The relationship between social work and the administration of justice acquires a new dimension in the field of disability. Law 8/2021, which reforms civil and procedural legislation to support people with disabilities in the exercise of their legal capacity, recognizes the importance of this profession and places it on a par with the medical profession in terms of expert information and intervention to be carried out with people with disabilities. The question of support to improve legal capacity is a fundamental variable for the socio-family assessment to be necessary. The contribution of this study is descriptive and propositional; it places the law concerning the social situation and the profession of social work. Subsequently, it details the disciplines or specialties of social work that can participate in these judicial proceedings, with examples of previous relationships between the regulation of disability and social work. Finally, it makes a work proposal, a beginning of the protocol of action between disciplines to seek collaboration in the form of a round table that includes the law. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic limited medical student's exposure to surgical specialities, potentially affecting their understanding of specialties and limiting access to mentorship. Aims: To develop a novel online 'round table' session to increase medical student's exposure to surgical careers, and to assess the value of the event as an educational tool. Method: A virtual education session was held, with questionnaires being completed before and after the virtual event. The event began with an introduction to surgical training. Participants rotated every 10 min in groups, with two specialties represented by a specialist registrar at each station. Data were analysed using a 5-point Likert scale, and a Student Evaluation of Educational Quality (SEEQ) questionnaire was completed. Results: Of the 19 students involved, 14 (73.7%) were female, and 16 (84.2%) were undergraduate. The specialty attendees were most interested in before and after the event were neurosurgery (21.1%, n = 4) and cardiothoracic surgery (26.3%, n = 5), respectively. Five (26.3%) students changed the subspecialty they were most interested in after the event. Attendees' knowledge of surgical training in Ireland improved from 52.6% prior to the educational session to 69.5% after (p < 0.001). The session resulted in an increase in the perceived importance of research (4 [IQR 2–4] versus 4 [IQR 4–5], p = 0.0021). Conclusions: This 'Virtual Surgical Speed Dating' event offered medical students an opportunity to interact with various surgical specialties despite the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The novel approach increased medical students' exposure to surgical trainees, improved knowledge of training pathways and altered student values influencing career decision-making. The agreement of the round table signed on April 5, 1989, resulted in the creation of the government of Tadeusz Mazowiecki (September 12, 1989) and the end of communist rule in Poland. However, it should be pointed out that the agreement of the round table is currently often criticized. It is claimed, among other things, that the agreement was a form of “unification of the elite” (the term Jack Kuroń) to obtain financial and political benefits. As a result, the mixed communist-solidarity elite has taken over power in the country, guided solely by their own interests. It is also stressed that the contract has enabled the Communists to retain enormous influence in the special services, state administration, various institutions, the economy, and finance. On the other hand, these irregularities have been attributed to the solidarity elites who consider the round table agreements to be persistent. Other parts of the solidarity elite treated the round table exclusively as tactical action to take power away from the Communists.

The work of the IV All-Russian scientific conference with international participation “Scientific foundations for sustainable forest management” is analyzed. Plenary and sectional reports were presented at five thematic sections and meetings of two round tables. Topical issues related to the development of forest science in the following areas were considered: monitoring and assessment of biological diversity and ecosystem functions/services of forests and their components; improvement of forestry legislation; assessment of the impact of climate change on forests, ways to mitigate the effects of climate change, adaptation to climate change; ways of solving reforestation and reproduction of forest problems; ways of solving problems of forest protection from fires and forest protection. The conference was attended by 185 forestry specialists from 50 institutions.

