This study was conducted to document bryophyte species in a forest patch of Pres Roxas, Cotabato, Philippines. A modified belt transect method was employed and 3 transect lines were established along the human-established trail. Moreover 5 1x1m2 quadrats were randomly established in each transect line. A total of 18 species of mosses and liverworts were identified. These species were classified under 11 families, and 14 genera. Nine (9) species of bryophytes were identified from both transect 1 and 2 while in transect 3, only 5 species thrived. Of the 18 species identified, Thiudium benguetense is found in the 3 transect lines established. Two (2) were identified endemic to the Philippines - Ecthropothecium ferrugineum and Thiudium benguetense. Moreover, similarity index showed that 86% are discordant species and each transect line harbors unique species of bryophytes. It is recommended that intervention in the protection and conservation of the remaining flora community of the mountain ecosystem must be employed given that community is dependent on the water coming from it.

The concentrations of nutrient solutions have a significant impact on the growthof Brassica rapa. The effects of nutritional solutions on plant growth, fresh weight, water consumption, and the number of nutrients in leaf tissue demonstrated that the interactions between factors are not the same. According to the findings of the study, the collected nutrients could be used as fertilizer. Therefore, hydroponic systems will require less mineral fertilizer. The environmental temperature is one of the most important abiotic factors that could slow down the process of development, production, and spread. Based on the data, it is feasible to conclude that the cultivar is more resistant to cold stress.

Aim: Hospital acquired infections are preventable with proper healthcare behavior among workers and strict compliance. This study aimed to determine the infection prevention and control practices by staff nurses. Methods: This study utilized the correlational approach in exploring the infection prevention and control practices among nurses in government hospitals in Ha'il region Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. There were 189 respondents resulting from convenience sampling. Descriptive statistics were used to represent the demographic profiles and scores of the participants while Spearman's rho was used to determine the significant relationship between the four (4) dimensions in IPC practice. Data gathering was conducted between November and December 2019. Results: The infection prevention and control guidance (89.96±10.74), healthcare associated infection associated infection (84.92±9.49), and built environment, material and equipment (86.23±12.03) were found to have an advanced level while infection control programme is intermediate in level (29.99±3.99). In a changing context, the use of knowledge management (KM) generates value and a long-lasting competitive advantage. As a critical issue for societal development, sustainable organisations must consider the relationship between KM and healthcare. They must investigate how knowledge is created and identify potential predictors of knowledge-sharing behaviour to support a hospital’s long-term knowledge-management strategy. Managers could benefit from KM strategies to improve the performance of hospitals and other healthcare organisations. This study aimed to determine the knowledge management and sustainability performance of a hospital organisation based on the perspective of the healthcare managers. A cross-sectional research approach was employed involving the healthcare managers of a government-subsidised hospital in the Hail Region of Saudi Arabia. The study was conducted between September and October 2022. The results demonstrated that knowledge management was commendable (4.41 ± 0.470) and had high sustainability performance (4.28 ± 0.558). Predictors for knowledge management included gender (B = 0.201; p = 0.002), managerial position (B = 0.285; p < 0.000), years of experiences as manager (B = 0.319; p < 0.000) and educational attainment (B = 0.092; p = 0.003). The predictors for sustainability were gender (B = 0.023; p < 0.000), managerial position (B = 0.352; p < 0.000) and years of experience as a manager (B = 0.0648; p < 0000). The study found that knowledge management was a predictive factor in sustainability regarding economic (B = 0.735; p < 0.000), social (B = 1.028; p < 0.000), environmental (B = 0.774; p < 0.000), technical (B = 0.751; p < 0.000) and governance (B = 0.526; p < 0.000), while knowledge management had a strong correlation to sustainability performance (R = 0.663; p < 0.000). Therefore, knowledge management for learning should be consistently created and shared to keep members involved in the core of operations. When knowledge is put into practice, it can help an organisation innovate, sustain better performance and guarantee long-term success. These study findings may additionally persuade workers to put more effort into knowledge management.

