3. The Era of Digitalization in Education where do Universities 4.0 Go?

Abstract

Digitalization has revolutionized one of the most significant industries in the modern world, which is education. It has proven to be a successful and renowned strategy throughout the entire spectrum of the education industry. It has dissolved the distinction between physical and virtual distance and integrated more scientific methods for instructors to teach pupils. In order to select the most relevant studies in the digitalization field, bibliometric analysis was used, with the principal source of scientific articles selected being the academic platform Scopus. The content of 3836 research articles has been taken into consideration since 2019 and 2023. The search documents related to the “digitalization” issue are in title, abstract, and keywords. In order to highlight the structure of the scientific field, we used a content analysis, inspecting the most common words and the relationships between words. Additionally, a network of co-occurrences was taken into account. The analysis was performed using the WOSviever program. In the next part of the research, the term “digitalization” was examined in more detail. The Scopus search engine uses filters, including the terms “digitalization,” “higher,” and “education,” but is limited to key words. The content of 104 research articles has been taken into consideration since 2019 and 2023. The research results showed that the fields of technology, education, and management provide the theoretical basis for research on the digitalization of higher education. The findings also demonstrate the topic’s interdisciplinary character (as seen by publications published in several fields) and its strong relationship to concepts like online learning, digital transformation, and sustainable development. Based on the literature analysis, it can be concluded that University 4.0 will go to the smart fully digital University (University 5.0), will take care of aspects of sustainable development, and will develop teachers’ soft skills, especially emotional intelligence.

4. Competitive advantage in healthcare based on augmentation of clinical images with artificial intelligence: case study of the 'Sambias' project

Abstract

In the era of artificial intelligence, and particularly machine learning and deep learning models, the availability of large datasets is crucial to develop innovative and effective services, especially in the healthcare field. In this context, one essential requirement is access to verified information for contextualising/enriching the data. The SAMBIAS project analysed in this study involves the implementation of a software platform for data sharing in clinical scenarios, with the main objective of providing specific medical datasets to improve the competitiveness of the healthcare organisation from a general point of view. The platform, which is accessible via the web, provides on-demand, augmented sets of clinical situations, based on the enormous amounts of data that are collected by the health information systems of healthcare organisations. The case under investigation here is the Casa di Cura Tortorella s.p.a., Salerno, Italy. The implications of this platform are discussed in terms of more efficient performance.

7. Expectations for Renewable Energy, and Its Impacts on Quality of Life in European Union Countries

Abstract

The primary goals of the study are to present a qualitative examination of household awareness of renewable energy sources and to ascertain their requirements, as well as their expectations for an improvement in quality of life as a consequence of using renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution while improving public health. There are no empirical studies examining the level of household awareness of renewable energy in EU countries, so this gap is also considered a further area of empirical research. Seven European nations were selected for the study: the Czech Republic, Slovenia, France, Portugal, Spain, Austria, and Germany. The survey was conducted from April 2021 to June 2022 with over 17030 respondents. Additionally, it was given a statistical analysis by using the C-Pearson coefficient. Results of our study showed that households’ awareness is low and they also expect that they will not pay more for tourist services that use renewable energy sources. Moreover, results showed that when renewable energy sources are used, in households’ opinions, levels of CO2 will decrease and that this will have a favorable effect on the environment, but they still think that this will have a detrimental influence on their health.

12. Employee perception of CSR and its effects on the company’s image

Abstract

Understanding and promoting the CSR is an important societal issue, and circumstances force modern-minded management to abandon the classical model of only the necessary fulfilment of legally set obligations. There has been a lot of study done on employee perceptions of CSR in the workplace, but very little has been done on how employees comprehend CSR and how they received it at their work-place in chosen countries. Research was carried out based on a questionnaire survey with data collection from September 2020 to March 2021, with a total of 1103 respondents. The aim of the article is to describe the CSR concept among employees meaning in selected countries: Zimbwabwe, Czech Republic, Poland. The measuring instrument used in the study was the questionnaire method, in which the research tool is a questionnaire CAWI - Computer Assisted Web Interview. It was shown that enterprises apply CSR activities, but they are not fully aware of the CSR benefits.

13. Measuring the Impact of the Green Supply Chain on Sustainable Performance

Abstract

The main purpose of green supply chain is to ensure that the customer’s requirements and needs are met without compromising the sustainability aspect of environment and prevent the latter from getting polluted. The purpose of current study is to measure the impact of green supply chain upon sustainability so as to reduce the environmental pollution. The author(s) used questionnaire to collect the data for current study whereas field coexistence and interviews were also conducted with stakeholders. The research questions were posed at 185 workers to find a solution for the research problem. The study results arrived at a few conclusions. The results infer that some of the dimensions of green supply chain exert an influence on sustainable performance. The study found the most important treatments to overcome the weaknesses through smoothly-applicable recommendations. Keywords: green supply chain, sustainable performance.

