Multimorbidity is a global health issue impacting the quality of life of all ages. Multimorbidity with a mental disorder is little studied and is likely to have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We used a survey of 14,007 respondents living in Brazil to investigate whether people who already had at least one chronic medical condition had more depression and anxiety symptoms during social distancing in 2020. Generalized linear models and structural equation modelling were used to estimate the effects. A 19 % and 15 % increase in depressive symptoms were found in females and males, respectively, for each unit of increase in the observed value of reported chronic disease. Older subjects presented fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety. There was a 16 % increase in anxiety symptoms in females for each unit increase in the reported chronic disease variable and a 14 % increase in males. Younger subjects were more affected by anxiety symptoms in a dose-response fashion. High income was significantly related to fewer depressive and anxiety symptoms in both males and females. Physical activity was significantly associated with fewer anxiety and depression symptoms. Objective: Multimorbidity, or the occurrence of two or more chronic conditions, is a global challenge, with implications for mortality, morbidity, disability, and life quality. Psychiatric disorders are common among the chronic diseases that affect patients with multimorbidity. It is still not well understood whether psychiatric symptoms, especially depressive symptoms, moderate the effect of multimorbidity on cognition., Methods: We used a large (n=2,681) dataset to assess whether depressive symptomatology moderates the effect of multimorbidity on cognition using structural equation modelling., Results: It was found that the more depressive symptoms and chronic conditions, the worse the cognitive performance, and the higher the educational level, the better the cognitive performance. We found a significant but weak (0.009; p = 0.04) moderating effect., Conclusion: We have provided the first estimate of the moderating effect of depression on the relation between multimorbidity and cognition, which was small. Objective: The presence of two or more chronic diseases results in worse clinical outcomes than expected by a simple combination of diseases. This synergistic effect is expected to be higher when combined with some conditions, depending on the number and severity of diseases. Multimorbidity is a relatively new term, with the first fundamental definitions appearing in 2015. Studies usually define it as the presence of at least two chronic medical illnesses. However, little is known regarding the relationship between mental disorders and other non-psychiatric chronic diseases. This review aims at investigating the association between some mental disorders and non-psychiatric diseases, and their pattern of association., Methods: We performed a systematic approach to selecting papers that studied relationships between chronic conditions that included one mental disorder from 2015 to 2021. These were processed using Covidence, including quality assessment., Results: This resulted in the inclusion of 26 papers in this study. It was found that there are strong associations between depression, psychosis, and multimorbidity, but recent studies that evaluated patterns of association of diseases (usually using clustering methods) had heterogeneous results. Quality assessment of the papers generally revealed low quality among the included studies., Conclusions: There is evidence of an association between depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychosis with multimorbidity. Here we describe MyGene2, Geno2MP, VariantMatcher, and Franklin; databases that provide variant-level information and phenotypic features to researchers, clinicians, healthcare providers and patients. Following the footsteps of the Matchmaker Exchange project that connects exome, genome, and phenotype databases at the gene level, these databases have as one goal to facilitate connection to one another using Data Connect, a standard for discovery and search of biomedical data from the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH)., (© 2022 The Authors. GeneMatcher (genematcher.org) is a tool designed to connect individuals with an interest in the same gene. Now used around the world to create collaborations and generate the evidence needed to support novel disease gene identification, GeneMatcher is a founding member of the Matchmaker Exchange (MME; matchmakerexchange.org) and strongest possible advocate for global data sharing including those in resource-limited environments. As of October 1, 2021, there are 12,531 submitters from 94 countries who have submitted 58,134 submissions with 13,498 unique genes in the database. Among these genes, 8970 (64%) have matched at least once and the total number of matches is 378,806, growing by about 10,000 per month. GeneMatcher submitters increase by 80-120 each month and submissions grow by >800 per month, while unique genes and gene matches continue to grow steadily at rate of about 80 per month. The number of genes without a match peaked at 4371 in February of 2019 and despite the increase in the number of new submissions, the number of unique genes without a match continues to slowly decline, currently standing at 4,016. The COVID-19 pandemic hit individuals with chronic conditions the hardest. It is known that anxiety symptoms are frequent in post-COVID conditions. We want to examine whether multimorbidity is associated with anxiety in post-COVID patients. We reported descriptive statistics from 389 post-COVID patients and perform a linear regression with anxiety symptoms measured using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression (HAD) scale. For each extra chronic condition, there was a mean increase of 0.11 in the HAD-anxiety score. However, there was a reduction for age and being male. Background: With the advent of whole exome (ES) and genome sequencing (GS) as tools for disease gene discovery, rare variant filtering, prioritization and data sharing have become essential components of the search for disease genes and variants potentially contributing to disease phenotypes. The computational storage, data manipulation, and bioinformatic interpretation of thousands to millions of variants identified in ES and GS, respectively, is a challenging task. To aid in that endeavor, we constructed PhenoDB, GeneMatcher and VariantMatcher., Results: PhenoDB is an accessible, freely available, web-based platform that allows users to store, share, analyze and interpret their patients' phenotypes and variants from ES/GS data. GeneMatcher is accessible to all stakeholders as a web-based tool developed to connect individuals (researchers, clinicians, health care providers and patients) around the globe with interest in the same gene(s), variant(s) or phenotype(s). Finally, VariantMatcher was developed to enable public sharing of variant-level data and phenotypic information from individuals sequenced as part of multiple disease gene discovery projects. Here we provide updates on PhenoDB and GeneMatcher applications and implementation and introduce VariantMatcher., Conclusion: Each of these tools has facilitated worldwide data sharing and data analysis and improved our ability to connect genes to phenotypic traits. Aim: This three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis observed the stress distribution on the prosthetic screws on external hexagon implant and morse taper implant with different tightening loads., Materials and Methods: For this, two different 3D models assembly were obtained from the manufacturer and transferred to finite element analysis software: External hex implant model (EHM), and Morse taper implant model (MTM), both compounds by 3.75 × 7 mm implant, abutment and abutment screw. Bolt pretension force was applied on the shaft next to the threads of the prosthetic abutment. Preload was calculated using the torque on the prosthetic screw as recommended by the manufacturer (EHM30 and MTM20) and 10 Ncm torque above the manufacturer recommendations (EHM40 and MTM30). Maximum von mises equivalent stresses were obtained on the screws., Results: Preload values results were 243.18N (EHM30), 229.71N (MTM20), 324.24N (EHM40) and 344.57N (MTM30). In EHM30, EHM40 and MTM20 models the maximum stresses were below the yield strength of the abutment screw material. However, the maximum stress in MTM30 model was higher than the reference value., Conclusion: The torque loads above the manufacturer recommendations can cause plastic deformation in the MT abutment screw threads. The screws of morse taper implant can be more sensitive to higher loads than external hexagon implant., Clinical Significance: The adequate torque can result in screw loosening, while fracture may occur if torque is excessive. Abutment screw suffers many screwing cycles in its lifetime in a way that some tightening forces are above manufacturer recommendations.
