Rate-Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA) is a promising strategy for ensuring robust transmission in multi-antenna wireless systems. In this paper, we investigate the performance of RSMA in a downlink Decode-and-Forward (DF) relay scenario under two phases with imperfect Channel State Information (CSI) at the transmitter and the relay. In particular, in the first phase, the Base Station (BS) initially transmits to both BS Users (BUs) and the relay. In the second phase, the relay decodes and forwards the received signals to Relay Users (RUs) outside the BS coverage area. Furthermore, we investigate a scenario where the relay broadcasts a common stream intended for the RUs in the second phase. Due to the broadcast nature of the transmission, this stream is inadvertently received by both the RUs and the BUs. Concurrently, the BS utilizes Spatial Division Multiple Access (SDMA) to transmit private streams to the BUs, resulting in BUs experiencing residual interference from the common stream transmitted from relay. Incorporating this residual common stream interference into our model results in a significant enhancement of the overall sum-rate achieved at the BUs. We derive a tractable lower bound on the ergodic sum-rates, enables us to develop closed-form solutions for power allocation that maximize the overall sum-rate in both phases. Extensive simulations validate that our proposed power allocation algorithm, in conjunction with a low-complexity precoder, significantly improves the sum-rate performance of DF relay RSMA networks compared to the SDMA-based benchmark designs under imperfect CSI at the transmitter and relay.

Rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) is a multiple access scheme to mitigate the effects of the multi-user interference (MUI) in multi-antenna systems. In this study, we leverage the interference management capabilities of RSMA to tackle the issue of inter-carrier interference (ICI) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform. We formulate a sum-rate maximization problem to find the optimal subcarrier and power allocation for downlink transmission in a two-user system using RSMA and OFDM. A weighted minimum mean-square error (WMMSE)-based algorithm is proposed to obtain a solution for the formulated non-convex problem. We show that the marriage of rate-splitting (RS) with OFDM provides complementary strengths to cope with peculiar characteristic of wireless medium and its performance-limiting challenges including inter-symbol interference (ISI), MUI, ICI, and inter-numerology interference (INI). The sum-rate performance of the proposed OFDM-RSMA scheme is numerically compared with that of conventional orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and OFDM-non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). We present a cross-comparison of three stop-flow configurations--such as low-pressure (LSF), high-pressure open-circuit (OC-HSF), and high-pressure short-circuit (SC-HSF) stop-flow--to rapidly bring a high flow velocity within a microchannel to a standstill. The average velocities inside the microchannels were reduced from > 1 m/s to < 10 um/s within 2s of initiating the stop-flow. The performance of the three stop-flow configurations was assessed by measuring the residual flow velocities within microchannels having three orders-of-magnitude different flow resistances. The LSF configuration outperformed the OC-HSF and SC-HSF configurations within the high flow resistance microchannel, and resulted in a residual velocity of < 10 um/s. The OC-HSF configuration resulted in a residual velocity of < 150 um/s within a low flow resistance microchannel. The SC-HSF configuration resulted in a residual velocity of < 200 um/s across the three orders-of-magnitude different flow resistance microchannels, and < 100 um/s for the low flow resistance channel. We hypothesized that the residual velocity resulted from the compliance in the fluidic circuit, which was further investigated by varying the elasticity of the microchannel walls and the connecting tubing. A numerical model was developed to estimate the expanded volumes of the compliant microchannel and connecting tubings under a pressure gradient and to calculate the distance traveled by the sample fluid. A comparison of the numerically and experimentally obtained traveling distances confirmed our hypothesis that the residual velocities were an outcome of the compliance in the fluidic circuit. Therefore, a configuration with minimal fluidic circuit compliance resulted in the least residual velocity.

Although machine translation systems are mostly designed to serve in the general domain, there is a growing tendency to adapt these systems to other domains like literary translation. In this paper, we focus on English-Turkish literary translation and develop machine translation models that take into account the stylistic features of translators. We fine-tune a pre-trained machine translation model by the manually-aligned works of a particular translator. We make a detailed analysis of the effects of manual and automatic alignments, data augmentation methods, and corpus size on the translations. We propose an approach based on stylistic features to evaluate the style of a translator in the output translations. We show that the human translator style can be highly recreated in the target machine translations by adapting the models to the style of the translator.

