We report a unique multiyear L-band microwave radiometry dataset collected at the Maqu site on the eastern Tibetan Plateau and demonstrate its utilities in advancing our understandings of microwave observations of land surface processes. The presented dataset contains measurements of L-band brightness temperature by an ELBARA-III microwave radiometer in horizontal and vertical polarization, profile soil moisture and soil temperature, turbulent heat fluxes, and meteorological data from the beginning of 2016 till August 2019, while the experiment is still continuing. Auxiliary vegetation and soil texture information collected in dedicated campaigns are also reported. This dataset can be used to validate the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) and Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) satellite based observations and retrievals, verify radiative transfer model assumptions and validate land surface model and reanalysis outputs, retrieve soil properties, as well as to quantify land-atmosphere exchanges of energy, water and carbon and help to reduce discrepancies and uncertainties in current Earth System Models (ESM) parameterizations. With China’s first stereo imaging satellite ZY-3’s successful launch and two satellites networking operation, space remote sensing becomes an important means of data acquisition for survey and mapping, and geographic information updating in China.The updating period of 4D products in China is shortened by one third, the geographic information updating capability was improved more than 2 times.After more than eight years of stable and continued earth observation, ZY-3 statellites data coverage has gradually achieved more than half of the earth land which enables the overseas service for global geospatial application. Focusing on the Chinese domestic mapping applications and services, the data of ZY-3 and other domestic land observation satellites can be real-time pushed and distributed across China through the satellite cloud service platform, and worldwide for facilitating the "Belt and Road" initiative, which is promoted through the GEOSS as well for global application.This paper presents the overseas geometric accuracy evaluation and validation of ZY-3 satellites images, which was carried out systematically for the first time abroad and complements with China’s mapping evaluation practices to provide a comprehensive technical guidelines for global mapping application. The direct location accuracy of ZY-3 satellites sensor corrected image products were further evaluated and verified cooperating with the University of Vienna, Austria. The location deviations in mountain area and in flat area were analyzed and compared to check the deviation pattern and validate their consistency with the results in China.Utilizing China’s ZY-3 satellites images ranging from 2012–2018, the DSM was generated automatically based on a semiglobal optimization method (Yue et al. 2016) using self-developed software SDP without ground control points but using SRTM data as elevation reference to improve the geometric accuracy. The result shows the elevation accuracy of DSM is 3.19 m (RMSE), satisfying the local requirement for 10m interval contour mapping.The planar accuracy of DOM generated without ground control points utilizing ZY-3 satellites images within 2012–2015 is 2.46 m (RMSE). With 128 orthorectified aerial photo slots provided by NGD of Laos as reference, the planar accuracy of the DOM generated utilizing ZY-3 satellites images from 2016–2018 is 1.65 m (RMSE), which can satisfy the local 1:25000 planar accuracy requirement and overlay with the local 1:2000 transportation data exactly. The overseas geometric accuracy evaluation and validation of ZY-3 satellites images provides a systematic and practical guidance for future global applications by complementing with china’s experience, which would be beneficial to overseas users in acknowledging the usage of ZY-3 satellites data and help to promote it’s global applications.

