The aerospace sector is one of the many sectors in which large amounts of data are generated. Thanks to the evolution of technology, these data can be exploited in several ways to improve the operation and management of industrial processes. However, to achieve this goal, it is necessary to define architectures and data models that allow to manage and homogenise the heterogeneous data collected. In this paper, we present an Airport Digital Twin Reference Conceptualisation's and data model based on FIWARE Generic Enablers and the Next Generation Service Interfaces-Linked Data standard. Concretely, we particularise the Airport Digital Twin to improve the efficiency of flight turnaround events. The architecture proposed is validated in the Aberdeen International Airport with the aim of reducing delays in commercial flights. The implementation includes an application that shows the real state of the airport, combining two-dimensional and three-dimensional virtual reality representations of the stands, and a mobile application that helps ground operators to schedule departure and arrival flights.

Quantum computing holds great promise to solve to problems where classical computers cannot reach. To the point where it already arouses the interest of both scientific and industrial communities. Thus, it is expected that hybrid systems will start to appear where quantum software interacts with classical systems. Such coexistence can be fostered by service computing. Unfortunately, the way in which quantum code can be offered as a service still misses out on many of the potential benefits of service computing. This paper takes the traveling salesman problem, and tackles the challenge of giving it an implementation in the form of a quantum microservice. Then it is used to detect which of the benefits of service computing are lost in the process. The conclusions help to measure the distance between the current state of technology and the state that would be desirable in order to have a real quantum service engineering., Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures, 2 tables

Today's world is a globalized and connected one, where people are increasingly moving around and interacting with a greater number of services and devices of all kinds, including those that allow them to monitor their health. However, each company, institution or health system usually store its patients' data in an isolated way. Although this approach can have some benefits related with privacy, security, etc., it also implies that each one of them generates different, incomplete and possibly contradictory views of a patient's health data, losing part of the value that this information could bring to the patient. That is the reason why researchers from all over the world are determined to replace the current institution-centered health systems with new patient-centered ones. In these new systems, all the health information of a patient is integrated into a unique global vision. However, some questions are still unanswered. Specifically, who should store and maintain the information of a given patient and how should this information be made available for other systems. To address this situation, this work proposes a new solution towards making the Personal Health Trajectory of patients available for both, the patients themselves and health institutions. By using the concept of blockchains' federation and web services access to the global vision of a person health can be granted to existing and new solutions. Through the use of a system-building approach, an approach that includes finding common ground for the various philosophical paradigms within statistics, Erich L. Lehmann is responsible for much of the synthesis of classical statistical knowledge that developed from the Neyman--Pearson--Wald school. A biographical sketch and a brief summary of some of his many contributions are presented here. The Johnson-Lindenstrauss Lemma allows for the projection of $n$ points in $p-$dimensional Euclidean space onto a $k-$dimensional Euclidean space, with $k \ge \frac{24\ln \emph{n}}{3\epsilon^2-2\epsilon^3}$, so that the pairwise distances are preserved within a factor of $1\pm\epsilon$. Here, working directly with the distributions of the random distances rather than resorting to the moment generating function technique, an improvement on the lower bound for $k$ is obtained. The additional reduction in dimension when compared to bounds found in the literature, is at least $13\%$, and, in some cases, up to $30\%$ additional reduction is achieved. Using the moment generating function technique, we further provide a lower bound for $k$ using pairwise $L_2$ distances in the space of points to be projected and pairwise $L_1$ distances in the space of the projected points. Comparison with the results obtained in the literature shows that the bound presented here provides an additional $36-40\%$ reduction., Comment: 24 pages, 2 tables

The idea of the Lehmann Symposia as platforms to encourage a revival of interest in fundamental questions in theoretical statistics, while keeping in focus issues that arise in contemporary interdisciplinary cutting-edge scientific problems, developed during a conversation that I had with Victor Perez Abreu during one of my visits to Centro de Investigaci\'{o}n en Matem\'{a}ticas (CIMAT) in Guanajuato, Mexico. Our goal was and has been to showcase relevant theoretical work to encourage young researchers and students to engage in such work. The First Lehmann Symposium on Optimality took place in May of 2002 at Centro de Investigaci\'{o}n en Matem\'{a}ticas in Guanajuato, Mexico. A brief account of the Symposium has appeared in Vol. 44 of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics series of Lecture Notes and Monographs. The volume also contains several works presented during the First Lehmann Symposium. All papers were refereed.
