Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Regresi Linier Berganda untuk menjelaskan hubungan langsung dan tidak langsung serta faktor psikologis secara simultan dan parsial dari variabel Gaya Kepemimpinan, Motivasi, Kepuasan Kerja, dan Komitmen Organisasi pada Anggota Brimob Polri. Kantor Pusat Sulawesi Utara. Objek penelitian yang dipilih adalah Batalyon “A” Divisi Brimob dengan sampel sebanyak 136 responden. Teknik analisis data dengan bantuan software SPSS v.24.0 untuk Windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh langsung Gaya Kepemimpinan (X1) dan Kepuasan Kerja (Y) secara simultan berpengaruh signifikan dan positif terhadap Komitmen Organisasi (Z), sedangkan Motivasi (X2) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Komitmen Organisasi (Z).

ABSTRACT Environmental education programs have been evaluated to assess short‐term effects on participants; however, few studies have examined long‐term effects. We quantified how the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society's Wildlife Conservation Camp (WCC), Texas, USA, has affected high school students. A web‐based survey questionnaire measured attitudes and behaviors of participants toward wildlife conservation and natural resources. A subset of questions was taken from the 2011 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife‐Associated Recreation to provide a comparison population (USDI, USFWS, USDC, and USCB 2011). The majority of respondents reported moderate to large increases in knowledge (89%) and interest (80%) of wildlife conservation and observation from the WCC and major influence on the course of their lives (85%). Most respondents (86%) who went into a conservation‐related field reported the WCC influenced their career path. The majority of WCC respondents took special interest in wildlife around the home (66%) and away from home (70%) compared with Texans (likely wildlife watchers) surveyed in the 2011 National Survey (75% and 23%, respectively). The WCC can influence knowledge and interest of wildlife and recruitment into conservation‐related fields. Improvements to the program include increased outreach to diverse audiences and scholarship opportunities. Our results may guide the evaluation of other outdoor camps as we strive to better understand how educational programs can create a diverse generation of ecologically literate citizens and conservation leaders. © 2016 The Wildlife Society.

The increase in the number of coal-fired power plants with the increase in coal production and its consumption has caused the problem of the treatment of a large amount of coal ash in Indonesia. In the past studies, coal ash was applied to postmine land with the aim of improving soil conditions for plant growth; however, heavy rain in the tropical climate may cause soil erosion with the change in soil conditions. This study presents the effects of application of coal ash to postmine land on soil erosion by performing the artificial rainfall test as well as physical testing. The results indicate that the risk of soil erosion can be reduced significantly by applying the coal ash which consists of more than 85% of sand to topsoil in the postmine land at the mixing ratio of over 30%. Additionally, they reveal that not only fine fractions but also microporous structures in coal ash enhance water retention capacity by retaining water in the structure, leading to the prevention of soil erosion. Thus, the risk of soil erosion can be reduced by applying coal ash to topsoil in consideration of soil composition and microporous structure of coal ash.

Literature on online learning is replete with key factors needed for effective course delivery; however, the approaches and ideas that educators deem important do not always align with those of students. This study sought to compare actual online course design with student-indicated preferences. A survey instrument was administered to students enrolled in one or more online courses at a rural university in the southwestern United States. Students identified components of their online course(s) and rated components based on personal importance. Data were analyzed using the Borich Model, ranking items on differences between what the participants preferred and what they experienced. The results provide some important insights for educators designing and teaching online courses in higher education.

AbstractOn August 4, 2020, an explosion in the Beirut Port in Lebanon caused over 220 deaths and 76,000 injuries. The blast, which is considered a national tragedy, had profound impacts on Lebanese citizens, notably the traumatic loss for families who lost a loved one. This qualitative study explored the experiences of loss and adaptation among bereaved families following the Beirut Port explosion from a psychosocial perspective. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 13 bereaved family members three years after the explosion. Participants reported an initial state of shock following the loss. They experienced emotional distress, including persistent sadness and anger, especially toward the political class, as well as existential concerns. Moreover, social support, religious coping, and the quest for justice were noteworthy adaptation modalities. The findings showcase the experiences and adaptation strategies of bereaved families and highlight their ongoing psychological struggles. This study identified and prioritized the agricultural in-service needs of introductory level career and technical education teachers in Utah. The Utah State Board of Education requires that all seventh grade students complete an introductory career and technical education course as their first formal career exploration experience. One component of the course is exploration of the agriculture industry. In order to effectively help students explore agricultural opportunities, teachers, most of whom have little or no formal training in agriculture, must be prepared in their knowledge of the agriculture industry and careers. To meet the needs of teachers, the state office of education has requested relevant, meaningful in-service. A survey based on the Borich needs assessment model was used to determine areas in which teachers need additional support. The "new and emerging technologies in agriculture" standard emerged as an area of weakness. Teachers generally held positive attitudes toward the importance of teaching agriculture, which should be used to promote future in-service programs. (Contains 7 tables.)

