Abstract With the ongoing challenge of air pollution posing serious health and environmental threats, particularly in rapidly industrializing regions, accurate forecasting and effective pollutant identification are crucial for enhancing public health and ecological stability. This study aimed to optimize air quality management through the prediction of the Air Quality Index (AQI) and identification of air pollutants. Our study spans nine representative cities (Hohhot, Yinchuan, Lanzhou, Beijing, Taiyuan, Xi’an, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan) in China, with data collected from January 1, 2015, to November 30, 2021. We proposed a new model for daily AQI prediction, termed VMD-CSA-CNN-LSTM, which employed advanced machine learning techniques, including convolutional neural networks (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) networks, and leveraged the chameleon swarm algorithm (CSA) for hyperparameter optimization, integrated through a variational mode decomposition approach. The model was developed using data from Lanzhou, with a split ratio of 8:1:1 into training, validation, and test sets, achieving an RMSE of 2.25, MAPE of 0.02, adjusted R-squared of 98.91%, and training efficiency of 5.31%. The model was further externally validated in the other eight cities, yielding comparable results, with an adjusted R-squared above 96%, MAPE below 0.1, and RMSE below 7.5. Additionally, we employed a random forest algorithm to identify the primary pollutants contributing to AQI levels. Our results indicated that PM2.5 was the most significant pollutant in Beijing, Taiyuan, and Xi’an, while PM10 was dominant in Hohhot, Yinchuan, and Lanzhou. In Shanghai, Nanjing, and Wuhan, both PM2.5 and PM10 were critical, with ozone also identified as a major air pollutant. This study not only advances the predictive accuracy of AQI models but also aids policymakers by providing a reliable tool for air quality management and strategic planning aimed at pollution reduction. The integration of these advanced computational techniques into environmental monitoring practices offers a promising avenue for enhancing air quality and mitigating pollution-related risks.

Abstract Background Multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO) pose a significant threat to public health. Intensive Care Units (ICU), characterized by the extensive use of antimicrobial agents and a high prevalence of bacterial resistance, are hotspots for MDRO proliferation. Timely identification of patients at high risk for MDRO can aid in curbing transmission, enhancing patient outcomes, and maintaining the cleanliness of the ICU environment. This study focused on developing a machine learning (ML) model to identify patients at risk of MDRO during the initial phase of their ICU stay. Methods Utilizing patient data from the First Medical Center of the People’s Liberation Army General Hospital (PLAGH-ICU) and the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC-IV), the study analyzed variables within 24 h of ICU admission. Machine learning algorithms were applied to these datasets, emphasizing the early detection of MDRO colonization or infection. Model efficacy was evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUROC), alongside internal and external validation sets. Results The study evaluated 3,536 patients in PLAGH-ICU and 34,923 in MIMIC-IV, revealing MDRO prevalence of 11.96% and 8.81%, respectively. Significant differences in ICU and hospital stays, along with mortality rates, were observed between MDRO positive and negative patients. In the temporal validation, the PLAGH-ICU model achieved an AUROC of 0.786 [0.748, 0.825], while the MIMIC-IV model reached 0.744 [0.723, 0.766]. External validation demonstrated reduced model performance across different datasets. Key predictors included biochemical markers and the duration of pre-ICU hospital stay. Conclusions The ML models developed in this study demonstrated their capability in early identification of MDRO risks in ICU patients. Continuous refinement and validation in varied clinical contexts remain essential for future applications.

Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the role and mechanisms of miR-155 in chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU). Methods The expression level of miR-155 in the skin tissues of patients with CSU and experimental rats were detected by RT-qPCR, followed by the measurement of the histamine release rate in the serum through the histamine release test. Besides, hematoxylin & eosin staining was used to observe the pathological changes of the skin tissues; Corresponding detection kits and flow cytometry to measure the changes of immunoglobulins, inflammatory cytokines and T cell subsets in the serum of rats in each group; and western blot to check the expression level of proteins related to JAK/STAT signaling pathway in the skin tissues. Results Knockdown of miR-155 reduced the number and duration of pruritus, alleviated the skin damage, and decreased the number of eosinophils in CSU rats. Moreover, knockdown of miR-155 elevated the serum levels of IgG and IgM, decreased the levels of IgA and inflammatory cytokines, and reduced the proportion of CD4 + and CD4 + CD25 + T cells, as well as the CD4+/CD8 + ratio in CSU rats. However, Tyr705 intervention could reverse the effects of knockdown of miR-155 on CSU model rats. Furthermore, we found that knockdown of miR-155 significantly reduced the protein expression of IRF-9, as well as the P-JAK2/JAK2 and P-STAT3/STAT3 ratios in the skin tissues of CSU rats. Conclusion Knockdown of miR-155 can alleviate skin damage and inflammatory responses and relieve autoimmunity in CSU rats by inhibiting the JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway.

Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to review echocardiography-based diagnosis of persistent fifth aortic arch (PFAA) in children. Methods From January 2015 to December 2022, we retrospectively analyzed the echocardiographic findings and the relevant clinical data during follow-up of patients with PFAA who were treated in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. The diagnosis was confirmed by computed tomography angiography or surgery. Results Seven PFAA cases included two Weinberg type A and five Weinberg type B. The anatomical details of PFAA were assessed using a combination of the long-axis view of the left ventricular outflow tract (from the left high parasternal window) and the long-axis view of the aortic arch (from the suprasternal window). In Weinberg type A, the distal fifth and fourth aortic arches were connected to the descending aorta, which was associated with aortic coarctation. In Weinberg type B, the upper arch of the fourth aorta was interrupted, and only the lower arch of the fifth aorta was connected to the descending aorta. Surgical repair of PFAA was indicated in five patients with blood flow disruption, among which four had good postoperative results and one refused surgery. Two patients with unobstructed PFAA blood flow required follow-up rather than surgery. Conclusions It is feasible to diagnose PFAA by echocardiography. Combined application of the high parasternal left ventricular outflow tract view and the suprasternal aortic arch view can improve timely detection of different types of PFAA in children.

Four novel species of subgenus Russula crown clade collected from northwestern China are described based on morphological and phylogenetic evidence. Morphologically, R. griseorosea Y.Song sp. nov. (subsection Puellarinae) is characterized by its brown pileus with a grayish pink tint, basidiospores with warts often connected by fine lines, orthochromatic pileipellis with long terminal cells and septate pileocystidia; R. micangshanensis Y.Song sp. nov. (subsection Olivaceinae) is diagnosed by its large basidia, hymenial cystidia and basidiospores, and spore ornamentations with unequal crests and often twinned warts, which give the spore distinctive appearance; R. minirosea Y.Song sp. nov. (subsection Laricinae) has very small basidiocarp with pileus less than 3.3 cm in diameter, basidiospores with fine reticulum, small basidia, and septate pileocystidia; R. purpureomarginalis F.Li & Y.Song sp. nov. (subsection Xerampelinae) has large basidiospores with often isolated ornamentations, slim basidia and often septate flexuous pileocystidia. Differences between the four novel species and their closely related taxa were analyzed. Phylogenetic analyses based on both ITS and multi-locus (LSU, rpb2 and tef1) were carried out to confirm the distinct taxonomic status of the four novel species.

ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to investigate the epidemiological and genomic characteristics of Vibrio parahaemolyticus (V. parahaemolyticus) isolates from outbreaks in Huzhou, China.MethodsThis study aims to analyze the epidemiological data on V. parahaemolyticus outbreaks reported in Huzhou from 2019 to 2023. A total of 70 V. parahaemolyticus outbreak isolates were collected. The antibiotic resistance, serotypes, molecular typing, and genomic characteristics of these isolates were analyzed.ResultsMost outbreaks of V. parahaemolyticus infection occurred in the summer, and the majority of outbreaks occurred in restaurants and rural banquets. High resistance rates were observed for ampicillin (AMP, 24.29%), followed by tetracycline (TET, 15.71%) and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (SXT, 15.71%). The newly emerged serotype O10:K4 became dominant from 2021 to 2023, with most isolates belonging to ST3. The resistance gene blaCARB was frequently detected among these isolates. The pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and whole-genome single-nucleotide polymorphisms (wgSNPs) effectively differentiated the nine outbreaks.ConclusionThe newly emerged serotype O10:K4 became dominant from 2021 to 2023, with most isolates being ST3. PFGE and WGS technologies provided reliable methods for typing and identifying V. parahaemolyticus for outbreaks.

BackgroundThe available data exhibit inconsistent findings regarding the association between obesity and sleep problems among older adults. The objective of this study was to assess the potential association between obesity and sleep disorders in the older population.MethodsThe data utilised in this cross-sectional investigation was obtained from the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted between 2005 and 2018. The study employed a multivariate logistic regression model and conducted subgroup analysis to evaluate the association between obesity and sleep disturbance.ResultsThe investigation consisted of 2,570 older people who provided complete information, out of which 324 individuals satisfied the criteria for sleep disturbance. The findings from the multivariable adjusted logistic regression model indicate that individuals in the overweight and normal weight groups exhibited decreased odds of experiencing sleep disorder, as evidenced by the adjusted odds ratios (AOR) of 0.46 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.34–0.61) and 0.33 (95% CI = 0.22–0.47), respectively. To investigate the coupled damage mechanism of blunt impact and bullets penetration after penetrating ballistic plates against human body targets, experiments were conducted using 6.8 mm caliber armor-piercing bullets against gelatin targets with protective coatings. A numerical analysis model was developed to simulate bullet penetration into gelatin with protective coatings, obtaining endpoint characteristic quantities such as bullet velocity changes, changes in energy distribution, pressure, stress, and stress wave variations within the gelatin target after protection. The results indicate that at a velocity of 640 m·s-1, the 6.8 mm caliber armor-piercing round failed to penetrate the ballistic plate yet still caused a blunt impact depression of 37 mm in depth. Under conditions where the bullet did not penetrate the ballistic plate, approximately 80% of the bullet's kinetic energy was absorbed by the ballistic plate. At a velocity of 740 m·s-1, the bullet penetrated the ballistic plate, resulting in a blunt impact depression depth of 56 mm and an instantaneous cavity with a maximum diameter of 60 mm. During the process of penetrating the ballistic plate, approximately 50% of the bullet's kinetic energy was absorbed by the ballistic plate, and about 40% of the remaining kinetic energy transferred into the gelatin during the penetration of the target.

Abstract Wireless internet-of-things (WIoT) with data acquisition sensors are evolving rapidly and the demand for transmission efficiency is growing rapidly. Frequency converter that synthesizes signals at different frequencies and mixes them with sensor datastreams is a key component for efficient wireless transmission. However, existing frequency converters employ separate synthesize and mix circuits with complex digital and analog circuits using complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) devices, naturally incurring excessive latency and energy consumption. Here we report a highly uniform and calibratable VO2 memristor oscillator, based on which we build memristor-based frequency converter using 8 $$\times$$ × 8 VO2 array that can realize in-situ frequency synthesize and mix with help of compact periphery circuits. We investigate the self-oscillation based on negative differential resistance of VO2 memristors and the programmability with different driving currents and calibration resistances, demonstrating capabilities of such frequency converter for in-situ frequency synthesize and mix for 2 ~ 8 channels with frequencies up to 48 kHz for low frequency transmission link. When transmitting classical sensor data (acoustic, vision and spatial) in an end-to-end WIoT experimental setup, our VO2-based memristive frequency converter presents up to 1.45× ~ 1.94× power enhancement with only 0.02 ~ 0.21 dB performance degradations compared with conventional CMOS-based frequency converter. This work highlights the potential in solving frequency converter’s speed and energy efficiency problems in WIoT using high crystalline quality epitaxially grown VO2 and calibratable VO2-based oscillator array, revealing a promising direction for next-generation WIoT system design.

Abstract Conventional circuit elements are constrained by limitations in area and power efficiency at processing physical signals. Recently, researchers have delved into high-order dynamics and coupled oscillation dynamics utilizing Mott devices, revealing potent nonlinear computing capabilities. However, the intricate yet manageable population dynamics of multiple artificial sensory neurons with spatiotemporal coupling remain unexplored. Here, we present an experimental hardware demonstration featuring a capacitance-coupled VO2 phase-change oscillatory network. This network serves as a continuous-time dynamic system for sensory pre-processing and encodes information in phase differences. Besides, a decision-making module for special post-processing through software simulation is designed to complete a bio-inspired dynamic sensory system. Our experiments provide compelling evidence that this transistor-free coupling network excels in sensory processing tasks such as touch recognition and gesture recognition, achieving significant advantages of fewer devices and lower energy-delay-product compared to conventional methods. This work paves the way towards an efficient and compact neuromorphic sensory system based on nano-scale nonlinear dynamics.

