Experimental and computational studies of the positron-stimulated O $^+$ ion desorption process from a TiO _2 (1 1 0) surface are reported. The measured data indicate that the O $^+$ ion yields depend on the positron incident energy in the energy range between 0.5 keV and 15 keV. This dependence is closely related to the fraction of positrons which diffuse back to the surface after thermalization in the bulk. Based on the experimental and computational results, we conclude that the ion desorption via positron-stimulation occurs dominantly by the annihilation of surface-trapped positrons with core electrons of the topmost surface atoms.

In order to improve the knowledge of total mercury (THg) bioaccumulation in bioindicator species of sea catfish (Siluriformes, Ariidae) and taking into account the relatively recent approach with respect to estuarine fish on the Brazilian coast, 65 individuals were caught in the northern and southern regions of the Cananeia estuary to determine the concentration of the THg in muscles, gills, gonads and kidney of the Cathorops spixii and Genidens genidens specimens. The difference in the THg accumulation associated to the maturity of the catfish reflects a differential metabolism regarding THg bioaccumulation in adults (males and females) and juveniles. These observations reinforce the importance of considering the maturity of the individual in order to understand the bioaccumulation and metabolism of fish under different environmental stress and conditions. Furthermore, abiotic conditions such as salinity should be evaluated in association with metabolic/biological conditions of the fish's bioindicators, especially in environments with large natural or anthropogenic transition gradients.

Magnetism of Gadolinium-doped gallium nitride (GaGdN) depending on the Ga flux during crystal growth is investigated using magnetic Doppler broadening (MDB) measurements and M-H measurements. In Ga deficient condition, the matrix phase of GaGdN layer is regarded as GaN due to the precipitation of GdN nanoparticles. From the MDB measurements, magnetic moments at gallium vacancies (VGa) in GaN is detected, however, ferromagnetism derived from GdN nanoparticle is dominant. In Ga rich condition, pure GaGdN layer was formed and weak ferromagnetism was observed. The MDB measurements detect the magnetic moments at VGa in GaGdN, which might be a source of magnetism.

AIM To investigate the reliability of the established and new scoring methods for Hoffa’s fat pad synovitis using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODS A total of 139 knees of 115 patients who underwent MRI of the knee with and without gadolinium contrast were enrolled in this study. Proton density (PD)-weighted, PD-weighted fat-suppressed (PD-FS), and postcontrast T1-weighted fat-suppressed (T1CE) images were used for evaluation. Using contrast and non-contrast images, our grading method for synovitis was performed to measure synovial thickness and signal intensity changes of the fat pad [Synovial membrane (SM) score], which was compared with the established methods, including MRI Osteoarthritis Knee Score (MOAKS), parapatellar synovitis score, Whole-Organ Magnetic Resonance Imaging Score (WORMS), and suprapatellar effusion diameter. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) for intra and interobserver reproducibility and Spearman correlation coefficients (r) were calculated for the parapatellar synovitis score and each scoring method. RESULTS All of the scores presented substantial to almost perfect intrareliability. Among three readers, effusion diameter had substantial to almost perfect interreliability (ICC = 0.68-0.81) and WORMS had substantial interreliability (ICC = 0.61-0.70). For two out of three readers, there was substantial interreliability for the thickness score in T1CE (ICC = 0.55-0.69), SM scores in T1CE (ICC = 0.56-0.78) and PD-FS (ICC = 0.51-0.79), and parapatellar synovitis score in T1CE (ICC = 0.53-0.72). The parapatellar synovitis score was significantly correlated with the thickness score in T1CE (r = 0.70) and the SM score in T1CE (r = 0.81) and PD-FS (r = 0.65). CONCLUSION The newly proposed quantitative thickness score on T1CE and the semi-quantitative SM score on T1CE and PD-FS can be useful for Hoffa’s fat pad synovitis.