14. Security and Privacy of Customer Data as an Element Creating the Image of the Company

Abstract

COVID-19, mobility, socio-social changes have transferred to the world of social media communication, purchasing activities, the use of services. Corporate social media has been created to support clients in using various services, give them the possibility of easy communication without time and local barriers. Unfortunately, they still very rarely take into account the security and privacy of customers. Considering that the purpose of this article is to investigate the impact of social media on the company’s image, it should be remembered that this image also works for the security and privacy of customer data. Data leaks or their sale are not welcomed by customers. The results of empirical research show that the safety, simplicity and variety of services offered on social media have a significant impact on the perceived quality, which in turn positively affects the reputation. The authors proposed a methodology based on the Kano model and customer satisfaction in order to examine the declared needs and undefined desires and divide them into different groups with different impacts on consumer satisfaction. The interview participants were employees of 10 randomly selected companies using social media to conduct sales or service activities. 5,000 people from Poland, Portugal and Germany participated in the study. 4,894 correctly completed questionnaires were received.

17. Barriers to Knowledge Sharing in the Field of Information Security

Abstract

Today, sharing knowledge requires taking into account many aspects. Variable environmental conditions, the people factor, and the security of resources are just a few that should be considered for a noticeable improvement in the functioning of the company. Supporting this course of action requires the identification of all barriers that may exist in the enterprise. Only the owner and senior management by establishing system and organizational changes can influence this element of the business. The aim of the article is to indicate the problems in this respect that block the proper functioning of the company in the field of information and knowledge exchange. The survey was conducted with the help of a questionnaire among 189 respondents. The industry has significantly decreased in the last few decades, currently there are 307 companies operating in Poland. Conclusions from the conducted research were collected on the basis of a questionnaire survey. The further stage of the research will be to compare the collected results with the results from Western European countries.

18. Quality management and safety of food in HACCP system aspect

Abstract

The practical implementation of hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) and in particular the definition of the critical control points (CCPs) in the food industry is usually a complex structured task. This is particularly the case of food enterprise, where quality/safety manager ability, knowledge of the production processes and ‘‘sensitiveness’’ is usually the discriminate for the proper identification and prioritization of risks. The same applies for the definition of causes which may lead to food safety hazards. This paper addresses the issues of how quality/safety managers can objectively and automatically implement the HACCP principles of hazard analysis in the application of HACCP, which is the identification of risk priorities and of the related CCPs. The proposed methodology combines decision tree analysis approach for the analytical decomposition of the relevant steps in the manufacturing process of ice cream.

Abstract

Summary Background The mechanism underlying statin-induced event reduction in patients with acute coronary syndrome remains unclear. Aims To assess the efficacy of rosuvastatin 20 mg versus atorvastatin 80 mg in reducing the apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A-1 (apoB/apoA-1) ratio at 3 months. Non-inferiority of rosuvastatin 20 mg versus atorvastatin 80 mg in reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol at 1 and 3 months was also assessed. Methods Patients with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome were enrolled into this randomized, double blind, parallel-group trial. Results In total, 753 patients (369, rosuvastatin 20 mg; 384, atorvastatin 80 mg) were included in the intention-to-treat analysis; 478 patients (226, rosuvastatin 20 mg; 252, atorvastatin 80 mg) were included in the per-protocol analysis. Rosuvastatin 20 mg was more effective than atorvastatin 80 mg in decreasing apoB/apoA-1 ratio at 1 month (−44.4% vs −42.9%, p = 0.02) but not at 3 months (both −44.4%, p = 0.87). Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol decreased by ∼50% after 1 and 3 months in both groups. Non-inferiority of rosuvastatin 20 mg versus atorvastatin 80 mg was demonstrated at 1 month (difference, −0.3% [95% confidence interval, −2.7; +2.1]), but not at 3 months (+1.0% [−1.6; 3.5]) (intention-to-treat analysis). In the per-protocol analysis, non-inferiority of rosuvastatin 20 mg was demonstrated at both 1 (−0.7% [−3.5; 2.0]) and 3 (−0.5% [−3.5; 2.5]) months. Conclusion In patients with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome, rosuvastatin 20 mg decreased apoB/apoA-1 ratio at 1 month more than atorvastatin 80 mg. No difference could be shown at 3 months; thus, the primary endpoint was not met.

25. Social engineering of human resources and provision of medical services on leadership styles in hospitals

Abstract

Paper present impact of human resources issues as well as issues related to provision of medical services on leadership styles in hospitals in Poland. In this study a descriptive research design was used and a quantitative research was conducted, which was based on the so-called BOST methodology. Surveys were conducted among department heads of 10 public hospitals of various referral systems from the Upper-Silesian Agglomeration providing various types of medical services (which shows a large variety of research sample) operating in Poland. The research showed that both improtance of service provision as well as human resources were not as important as they should be.