Abstract Background The management of small gastric submucosal tumors (SMTs) originating from the muscularis propria layer (SMT-MPs) remains a subject of debate. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is currently considered the optimal treatment for resection. However, high expenses, complex procedures, and the risk of complications have limited its application. Our previously proposed novel operation, precutting endoscopic band ligation (precutting EBL), has been demonstrated in a long-term, single-arm study to be an effective and safe technique for removing small gastric SMTs. However, the absence of a pathological examination and the potential for delayed perforation have raised concerns. Thus, we modified the precutting EBL by adding endoscopic resection to the snare after ligation and closure, yielding the precutting endoscopic band ligation-assisted resection (precutting EBLR). Moreover, the initial pilot study confirmed the safety and efficacy of the proposed approach and we planned a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to further validate its clinical feasibility. Methods This was a prospective, single-center, open-label, parallel group, and randomized controlled trial. Approximately 40 patients with SMT-MPs will be included in this trial. The patients included were allocated to two groups: ESD and precutting EBLR. The basic clinical data of the patients were collected in detail. To better quantify the difference between ESD and precutting EBLR, the primary outcome was set as the operation duration. The secondary outcomes included total operation cost and hospitalization, intraoperative adverse events, and postoperative recurrence. The primary outcome was tested for superiority, while the secondary outcomes were tested for noninferiority. SPSS is commonly used for statistical analysis. Discussion This study was designed to validate the feasibility of a novel operation for removing gastric SMT-MPs. To intuitively assess this phenomenon, the operation durations of precutting EBLR and ESD were compared, and other outcomes were also recorded comprehensively. BackgroundIn recent epochs, the field of critical medicine has experienced significant advancements due to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). Specifically, AI robots have evolved from theoretical concepts to being actively implemented in clinical trials and applications. The intensive care unit (ICU), known for its reliance on a vast amount of medical information, presents a promising avenue for the deployment of robotic AI, anticipated to bring substantial improvements to patient care. ObjectiveThis review aims to comprehensively summarize the current state of AI robots in the field of critical care by searching for previous studies, developments, and applications of AI robots related to ICU wards. In addition, it seeks to address the ethical challenges arising from their use, including concerns related to safety, patient privacy, responsibility delineation, and cost-benefit analysis. MethodsFollowing the scoping review framework proposed by Arksey and O’Malley and the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines, we conducted a scoping review to delineate the breadth of research in this field of AI robots in ICU and reported the findings. The literature search was carried out on May 1, 2023, across 3 databases: PubMed, Embase, and the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Eligible publications were initially screened based on their titles and abstracts. Publications that passed the preliminary screening underwent a comprehensive review. Various research characteristics were extracted, summarized, and analyzed from the final publications. ResultsOf the 5908 publications screened, 77 (1.3%) underwent a full review. These studies collectively spanned 21 ICU robotics projects, encompassing their system development and testing, clinical trials, and approval processes. Upon an expert-reviewed classification framework, these were categorized into 5 main types: therapeutic assistance robots, nursing assistance robots, rehabilitation assistance robots, telepresence robots, and logistics and disinfection robots. Most of these are already widely deployed and commercialized in ICUs, although a select few remain under testing. All robotic systems and tools are engineered to deliver more personalized, convenient, and intelligent medical services to patients in the ICU, concurrently aiming to reduce the substantial workload on ICU medical staff and promote therapeutic and care procedures. This review further explored the prevailing challenges, particularly focusing on ethical and safety concerns, proposing viable solutions or methodologies, and illustrating the prospective capabilities and potential of AI-driven robotic technologies in the ICU environment. Ultimately, we foresee a pivotal role for robots in a future scenario of a fully automated continuum from admission to discharge within the ICU. ConclusionsThis review highlights the potential of AI robots to transform ICU care by improving patient treatment, support, and rehabilitation processes. However, it also recognizes the ethical complexities and operational challenges that come with their implementation, offering possible solutions for future development and optimization.

Recent exploration has revealed that the Middle Triassic Leikoupo Formation 32 Submember (T2l32) in the Sichuan Basin contains unconventional marl reservoirs with significant natural gas potential. Due to limited cores, old wells, and conventional logs, however, the lithological understanding of T2l32 is incomplete and relies solely on inaccurate mud logs. This lack of lithological foundation challenges geology and petroleum research. To identify complex lithology, this paper presents a double-hierarchical workflow to identify seven types of lithology using logs. The first order distinguishes salt, anhydrite, and marl, while the second order further subdivides marl into anhydrite marl, argillaceous limestone, shaly limestone, and limy shale. Different rocks’ logging response characteristics are summarized based on quantity-limited cores and micro-resistivity imaging logs. Lithological identification of 2D and 3D plots is established using sensitive GR, DEN, and RT. Corresponding identification standards are built in two hierarchies. According to these standards, the lithology of T2l32 is identified in a total of 119 wells. Finally, the lithological characteristics of vertical, horizontal, and plane are discussed in the research area. The research results may aid in comprehending the entire lithological characteristics of the complex marl reservoir in T2l32 of the Sichuan Basin. It would help the exploration potential of petroleum systems in turn.

Objectives: The aim of this analysis was to investigate the historical development, current status, and research hot spots related to maxillary protraction in the treatment of maxillary hypoplasia. Methods: The term “TS = maxillary protraction” was used to search for articles in the Web of Science Core Collection at the library of Capital Medical University. The results were analysed using CiteSpace6.2.R1 software, including the examination of annual publication trends and analysis of author, country, institution, and keywords. Results: A total of 483 papers were included in this study. The annual publications showed an overall increasing trend. The top 5 authors with the most published papers were Lorenzo Franchi, Tiziano Baccetti, Seung-Hak Baek, Paola Cozza, and U Hagg. The top 5 countries with the highest publication counts were the US, Turkey, South Korea, Italy, and China. The top 5 institutions in terms of the number of published papers were the University of Florence, the University of Michigan, Kyung Hee University, Seoul National University, and Gazi University. The top 3 journals with the most citations were the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Angle Orthodontist, and the European Journal of Orthodontics. Furthermore, “Maxillary protraction,” “Class III malocclusion,” and “Maxillary expansion” were the most common keywords. Conclusions: The effective age range for maxillary protraction has been expanded with the introduction of skeletal anchorage and the combination of maxillary expansion and protraction. Skeletal anchorage offers significant advantages over dental anchorage, but there is a need for further research to further substantiate its stability and safety. In recent years, the positive effects of maxillary protraction on the nasopharyngeal area have been well established, but its impact on the oropharyngeal area remains a topic of debate. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct further investigations into the effects of maxillary protraction on the oropharyngeal area and explore the factors that influence different outcomes.

BackgroundCOVID-19 screening is an effective nonpharmaceutical intervention for identifying infected individuals and interrupting viral transmission. However, questions have been raised regarding its effectiveness in controlling the spread of novel variants and its high socioeconomic costs. Therefore, the optimization of COVID-19 screening strategies has attracted great attention. ObjectiveThis review aims to summarize the evidence and provide a reference basis for the optimization of screening strategies for the prevention and control of COVID-19. MethodsWe applied a methodological framework for scoping reviews and the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews) checklist. We conducted a scoping review of the present publications on the optimization of COVID-19 screening strategies. We searched the PubMed, Web of Science, and Elsevier ScienceDirect databases for publications up to December 31, 2022. English publications related to screening and testing strategies for COVID-19 were included. A data-charting form, jointly developed by 2 reviewers, was used for data extraction according to the optimization directions of the screening strategies. ResultsA total of 2770 unique publications were retrieved from the database search, and 95 abstracts were retained for full-text review. There were 62 studies included in the final review. We summarized the results in 4 major aspects: the screening population (people at various risk conditions such as different regions and occupations; 12/62, 19%), the timing of screening (when the target population is tested before travel or during an outbreak; 12/62, 19%), the frequency of screening (appropriate frequencies for outbreak prevention, outbreak response, or community transmission control; 6/62, 10%), and the screening and detection procedure (the choice of individual or pooled detection and optimization of the pooling approach; 35/62, 56%). ConclusionsThis review reveals gaps in the optimization of COVID-19 screening strategies and suggests that a number of factors such as prevalence, screening accuracy, effective allocation of resources, and feasibility of strategies should be carefully considered in the development of future screening strategies.