© 2017 The Author(s). Background: Prior studies describe histological and immunohistochemical differences in collagen and proteoglycan content in different meniscal zones. The aim of this study is to evaluate horizontal and vertical zonal differentiation of T1rho and T2 relaxation times of the entire meniscus from volunteers without symptom and imaging abnormality. Methods: Twenty volunteers age between 19 and 38 who have no knee-related clinical symptoms, and no history of prior knee surgeries were enrolled in this study. Two T1rho mapping (b-FFE T1rho and SPGR T1rho) and T2 mapping images were acquired with a 3.0-T MR scanner. Each meniscus was divided manually into superficial and deep zones for horizontal zonal analysis. The anterior and posterior horns of each meniscus were divided manually into white, red-white and red zones for vertical zonal analysis. Zonal differences of average relaxation times among each zone, and both inter- and intra-observer reproducibility were statistically analyzed. Results: In horizontal zonal analysis, T1rho relaxation times of the superficial zone tended to be higher than those of the deep zone, and this difference was statistically significant in the medial meniscal segments (84.3 ms vs 76.0 ms on b-FFE, p < 0.0001 and 96.5 ms vs 91.7 ms on SPGR, p = 0.004). In vertical zonal analysis, T1rho relaxation times of the white zone tended to be higher than those of the red zone, and this difference was statistically significant in the posterior horn of the medical meniscus (88.4 ms vs 77.1 ms on b-FFE, p < 0.001 and 104.9 ms vs 96.8 ms on SPGR, p =0.001). Likewise, T2 relaxation times of the superficial zone were significantly higher than those of the deep zone (80.4 ms vs 74.4 ms in the medial meniscus, p = 0.011). T2 relaxation times of the white zone were significantly higher than those of the red zone in the medial meniscus posterior horn (96.8 ms vs 84.3 ms, p < 0.001) and lateral meniscus anterior horn (104.6 ms vs 84.2 ms, p < 0.0001). Inter-class and intra-class correlation coefficients were excellent (>0.74) or good (0.60-0.74) in all meniscal segments on both horizontal and vertical zonal analysis, except for inter-class correlation coefficients of the lateral meniscus on SPGR. Compared with SPGR T1rho images, b-FFE T1rho images demonstrated more significant zonal differentiation with higher inter- and intra-observer reproducibility. Conclusions: There are zonal differences in T1rho and T2 relaxation times of the normal meniscus.

A new technique of superwide pressure range adsorption (SWPA) isotherm measurement of N2 from P/P0 = 10-9 to 1 at 77 K was developed. The superwide pressure range adsorption isotherms of N2 on activated carbon fiber, molecular sieve carbon, and carbon black were compared with those of their ordinary pressure range isotherms and the simulated isotherms calculated with grand canonical Monte Carlo technique. The SWPA measurement can show the adsorption uptake below P/P0 = 10-6, which is assigned to the adsorption in ultramicropores of pore width < 0.7 nm. The SWPA method shows the presence of ultramicropores even for nonporous carbon black, which has been believed to be nonporous from the ordinary adsorption measurement. Thus, the SWPA method can elucidate the ultramicropore structures of less-crystalline materials.

Objective The objective of this paper is to identify predictors for the response to treatment of acute lupus hemophagocytic syndrome (ALHS). Methods We reviewed seven cases with ALHS admitted to our hospital and published ALHS cases identified in the 2001–2014 Medline database, and then conducted univariate and multivariate analyses to identify predictors for the response to treatment. Results Review of our cases showed a significant and negative correlation between serum ferritin and anti-DNA antibody ( p = 0.0025). All three patients treated with cyclosporine A (CsA) were considered responders despite high serum ferritin and corticosteroid resistance. We also reviewed 93 patients with ALHS identified in 46 articles. Multiple logistic regression analysis identified C-reactive protein (CRP) (OR 0.83, p = 0.042) and hemoglobin (OR 1.53, p = 0.026) measured at diagnosis of ALHS as significant predictors of the response to corticosteroid monotherapy. Moreover, among 32 patients treated with CsA, serum ferritin was significantly higher in CsA responders (12163 ± 16864 µg/l, n = 22) than in non-responders (3456 ± 6267/µg/l, p = 0.020, n = 10). Leukocyte count was significantly lower in the CsA responders (1940.0 ± 972.3/µl) than in the non-responders (3253 ± 2198/µl, p = 0.034). Conclusion Low CRP and high hemoglobin can predict a positive response to corticosteroid monotherapy while high serum ferritin and low leukocyte count can predict a positive response to CsA in patients with ALHS and therefore, when corticosteroid monotherapy is not effective in such cases, CsA could be the first choice of an additional immunosuppressive agent.