The focus of this descriptive study was to determine the type and frequency of collaborative activities occurring between agriculture teachers and science teachers who taught in schools with agricultural education programs. Additional foci of this study included determining the extent to which science and agriculture teachers value collaborative practices, identifying factors that facilitate collaboration, and identifying barriers inhibiting collaboration. Although results indicate that most science and agriculture teachers hold positive attitudes concerning the potential for collaboration, reported collaborative activities between the groups was limited, with science teachers indicating less collaboration occurring than agriculture teachers. The large majority of science teachers indicated that they have not attended workshops demonstrating agriscience integration, and both groups identified lack of preparation time as the most significant barrier inhibiting collaboration. Moreover, both groups indicated that close proximity of facilities, teacher commitment, teacher attitude toward science and agriculture, frequent professional interaction, and administrator support facilitate collaboration. Many companies struggle with strategy implementation due to the complex nature of execution. Some strategy execution systems depend on numerous indicators, making it challenging for managers to oversee effectively. Additionally, during times of financial difficulty, companies require a straightforward turnaround strategy execution system featuring clearly defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This system should empower employees at all levels, fostering a shared sense of alignment and unity as the organization pursues common goals. The researchers aim to provide a simplified system for implementing turnaround strategies that ensures the company's profitability. To achieve this, they recommend utilizing daily Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) as the primary KPI, as it is entirely under operational control. Moreover, EBITDA can be integrated into business processes and remains solely within the purview of operations leaders and employees, thereby cultivating a sense of ownership and accountability. Once the company reaches a certain level of profitability, it can then incorporate additional KPIs. The researchers developed hypotheses based on deductive reasoning following a comprehensive literature review. They analyzed qualitative data from interviews and quantitative data from surveys. After implementing their program in a ferry company, they observed an approximate 33 % increase in revenue, a staggering 300 % surge in EBITDA, and an expansion of the EBITDA margin by over 250 %. The researchers validated their hypotheses through multiple case studies across ferry, shipbuilding, and aircraft manufacturing companies. This research contributes to the development of a straightforward turnaround strategy execution system by translating strategic programs and EBITDA targets into actionable plans for business processes daily. This approach assists leaders and employees in enhancing company culture and systems to achieve improved performance and profitability. The researchers focus on executing turnaround strategies effectively within company operations.

Our goal is to improve Project Management (PM) profitability and reduce discrepancies in information among stakeholders, which can result in conflicts. This will be accomplished by incorporating Earned Value Management (EVM) with the Income Statement and incorporating earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) with the work breakdown structure (WBS). These incorporations will streamline information sharing between PM, other management professionals, and the stakeholders, ultimately fostering the application of PM within broader business and management contexts. We drew on theories from Project, Operations, Financial Management, Agency Theory, and the Theory of Performance Frontiers. We conducted multiple case studies in a shipbuilding corporation with 25 projects and an aircraft manufacturing corporation with 20 projects. Our analysis involved both qualitative and quantitative methods, ensuring the accuracy and practicality of our hypotheses and instilling confidence in our research findings. This integration addresses the information gap on profitability for non-project management professionals, empowering stakeholders to enhance project performance. This integration benefits the company by allowing the project manager and stakeholders to gain real-time insights into the project's profitability, which enables continuous optimization of daily EBITDA by improving efficiency and productivity to achieve the project's profitability target. This study and its innovative findings originate from the author's unique approach, which is a significant contribution to the field of Project Management. This research focused on project management using EVM in for-profit organizations. Integrating EVM in the income statement also facilitates PM application in other management systems.

The generation of large volumes of agricultural and agroindustrial waste in the state of Tabasco represents a significant waste management challenge. We aimed to determine the bioenergy potential of five types of biomasses: Banana rachis, coconut shell, cocoa pod husk, sugarcane bagasse, and palm kernel shell, generated in agricultural and agroindustrial processes. This research involved characterizing and evaluating the energy quality of these biomasses by determining their calorific values and assessing their viability as fuel alternative sources. Additionally, we explored these biomasses' calorific value potential to reduce the inadequate disposal of wastes, reduce environmental impact, and provide alternative uses for these materials, which are typically discarded or have limited added value in the southeast region. The yield of waste generation per amount of production was estimated, with cocoa pod husk biomass and sugarcane bagasse, banana rachis, coconut shell, and palm kernel shell generating 0.685, 0.283, 0.16, 0.135, and 0.0595 kg of biomass per kg of crop, respectively. The bioenergy potential was evaluated through direct measurements using a calorimeter bomb, and indirect measurements using stoichiometric calculations. Four stoichiometric methods based on predictive equations were employed to determine the energy content of the biomasses from their elemental composition (Dulong, Friedl, Channiwala, Boie). The biomasses with the highest calorific values were coconut shell and cocoa pod husk, with values of 16.47 ± 0.24 and 16.02 ± 1.54 MJ/kg, respectively. Moreover, banana rachis had the lowest calorific value at 13.68 ± 3.22 MJ/kg. The calorific values of the sugarcane bagasse and palm kernel shell were 13.91 ± 0.98 and 15.29 ± 1.02, respectively. The factorial experimental design and statistical analysis revealed trends and magnitudes in the evaluation of energy determination methods and types of waste. The predictive equation of Dulong showed the highest similarity to the experimental values, especially for coconut shell (16.02 ± 0.08 MJ/kg). The metal content in biomasses such as palm kernel shell and coconut shell were below the limits established in ISO 17225:2014. Finally, our results indicated that coconut shell has superior characteristics for potential use as an alternative fuel, whereas banana rachis requires exploring alternative utilization options.
