Neste artigo, objetiva-se analisar a adesão ao Programa Aprendizagem na Idade Certa (Mais Paic) por parte dos professores do Ensino Fundamental I de três municípios do Cariri cearense, por meio dos documentos e/ou materiais norteadores. Visa-se trazer uma discussão sobre a influência de ideais neoliberais e gerenciais no programa. Estudos atuais apontam que tais influências na educação intencionam dividir as responsabilidades das políticas educacionais, isto é, propor um modelo de gestão que valoriza aspectos como eficiência, eficácia, produtividade e resultados, em detrimento de uma formação humanística e cultural. Na pesquisa, do tipo descritiva, com abordagem quantitativa, foi realizada uma fundamentação teórica bibliográfica inspirada em estudiosos marxianos. A pesquisa trouxe, como resultados: que a adesão ocorre; o documento mais utilizado é o DCRC (87,7%), e a maioria dos professores que adere ao programa são contratados. Como também tencionam lacunas para eventuais pesquisas, cujo enfoque será esclarecer o que a pesquisa quantitativa mostra.

ABSTRACT Objectives: Evaluate the prevalence of hospital mortality in older adult patients with femoral fracture undergoing surgical treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic period, and to evaluate whether COVID-19 infection, clinical, and orthopedic factors interfered with mortality. Material and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted by reviewing medical records. Patients over 60 years of age with proximal femoral fracture undergoing surgical treatment were included. Overall mortality was calculated, as well as mortality whose primary or secondary cause was COVID-19 infection, to determine if infection influenced patient mortality. Clinical and orthopedic factors that interfered with mortality were evaluated. Categorical variables were compared using the Chi-square test or Fisher’s exact test. Both unpaired t-test (parametric variables) and Mann-Whitney test (non-parametric variables) were used. The Kaplan-Meier mortality curve was constructed. Conclusion: The mortality of older adult patients with femoral fracture undergoing surgical treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic was 4.2%. Male sex, older age, and those who underwent blood transfusion had higher mortality rates. COVID-infected patients had ten times more chance of death and died twice as fast as the non-infected population. Level of Evidence II, Retrospective Study.

IntroductionSleep disorders are common in the general population, necessitating the search for new strategies to address this public health challenge. The study aims to describe the electrocorticographic and behavioral changes in sleep deprived Wistar rats exposed to varying doses of camphor, to assess its effects on sleep and its potential as a sleep-inducing drug.Materials and MethodsFor the electrocorticographic evaluation, seventy-two rats were randomly assigned to distinct groups: a control group, a sleep-deprived group, three sleep-deprived groups receiving 10, 20, and 30 mg/kg i.p. of camphor respectively, and three groups that received these doses without sleep deprivation. For the behavioral analysis, twenty-seven rats were divided into three groups, each receiving the same doses as the previous test.Results and DiscussionOur results showed that there was a decrease in the frequency of brain oscillatory patterns when camphor was administered at 10 mg/kg i.p. whereas there was a dose-dependent increase in the spectral power and distribution following the administration of 20 and 30 mg/kg i.p., with the emergence of Delta, Theta, Alpha, and Beta waves. As for the behavioral analysis, it was demonstrated that testicular relaxation, decreased motility, and light sleep induction also occurred in a dose-dependent manner. Thus, we conclude that camphor administration intensifies occipital electrocorticographic patterns in sleep-deprived rats, and its electrocorticographic and behavioral analysis could indicate a potential as a supporting agent in the insomnia treatment.

The essential oil of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) (EORO) is widely used in folk medicine and has proven therapeutic effects. Our research evaluated high doses of rosemary essential oil in 54 Wistar rats between 180 and 200 g. The study consisted of three experiments: 1) behavioral monitoring of the animals after administration of 500 mg/kg i.p.; 2) electrocorticographic records after drug administration; 3) anticonvulsant drug reaction, where phenytoin, phenobarbital, and diazepam 10 mg/kg i.p were applied. The results showed that the application of EORO presented two phases. Phase 1 was characterized by the appearance of myorelaxation and a reduction in the power of the electrocorticogram in low-frequency cerebral oscillations. Phase 2 was characterized by increased excitability, with the appearance of convulsions and the increased power of electrocorticographic recordings in cerebral oscillations up to 40 Hz. In this phase, three tracing patterns were observed. Beta oscillations were the most prevalent and were better controlled by diazepam, which demonstrates that the excitatory activity of EORO is related to the reduction of GABAergic activity.

Assessing the phenotype of cattle through human visual inspection is a very common and important practice in precision cattle breeding. This paper presents the results of a correlation analysis between scores produced by humans for Nelore cattle and a variety of measurements that can be derived from images or other instruments. It also presents a study using the k-means algorithm to generate new ways of clustering a batch of cattle using the measurements that most correlate with the animal's body weight and visual scores.

Abstract Background Surgical site infections (SSI) are the most frequent early complications of hand surgeries. However, the indications still remain uncertain for antibiotic prophylaxis in elective clean soft tissue surgeries of the hand and upper limb. Therefore, a systematic review of the literature and a meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the impact of antibiotic prophylaxis on the prevention of SSI in these types of surgeries. Methods An electronic search was performed in the following databases: MEDLINE/Pubmed, PMC/Pubmed, Web of Science/Clarivate Analytics, Embase/Elsevier, Scopus/Elsevier, BVS/Lilacs, and the Cochrane Library, with no restrictions regarding publication language or date. The primary outcome of interest was the occurrence of SSI following elective clean soft tissue surgeries of the hand and upper limb according to the administration of preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis and no antibiotic prophylaxis. Surgeries involving simultaneous bone procedures or orthopedic implants were excluded. Study selection and data extraction were conducted independently by two reviewers. RoB 2.0 and ROBINS-I are Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials and non-randomized studies of interventions. The magnitude of the intervention effect was estimated using the relative risk (RR). The meta-analysis was performed with the Review Manager and R software tools, using the Mantel–Haenszel random-effects model and a 95% confidence interval (CI). Results with p ≤ 0.05 were considered statistically significant. The quality of evidence was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Results The initial search yielded 1175 titles, from which 12 articles met the inclusion criteria for the systematic review, and 10 were included in the subsequent meta-analysis. The majority of these studies were nonrandomized intervention trials, exhibiting a moderate risk of bias. According to our review, preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis did not have a statistically significant impact on the incidence of SSI (RR = 1.13, 95% CI 0.91–1.40, p = 0.28). The overall quality of evidence for this outcome was rated as low. Moderate statistical heterogeneity was observed (I 2 = 44%), and the prespecified sensitivity analysis highlighted the consistency of the results. Conclusions While these results were consistent with the findings from individual studies included in this review, it is important to note that, given the threshold of p ≤ 0.05 for statistical significance, no definitive conclusions can be drawn from the quantitative analysis of the data obtained. Abstract Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) are millisecond transient radio events with a high energy. By identifying the origin of the burst, it is possible to measure the redshift of the host galaxy, which can be used to constrain cosmological and astrophysical parameters and test aspects of fundamental physics when combined with the dispersion measure (DM). However, some factors limit the cosmological application of FRBs: (i) the poor modelling of the fluctuations in the DM due to spatial variation in the cosmic electrons density; (ii) the fact that the fraction of baryon mass in the intergalactic medium ( $$f_{IGM}$$ f IGM ) is degenerated with some cosmological parameters; (iii) the limited knowledge about host galaxy contribution ( $$DM_{host}$$ D M host ). In this work, we investigate the impact of different redshift distribution models of FRBs to constrain the baryon fraction in the IGM and host galaxy contribution. We use a cosmological model-independent method developed in previous work Lemos (EPJC 83:138, 2023) to perform the analysis and combine simulated FRB data from Monte Carlo simulation and supernovae data. We assume four distribution models for the FRBs: gamma-ray bursts (GRB), star formation rate (SFR), uniform and equidistant (ED). Also, we consider samples with $$N = 15, 30, 100$$ N = 15 , 30 , 100 and 500 points and different values of the fluctuations of electron density in the DM, $$\delta = 0, 100, 200, 400, 230\sqrt{z}$$ δ = 0 , 100 , 200 , 400 , 230 z pc/cm $$^{3}$$ 3 . Our analysis shows that all the distribution models present consistent results within $$2\sigma $$ 2 σ for the free parameters $$f_{IGM}$$ f IGM and $$DM_{host,0}$$ D M h o s t , 0 and highlights the crucial role of DM fluctuations in obtaining more precise measurements.

