with semitransparent photocathode followed by a chevron pair of MCPs. The detector design and the status of the development are reported.

The uncertainties shown are statistical and systematic, respectively. Using the result presented and the world-average value of the electronic branching fraction, one obtains the total width of the J/ψ meson: $$ \Gamma =92.94\pm 1.83\kern0.5em \mathrm{keV}. $$ Γ = 92.94 ± 1.83 keV . These results are consistent with the previous experiments.

Abstract: Using the inclusive photon spectrum based on a data sample collected at the J / ψ peak with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e + e − collider, we measured the rate of the radiative decay J / ψ → γ η c as well as η c mass and width. Taking into account an asymmetric photon lineshape we obtained Γ γ η c 0 = 2.98 ± 0.18 − 0.33 + 0.15 keV , M η c = 2983.5 ± 1.4 − 3.6 + 1.6 MeV / c 2 , Γ η c = 27.2 ± 3.1 − 2.6 + 5.4 MeV .

Abstract: We present physical motivations and advantages of the new gamma-observatory TAIGA (Tunka Advanced Instrument for cosmic ray physics and gamma-ray astronomy). TAIGA will be located in the Tunka valley, 50 km to the west of Lake Baikal, at the same place as the integrating air Cherenkov detector for cosmic rays Tunka-133. The TAIGA array is a complex, hybrid detector for ground-based gamma-ray astronomy for energies from a few TeV to several PeV as well as for cosmic ray studies from 100 TeV to several EeV. The array will consist of a wide angle Cherenkov array – TAIGA-HiSCORE with 5km2 area, a net of 16 IACT telescopes (with FOV of about 9.72°×9.72°) as well as muon and other detectors. We present the current status of the array construction.

Abstract: The ratio of the electron and muon widths of the J / ψ meson has been measured using direct J / ψ decays in the KEDR experiment at the VEPP-4M electron–positron collider. The result Γ e + e − ( J / ψ ) / Γ μ + μ − ( J / ψ ) = 1.0022 ± 0.0044 ± 0.0048 ( 0.65 % ) is in good agreement with the lepton universality. The experience collected during this analysis will be used for J / ψ lepton width determination with up to 1% accuracy.

Abstract: Using the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e + e − collider, we have determined the values of R at thirteen points of the center-of-mass energy between 1.84 and 3.05 GeV. The achieved accuracy is about or better than 3.9 % at most of the energy points with a systematic uncertainty less than 2.4 % .

Abstract: A high-precision determination of the main parameters of the ψ ( 2 S ) resonance has been performed with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e + e − collider in three scans of the ψ ( 2 S ) – ψ ( 3770 ) energy range. Fitting the energy dependence of the multihadron cross section in the vicinity of the ψ ( 2 S ) we obtained the mass value M = 3686.114 ± 0.007 ± 0.011 − 0.012 + 0.002 MeV and the product of the electron partial width by the branching fraction into hadrons Γ e e × B h = 2.233 ± 0.015 ± 0.037 ± 0.020 keV . The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The third uncertainty quoted is an estimate of the model dependence of the result due to assumptions on the interference effects in the cross section of the single-photon e + e − annihilation to hadrons explicitly considered in this work. Implicitly, the same assumptions were employed to obtain the charmonium leptonic width and the absolute branching fractions in many experiments. Using the result presented and the world average values of the electron and hadron branching fractions, one obtains the electron partial width and the total width of the ψ ( 2 S ) : Γ e e = 2.282 ± 0.015 ± 0.038 ± 0.021 keV , Γ = 296 ± 2 ± 8 ± 3 keV . These results are consistent with and more than two times more precise than any of the previous experiments.

Abstract: We project the performance of the ATLAS liquid argon endcap and forward calorimeters at the planned high luminosity LHC option HL-LHC by exposing small calorimeter modules of the electromagnetic, hadronic, and forward calorimeters to high intensity beams at IHEP/Protvino. The beam intensity extends well beyond the maximum expected for these calorimeters at HL-LHC. The signal reconstruction and calorimeter performance have been studied in full detail.

Abstract: We report results of a search for narrow resonances in e + e − annihilation at center-of-mass energies between 1.85 and 3.1 GeV performed with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e + e − collider. The upper limit on the leptonic width of a narrow resonance Γ e e R ⋅ Br ( R → h a d r ) 120 eV has been obtained (at 90% C.L.).