In this study, Higgs production processes, Higgsstrahlung and vector boson (W and Z) fusion processes, were investigated for four different future lepton colliders (CEPC, ILC, CLIC, and FCC-ee). The cross sections for each production process and corresponding backgrounds were calculated considering the ISR and beamstrahlung effects. Various cuts and the b-tagging method were used to reduce the background. Finally, the number of events for each collider was determined, and significance calculations were performed. In our calculations, high event numbers were obtained for all four colliders for the Higgsstrahlung, W, and Z fusion process. This shows that electron-positron colliders will play an important role in future Higgs physics research., Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures

Data-driven methods are widely used to overcome shortcomings of Monte Carlo simulations (lack of statistics, mismodeling of processes, etc.) in experimental high energy physics. A precise description of background processes is crucial to reach the optimal sensitivity for a measurement. However, the selection of the control region used to describe the background process in a region of interest biases the distribution of some physics observables, rendering the use of such observables impossible in a physics analysis. Rather than discarding these events and/or observables, we propose a novel method to generate physics objects compatible with the region of interest and properly describing the correlations with the rest of the event properties. We use a generative adversarial network (GAN) for this task, as GANs are among the best generator models for various applications. We illustrate the method by generating a new misidentified photon for the $\gamma + \mathrm{jets}$ background of the $\mathrm{H}\to\gamma\gamma$ analysis at the CERN LHC, and demonstrate that this GAN generator is able to produce a coherent object correlated with the different properties of the rest of the event.

Polynomial Networks (PNs) have demonstrated promising performance on face and image recognition recently. However, robustness of PNs is unclear and thus obtaining certificates becomes imperative for enabling their adoption in real-world applications. Existing verification algorithms on ReLU neural networks (NNs) based on classical branch and bound (BaB) techniques cannot be trivially applied to PN verification. In this work, we devise a new bounding method, equipped with BaB for global convergence guarantees, called Verification of Polynomial Networks or VPN for short. One key insight is that we obtain much tighter bounds than the interval bound propagation (IBP) and DeepT-Fast [Bonaert et al., 2021] baselines. This enables sound and complete PN verification with empirical validation on MNIST, CIFAR10 and STL10 datasets. We believe our method has its own interest to NN verification. Recently proposed Future Circular Collider based muon-proton colliders will allow investigating lepton-hadron interactions at the highest center-of-mass energy. In this study, we investigate the potential of these colliders for a four-fermion contact interactions search. Regarding the constructive and destructive interferences of contact interactions, we estimated discovery, observation, and exclusion limits on the compositeness scale for the left-left, right-right, left-right, and right-left helicity structures. The coexistence of different wireless communication systems such as LTE and Wi-Fi by sharing the unlicensed band is well studied in the literature. In these studies, various methods are proposed to support the coexistence of systems, including listen-before-talk mechanism, joint user association and resource allocation. However, in this study, the coexistence of different waveform structures in the same resource elements are studied under the theory of non-orthogonal multiple access. This study introduces a paradigm-shift on NOMA towards the application-centric waveform coexistence. Throughout the paper, the coexistence of different waveforms is explained with two specific use cases, which are power-balanced NOMA and joint radar-sensing and communication with NOMA. In addition, some of the previous works in the literature regarding non-orthogonal waveform coexistence are reviewed. However, the concept is not limited to these use cases. With the rapid development of wireless technology, next-generation wireless systems are proposed to be flexible and hybrid, having different kinds of capabilities such as sensing, security, intelligence, control, and computing. In this study, a novel transmission scheme is proposed to serve radar-sensing and communication objectives at the same time and allocated bandwidth. The proposed transmitted frame non-orthogonally superimposes two different waveforms, which are frequency modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) for radar-sensing and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) for communication. Also, the receiver scheme that performs channel estimation via radar-sensing functionality without degrading data rate of communication operation is introduced. As numerically evaluated, the proposed system achieves good sensing accuracy even if the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is low, and communication performance is only 0.6 dB less at the target bit-error rate (BER) of 1% compared to the assumption of perfect channel state information (CSI) without any pilot overhead over OFDM subcarriers., Comment: Accepted for presentation in VTC 2020 Fall Workshop

