Objectives: Researchers worldwide are actively engaging in research activities to search for preventive and therapeutic interventions against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Our aim was to describe the planning of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in terms of timing related to the course of the COVID-19 epidemic and research question evaluated. Study Design and Setting: We performed a living mapping of RCTs registered in the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform. We systematically search the platform every week for all RCTs evaluating preventive interventions and treatments for COVID-19 and created a publicly available interactive mapping tool at https://covid-nma.com to visualize all trials registered. Results: By August 12, 2020, 1,568 trials for COVID-19 were registered worldwide. Overall, the median ([Q1–Q3]; range) delay between the first case recorded in each country and the first RCT registered was 47 days ([33–67]; 15–163). For the 9 countries with the highest number of trials registered, most trials were registered after the peak of the epidemic (from 100% trials in Italy to 38% in the United States). Most trials evaluated treatments (1,333 trials; 85%); only 223 (14%) evaluated preventive strategies and 12 postacute period intervention. A total of 254 trials were planned to assess different regimens of hydroxychloroquine with an expected sample size of 110,883 patients. Conclusion: This living mapping analysis showed that COVID-19 trials have relatively small sample size with certain redundancy in research questions. Most trials were registered when the first peak of the pandemic has passed.

Background Self-reported health is subjective and depends on external factors such as socioeconomic status, presence of chronic diseases and working status, among others. Aim To determine which factors influence self-reported health among older people in Chile. Material and Methods A secondary analysis of the National Socioeconomic Characterization survey done in 2015. A dichotomous response model was used classifying health status as good or bad. A logit regression model was carried out. Results The model had a good calibration and correctly classified 72 and 68% of men and women, respectively. The main factors that influenced health status self-perception were: not having health problems; having undergone a mental health interview, to receive supplemental nutrition, education, to have a productive work; and to having a social network. Conclusions There are health, cultural, economic and environmental factors that influence self-perceived health status.

The purpose of this paper is to examine whether the issues in family mediation are similar in Europe and Chile. The use of mediation in the world represents a significant progress in protecting family agreements and their autonomy. We conclude that Europe and Chile have to pay special attention to the quality control mechanisms and training of the mediators in family disputes. Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é examinar se as questões sobre a mediação de família são semelhantes na Europa e no Chile. O uso da mediação no mundo representa um progresso significativo na proteção de acordos de família e sua autonomia. Concluímos que a Europa e o Chile têm de prestar atenção especial aos mecanismos de controle de qualidade e ao treinamento dos mediadores em litígios de família.

Objective: To assess to what extent time-dependent biases (ie, immortal time bias (ITB) and time-lag bias (TLB)) occur in the latest rheumatology observational studies, describe their main mechanisms and increase the awareness on this topic.

RESUMEN El trabajo pretende sentar las bases de problematización dogmática y aplicativa sobre el maltrato estructural hacia personas mayores, tema complejo, contingente, ampliamente extendido en nuestras sociedades y que suele invisibilizarse. Al efecto, se propone una descripción crítica de las principales manifestaciones socioculturales, jurídicas y económicas del maltrato estructural. En particular, se analiza el binomio entorno-adulto mayor, el panorama normativo nacional e internacional, y su traducción económica en el mercado de trabajo y el sistema de protección social. De otra parte, atendida la complejidad del fenómeno y las peculiaridades del caso chileno, se justifica la necesidad urgente de formular un índice multidimensional que aporte a la solución del problema de visibilización y caracterización del maltrato estructural. ABSTRACT The paper aims to establish the bases of dogmatic and applicative problematization about structural maltreatment towards elderly, complex topic, contingent, widely spread in our societies and often invisible. To this end, a critical description of the main sociocultural, legal and economic manifestations of structural maltreatment is proposed. In particular, the binomial environment-elderly is analyzed, the national and international normative panorama, and its economic repercussions into the labor market and the social protection system. On the other hand, given the complexity of the phenomenon and the peculiarities of the Chilean case, the urgent need to formulate a multidimensional index that contributes to the solution of the problem of visualization and characterization of structural maltreatment is argued.