An ash study was performed to analyze the accuracy of forearm measurements at the one-third site of three dual x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) systems using 20 cadavers. A Hologic QDR-2000, a Hologic QDR-1000/W, and a Lunar DPX-L system were used. The correlations between ash weight and DXA BMC were excellent for the three instruments (r0.97, p0.001), with accuracy errors5.2%. To perform a forearm cross-calibration of bone mineral content (BMC) and density (BMD) between the scanners, 10 healthy volunteers were additionally scanned at the distal one-third radius. The correlations among the DXA machines were excellent (r0.95); the absolute BMC and BMD values were significantly different between the two Hologics and the Lunar machine. The slope and intercept of both the BMC and BMD between the two Hologic systems were close to unity. In conclusion, the DXA forearm software packages provide accurate methods for assessing bone mineral content and density. The conversion of data among different manufacturers should be performed by careful cross-calibration measurements.

The lactoferrin (LF) concentration in the milk from dairy cows with clinical mastitis was determined to evaluate the relationship between the LF concentration (LFC) in milk and the non-specific defensive capability of the udder. The mean LFC in 368 milk samples from 319 cows with clinical mastitis was significantly higher (p < 0.01) than that of normal cows. The mean LFC in milk from quarters infected with Mycoplasma bovis or Staphylococcus aureus was significantly higher (p < 0.05) than that of quarters infected with coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS). In Escherichia coli mastitis, the level of LFC in milk from cows with peracute mastitis was significantly lower (p < 0.01) than that from cows with acute mastitis. In cases of mastitis due to E. coli, the mean LFC in milk from cows that needed more than 10 days to recover from the mastitis or were not cured was significantly lower (p < 0.05) than that for cows which took less than 10 days to be cured. The mean LFC in milk from cows with peracute E. coli mastitis was significantly lower (p < 0.05) than that for cows with mastitis associated with environmental streptococci or CNS, although these low LF levels were somewhat increased after 46 h from the occurrence of mastitis. These results suggest that the decreased levels of LF in peracute E. coli mastitis may be associated with the progress of inflammation in the early phase of mastitis.

We evaluated the accuracy and precision of a peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT) scanner, the Stratec XCT-960, using 12 human cadaveric forearms. The accuracy was determined by comparing the total bone mineral content (BMC) with the ash weight (AW). We scanned and ashed three consecutive slices (thickness 2.5 mm) at the standard position (s-position) and at 2.5 mm both proximal and distal to the s-position. The correlation coefficient between the AW and total BMC using slices at the s-position was r = 0.87 with an accuracy error (random component) of 15.5%. The correlation coefficient using all slices was r = 0.90 with an accuracy error of 14.3%. The correlation coefficient improved to r = 0.95 with an accuracy error of 9.7% after averaging the results of all three slices for each forearm. The short-term precision error expressed as the coefficient of variation (CV) of bone mineral density (BMD) and BMC was determined by measuring the forearms five times either with repositioning or without repositioning. The CVs with repositioning were 2.77 and 1.15 for total BMD and BMC, 1.85 for trabecular BMD; without repositioning they were 0.29, 0.58 and 0.69 respectively. To further evaluate the influence of positioning, additional scans were performed at 1, 2 and 5 mm proximal, and 1 and 2 mm distal to the s-position. BMD and BMC were greatly influenced by the scan location; for example, the percentage differences in trabecular BMD 1 mm distal and proximal relative to the s-position were 2.5% +/- 5.1% and 0.18% +/- 6.3%, respectively. The Stratec XCT-960 appears to be a moderately accurate and highly precise scanner with potential usefulness for evaluating BMC and BMD of ultradistal radius.

Bone densitometry has developed considerably during the past several decades. Because the techniques have become more precise than before, osteoporotic patients can now be followed over time, allowing for assessment of disease or response to treatment. Several densitometry techniques have been shown to allow for the assessment of fracture risk. Factors other than density, however, additionally influence fracture risk. The next step will be the evaluation of microstructure and bone quality.

