Carers of Alzheimer's suffer from caregiver overload, anxiety and depression. Changes in caregiving brought about by pandemic restrictions (COVID-19) may play a role. The aim was to explore the caregiver profile and assess the influence of the pandemic on informal and formal caregivers in a Spanish sample. Sixty caregivers participated. An ad hoc questionnaire, ZBI, STAI and BDI were administered. Informal caregivers were more overloaded, anxious and depressed than professional caregivers. Both groups perceived themselves to be more sad, worried and stressed than in the pre-pandemic situation. The pandemic-generated variables associated with caregiving did not influence caregiver overload in both groups. In informal caregivers, worsening of the patient with stress and changes in perceived social support with anxiety and depression. In professional caregivers, changes in routine were associated with stress and lower depression and changes in perceived social support with higher caregiver strain. Changes in caregiving routine and changes in perceived social support were predictors of overload and emotional distress in both caregivers. Overload was not influenced by the pandemic situation. Changes in caregiving routine and lack of social support were found to be predictors of overload and emotional distress in both types of caregivers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Background: The controversy about whether psychotherapy outcome is the consequence of the techniques themselves, common factors or both is still current. The importance of common factors has been demonstrated, although it is also known that they alone are insufficient. At the present time, the contextual model grants heavy weight to the therapeutic alliance in the first sessions and seems to predict positive final results. Furthermore, monitoring sessions has demonstrated that this alliance improves. Objectives: To analyze the relationship between the therapeutic alliance and patient’s perceived improvement during the first five sessions of therapy, and find out whether the therapeutic alliance is maintained or unstable within that timeframe. Methods: Thirty-four patients at a university psychological care service who had had at least five therapy sessions participated. Of these, 70.46% were women (Mage = 24.24, SD = 6.73). The patients filled out the Outcome Rating Scale and Session Rating Scale the week before each session. Data were analyzed by the Dual STATIS method. Results: The compromise matrix explained 77.36% of the variability. The position of the vectors and the distribution of the position of the patients on the graph show that as their perception increased, therapeutic alliance remained stable. Moreover, the position of the vectors shows that the therapeutic alliance was forged in the first session and remained stable during the following sessions. Conclusion: This exploratory study demonstrated the importance of the first session in establishing the therapeutic alliance, and for it to remain stable, regardless of whether the rest of the therapeutic process has variations or changes. Novel use of the STATIS method for analyzing measurements in the first five sessions, showed that beginning the therapeutic intervention with a strong alliance, produced the favorable, lasting effects necessary for development of the intervention.

There are currently few studies that support the efficacy of the Unified Protocol (UP) for the transdiagnostic treatment of emotional disorders in university samples. The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity of the PU in a group format, in online and face-to-face modalities, in university students. The sample consisted of 35 participants who requested assistance at the Psychological Attention Service (SAP) of the University of Cadiz. The following assessment instruments were administered: NEO-FFI; STAI; CORE-OM; SCL-90-R; PANAS and BEAQ; as well as an ad hoc questionnaire. The intervention consisted of the application of 12 sessions of the PU in groups of 8-10 participants, for 90 minutes. The results showed an improvement in the emotional management of the participants. Anxiety and depressive symptoms were reduced. The subjective wellbeing and functioning of the students improved. In addition, the PU was effective as a coping strategy for experiencing negative emotions, reducing experiential avoidance. In relation to the application format, both the online and face-to-face formats proved to be effective in improving the present symptomatology. Therefore, the PU seems to show its clinical usefulness in addressing emotional disorders in this population both online and face-to-face. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOLOGICAL stress , *CAREGIVERS , *CARE of people , *DEMENTIA , *MEDICAL protocols - Abstract
Informal care of people with dementia is a source of chronic stress for caregivers. Pearlin's Multidimensional Stressor Model argues that, in addition to overload, caregivers experience a variety of cross-cutting clinical symptomatology derived from caregiving, with depression and anxiety as frequent emotional disorders. Although there are some interventions that show good results in the treatment of specific clinical problems, they are insufficient to simultaneously address the great clinical variety that befalls caregivers. Thus, it is considered necessary to explore effective treatments to intervene on the transversal basis of the emotional affectation of this group. One proposal would be the Unified Protocol for the transdiagnostic treatment of emotional disorders, designed by David Barlow, whose raison d'être lies in the treatment of the shared basis and common processes of emotional disorders. - Abstract
Introduction: The psychological and behavioral symptoms of dementia (SPCD), as well as mood alterations, re-present a set of symptoms relevant to Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Objective: To determine the influence of the music therapy program in a sample of Alzheimer’s patients on the behavioral area and mood. Methods: It consisted of a longitudinal study based on the implantation during 3 months of a music therapy program to a total of 17 participants of which 8 were men and 9 women, with ages between 67 and 90 years. The geriatric de-pression scale (GDS), BEHAVE and NPI was administered. The program consisted of 5 sessions. The first two sessions included 5 activities related to heating, session motivation, conscious body activation, perceptual development, relaxa-tion, and assessment. The third, fourth and fifth sessions also included a complementary activity, such as motivation for the session in the third session and perceptual development in the fourth and fifth sessions. The sessions were repeated three times, making a total of 15 sessions. Memory, language, praxis, recognition, SPCDs, and moods were worked on. Results: After the application of the program, significant differences were obtained in the geriatric depression scale (p=0.02). There was also an improvement in the BEHAVE and NPI means, although they did not become significant. Conclusion: It was determined that the application of the program had a positive influence on mood and that it could be beneficial in maintaining the psychological and behavioral symptoms of AD.

- Abstract
The objective of this work is to determine the prevalence of psychological and behavioral symptoms of dementia (SPCD), specifically apathy, depression and anxiety, depending on the gender and stage of the disease. The sample consisted of 33 Alzheimer’s patients, classified as mild (48.5%) and moderate (54.5%), being 15 women and 18 men. The Apadem NH scale was administered for apathy and the Goldberg Anxiety and Depression scale. The results reflect that, regarding gender, no significant differences were found for apathy, depression and anxiety. Regarding the phase of the disease, significant differences were found in apathy (F = 19.15, p = 0.000), depression (F = 5.44, p = 0.027) and anxiety (F = 4.35, p = 0.046). ). The interaction between gender and phase was not significant. We can conclude that no differences were found between men and women regarding the prevalence of apathy, depression and anxiety. A higher prevalence of apathy, depression and anxiety was found in the moderate phase of the disease. Finally, in the combination between gender associated with the mild and moderate phases, no differences were found.

- Abstract
This phenomenon is not exclusive of married couples; it appears as well in adolescent relationships, with an incidence even higher in the youth population. It is known with the English term Dating Violence. The present study, based on personality and typology theories, analyzes the possible relation between certain personality variables and the occurrence of violence in young couples. It was carried out with a sample of 100 university students, using the personality questionnaire "Cuestionario Exploratorio de Personalidad III" (CEPER-III) and the "Conflict Adolescent Dating Relationships Inventory" (CADRI), that distinguishes five types of violent behaviors. A Spearman bivariate correlation analysis was performed between antisocial and dependent personality variables and partner violence. Additionally, a general personality questionnaire based on the Big Five Model was used to study if there is any influence of a different personality variable. The results obtained allow us to conclude that actually, there is a relation between the type of personality and the appearance of violent behaviors in a relationship, in addition to conflict resolution.