The risk of infection transmission from mother to fetus depends on the pathogen. TORCH agents cause some neuroinfections, including Toxoplasmosis, rubella, Cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex 1 and 2, and others (Varicella Zoster, Parvovirus B-19, Epstein–Barr virus, and Zika virus). The consequences can be stillbirth, prematurity, uterine growth restriction, and congenital malformations. The detection of DNA/RNA from CSF by molecular methods is a marker of the involvement of congenital infection in the central nervous system. This study aimed to identify the frequency of these pathogens in CSF samples from newborns (1 to 28 days old) at a tertiary hospital, using PCR, and determine the clinical consequences. Methods: This was a prospective descriptive study involving the molecular analysis of 151 CSF samples from neonates, collected for cytological and biochemical diagnosis from 2017 to 2021. After the results and consent from the participants’ caregivers were obtained, the leftover material was sent to the University’s Virology Laboratory and submitted for DNA/RNA extraction and Nested-PCR/RT-PCR. A review of the patients’ medical records and descriptive statistics was performed. This work was approved by the Ethics Committee (CAAE: 86760218.3.0000.5404). Results: A total of 151 CSF samples were obtained, 16 of which were positive (10.6% [95% CI%: 6.18–16.63%]). Two of these were PCR-positive for HSV-1 (1.3%), four for VZV (2.6%), one for CMV (0.67%), two for Toxoplasmosis (1.3%), four for Parvovirus B-19 (2.6%), and four for Zika (2.6%). The proportion of positive PCR results was higher in the group that presented with malformations (25.0% vs. 8.4%, p = 0.040). Conclusions: The pathogens identified by PCR were mostly Zika virus, VZV, and B-19, and these were mainly found in newborns with malformations.

This paper concerns the Eurocode 3 Part 1-3 (EN 1993-1-3) methods for calculating the distortional buckling (bifurcation) load of cold-formed steel-lipped channels subjected to axial force, major and minor axis bending. More specifically, the paper presents the results of a parametric study that assesses the accuracy of the simplified method in EN 1993-1-3, which relies on direct/iterative hand calculations and an approximate mechanical model, through comparison with “exact” numerical results, obtained using semi-analytical linearized buckling analyses based on Generalized Beam Theory, which are also allowed by the code. Isoline error maps are presented for a wide range of geometric and material parameters, covering common commercial profiles and corresponding to a dataset of more than 24,000 cases. These maps make it possible to identify the parameter ranges leading to an acceptable error and, even though they strongly depend on the loading, general remarks concerning the expected error pertaining to the simplified method are drawn.

Since the significance of viral infections in children and adolescents with nephrotic syndrome (NS) is yet to be defined, this study intended to estimate the occurrence, pattern, and outcomes of some DNA viral infections in children with NS. Methods: A prospective study was conducted to determine the genome identification of the viruses Epstein-Barr (EBV), human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6 type A and type B) and 7 (HHV-7), polyomavirus (BKV), and human adenovirus (HAdV) in plasma and urine samples of pediatric patients with NS. Results: A total of 35 patients aged 1 to 18 years with NS and under immunosuppressant drugs participated in the study. Plasma and urine samples were collected at regular intervals during a median follow-up of 266 days (range 133–595), and DNA was analyzed to detect the selected DNA viruses. Eleven patients (31.4%) had active virus infections, and patterns were classified as coinfection, recurrent, and consecutive. Of these, six patients (54.5%) presented viral coinfection, six (54.5%) viral recurrence, and seven patients (63.3%) had viral consecutive infection. Ten of the eleven patients with active infection had a proteinuria relapse (91%) and eight (72.7%) were hospitalized (p = 0.0022). Active HCMV infection was the most frequent infection and was observed in six patients (54.5%), three of the eleven patients (27.2%) had suspected HCMV disease in the gastrointestinal tract, and one had HHV-7 coinfection. The frequency of other infections was: 9% for HHV-6, 45.5% for BKV, 27.3% for HHV-7, 18.2% for EBV, and 18.2% for HAdV. Conclusion: viral infections, especially HCMV, can be an important cause of morbidity and nephrotic syndrome relapse in children.

O presente artigo busca tecer relações entre o habitar, a paisagem e os povos originários, em especial os Mbyá Guarani[1] que vivem no Sul do Brasil. Buscamos relacionar os seres e elementos que compõem a paisagem e estão presentes em suas narrativas de origem e nas formas construtivas que elaboram para habitar esta paisagem, ao transformarem seus componentes em arquitetura e lugares de convívio. Utilizamos uma abordagem etnográfica que inclui observações, diálogos e percursos pelas paisagens. Publicações de autoria indígena e não-indígena são referenciais teóricos interdisciplinares que auxiliam nossas reflexões. Compreendemos que a relação dos povos indígenas com a paisagem é ancestral, vinculando-se às suas memórias, narrativas e cosmologias. As formas construtivas por meio das quais habitam a paisagem revelam afeto e sentimento de pertencimento e parentesco com os elementos que dela fazem parte. Como conclusão, percebemos que a sabedoria vivenciada dos povos indígenas com relação à paisagem, desde tempos imemoriais, oferece ensinamentos para repensarmos nossa relação com o planeta como um todo. [1] Nota sobre a grafia dos termos indígenas: as palavras em línguas indígenas não possuem plural, portanto ao nos referirmos a um povo utilizamos maiúscula no singular (ex.: os Guarani); enquanto a utilização como adjetivo é em minúscula (ex.: escola guarani). Os demais termos têm como base o Léxico Guarani, de Dooley (2013). São respeitadas as formas utilizadas pelos autores guarani e, no caso de citações de outros autores, é mantida a forma utilizada por eles.

ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the efficacy of using viscosupplementation in patients with hemophilic arthropathy (HA), on pain, limb functionality, and quality of life. Methods: A systematic review of the literature was performed following the PRISMA guidelines without limitations of language or year of publication. The search was performed on the following medical databases: PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, BVS/BIREME, Scopus, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, and PROQUEST in April 2020. The search used the following word: (hemophilia AND joint diseases) OR (haemophilic arthropathy OR hemophilic arthropathy) AND viscosupplementation. Results: The systematic review identified 127 articles, 10 of which were selected for data extraction and qualitative analysis. The 10 selected articles included 297 joints with HA in 177 hemophilic subjects. Our review showed positive results in alleviating pain and improving functional capacity, and quality of life. No major adverse effects were observed. Conclusion: There is a lack of scientific evidence regarding viscosupplementation with hyaluronic acid, but the results presented in this research suggest that it is an effective and safe therapeutic option to alleviate pain and improve functional capacity in patients with HA. Objective: To evaluate parasitemia by qPCR in patients undergoing etiological treatment and followed in a Brazilian reference center. Methods: Parasite load was quantified by qPCR in 32 participants with chronic Chagas disease who were treated with benznidazole. Serological analyses were performed before and after the treatment and parasite loads were compared prior and 12/18 months post the treatment. Results: Thirty-two participants were recruited and treated with benznidazole, and 20 were followed-up. Adverse events (AE) were observed in 22 out of 29 participants that had safety data (76%), and dermatological alterations were the most frequently observed AE. Of the 20 participants analyzed, 13 and 7 completed 12 and 18 months follow-up after the treatment, respectively. 12 Months after the final treatment, Trypanosoma cruzi was detectable in 3 patients by qPCR; 18 months after the final treatment, Trypanosoma cruzi was detectable per qPCR in 4 of the 7 participants. Thus, between 12 and 18 months, 7 participants of the 20 initial follow-up cases showed positive qPCR, indicating treatment failures. Conclusions: qPCR can be used as an alternative method for evaluating the effectiveness of the etiological treatment of CD, and can be applied to analyze early therapeutic failures. The study showed that benznidazole therapy had limited effectiveness in treating chronic CD patients, thus emphasizing the importance of conducting continued research for developing more effective therapies and diagnosis for CD.

ABSTRACT Ankle injuries are the most common musculoskeletal injuries in emergency rooms and are associated with a great social and economic impact. The need to request additional tests for ankle sprains is based on suspicion of fracture. The Ottawa Ankle Rules (OAR) establish criteria for ordering radiographs to avoid performing unnecessary examinations. Objective: To evaluate the implementation of the Ottawa Rules as a protocol for treating ankle sprains in the emergency department of a university hospital. Methods: This is a retrospective observational study, conducted over a period of three months before and three months after implementation of the protocol. Results: In the first phase, all patients complaining of ankle sprain underwent radiographs. In the second phase, after the application of the OAR, out of 85 patients evaluated, only 58 underwent complementary exams, showing a reduction of 31.8% in the request for imaging exams. There was no significant difference in fracture detection between the two groups (p=0.476). Conclusion: The OAR can be used as a tool in diagnosing ankle sprains, and their implementation reduced the request for imaging exams. Level of Evidence III, Retrospective Comparative Study.

A obesidade é uma doença crônica não transmissível, complexa e multifatorial que tem como característica principal o acúmulo excessivo de gordura, aumentando a circunferência abdominal (CA). O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar se a CA está diretamente relacionada ao aumento da pressão arterial sistólica (PAS) em policiais militares (PM). A amostra foi de 415 policiais dos sexos feminino e masculino. Através da avaliação física foram mensuradas a massa corporal (kg); estatura (m); PAS (mmHg) e CA (cm). Para análise dos dados houve a estratificação da amostra em menos ou mais que 60 meses (5 anos) de tempo de trabalho militar (TTM), utilizando-se da Correlação de Pearson para verificar a relação entre a CA e PAS, com valores apresentados por média e desvio padrão. Com TTM menor que 60 meses foram 249 policiais com idade = 29,95±4,49 anos, TTM=30,79±18,92 meses, CA = 90,68±9,59 cm e PAS 130,102±15,12 mmHg. Com TTM maior que 60 meses, foram 166 policiais com idade = 44,08±6,99 anos, TTM = 257,95±93,86 meses, CA=97,29±10,16 cm e PAS=133,97±18,40 mmHg. The objective of this study was to evaluate the importance of various yield and nutritional characteristics for the differentiation of forage cultivars using principal component analysis (PCA). Data were obtained from an experiment conducted with a complete randomized block design (RCBD) with 6 replications. Eleven cultivars of forage grasses of the species Urochloa brizantha, U. ruziziensis, Megathyrsus maximus, Cenchrus ciliaris, Andropogon gayanus and Setaria sphacelata were evaluated. For yield characteristics, PCA revealed that the first 3 components explained 82.0% of total variation between forage cultivars. Similar results were observed for nutritional characteristics with the first 3 components explaining 91.4% of total variation in leaf chemical composition and 83.8% of variation in stem chemical composition. Variables that contributed most to discrimination between forage cultivars were: number of tillers per plant; number of leaves per plant; median leaf width; stem dry matter yield; leaf:stem ratio; % dry matter, % crude protein (CP) and % neutral detergent fiber of leaves; and % CP, % ether extract and % acid detergent fiber of stems. PCA was effective in identifying the key parameters that need to be measured in evaluating grass species and allowed a reduction in the number of yield and nutritional characteristics to be assessed in experiments designed to evaluate forage cultivars. This reduced both the workload and the costs involved while still allowing valid conclusions.

O presente trabalho objetivou avaliar a produção de biomassa da Moringa oleífera Lamark, em sistema de Integração Pecuária Floresta com diferentes adubações e densidades de plantio. O delineamento experimental adotado foi em blocos inteiramente casualizados, com cinco repetições por tratamento, em esquema fatorial 3 x 3, sendo constituído com três densidades de plantio (0, 15 e 30 plantas) de Moringa e três fatores atribuídos aos tipos de adubação (biossólido, adubo químico N-P-K e sem adubação), totalizando 45 unidades amostrais. Totalizando os seguintes tratamentos: T1 – Sem moringa + sem aplicação de adubo; T2 – Sem moringa + adubo químico; T3 – Sem moringa + biossólido; T4 – Densidade 15 + sem aplicação de adubo; T5 - Densidade 15 + adubo químico; T6 - Densidade 15 + biossólido; T7 – Densidade 30 + sem aplicação de adubo; T8 – Densidade 30 + adubo químico; T9 – Densidade 30 + biossólido. O período experimental se iniciou logo após o transplante das mudas, durante 225 dias, totalizando seis avaliações de crescimento. As características avaliadas foram: altura das plantas em cm (ALT); e diâmetro de copa (DC), com auxílio de régua simples graduada em centímetros (cm). Conclui assim que a utilização de moringa na densidade 30 obteve os melhores resultados para as duas variáveis, indicando assim seu uso em maior população em sistemas de integração. As adubações não tiveram diferença significativa, demonstrando a adaptabilidade da moringa e sua síntese de nitrogênio.