This paper explores possible scenarios for the Research Culture of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), to be known as Polytechnic State University of Bicol (PSUB). The paper utilized Jim Dator’s four archetypes of alternative futures to construct PSUB’s Research Culture possible scenarios by 2030. This paper highlights the assumption that the research culture in PSUB is of world class quality and all of its faculty members are actively involved in research, its disciplined, collapsed, transformative, or business as usual scenarios. Four plausible scenarios have surfaced in this paper: Progressive Research Culture, Lax and Deficit Research Culture, Sophisticated Research Culture, and Transformative Research Culture. The article explored areas for a preferred future by 2030. It requires multiple drivers along faculty, students, administration and community for a better research culture. This study proved to be useful in crafting and anticipating the future scenarios of PSUB’s research culture. Preliminary as it may, this study highlighted important building blocks of the four future scenarios. Dator’s framework was proved to be very useful in developing the four scenarios, the use of other future study tools will further amplify plausible scenarios for the Polytechnic State University of Bicol.

This research aimed to investigate the level of stress and coping mechanisms of the College of Education (CED) students at Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC) in online distance learning. This study also aimed to determine if there is a significant difference in the level of stress of the respondents when grouped according to sex and age. A descriptive research design was undertaken to assess the respondents' level of stress and coping mechanisms. The data were subjected to appropriate statistical tools utilized in the study such as frequency count, percentage distribution, weighted mean, and one-way ANOVA. Based on the major findings of the study, it can be concluded that students experience stress during their online distance learning brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic. Bad internet connection, financial problems, disturbances in academic life, improper learning environment, tiredness, and irritation in performing their schoolwork are the significant causes of the stress of the students in dealing with their online distance learning. It was also found that they have different coping mechanisms in dealing with stress in their online distance learning. Such coping mechanisms were praying or meditating, creating a conducive learning environment, thinking positively, and playing online games. It was determined that male respondents experienced more stress in online distance learning than female respondents. The study aimed to determine the perceived challenges and satisfaction levels of Bachelor of Elementary Education in online distance learning. The descriptive-correlational design was used in this study. The investigations were conducted at Notre Dame of Midsayap College on fifty (50) BEED students who are enrolled in online distance learning for School Year 2021-2022 and the majority of them were female students. A researcher-modified survey questionnaire was used in data gathering, Frequency and percentage distribution, mean and standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA, and Pearson-r correlation were used in treating the data. The study revealed that the students have challenges in online distance learning. The study found out that the highest challenges encountered by the students in online distance learning are slow internet connection due to their location and facing many interruptions when learning at home such as household chores and other errands. The students are highly satisfied with how teachers showed interest in helping students to learn and the teacher’s accessibility and availability. Moreover, the respondents are least satisfied with how timely teachers give feedback on their performance. This study is a survey on Grade 12 STEM students’ learning experience in online distance learning. The study is undertaken to determine the learning experiences of the Grade 12 STEM students. Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions: (1) What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of their sex? (2) What was the students' overall learning process in online distance learning? (3) What was students’ perception of the learning community in online distance learning? (4) What was students’ perception of student support in online distance learning? (5) What were the benefits and barriers during online distance learning? (6) Is there a significant difference in the overall learning experiences of the respondents in terms of sex? The study utilized descriptive research design. The respondents will be utilizing researchermodified questionnaires. The researchers also took selected statements from the review-related literature to help in answering the statement of the problem. The researchers constructed a self-made online questionnaire in Google form for the study and sent it to the respondents’ Messenger accounts. On the interpretation of the data, it was revealed that majority of the respondents are agree to the statements asked about the students over all learning experiences. Lastly, findings revealed that there is no significant difference in the overall learning experiences of the respondents in terms of sex.

The COVID-19 pandemic has compelled a shift to online teaching and learning in colleges and universities around the world, requiring teachers to adapt their instruction in a very short period of time—regardless of whether they were prepared. Drawing from a sample of 30 faculty and 172 students, the study investigates the teacher’s level of readiness in teaching Mathematics in the Modern World in an online platform in terms of course design, course communication, time management, technical skills, and pedagogical skills and to compare the teacher and student’s assessments of teacher’s online teaching competencies. The study adopted the quantitative-descriptive research method. Stratified random sampling and exact population sampling were utilized. An online questionnaire was used, and the responses were analyzed quantitatively. Results revealed that teachers have a high level of ability to teach the subject online. Additionally, results showed that there is no significant difference in the assessment of online teaching as perceived by teachers and students; this infers that two groups of respondents have the same perception of faculty members' readiness to teach Mathematics in the Modern World online. Thus, a training intervention program is recommended for teachers in order to improve their competencies in instructional development, time management, technological skills, and teaching strategies. &nbsp