We measure the branching fraction of the radiative decay J/ψ → ηcγ, ηc width and mass. Abstract: The products of the electron width of the J/ψ meson and the branching fraction of its decays to the lepton pairs were measured using data from the KEDR experiment at the VEPP-4M electron–positron collider. The results are Γee×Γee/Γ=0.3323±0.0064(stat.)±0.0048(syst.) keV, Γee×Γμμ/Γ=0.3318±0.0052(stat.)±0.0063(syst.) keV. Their combinations Γee×(Γee+Γμμ)/Γ=0.6641±0.0082(stat.)±0.0100(syst.) keV, Γee/Γμμ=1.002±0.021(stat.)±0.013(syst.) can be used to improve the accuracy of the leptonic and full widths and test leptonic universality.

Abstract: Since 2010 the CMD-3 detector has been collecting data at the e + e − collider VEPP-2000 at Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics. CMD-3 is a general purpose detector designed to study e + e − annihilation into hadrons in the wide energy range s = 0.3 – 2 GeV . The CMD-3 barrel electromagnetic calorimeter consists of two subsystems: closest to the beam pipe is the Liquid Xenon calorimeter and the outer one is based on CsI scintillation crystals. The design of the calorimeter and its current performance are presented.

Abstract: The status of the experiment on the precise $\tau$ lepton mass measurement running at the VEPP-4M collider with the KEDR detector is reported. The mass value is evaluated from the $\tau^+\tau^-$ cross section behaviour around the production threshold. The preliminary result based on 6.7 pb$^{-1}$ of data is $m_{\tau}=1776.80^{+0.25}_{-0.23} \pm 0.15$ MeV. Using 0.8 pb$^{-1}$ of data collected at the $\psi'$ peak the preliminary result is also obtained: $\Gamma_{ee}B_{\tau\tau}(\psi') = 7.2 \pm 2.1$ eV., Comment: 6 pages, 8 figures; The 9th International Workshop on Tau-Lepton Physics, Tau06

Abstract: The first results of the luminosity measurement with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider are presented. The luminosity was measured using two different processes e + e − → e + e − and e + e − → γ γ , that allowed to better understand and estimate the systematic accuracy which was found to be ∼2%. The analysis of the data was done on the integrated luminosity about 20 pb−1. A Monte-Carlo Generator Photon Jets (MCGPJ) [A.Arbuzov et al., EPJ C46, 689 (2006); S.Actis et al., EPJ C66, 585 (2010)] to simulate Bhabha scattering events as well as production of two photons was adopted for analysis of the data. A theoretical precision of these cross sections with radiative corrections (RC) is estimated to be better than 0.2%.

Abstract: Performance of the superconducting coil for the KEDR detector is presented. The coil with a diameter of 3 m and 3 m length has been designed for magnetic field up to 1.8 T. The coil has 568 turns of NbTi/Cu cable fixed by soldering (PbSn alloy is used) on the inner wall of the stainless-steel cooling bath. The specific features of this system are the protection of the solenoid by distributed resistance and the power supply being a fluxpump type. The radiation thickness of the solenoid and the E/M ratio are 0.95 X/sub 0/ and 7.8 kJ/kg, respectively. The cryogenic supply system of the KEDR detector has a helium refrigerator with cooling power of 600 W at the temperature of 4.5 K. The main superconducting solenoid and cryogenic system were successfully tested up to 0.7 T and ready for physic experiments with KEDR detector at e/sup +/ e/sup -/ -collider VEPP-4M.

Abstract: This paper describes the superconducting magnet system of the CMD-2 detector. The magnetic field is provided by the main and two compensating superconducting solenoids. The unique features of this system are the solenoids protection method utilizing a distributed resistance along the coil and the power supply being a fluxpump type. The main solenoid produces a field up to 1.2 T in a volume of /spl phi/ 0.71 m/spl times/0.9 m. Its radiation thickness and E/M ratio are 0.38 X/sub 0/ and 5 kJ/kg, respectively. NbTi/Cu superconducting cables without any insulation and an aluminum stabilizer were used for the design of solenoid coils. The superconducting cable was wound in a stainless-steel bobbin and soldered by a PbSn alloy. The cooling bath provides a temperature of 4.2 K in the system. The superconducting magnet system of the CMD-2 detector was manufactured and tested in 1989.

Abstract: Two e^+e^- colliders, VEPP-4M and VEPP2000, are taking data at the Budker INP in Novosibirsk, Russia. KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M collider continues deliver precision measurements of the charmonium family. Results of the psi(2S ) and psi(3770) study are presented. Two energy scans of a center-of-mass energy range from 1 GeV to 2 GeV has been performed by the VEPP2000 collider with an integrated luminosity of about 35 pb^-1, collected by each of the CMD-3 and SND detectors. This paper reports the latest results from VEPP-2000 obtained by the CMD-3 collaboration.