BackgroundThe burden of hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and syphilis coinfections remains disproportionately high among people living with HIV/AIDS. Hubei province is located in central China, where there are distinct regional characteristics of the distribution of people living with HIV/AIDS acquired via diverse transmission routes and the AIDS epidemic itself. ObjectiveWe aimed to estimate the magnitude of HBV, HCV, or syphilis coinfections among people living with HIV/AIDS with blood-borne transmission, which includes former paid blood donors, contaminated blood recipients, and intravenous drug users, as well as among people with sex-borne HIV transmission (including heterosexual people and men who have sex with men) and people with mother-to-child HIV transmission. MethodsFrom January 2010 to December 2020, people living with HIV/AIDS were tested for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), HCV antibodies, and syphilis-specific antibodies. The positive patients were further tested for HBV markers, HBV DNA, and HCV RNA, and received a rapid plasma reagin circle card test. All people living with HIV/AIDS were first divided into transmission groups (blood, sex, and mother-to-child); then, people with blood-borne HIV transmission were divided into former paid blood donors, contaminated blood recipients, and intravenous drug users, while people with sex-borne HIV transmission were divided into heterosexual people and men who have sex with men. ResultsAmong 6623 people living with HIV/AIDS, rates of chronic HCV infection were 80.3% (590/735) in former paid blood donors, 73.3% (247/337) in intravenous drug users, 57.1% (444/777) in contaminated blood recipients, 19.4% (21/108) in people with mother-to-child HIV transmission, 8.1% (240/2975) in heterosexual people, and 1.2% (21/1691) in men who have sex with men. Chronic HBV infection rates were similar among all people with blood-borne HIV transmission. However, compared to heterosexual people, the chronic HBV infection rate was greater in men who have sex with men (213/1691, 12.6% vs 308/2975, 10.4%; χ21=5.469; P=.02), although HBV exposure was less common (827/1691, 48.9% vs 1662/2975, 55.9%; χ21=20.982; P

ObjectiveTo investigate the level of screen time and gross motor movement level and the correlation between them in left-behind children aged 3 to 6 years old in China.MethodsA randomized whole-group sampling method was used to study 817 left-behind children aged 3-6 years in 15 kindergartens in Xiangcheng city, Henan province. The third version of the Test of Gross Motor Development (TGMD-3) was used to test the children's gross motor movement level, and the screen time questionnaire was used to test the children's screen time level. The relationship between the two and the indicators was explored using Pearson's two-sided correlation and multilevel regression.ResultsThe average daily screen time of left-behind children aged 3-6 years old increased with age, and the reporting rate of >2 h/d ranged from 22.43% to 33.73%; gross motor movement of left-behind children aged 3-6 years old increased with age, with significant differences between age (pConclusionThere is a correlation between screen time and gross motor movement development in children aged 3-6 years old left behind, and the gross motor movement ability of children aged 3-6 years old can be developed by reducing screen time and increasing physical activity.

The pollutant emission characteristics of in-use CNG taxis driving on a typical mountain city before and after three-way catalyst (TWC) replacement was examined using a modular on-board portable emissions measurement system (PEMS), the OBS-ONE developed by Horiba. The results showed that the exhaust NO of CNG taxis equipped with deactivation TWC exceeded the emission limits, even higher than gasoline vehicles. The high emission rate of CNG taxis is mainly concentrated on road slopes between a 2% and 6% gradient and a deceleration rate in the interval of [0.5, 4], respectively, which results in higher emissions from CNG taxis traveling in the mountain city of Chongqing than other cities and vehicles. Moreover, the pollutant emission rates of the in-use CNG taxis were highly correlated with the velocity and the vehicle specific power (VSP). After a new TWC replacement, the emission factors of carbon monoxide (CO), total hydrocarbons (THC), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particle number (PN) decreased by 85.21–89.11%, 68.71–85.49%, 60.91–81.11%, and 62.26–68.39%, respectively. Our results will provide guidance for urban environments to carry out the comprehensive management of in-use vehicles and emphasize the importance of TWC replacement for CNG taxis.

This study presents an in-depth analysis of the dynamic beach landscapes of Hainan Island, which is located at the southernmost tip of China. Home to over a hundred natural and predominantly sandy beaches, Hainan Island confronts significant challenges posed by frequent marine natural disasters and human activities. Addressing the urgent need for long-term studies of beach dynamics, this research involved the use of CoastSat to extract and analyze shoreline data from 20 representative beaches and calculate the slopes of 119 sandy beaches around the island for the period from 2013 to 2023. The objective was to delineate the patterns of beach evolution that contribute to the prevention of sediment loss, the mitigation of coastal hazards, and the promotion of sustainable coastal zone management. By employing multi-source remote sensing imagery and the CoastSat tool, this investigation validated slope measurements across selected beaches, demonstrating consistency between the calculated and actual distances despite minor anomalies. The effective use of the finite element solution (FES) in the 2014 global tidal model for tidal corrections further aligned the coastlines with the mean shoreline, underscoring CoastSat’s utility in enabling precise coastal studies. The analysis revealed significant seasonal variations in shoreline positions, with approximately half of the monitored sites showing a seaward progression in summer and a retreat in winter, which were linked to variations in wave height. The southern beaches exhibited distinct seasonal variations, which contrasted with the general trend due to differing wave impacts. The western and southern shores showed erosion, while the northern and eastern shores displayed accretion. The calculated slopes across the island indicated that the southern beaches had steeper slopes, while the northern areas exhibited more pronounced slope variations due to wave and tidal impacts. These findings highlight the critical role of integrated coastal management and erosion control strategies in safeguarding Hainan Island’s beaches. By understanding the mechanisms driving seasonal and regional shoreline changes, effective measures can be developed to mitigate the impacts of erosion and enhance the resilience of coastal ecosystems amidst changing environmental conditions. This research provides a foundational basis for future efforts aimed at the sustainable development and utilization of coastal resources on Hainan Island.

Abstract Physiological signal processing plays a key role in next-generation human-machine interfaces as physiological signals provide rich cognition- and health-related information. However, the explosion of physiological signal data presents challenges for traditional systems. Here, we propose a highly efficient neuromorphic physiological signal processing system based on VO2 memristors. The volatile and positive/negative symmetric threshold switching characteristics of VO2 memristors are leveraged to construct a sparse-spiking yet high-fidelity asynchronous spike encoder for physiological signals. Besides, the dynamical behavior of VO2 memristors is utilized in compact Leaky Integrate and Fire (LIF) and Adaptive-LIF (ALIF) neurons, which are incorporated into a decision-making Long short-term memory Spiking Neural Network. The system demonstrates superior computing capabilities, needing only small-sized LSNNs to attain high accuracies of 95.83% and 99.79% in arrhythmia classification and epileptic seizure detection, respectively. This work highlights the potential of memristors in constructing efficient neuromorphic physiological signal processing systems and promoting next-generation human-machine interfaces.

Abstract Conventional residential electricity consumers are becoming prosumers who not only consume electricity but also produce it. This shift is expected to occur over the next few decades at a large scale, and it presents numerous uncertainties and risks for the operation, planning, investment, and viable business models of the electricity grid. To prepare for this shift, researchers, utilities, policymakers, and emerging businesses require a comprehensive understanding of future prosumers’ electricity consumption. Unfortunately, there is a limited amount of data available due to privacy concerns and the slow adoption of new technologies such as battery electric vehicles and home automation. To address this issue, this paper introduces a synthetic dataset containing five types of residential prosumers’ imported and exported electricity data. The dataset was developed using real traditional consumers’ data from Denmark, PV generation data from the global solar energy estimator (GSEE) model, electric vehicle (EV) charging data generated using emobpy package, a residential energy storage system (ESS) operator and a generative adversarial network (GAN) based model to produce synthetic data. The quality of the dataset was assessed and validated through qualitative inspection and three methods: empirical statistics, metrics based on information theory, and evaluation metrics based on machine learning techniques.

