Abstract

PurposeThe phase 3 HERITAGE trial demonstrated that the biosimilar trastuzumab-dkst is well tolerated with similar efficacy (measured by overall response rate [ORR] and progression-free survival [PFS]) compared with originator trastuzumab combined with taxane followed by monotherapy in patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Herein, we present final overall survival (OS) from HERITAGE.MethodsHERITAGE is a multicenter, double-blind, randomized, parallel-group study. Patients were randomized 1:1 to receive trastuzumab-dkst or trastuzumab plus taxane followed by continued monotherapy until disease progression. Overall survival was to be assessed at 36 months or after 240 deaths, whichever occurred first, as observed from time of randomization of last patient.ResultsAt the final analysis (36 months), 242 patients in the intention-to-treat population had died during the study: 116 and 124 in the trastuzumab-dkst and trastuzumab groups, respectively, and 1 untreated patient from each treatment group. Median OS by Kaplan-Meier analysis was 35.0 months with trastuzumab-dkst and 30.2 months with trastuzumab. Evaluation of PFS showed a median of 11.1 months in both treatment groups. No new safety concerns were reported from week 48 until the end of the survival follow-up.ConclusionThis is the first phase 3 trial of a trastuzumab biosimilar to report long-term survival data similar to originator trastuzumab in patients with MBC. The comparable long-term OS between the trastuzumab-dkst and originator trastuzumab groups further supports the similarity of trastuzumab-dkst with originator trastuzumab and establishes trastuzumab-dkst as a safe and effective treatment option for patients with HER2-positive MBC. Abstract

In this abstract we describe recent [4,7] and latest work on the determination of affordances in visually perceived 3D scenes. Our method builds on the hypothesis that geometry on its own provides enough information to enable the detection of significant interaction possibilities in the environment. The motivation behind this is that geometric information is intimately related to the physical interactions afforded by objects in the world. The approach uses a generic representation for the interaction between everyday objects such as a mug or an umbrella with the environment, and also for more complex affordances such as humans Sitting or Riding a motorcycle. Experiments with synthetic and real RGB-D scenes show that the representation enables the prediction of affordance candidate locations in novel environments at fast rates and from a single (one-shot) training example. The determination of affordances is a crucial step towards systems that need to perceive and interact with their surroundings. 18. What can I do here? Leveraging Deep 3D saliency and geometry for fast and scalable multiple affordance detection

Abstract

This paper develops and evaluates a novel method that allows for the detection of affordances in a scalable and multiple-instance manner on visually recovered pointclouds. Our approach has many advantages over alternative methods, as it is based on highly parallelizable, one-shot learning that is fast in commodity hardware. The approach is hybrid in that it uses a geometric representation together with a state-of-the-art deep learning method capable of identifying 3D scene saliency. The geometric component allows for a compact and efficient representation, boosting the performance of the deep network architecture which proved insufficient on its own. Moreover, our approach allows not only to predict whether an input scene affords or not the interactions, but also the pose of the objects that allow these interactions to take place. Our predictions align well with crowd-sourced human judgment as they are preferred with 87% probability, show high rates of improvement with almost four times (4x) better performance over a deep learning-only baseline and are seven times (7x) faster than previous art., Comment: 10 pages,9 figures

Abstract

We obtain an approximate global stationary and axisymmetric solution of Einstein's equations which can be thought as a simple two layers star model: a self-gravitating ball built up by two layers of perfect fluid having different linear equation of state moving in a rigid motion pattern. Using the post-Min\-kows\-kian formalism (weak-field approximation) and considering rotation as a perturbation (slow-rotation approximation), we find approximate interior and exterior (asymptotically flat) solutions to this problem in harmonic coordinates. Abstract

Differing from the closed narrative of the whodunit, género negro fiction favors the open textuality of the hardboiled, where content and themes critically codify social and historical contexts. Given this frame of reference, this essay analyzes three representative detective novels of the last fifty years as works of ambiguity and irony that criticize and reinterpret Mexico’s changing society: Rafael Bernal’s El complot mongol casts a cynical eye on the weaknesses of the so-called Mexican “miracle;” Paco Ignacio Taibo’s No habrá final feliz questions police-directed violence against a rebellious populace whose repression exhibits the nation’s “revolutionary” mythology; and Élmer Mendoza’s Balas de plata encodes the patent crisis of an emergent narco state characterized by unheard-of violence, dubious morality, and social paranoia. In a concluding note, Edgar Allan Poe’s and Jorge Luis Borges’s short stories are presented as whodunit counter-examples that anticipate the open narrative of género negro.

35. Geometric Affordances from a Single Example via the Interaction Tensor

Abstract

This paper develops and evaluates a new tensor field representation to express the geometric affordance of one object over another. We expand the well known bisector surface representation to one that is weight-driven and that retains the provenance of surface points with directional vectors. We also incorporate the notion of affordance keypoints which allow for faster decisions at a point of query and with a compact and straightforward descriptor. Using a single interaction example, we are able to generalize to previously-unseen scenarios; both synthetic and also real scenes captured with RGBD sensors. We show how our interaction tensor allows for significantly better performance over alternative formulations. Evaluations also include crowdsourcing comparisons that confirm the validity of our affordance proposals, which agree on average 84% of the time with human judgments, and which is 20-40% better than the baseline methods., Comment: 10 pages, 12 figures

In this study, we tested three diets on 120 laying hens over 15 weeks: a soybean–corn diet, an alternative diet with locally sourced plant-based ingredients (peas, distillers' dried grains with solubles, and sunflower meal), and this alternative feed supplemented with 5% whole dried black soldier fly larvae. The results suggest that a novel alternative diet using fewer conventional ingredients could be developed into a flexible formulation that ensures productivity, sustainability, egg quality, and hen health. Given the significant environmental consequences of current poultry feed practices and the heavy dependence of the European Union on imported soybeans, studying alternatives is crucial. This study evaluated the potential benefits of using locally sourced alternative plant-based ingredients and whole dry black soldier fly larvae in the diet of laying hens. The experiment involved 120 Isazul hens at 23 weeks old, which were divided into three groups with five replicates each (eight hens per replicate): a control diet (CON) based on soybean meal and cereals, an alternative diet (ALT) replacing the soybean meal with locally sourced plant-based resources (peas, distillers' dried grains with solubles, and sunflower meal), and the ALT diet supplemented with 5% whole dry black soldier fly larvae (ALT+DBSFL). Over 15 weeks, the hens were fed ad libitum, and the production performance, egg quality, and plasma biochemical parameters were assessed across three experimental sub-periods. The results showed no significant differences in body weight, feed intake, egg production, egg weight, egg mass, or feed conversion ratio across the diets (p > 0.05). The egg quality remained consistent across all the groups; however, the hens fed the ALT+DBSFL diet exhibited higher Haugh units in the first experimental sub-period (p < 0.05) and lower plasma cholesterol and triglycerides at 32 weeks of age (p < 0.05). The findings of this study indicate that incorporating these alternative ingredients and whole DBSFL into layers' diets does not compromise production performance, egg quality, or biochemical parameters related to health status, supporting their potential as sustainable feed alternatives. Abstract

The Dedicated Bus Lane (DBL) is often adopted to ensure transit priority. This is because transit priority can effectively mitigate congestion at the signalized intersection. However, the DBL would cause heavy sacrifices from general vehicles when the frequency of buses is low. To address this issue, many studies were proposed to reduce general vehicles' sacrifice by converting DBLs into Bus‐Priority Lanes (BPLs). Such BPLs can be intermittently open to general vehicles. However, these studies cannot ensure absolute transit priority when general vehicles access BPLs. With the advance of Connected Automated Vehicle (CAV) technology, this paper proposes a Trajectory‐Based Control (TBC) method for connected automated traffic to approach signalized intersections considering absolute transit priority. A TBC controller is designed to control general vehicles' trajectories to access BPLs without interference with buses. The TBC controller can balance the multiple cost factors and ensure absolute bus priority. The proposed TBC controller is evaluated against the noncontrol baseline and the state‐of‐the‐art TBC. Sensitivity analysis is conducted under four different congestion levels.