A educação infantil brasileira consolidou-se, ao longo do tempo, com a atuação feminina no trato de crianças pequenas. Os homens, ao se aproximarem desse ciclo de ensino, causam estranhamento, pois as tarefas peculiares dessa etapa não são consideradas típicas do gênero masculino. Neste estudo, objetivou-se compreender como a docência masculina pode causar estranhamento na comunidade escolar. A investigação partiu da abordagem qualitativa, por meio de entrevistas com roteiro semiestruturado e análise interpretativa dos dados. Observou-se, por meio da literatura e da fala dos sujeitos, que uma das razões da ausência de homens no espaço da educação infantil é que as ações em relação ao cuidado de crianças estão atreladas à figura feminina. Destaca-se que a figura masculina, na educação infantil, causa impactos na comunidade escolar, pois sua presença é importante para que esses docentes se tornem visíveis.

A pecuária ocupa lugar de destaque na economia brasileira, principalmente a bovinocultura de corte e leite, assim o sucesso desse setor é primordial para o crescimento do país. Porém, a produtividade deste setor está intimamente ligada a qualidade das pastagens, pois essas são a principal fonte alimentar dos bovinos, e cerca da metade das pastagens brasileira encontra-se com algum grau de degradação, diminuindo assim a produtividade e rentabilidade desse setor. Devido a isso, a busca por tecnologias de recuperação de pastagens vem sendo pesquisadas, sobretudo as que diminuam os custos no processo de recuperação, procurando aumentar a produtividade e qualidade das pastagens, preservar o meio ambiente e maximizar os lucros para os produtores. Visto isso, o uso de novas fontes de adubação e a implantação de sistemas silvipastoris tem sido amplamente estudado e aplicado para recuperação dessas áreas, dentre eles podemos destacar o uso de biossólido que um adubo orgânico proveniente do tratamento de esgoto sanitário, assim como a implantação de pecuária-floresta utilizando Moringa oleífera uma planta leguminosa a qual fixa nitrogênio no solo e pode servir como fonte alimentar para os animais. Sendo assim, nesse trabalho está descrito o cenário da degradação e pastagens brasileiras e o uso de biossólido e moringa na recuperação dessas áreas.

Mapping soil fertility attributes at fine spatial resolution is crucial for site-specific management in precision agriculture. This paper evaluated the performance of mobile measurements using visible and near-infrared spectroscopy (vis–NIR) to predict and map key fertility attributes in tropical soils through local data modeling with partial least squares regression (PLS) and artificial neural network (ANN). Models were calibrated and tested in a calibration area (18-ha) with high spatial variability of soil attributes and then extrapolated in the entire field (138-ha). The models calibrated with ANN obtained superior performance for all attributes. Although ANN models obtained satisfactory predictions in the calibration area (ratio of performance to interquartile range (RPIQ) ≥ 1.7) for clay, organic matter (OM), cation exchange capacity (CEC), base saturation (V), and exchangeable (ex-) Ca, it was not repeated for some of them when extrapolated into the entire field. In conclusion, robust mappings (RPIQ = 2.49) were obtained for clay and OM, indicating that these attributes can be successfully mapped on tropical soils using mobile vis–NIR spectroscopy and local calibrations using ANN. This study highlights the need to implement an independent test to assess reliability and extrapolability of previously calibrated models, even when extrapolating the models to neighboring areas.

O desempenho produtivo das forrageiras e a relação entre características são determinantes para a escolha de cultivares e para o manejo do pastejo. Objetivou-se com esse trabalho realizar análise comparativa entre forrageiras do gênero Urochloa e determinar a associação entre variáveis produtivas, estruturais e químicas, nas condições de solo e clima do Oeste da Bahia. Para isso, foi conduzido um ensaio, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com seis repetições, sendo avaliadas as cultivares Urochloa decumbens ‘Basilisk’, Urochloa brizantha ‘Marandu’, U. brizantha ‘MG-5 Vitória’, U. brizantha ‘MG-4’, U. brizantha ‘MG13-Braúna’, Urochloa humidicola ‘Comum’ e Urochloa ruziziensis ‘Ruziziensis’. Constatou-se que a altura de planta, produção de massa seca total, comprimento de lâminas e o número de perfilhos são determinantes para a produtividade e valor nutritivo das forrageiras. A espécie U. brizantha se mostrou mais promissora quanto à quantidade e qualidade da forragem, com destaque para as cultivares Marandu e MG5-Vitória.

Objective: Evaluate the effect of radiosynovectomy of the ankle with samarium-153 and yttrium-90 in hemophilic arthropathy through the possible reduction of hemarthrosis, analyzing complications, adverse effects, and the need for complementary therapies. Methods: Radiosynovectomy of the ankle in 15 hemophilic patients was analyzed retrospectively and followed between January 2008 and December 2021. The analysis was performed through patients’ medical records and diaries to quantify hemarthrosis that occurred six months before and six months after the procedure. Clinical follow-up and evaluation of outcomes were also analyzed. Results: Eighteen radiosynovectomies of the ankle were performed in 15 patients with a mean follow-up of 124 months. ABSTRACT Objective: The plantar pressure distribution can be assessed quantitatively by computerized baropodometry such as carpet or insole. An insole-type system with wireless transmission was developed and plantar pressure results were previously validated by force platform. However, the reproducibility of the system had not been determined. Our objective was to evaluate the reliability of the results in different gait cycles, clinical characteristics and in different plantar anatomical sites. Methods: 41 healthy adults (age, 34 ± 13 years; body mass index, 25 ± 5 kg/m2; 26 [63%], male, 26 [63%] practicing physical activity) were evaluated. Baropodometer evaluations were performed in 3 walking cycles with 100 m each, and the reliability between the cycles was examined. Pressure points on the heel, first metatarsal, fifth metatarsal and total plantar pressure were analyzed and compared. Results: Moderate agreement was identified between the second and third cycles (ICC, 0.66; 95% CI, 0.14-0.83). Physical activity practitioners showed higher total plantar pressure (70.8 vs 68.2 Kpa; p = 0.04) and higher pressure in the heel (70.7 vs 68.1 Kpa; p = 0.036) in relation to sedentary ones. Objetivo: Analisar a percepção da gestão acadêmica sobre a construção curricular de um curso médico privado. Materiais e Métodos: Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, realizada com 3 gestores do curso médico de instituição privada, que responderam uma entrevista semiestruturada. Utilizou-se análise de conteúdo das entrevistas, que foram transcritas e revisadas. Resultados: A análise enfatizou o processo de organização do curso e a participação dos atores envolvidos na formação médica. O gestor destaca a estruturação do currículo aplicada na instituição, discorrendo sobre o papel da gestão acadêmica, a comunicação entre seus setores e o método de ensino, em suas características e impactos na formação acadêmica. Identificou-se a percepção dos entrevistados quanto à relação do estudante com as demandas comunitárias em saúde e com o corpo docente, reconhecendo pontos positivos e dificuldades a serem superadas na qualidade do processo ensino-aprendizagem. Considerações finais: A atuação dos gestores na construção e aplicação da estrutura curricular ancora-se na adoção de metodologia ativa para a formação médica. O método é percebido como um avanço, contribuindo para uma formação holística e contextualizada com a prática e as demandas de saúde da população. A participação dos gestores é relevante, interferindo direta ou indiretamente, na qualidade desse processo.