Epilepsy is a prevalent neurological disorder, rendering the development of automated seizure detection systems imperative. While complex machine learning models are powerful, their training and hardware deployment remain challenging. The reservoir computing system offers a low-cost solution in terms of both hardware requirements and training. In this paper, we introduce a compact reservoir computing system for seizure detection, based on the α-In2Se3 dynamic memristors. Leaky integrate-and-fire neurons are used for post-processing the output of the system, and experimental results indicate their effectiveness in suppressing erroneous outputs, where both accuracy and specificity are enhanced by over 2.5%. The optimized compact reservoir system achieves 96.40% accuracy, 86.34% sensitivity, and 96.56% specificity in seizure detection tasks. This work demonstrates the feasibility of using reservoir computing for seizure detection and shows its potential for future application in extreme edge devices.

Reclaiming estuarine tidal flats is practiced to meet the growing demand for land. The reclaimed new land (RNL) on the Eastern Hengsha Shoal in the Changjiang Estuary is for agricultural production in Shanghai. Whether freshwater resources exist around the RNL has become a critical issue \caused by estuarine saltwater intrusion. In this study, the spatiotemporal saltwater intrusion and freshwater distribution around the RNL at different guarantee rates of river discharge using the improved 3D numerical model ECOM-si was investigated. Three water intakes on Hengsha Island and the northern edge of the RNL were set. The results showed that at different guarantee rates of river discharge during the dry season, there is a relatively sufficient suitable water intake time in the upper RNL. Nevertheless, there is a very limited suitable water intake time in the middle and lower RNL as the guarantee rate increases, especially in January and February. During the flood season, three water intakes can ensure sufficient suitable water intake time. The salinity around the RNL significantly increases under the combined effect of 50% and 95% guarantee rates with a 12 m/s northerly wind in February, resulting in a significant threat to the three water intakes. At the 50% guarantee rate, the suitable water intake times in February are 14.86, 9.78 and 3.53 days at three water intakes, respectively. At the 95% guarantee rate, the suitable water intake time in February is only 0.31 days in the upper RNL, and there is no freshwater in the middle and lower RNL. Overall, there is sufficient freshwater in the flood season and limited freshwater in the dry season for agriculture along the northern edge of the RNL.

Purpose According to international guidelines, selective lymph node dissection can be performed on patients with early-stage endometrial cancer. However, some patients at early stage have already occurred lymph node metastasis at the time of diagnosis. This study was aimed to find a method to predict the risk of lymph node metastasis in this part of patient. Methods We collected data from 571 patients as training cohort and 351 patients as validation cohort for this study. Then we performed univariate and multivariate analyses to confirm the correlation of frequently used factors and lymph node metastasis. Combined analysis of four commonly indicators (ERα, PR, P53 and Ki67) from pathological parameter sources was mainly carried out, and the combined ratio is defined as (ERα + PR)/(Ki67 + P53). Then the accuracy of the combined ratio and other factors in prediction were compared by AUC value. Also, the optimal truncation value was searched. Finally, patients followed up for more than two years were divided into groups by the threshold value, and their difference in survival was explored. Abstract Subsect. Hirculoideae Engl. & Irmsch., belonging to Saxifraga sect. Ciliatae Haw., has high species richness. It can be divided into S. diversifolia, S. pseudohirculus, and S. sinomontana complexes based on morphological characteristics. The species with prominent leaf veins on the posterior leaf edge were placed in the S. diversifolia complex, which is mainly distributed on the eastern and southern margins of the Qinghai‐Tibetan Plateau. In this study, 53 samples, representing 15 of the 33 described species in the S. diversifolia complex, were sequenced using the Restriction‐site Associated DNA Sequence (RAD‐seq) technique. A total of 111,938 high‐quality SNP loci were screened to investigate the phylogenetic relationships within the S. diversifolia complex. The result of the neighbor‐joining (NJ) tree shows that the S. diversifolia complex is a paraphyletic group. Despite of some inconsistencies as revealed by genetic structural analysis, clustering results of representative species reconstructed by both NJ and principal component analysis analyses support previous biogeographic and morphological evidences. In addition, long‐distance gene flow events for 11 taxa were detected in the S. diversifolia complex, respectively from S. implicans 1 to S. implicans 2, S. diversifolia and S. maxionggouensis, and from S. maxionggouensis to S. nigroglandulifera. These findings may improve our comprehension of the phylogeny, classification, and evolution of the S. diversifolia complex.

BackgroundHBV coinfection is frequent in people living with HIV (PLWH) and is the leading cause of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). While risk prediction methods for HCC in patients with HBV monoinfection have been proposed, suitable biomarkers for early diagnosis of HCC in PLWH remain uncommon.MethodsLiquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was used to examine serum protein alterations in HCC and non-HCC patients with HIV and HBV co-infection. Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), and Disease Ontology (DO) enrichment analysis were performed on the differentially expressed proteins (DEPs). The risk prediction model was created using five-cross-validation and LASSO regression to filter core DEPs.ResultsA total of 124 DEPs were discovered, with 95 proteins up-regulated and 29 proteins down-regulated. Extracellular matrix organization and membrane component were the DEPs that were most abundant in the categories of biological processes (BP) and cellular components (CC). Proteoglycans in cancer were one of the top three DEPs primarily enriched in the KEGG pathway, and 60.0% of DEPs were linked to various neoplasms in terms of DO enrichment. Eleven proteins, including GAPR1, PLTP, CLASP2, IGHV1-69D, IGLV5-45, A2M, VNN1, KLK11, ANPEP, DPP4 and HYI, were chosen as the core DEPs, and a nomogram was created to predict HCC risk.ConclusionIn HIV/HBV patients with HCC, several differential proteins can be detected in plasma by mass spectrometry, which can be used as screening markers for early diagnosis and risk prediction of HCC. Monitoring protease expression differences can help in the diagnosis and prognosis of HCC.

The salience network has been hypothesised to modulate default mode network activity during stimulus-driven cognition. Here, the authors show that in rats, stimulation of the anterior insular cortex, a key node of the salience network, suppresses the default mode network and decouples these networks, providing in vivo evidence of a causal role of the anterior insular cortex in brain network switching.

