The new coronavirus, a newly discovered disease, has generated major changes worldwide, mainly of an economic, social, political, cultural and psychological nature. In the capital of Amazonas, the aforementioned changes, combined with other factors, also had an impact on crime. In this sense, the general objective of the article was to verify the incidence of the crime of intentional homicide during the quarantine resulting from COVID-19 in the city of Manaus, in the months of April and May 2020, compared to the same period in 2019. the approach on violence was carried out, from the perspective of the main authors of sociology, the examination of the crime of intentional homicide in the light of the current legislation and the explanation about the disease and the measures adopted by the state government during the pandemic, as well as the comparative analysis of the incidence of intentional homicides in the city in question during the mentioned period, regarding the variables of sex, age and means used. Thus, as for the methodology, the research was of the quantitative type, as for the approach technique; descriptive, with regard to the purposes of the research; and, bibliographic and documentary, about the media, with data from the Executive Assistant Secretary of Intelligence (SEAI), presenting as base authors Arendt (1973), Bourdieu (1989; 1997), Bourdieu e Passeron (1992), Elias (1994),), Zaluar (1999), Lima, Misse e Miranda (2000), Barreira e Adorno (2010), Misse (2016), Wieviorka (2016) and Muniz, Caruso e Freitas (2018), Santos (2015). In the end, it was found that the measures adopted during the quarantine, especially regarding social detachment, positively affected crime and reduced the incidence of crimes of intentional homicides in the city of Manaus in the analyzed period, mainly in April 2020.