ABSTRACT Objective: This study aimed to identify the most used scales in the assessment of the clinical outcomes for the treatment of osteochondral lesions of the talus. Methods: We performed a systematic review of the PubMed/MEDLINE databases from September 1999 to September 2019, based on the guidelines established by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The research strategy was: osteochondral [All Fields], AND (“talus” [MeSH Terms] OR “talus” [All Fields]) AND lesion [All Fields]. Of the 364 articles found in the literature, 166 (45%) were included in the study and 198 (55%) excluded. In total, 23 clinical assessment tools were used in the studies. Results: We found 49.4% of the studies to use the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Ankle-Hindfoot Scale (AOFAS Ankle-Hindfoot Scale) and 29.5% the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Conclusion: The use of AOFAS increased in relation to VAS in the last 6 years (p = 0.046), and these two scales, either alone or combined, were the most used for studying osteochondral lesions of the talus. Objetivou-se avaliar quatro intensidades de pastejo (10, 25, 40 e 55 cm de altura de resíduo) sobre as características produtivas e comportamento ingestivo de vacas mestiças sob pastejo em Panicum maximum Jacq. ‘Mombaça’, no semiárido baiano. O delineamento utilizado no experimento foi o Inteiramente Casualizado (DIC), sendo quatro tratamentos (intensidade de pastejo) e cinco repetições (piquetes). Utilizaram-se cinco vacas mestiças (Holandês x Gir), com peso médio de 500 kg, como animais avaliadores. As avaliações do pasto foram realizadas por meio de pastejo simulado a cada 28 dias. O comportamento ingestivo foi avaliado por meio de observação visual e a temperatura da superfície de pelame foi aferida com termômetro digital após a ordenha e durante o pastejo dos animais. Verificou-se aumento linear (P < 0,05) para a massa seca total (MST), massa seca de lâminas (MSL), taxa de acúmulo de forragem (TXAF), oferta de massa seca total (OMST) e oferta de massa seca de lâminas (OMSL). O artigo busca a potencialização do papel do tutor presencial no âmbito dos cursos de educação a distância da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF). A pesquisa está centrada nas atribuições do profissional de tutoria presencial do curso de Administração Pública, comparado aos profissionais dos cursos de Licenciatura em Computação e Pedagogia. Para isto, foram aplicados instrumentos de pesquisa semiestruturada de profundidade aos coordenadores e tutores presenciais destes cursos, com o fim de obter dados sobre o desenvolvimento da tutoria, tendo em vista a mudança de perfil dos alunos e, consequentemente, do polo presencial. As análises são realizadas de acordo com os eixos norteadores, identificados pelo Desenho do curso e Mediação. Por fim, propõe-se a potencialização do trabalho dos tutores presenciais, a partir de modificações na sua atuação, aprimoramento do Projeto Político-Pedagógico do curso, bem como a construção de um manual e maiores formas de interação entre a equipe multiprofissional.

O texto em tela pretende abordar os conceitos bakhtinianos de dialogismo, polifonia e carnavalização (Bakhtin 1997, 2002, 2013, 2014) em consonância com os escritos de Geraldi (2013), Freitas (2013) e Kraemer (2013), que apontaram a aplicabilidade da arquitetura bakhtiniana no contexto escolar. Para esse fim, apresentamos a possibilidade de um trabalho dialógico com as crônicas musicais de Chico Buarque como forma de estimular a leitura crítica dos alunos e sua responsividade, subvertendo as relações hierárquicas na sala de aula, configurando um processo de carnavalização. Nesse sentido, o presente trabalho pretende constituir-se como subsídio teórico-metodológico para os professores de língua portuguesa da educação básica.

Objective: To conduct a systematic review of the literature on surgical treatment for end-stage hemophilic arthropathy of the ankle joint, describing the results for arthroplasty and arthrodesis. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review according to Cochrane (Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions version 6.1, 2020) and PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) recommendations. The primary outcome was clinical improvement in pain and function of the affected limb. Secondary outcomes included adverse effects and complications from the surgical procedures. Results: After reviewing 514 studies, 10 were included for data extraction and qualitative analysis (180 patients: 100 arthroplasties and 117 arthrodeses). Conclusions: Both methods showed low overall complication rates and effectively reduced pain and improved function, allowing a return to work, activities of daily living and, in some cases, sports. One procedure was not clearly better than the other: the choice must be based on the patient’s characteristics and clinical judgment. Na análise técnica de perícia de incêndios, o perito criminal deve considerar o que preceitua o nosso Código de Processo Penal e também as bibliografias especializadas no intuito de tentar responder o mínimo necessário almejado pela justiça. Para o bom andamento do trabalho pericial, o conhecimento de alguns conceitos básicos sobre a dispersão do fogo, a saber: convecção, radiação e condução, bem como dos fatores envolvidos na movimentação das chamas, levando-se em conta as características do ambiente, são fundamentais para a elucidação da dinâmica da ocorrência e sua satisfatória análise. O presente trabalho pretende discutir parte dos elementos técnicos para a resolução dos questionamentos levantados pela justiça na interpretação das informações em casuística de incêndios e pretende instigar os profissionais forenses na busca contínua de aperfeiçoamento para a entrega de um trabalho qualificado à sociedade civil e em auxílio à persecução penal como um todo.

Chagas disease also known as American trypanosomiasis, is caused by Trypanosoma cruzi and transmitted by triatominae-contaminated feces. It is considered a neglected tropical disease that affects 6 to 7 million people worldwide. The reactivation of Chagas disease occurs when the chronically infected hosts are not able to control T. cruzi infection, generating recurrence of the acute phase. HIV is the main immunosuppressive infection that can lead to the reactivation of chronic Chagas disease in AIDS conditions. In co-infected patients, the reactivation of Chagas disease is related to their high parasite load, high HIV viral load, and CD4 T-cell counting less than 200/mm3, which may evolve to meningoencephalitis and myocarditis. Eight T. cruzi/HIV co-infected patients under antiretroviral therapy (ART) and ten Chagas disease patients without HIV infection that attended at Study Group of Chagas Disease, Hospital de Clínicas, University of Campinas (GEdoCh/HC/UNICAMP-SP) and Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas SP (PUCC/SP) were evaluated. Tests for Chagas disease were performed, such as qPCR and T. cruzi blood culture. The patient's medical records were analyzed to verify clinical and epidemiological data, viral load, and CD4 T-cell counting since the outset of ART. For both groups, we found no statically significant differences between parasite load via blood culture and qPCR. In T. cruzi/HIV co-infected subjects, we observed a significant increase of CD4 T-cells counting and viral load decrease, which became undetectable over the years after ART. Parasites isolated from the patient's blood culture were genotyped, being the majority of them infected with TcII and one case of mixed infection (TcII and TcV/TcVI). These results were expected according to the region of origin of the patients. We suggest that the parasite load be monitored through qPCR in T.cruzi/HIV co-infected patients. We conclude that ART in people living with HIV improves infection and immunosuppression control, enabling the natural evolution of the American trypanosomiasis.

