The cross section of the process e+ e– → π+ π– π0 was measured with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 in the ω meson energy region based on the data collected in 2013–2018 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 40 pb–1. The parameters of the ω-meson: Mω = 782.67 ± 0.01 ± 0.1 MeV, Γω = 8.56 ± 0.02 ± 0.07 MeV, σ0(ω → π+ π– π) = 1629 ± 3 ± 36 nb with the precision match or even exceeding the previous data are obtained.

Background. The role of pathological response, which develops as a result of systemic therapy for localized and locally advanced high risk prostate cancer, is not still fully understood. There are no clear indications for neoadjuvant therapy and no data on the relationship between neoadjuvant therapy and median of overall or progression free survival. According to increasing interest for neoadjuvant chemohormonal therapy followed by radical prostatectomy, we evaluated the features of pathological response and its effects on overall and progression free survival rates.Objective. Estimating residual disease and pathologic response to neoadjuvant therapy of high risk prostate cancer and its relationship with oncological results.Materials and methods. This was a prospective randomized study: patients with prostate cancer of high and very high-risk groups (prostate specific antigen levels >20 ng/ml and/or Gleason score ≥8 and/or clinical stage ≥T2c) were treated with neoadjuvant chemohormonal therapy followed by radical prostatectomy (n = 36). The neoadjuvant course included the intravenous administration of docetaxel once every 21 days (75 mg/m2 up to 6 cycles) and the antagonist of the gonadotropin releasing hormone degarelix according to the standard scheme (6subcutaneous injections every 28 days). The prostate tissue was evaluated for the residual disease, features of pathological response according to the ABC system. Additionally, the expression of IHC markers (p53, bcl-2, p16, Ki-67, androgen receptors, c-MYC, ERG, PTEN) was evaluated on postoperative material using tissue microarray.Results. A totally of 480 H&Epostoperative and 775 H&E biopsy slides were analyzed. Group A included 10 (32.3 %) cases, group B — 16 (51.6 %), and group C — 5 (16.1 %). The variance analysis revealed a significant difference in the frequency of more localized forms of prostate cancer in group B (43.7 %) (p = 0.028). During assessment we did not found any relationship ABC system assignment and preoperative prostate specific antigen level, the presence of a positive surgical margin, the pathological stage of diseases or regional lymph nodes involvement. However, the values of relapse-free survival vary sharply between groups: the highest median of relapse-free survival was found in group B — 23.02 ± 12.61 months, patients of groups A/C could not achieve the level of median relapse-free survival — 11.7 ± 6.43 and 16.19 ± 16.54 months respectively.Conclusion. The effectiveness of neoadjuvant chemohormonal therapy for high risk prostate cancer can be assessed by the features of pathologic response through ABC system which has demonstrated own versatility and reproducibility in presented material. Neoadjuvant therapy with docetaxel and degarelix can improve the treatment outcomes of prostate cancer patients at high and very high risk of disease progression. The data on changes in the prostate tissue can be helpful in predicting the duration of the effect after chemohormonal therapy with subsequent surgery.

As option for this treatment is neoadjuvant chemohormonal therapy (NCHT) followed by radical prostatectomy (RPE). However, data on the oncological results of treatment of such patients are still limited and the role of neoadjuvant therapy in the treatment of high and very high-risk PCa remains not fully understood.Objective:toassesstheoncologicalresultsoftreatmentpatientswithlocalizedandlocallyadvancedPCaofhighandveryhighriskafterNCHT.Materials and methods.This was a prospective randomized study: patients with PCa of high and very high-risk groups (prostate specific antigen levels (PSA) >20 ng/ml and/or Gleason score³8and/or clinical stage >T2c) were treated with RPE only (group RPE; n = 35) or NCHT followed by RPE (NCHT/RPE group; n = 36). The neoadjuvant course included the intravenous administration of docetaxel once every 21 days (75 mg/m2 up to 6 cycles) and the antagonist of the gonadotropin releasing hormone degarelix according to the standard scheme (6 subcutaneous injections every 28 days). After a follow-up examination evaluating the result of the neoadjuvant regimen, patients underwent RPE with extanded lymphadenectomy.Results.A mean follow-up was 37.08 ± 20.46 months. A statistically significant reduction of prostate specific antigen >50 % post-chemohormonal therapy was observed in all 36 cases. Lower postoperative stage was noticed in 38.5 % in NCHT/RPE group compared with 2.7 % in RPE group. Similarly, positive surgical margin rate was higher in group without neoadjuvant therapy – 40 and 25 % (RPE group). Cancerspecific survival was 97.2 % in NCHT/RPE group and 87.56 % in the RP group (p = 0.037), cancer specific survival rate – 91.4 % and97.2 % respectively (log-rank test p = 0.22). At the same time, no statistically significant differences were obtained in 3-year recurrence free survival between groups: 38.8 % in NCHT/RPE group versus 43.6 % in the RPE group (log-rank test p = 0.36).Conclusion.Conducting NCHT before RPE is a safe and effective strategy in patients with PCa of high and very high risk groups and could improve oncological results.