The effect of periods on the accumulation and release of stress in GaAs/AlInAs superlattices structure is reported here. It is observed that in GaAs/AlInAs superlattices, when the Indium (In) content is greater than 10%, stress accumulates monotonically as the number of period increases. In GaAs/AlInAs superlattices with an In content of 5%, the accumulated stress is larger when the number of periods is less than 10. However when the number of periods exceeds 10, it was observed that suddenly there is a significant increase in defects and stress release. However, with any further increase in period number, there is once again an accumulation of stress.

Osteoporosis is defined as a decrease in bone mass and structural changes in bone leading to an increased fracture incidence. Therefore, early diagnosis in terms of prophylaxis and treatment are of great interest. Over the past several decades there has been considerable progress in the development and application of non-invasive methods of bone mass measurements or bone densitometry. This article reviews basic methodology and developments in bone densitometry including the early approaches like radiogrammetry, photo densitometry, neutron activation analysis and compton scattering techniques, present methods like single and dual x-ray absorptiometry and quantitative computed tomography, and recent developments like quantitative ultrasound, magnetic resonance techniques and structural analysis. The widespread interest in bone densitometry will initiate further improvement of established methods and development of new applications.

A previously unreported B cell specific gene, which we have named 8HS-20, was isolated from the cDNA library of a pre-B cell clone by subtraction and differential hybridization. This gene is selectively expressed as a 0.75 kb transcript in pre-B and bone marrow-derived B cell lines; a transcript of the same size is also found in bone marrow and, albeit at low levels, in spleen. The deduced amino acid sequence of the 8HS-20 cDNA displayed homology to a B cell specific gene, VpreB-1, and to members of the immunoglobulin supergene family including V lambda, V kappa, VH, TCRV alpha, V beta and CD8. Biochemical analysis using purified antiserum against 8HS-20 oligopeptides indicates that the gene encodes proteins with mol. wts of 13.5, 14, 15.5 and 16 kDa, which associate with mu chains in pre-B cell lines, and that these molecules are expressed concomitantly with VpreB-1 and lambda 5 gene products in the same cell lines.

This study evaluated the clinical and angiographic outcome of large aneurysms treated with coil embolization at an acute stage in patients with poor-grade subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Between July 1, 2001 and June 30, 2004, eight consecutive WFNS grade 5 patients with large aneurysms (15!23mm) were treated with endovascular coil embolization within two days and followed for at least 30 months. There were three middle cerebral and five internal carotid artery aneurysms. No patients were treated by craniotomy and none survived without treatment. Two patients died of primary brain damage or cerebral vasospasm within one month. One patient died of pneumonia at 24 months. Four patients were alive with good recovery or moderate disability at the time of final follow-up (30!66 months). Angiography immediately after the procedure showed complete occlusion in three, neck remnant in four, and body filling in one patient. No complication was seen related to the procedure. Three aneurysms that were initially neck remnant developed body filling due to coil compaction. Two were re-treated with coils at six and 12 months and resulted in neck remnant. One patient refused re-treatment and died of re-bleeding. Endovascular coil embolization can be selected at an acute stage for the treatment of aneurysms in patients with poor-grade SAH without intraparenchymal hematoma even if the aneurysm is large. Serial follow up by MRA/angiography is necessary for at least 12 months.

The type, incidence, and severity of complications of balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration (B-RTO) for gastric varices should be precisely estimated. Complications were evaluated in 38 patients who had fundic gastric varices and 43 B-RTO procedures during injection of ethanolamine oleate (phase 1), within 4 h after injection (phase 2), 24 h after injection (phase 3), and from 24 h to 10 days after injection (phase 4). Endoscopic evaluation at 8 weeks showed resolution of gastric varices in 35 of 38 patients (92%) and smaller varices in the remaining three (8%). B-RTO caused transient hypertension in 35% of patients, hemoglobinuria in 49%, and fever in 33% during phases 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Pleural effusion, pulmonary infarction, ascites, gastric ulcers with unique appearance, localized mosaic-like change of gastric mucosa, and hemorrhagic portal hypertensive gastropathy were noted in phase 4. There were no fatalities. Lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase, and bilirubin increased on day 1. Each datum was retrieved within 7 days. The severity of lactate dehydrogenase elevation correlated significantly with the volume of infused ethanolamine oleate. Thus, B-RTO is a safe and effective management of fundic varices. However, short-term hemodynamic change after B-RTO may cause gastric mucosal damage. Pulmonary infarction and pleural effusion are potential complications.