In Brazil, blood donation is regulated by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, and all States follow the same protocol for clinical and laboratory screening. Brazil is an endemic country for Chagas disease (CD), caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, and for leishmaniasis, caused by a species of Leishmania spp. Screening for leishmaniosis is not routinely performed by blood banks. Given the antigenic similarity between T. cruzi and Leishmania spp., cross-reactions in serological tests can occur, and inconclusive results for CD have been found. The objective of this study was to apply molecular techniques, e.g., nPCR, PCR, and qPCR, to clarify cases of blood donation candidates with non-negative serology for CD and to analyze the difference between the melting temperature during real-time PCR using SYBR Green. Thirty-seven cases that showed non-negative results for CD using chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) tests from blood banks in Campo Grande, MS, and Campinas, SP, were analyzed. In the serum samples, 35 samples were evaluated by ELISA, and 24.3% (9/35) showed positive results for CD. nPCR was able to detect 12 positive results in 35 samples (34.28%). qPCR for T. cruzi was quantifiable in the samples that showed a value ≥0.002 par eq/mL (parasite equivalents per milliliter), and in 35 samples, 11 (31.42%) were positive. Of all evaluated samples using the described tests (CMIA, ELISA, nPCR, and qPCR), 18 (48.6%) were positive for CD. For MCA by qPCR, the melting temperature was 82.06 °C ± 0.46 for T. cruzi and 81.9 °C ± 0.24 for Leishmania infantum. The Mann–Whitney test showed a significant value of p < 0.0001. However, the differentiation between T. cruzi and L. infantum could not be considered due to temperature overlap. For leishmaniasis, of the 35 samples with non-negative serology for CD tested by the indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT), only one sample (2.85%) was positive (1:80). The PCR for Leishmania spp. was performed on 36 blood samples from donation candidates, and all were negative. qPCR for L. infantum showed 37 negative results for the 37 analyzed samples. The data presented here show the importance of performing two different tests in CD screening at blood banks. Molecular tests should be used for confirmation, thereby improving the blood donation system.

Abstract INTRODUCTION: Herpesviruses, enteroviruses, and arboviruses are important because of their clinical relevance and ability to cause meningitis, encephalitis, meningoencephalitis, and other diseases. The clinical virology associated with diagnostic technologies can reduce the morbidity and mortality of such neurological manifestations. Here we aimed to identify the genomes of agents that cause neurological syndromes in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from patients with suspected nervous system infections admitted to the University Hospital of the University of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, in 2017-2018. METHODS: CSF samples collected from adult patients with neurological syndrome symptoms and negative CSF culture results were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR), reverse transcriptase-PCR, and real-time PCR, and their results were compared with their clinical symptoms. One CSF sample was obtained from each patient. RESULTS: Viral genomes were detected in 148/420 (35.2%) CSF samples: one of 148 (0.2%) was positive for herpes simplex virus-1; two (0.5%) for herpes simplex virus-2; eight (1.9%) for varicella-zoster virus; four (1%) for Epstein-Barr virus; one (0.2%) for cytomegalovirus; 32 (7.6%) for human herpesvirus-6; 30 (7.1%) for non-polio enterovirus; 67 (16.0%) for dengue virus, three (0.7%) for yellow fever virus, and 21 (5%) for Zika virus. CONCLUSIONS: The viral genomes were found in 35.2% of all analyzed samples, showing the high prevalence of viruses in the nervous system and the importance of using a nucleic acid amplification test to detect viral agents in CSF samples.

This research arose from the need to aggregate computer vision technology and machine learning in sheep weight control and facilitate the weighing process of animals in farms. The experiment was conducted to collect the images of the animals and their weights, and later, the annotations of the images were made, generating a mask image dataset. We selected the attribute extraction algorithms that extracted shape, size, and angles with k-curvature. With these extracted data, we used the stratified five-fold cross-validation. Also, we used eight machine learning techniques aimed at regression, and the result obtained when compared to the metric Adjusted R2was the technique called Random Forest Regressor to obtain Adjusted R20.687 (±0.09) and MAE of 3.099 (±1.52) kilograms. By performing the ANOVA test to check if it is statistically relevant using the Adjusted R2measure, we got a p-value of 0.00000807 (8.07e−06). The contribution of the work is sheep weight prediction in a non-invasive way using images. Therefore, the results achieved make it possible to measure the animal’s weight with an MAE of 3.099 kg.

Objetivou-se com o presente estudo avaliar o desempenho produtivo de fêmeas Nelore na recria, recebendo suplementação mineral proteico, e proteico energético em pastagem de Urucloa brizantha cv Marandu no período de transição águas – seca e sua implicação sobre o ganho de peso dos animais. O estudo foi realizado na fazenda Relíquia, localizada no município de Ribas do Rio Pardo – MS, Brasil, utilizando 81 dias experimentais. Foram utilizadas 60 novilhas da raça nelore, nuliparas, divididas em dois lotes de 30 animais, cada lote por piquete, em pastejo contínuo, com peso médio corporal (PC) de 304 ± 82 kg e idade de 18 meses para avaliação do ganho de peso. Os animais receberam 2 estratégias nutricionais: suplemento mineral proteico (SMP) na proporção de 72 g/animal/dia (0,02% do PV), e suplemento proteico energético (SPE) 271,6 g/animal/dia (0,08% do PV). Amostras de pasto foram coletadas a cada 20 dias nas áreas experimentais para determinação da disponibilidade de MS/ha de pasto, e para avaliação da composição químico-bromatologica. O desempenho produtivo dos animais apresentou diferença (P>0,05) no peso corporal final, ganho de peso total e ganho médio diário, para os 81 dias de experimento, sendo que o desempenho do Mineral Proteico foi superior ao Proteico Energético. A massa de forragem observada no pasto de capim Marandu durante o experimento foi de 2077,5 kg, 1305,0 kg, 800,0 kg e 597,5 kg de MS/há nos meses março, abril, maio e junho, respectivamente. O grupo de animais do tratamento com suplemento mineral proteico, apresentaram peso corporal final de 328,27 kg, ganho de peso total de 24,96kg, ganho médio diário de 0,308 kg/animal/dia e o do suplemento proteico energético de 325,27 kg, 19,48 kg, e 0,240 kg/ dia, respectivamente. A suplementação mineral proteica foi superior ao tratamento com proteico energético em relação ao peso corporal final dos animais avaliados.

