Teaching is an essential part of the academic science system, yet it often does not appear in science evaluations, where focus lies on research output like publications, projects and funding. We see this contradiction as an imbalance between the academic community's claim to provide good teaching and to support the next generation on the one hand, and the lack of appreciation of the actual performance of good teaching on the other. Open educational resources (OER) as freely accessible teaching material have the potential to make teaching efforts measurable for academic evaluation. They allow open practices in higher education teaching to become more visible in the reward and recognition system. In our poster, we argue for a need to include aspects of teaching in academic performance measurement to give teaching a greater value within the academic community. We present a concept of scientometric indicators that captures OER-related activities by academics and discuss the potential as well as challenges that could accompany the implementation of the suggested indicators.

In academia, science is always interwoven with education. Thus, open education has to be an important component of open science. While earlier concepts of open practices emphasized the use and creation of open educational resources (OER), current models of open educational practices (OEP) aim to frame concepts of openness in learning and teaching. Researchers have been investigating the meaning of openness and its diverse interpretations with respect to aspects of open pedagogy (Wiley & Hilton III, 2018), empowerment, inclusion, and social justice (Koseoglu et al., 2020). In Germany a newer media didactical discourse proposes to enrich the debate of OER infrastructure with concepts of OEP (Bellinger & Mayrberger, 2019). Open infrastructures, services and tools are not only part of open science initiatives but as digital objects they influence the knowledge and practices of their users. Thus, they shape the way we are able to practice openness. Our research therefore draws upon current functionalities of higher education services that provide open learning and teaching resources. We asked: How might open educational practices be shaped by current functions in digital services for learning and teaching resources? To answer this question, we investigated 38 German, Austrian and Swiss higher education services providing open learning and teaching material (e.g., OER repositories, learning management systems, video platforms, publication servers). We examined the functions of those services with regard to conceptual ideas discussed on OER and OEP (Santos-Hermosa et al., 2017; Zervas et al., 2014). We identified diverse core functions of current services that we will discuss regarding the needs of users who want to adapt OEP. Infrastructures do not only allow the reuse and sharing of OER, but also convey the model of open educational resources in their media performance. It is striking that current services concentrate on the searching and finding of open educational resources, but lack the idea of open collaboration and communication between teachers and learners. Our poster contributes to how infrastructures can better support OEP and lead to a better use and acceptance of OER among scientific communities. Bildung ist eine wichtige Voraussetzung für die Teilhabe am gesellschaftlichen und sozialen Leben. Im Bildungssystem sollen einzelne Personen weder systematisch benachteiligt noch bevorteilt werden. Soziale Ungleichheiten des Bildungserwerbs lassen sich jedoch in allen Bildungsbereichen, von der frühkindlichen Bildung bis zur Weiterbildung im Erwachsenenalter, nachweisen. Die Existenz sozialer Ungleichheiten des Bildungserwerbs ist gut dokumentiert, es fehlt jedoch an systematisiertem Wissen über die Entstehungsmechanismen. Für jeden Bildungsbereich wurden separate Literaturrecherchen durchgeführt. Im Vorfeld wurde jeweils eine Suchstrategie entwickelt, die Überlegungen zu den Informationsquellen (Datenbanken), zur Auswahl und Kombination der Suchbegriffe (Suchterme) sowie zur Suchsyntax einschloss. Die einzelnen Literaturrecherchen sind in vier Bildungsbereiche vom vorschulichen bis hin zum nachschulischen Bereich gruppiert. Die Exceldateien zeigen unter anderem die Rechercheergebnisse (Literaturnachweise in standardisiertem Exportformat), Legenden (Erklärung der verwendeten Feldbezeichner) sowie die Suchsyntax. Die Nachweise aus der systematischen Literaturrecherche wurden anschließend einem zweistufigen Selektionsprozess unterzogen. Alle Literaturnachweise wurden in einem ersten Schritt (Screening I) anhand von Titel und Abstract hinsichtlich ihrer Eignung begutachtet und nicht relevante Titel ausgeschlossen. In einem zweiten Screening-Schritt (Screening II) wurde anhand des Volltextes die formale und inhaltliche Passung sowie wissenschaftliche Qualität beurteilt. Grundlage dafür war ein vorab definiertes Codeset mit entsprechend klar definierten Ausschlusskriterien zur Beurteilung der Volltexte. Die Erhebung relevanter Informationen des systematisch eingegrenzten Korpus an Publikationen erfolgte, ebenfalls kriteriengeleitet, anhand vorab definierter Codierschemata. Insgesamt wurden im GesUB-Projekt neun Codierschemata erstellt, jeweils für die Codierung qualitativer und quantitativer Zugänge in den vier Bildungsbereichen sowie eine Codierung zu Erträgen vorschulischer Bildung. Die Ausprägungen der verwendeten Codes wurden dabei möglichst konstant gehalten und nur geringfügig angepasst. Somit ist eine bildungsbereichsvergleichende Perspektive möglich. The sharing and collaborative creation of open educational resources is at the core of such practices. Digital infrastructures do not only provide environments for these kinds of practices but reflect ide-as and implications of open practices through the functionalities they offer. Those infrastructures can be seen as drivers for enabling open practices to become default. However, a common understanding of open practices has yet to be defined. New York : Association for Computing Machinery 2022, Systematic reviews are an established method to synthesize the current state of research for a specific question to make evidence-based decisions in research, politics, and practice. A key activity of a review approach is a systematic and comprehensive search strategy to find all potentially relevant literature. Although guidelines and handbooks address relevant methodological aspects and recommend strategies, the right choice of databases and information sources is unclear. Specifically in educational research, an interdisciplinary field, with no core database at hand and multiple potentially relevant sources available, investigators lack guidance for choosing the most appropriate ones. The presented study investigates the coverage in terms of scope, similarity and combination efficiency of seven multidisciplinary, discipline-specific and nationally focused databases. The evaluation is based on relevant assessed literature of two extensive recently published reviews in German educational research that serve as gold standard to evaluate the databases. Results indicate distinct variations in the databases, while also detecting databases with equal coverage. The paper contributes to guidance in choosing databases for educational review studies, while stressing that this process depends on a review's topical and geographical focus. Moreover, general implications resulting from the study refer to the relevance of database choice for review outcomes, the careful consideration of diverse search strategies beyond database search and a rigorous documentation of database inclusion and exclusion criteria. Open Educational Resources (OER) werden durch ihre offene Lizenzierung und den damit verbundenen Möglichkeiten zur Nachnutzung Potenziale zur Verbes- serung von Lern-/Lehrsituationen zugeschrieben. In unserer Mixed-Methods-Studie erheben wir die Einschätzung zum Nutzen von OER für die Lehrpraxis von Lehrenden der deutschsprachigen Informationswissenschaft. Außerdem fragen wir nach Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten eines gemeinsamen OER-Pools und den Einstellungen zu gemeinschaftlichen Erstellungsprozessen von Lern-/Lehrmaterial. Im folgenden Posterbeitrag werden erste Ergebnisse einer qualitativen Befragung ausgewählter Lehrender vorgestellt, die Basis für eine darauf aufbauende quantitative Befragung unter Lehrenden der deutschsprachigen Informationswissenschaft ist., Session 7: Information Infrastructure

