6. Diversity of larger fungi in coniferous communities of Shar Mountain National Park (Republic of North Macedonia) with new country records.

Abstract

Shar Mountain is one of the largest mountain ranges in Republic of North Macedonia, distinguished by outstanding biodiversity, first and foremost owing to the presence of various climate and vegetation features. Published data on the mycota of Shar Mt. is scarce; they refer to specific areas, and there are no systematic data available on occurrence of the species in different forest associations. Therefore, we decided to embark on mycodiversity study of the coniferous communities in this mountain. The material was collected in 2021 and 2022, from six localities: Popova Shapka, Jelak, Shipkovica, Leshnica, the Adzhina Reka river - in natural coniferous woods, and in pine plantations from the vicinity of Rogachevo village. The study resulted in recording of 179 species, two lichenized fungi, and one fungus-like organism. The total number of macromycetes from coniferous communities of Shar Mt. is 214. The phylum Basidiomycota comprises 170 species (where of 6 are gasteroid fungi); 6 species are referred to Ascomycota. It is worth noting the finds of Agaricus altipes, Cortinarius flexipes, C. triformis, Lyophyllum konradianum and Pluteus primus, which are first data for Republic of North Macedonia. 8. NUTRITIONAL AND ANTIOXIDANT PROFILE OF THE MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS PHELLINUS TORULOSUS AND P. IGNIARIUS: INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT EXTRACTANTS ON BIOACTIVITY.

Abstract

The increased demand for natural, safe and dietary antioxidant sources stimulated the exploration of in-vitro reducing and scavenging potentials of extracts from wild medicinal and non-toxic mushrooms with intention of acknowledging their therapeutic values. Based on the findings about enhanced potency of extracts vs. powder, as well as highlighting the antioxidant potential of underexploited wild species from Macedonian territory, our investigations were aimed at screening the reducing and scavenging profiles of hot water (HWEs), cold water (CWEs) and methanol extracts (MEs) from Phellinus torulosus and P. igniarius to promote their usage as nutraceuticals and for medicinal use. MEs from both species exhibited superior scavenging activity over radicals: 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and nitric oxide (NO); enhanced reducing properties and higher total antioxidant capacity, owed to their significantly higher phenol and flavonoid content. In contrast, CWEs established superior ability for inhibiting the lipid peroxides level and glycosylated protein adducts but exposed lower antioxidant properties and reducing abilities. HWE from P. torulosus was a more efficient radical scavenger than P. igniarius, with higher reducing and in-vitro antiglycation capacities, thereby proving its suitability for the treatment against disorders induced by oxidative stress. 9. Macromycetes Diversity of Sharr Mountains in Kosovo.

Abstract

Our study in the Sharr Mountains of Kosovo began in 2017 and included 20 surveyed sites. The predominant vegetation consists of beech and oak forests, but also a forest of Pinus heldreichii, the Balkan endemic pine species. A total of 244 macromycete species were recorded, of which 211 belong to the Basidiomycota phylum and 33 to the Ascomycota phylum. Newly recorded in Kosovo are 95 species. Several species, such as Zeus olympuis, Antrodia ramentacea, Heterosphaeria patella, Kneiffiella abdita and Resupinatus striatulus, are among the rarely recorded ones. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

15. CHECKLIST OF LARGER ASCOMYCETES IN THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA.

Abstract

A comprehensive checklist of all up to date registered ascomycetes from Macedonia was established for the first time. The aim of this study was to summarize all data on ascomycetes and contribute to the knowledge of the presence of these fungi in the country. Information for this checklist are based on data from field mycological research trips, species documented from existing literature, and examined exsiccatae from the Macedonian Collection of fungi (MCF) accompanied with data noted in the MACFUNGI database of fungi. A total number of 255 taxa belonging to larger (macroscopic) ascomycetes were recorded among which 107 species, three varieties and three forms were new records for Macedonia. 17. Distribution and ecology of genus type Tricholoma (Tricholomataceae) in the Republic of Macedonia

Abstract

This is the first publication on publication research of the genus Tricholoma in the Republic of Macedonia. In previous studies, there have been 35 species of this genus identified in the Republic of Macedonia, of the 55 species found in Europe. The following 15 species are new for the mycobiota in the Republic of Macedonia: Tricholoma album, T. apium, T.basirubens, T.colossum, T.columbeta, Tpopulinum, T.pseudonictitans, T.sejunctum, T.stans, T.sulphurenscens, T.tigrinum, T.ustale, T.ustaloides, T.vaccinum and T.viridifucatum. detailed distribution of Tricholoma species in the Republic of Macedonia is presented in this paper as well as their affinity for diffrent habitat types.

A study of mycodiversity in Macedonia is underway. The interest in macrofungi studies in Macedonia has been growing in the past 20 years. According to the research conducted up to now, approximately 2,500 macromycetes species have been recorded in the country. 26. Battarrea phalloides in Macedonia: genetic variability, distribution and ecology

Abstract

Morphological and molecular analyses of Battarrea phalloides from Macedonia were done. While B. phalloides specimens shown three kind of spore ornamentation, each one related to a clade in the phylogenetic ITS nrDNA tree; all specimens from Macedonia shown spores with anastomosing truncate ridges and very low variability of the ITS nrDNA sequences. The low genetic variability of these specimens, could be because of genetic drift.