A study of hadron production at the nucleon-antinucleon threshold has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. A very fast rise with about 1 MeV width has been observed in the $e^+e^- \to p\bar p$ cross section. A sharp drop in the $e^+e^- \to 3(\pi^+\pi^-)$ cross section has been confirmed and found to have a less than 2 MeV width, in agreement with the observed fast rise of the $e^+e^- \to p\bar p$ cross section. For the first time a similar sharp drop is demonstrated in the $e^+e^- \to K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-$ cross section. The behavior of the $e^+e^- \to 3(\pi^+\pi^-),~ K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-$ cross sections cannot be explained by an interference of any resonance amplitude with continuum, therefore this phenomenon cannot be due to a narrow near-threshold resonance. No such structure has been observed in the $e^+e^- \to 2(\pi^+\pi^-)$ cross section., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

The Technical Design for the COMET Phase-I experiment is presented in this paper. COMET is an experiment at J-PARC, Japan, which will search for neutrinoless conversion of muons into electrons in the field of an aluminium nucleus ($\mu-e$ conversion, $\mu^- N \to e^- N$); a lepton flavor violating process. The experimental sensitivity goal for this process in the Phase-I experiment is $3.1\times10^{-15}$, or 90 % upper limit of branching ratio of $7\times 10^{-15}$, which is a factor of 100 improvement over the existing limit. The expected number of background events is 0.032. To achieve the target sensitivity and background level, the 3.2 kW 8 GeV proton beam from J-PARC will be used. Two types of detectors, CyDet and StrECAL, will be used for detecting the \mue conversion events, and for measuring the beam-related background events in view of the Phase-II experiment, respectively. Results from simulation on signal and background estimations are also described., Comment: A minor correction applied in Eq. 3

Upgrade of the Time of Flight (TOF) system of the CMD-3 detector is described. The TOF is located inside the narrow gap between two layers of the cylindrical calorimeter based on the liquid Xe and CsI crystals. The TOF system is made from thin plates of plastic scintillator and is intended for measuring the time of flight of particles through the detector, in particular to detect products of antineutron annihilations in the calorimeters. Due to low velocities of antineutrons, the average times of annihilation in the calorimeters have a typical delay time about 4–10 ns with respect to the beam collision.

Precise study of the hadrons production in \bm{e^+e^-}𝐞+𝐞− annihilation at low energies provides important information about interactions of light quarks and spectroscopy of their bound states. These studies are especially important for theoretical calculations of the muon \bm{(g-2)}(𝐠−2) via the Standard Model because of the present difference between theoretical and experimental values exceeds three standard deviations. In this report we will discuss current status and recent results obtained by the CMD-3 experiment and will give a brief look to status of the BaBar and Belle II experiments.

A brief review of the recent results on the hadronic cross section measurements with the CMD-3 detector at the e+e− collider VEPP-2000 is given. Focus is made on the processes with charged kaons in multihadron events, which have a strong impact on strange meson spectroscopy and form factors that are important ingredients in the Dalitz plot analysis. Experimental data relevant to the topic are presented from the broad energy range covered by VEPP-2000 and compared to earlier measurements by the different collaborations. The analysis is based on the integrated luminosity of about 100 pb−1 collected in 2011, 2012 and 2017.

