Background: The management of the Institute of Pathological Anatomy in Kosovo is the only institution providing tertiary diagnostic services for the population of Kosovo. In the diagnosis and treatment of patients in the IPA, the priority is to manage the quality and accuracy of the diagnostic results. The IPA mission is to improve workflow management, reduce diagnostic errors, increase speed and diagnose quality. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of quality of care diagnostic services in IPA and to assess to the management of IPA to change the factors that have affected the management of the institution so far. These factors relate to centralization, lack of autonomy, lack of financial resources for facility maintenance, lack of modern diagnostic equipment, lack of clinical specialties, lack of medical reagents, lack of clinical protocols. Bureaucratic hacks designed by health policy makers in Kosovo have influenced the progress of the IPA, so slowly to date. Method: With a random sampling, 250 patients with different health problems (tumors) were recruited into the IPA for the period January 2018. The average age of participating subjects (n=250) by random sampling was 56.6 ± 11.6 years, where age group the youngest of patients ranging from 20 to 35 years old, which accounts for 6, 40% of the total number of patients diagnosed, the age group 36-50 is 32.80%, the age group of 51-65 years old 42% and the age group> 65 years old represents 18.80% of the total number of patients diagnosed in IPA. Results: The abstract concludes with a list of evidences facing the public IPA in Kosovo. IPA’s management role is a new approach, important to Kosovo and the health of its population. Increasing and timely provision of patient diagnosis is the achievement of institution management and the advancement of diagnostic quality of examinations in this institution. The evidence, that collaboration between IPA's internal and external clinicians and the use of advanced technology will significantly increase the patient's diagnostic activity. Finding outcomes will have a theoretical and practical impact on improving IPA work by recommending a research with some key findings for IPA management.

Background; Nowadays penetrating trauma is increasing because of the growth of violence in our society. The penetrating injury (PI) constitute about 6% of the hospitalized cases and 10% of visits to the emergency department (ED), they are calculated to the second as the leading cause of death after motor vehicle accident (MVA) and occupied 20% of deaths related to injuries in the USA.[1] Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the management results of patients with penetrating abdominal injuries. Patients and methods; We have used a standardized data collection instrument, case records of all patients with penetrating trauma (PT) diagnosed between January 2015 and August 2017. All patients who had performed or not emergency laparotomy (EL) after sustaining Blast injuries (BI), Gunshot wounds (GSW), stab wounds (SW), Sharp tools wounds (STW) were included in our study. Results; We have recorded 102 patients (Pt)[93(91%) male & 9(9%) female] with PAT in this study. Of 102 Pt, 47 (46%) were coming from Tirana, and 55 (54%) from another hospital. The mean age was 34.6 (10-80) years. The distribution of data based on mechanism of injury was; 2 (2%) of Pt was after BI, 34(33%) of Pt was after GSW, 55 (54%) of Pt was after SW, 11(11%) of Pt was after STW, were included in our study. Conclusions; Management of PAT remains a serious issue in ED. The outcome of treatment is dependent on the mechanism of injury, age, presence of shock in admission, number of injuries organ, associations with extra-abdominal injuries…

The current novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which began in December 2019, represents a significant challenge for Albania, as well as for the entire world. This study considers that Albania has prepared several action plans over the years related to pandemic influenza preparedness, health security, and health emergencies. The result shows that sharing information about the preparedness of Albania’s plan has a significant positive impact on the response adequately and in a timely manner, offering protection to the population. This paper first investigates the novel nature of the virus during a pandemic situation in Albania and proposes public protection plans to respond to the coronavirus. In brief, the current main objectives in Albania are to create a protected environment, update information and create response measures for the Albanian population. The results show that the measures taken are helping the health indicators to stay constant and decrease the curve of the pandemic.Keyword: coronavirus, measures, indicators, response, Albanian population

This abstract is to provide a concise description of the role of hospital funding in Albania. For many years, hospitals in Albania been funded on an historical and line-by-line basis. From year to year, the budgets has based on the previous year’s funding with adjustments based on inflation and political factors. The Health Insurance Fund of Albania is preparing to take over funding decisions with respect to hospitals in January 2017, in the event they are requested to do so. This abstract proposes a fives year program in which Health Insurance Fund of Albania could begin immediately with changes to hospital funding which would generate greater equity among hospitals in terms of funding based on population served. The additional data collected will also enable the Health Insurance Fund of Albania to move toward implementation of a case mix model, which be used for funding but is recommended to be used only as a method to improve the allocation process by putting cost values to cases treated including resource intensity weights reflecting the cost of services. In brief, the current situation in Albania includes the following problems as isufficiency in health financing; the national health insurance scheme is still not consolidated; planning and budgeting are not coordinated; inefficient management of financial resources and lack of transparency and accountability. These reform proposals are ambitious and require detailed planning for their implementation. Significant efforts will be required from key players in the health sector. Background: Resistance to antibiotics is a global public health problem with economic, social and political implications, especially in underdeveloped countries. Over the last few years, this challenge has been of particular importance at the global level seriously endangering the effective treatment of many diseases. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the level of use of antibiotics and practices followed by Pristina primary doctors in Kosovo and to educate and educate as many as possible the population of Pristina regarding the use of antibiotics in order to ensure the quality of their lives. Method: A survey was conducted with a random sampling, attended by about 120 doctors of KPSH to indicate whether they have antibiotics with whom they are familiar, as well as antibiotic access and preference, which is the same regardless of the type of specialization staff at the KPSH. Participants were recruited into one of the 12 Main Family Medicine Centers (KPSH) in Prishtina for the period June - July - August 2017. Results: Of the 120 doctors surveyed at KPSH, on the question of whether you have antibiotics with whom you are familiar with, more than half (55%) do not have any favorite antibiotics, while 40% of them have some antibiotics with whom they are familiar. Though 6 (8.1%) of family doctors have reported that they are familiar with many of the antibiotics, there is no significant difference between Chi-square = 4.76; Df = 4; p = 0.313 after testing. About a quarter of the respondents describe antibiotics without antibiograms, and over half of them sometimes and only 10.8% do not prescribe antibiotics without antibiograms, regardless of the type of specialization of staff at SPC. Patient advise on side effects has been performed by most doctors of SCC and only 5 doctors or 4.2% do not give advice to their patients for side effects, but without significant difference depending on the type of specialization. Over 80% of respondents in their daily practice have encountered a known case of resistance to any antibiotic, but without significant difference depending on the type of specialization