A new control system for bogie truck assembly manufacturing process has been developed. The characteristics of the system are described. The system carries out two control functions in the manufacturing process line which three types of bogie truck assembly frames are produced: 1) the best pathway which is indicated to the automatic guided vehicle (AGV), and 2) the starting point indication to both the gas cutting robot and the arc welding robot. The system brings about an actual and practical use for the pre-programmed robot teaching system: 1) the function which automatically sets up the robot position, the angle of weld torch and the weld condition; and 2) the function which transmits the robot's various program functions through a local area network adjusting to the arrival time of the frame carried by the AGV. This system has achieved a reduction of labor, robot teaching time and an improvement in production efficiency. >

A new diagnosis method for high voltage coils has been developed. In this method, two diagnosis techniques are involved. One is an evaluation method for breakdown voltage based on nondestructive electric characteristics and the other is a delamination detection technique using a neural pattern recognition system for tap tone signals of the insulation layer. The evaluated breakdown voltage value is corrected by a rectifying factor determined from the delamination form of the insulation layer.

Sequestration of concentrated platelets (P-con) during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) has been performed to preserve platelet function after cardiac surgery. Since P-con also harvests leukocytes simultaneously, there might be a possibility that the inflammatory effects or ischemia-reperfusion injuries associated with CPB, such as a cardiac or pulmonary dysfunction after cardiac surgery, are reduced with its use.We retrospectively evaluated 53 patients who underwent cardiac surgery after the introduction of the P-con technique at our institute. There were 20 patients in the P-con group and 33 patients in the control group in whom concentrated platelet were not harvested. The patients characteristics and preoperative cardiac and pulmonary function did not differ between the two groups. The percentages of platelets and leukocytes sequestrated were 20.2+/-5.4% and 8.5+/-3.9% of the total estimated circulating cell counts, respectively. There were no significant differences in the postoperative dose of dopamine used, cardiac index, pulmonary capillary wedge pressure or intubation period between the two groups. However, the stroke volume index (p=0.005), left ventricular stroke work index (p=0.002), and ratio of the arterial oxygen tension to the inspired fraction of oxygen on extubation (p=0.02) were significantly greater in the P-con group as compared with those in the control.P-con improved cardiac and pulmonary function after CPB. Simultaneous sequestration of platelets and leukocytes by P-con during CPB may contribute to the improvement of cardiac and pulmonary function after cardiac surgery.

The present study was planned to evaluate a role of nitric oxide (NO) in the regulation of regular ruminal contractions in conscious sheep. Intravenous infusion of S-nitroso-acetyl-DL-penicillamine (SNAP) at doses of 3-30 nmol kg(-1) min(-1)for 30 minutes inhibited both the amplitude and frequency of ruminal contractions in a dose-dependent manner. However, intravenous infusion of Nomega-nitro-L-arginine-methyl ester (L-NAME) at doses of 0.3-3.0 micromol kg(-1) min(-1)did not alter the basal tone of intraruminal pressure and the amplitude of ruminal contractions. The frequency of contractions was slightly inhibited by L-NAME infusion at 1.0 micromol kg(-1)min(-1). The effects of L-NAME were abolished by simultaneous infusion of L -arginine at 30 micromol kg(-1) min(-1). These results suggest that exogenous NO can diminish the ruminal contractions, while endogenous NO is not involved in the regulatory mechanism of basal tone and regular phasic contractions of the rumen in healthy sheep.

We examined functional, metabolic, and histological changes in the aortic tissue of rats after the period of warm ischemia ranging from 0 to 24 hours to determine the window of time in which grafts can be optimally viable for harvest. Sixty aortas from Brown Norway rats obtained after warm ischemia were used and changes in contraction, endothelial-dependent or -independent vasodilatation, cell viability, and histology were examined. Maximal contraction induced by norepinephrine and potassium chloride decreased time-dependently after exposure to warm ischemia. The warm ischemic period when 50% of the maximal contractile response of freshly isolated arteries was preserved, ranged from 6 to 8 hours. Maximal endothelium-dependent relaxation induced by acetylcholine decreased along with the time of warm ischemia. Endothelium-independent relaxation induced by sodium nitroprusside and forskolin was unaltered for up to 9 hours. Cell viability gradually decreased, and a significant negative correlation was found between warm ischemic period (T: hours) and cell viability (V: %) (V=101.9-2.35T; r(2)=0.96; p0.0001). Cell viability was greater than 70% within 12 hours postmortem. Histologically, after 9-hour-warm ischemia irreversible changes were detected. Results suggest that the period of warm ischemia for up to 6 hours would be acceptable for preservation of tissue viability.