The CMD-3 detector started data taking at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 in December 2010 with a goal to collect about 1 fb−1. The collected data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 200 pb−1 in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.32 up to 2 GeV. This paper reports recent results on the hadronic cross sections measurements with the CMD-3 detector.

The difficulties of the analysis of the stressed–deformed state of compressible blank compared to the analysis of an incompressible one were explained. It was pointed out that the continual theory of plasticity of compressible materials is based on an analysis of representative volumes of material. The basic assumptions allowing the simplifying of the solution of tasks of deformation of compressible materials were formulated.

Mathematical models are used to explain the small deforming force in the extrusion of pots by the method sometimes known as direct extrusion. An improved die design is proposed for such components.

Results are presented from studies directed at reducing the damage done to hot-rolled tubes by internal scabs in the tube-rolling shop at the Seversky Pipe Plant. It is shown that it would be expedient to reduce the diameter of the continuous-cast semifinished product in order to alleviate surface defects and make the thickness of the tube wall more uniform in the transverse direction. An evaluation is made of the effect of adjusting the piercing mill and the reduction regimes on the formation of defects on the surface of tubes.

The CMD-3 detector started data taking at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 [1] in December 2010. The collected data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 87 pb−1 in the c.m. energy range from 1.06 up to 2 GeV and 91 pb−1 from 0.32 to 1.06 GeV. The integrated luminosity was measured by counting e+e−→ e+e− and e+e−→ γγ events, allowing additional photons in the final state. Preliminary results of the luminosity measurement are presented for various energy ranges and its accuracy is estimated to be 1%.

A search for the process e+e−→ D*0(2007) has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e−-collider. Two main decay modes of the D*0(2007) decay, D0π0 and D0γ, followed by D0 → K+π−π+π−are used in this analysis. With an integrated luminosity of 3.7 pb−1 collected at the center-of-mass energy Ec.m. =2006.62 MeV our preliminary upper limit is BD*0→e+ e− −6 at 90%C.L.

Background : It has been shown that long-term glucocporticoid administration to chronically estradiol-treated mice decreases uterine weight, proliferation in all uterine tissues, the number of perpendicularly oriented mitoses in uterine epithelia and the incidence of atypical endometrial hyperplasia. However, mechanisms of chronic glucocorticoid action on estrogen-dependent processes in the uterus are unclear. Methods and results : Results of present research showed that adding of glucocorticoid dexamethasone (in drinking water, 2mg/l) to estradiol-treated mice led to a decrease in the level of glucocorticoid receptor, to an increase in levels of estrogen receptor-α, β-catenin and glycogen synthase kinase-3β in uterine tissues of ovariectomized mice at 30, 60 and 90 days of the treatment. When vehicle was used instead estradiol, dexamethasone did not produce detectable changes in all parameters tested at all periods of observation. Conclusion : Results allow to conclude that estrogen and glucocorticoid receptors, β-catenin and glycogen synthase kinase-3β are involved in estrogen-dependent changes in uterine morphology and hyperplasia formation.

Measures are proposed to reduce the consumption coefficient in the production of tubes on Pilger mills and increase these mills’ productivity by redesigning the mandrel, mandrel assembly, and mandrel ring.

Energy gain of trapped electrons in excess of 20 MeV has been demonstrated in an inverse-free-electron-laser (IFEL) accelerator experiment. A 14.5 MeV electron beam is copropagated with a 400 GW CO2 laser beam in a 50 cm long undulator strongly tapered in period and field amplitude. The Rayleigh range of the laser, approximately 1.8 cm, is much shorter than the undulator length yielding a diffraction-dominated interaction. Experimental results on the dependence of the acceleration on injection energy, laser focus position, and laser power are discussed. Simulations, in good agreement with the experimental data, show that most of the energy gain occurs in the first half of the undulator at a gradient of 70 MeV/m and that the structure in the measured energy spectrum arises because of higher harmonic IFEL interaction in the second half of the undulator.

We report on the observation of energy gain in excess of 20 MeV at the Inverse Free Electron Laser Accelerator experiment at the Neptune Laboratory at UCLA. A 14.5 MeV electron beam is injected in a 50 cm long undulator strongly tapered both in period and field amplitude. A CO 2 10.6 µ m laser with power > 400 GW is used as the IFEL driver. The Rayleigh range of the laser (∼ 1.8 cm) is shorter than the undulator length so that the interaction is diffraction dominated. Few per cent of the injected particles are trapped in stable accelerating buckets and electrons with energies up to 35 MeV are detected on the magnetic spectrometer. Three dimensional simulations are in good agreement with the electron energy spectrums observed in the experiment and indicate that substantial energy exchange between laser and electron beam only occurs in the first 25-30 cm of the undulator. An energy gradient of > 70 MeV is inferred. In the second section of the undulator higher harmonic IFEL interaction is observed.

Objectives: It is suggested that the Wnt/β-catenin pathway plays a role in the regulation of estrogen action in the uterus. However, this suggestion has not been proved. Lithium can mimic increased activity of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway by blocking the activity of glycogen synthase kinase-3β. There are no data on the effects of lithium on estrogen-dependent processes in the uterus. This work was therefore aimed to examine the action of lithium on proliferative and morphogenetic reactions in the uterus under short- and long-term estrogen treatments. Study design: Ovariectomized mice received estradiol dipropionate (2 μg per 100 g; s.c.) once a week or vehicle and drank tap water with 0.05% lithium chloride or plain tap water for 2 or 30 days. Results: In animals treated with estradiol and lithium for a month, the incidence of atypical endometrial hyperplasia was significantly higher. In animals treated with estradiol and lithium for 2 days or for a month, uterine mass, the number of mitotic cells and BrdU-labelled cells in luminal epithelium, glandular epithelium, stromal and myometrial cells was markedly greater, whereas the levels of estrogen receptors-α, β-catenin and glycogen synthase kinase-3β were markedly lower in all uterine compartments, than in those in mice received estradiol with no lithium to drink. Conclusions: Lithium treatment results in an increase in estradiol-induced proliferative and morphogenetic changes in the uterus. This action of lithium is associated with decreased expression of estrogen receptors-α, β-catenin and glycogen synthase kinase-3β in the uterus.

The aim of this study was to examine the role of adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) in proliferative and morphogenetic reactions in the uterus under continuous oestrogen treatment. Ovariectomized mice received injections of oestradiol dipropionate or vehicle once a week (2 microg per 100 g), and injections of ACTH (10 microg per 100 g) once a day or once a week for 30 days. Additional control mice received oestradiol and saline, vehicle of oestradiol, and ACTH once a day or once a week, or vehicle of ACTH, for 30 days. This study shows for the first time that ACTH affects oestrogen-dependent reactions in the uterus. Treatment with ACTH once a day resulted in a decrease in uterine mass, in cell proliferation (assessed by the number of mitotic and bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU)-labelled cells) and in the incidence of endometrial hyperplasia, in particular complex and atypical hyperplasia. Treatment with ACTH once a week led to a marked reduction in the incidence of endometrial hyperplasia, a slight increase in uterine mass and had almost no effect on cell proliferation. Daily treatment with ACTH reduced the concentration of oestrogen receptor alpha in all uterine compartments, but weekly ACTH administration had the opposite effect. Expression of glucocorticoid receptors, beta-catenin and glycogen synthase kinase-3beta in uterine tissues was lower in animals treated with oestradiol and ACTH once a day or once a week. When olive oil was used instead of oestradiol, treatments with ACTH did not produce detectable changes in all parameters examined. Thus, glucocorticoid receptor, oestrogen receptor alpha, beta-catenin and glycogen synthase kinase-3beta are involved in the effects of ACTH on oestrogen-induced changes in uterine mass, cell proliferation and the incidence of hyperplasia.

