Abstract

We show that both $\mathfrak{ap=c}$ and $\diamondsuit(\mathfrak{b})$ imply the existence of MAD families with pseudocompact Vietoris hyperspace, substantially expanding the list of models where their existence is known. We also discuss some properties on the structure of fin-intersecting MAD families by providing some new examples of non-fin-intersecting MAD families with special properties. We show that the Baire number of $\omega^*$ is strictly larger than $\mathfrak c$ if and only if for every MAD family $\mathcal A$, $\Psi(\mathcal A)$ and its Vietoris hyperspace are $p$-pseudocompact for some free ultrafilter $p$., Comment: 16 pages. Abstract

We recall some classical results relating normality and some natural weakenings of normality in $\Psi$-spaces over almost disjoint families of branches in the Cantor tree to special sets of reals like $Q$-sets, $\lambda$-sets and $\sigma$-sets. We introduce a new class of special sets of reals which corresponds the corresponding almost disjoint family of branches being $\aleph_0$-separated. This new class fits between $\lambda$-sets and perfectly meager sets. Abstract

We explore almost-normality in Isbell-Mr\'owka spaces and some related concepts. We use forcing to provide an example of an almost-normal not normal almost disjoint family, explore the concept of semi-normality in Isbell-Mr\'owka spaces, define the concept of strongly $(\aleph_0, <\mathfrak c)$-separated almost disjoint families and prove the generic existence of completely separable strongly $(\aleph_0, <\mathfrak c)$-almost disjoint families assuming $\mathfrak s=\mathfrak c$ and $\mathfrak b=\mathfrak c$. We force a classification of all the Abelian groups of cardinality at most $2^\mathfrak c$ that admit a countably compact group with a non-trivial convergent sequence. Abstract

We show that all maximal almost disjoint families have pseudocompact Vietoris hyperspace if and only if $\mathsf{MA}_\mathfrak c (\mathcal P(\omega)/\mathrm{fin})$ holds. We further study the question whether there is a maximal almost disjoint family whose hyperspace is pseudocompact and prove that consistently such families do not exist \emph{genericaly}, by constructing a consistent example of a maximal almost disjoint family $\mathcal A$ of size less than $\mathfrak c$ whose hyperspace is not pseudocompact.

Abstract

We prove that if $p$ is a selective ultrafilter then ${\mathbb Q}^{(\kappa)}$ has a $p$-compact group topology without non-trivial convergent sequences, for each infinite cardinal $\kappa =\kappa^\omega$. In particular, this gives the first arbitrarily large examples of countably compact groups without non-trivial convergent sequences that are torsion-free.

39. Using Group Drawings Activities to Facilitate the Understanding of the Systemic Aspects of Projects

Abstract

In this article, we present our findings regarding promoting group drawing activities in order to facilitate the learning of systemic aspects of projects. We discuss the approach we used to engage the students and foster learning in our classes. We used group drawing activities in two project management undergraduate courses. The courses, which involved 41 students, took place during the second semester of 2016 in a public university in Brazil. We conducted qualitative research, using qualitative observation and focus group interviews. In order to gauge the effects of the use of this educational technique, we followed the five-phased qualitative analysis method, combined with a systems analysis of the data obtained from observation. Five recurrent themes emerged: 1) Making drawings in groups helps content retention and facilitates connections between the concepts explained by the professor; 2) Making drawings in groups promotes knowledge sharing among team members; 3) Making drawings in group fosters creativity and communication between students; 4) Drawing in groups reduces the students' boredom, makes the lecture more dynamic and interesting; 5) Drawing in groups reinforces bonds between students. Our systems analysis suggests that group drawing improves student participation in classroom activities, strengthens bonds between students, and enhances learning.

Abstract

This study attempted to identify the predictors of entrepreneurial behavior by assessing a series of variables that included teamwork skills and demographic variables, and to explore teachers' experiences with teamwork. A sample of 367 K-12 public school teachers completed the survey. The findings indicated that teamwork predicts entrepreneurial behavior. Most participants received teamwork training through their school districts. Barriers to teamwork included time constraints, individual differences, and inability to collaborate.