Utilizing the heterosis of indica/japonica hybrid rice (IJHR) is an effective way to further increase rice grain yield. Rational application of nitrogen (N) fertilizer plays a very important role in using the heterosis of IJHR to achieve its great yield potential. However, the responses of the grain yield and N utilization of IJHR to N application rates and the underlying physiological mechanism remain elusive. The purpose of this study was to clarify these issues. Three rice cultivars currently used in rice production, an IJHR cultivar Yongyou 2640 (YY2640), a japonica cultivar Lianjing 7 (LJ-7) and an indica cultivar Yangdao 6 (YD-6), were grown in the field with six N rates (0, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 kg ha−1) in 2018 and 2019. The results showed that with the increase in N application rates, the grain yield of each test cultivar increased at first and then decreased, and the highest grain yield was at the N rate of 400 kg ha−1 for YY2640, with a grain yield of 13.4 t ha−1, and at 300 kg ha−1 for LJ-7 and YD-6, with grain yields of 9.4–10.6 t ha−1. The grain yield and N use efficiency (NUE) of YY2640 were higher than those of LJ-7 or YD-6 at the same N rate, especially at the higher N rates. When compared with LJ-7 or YD-6, YY2640 exhibited better physiological traits, including greater root oxidation activity and leaf photosynthetic rate, higher cytokinin content in the roots and leaves, and more remobilization of assimilates from the stem to the grain during grain filling. The results suggest that IJHR could attain both higher grain yield and higher NUE than inbred rice at either low or high N application rates. Improved shoot and root traits of the IJHR contribute to its higher grain yield and NUE, and a higher content of cytokinins in the IJHR plants plays a vital role in their responses to N application rates and also benefits other physiological processes.

This paper addresses the intricate challenges of coastal management, particularly in rapidly forming tidal flats, emphasizing the need for innovative monitoring strategies. The dynamic coastal topography, exemplified by a newly formed tidal flat in Shanghai, underscores the urgency of advancements in coastal risk recognition. By utilizing a digital twin framework integrated with state-of-the-art unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), we systematically evaluate three configurations and identify the optimal setup incorporating real-time kinematics (RTK) and light detection and ranging (LiDAR). This UAV configuration excels in efficiently mapping the 3D coastal terrain. It has an error of less than 0.1 m when mapping mudflats at an altitude of 100 m. The integration of UAV data with a precise numerical ocean model forms the foundation of our dynamic risk assessment framework. The results showcase the transformative potential of the digital twin framework, providing unparalleled accuracy and efficiency in coastal risk recognition. Visualization through Unity Engine or Unreal Engine enhances accessibility, fostering community engagement and awareness. By predicting and simulating potential risks in real-time, this study offers a forward-thinking strategy for mitigating coastal dangers. This research not only contributes a comprehensive strategy for coastal risk management but also sets a precedent for the integration of cutting-edge technologies in safeguarding coastal ecosystems. The findings are significant in paving the way for a more resilient and sustainable approach to coastal management, addressing the evolving environmental pressures on our coastlines.

Estuarine reservoirs are critical for freshwater supply and security, especially for regions facing water scarcity challenges due to climate change and population growth. Conventional methods for assessing drought severity or monitoring reservoir water level and storage are often limited by data availability, accessibility and quality. We present an approach for monitoring estuarine reservoir water levels, storage and extreme drought via satellite remote sensing and waterline detection. Based on the CoastSat algorithm, Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2 images from 2013 to 2022 were adopted to extract the waterline of Qingcaosha Reservoir, the largest estuarine reservoir in the world and a key source of freshwater for Shanghai, China. This study confirmed the accuracy of the satellite-extracted results through two main methods: (1) calculating the angle of the central shoal slope in the reservoir using the extracted waterline data and measured water levels and (2) inverting the time series of water levels for comparison with measured data. The correlation coefficient of the estimated water level reached ~0.86, and the root mean square error (RMSE) of the estimated shoal slope was ~0.2°, indicating that the approach had high accuracy and reliability. We analyzed the temporal and spatial patterns of waterline changes and identified two dates (21 February 2014 and 15 October 2022) when the reservoir reached the lowest water levels, coinciding with periods of severe saltwater intrusions in the estuary. The extreme drought occurrences in the Qingcaosha Reservoir were firstly documented through the utilization of remote sensing data. The results also indicate a strong resilience of the Qingcaosha Reservoir and demonstrate that the feasibility and utility of using satellite remote sensing and waterline detection for estuarine reservoir storage can provide timely and accurate information for water resource assessment, management and planning.

Recently, multicomponent reactions (MCRs) have attracted much attention in polymer synthesis. As one of the most well-known MCRs, the Kabachnik–Fields (KF) reaction has been widely used in the development of new functional polymers. The KF reaction can efficiently introduce functional groups into polymer structures; thus, polymers prepared via the KF reaction have unique α-aminophosphonates and show important bioactivity, metal chelating abilities, and flame-retardant properties. In this mini-review, we mainly summarize the latest advances in the KF reaction to synthesize functional polymers for the preparation of heavy metal adsorbents, multifunctional hydrogels, flame retardants, and bioimaging probes. We also discuss some emerging applications of functional polymers prepared by means of the KF reaction. Finally, we put forward our perspectives on the further development of the KF reaction in polymer chemistry.

Background Endometrial cancer stem-like cells (ECSCs) have been proven to be responsible for recurrence, metastasis, and drug-resistance in patients with endometrial cancer. The HIPPO pathway has been shown to play an important role in the development and maintenance of stemness in a variety of tumors. While there was less research about its function in ECSCs. The aim of this study was to explore the role of YAP1, a core molecular of HIPPO pathway, in the stemness of endometrial cancer and to reveal its influence on prognosis. Methods We collected specimens and clinical data from 774 patients with endometrial cancer to analyze the correlation between YAP1 expression and prognosis. We then examined the expression of YAP1 in ECSCs and EC cell lines (Ishikawa; HEC1-A) in vitro experiments. Changes in the stemness of cell lines were detected after YAP1 silencing by siRNA. Finally, high-throughput sequencing was used to predict the potential molecular interactions and mechanisms of YAP1’s effect on stemness. Result Down-regulation of YAP1 significantly suppresses the stemness of EC cell lines. High expression of YAP1 leads to poor prognosis in EC by regulation of stemness. Conclusion YAP1 plays an important role in the prognosis of patients with EC by regulation of stemness.

BackgroundThe health care system in China is fragmented, and the distribution of high-quality resources remains uneven and irrational. Information sharing is essential to the development of an integrated health care system and maximizing its benefits. Nevertheless, data sharing raises concerns regarding the privacy and confidentiality of personal health information, which affect the willingness of patients to share information. ObjectiveThis study aims to investigate patients’ willingness to share personal health data at different levels of maternal and child specialized hospitals in China, to propose and test a conceptual model to identify key influencing factors, and to provide countermeasures and suggestions to improve the level of data sharing. MethodsA research framework based on the Theory of Privacy Calculus and the Theory of Planned Behavior was developed and empirically tested through a cross-sectional field survey from September 2022 to October 2022 in the Yangtze River Delta region, China. A 33-item measurement instrument was developed. Descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and logistic regression analyses were conducted to characterize the willingness of sharing personal health data and differences by sociodemographic factors. Structural equation modeling was used to assess the reliability and validity of the measurement as well as to test the research hypotheses. The STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology) checklist for cross-sectional studies was applied for reporting results. ResultsThe empirical framework had a good fit with the chi-square/degree of freedom (χ2/df)=2.637, root-mean-square residual=0.032, root-mean-square error of approximation=0.048, goodness-of-fit index=0.950, and normed fit index=0.955. The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has the characteristics of high efficiency, small size and cost, which can monitor the evolution trend of tidal flat, and can also observe the short-duration developments of tidal flat that are difficult to be captured by satellite. Based on the technology of UAV, orthophotos of regional image were generated and the beach and vegetation areas of tidal flats were obtained in Lingang (Shanghai), and then the temporal and spatial characteristics of short-period sand area and vegetation on tidal flats and their responses to different events were analyzed. The results indicated: the supratidal zone of Lingang tidal flat had changed from muddy beach to sandy beach gradually in recent years; The vegetation on the tidal flat had seasonal changes, withering in autumn and winter, and flourishing in spring and summer, the variability of the western part on the tidal flat was most obvious. The sandy beach was exposed as the vegetation withers and was easily eroded by the interaction of wave and tide; compared with the seasonal transformation, the response of the beach to the event was more significant, and the tidal flat changed sharply due to flood-induced deposition and typhoon-induced erosion.

