(1977). doi:10.1016/0370-2693(77)90293-3, Events of the type e + e − →μ ± +e ∓ + “nothing” have been observed in the magnetic detector PLUTO at the storage ring DORIS at DESY. The data support the hypothesis of the pair production of heavy leptons, and allow to determine decay parameters. Decay rates into muons and electrons are equal within error, and argue for a new lepton number of the heavy lepton.

(1978). doi:10.1016/0370-2693(78)90181-8, Annihilation of e + e − into final states with a single electron has been studied with the PLUTO detector at the DORIS storage ring at CMS energies from 3.6 to 5 GeV. In the sample of 4-prong events without any detected photon we observe 21 events which we assign to the reaction e + e − → τ + τ − → νν e + νϱ 0 π . We obtain a branching ratio for τ + → νϱ 0 π + of 0.050 ± 0.015 with an overall systematic uncertainty of 30%. The data are consistent with the ϱπ coming from an A 1 meson.

Above 4 GeV the cross section cannot be explained by conventional sources like higher order QED processes or inclusive production of the J ϑ (3.1). It is, however, compatible with the pair production of heavy particles of a mass of about 1.9 GeV/ c 2 . Spin assignment and decay parameters are investigated.

(1977). doi:10.1016/0370-2693(77)90289-1, We report on inclusive production of J ψ (3.1)-mesons observed in e + e − -annihilation in the energy range s = 4.0–5.0 GeV . After substraction of the radiative tail of the ψ(3.7) direct production of the J ψ (3.1) is found to be in the order of 0.1% of the total hadronic cross section. No enhancements are seen at s = 4.03 GeV and 4.4 GeV. The level is in agreement with expectations from violation of the Zweig-rule.

(1978). doi:10.1016/0370-2693(78)90742-6, The J/ψ decay modes f 0 (1270)γ and ρπ have been studied in e + e − collision at 3.1 GeV center of mass energy leading to the π + π − γ and π + π − π 0 final states. The f 0 γ decay branching ratio is measured to be (0.20 ± 0.07) × 10 −2 , a value comparable to the J/ψ radiative decay rates into the ηγ and η′γ channels. The J/ψ decay branching ratio into ϱπ is measured to be (1.6 ± 0.4) × 10 −2 .

17. Uncertainty in the analysis of the overall equipment effectiveness on the shop floor

- Abstract
In this article an approach will be presented which supports transparency regarding the effectiveness of manufacturing equipment by combining the fuzzy set theory with the method of the overall equipment effectiveness analysis. One of the key principles of lean production and also a fundamental task in production optimization projects is the prior analysis of the current state of a production system by the use of key performance indicators to derive possible future states. The current state of the art in overall equipment effectiveness analysis is usually performed by cumulating different machine states by means of decentralized data collection without the consideration of uncertainty. In manual data collection or semi-automated plant data collection systems the quality of derived data often diverges and leads optimization teams to distorted conclusions about the real optimization potential of manufacturing equipment. The method discussed in this paper is to help practitioners to get more reliable results in the analysis phase and so better results of optimization projects. Under consideration of a case study obtained results are discussed.

- Abstract
We analyzed data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health) to test the hypothesis that binge drinking, rather than frequency of any drinking, would predict violent behavior in the transition from adolescence to adulthood (TAA). In conservative models, accounting for a host of factors relevant to the TAA, we find that binge drinking, but not frequency of drinking, is associated with violent behavior. The models included a control for nonviolent offending, conforming to studies of the "differential etiology of violence" thesis. In addition, we tested whether this association fell away among participants over the age of 21 and found that underage status did not mediate the association between binge drinking and violent behavior., (© 2023 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)