Abstract: A calorimeter using 30 tons of liquid krypton for the KEDR detector is being constructed. The main effects which determine the energy and space resolution have been studied. An energy resolution of 1.7% at 1.2 GeV was obtained with the prototype. A space resolution of 0.4 mm for relativistic particles has been reached with the prototype.

Abstract: In this paper it is shown that a measurement of the relative luminosity changes at the LHC may be obtained by analysing the currents drawn from the high voltage power supplies of the electromagnetic section of the forward calorimeter of the ATLAS detector. The method was verified with a reproduction of a small section of the ATLAS forward calorimeter using proton beams of known beam energies and variable intensities at the U-70 accelerator at IHEP in Protvino, Russia. The experimental setup and the data taking during a test beam run in April 2008 are described in detail. A comparison of the measured high voltage currents with reference measurements from beam intensity monitors shows a linear dependence on the beam intensity. Abstract: The liquid krypton calorimeter for the KEDR-VEPP-4M experiment is described. The experimental results with a prototype, obtained at the tagged photon beam of VEPP-4M in the photon energy region between 50 and 4500 MeV, are presented. The results on the energy resolution are in a good agreement with the Monte-Carlo expectations and are equal to 6% and 2% at 100 and 1000 MeV respectively. The spatial resolution is about 1–1.5 mm in a wide energy region and agrees with the expected spatial resolution.

Abstract: Since 2004 the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M collider has taken several data sets in the ψ(2S) region, acquiring total luminosity of about 7 pb-1, which corresponds to more than 3.5 × 106ψ(2S). We report the preliminary value of Γee × Γμμ/Γ = 19.4 ± 0.4 ± 1.1 eV for ψ(2S).

Abstract: The detector KEDR will be used in high-energy physics experiments on the storage ring VEPP-4M. The authors describe the KEDR magnetic system, which consists of a main superconducting coil, compensating superconducting solenoids, and an iron yoke closing the magnetic flux. The main superconducting coil is a one-layer solenoid of 3-m diameter and 3-m length with an inductance of 1.2 H, an effective field of 2 T, and a stored energy of 42 MJ. The superconducting coil is wound around and soldered to the inner surface of a ringlike helium vessel and is cooled indirectly through a 10-mm stainless steel wall of the vessel. A superconducting flux pump supplies the coil with 8-kA current. The iron yoke provides the required uniformity of the field. The compensating superconducting solenoids have a length of 450 mm, a diameter of 120 mm, and a magnetic field of 6.7 T. The total weight of KEDR is approximately 1000 tons. >

Abstract: A new general‐purpose detector CMD‐2 (calorimetric magnetic detector) has started experiments at the upgraded e+e− collider VEPP‐2M (collider for electron‐positron beams) at Novosibirsk. During early runs an integrated luminosity of about 400 inverse nanobarns has been collected in the center of mass energy range 400–1030 MeV.

Abstract: We report the final results of a study of the ψ ( 3770 ) meson using a data sample collected with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M electron–positron collider. The data analysis takes into account interference between the resonant and nonresonant D D ¯ production, where the latter is related to the nonresonant part of the energy-dependent form factor F D . The vector dominance approach and several empirical parameterizations have been tried for the nonresonant F D N R ( s ) . Our results for the mass and total width of ψ ( 3770 ) are M = 3779.2 − 1.7 + 1.8 − 0.7 + 0.5 − 0.3 + 0.3 MeV , Γ = 24.9 − 4.0 + 4.6 − 0.6 + 0.5 − 0.9 + 0.2 MeV , where the first, second and third uncertainties are statistical, systematic and model, respectively. For the electron partial width two possible solutions have been found: ( 1 ) Γ e e = 154 − 58 + 79 − 9 + 17 − 25 + 13 eV , ( 2 ) Γ e e = 414 − 80 + 72 − 26 + 24 − 10 + 90 eV . Our statistics are insufficient to prefer one solution to another. The Solution (2) mitigates the problem of non- D D ¯ decays but is disfavored by potential models. It is shown that taking into account the resonance–continuum interference in the near-threshold region affects resonance parameters, thus the results presented cannot be directly compared with the corresponding PDG values obtained ignoring this effect.

Abstract: Using a data sample of 7.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider we select about 2900 events of the process e+e−→pp¯ and measure its cross section at 12 energy points with about 6% systematic uncertainty. From the angular distribution of produced nucleons we obtain the ratio GE/GM.