IκB kinase α (IKKα) is associated with tumourigenesis, metastasis, and poor prognosis. However, its expression and function in oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) remain unknown. The aim of this study was to elucidate the clinicopathological associations and functions of IKKα in oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). We made an immunohistochemical analysis of IKKα in 94 tissue microarrays of specimens of oral SCC. We also examined IKKα expression in the patients' samples by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), as well as the migration, invasion, and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity of the cells under IKKα knockdown treatment. In oral SCC, immunostaining for IKKα was found in 60 of the 94 patients, and it correlated with lymph node status and poor prognosis. Sestamibi Single-Positron Emission Computed Tomography/Diagnostic-quality Computed Tomography (MIBI-SPECT/CT) is a common technology used for primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) localization in clinical practice. However, the clinicopathologic factors affecting the accuracy of MIBI-SPECT/CT and the potential limitations remain unclear.Retrospectively enrolled PHPT patients (n = 280) were analyzed from August 2017 to December 2019.Of 96 patients with PHPT (mean age, 54 years; 63 females), 17 had discordance between MIBI-SPECT/CT and intraoperative findings. Among the 17 patients with discordance, 58.8% had major discordance, which occurred in most patients with multigland disease (MGD). Compared with concordant patients, discordant patients exhibited increased frequencies of autoimmune thyroid disease (29.4% vs 10.1%, p = 0.035), MDG (41.2% vs 3.8%, p = 0.035), higher PTH (296 pg/mL vs 146 pg/mL; p = 0.012),and lower phosphorus levels (0.77 mmol/L vs 0.90 mmol/L; p = 0.024). MDG (odds ratio [OR], 16.95; 95% CI 2.10-142.86), parathyroid lesion size of 12 mm or less (OR, 6.93; 95% CI 1.41-34.10), and a PTH level higher than 192.5 pg/mL (OR, 12.66; 95% CI 2.17-71.43) were independently associated with discordant MIBI-SPECT/CT results.MGD was most strongly associated with discordance between MIBI-SPECT/CT and intraoperative findings followed by a PTH level higher than 192.5 pg/mL and parathyroid lesion size of 12 mm or less. Surgeons should recognize these potential limitations, which may improve the preoperative procedure by encouraging further localization imaging and promptly facilitate intraoperative troubleshooting.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for more than 80% of lung cancer. CircRNA is a new type of non-coding RNA. CircRNA was found to be deeply involved in the regulation of NSCLC cells. However, the principle of CircRNA regulating NSCLC cells needs to be further explored.The relative mRNA expression levels of CircRNA_103993, miR-1271 and ERG were detected by quantificational real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) in NSCLC cells and human bronchial epithelial cell line HBE. Cell proliferation was detected by the Cell Counting Kit (CCK8) when NSCLC cells were transfected with si-CircRNA_103993, si-NC, miR-1271 mimics, miR-NC, LV-ERG, respectively. The apoptotic rate of NSCLC cells was measured by apoptotic assay and flow Cytometry. The relative mRNA and protein expression levels of PCNA and caspase-3 were detected by Western blot and qRT-PCR.CircRNA_103993 and ERG were significantly up-regulated while miR-1271 was significantly down-regulated in NSCLC cells. Knockdown of CircRNA_103993 and high expression of miR-1271 significantly inhibited NSCLC cell proliferation and promoted apoptosis. The double luciferin report showed that CircRNA_103993 served as a sponge of miR-1271 and miR-1271 could directly target ERG in NSCLC cells. More importantly, low expression of CircRNA_103993 increased the expression level of miR-1271, and high expression of miR-1271 decreased the expression level of ERG. Further experiments showed that miR-1271 inhibitors reversed the effect of si-CircRNA_103993 on proliferation and apoptosis of NSCLC cells. However, miR-1271 mimics significantly promoted the effects of si-CircRNA_103993 on the proliferation and apoptosis. Moreover, LV-ERG reversed the effect of miR-1271 mimics on proliferation and apoptosis of NSCLC cells. However, si-ERG significantly promoted the effects of miR-1271 mimics on the proliferation and apoptosis.CircRNA_103993 was highly expressed in NSCLC cells. CircRNA_103993 regulated proliferation and apoptosis of NSCLC cells by acting as a sponge of miR-1271. The CircRNA_103993 /miR-1271/ ERG axis had an important effect on the proliferation and apoptosis of NSCLC cells. Therefore, CircRNA_103993 may be a target for treating lung cancer.