This paper introduces a novel non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) concept named waveform-domain NOMA, which proposes the coexistence of different waveforms in the same resource element (RE). Regarding the demands of each user equipments (UEs), appropriate waveforms are assigned intelligently and decoded at the receiver side properly. Since the performance gain of power-domain NOMA compared to multi-user multiple-input-multiple-output (MU-MIMO) degrades in the case of successive interference cancellation (SIC) and channel estimation errors, NOMA is not considered as a work-item in 3GPP anymore. The novel waveform-domain NOMA concept provides a remedy for the problems of the power-domain NOMA scheme as well as flexibility in terms of reliability, latency, and energy efficiency. To mitigate SIC errors, low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes aided soft interference cancellation technique is used. We propose a practical inexact augmented Lagrangian method (iALM) for nonconvex problems with nonlinear constraints. We characterize the total computational complexity of our method subject to a verifiable geometric condition, which is closely related to the Polyak-Lojasiewicz and Mangasarian-Fromowitz conditions. In particular, when a first-order solver is used for the inner iterates, we prove that iALM finds a first-order stationary point with $\tilde{\mathcal{O}}(1/\epsilon^4)$ calls to the first-order oracle. If, in addition, the problem is smooth and a second-order solver is used for the inner iterates, iALM finds a second-order stationary point with $\tilde{\mathcal{O}}(1/\epsilon^5)$ calls to the second-order oracle, which matches the known theoretical complexity result in the literature. We also provide strong numerical evidence on large-scale machine learning problems, including the Burer-Monteiro factorization of semidefinite programs, and a novel nonconvex relaxation of the standard basis pursuit template. For these examples, we also show how to verify our geometric condition.

Potential discovery, observation and exclusion limits of excited $u$ and $d$ quarks with gamma+jet final state are researched at the multi-TeV scale colliders, FCC and S$pp$C in this work. Both colliders, FCC and S$pp$C, show that excited $u$ and $d$ quarks could be discovered up to 42.1 TeV and 55.2 TeV for $u^\star$, 30.3 TeV and 39.4 TeV for $d^\star$ and 42.3 TeV and 55.5 TeV mass values for degenerate case (m$_{u^\star}$ = m$_{d^\star}$), respectively. Determination of excited quarks compositeness scale is examined, which will be up to multi-PeV level. Beside these analysis, free parameters ($f_s,\;f\;\text{and}\; f^\prime$) are scanned from around 0.1 up to 1 that show excited quark could be discovered at dozens of TeV with even coupling constants under 0.1., Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures, 3 tables, 6 equations

Future Circular Collider is one of the next generation energy-frontier proton-proton colliders with 100 TeV center of mass energy and promising very high luminosity. FCC will be an extraordinary machine for searching Beyond the Standard Model physics because of its very high center of mass energy and luminosity. Searching supersymmetric particles via R-parity violated interactions could be listed in promising BSM physics at the FCC. Scalar tau neutrino is one of the most interesting predictions. A search for $\widetilde{\nu}_{\tau}$ neutrino decaying into $e\mu$ final state via R-parity violated interactions has been conducted at the FCC-pp. It is seen from this research that FCC-pp will be able to discover $\widetilde{\nu}_{\tau}$ up to 28.8 TeV, observe 32.0 TeV and exclude 34.5 TeV mass values by taking $\lambda_{311}^{\prime}=0.11$ and $\lambda_{312}=\lambda_{321}=0.07$ at $\mathcal{L}_{int}=17500\,fb^{-1}$. FCC-pp, also, will allow to examine very low values of the Yukawa coupling constants which cause R-parity violation interactions. It is obviously seen that FCC-pp will give an opportunity for detailed research on scalar tau neutrino production and decay via R-parity violated interactions., Comment: 14 pages, 9 figures, 2 tables

Resonant production of excited $u$ and $d$ quarks at the Future Circular Collider and Super proton-proton Collider have been researched. Dominant jet-jet decay mode has been considered. It is shown that FCC and SppC have great potential for discovery of excited $u$ ($d$) quark: up to 44.1 (36.3) and 58.4 (47.8) TeV masses, respectively. For degenerate case (M$_{u^{\star}}$ = M$_{d^{\star}}$), these values are 45.9 and 60.9 TeV, respectively. In this study, effects of the shell material and confinement type on the conversion efficiency of the core/shell quantum dot nanocrystal (QDNC) solar cells have been investigated in a detail manner. For this purpose, the conventional, i.e original, detailed balance model, developed by Shockley and Queisser to calculate an upper limit for conversion efficiency of silicon p-n junction solar cells, is modified in a simple and an effective way and calculated the conversion efficiency of core/shell QDNC solar cells. Since the existing model relies on the gap energy ($E_g$) of the solar cell, it does not make an estimation about the effect of QDNC materials on the efficiency of the solar cells and gives the same efficiency values for several QDNC solar cells with the same $E_g$. The proposed modification, however, estimates a conversion efficiency in relation to the material properties and also confinement type of the QDNCs. The results of the modified model show that, in contrast to the original one, the conversion efficiencies of different QDNC solar cells, even if they have the same $E_g$, become different depending upon the confinement type and shell material of the core/shell QDNCs and this is crucial in design and fabrication of the new generation solar cells to predict the confinement type and also appropriate QDNC materials for better efficiency., Comment: 17 pages, 5 figures, Accepted by Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter
