This paper explores how proactive behavior and constructive deviance relate to affective organizational commitment and turnover intention through idea championing. Based on a two-wave study (N= 310), structural equation model analyses revealed that constructive deviance had an inhibitory effect and proactive behavior a facilitatory effect on idea championing. In turn, idea championing was related to increased affective commitment and reduced turnover intention. The analyses of indirect effects further indicated that proactive behavior and constructive deviance had opposite indirect effects on affective commitment and turnover intention. This research underlines the importance of acting proactively upstream rather than deviating from the norm to promote innovation and build employee loyalty to the organization. Finally, this study also indicates that proactive and constructive deviant behaviors are conceptually different and exert opposite effects despite their similar orientation toward innovation and change.

Based on proactivity literature, feedback seeking behavior is generally used throughout an individual’s career to enable better adaptation to the work environment. However, it has recently been shown that declining levels of feedback seeking behavior may result in decreased psychological attachment over time. This study aims to explore whether individual adaptivity represents a mechanism through which feed-back seeking affects psychological attachment (i.e., well-being involvement and withdrawal). In addition, the interaction effect of organizational obstruction between individual adaptivity and psychological attachment was examined. Based on three-wave survey data obtained from 273 participants from French organizations, a moderated mediation model was tested using structural equation modeling. Results confirmed that adaptive performance mediated positively the relationship between feedback-seeking and wellbeing involvement and negatively with withdrawal. Moreover, perceived organizational obstruction moderated negatively the relationship between adaptive performance and withdrawal, and positively that with well-being. These results shed new light on the relationship between proactivity (i.e., feedback seeking behavior) and adaptive performance, but also on the positive short-term contribution of successful adaptation in a perceived obstructive organizational context. Theoretical contributions and practical implications for human resource management are discussed.

Cet ouvrage explore le rôle que peut jouer l’épistémologie en didactique des sciences expérimentales et des mathématiques. Il offre une vue d’ensemble sur cette question ainsi qu’une série d’études de cas portant sur des contenus d’enseignement variés et couvrant différents niveaux d’enseignement, depuis l’école primaire jusqu’à l’université. Les contributions se répartissent selon deux axes de recherche. Le premier examine la construction des connaissances scientifiques elles-mêmes et leur transposition pour la classe, tandis que le second s’intéresse davantage au mode d’enseignement des sciences.

Resume La prise de parole est un comportement essentiel susceptible d’inhiber ou de generer des processus d’innovation et de changement organisationnel. A ce jour, peu d’echelles de mesure adaptees au contexte francais et permettant d’analyser ce comportement existent. Cet article propose de traduire l’echelle de prise de parole en 4 facteurs de Maynes et Podsakoff (2014). La traduction de cette echelle a ete testee par 4 etudes sur differents echantillons regroupant 1275 travailleurs francais de milieux organisationnels divers. Tout d’abord, les premieres etudes testent la fiabilite, la coherence interne, les validites divergente et convergente de l’echelle. Puis, une analyse d’invariance en fonction du genre teste les proprietes metriques de l’echelle. Les resultats obtenus presentent des qualites psychometriques acceptables validant ainsi la version francaise.

Au vu des taux de prévalence élevés et de la gravité des problèmes de santé encourus en cas de violences intrafamiliales, disposer d’outils d’aide à la pratique apparaît comme une nécessité en regard de l’approche clinique recommandée par les derniers " guidelines ". Elaborés au départ de focus-groups, ces outils concernent tant l’évaluation que les différentes étapes de la prise en charge. Certains sont des supports adressés directement aux praticiens, d’autres sont conçus comme aide au dialogue avec le patient et visent la psychoéducation sur la chronicité des violences et les impacts sur la santé des enfants exposés. Given the high prevalence rates and the seriousness of the health problems incurred in cases of domestic violence, having tools to support the practice appears to be a necessity with regard to the clinical approach recommended by the latest " guidelines ". Developed from focus groups, these tools concern both the evaluation and the different stages of care. Some are materials addressed directly to practitioners, others are designed as an aid to dialogue with the patient and aim at psychoeducation on the chronicity of violence and the health impacts of exposed children. The frequency of domestic violence is difficult to assess with sufficient precision because it is a societal taboo and those personally affected resist speaking about it. Although its prevalence is certainly higher than what is reported or observed during consultations with general practitioners who are most often the first professionals involved in the problem, the various recommendations in this area do not advise systematic screening. Additional reason is the inadequacy of sufficiently validated tools (questionnaires), which provide enough sensitivity and specificity. In practice, family physicians should be well aware of the existence and frequency of the phenomenon, have received specific training, and be alert to risk factors, clinical symptoms and red flags. Even if all signals are not specific, their association must be considered as a warning to practitioners and lead to early detection. International audience; Deviance theory introduces a behavioural view on constructive and destructive deviance to explain how an individual’s intent can harm or improve organisational well-being. However, to our knowledge, no scale exists that evaluates the personal orientation aspect of deviance and normativity. This article discusses the creation of the Norm and Deviance-Seeking Personal Orientation Scale (NDPOS). To create this scale, we studied the psychometric properties of the instrument using data from French workers. NDPOS exploratory analysis indicated a 12-item scale composed of four factors: normative conformity, normative rule adequacy, deviant performance seeking, and deviant proactivity seeking. Confirmatory factor analysis corroborated the factorial structure in four sub-scales. Convergent and discriminant validity indicated that deviant dimensions were positively related to expressing voice, cognitive flexibility, and deviant behaviours, whereas normativity dimensions were negatively or not related to these behaviours. Furthermore, opposite relations between the conformity construct and the four factors were observed. Practical implications and suggestions for the development of future research on constructive deviance theory are discussed.