Although tempering is an effective method to improve the mechanical properties of steel, its influence on corrosion behavior has been controversial. Therefore, we conducted this study to assess the effects of different tempering temperatures on the corrosion resistance of low alloy steel in wet atmosphere using an immersion test, salt spray test, electrochemical measurement, and morphology characterization and phase analysis. The results showed that defects and the highly reactive nature of high angle grain boundaries (HAGBs) of bare steels are preferentially corroded. In the initial stage of corrosion, the tempering temperature affects the distribution of low angle grain boundaries (LAGBs). The specimens tempered at low tempering temperatures corroded lightly because of low interface energy. In the later stage of corrosion, the corrosion resistance of the specimens still depends on the matrix due to the limited protection of the rust layer. Thus, the charge transfer resistance improves and the corrosion resistance becomes better with the decrease of tempering temperature.

Background: During our surveillance period, we found a new type of Vibrio parahaemolyticus (V. parahaemolyticus) with serotype O10:K4, which had increased over the past 2 years in Huzhou and became the second most common serotype after O3:K6. Methods: Strains were isolated from stool samples of diarrhea patients in the First People's Hospital in Huzhou. The serotypes, virulence-associated genes, antimicrobial susceptibility, and pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) of these strains were analyzed. Results: Between January 2017 and December 2021, there were 598 (5.36%) V. parahaemolyticus-positive samples of 11,166 stool specimens. The V. parahaemolyticus detection rate was high in summer months. The O3:K6 was the dominant serotype in 2017–2020 and a new serotype, O10:K4, was the predominant serotype in 2021. The majority of isolates tested were resistant to ampicillin (86.8%). We randomly chose the strains with serotype O3:K6 and O10:K4 for PFGE to compare the genetic relationship between these two serotypes. The results showed that the PFGE profiles of V. parahaemolyticus O3:K6 and O10:K4 were genetically similar. The strains showed a tendency to cluster on the basis of their serotype profiles. However, some O3:K6 strains showed 100% similarity with O10:K4 strains. Conclusion: A new serotype with pandemic potential of V. parahaemolyticus, O10:K4, was detected in 2020 and became dominant in 2021 in Huzhou.

BackgroundThe psychobiological state known as mental fatigue (MF) is by engaging in mentally taxing activities for an extended period, which is typically found in team sports, of the high cognitive demand and unpredictable environment. It increases the perception of effort and influences executive functions, impairing sport-specific performance in athletes. However, the consequences of MF on sport-specific motor performance (SSMP) among athletes in team sports remain unclear.ObjectiveThis scoping review seeks to find and map research publications that investigate the effect of MF on SSMP in team sports.MethodsWeb of Science, Scopus, and PubMed were searched as the main databases, and CENTRAL, Psychology, and Behavioral Sciences Collection, SPORTDicus obtained from EBSCOhost, as well as gray literature was searched for relevant literature and Google Scholar. Cognitive tasks before the SSMP exam are the focus of the selected literature on mental exhaustion. Only experiments testing mental and non-mental exhaustion were chosen.ResultsTwelve studies fulfill the requirement of selection criteria. SSMP in team sports, including soccer, basketball, cricket, and Australian football mainly is examined as physical and technical performance. More specifically, MF significantly influenced physical performance measured as intermittent endurance and total distance (P < 0.05), while data was inclusive when assess in an ecological setting (e.g., small-sided game) (P > 0.05). Technical performance was mainly measured as ball loss, errors in passing and shooting, interception, and successful tackle and showed a dramatic impairment (P < 0.05). The decline of physical activity is relevant with higher level PRE, while decreased technical performance is related to impaired attention resources shown as visual perceptual.ConclusionMF adversely influences SSMP in team sports. The most relevant theory for future study to examine the impacts of MF on team-sport athletes could be the psychological model of exercise and its potential extension on attention resources, rather than the traditional “catastrophe” theory.

Pyrolysis has been regarded as a green eco-friendly technology to deal with waste tires, and it is vital to make use of the pyrolysis carbon. Herein, we propose a new way to utilize pyrolysis carbon, to prepare carbon nanotubes with the help of ferrocene. The optimal preparation processes were determined by optimizing the parameters including the solvent, temperature, time, etc. The results of scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy evidenced the successful formation of carbon nanotubes. Meanwhile, the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) method and N2-adsorption showed that the yielded carbon nanotubes featured a large surface area and abundant pore structure in comparison with the pyrolytic carbon. Finally, the as-prepared carbon nanotubes were applied as the supports for Pt-based catalysts for the dehydrogenation of methylcyclohexane to produce hydrogen. The results showed that the Pt/carbon-nanotubes catalyst exhibited the highest conversion of methylcyclohexane (28.6%), stability, and hydrogen evolution rate (336.9 mmol/gPt/min) compared to the resulting Pt/commercial-activated-carbon (13.6% and 160.2 mmol/gPt/min) and Pt/pyrolytic-carbon catalysts (0.19% and 2.23 mmol/gPt/min).

The mechanisms of rape straw biochar that affect the fixation of cadmium (Cd) in paddy soil by influencing redox of iron and sulfur are unclear. Several anaerobic incubation experiments were carried out using Cd-contaminated paddy soils (LY and ZZ). Rape straw biochar at pyrolysis temperatures of 450 °C (LRSB) and 800 °C (HRSB) was selected as the soil remediation agent. The electron exchange capacity and electrical conductivity were higher in HRSB than those in LRSB. The lower pe + pH in HRSB enhanced Fe oxide reduction, with a maximum increase in Fe2+ of 46.0% in ZZ. Compared to treatment without biochar (CK), the poorly crystallized Fe oxide (Feo) in HRSB increased by 16.8% in ZZ. This induced Cd bound to Fe, and Mn oxides fraction (Fe-Mn Cd) increased by 42.5%. The SO42−-S content in LRSB was 4.6 times that of HRSB. LRSB addition increased acid-volatile sulfide by 46.4% and 48.9% in LY and ZZ soils, respectively, compared to CK. This resulted in an increase in sulfide’s contribution to Cd fixation, with values rising from 24.2% to 37.8% in LY and 19.1% to 29.8% in ZZ. Overall, LRSB reduced Cd mobility by forming more sulfide, while HRSB increased Fe-Mn Cd by increasing Feo.

