Purpose Advanced bibliometric methods have emerged as key tools in mapping the history and trends of a discipline. This paper aims to demonstrate on applying various bibliometric methods to track a journal’s impact and review its knowledge contribution. In doing so, the authors take the case of IIMB Management Review (IMR) journal focused on management discipline, in consideration of its 10 years of publication presence. Design/methodology/approach Using bibliometric and Scopus metric methods, the authors map and analyze the productivity of IMR Journal and map its knowledge contributions. Findings The authors identify the IMR journal’s impact, its growth, the most prolific authors/affiliations, key research hotspots, cross-country collaboration and emerging trends over the past decade. Originality/value A 10-year longitudinal review helps the target group identify the main themes. It also provides key empirical insights to the journal editorial board and library managers for future planning and growth of the journal.

Aim To evaluate the ability of the DrugSorb™-AntiThrombotic Removal (ATR) haemoadsorption device utilizing porous polymer bead sorbent technology to remove three commonly used antithrombotic drugs from whole blood. Methods and results We evaluated the removal of apixaban, rivaroxaban, and ticagrelor by the DrugSorb-ATR haemoadsorption device in a benchtop clinical scale model using bovine whole blood. Blood spiked at clinically relevant concentrations of an antithrombotic agent was continuously circulated through a 300-mL DrugSorb-ATR haemoadsorption device at a flow rate of 300 mL/min. Drug concentration was monitored over 6 h to evaluate drug removal. Results were compared with a control circuit without the haemoadsorption device. Removal rates at 30, 60, 120, and 360 minutes were: apixaban: 81.5%, 96.3%, 99.3% >99.8%; rivaroxaban: 80.7%, 95.1%, 98.9%, >99.5%; ticagrelor: 62.5%; 75%, 86.6%, >95% (all P Conclusion DrugSorb-ATR efficiently removes apixaban, rivaroxaban, and ticagrelor in a clinical-scale benchtop recirculation circuit with the bulk of removal occurring in the first 60 minutes. The clinical implications of these findings are currently investigated in patients undergoing on-pump cardiothoracic surgery in two US pivotal trials (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifiers: NCT04976530 and NCT05093504).

In recent times, leading information technology (IT) multinational enterprises claim to have abandoned many traditional features of their performance management systems (PMSs), including the bell curve. However, there is no published empirical study on how employees are perceiving the change. Using an inductive approach and an employee-centric theoretical lens, we investigated employees' (n = 426) perceptions and satisfaction levels with the revamped PMS in three Indian IT services and business solutions multinational enterprises. Employees perceived the present purposes of PMS marginally more favorably than those in the past; however, the gap between the present and future aspirational perceived purposes of PMS was significantly much higher. Satisfaction levels with different dimensions of PMS and alignment of PMS with other human resource functions and leader-member exchange were only modest. Employees mentioned goal setting and continuous feedback as the most positive features of the current PMSs, and transparency, 360° feedback, and adherence to timelines—as improvement areas. The results are indicative of a positive, but the only modest trend in employee satisfaction and perceptions. We discuss the implications of the findings for the employee-centric theory and practice of PMS in the IT industry.

PurposeTo identify the characteristic features of humanistic leadership in the Tata group in India, and to explicate the key facilitating factors.Design/methodology/approachNarrative case-study inquiry via semi-structured interviews with top management leaders and middle managers, and secondary sources of information.FindingsThe top leaders of the Tata companies emphasised the following values and leadership experience: (1) Adherence to the founder's philosophy and the basic core values, (2) Leadership with Trust, (3) Community as the key purpose of the enterprise, (4) Senior leaders as mentors and role-models, (5) Abiding by the ethical code of conduct, (6) Employee-focus and (7) Tacit alignment with Indian cultural values. These resonated with the humanistic leadership tenets. Based on the literature the authors also identified that in Tata leadership, there is an amalgamation of personal values (humata, hukhta, hvarshta: good thought, word and deed) and national cultural ethos (dharma, karma and jnana: emphasis on duty-bound action and knowledge). These leadership values are conveyed and institutionalised in the organisation via strategic initiatives such as the Tata Trusts, Tata Business Excellence Model, Tata Code of Conduct. This synergy of personal values, national cultural ethos and organisational strategy makes Tata group realise the humanistic leadership objectives, while achieving business targets.Research limitations/implicationsThe thematic analysis of interview data provides a contextualised understanding of how humanistic leadership gets realised at both the individual behavioural level, as well as at the broader organisational strategic level. This provides inputs to building the theory of humanistic leadership.Practical implicationsBy unravelling the factors that facilitate the realisation of humanistic leadership in the Tata group, the authors provide an exemplar for other organisations and business leaders to draw insights from.Social implicationsHumanistic leadership, oriented towards upliftment of community and society, and not just profit maximisation, is critical to creating a more sustainable and peaceful world.Originality/valueThis is one of first studies that conceptualises the Tata leadership from the humanistic perspective. The theoretical insights are of basic and applied use.

