The lectotype of Longitarsus californicus (Motschulsky, 1845) is designated, described, and illustrated. An illustrated key to eight light-colored Longitarsus species known to occur in the western United States is presented. A brief history of Russian entomological collecting in North America during the first half of 19th century, with specimens preserved in Zoological Museum of Moscow University, Moscow and Zoological Institute, St. Petersburg, is provided.

Two new species of Longitarsus Latreille, 1829 from China are described: L. pekingensis Liang, Konstantinov & Ge, sp. nov. (Beijing) and L. xinjiangensis Liang, Konstantinov & Ge, sp. nov. (Xinjiang). Images of dorsal and lateral habitus, pronotum, head, and male and female genitalia are provided. The records of Longitarsus violentus Weise, 1893 and Longitarsus weisei Guillebeau, 1895 in China are discussed. Holotypes of L. marguzoricus Konstantinov in Konstantinov & Lopatin, 2000 and L. violentoides Konstantinov in Konstantinov & Lopatin, 2000 are illustrated with images of pronotum and median lobe of aedeagus. A key to species of L. violentus species group is provided.

The diversity and biology of the moss and leaf litter-inhabiting flea beetles are still poorly known. In this study, three new species of Benedictus are described from China: Benedictus fuanensis Ruan & Konstantinov, sp. nov., Benedictus quadrimaculatus Ruan & Konstantinov, sp. nov., and Benedictus wangi Ruan & Konstantinov, sp. nov. Comments on their biology are given. Benedictus quadrimaculatus has a highly unusual morphological feature not reported before in flea beetles: black spots on the abdominal tergites that are visible through the elytra. Traditional and modified ethanol traps were tested and proven useful for collecting leaf litter- and moss-inhabiting flea beetles. Based on our tests, eight traps could collect one specimen each day in the testing sites in Fujian Province; three traps could collect one specimen each day in the testing sites in Guangdong Province.

An algorithm for designing a low-energy lunar flight trajectory is presented. It is based on the assumption that low-energy flight trajectories pass through the vicinity of one of the collinear libration points of the Earth - Moon system (L1 or L2). It is also assumed that at the moment of spacecraft flight in the vicinity of the libration point, the elements of the osculating geocentric orbit of the spacecraft are close to the elements of the osculating geocentric orbit of the libration point itself. The results of a numerical analysis of the obtained low-energy lunar flight trajectory are presented. It is shown that the use of such a trajectory makes it possible to reduce the deceleration impulse of the velocity during the transition to a low lunar orbit to a value of 638 m/s (in the traditional flight scheme, this impulse turns out to be more than 800 m/s). The influence of solar gravitational disturbances on the flight trajectory is analyzed. It is demonstrated that these perturbations ensure the approach of the spacecraft to the Moon with a negative selenocentric energy constant and contribute to the temporary capture of the spacecraft by the Moon. The influence of the terrestrial gravitational perturbation on the circumlunar part of the trajectory is studied. It is displayed that on the trajectory found this perturbation effectively reduces the selenocentric velocity of the spacecraft. The conditions for spacecraft flight in the vicinity of the libration point are considered.

A method for designing low-energy trajectory of transfer to the Moon with the insertion of a spacecraft into a low circumlunar orbit is proposed. The analysis of this trajectory is based on the solution of a boundary value problem for the system of differential equations of the restricted four-body problem. The trajectory of the low-energy flight passes through a region of space where the gravitational attraction of the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun tend to cancel. The trajectory turns out to be very sensitive to the initial conditions of the spacecraft motion. Difficulties arise in solving the boundary value problem. Weak stability boundary issue appears. An additional difficulty in designing the trajectory of a low-energy transfer of a spacecraft is related to the multi-extremality of the optimization problem under consideration. The authors assume that the transfer trajectory passes in the vicinity of the libration point L1 or L2 of the Earth - Moon system and introduces some restrictions on the velocity vector of the spacecraft at the moment the spacecraft passes the vicinity of the libration point. This assumption and the use of enumeration in space of the two main parameters of the transfer pattern allows to find an initial approximation for the low-energy transfer trajectory.

Longitarsus leonardicarloi (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae: Alticini), new species belonging to Longitarsus anchusae species group is described from Turkmenistan. The new species is illustrated with images of male and female genitalia; dorsal, lateral, and frontal habiti; and protarsomeres of both sexes. It is compared with L. anchusae (Paykull), L. anatolicus Weise and L. hittita Biondi, which are illustrated with images of the median lobe of the aedeagi, dorsal and frontal habiti. A key to all species currently included in L. anchusae group is provided.