Abstract Neuromorphic computing is expected to bridge cognitive behaviors with computing systems in an efficient, expandable, and biologically inspired way. A pivotal cognitive behavior is the attention mechanism, which is highly important in filtering and regulating spatio‐temporal information. Emerging neuromorphic devices hold prospect in utilizing their internal physical mechanisms for dynamic computing resources. Here, a basic top–down attention computing component consisting of a synaptic transistor and a neuron is proposed, where efficient information processing is realized by combining the inherent device dynamics and the feedback loop. A theoretical model is established in simulation to demonstrate the capabilities of such a computing system in information filtering and control. Notably, new dynamic circuit behaviors, such as conductance oscillation and activate function switching, are discovered from appropriate time parameters. The attention computing component contains rich dynamic behaviors, providing a power and area‐saving method to construct high‐complexity neuromorphic systems for spatio‐temporal signal preprocessing and control.

BackgroundTo analyze the changing characteristics of continuous monitoring of refined lymphocyte subsets in people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) during ART period.MethodsRefined lymphocyte subsets was continuously monitored using flow cytometry for 173 PLWHA, who were hospitalized in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University from August 17, 2021 to September 14, 2022. The effect of ART status and duration of ART on changes of refined lymphocyte subsets were compared in different groups. Then, the levels of refined lymphocyte subsets in PLWHA treated for more than 10 years were compared to those of 1086 healthy individuals.ResultsIn addition to conventional CD4+ T lymphocytes and CD4+/CD8+ ratio, gradually increasing in numbers of CD3+CD4+CD45RO cells, CD3+CD4+CD45RA cells, CD45RA+CD3+CD4+CD25+CD127low and CD45RO+CD3+CD4+CD25+CD127low cells were found with the increase of ART duration. The number of CD4+CD28+ cells and CD8+CD28+ cells were 174/ul and 233/ul at 6 months post-ART, which gradually increased to 616/ul and 461/ul after ART initiation more than 10 years. Moreover, in ART ≤ 6 months, 6 months-3years, 3-10 years and >10 years groups, the percentage of CD3+CD8+HLA-DR+/CD8 were 79.66%, 69.73%, 60.19% and 57.90%, respectively, and the differences between groups showed statistical significance (F=5.727, P=0.001). For those PLWHA with ART more than 10 years, the levels of CD4+ T lymphocytes, CD3+CD4+CD45RO cells, CD3+CD4+CD45RA cells, CD4+CD28+ cells and CD8+CD28+ cells can increase to levels similar to those of healthy control. However, for those PLWHA with ART more than 10 years, CD4+/CD8+ ratio was 0.86 ± 0.47, which was lower than that of healthy control (0.86 ± 0.47 vs 1.32 ± 0.59, t=3.611, P=0.003); absolute counts and percentage of CD3+CD8+HLA-DR+ cells were 547/ul and 57.90%, which were higher than those of healthy control(547/ul vs 135/ul, t=3.612, P=0.003; 57.90% vs 22.38%, t=6.959, P

In this paper, a Stieltjes integral approximation method for uncertain variational inequality problem (UVIP) is studied. Firstly, uncertain variables are introduced on the basis of variational inequality. Since the uncertain variables are based on nonadditive measures, there is usually no density function. Secondly, the expected value model of UVIP is established after the expected value is discretized by the Stieltjes integral. Furthermore, a gap function is constructed to transform UVIP into an uncertain constraint optimization problem, and the optimal value of the constraint problem is proved to be the solution of UVIP. Finally, the convergence of solutions of the Stieltjes integral discretization approximation problem is proved.

Sedimentation is an important mechanism to mitigate the shrinking of tidal flat and to restore its ecological function by means of sand or mud nourishment. To explore the sedimentation of cohesive sediments, a seabed tripod observation system was deployed at the subtidal region of the Hengsha Shoal adjacent to the turbidity maximum zone of the Yangtze Estuary for 11 days. The results showed that the fine sediment with the median grain size around 8 mm occupied the whole water column. The seabed was in relative equilibrium state with the fluctuation of bed level smaller than 16 mm during the moderate wind condition while the seabed experienced a rapid erosion of 38mm and a successive intensive accretion of 68mm during the process of wind wave and swell. The bottom hydrodynamic at 0.3mab during the bed accretion was stronger than that during the bed erosion. The deposition process of cohesive sediments can be better described by the simultaneous deposition paradigm than that by the exclusive deposition paradigm according to the direct data-model comparison of the bed level changes, especially during the impact of fluid mud. Three possible reasons for the better performance of the simultaneous deposition paradigm were proposed. The first possibility is that the fine suspended sediments do maintain a continuous contact with the sediment bed since the direct bed level changes during our observation period has been well reproduced by the simultaneous deposition paradigm. The second possibility is the SSC-induced turbulence damping which facilitates the fine sediment settling in the form of cohesive sediment flocs, indicating the settling of sediments can’t be judged by the critical shear stress for deposition just based on the single particle grain size. The last possibility is the fluid mud-induced overestimated bed shear stress by using turbulent velocity fluctuation above the fluid mud-water interface, which produces excess sediment erosion waiting to be compensated by the simultaneous deposition paradigm. For practical modeling purposes, modeling under the simultaneous deposition paradigm can give satisfactory results for the sedimentation of cohesive sediment especially during the impact of wave or swell.

A fault diagnosis method of gearbox based on time frequency union （TFC） feature extraction and manifold learning of improved supervised local tangent space arrangement （MS-LTSA） is presented. Firstly，a feature extraction method combining time domain，frequency domain and HHT time-frequency domain is proposed to obtain the comprehensive feature vector information of vibration signals. Then，the singular values of high-dimensional feature vectors are extracted and the singular value matrix is denoised by manifold learning theory. Finally，an efficient and accurate fault identification of the gearbox is realized by the feature vector after noise reduction. The proposed MS-LTSA method realizes the combination of the internal structure information and the class discrimination information of the data set，and improves the clustering effect of the extracted low dimensional features. Through analysis of experimental data，the excellent performance and application value of the proposed method in gearbox diagnosis are verified.

This study explores the role of socially shared regulation on computational thinking performance in cooperative learning. Ninety-four middle school students from China aged between 16 and 18 participated in this study. Forty-six students were in the experimental group, and 48 students were in the control group. Students in the experimental group learned under the socially shared regulation of learning (SSRL) condition, which included planning and goal setting, task and content monitoring, and task and content evaluation. Students in the control group learned in a traditional way. The results showed that the students in the experimental group significantly outperformed their counterparts on the midtest and posttest. Additionally, the learning gain of the experimental group was much better from the pretest to the midtest. Different subgroups in the experimental group had different learning performances, and task monitoring and content monitoring were two important SSRL processes that led to improved computational thinking performance. Our results suggest that SSRL is beneficial for learning computational thinking subjects. Throughout the process of SSRL, different groups have different learning dynamics, and task and content monitoring plays a major role in computational thinking performance.

We investigate the effect of pure darkness and UV illumination on the corrosion process of 3Ni weathering steels involved in both marine atmospheric environments. The corrosion behavior of 3Ni steel in both environments was assessed by cyclic acceleration experiments, electrochemical measurements, morphological analysis and physical phase analysis. The results show that UV illumination affects the corrosion process through the photovoltaic effect of the corrosion products, with photoelectrons and photo-vacancies participating in the redox reaction between the substrate and the atmospheric environment, thereby affecting the corrosion rate of 3Ni steel, the physical composition of the corrosion products and the denseness of the rust layer.