Abstract

Knowledge and competence cultivation of the nation is based on the cultivation of knowledge and competences of University teachers. From this point of view, the paper deals with the key competences of University teachers, trying to identify competences in general, identify their importance in a case of teachers/scholars and suggest suitable methods for development of teachers’ crucial competences: teaching, professional and communication competence. Methodological part consists of presenting main results of our questionnaire survey realized at the Universities in Slovak Republic and Poland. Survey results point out relatively high level of teachers’motivation to quality education and objective assessment of students but a slightly lower motivation to increase the level of teacher's own knowledge. Application part of the paper contains the suggested methods and techniques for developing teaching competence (e.g. coaching, mentoring, consulting and shadowing experienced educational authorities), professional competence (e.g. participation in the foreign academic and other internships and scholarships), and communication competence (e.g. keeping the so-called communication journal, removing communication imperfections and replacing them by more appropriate elements, training the communication skills, etc.). In conclusion, a neuro linguistic programming is also suggested as a suitable method of developing (especially young) teachers’ potential and competences.

29. Effects of Acarbose on Proinsulin and Insulin Secretion and their Potential Significance for the Intermediary Metabolism and Cardiovascular System

Abstract

The alpha-glucosidase inhibitor acarbose is administered to control blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetic patients and, in several countries, in those with impaired glucose tolerance. The efficacy and safety of the drug has been well established in these patient populations. Acarbose shows no weakening of efficacy in long-term diabetes treatment, reduces the development of type 2 diabetes in those with impaired glucose tolerance, and also appears to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The underlying mechanisms of its effect on the risk of developing macrovascular complications have still to be elucidated. The mode of action of acarbose, which precedes all other metabolic processes involved in blood glucose regulation, inhibits high increases in postprandial blood glucose. Due to this early mode of action, acarbose also modifies insulin and proinsulin secretion which are both involved in ß-cell dysfunction and insulin resistance and may be independent risk factors for cardiovascular mortality. Based on the literature available the present state of knowledge on insulin and proinsulin as risk factors for cardiovascular mortality is reviewed as well as the effect of acarbose on the regulation of the ß-cells as monotherapy and in combination regimens. Possible associated interactions with the cardiovascular system are identified.

The manner in which food is produced, distributed, sold and controlled has changed radically over the last fifty years. This has lead to dissociation and de‐skilling of consumers while control of quality and safety have remained in the hands of legislators and producers. With the globalization of trade consumers perceive in foods unacceptable levels of food safety risk. In the new century the conflict between perceived safety and manageable risk may be resolved by open debate and the establishment of mechanisms which include the ethical dimensions of food production and use.

Abstract

Graves' disease is a HLA-linked autoimmune disease (Tiwari & Terasaki 1985). It is associated with certain HLA antigens, mainly with the HLA class II antigen HLA-DR3 (Tiwari & Terasaki 1985).Aberrant expression of HLA class II antigens on thyroidal cells was reported recently and was suggested to mediate the autoimmune response by presentation of autoantigens (Hanafusa et al. 1983).The aim of our study, was to determine HLA-DRβ genes in HLA matched patients suffering from Graves' disease, and Type I (insulin-dependent) diabetics and in addition in non HLA typed normal controls.

Abstract

Background: Exhaled nitric oxide is helpful in the diagnosis of the inflammation process. The study aimed to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 disease on the oral bacterial flora of patients using complete dentures with a diagnostic device that measures the level of NO in exhaled air., Materials and Methods: The study included patients using upper and lower acrylic complete dentures. All patients participating in the study were vaccinated against COVID-19. The patients were divided into two groups. A dental examination was conducted in each group. The NO concentration was measured using the Vivatmo Pro device. An oral microbiological examination was performed by taking a swab from the bottom of the mouth., Results: There were no statistically significant differences in the distribution of NO in relation to the number of bacteria from isolated families in the study and control groups and no statistically significant correlations between the level of NO and the number of bacteria from all families in the control and study group. Significantly higher NO values were present in the vaccinated and COVID-19-positive history population compared to the vaccinated and with no COVID-19 history population (patients with no clinical symptoms of infection or unaware they had COVID-19)., Conclusions: There are statistically significant differences in NO distribution in the considered populations: vaccinated and sick, and vaccinated and with a negative history of COVID-19. The measurement of NO in exhaled air can be a complementary, non-invasive diagnostic and inflammation monitoring method.

Inflammation in the oral cavity, confirmed by clinical and histopathological examination and determination of exhaled nitric oxide, is a situation which may cause the complications on the whole human body. Elimination of the patology in the oral cavity in some cases is the only resonable treatment. The aims and objectives of our work is to present a gradual treatment of advanced infalmmation and present huge reduction stamp of inflammation measured with marker nitric oxide (NO) in exhaled air., Materials and Methods: Simple treatment containing elimantion of pathology in the oral cavity was conducted. Patient that came to the dental practice suffered from the inflammation caused by lack of proper hygiene. First aid in this situation was to eliminate the inflammation which may affect negatively for general health. At first visit full hygienization was performed, at the second visit roots of abutment teeth and implants were removed under local anesthesia along with cystic changes., Results: The hygiene precedures and extraction of the unsteady inflammationprosthetic restorations significantly decreased the level of NO in exhaled air., Conclusions: During the examination of the patient coming to the dental practice great attention should be paid to the coexistence of pathologies related to the oral cavity. Omission of a dental examination and possible elimination of odontogenic foci may affect the implication of the results of general diagnostics and subsequent treatment. Measuring the level of NO on exhaled air seems to be useful diagnostic method.