Für die fünf Reviews des 2. Bandes aus der Reihe Digitalisierung in der Bildung wurden pro Bildungssektor separate Literaturrecherchen durchgeführt. Die Datenbankauswahl für die Literatursuchen aller Bildungssektoren beinhaltet die Fachdatenbanken FIS Bildung Literaturdatenbank, Education Research Complete (ERC), ERIC (Education Research Information Center), Web of Science - Social Citation Index und LearnTechLib. Die Recherche fand von Januar bis Juli 2020 statt und berücksichtigt Titel, die zwischen 2010 und dem Zeitpunkt der Literaturrecherche erschienen sind. Bei der Durchführung der Recherchen fanden sowohl Suchterme in Englisch als auch in Deutsch Verwendung. Die Suchwörter der jeweiligen Sektoren und Suchkombinationen können in den zur Verfügung gestellten Dokumenten nachvollzogen werden. Die aus der Recherche erstellten Literatursammlungen stehen als Excel-Tabellen zur Verfügung. Diese beinhalten auch die Angaben, welche Publikationen im Review verwendet wurden (Projekt/DIPF).

This paper examines the educational datasets of Open Government Portals (OGPs) in Germany. While OGPs has become an important player in making public data available, the quality and coverage are increasingly problematized. This study analyzes the quality of 28 OGPs, 18 on the city-level, seven on the state-level (the city-states of Berlin, Hamburg, and Bremen were counted as states), and three at the national level. The focus of this study is on identifying the gap in open educational data. The results show that the total number of datasets and the educational data varies very much between the portals. While the portals contain 94% ‘open’ datasets, most of the portals do not provide comprehensive usage metrics like the data download, evidence of usage in research or applications.