The early ideological socialization of schoolchildren is manifested in their increasing involvement in political (including protest) activities. In Russia, school students’ involvement in political processes hasn’t been properly studied, despite similar studies being conducted abroad since the middle of the last century. Meanwhile, in the information age, the students’ political participation should be considered in close connection with the younger generation’s digital socialization carried out in online communities and social networks. In this regard, the purpose of this article is to raise the question of the methodology for studying what until recently seemed insignificant in the minds of schoolchildren: fully formed ideological attitudes influenced by the ideological language of new media. To solve this methodological problem, we need to clarify the concepts of political and ideological socialization projected on the school; formulate the problem of ideological acceleration of schoolchildren; methodologically substantiate the concept of ideological socialization and describe the environment of new media as the main “accelerator” of the schoolchildren’s ideological socialization. The authors note the need for a political study of the issue, using the achievements of interdisciplinary research in the fields of linguistics, cognitive science and ideologies. They propose an approach based on the theory of metaphorical framing (J. Lakoff) and the authors’ concept of cognitive ideological matrices. The authors emphasize that new media act as an intermediary in the formation of cognitiveideological matrices in the individual and group consciousness of schoolchildren, as well as a catalyst for earlier ideological socialization.

Transcription factors from the WOX family are well-known regulators of cell proliferation and differentiation in plants. Herein, we focused on several WOX genes from the intermediate clade and checked their impact on somatic embryogenesis using the model legume object Medicago truncatula. As a result, we show that MtWOX9-1 overexpression not only stimulates somatic embryogenesis in the embryogenic M. truncatula line, as it was shown previously, but can also induce somatic embryogenesis in the non-embryogenic line. Other intermediate clade WOX, including the close paralog of MtWOX9-1, as well as WOX11 homologs, did not have any significant impact on somatic embryogenesis in our in vitro cultivation system. Together, our results give new information about the diversity of the WOX family proteins and their specific functions. These data can be used for the search of new regeneration stimulators.

WOX family transcription factors are well-known regulators of plant development, controlling cell proliferation and differentiation in diverse organs and tissues. Several WOX genes have been shown to participate in regeneration processes which take place in plant cell cultures in vitro, but the effects of most of them on tissue culture development have not been discovered yet. In this study, we evaluated the effects of MtWOX2 gene overexpression on the embryogenic callus development and transcriptomic state in Medicago truncatula. According to our results, overexpression of MtWOX2 leads to an increase in callus weight. Furthermore, transcriptomic changes in MtWOX2 overexpressing calli are, to a large extent, opposite to the changes caused by overexpression of MtWOX9-1, a somatic embryogenesis stimulator. These results add new information about the mechanisms of interaction between different WOX genes and can be useful for the search of new regeneration regulators.

The West Indian flea beetle genus Hemilactica Blake, 1937 is reviewed. Two new species, both from the Dominican Republic are described and illustrated: H. erwini sp. nov. and H. sierramatringarcia sp. nov. In addition, images of the holotypes of H. portoricensis Blake, H. pulchella Blake, and H. rugosa Blake are provided. Lactica megaspila (Blake) is transferred to Hemilactica. A lectotype of H. quatuordecimpunctata (Suffrian, 1868) is designated and illustrated, and a key to the Hemilactica species and a key for identification of Hemilactica and related genera occurring in the Western Hemisphere are provided.

Blakealtica fusca a new genus and new species from the Dominican Republic is described and illustrated. In addition to external features, beetle thoracic sclerites (including metendosternite) are fully examined and illustrated. Blakealtica is similar to Monomacra Chevrolat,1836 and related genera (Disonycha Chevrolat, 1836, Hemilactica Blake, 1937, Myrmeconycha Konstantinov & Tishechkin, 2017, Parchicola Bechyne & Bechyne, 1975, Pseudodisonycha Blake, 1954, and Rosalactica Bechyne & Bechyne, 1977) as all studied representatives of these genera are missing the sclerotized vaginal palpi or have them membranous and otherwise poorly developed. This feature may be unique for the Monomacra group of genera as it has not been seen anywhere else in flea beetles.