To study the effect of Apelin-13/APJ system on intervertebral disc degeneration and its mechanism.This study detected the expression of APJ in human intervertebral disc tissue with varying degrees of degeneration. IL-1β is used to stimulate the degeneration of nucleus pulposus cells. We used recombinant human Apelin-13 and Ala13 to activate and inhibit the APJ receptor, respectively. The inhibitor LY294002 was used to inhibit the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. We studied the effects of Apelin-13/APJ system on nucleus pulposus cells and its mechanism by Western blot, RT-PCR, and so on.APJ is lowly expressed in the nucleus pulposus of patients with a high degree of degeneration. IL-1β stimulates the nucleus pulposus cells and reduces the expression of APJ in nucleus pulposus cells. Recombinant human Apelin-13 reduces the degradation of nucleus pulposus extracellular matrix, promotes proliferation, and reduces the levels of apoptosis and inflammation. In addition, the Apelin-13/APJ system increases the expression of PI3K and AKT and activates the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.Apelin-13/APJ system activates PI3K/AKT signaling pathway activity, reduces the degradation of nucleus pulposus extracellular matrix, promotes proliferation, and reduces the level of apoptosis and inflammation, thus delaying the degeneration of the intervertebral disc.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary crude protein (CP) levels of semi-purified diets on the additivity of values for standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of amino acids (AA) in mixed diets from multiple protein sources for growing pigs. A total of 28 barrows (initial BW, 66.4 ± 1.3 kg) were surgically fitted with simple T-cannulas at the distal ileum and assigned to a replicated 14 × 4 incomplete Latin square design with 14 diets and 4 periods. The 14 experimental diets consisted of a nitrogen-free diet; a corn-based diet (80 g CP/kg); nine semi-purified diets containing soya bean meal (SBM), canola meal (CM) or corn distillers dried grains with solubles (cDDGS), each type (protein source) of semi-purified diets supplied 80, 120 or 160 g CP/kg, respectively; three mixed diets based on corn, SBM, CM and cDDGS formulated to contain 120, 160 and 200 g CP/kg respectively. Pigs were fed each of the 14 diets during a seven-day period, and ileal digesta were collected from 08:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m on day 6 and 7. Chromic oxide was added as an indigestible marker. Results indicated that the SID of CP and AA were not affected by CP levels (p > .05). The weak signal from rare event is readily submerged in the background and thus results in substantial challenges in its detection, which spurs researchers to decrease the surroundings background of detectors as low as possible. To this end, a low-background non-adhesive polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) flexible copper-clad laminate (PTFE-FCCL) was prepared by surface treatment. Specifically, the PTFE substrate was processed by ion implantation and the transition layer deposition; the adhesion between PTFE and copper of PTFE-FCCL is found to remain stable after barely immersing in liquid nitrogen. Furthermore, the surface morphology and the dielectric properties of the substrate were characterized and tested. The results presented herein offer a novel method to fabricate electronic substrates that can facilitate rare event detection.

This study aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of Xiangshao granules for treating emotional disorders in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. The current investigation was a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, multicenter trial that included 300 perimenopausal and postmenopausal Chinese women aged 40–60 years. Participants received either a placebo (n = 150) or Xiangshao granules (n = 150) for 8 weeks. Outcome measures included Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA) scores, which were assessed at baseline, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks. The primary efficacy variables were changes in HAMD and HAMA scores after 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, the mean HAMD scores decreased from 15.0 to 7.9 in the Xiangshao group and from 16.3 to 10.0 in the placebo group, and the respective mean reductions in HAMA scores were from 16.0 to 8.5 and from 17.1 to 10.9. Clinical improvements in symptoms of both depression and anxiety after 8 weeks differed significantly in the two groups (p Xiangshao granules can relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety significantly and safely.

The chemical flooding in Daqing Oilfield has entered the following water flooding stage, and about more than 50% of the crude oil remains in the reservoir. In order to maintain the sustainable and effective development of oilfield, the formulation of chemical flooding system suitable for after chemical flooding is studied. The surfactants in field application at home and abroad were investigated. The foam and interfacial properties of the surfactants were measured through a foam scanner and an interfacial tension tester. The properties of the surfactant system were optimized by using compound method. The injection pressure and oil displacement effect of surfactant system were studied by physical simulation experiment. The results show that the compatibility of DWS or AOS with oilfield sewage and polymer is good, and the foaming property and foam stability of DWS or AOS with polymer binary system are good. The ultra-low interfacial tension is formation between DWS and crude oil under oilfield sewage conditions. The foaming property and foam stability of DWS/AOS or DWS/RFD system are good. When the binary system is aged for three months under the condition of nitrogen, the viscosity retention rate is more than fifty percent. The viscosity stability under the condition of nitrogen is better than that in the air. When the liquid–gas ratio is 1:1, the pressure gradient and displacement effect of foam-flooding are the best. This gives a method to improve oil recovery after chemical flooding and provides a basic guarantee for oilfield development.

To investigate the roles of miR-15a-3p in ovarian cancer cell growth and metastasis.A key role of miR-15a-3p was identified via gene profiling and bioinformatics analysis. The impact of miR-15a-3p on ovarian cancer cell growth, migration and invasion was measured by 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT), wound-healing and transwell invasion assays. Bioinformatics and luciferase reporter assays were applied to identify that twist family BHLH transcription factor 1 (Twist1) was the target gene of miR-15a-3p. The miR-15a-3p level and the expression of Twist1 were detected using quantitative Real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) assay. The expressions of N-cadherin and E-cadherin were measured by immunofluorescence staining. Small interfering RNA targeting Twist1 and pCDNA3.1 containing Twist1 were applied to decrease and increase the expression of Twist1, respectively.miR-15a-3p was markedly down-regulated in ovarian cancer. Exogenous up-regulation of miR-15a-3p inhibited the growth, colony formation, migration and invasion of ovarian cancer cell in vitro. Furthermore, a xenograft model indicated that miR-15a-3p inhibited tumour growth and the metastatic potential of ovarian cancer cell in vivo. We found that Twist1 was the direct target of miR-15a-3p in ovarian cancer and that its expression was negatively correlated with the level of miR-15a-3p in ovarian cancer tissues. Up-regulation of miR-15a-3p rescued the inhibitory impact of miR-15a-3p on ovarian cancer cell growth, migration and invasion. Finally, down-regulation of Twist1 mimicked the suppressive effects of miR-15a-3p on ovarian cancer cell.We demonstrated that miR-15a-3p is down-regulated in ovarian cancer. Up-regulation of miR-15a-3p restrains the growth and metastasis of ovarian cancer cell by regulating Twist1.

Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), a ubiquitous contaminant, has been used in various industrial applications. Currently few studies have documented the effects of chronic PFOS exposure on lipid metabolism, especially in aquatic organisms. The present study defined the effects of chronic exposure to low level of PFOS on lipid metabolism in F0 adult zebrafish and F1 offspring. Our findings revealed a severe fatty degeneration in the liver of F0 males treated with 0.5 μM PFOS and significant ultrastructure changes associated with substance transport or metabolism in liver and intestines (abnormal mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum, disordered arrangement of inner microvilli within intracellular canaliculus). To address the potential trans-generational effects of PFOS exposure, the early gene expression related to lipid metabolism was measured by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction in F1 derived from chronically exposed parental fish. The results indicated that lepa (leptin α), kiss1 (kisspeptins), xdh (xanthine dehydrogenases), and insr (insulin receptor) were significantly upregulated in F1 while dgat1b (diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase), hb9 (motor neuron/pancreas homeobox), and Apoa1 (apolipoprotein A-I) were downregulated. These findings provided evidence that PFOS chronic exposure adversely impacts lipid metabolism in both F0 and F1 and demonstrated the validity of using zebrafish as an alternative model for PFOS chronic toxicity screening.

In view of the lack of research on the mechanism of disc cutter cutting coal rock during the tunnelling process of coal mine rescue tunnel equipment, the ABAQUS software was used to establish the finite element model of single disc cutter crushing coal rock, and the influence of penetration and cutting speed on the rock breaking force during the process of disc cutter crushing coal rock was analyzed. The results show that the average cutting force increases linearly with the penetration and cutting speed. The maximum vertical force of the disc cutter at a penetration of 5mm is 2.6 times that at a penetration of 2mm. The impact of the disc cutter cutting force at a penetration of 3mm is obvious. The average rolling force at a cutting speed of 0.8 rad/s is twice that of a cutting speed of 0.2 rad/s. The impact of the disc cutter cutting force at a cutting speed of 0.5rad/s is obvious. Comprehensively considering the influence of penetration and cutting speed on the average value and fluctuation range of disc cutter cutting force, choosing a moderately large penetration and a large cutting speed parameter combination will help to achieve rapid and safe coal mine emergency rescue tunnelling. The method in this paper provides a basis for the optimization of the cutterhead tunnelling parameters during coal rock cutting.

To better understand the structure-mechanical properties relation of additively manufactured Ti-6Al-4V (Ti64) alloys, a comparison study was performed on Ti64 alloys fabricated by powder-based selective laser melting (SLM) and sintering methods. It is found that the SLM Ti64 alloy has prior β grains filled with (lath α + needle α′) structure. While Ti64 alloys sintered over and below β → α transformation temperature have widmanstatten α + β and lamellar α + β structure, respectively. The SLM Ti64 alloy has higher strength and hardness than sintered alloys, but possesses similar Young's modulus to the spark plasma sintered alloy. The mechanisms leading to the different mechanical properties are discussed based on phase compositions and contents. The results suggest that SLM Ti64 alloys potentially have better mechanical performance compared with those fabricated by conventional sintering methods.

Synaptosomal-associated protein 29 (SNAP29) is a member of the SNARE family of proteins involved in maintenance of various intracellular protein trafficking pathways. SNAP29 maps to the 22q11.2 region and is deleted in 90% of patients with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2DS). However, the contribution of hemizygosity of SNAP29 to developmental abnormalities in 22q11.2DS remains to be determined. Mutations in SNAP29 are responsible for the developmental syndrome called CEDNIK (cerebral dysgenesis, neuropathy, ichthyosis, and keratoderma). On an inbred C57Bl/6J genetic background, only the ichthyotic skin defect associated with CEDNIK was reported. In this study, we show that loss of function mutation of Snap29 on a mixed genetic background not only models skin abnormalities found in CEDNIK, but also phenocopy ophthalmological, neurological, and motor defects found in these patients and a subset of 22q11.2DS patients. Thus, our findings indicate that mouse models of human syndromes should be analyzed on a mixed genetic background. Our work also reveals an unanticipated requirement for Snap29 in male fertility, and support contribution of hemizygosity for SNAP29 to the phenotypic spectrum of abnormalities found in 22q11.2DS patients.

Elemental mapping of 2D and 3D surface distributions of inorganic filler in silicone rubber composites were obtained to analyze the information on the types and locations of the agglomerates. The elemental mapping of surface distribution in the samples were plotted by selecting the characteristic line strength of the elements, such as C, O, Al, Na, K, etc. Compared with the distribution of O and the accumulation of Al, the location of ATH filler and Al 2 O 3 particles can be characterized by the spectral line intensity distribution of Al. The identification of the agglomerates was confirmed with SEM/EDS. In addition, the surface distribution of Na is similar to K, which reflect the locations of contamination on the surface of the sample. This indicates that the 2D element mapping by LIBS can characterize the distribution of insulator contamination. On the basis of the strong linear relationship between the number of laser pulse bombardment and the depth of ablation, The 3D spatial information was obtained by continuously accumulating the intensity distribution of a single bombardment. The content and locations of Al abruptly decay and eventually stabilize with the increase of the depth of ablation. Finally, before and after ablation of the morphology were compared by the SEM/EDS. The lower the content of ATH filler, the more ablated the bottom of the ablation pit. LIBS has a great advantage in scanning speed and scanning area comparing to EDS/SEM. The obtained elemental images provide a valuable basis for further interpretation.

Introduction Viperin, a virus-inducible antiviral protein, has been reported to inhibit the replication of a variety of viruses. However, its expression and function in trophoblast cells remains unclear. Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) is a key component of the innate immune system that recognizes viral double-stranded RNA and triggers immune reactions by producing type I interferon. We hypothesized that viperin inhibits the replication of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) in trophoblast cells. Methods In situ examinations of viperin expression was conducted in the human first-trimester placenta by immunohistochemical staining. Using a human trophoblast cell culture system, we studied the effect of TLR-3 ligation on viperin expression by treating trophoblasts with polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid [Poly (I: C)] (a synthetic double-stranded RNA, which mimics viral RNA). Viperin mRNA and protein expression were evaluated by real-time PCR and Western blot analysis. In a HCMV infected Swan 71 cell model, HCMV immediate early 1 (IE1) protein mRNA expression was evaluated by real-time PCR after viperin RNA interference. Results Viperin was localized in trophoblast cells. Poly (I: C) induced viperin expression in a dosage and time-dependent manner. Blocking of TLR3 signaling by neutralizing antibody against IFN-β abolished the stimulation of viperin expression. After HCMV infection, expression of viperin mRNA and protein was unregulated. HCMV IE1 mRNA expression was significantly inhibited by viperin RNA interference. Discussion Viperin is a virus-responsive protein that is constitutively expressed in human trophoblast cells. However, contrary to our hypothesis, viperin facilitates HCMV replication post infection.

A precision measurement by AMS of the positron fraction in primary cosmic rays in the energy range from 0.5 to 500 GeV based on 10.9 million positron and electron events is presented. This measurement extends the energy range of our previous observation and increases its precision. The new results show, for the first time, that above ∼200 GeV the positron fraction no longer exhibits an increase with energy.

In order to explore the dynamic stress distribution, attenuation characteristics of subgrade under high-speed train load, a three-dimensional solid model was established by the ABAQUS finite element software, and the dynamic stress characteristics of subgrade of high-speed railway were calculated and analyzed. The research results show that: The distribution of additional dynamic stress on the surface of subgrade is close to elliptical, and the distribution on the cross section is similar to saddle-shaped; the peak value of stress appears below the rail. The additional dynamic stress of the subgrade has no superposition effect between the front rear bogie and the rear front bogie of the two trains. The additional dynamic stress distribution of the subgrade surface can be regarded as four stress waves that do not overlap each other. When the contact degradation shape of the subgrade gravel and the track structure concrete base is assumed to be rectangular, the aspect ratio is between 2 and 3.3. With the deterioration of the contact state, the maximum additional dynamic stress of the surface layer of the subgrade is 120 kPa.