Across the world, millions of couples get married each year. One of the strongest predictors of whether partners will remain in their relationship is their reported satisfaction. Marital satisfaction is commonly found to be a key predictor of both individual and relational well-being. Despite its importance in predicting relationship longevity, there are relatively few empirical research studies examining predictors of marital satisfaction outside of a Western context. To address this gap in the literature and complete the existing knowledge about global predictors of marital satisfaction, we used an open-access database of self-reported assessments of self-reported marital satisfaction with data from 7178 participants representing 33 di erent countries. The results showed that sex, age, religiosity, economic status, education, and cultural values were related, to various extents, to marital satisfaction across cultures. However, marriage duration, number of children, and gross domestic product (GDP) were not found to be predictors of marital satisfaction for countries represented in this sample. While 96% of the variance of marital satisfaction was attributed to individual factors, only 4% was associated with countries. Together, the results show that individual di erences have a larger influence on marital satisfaction compared to the country of origin. The present study investigates the ability of the microalgal strain Scenedesmus sp. ISTGA1 for the treatment of municipal wastewater along with biodiesel production. This strain was cultured in different concentrations of sterilized wastewater (25, 50 and 100%) with BG-11 medium for 14 days in different flasks. The physicochemical properties of wastewater were analyzed before and after algal treatment. Scenedesmus sp. ISTGA1 was able to enhance the pH (6.3 ± 0.5 to 8.3 ± 0.2) and DO (2.7 fold) of wastewater. After treatment with the algal strain ISTGA1, there was a significant removal of heavy metals and organic contaminants as analyzed by ICP-AES and GC-MS respectively. The maximum biomass and lipid production of 1.81 g/L and 452 mg/L respectively, were attained, when strain ISTGA1 was grown in 100% wastewater. A balanced mixture of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids mainly (C16 and C18) indicated an appropriate quality of biodiesel produced by the alga. The results indicated that Scenedesmus sp. ISTGA1 can be applied for phycoremediation of wastewater along with biodiesel production.

Groundwater samples via tubewells were collected from the district Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh (India). The study aimed to analyse groundwater quality and potential sources of trace metal contamination using the multivariate statistical tool, and the level of contamination by applying contamination index (Cd) and heavy metal pollution index (HPI). The groundwater was found to be enriched with Fe and contaminated with the trace and toxic elements like Al, As, B, Cu, Mn and Pb having mean values of 2786, 152, 9, 1033, 107, 199 and 15 µL respectively. Arsenic exceeded the WHO (2011) guidelines and BIS (2012) standard (10 µg/L) for 30% of the groundwater samples. For B, 46% of the samples were found having concentration higher than BIS (2012) permissible limit (1000 µg/L) and 3% to WHO (2011) guideline values (2400 µL). Lead level exceeded the BIS (2012) standard value and WHO (2011) guideline value in 46% of the samples. Multivariate analysis identified three factors responsible for data composition explaining 81% of the total variance in groundwater samples. Factor analysis (PCA and CA) allowed grouping of parameters according to the common features; Fe, Mn and Pb were associated with PC1 and controlled by the mixed origin such as geogenic sources as well as anthropogenic activities. Boron and Cu (PC2) were controlled by anthropogenic activities while As (PC3) was derived from the geogenic sources. The northern part of study area has higher Pb and Mn concentration than the southern part associated with small industrial activities. Degree of contamination and heavy metal pollution index supported the results and higher contamination was found to be in the vicinity of industrial setups. The overall quality (estimated using HPI values) of groundwater in the northern area is poor, and may cause potential health risk from the analyzed tubewells to the local population if the water is consumed for longer time.

We examine and integrate last two decades of research on euthanasia from a cultural perspective. After an exhaustive search from Scopus and Web of Science, 40 studies matching our criteria are included in the review. We qualitatively summarize the literature country-wise and use text map of co-occurring terms in the titles, keywords, and abstracts of these articles to determine the similarities and differences among sub-themes in continental clusters. Research done in Asian, European, North American, and multi-cultural studies suggests that attributes unique to each culture are instrumental in shaping public attitudes towards euthanasia. We also find that some cultures, despite the prevalence of euthanasia, are underrepresented in empirical research. This review of literature on the cultural nuances in end-of-life decisions such as euthanasia is pertinent to social scientists, healthcare professionals and social workers in any given time, but more so during such critical events as worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

In view of the wider frame of sustainability transitions in energy, it has opened up the avenues to explore resource-efficient as well as low carbon-emitting alternatives to fulfill our energy needs. The solution is sought to enhance energy production and reducing and preventing environmental pollutants from further degradation of the ecology. At present, the application of phytoremediation is explored as both a solution to decontaminate polluted environment and means to generate resource for energy production from biomass. However, the implications for growing energy crops with a phytoremediation potential is yet to be reviewed comprehensively and critically. The chapter attempts to juxtapose the implications in terms of opportunities and challenges about phytoremediation coupled energy production by reviewing the number of relevant research papers. The conclusion of the chapter would bring up inferences concerning social, economic, and environmental aspects with the application of phytoremediation using energy crops.

The importance of the sense of smell and its role can however vary inter-individually and culturally. Despite the growing body of literature on differences in olfactory performance or hedonic preferences across the globe, the aspects of a given culture as well as culturally universal individual differences affecting odor awareness in human social life remain unknown. Here, we conducted a large-scale analysis of data collected from 10 794 participants from 52 study sites from 44 countries all over the world. The aim of our research was to explore the potential individual and country-level correlates of odor awareness in the social context. The results show that the individual characteristics were more strongly related than country-level factors to self-reported odor awareness in different social contexts. A model including individual-level predictors (gender, age, material situation, education, and preferred social distance) provided a relatively good fit to the data, but adding country-level predictors (Human Development Index, population density, and average temperature) did not improve model parameters. Although there were some cross-cultural differences in social odor awareness, the main differentiating role was played by the individual differences. However, the conclusions and generalizability of previous studies on interpersonal distance preferences were limited by some important methodological and sampling issues. The objective of the present study was to compare preferred interpersonal distances across the world and to overcome the problems observed in previous studies. We present an extensive analysis of interpersonal distances over a large data set (N = 8,943 participants from 42 countries). We attempted to relate the preferred social, personal, and intimate distances observed in each country to a set of individual characteristics of the participants, and some attributes of their cultures. Our study indicates that individual characteristics (age and gender) influence interpersonal space preferences and that some variation in results can be explained by temperature in a given region. The Present study investigates the carbon sequestration potential and biodiesel production ability of a microalga isolated from a marble mining site. The microalgal isolates were grown in BG-11 medium supplemented with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) as a carbon source. The growth behavior of the isolates and rates of NaH14CO3 uptake were considered as screening parameters to determine the most capable microalgal strain. The most efficient microalga was identified as Scenedesmus sp. ISTGA1 by 18S rDNA sequencing method. The growth of the isolate was studied under different concentrations of gaseous CO2 (5–15% v/v) and NaHCO3 (10–200 mM). Results revealed that the isolate attained maximum growth at 100 mM NaHCO3 and 15% CO2. In the case of 100 mM NaHCO3, chlorophyll content, biomass production and lipid content were 9 μg/L, 1508 mg/L and 301 mg/L respectively. At 15% of CO2 these characteristics were 12.1 μg/L, 1490 mg/L and 268 mg/L respectively. Lipids were transesterified and FAMEs were analyzed via GC-MS. The FAMEs consisted of saturated (33–35.8%) and unsaturated fatty acids (54–55%) in both the cases of inorganic carbon supplementation, dominated by C16 or C18 fatty acids (>80%), which are appropriate for the production of biodiesel.

Anionic (sodium lauryl sulphate, NaLS) cationic (cetyl ammonium bromide, CTAB) and non-ionic (Tween-80) surfactants have been found to inhibit the rate of oxiadation L-proline and L-methionine by alkaline KMnO4. A first order dependence of rate of oxidation was observed with respect to MnO4 � . The order of reaction in substrate and alkali was found to be fractional nearby 0.65 and 0.55 in Aminoacid and OH � , respectively. An aggregation/association between MnO4 � and surfactant has been confirmed spectrophotometrically. A mechanism, involving kinetically inactive (MnO4 � surfactant) aggre- gate and consistent with kinetic data, has been proposed. The present investigation evaluates the potential of an endolithic cyanobacterium isolated from marble rock to utilize sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃) as carbon source for prospective recycling of CO₂ into biodiesel. Microalgae thriving on marble were cultured and subjected to increasing NaHCO₃ concentration. The most competent isolate was identified and characterized in terms of growth, lipid content and fatty acid profile. A semicontinuous mesh incubator was designed for biofilm development. Isolate ISTCY101 was identified as Leptolyngbya sp. by 16S rRNA sequencing. Leptolyngbya ISTCY101 efficiently used BG-11 (50 mM NaHCO₃) and artificial seawater medium (25 gL(-1) NaCl) with biomass productivity 78.9 and 75.74 mg L(-1)d(-1), respectively. Maximum areal biomass productivity of 2.01 gm(-2)d(-1) was recorded in the mesh incubator, with complete exclusion of centrifugation for harvesting. Lipid content varied from 16% to 21%, consisting predominantly of C16:0, C16:1, C18:0, C18:1 fatty acids (>60%) making promising feedstock for biodiesel production.

This study is an investigation on spatio-chemical, contamination sources (using multivariate statistics), and health risk assessment arising from the consumption of groundwater contaminated with trace and toxic elements in the Chhaprola Industrial Area, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. In this study 33 tubewell water samples were analyzed for 28 elements using ICP-OES. Concentration of some trace and toxic elements such as Al, As, B, Cd, Cr, Mn, Pb and U exceeded their corresponding WHO (2011) guidelines and BIS (2012) standards while the other analyzed elements remain below than those values. Background γ and β radiation levels were observed and found to be within their acceptable limits. Multivariate statistics PCA (explains 82.07 cumulative percent for total 6 of factors) and CA indicated (mixed origin) that natural and anthropogenic activities like industrial effluent and agricultural runoff are responsible for the degrading of groundwater quality in the research area. In this study area, an adult consumes 3.0 L (median value) of water therefore consuming 39, 1.94, 1461, 0.14, 11.1, 292.6, 13.6, 23.5 μg of Al, As, B, Cd, Cr, Mn, Pb and U from drinking water per day respectively. The hazard quotient (HQ) value exceeded the safe limit of 1 which for As, B, Al, Cr, Mn, Cd, Pb and U at few locations while hazard index (HI) > 5 was observed in about 30% of the samples which indicated potential health risk from these tubewells for the local population if the groundwater is consumed.

The development of any country depends entirely on the quality of researches done for betterment of the present prevailing systems and it has been proved that the countries who have failed in doing the Research and Development have lacked far behind in being able to stand up for the minimal basics. This research paper is a reflective paper and will make an attempt of presenting the current situation of researches in India .It is evident that there is a great paucity of researches in education .The researches done if at all are lacking in their originality and authenticity. Various challenges are discussed in this paper. The analysis was based on the content analysis and author’s experiences on number of issues related to the difficulties in conduction of researches in education. The findings reveal that the developmental researches are not taken up seriously and therefore there is no rigour in conduction of good quality researches in education. Various suggestions were given in order to improve the selection of appropriate area for the researches and other factors that could lead towards the improvement of quality of developmental researches.

To test the hypothesis that specifically modified plant based diet and anti-gravity exercises in Type 2 diabetics followed for a period of 10-14 weeks improves the glycemic control and reduces requirement of anti-diabetic medication. Around 386 confirmed diabetic participants enrolled in this study. Out of these 259 participants completed the study. This was a follow up study for a period of 10-14 weeks where the anthropometric measurements and biochemical parameters were measured at week 0 and at week 10-14 weeks. Medication was also monitored on a daily basis based on the blood glucose levels and change in medication was noted at the end of 10-14 weeks. After 10-14 weeks of consumption of modified plant based diet and anti-gravity exercises was accompanied by a significant reduction in anthropometric measurements like body weight (p=0.0001*), BMI (p=0.0001*), fat percentage (p=0.0003*) and visceral fat percentage (p=0.0002*). Lower anthropometric measurements was accompanied by a reduction in HbA1C (p=0.000*), fasting (p=0.038*) and postprandial (p=0.000*) blood glucose levels. A reduction in the dosage and number of participants requiring oral hypoglycemic agents (OHA) and insulin was observed due to improved glycemic index. In the diabetic study population, intervention with modified plant based diet and anti-gravity exercises was associated with an improved glycemic control and reduced requirement of anti-diabetic medications. These findings may assist in development of a standard integrated protocol for treating diabetic patients thus reducing the pre-disposition to diabetic complications thus preventing or prolonging the onset of diabetes complications.