Erinaceialtica Konstantinov & Linzmeier, a new genus of moss inhabiting flea beetles, containing seven species from the Dominican Republic and Haiti is described and illustrated. Five species are new (E. gabbysalazarae, E. janestanleyae, E. rickstanleyi (the type species), E. rileyi, and E. thomasi) and two species are transferred from Aedmon: A. albicincta (Blake) and A. hugonis (Blake) comb. nov. The new genus is compared to Aedmon Clark, Apleuraltica Bechyne, Andersonaltica Linzmeier & Konstantinov, Distigmoptera Blake, and Ulrica Scherer. Keys to Erinaceialtica and related genera and to Erinaceialtica species are provided.

Flea beetles (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae, Galerucinae, Alticini) are a hyperdiverse group of organisms with approximately 9900 species worldwide. In addition to walking as most insects do, nearly all the species of flea beetles have an ability to jump and this ability is commonly understood as one of the key adaptations responsible for its diversity. Our investigation of flea beetle jumping is based on high-speed filming, micro-CT scans and 3D reconstructions, and provides a mechanical description of the jump. We reveal that the flea beetle jumping mechanism is a catapult in nature and is enabled by a small structure in the hind femur called an ‘elastic plate’ which powers the explosive jump and protects other structures from potential injury. The explosive catapult jump of flea beetles involves a unique ‘high-efficiency mechanism’ and ‘positive feedback mechanism’. As this catapult mechanism could inspire the design of bionic jumping limbs, we provide a preliminary design for a robotic jumping leg, which could be a resource for the bionics industry.

Aim. Critical analysis and conceptual reception of the cognitive trend in the study of political ideologies. Methodology. In the course of the study, a conceptual-analytical method was used, which made it possible to identify the basic provisions of scientific theory and/or methodology based on the analysis of key scientific texts. The paradigm works of Paul Ricoeur, John Brookshire Thompson and Michael Freeden were analyzed. Results. It is shown that in the understanding of ideologies there has been a significant shift from interpreting this phenomenon as a means of distorting social reality, masking conflicts and contradictions, as well as producing illusions, to a more complex and multi-layered interpretation of ideology as a cognitive matrix of group consciousness as an interpretive code and a symbolic tool for establishing and reproduction of dominance. The concept of ideology within the cognitive approach was conceptualized. Research implications. The systematization of the main conceptual elements of the cognitive approach to the study of political ideologies, carried out in the article, creates the basis for a deeper reception in the domestic social sciences of the methodological tools of this approach and a more adequate understanding of the nature of ideologies.

The flea beetle genus Lankaphthona Medvedev, 2001 is redescribed and a new species L. yunnantarsella sp. nov. Ruan, Konstantinov & Prathapan is described. Longitarsella Medvedev, 2009, syn. nov. and Philotarsa Medvedev, 2009, syn. nov. are newly synonymized with Lankaphthona. Philotarsa laosica Medvedev, 2009, syn. nov. is synonymized with Lankaphthona phuketensis (Gruev, 1989). The following new combinations are proposed: Lankaphthona binotata (Baly, 1876), comb. nov.; Lankaphthona costata (Medvedev, 2016), comb. nov.; Lankaphthona cyanipennis (Medvedev, 2017), comb. nov.; Lankaphthona nigronotata (Jacoby, 1896), comb. nov.; Lankaphthona notatipennis (Medvedev, 2009), comb. nov.; and Lankaphthona phuketensis (Gruev, 1989), comb. nov., status restored. A highly specialized spoon-shaped ‘appendage’ is discovered on the first abdominal ventrite of males of Lankaphthona binotata. Aedeagus of the same species has aberrant sheath-shaped phallobase encircling the median lobe. Morphology and possible function of these structures are discussed. Menispermaceae are newly reported as the host plants of the genus.

Abstract A high statistics data sample of the decays of $$K^+$$ K+ mesons to three charged particles was accumulated by the OKA experiment in 2012 and 2013. This allowed to select a clean sample of about 450 events with $$K^{+}\rightarrow \pi ^{+}\pi ^{-}\pi ^{+}\gamma $$ K+→π+π-π+γ decays with the energy of the photon in the kaon rest frame greater than 30 MeV. The measured branching fraction of the $$K^{+}\rightarrow \pi ^{+}\pi ^{-}\pi ^{+}\gamma $$ K+→π+π-π+γ , with $$E_{\gamma }^{*} > 30\ \hbox {MeV}$$ Eγ∗>30MeV is equal to $$(0.71 \pm 0.05) \times 10^{-5}$$ (0.71±0.05)×10-5 . The measured differential branching fraction over photon energy is compared with the prediction of the chiral perturbation theory to $${\mathcal {O}}(p^{4})$$ O(p4) . A search for an up-down asymmetry of the photon with respect to the hadronic system decay plane is also performed.