As the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2019 (PQ19) drew to a close, Australian designers, researchers and educators gathered to discuss the impact of PQ on our scenographic communities while querying the evolutions and challenges facing design practice. Australia's vast geography made this event a unique opportunity to bring together leading experts from multiple states and capture contemporary perspectives. At the midpoint between the 2019 and 2023 gatherings – a time of global pandemics, political unrest and educational transformation – this article offers the outcomes of this roundtable as a unique snapshot of the state of design practice within Australia through the lens of the Quadrennial. The roundtable was themed around Australia's presence at PQ19, the effects of PQ19 on those present and the ripples to be felt by those at home, and what attendance illuminated about current developments and concerns in practice, teaching and research. Led by practitioner-researchers Tessa Rixon and Madeline Taylor, the roundtable featured both the curators of Australia's country and student exhibits; award-winning set, costume and lighting designers with diverse experiences from national opera to independent theatre; and educators and researchers from the nation's top universities. The resulting discussion presents a unique perspective on the gaps and weaknesses in the design education, practice and research; first-hand insights on the challenges and opportunities available in both exhibiting and participating in the PQ; and the need to actively promote and privilege diverse voices and a multiplicity of representations in the process of claiming a 'national' scenographic identity. The roundtable was the first to capture multiple expert first-person Australian perspectives on the PQ while simultaneously contributing to the ongoing international discussion of performance design through the lens of artists, educators and researchers. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan membaca teks bahasa Arab dengan model pembelajaran round table di MAN Banda Aceh 1. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MAN Banda Aceh 1 semester II tahun ajaran 2015-2016 yang berjumlah 885 peserta didik, dengan teknik purposive sampling pada kelas eksperimen (XI-IMA) dan kelas kontrol (XI-IBA). Treatment diberikan pada kelas eksperimen menggunakan model round table, sedangkan kelas kontrol tidak menggunakan round table, kemudian dilakukan posttest yang diamati menggunakan angket. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa dari hasil uji signifikan didapatkan nilai t-hitung t-tabel dengan menggunakan taraf signifikan . Hal ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan peningkatan keterampilan membaca teks bahasa Arab antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol dan disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar mambaca teks bahasa Arab peserta didik yang menggunakan model pembelajaran round table. Abstract: The purpose of this study was to find out the improvement of reading Arabic text skills by using round table Learning model at MAN Banda Aceh 1. This research used the eksperiment. The population in this study were students of class XI MAN Banda Aceh 1 semester II of the 2015-2016 academic year, which consisted of 885 students. The research used purposive sampling technique both in the experimental class (XI-IMA) and the control class (XI- IBA). Treatment was given to the experimental class using the round table model, while the control class was not taught by using round table, Then, a posttest was distributed along with questionnaire. The results obtained was significant because of the t-test was hinger than t-table by using a significant level . The finding indicated that there were differences in the improvement of reading Arabic text skills between the experimental class and the control class. Therefore, there was differences in the learning outcomes of reading Arabic texts by applying round table learning model.

University teachers in Russia have a period of increasing pedagogical and paper load. In this situation it is important to offer an environment, preserving and developing their research skills, providing a possibility of discussing their results in an audience of expert and concerned colleagues. A thematic seminar as a form of such environment in many respects has advantages over conferences, with their strict rules of reports and discussions. The seminar on the history of higher school in St. Petersburg for 15 years has been an informal platform for reports and discussions on the history of higher education not only in St. Petersburg, but also in the territories of the former Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. Reports, presented at the interdisciplinary seminar, deal with the educational policy, the history of educational institutions, the methodology of studying the history of higher education, the study of archival collections of educational institutions, etc. Over the past five year 18 sessions have been held, 4 of them – in the form of problematic round tables; overall 30 reports were presented.

Introduction: With approval of gene therapy for haemophilia likely in the near future, policy frameworks are needed to guide the path forward for this disruptive and novel therapeutic advance. Aim: The WFH has initiated a series of multi‐stakeholder Gene Therapy Round Tables (GTRT) to better understand where guidance is needed and develop initial consensus statements to inform policy. Methods: The first day of the 2nd GTRT was devoted to didactic presentations on models of access to gene therapy, payment and health technology assessment considerations, regulatory issues and the generation of evidence on safety and durable efficacy of gene therapy products. On the second day, participants were tasked with developing and voting on consensus statements that reflected the information presented and multi‐stakeholder views expressed during discussions in the 1st and 2nd WFH GTRTs. The statements covered global access to gene therapy for all people with haemophilia (PWH), collection of long‐term safety and efficacy data, ensuring gene therapy is available for all subgroups of PWH including those who have been largely excluded from clinical trials and characterizing acceptable and ideal factor expression levels for gene therapy products. Results: The first 3 statements achieved consensus (at least 80% agreement) by this group of experts. The statement on identifying an ideal and an acceptable factor level expression elicited a lively discussion but failed to achieve consensus by this group. Conclusions: This issue of ideal and acceptable factor level expression and other unresolved issues will be brought to the 3rd WFH GTRT in 2020. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The research is devoted to the actual problem of introducing new forms of education in higher educational institutions. The author of the publication, based on a large number of sources, studies the formation and development of discussions as a form of study in European universities, and also gives the results of the survey of Master Degree students and determines the main features of the discussion as a form of learning on their basis, namely: the content orientation of discussion participants’ self-realization; communicative basis; presence of a problem situation, logical construction: thesis – argument – refutation or proof of the thesis; organizational completeness. The research also identifies the main types of discussions (lecture-discussion, seminar with elements of discussion, „round table“ etc.) that should be used in modern educational settings.