The aim of this work was to examine the role of prolactin and dopaminergic drugs, which affect prolactin secretion, on proliferative and morphogenetic reactions in the uterus under continuous estrogen treatment. Ovariectomized mice received injections of estradiol dipropionate (2 microg per 100 g, weekly) or vehicle and daily injections of prolactin (0.25 mg/100 g) or saline (0.05 ml) for 30 days. Other groups of mice received injections of estradiol or vehicle and injections of saline, and were allowed to drink bromocriptine (25 mg/l), metoclopramide (25 mg/l), or only tap water for 30 days. Prolactin administration results in a decrease in the incidence of abnormal glands with abnormal epithelium, the incidence of atypical hyperplasia, uterine weight, proliferation (the number of mitotic and bromodeoxyuridine-labeled cells) and the levels of estrogen receptor-alpha, but causes an increase in the level of beta-catenin in uterine tissues of estrogen-treated mice. The effect of metoclopramide, which increases prolactin secretion, is principally similar to prolactin, but much less expressed. Bromocriptine, which reduces prolactin levels, increases uterine weight, proliferation, the levels of estrogen receptor-alpha, the incidence of abnormal glands with abnormal epithelium, the incidence of complex and atypical hyperplasia, and decreases the level of beta-catenin in uterine structures of estrogen-treated mice. In the absence of estradiol, none of the treatments used had any effect on the parameters tested. Thus, prolactin or metoclopramide produce antiestrogenic effects in the uterus of mice and prevent the formation of atypical hyperplasia which has an unfavorable prognosis, but bromocriptine has the opposite effect. Estrogen receptor-alpha and beta-catenin were associated with the actions of prolactin, metoclopramide and bromocriptine on estrogen-dependent processes in the uterus.

The upgrade of the CMD-3 Time of Flight system (TOF) based on strip scintillation counters is described. The TOF is located inside 7 mm gap between LXe and CsI barrel calorimeters. The principal objective of this system is to identify slow antineutrons produced in the reaction e+e−→n. Due to low velocities these antineutrons annihilate in calorimeters and have a typical delay time about 4-10 ns with respect to the beam crossing in VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. The signals coming from strip scintillation counters are readout by two SiPM on both sides of the strip. Time resolution is measured with cosmic rays and is ~ 1 ns.

In response to the problems arising on introducing a new piercing mill designed by OAO EZTM, the use of continuous-cast billet of a single diameter is proposed for the manufacture of pipe with a diameter of 219–325 mm; the working profile of the mandrel is optimized, with the introduction of alternating curvature; and the conditions of billet heating in the annular furnace prior to piercing are adjusted.

The dynamics of the DNA binding with rivanol-SO2 in lymphocytes stimulated with phytohemagglutinin is investigated in women with normal and complicated pregnancy. It is established that the ability to bind rivanol-SO2 by DNA in the women with a habitual abortion and a threat of pregnancy interruption is reduced in lymphocytes under a 72-hour cultivation as compared with a 24-hour one. This phenomenon was not observed in women with a physiological course of pregnancy.

The authors studied the properties of peripheral blood lymphocyte chromatin from donors (non-pregnant women), from women with normal pregnancy and during threatened abortion. Using three independent cytochemical methods that characterize the DNA accessibility for acridine orange and 3H-actinomycin D and the presence in histones of free amino groups, it has been established that lymphocyte chromatin from women during threatened abortion is repressed to a greater degree than in those with normal pregnancy. The data presented demonstrate the prospectiveness of the use of the cytochemical tests for chromatin properties with a purpose of diagnosing whether the pregnancy will be full-term and treatment control.

Mouse hepatocytes of different ploidy react to the partial hepatectomy by changes in cytochemical properties of the chromatin, leading to an increased binding to DNA of a basic dye acridine orange and an antibiotic actinomycin D, and to decreased DNP stability to acid hydrolysis. These alterations reach their maximum 1.5 and 2.5 hours after the operation in di-and tetraploid, and octaploid cells, resp. and decrease markedly by 5 hours after the operation. The differences in the chromatin reaction of cells with different ploidy to the activation stimulus reflects presumably the particular roles played by these cells in liver regeneration. The difference in chromatin cytochemical properties of activated and non-activated hepatocytes is interpreted as a result of changes in DNA interaction with chromatin proteins.