Andersonoplatus, a new genus with 16 new species from Venezuela (A. andersoni, A. bechyneorum, A. castaneus, A. flavus, A. jolyi, A. laculata, A. lagunanegra, A. macubaji, A. merga, A. merida, A. microoculus, A. peck, A. rosalesi, A. sanare, A. saviniae) and Panama (A. baru), is described and illustrated. All the specimens were collected in leaf litter by R. Anderson and S. and J. Peck. Andersonoplatus is compared to Andersonaltica Linzmeier & Konstantinov, Apleuraltica Bechyne, Distigmoptera Blake and Ulrica Scherer.

Abstract A high statistics data sample of the $$K^{+}\rightarrow \mu ^{+}\nu _{\mu }$$ K+→μ+νμ decay was accumulated by the OKA experiment in 2012. The missing mass analysis was performed to search for the decay channel $$K^{+}\rightarrow \mu ^{+}\nu _{H}$$ K+→μ+νH with a hypothetic stable heavy neutrino in the final state. The obtained missing mass spectrum does not show peaks that could be attributed to existence of stable heavy neutrinos in the mass range $$(270< m_{\nu _{H}} < 375)$$ (270

Two new genera: Baoshanaltica gen. n. and Sinosphaera gen. n., and two new species: Baoshanaltica minuta sp. n. and Sinosphaera aptera sp. n. from south-west China are described and illustrated. Baoshanaltica is compared to the allied moss-inhabiting genera Cangshanaltica Konstantinov et al. and Phaelota Jacoby, in addition to Minota Kutschera. Sinosphaera is compared to Sphaeroderma Stephens, Omeisphaera Chen & Zia, Jacobyana Maulik, and Kamala Maulik.

The article considers the dynamics of the research and innovation potential of Belgorod State National Research University (BelSU) in recent years and the main achievements of the University in research and innovation; it also looks at the experience acquired and the examples of effective commercialization of the intellectual activity results of BelSU research units within the framework ofthe project integration with economic entities of the country and the region. The authors pay special attention to the establishment of BelSU as a research entrepreneurial university, which involves building up its research capacity, first of all, in the spheres of materials science, living systems, and information and communication technologies, as well as forming an effective innovation ecosystem.

The article investigates the social composition of the population and migration in the Arkhangelsk North — in the Arkhangelsk region. The background for the research is a comparative analysis of the census held in the area since 1926. The author focuses of the transformation and changes that had occurred in the migratory behavior of the population and composition of the population by occupation, place of birth and residence in the following decades.

The biology of the moss and leaf litter inhabiting flea beetles is poorly understood. In this study, a new species of moss-eating flea beetles Cangshanaltica fuanensis sp. nov. is described; the morphology of adult and immature stages is examined and illustrated. Its life history and biology are studied. The remarkable and unique biological features are revealed: (1) females deposit one large egg at a time, egg length equals 0.4–0.5 times the female body length, these are unusual in Chrysomelidae; (2) females have only two ovarioles on each side of the ovary, which has not been reported in other Chrysomelidae species; (3) females lay and hide each egg under a spoon-shaped moss leaf; (4) cannibalism of a second instar larva on an egg was observed. Both adults and larvae feed on moss and are polyphagous; their feces mainly consist of un-digested moss fragments; high humidity is essential for the survival of eggs and larvae and expedites the hatching. In addition, a modified fan-driven Berlese funnel is designed for faster extraction of moss inhabiting flea beetles. This device could also be used for collecting other ground-dwelling arthropods. Its working diagram is illustrated and described.

The West Indian genus Monotalla Bechyné is reviewed, redescribed and illustrated. Five new species are added: Monotalla dominica sp. n. (Dominica); M. lecticofolia sp. n. (St. Lucia); M. maierae sp. n. (St. Lucia); M. obrienorum sp. n. (Grenada); and M. viridis sp. n. (St. Lucia). A key to Monotalla species is provided.

Chinese species of Chaetocnema semicoerulea group are revised and three new species described as new: C. salixis sp. n., C. yulongensis sp. n. and C. deqinensis sp. n.. A key to all five species of this group occurring in China and the illustrations of habitus and genitalia are provided. A map of species distribution is given.