O objetivo desse estudo foi à obtenção de imagens termográficas de capivaras que habitam áreas urbanas com intuito de se obter diagnósticos iniciais sem que haja contato direto com estas, não interferindo no conforto e bem-estar dos animais, além de não provocar alterações em seu comportamento diário. A câmera utilizada termográfica modelo Flir SC620 onde capturou imagens de diferentes animais tanto individuais como em grupo, sendo classificados, quando individuais, como machos e fêmeas, adultos ou filhotes e animais em grupos. Grupo analisado foi de um total de 25 animais situados no Parque das Nações Indígenas, localizado no centro urbano da cidade de Campo Grande – MS no mês de novembro de 2017. As imagens foram capturadas às 17 horas, com temperatura local de 28 °C e umidade relativa do ar em 80%. Foram analisadas áreas como, corpo e cabeça, onde foram subdividas em articulações, regiões específicas com indicações pontuais em aumento de temperatura local, olhos e boca e linhas tracejadas pelo corpo para média dos membros, corpo em região lombar e cabeça. Pela maneira como foram usados a termografia, de forma não invasiva, os níveis de estresse foram muito baixos e a redução do tempo também foi bem significante. Constatou-se que os níveis de estresse foram baixos e que os animais puderam assim mantiver seus hábitos normalmente. Os machos apresentaram um significante aumento de temperatura na região onde está localizada a glândula supranasal em relação ao resto do corpo, já nas fêmeas as regiões de maior calor foram na região ocular, igualando-se aos machos nas regiões de conduto auricular. Os filhotes apresentaram temperaturas maiores quando comparadas aos animais adultos, provavelmente por apresentarem um metabolismo maior por conta da sua maior demanda energética. Este trabalho mostra a eficiência da metodologia para diminuir o manejo com esses animais, não alterando o seu bem-estar e sua homeostasia. Com isso, verifica-se que as imagens podem nos auxiliar para identificação de patologias, número de animais em um lote, procura de animais em locais de difícil acesso e classificação de macho ou fêmea, nos auxiliando tanto em exames clínicos individuais como análises em grupo dos mesmos.

Precision agriculture (PA) stands out as an innovative way to manage production resources, increasing the efficiency and the socioeconomic and environmental sustainability of agricultural systems. In Brazil, the principles and tools of PA started to be adopted in the late 1990s. To reveal the scientific trajectory and advances in PA taken over the past 25 years in Brazil, we conducted a comprehensive and systematic literature review. After searching for available peer-reviewed literature, 442 publications were selected to compose the database. Our bibliometric review showed that the scientific PA network is growing in Brazil, with the number and quality of publications, the number of interactions among research groups, and the number of international collaborations increasing. Soil and plant management are the two main pillars of PA research (~61% of the publications). More recently, research has evolved to include other areas, such as the use of proximal sensors to monitor soil and crop development, remote sensing using images from satellites and remotely piloted aircraft systems, and the development of decision support tools. A substantial part of Brazilian PA research is marked by the evaluation and adaptation of imported technologies, a scenario that is slowly changing with the growth of well-trained human resources and advances in national industry. Based on Brazilian scientific history and remaining challenges, the key potential areas for future research are (i) the development of digitally based decision support systems, i.e., a shift of focus from on-farm data technologies towards effective, site-specific decision making based on digital data and improved analytics; (ii) on-farm precision experimentation to underpin on-farm data collection and the development of new decision tools; and (iii) novel machine learning approaches to promote the implementation of digitally based decision support systems.

Background and objectivesIt is well established that tumor-free margin is an important factor for reducing local recurrence and reoperation rates. This systematic review with meta-analysis of frozen section intraoperative margin assessment aims to evaluate the accuracy, and reoperation and survival rates, and to establish its importance in breast-conserving surgery.MethodsA thorough review was conducted in all online publication-databases for the related literature up to March 2020. MeSH terms used: "Breast Cancer", "Segmental Mastectomy" and "Frozen Section". We included the studies that evaluated accuracy of frozen section, reoperation and survival rates. To ensure quality of the included articles, the QUADAS-2 tool (adapted) was employed. The assessment of publication bias by graphical and statistical methods was performed using the funnel plot and the Egger's test. The review protocol was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42019125682).ResultsNineteen studies were deemed suitable, with a total of 6,769 cases. The reoperation rate on average was 5.9%. Sensitivity was 0.81, with a Confidence Interval of 0.79-0.83, p = 0.0000, I2 = 95.1%, and specificity was 0.97, with a Confidence Interval of 0.97-0.98, p = 0.0000, I-2 = 90.8%, for 17 studies and 5,615 cases. Accuracy was 0.98. Twelve studies described local recurrence and the highest cumulative recurrence rate in 3 years was 7.5%. The quality of the included studies based on the QUADAS-2 tool showed a low risk of bias. There is no publication bias (p = 0.32) and the funnel plot showed symmetry.ConclusionFrozen section is a reliable procedure with high accuracy, sensitivity and specificity in intraoperative margin assessment of breast-conserving surgery. Therefore, this modality of margin assessment could be useful in reducing reoperation rates.

Os objetivos da presente pesquisa foram identificar e analisar os conflitos nos jogos esportivos de futsal e handebol manifestados por estudantes. Metodologia: A pesquisa, assentada em um estudo exploratório, foi realizada em uma escola da rede pública de ensino estadual de São Paulo. As técnicas de coletas de dados envolveram diários de aula do professor, diários de campo dos alunos, narrativas produzidas pelos alunos. Os participantes foram 63 estudantes de duas turmas do 6º ano do ensino fundamental anos finais. Resultados e discussão: Os resultados apontaram que os conflitos identificados foram xingamentos, discussões desrespeitosas e agressões físicas. Tais conflitos parecem ter ganhado relevo, especificamente: nos papéis e subpapéis no jogo, na interação com companheiro/cooperação e adversário/oposição, nas regras, na rede de marca. Apesar dos conflitos identificados, a vivência destes jogos é importante para oportunizar uma diversidade de interações entre os participantes. Considerações finais: Os conflitos podem assumir um significativo espaço para mobilização de reflexões entre os professores e os estudantes, dando condições para juntos entenderem mais as estruturas e as dinâmicas dos jogos, potencializar a realização de jogos de boa qualidade, favorecer uma melhora na relação entre eles nas aulas e fora delas.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate current percutaneous foot surgery practice among Brazilian specialists. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted, surveying members of the Brazilian Foot and Ankle Society (ABTPé) by emailing electronic questionnaires in 2017 and 2019. The information requested included demographic data and the profile of their practice with relation to percutaneous foot surgery. A total of 74 participants completed the survey questionnaire in 2017 and 82 in 2019 (response rates of 15 and 14% respectively). Results: A total of 49 participants in 2017 (65.33%) and 57 in 2019 (69.51%) were performing percutaneous foot surgery. Among respondents who were not performing percutaneous foot surgery, 15 in 2017 (57.69%) and 10 in 2019 (40%) stated that they believed in the method, but had not been trained to perform it. Exclusively spinal anesthesia was used by 19 surgeons in 2017 (38.77%) and 23 in 2019 (40.35%). When correcting Hallux Valgus, 13 surgeons in 2017 (26.53%) and 3 in 2019 (5%) did not use any type of fixation. The most frequently reported complication was poor reduction in both periods, reported by 36 (73.46%) participants in 2017 and 39 (68.42%) in 2019. Conclusion: In Brazil, a lack of specific training is one factor that limits the practice of percutaneous foot surgery. The technique is used by a greater number of younger surgeons. Este artigo apresenta uma pesquisa sobre relações pessoais e espaciais urbanas, realizada por meio de uma intervenção artístico-performática de caráter temporário, em praça pública da cidade de Florianópolis, SC. A intervenção baseou-se no conceito de amabilidade urbana cunhado por Adriana Sansão Fontes, com o objetivo principal de promover relações de proximidade e intimidade entre pessoas, e entre pessoas e espaço, buscando ativar um equipamento urbano aparentemente subutilizado. A pesquisa aplicou as oito dimensões da intervenção temporária propostas por Fontes: transitória, pequena, particular, participativa, relacional, ativa, interativa e subversiva. Com o apoio bibliográfico, com a proposta de uma dinâmica preliminar à intervenção e com a consciência do que pretendíamos pesquisar, experimentamos o potencial transformador da arte relacional. Transformamos temporariamente um espaço e também saímos transformados. Esse artigo visa, portanto, apresentar uma experiência de inquietação, desestabilização, ação e transformação individual e coletiva, pessoal e espacial, e assim contribuir com os estudos acerca das intervenções artísticas temporárias.