The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer AMS-02 [1]?[4] is an astro particle physics experiment running on the International Space Station (ISS; see Figure 1) since May 19, 2011. Its missions include the search for antimatter and the identifcation of the nature of dark matter. The AMS silicon tracker is the only subdetector inside the AMS permanent magnet that can detect the charge of a moving particle to distinguish an anti-particle from particle (see Table 1 for nomenclature).

DFT calculations were performed for diphenyl sulfide and diphenyl sulfone. The electrochemistry of diphenyl sulfide on the gold electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammety and the results show that standard electrode potential for redox couple diphenyl sulfone/diphenyl sulfide is 1.058 V, which is consistent with that of 1.057 calculated at B3LYP/6-31++G(d,p)-IEFPCM level. The front orbit theory and Mulliken charges of molecular explain well on the oxidation of diphenyl sulfide in oxidative desulfurization. According to equilibrium theory the experimental equilibrium constant in the oxidative desulfurization of H2O2, is 1.17 × 1048, which is consistent with the theoretical equilibrium constant is 2.18 × 1048 at B3LYP/6-31++G(d,p)-IEFPCM level.

We present a measurement of the cosmic ray (e^+ + e^-) flux in the range 0.5 GeV to 1 TeV based on the analysis of 10.6 million (e^+ + e^-) events collected by AMS. The statistics and the resolution of AMS provide a precision measurement of the flux. The flux is smooth and reveals new and distinct information. Above 30.2 GeV, the flux can be described by a single power law with a spectral index γ = −3.170 +/- 0.008 (stat + syst) +/- 0.008 (energy scale)

Schistosoma japonicum is the main schistosome species in The People's Republic of China, causing intestinal schistosomiasis, a debilitating disease of public health importance. The People's Republic of China used to be heavily endemic with schistosomiasis, but great progress has been made through the vigorous efforts of the national control programmes in the last six decades. Presently, efforts are geared towards eliminating schistosomiasis from The People's Republic of China by the end of 2025 through effective schistosomiasis surveillance, an important component in the drive towards schistosomiasis elimination. Therefore, this article explicitly outlines the development and progress made in schistosomiasis surveillance since 1990 with a special focus on the new surveillance system in use. Although the surveillance system has steadily improved over the years, it is faced with many challenges. Hence, more efforts are needed to establish an effective and sensitive evaluation system for the national schistosomiasis elimination programme in The People's Republic of China.

Schistosomiasis japonica is caused by the parasitic trematode Schistosoma japonicum. It is endemic in The People's Republic of China and has significant impact on human health and socioeconomic development in certain regions. Over the last six decades, the national control programmes evolved in remarkable ways and brought schistosomiasis japonica largely under control. We describe the history and evolution of schistosomiasis control in The People's Republic of China, with an emphasis on shifts in control strategies that evolved with new insights into the biology of the parasite and its intermediate hosts, and the epidemiology of the disease in the country. We also highlight the achievements in controlling the disease in different socioecological settings, and identify persisting challenges to fully eliminate schistosomiasis japonica from the country. To reach the goal of schistosomiasis elimination, further integration of interventions, multisector collaboration, sensitive and effective surveillance are needed to strengthen.

Schistosomiasis caused by Schistosoma japonicum is a severe parasitic disease in The People's Republic of China and imposed considerable burden on human and domestic animal health and socioeconomic development. The significant achievement in schistosomiasis control has been made in last 60years. Oncomelania hupensis as the only intermediate host of S. japonicum plays a key role in disease transmission. The habitat complexity of the snails challenges to effective control. In this review we share the experiences in control and research of O. hupensis.

Electrochemical reduction of tartrazine on multi-walled carbon nanotube-modied pyrolytic graphite electrode is investigated. A simple, sensitive and inexpensive method for determination of tartrazine in drinks is proposed. The accuracy and reproducibility of the determination method for various known amounts of tartrazine were evaluated. This method was satisfactorily applied for the determination of tartrazine in drinks. The reduction peak currents were proportional to tartrazine concentrations over two intervals in the range from 2.0 to 70.0 mg l−1 and from 70.0 to 230.0 mg l−1, and the detection limit for tartrazine is 0.5 mg l−1.

The effects of the process parameters on the warpge and shrinkage of parts in different thickness are analyzed by Taguchi optimization method. Taguchi optimization method was used for exploiting mold analysis based on three level factorial designs. Orthogonal arrays of Taguchi, the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) are utilized to find the optimal levels and the effect of process parameters on warpage. It can be concluded that Taguchi method is suitable to solve the quality problem of the injection-molded thermoplastic parts.
