Abstract

Bucket wheel excavators, spreaders, reclaimers etc. are a group of heavy machines commonly used in the mining, power and bulk-handling industry. As machines of this type are used worldwide in various operational conditions, different design and testing approaches were developed. The paper presents and compares the theoretical assumptions stated in most common standards (DIN, AS, ISO, BG…) as well in the technical and scientific literature. Moreover, the paper presents real life application giving this way the opportunity for reliable assessment of the obtained results over the normative theoretical assumptions.

Abstract

In the paper authors present their attempt in the validation process of the numerical model on the basis of experimental results. The Modal Assurance Criterion between the numerical and experimental model was selected as the indicating factor. Moreover, changes in frequencies and the degrees of freedom influencing the most the correlation level were reconsidered. The numerical and experimental models, in most cases, did not cover the influence of the operational load on the dynamic characteristic of the construction. In the new, operational approach, the change in the numerical model composition must be reconsidered, while the old one is no longer valid. Modal analysis performed out of the operational load, give good results but does not represent actual state of the construction in operation. In that case, we have two separate systems with different dynamic characteristics. Identification of the modal model with use of the Operational Modal Analysis gives the information about the object in operation which is a real point of the interest.

Abstract

Contemporary machine design not only needs to meet the applicable requirements, norms and regulations but also requires a novel approach to the designing process. The article presents the essence and role of experimental and numerical analyses, which are becoming increasingly popular in the designing process and in the testing of dynamically loaded structures. What is particularly important in machine modeling is the accuracy of representation and thus the complexity of the model. In order to fully and accurately represent the reality it is necessary to verify and update the models based on experimental tests.

4. Method of operator safety assessment for underground mobile mining equipment

Abstract

The paper presents a method of assessing the safety of operators of mobile mining equipment (MME), which is adapted to current and future geological and mining conditions. The authors focused on underground mines, with special consideration of copper mines (KGHM). As extraction reaches into deeper layers of the deposit it can activate natural hazards, which, thus far, have been considered unusual and whose range and intensity are different depending on the field of operation. One of the main hazards that affect work safety and can become the main barrier in the exploitation of deposits at greater depths is climate threat. The authors have analysed the phenomena which may impact the safety of MME operators, with consideration of accidents that have not yet been studied and are not covered by the current safety standards for this group of miners. An attempt was made to develop a method for assessing the safety of MME operators, which takes into account the mentioned natural hazards and which is adapted to current and future environmental conditions in underground mines.