Jatropha curcas L., a multipurpose, drought resistant, perennial plant belonging to Euphorbiaceae family has gained lot of importance for the production of biodiesel. The properties of the crop and its oil have persuaded investors, policy makers and clean development mechanism (CDM) project developers to consider Jatropha as a substitute for fossil fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, basic agronomic properties of Jatropha are not thoroughly understood and the environmental effects have not been investigated yet. Grey literature reports are very optimistic on simultaneous wasteland reclamation capability and oil yields. Studies were undertaken at Solar Energy Centre, Gurgaon, India to evaluate the plant performance under different agro-practices with special reference to irrigation scheduling, VAM and biofertilizers' applications, plant spacing, pruning trials for maximizing tree architecture and higher biomass. Parallel experiments were undertaken to understand the scope of J. curcas for intercropping practices in the under storey of dominating monoculture tree stands (Prosopis, Acacia and Neem).

We explored the possibility that persons from two cultures, Indian and American, might be similar in overall levels of motivational strength yet differ significantly in their experience and expression of achievement motivation. We anticipated that Indian, more than American, corporate professionals would incorporate not only self-based but also other-oriented concerns (e.g., for the welfare of co-workers and community members) into their experience of achievement motivation in the workplace. American and Indian corporate professionals responded to an online survey that included a novel measure tapping interpersonal concerns in achievement motivation. Despite the groups being equivalent on multiple demographic indicators and on traditional indices of both motivational strength and motivational orientation, Americans and Indians differed substantially in motivational concerns, with Indians grounding their sense of achievement motivation more strongly in concerns for extended family, co-workers and community. Implications for the study of cultural variations in personality processes are discussed.

The present investigation evaluates the potential of an endolithic cyanobacterium isolated from marble rock to utilize sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃) as carbon source for prospective recycling of CO₂ into biodiesel. Microalgae thriving on marble were cultured and subjected to increasing NaHCO₃ concentration. The most competent isolate was identified and characterized in terms of growth, lipid content and fatty acid profile. A semicontinuous mesh incubator was designed for biofilm development. Isolate ISTCY101 was identified as Leptolyngbya sp. by 16S rRNA sequencing. Leptolyngbya ISTCY101 efficiently used BG-11 (50 mM NaHCO₃) and artificial seawater medium (25 gL(-1) NaCl) with biomass productivity 78.9 and 75.74 mg L(-1)d(-1), respectively. Maximum areal biomass productivity of 2.01 gm(-2)d(-1) was recorded in the mesh incubator, with complete exclusion of centrifugation for harvesting. Lipid content varied from 16% to 21%, consisting predominantly of C16:0, C16:1, C18:0, C18:1 fatty acids (60%) making promising feedstock for biodiesel production.

Noun phrases such as “moral psychology” and the “moral domain” appear to refer to singularities. There apparently is a particular type of psychology that comes into play in a particular domain of life: the moral. And maybe there is. Yet even a quick glance at work in the field reveals multiplicities. Consider the model presented by Rest (1984; also reviewed in Bergman, 2004). The components of moral functioning that are identified encompass psychological functions that are diverse: interpreting situations, formulating courses of action, contemplating and selecting among alternative values that bear on a given circumstance, executing courses of action. If one considers also the psychological structures and processes (declarative and procedural knowledge, affective systems, cognitive appraisal processes, etc.) that may come into play as individuals execute each of these four functions (interpreting, formulating, selecting, executing), the resulting set of psychological systems is so diverse that it becomes difficult to identify systems that are not involved in moral reasoning or action. The set of relevant psychological systems only expands when one considers theoretical views in which evolved, domain-specific mechanisms that may be localizable within specific regions of the brain underpin responses to moral dilemmas and violations of moral codes (Greene, Sommerville, Nystrom, Darley, & Cohen, 2001; Haidt, 2001; Hauser, 2006). When psychologists whose primary expertise is not in moral psychology – such as the present authors – look in on the field, they are tempted to ask: “What's the difference between moral psychology and psychology in general?”