With the fast growing demand of resources from the society, comes a much greater need for a more reliable and safer industries. Accidents in the past which caused loss of lives, damage to properties and destruction to the environment have impacted us more than we can imagine. Because of this, safety standards and recommended practices have been developed by different technical organizations to guide the industry practitioners to design, validate, operate and maintain the systems in a more reliable and safer way. Risk analysis has always been practiced in the process industry and has proven to help identify, assess, quantify and mitigate the hazards that are brought by these systems. In order to mitigate these hazards, different protection layers are utilized, such as safety instrumented system, which is conceptualized through its safety instrumented function. To design, maintain and assess these functions, functional safety analysis is being carried out. This master's thesis conducts an in-depth functional safety analysis of a subsea compressor anti-surge protection system presented in a case study. First, an introduction to the topic is discussed, followed by presenting the main objective which is 'to conduct a functional safety analysis using the procedure in the standard in a subsea application', then followed by elaborating how the study is approached, and finally, discussing the limitations of the paper. After the preliminary introduction, the paper enumerates the different industry standards related to functional safety, such as IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. Important risk and reliability theories used all throughout the study, such as SIF (safety instrumented function) and SIS (safety instrumented system), are also introduced. It is the followed by a thorough literature review of the two main topics which are functional safety and anti-surge system. Lastly, different mathematical and risk analysis methods that is vital in achieving a successful functional safety analysis are elaborated. The introduction and presentation of all the important concepts is then followed by an in-depth functional analysis. The analysis begins by introducing the case study, the conditions and the main problem to be solved. It is then followed by the steps reflected in IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 until SRS (safety requirements specifications) is produced. The results from the analysis finds that the safety functions in the case study are reliable. It also suggests strategies in order to achieve the desired safety functions, solutions to the problem and ways improve the reliability of the system in the study. After results and discussion, the paper then concludes that the functional safety analysis procedures presented in the standard is applicable for subsea safety functions. It also verifies the practicality of integrating mathematical methods along with risk analysis method to find and confirm safety integrity of a safety instrumented function. The paper recommends that more studies should be conducted to formulate a specific functional safety analysis for subsea SIFs and that subsea specifications should be more established in the future.

Fieldworks were conducted last January to March, 2019 to collect and record species of weevils at Sitio Matigsalug, Marahan, Marilog Forest Reserve, Marilog District, Mindanao, Philippines. Standard sampling techniques such as belt transect and opportunistic sampling were conducted in the established 2 kilometers transect to survey the agroforest and montane ecosystems with elevations of 800-950 masl and 1,000-1,300 masl, respectively. A total of 228 individuals belonging to 2 families and 22 species of weevils were recorded, all of which are only known from forest and mountain ecosystems of Mindanao. Metapocrytus is the most encountered genus with 12 species. The montane forest had higher species richness with 15 species but with lower species abundance of 34 individuals compared to the agroforest ecosystem with 13 species and 194 individuals. Seven (7) species are common in both sites. Plant associates and behavior of the observed weevils were also noted which include 22 species of ferns and flowering plants. Other than perching behavior, species are also observed copulating, feeding and mostly hiding in abaxial part of leaves. As flightless beetles with high vulnerability for predation by other insectivorous species, the observations gathered will help in understanding their behaviors for survival. Despite of high species richness and abundance, anthropogenic disturbances such as agricultural activities are on-going which extend towards the montane forest in the area. Conservation initiatives must be implemented to protect the remaining endemic and rare species of flora and fauna.

Thorough and precise estrus detection plays a crucial role in the fertility of dairy cows. Farmers commonly used direct visual monitoring in recognizing estrus signs which demands time and effort and causes misinterpretations. The primary sign of estrus is the standing heat, where the dairy cows stand to be mounted by other cows for a few seconds. Through the years, researchers developed various detection methods, yet most of these methods involve contact and invasive approaches that affect the estrus behaviors of cows. So, the proponents developed a non-invasive and non-contact estrus detection system using image processing to detect standing heat behaviors. Through the TensorFlow Object Detection API, the proponents trained two custom neural network models capable of visualizing bounding boxes of the predicted cow objects on image frames. The proponents also developed an object overlapping algorithm that utilizes the bounding box corners to detect estrus activities. Based on the conducted tests, an estrus event occurs when the centroids of the detected objects measure a distance of less than 360px and have two interior angles with another fixed point of less than 25° and greater than 65° for Y and X axes, respectively. If the conditions are met, the program will save the image frame and will declare an estrus activity. Otherwise, it will restart its estrus detection and counting. The system observed 17 cows, a carabao, and a bull through the cameras installed atop of a cowshed, and detects the estrus events with an efficiency of 50%.