We reported a case of successful simultaneous mitral and aortic valvuloplasty using rasping procedure. A 55-year-old woman with combined valvular disease received this operation. Postoperatively, the mitral valve area increased from 1.15 cm2 to 2.03 cm2. Mitral regurgitation improved. Aortic valve pressure gradient decreased from 21 mmHg to 0 mmHg. Aortic regurgitation also improved. Cardiac Index (CI) increased from 1.94 l/min./m2 to 2.59 l/min./m2. Ejection fraction (EF) also increased from 60% to 82%. The postoperative course was uneventful. Excellent postoperative results of this procedure may be expected, not only in single valvular disease but also in combined valvular disease.

The authors report a case of a 70-year-old man, with repeating episodes of systemic subdermal hematoma due to consumption coagulopathy associated with abdominal aortic aneurysm and the bilateral femoral arterial aneurysms. Prior to the first operation for abdominal aortic repair, anticoagulation therapy was applied to treat thrombocytopenia and hypofibrinogenemia. Five years following the first surgery, the same treatment was required before resection of the femoral lesions. Consumption coagulopathy is seen in approximately 1-4% population of aortic aneurysms, however, repeated appearance of symptomatic coagulopathy is rarely reported. Anticoagulation therapy was effective to normalize the coagulation and fibrinolytic system and followed by uneventful surgical resection of the aneurysms.

Neutropenic enteritis is a septic or inflammatory disease of the colon. It is usually encountered in patients with hematological malignancy who have undergone chemotherapy, and it presents as fever, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, although the symptoms are not always specific. The diagnostic features of neutropenic enteritis revealed by barium enema, CT and ultrasonography have been reported previously. Here we report 4 cases of neutropenic enteritis in which ultrasound was used for diagnosis, and also for monitoring the clinical course of the disease. Because neutropenic enteritis is rapidly progressive, early diagnosis and therapeutic intervention are required. We believe that ultrasonography is a useful method for examining patients with neutropenic enteritis, being noninvasive, mobile, and providing rapid results in real time, thus aiding early diagnosis and clinical follow-up.

A suspension culture of the moss Marchantia polymorpha was incubated with either [3H]ethanolamine or [3H]myristic acid, precursors of a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor. By both of these a secretory protein of 47 kDa was consistently labelled. Amino acid composition analysis of the chromatographically purified 47-kDa protein exhibited the occurrence of ethanolamine and glucosamine at approximate molar ratios to protein of 1 and 4, respectively. Thus the secretory 47-kDa protein of M. polymorpha was concluded to be a GPI-anchored protein.

A 48-year-old woman, who had been suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), developed normochromic normocytic anemia after receiving clomipramine hydrochloride. Her reticulocyte count was low, and a bone marrow aspirate revealed erythroid hypoplasia without involvement of other cell lines. Thus a diagnosis of pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) was made. The anemia gradually resolved following withdrawal of the drug. Although several drugs are known to cause PRCA, this is the first time that clomipramine hydrochloride has been reported to have such an effect. The underlying SLE in this case suggested the possible immunological pathogenesis of drug-induced PRCA.

We report the results of long-term follow up in 9 patients who underwent pericardiectomy for constrictive pericarditis. In order to test whether if congestive liver dysfunction due to the disease could be reversible or not after the surgical repair, the patients were evaluated by indocyanine green (ICG) clearance test. All the patients improved in NYHA classification after long-term periods following surgical repairs. The percentage of ICG retention at 15 minutes (ICG-R15) improved in most of the patients. However, two patients who had a long history from the onset before surgery became worse in ICG-R15. From the above reports, reversibility of hepatic function might be dependent on the duration of liver congestion before surgical repairs.