This paper describes a new model for portfolio optimization (PO), using entropy and mutual information instead of variance and covariance as measurements of risk. We also compare the performance in and out of sample of the original Markowitz model against the proposed model and against other state of the art shrinkage methods. It was found that ME (mean-entropy) models do not always outperform their MV (mean-variance) and robust counterparts, although presenting an edge in terms of portfolio diversity measures, especially for portfolio weight entropy. It further shows that when increasing return constraints on portfolio optimization, ME models were more stable overall, showing dampened responses in cumulative returns and Sharpe indexes in comparison to MV and robust methods, but concentrated their portfolios more rapidly as they were more evenly spread initially. Finally, the results suggest that it was also shown that, depending on the market, increasing return constraints may have positive or negative impacts on the out-of-sample performance.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) can efficiently control different microbial pathogens and show the potential to be applied in clinical practice and livestock production. In this work, the aim was to isolate AMP-producing ruminal streptococci and to characterize their genetic features through whole-genome sequencing. We cultured 463 bacterial isolates from the rumen of Nelore bulls, 81 of which were phenotypically classified as being Streptococcaceae. Five isolates with broad-range activity were genome sequenced and confirmed as being Streptococcus lutetiensis. The genetic features linked to their antimicrobial activity or adaptation to the rumen environment were characterized through comparative genomics. The genome of S. lutetiensis UFV80 harbored a putative CRISPR-Cas9 system (Type IIA). Computational tools were used to discover novel biosynthetic clusters linked to the production of bacteriocins. All bacterial genomes harbored genetic clusters related to the biosynthesis of class I and class II bacteriocins. SDS-PAGE confirmed the results obtained in silico and demonstrated that the class II bacteriocins predicted in the genomes of three S. lutetiensis strains had identical molecular mass (5197 Da). These results demonstrate that ruminal bacteria of the Streptococcus bovis/equinus complex represent a promising source of novel antimicrobial peptides.

O presente trabalho analisou o papel do cooperativismo da agricultura familiar na ação de compra de matérias-primas oleaginosas para no âmbito do Selo de Combustível Social do Programa Nacional para Produção e Uso de Biocombustíveis – PNPB - no estado de Goiás. O processo emergiu no estado a partir de uma ação pública de trabalho de nivelamento de informações e mobilização da base do público. Constatou-se que as cooperativas fazem diferença significativa em aumentar poder de mercado, escala e valor adicionado para os agricultores. Destacou-se também que as organizações cooperativas, cuja natureza é econômica, vão além desta, se articulando com as representações sociopolíticas dos agricultores para pleitearem melhorias nas disposições dos programas, preços, pagamentos e serviços, aumentando consideravelmente o poder de barganha da agricultura familiar. Contudo, foram levantados pontos críticos de fragilidade para a sustentabilidade do Programa em relação às características socioeconômicas da agricultura familiar e a dinâmica socioespacial desta no Estado.

O artigo trata de um fragmento da pesquisa de Mestrado em desenvolvimento sobre a relação entre os atos cotidianos de um “fazer cidade”, entendidos aqui como a relação estabelecida entre corpo e espaço em ações que constroem de forma efêmera uma relação crítica com o espaço urbano. Com base no conceito de corpografia e nas investigações situacionistas da década de 60, a pesquisa cartografa a possibilidade de urbgrafias, de escrituras do corpo nas diversas qualidades espaciais: desde o espaço físico ao espaço da vivência urbana. Dentro dessas escrituras possíveis, trato inicialmente a arte como uma possibilidade de agenciamento, forma materializada do fazer cidade dentro das intenções aqui propostas. Para tal, a necessidade do entendimento do processo de produção do espaço urbano e de ações práticas que transfigurem as ideias discutidas são tratadas aqui de forma inicial.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho de dois grupamentos genéticos de novilhos F1 Angus*Nelore e Nelore em confinamento a pasto e sua viabilidade econômica. O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda São Geraldo localizado no município de Bonito - MS. Foram utilizados 94 novilhos, sendo distribuídos em blocos casualizados, totalizando dois tratamentos. Objetivou-se neste estudo avaliar o efeito de dois protocolos de suplementação proteica energética no desempenho e viabilidade econômica de bezerros nelore não castrados ao desmame a terminação a pasto. Foram utilizados 40 bovinos da raça Nelore com 8 meses de idade, peso médio 285,16±22,74 Kg, pertencentes à Fazenda Fronteira município de Porto Murtinho, Mato Grosso do Sul, avaliados entre maio de 2015 e setembro de 2016. Analise de desempenho dos animais apresentou efeito, entre os tratamentos para peso final, o ganho médio total e ganho de peso médio diário. Os bovinos suplementados com Protocolo 2 consumiram maior quantidade de matéria seca (807,57 kg) que os animais do Protocolo 1 (427,03 kg). Com este nível de consumo de matéria seca também houve aumento na quantidade de proteína bruta fornecida para o Protocolo 2 em 320,17 kg. A maior receita total observada foi Protocolo 1 (R$ 2.868,90) este resultado está associado ao peso final superior e ao rendimento de carcaça de 52,6% após o abate, embora o Protocolo 2 tenha apresentada maior rendimento de carcaça (54%). Conclui-se que A suplementação do Protocolo 1 foi mais eficiente para desempenho, no entanto a receita total foi insuficiente para pagar os custos de produção, gerando uma rentabilidade negativa devido ao gasto com suplementação no período experimental.
