El presente documento tiene por objetivo realizar una caracterización sobre la gastronomía tradicional lacustre entre los habitantes de lo que fueron, y todavía quedan, reminiscencias de la zona lacustre de la cuenca del Alto Lerma, en particular de la laguna del Chimaliapan en el Valle de Toluca. Utiliza el estudio etnográfico que explora la memoria de estos habitantes sobre el conocimiento local de su gastronomía y la importancia que tiene como patrimonio cultural. Se realizaron una serie de entrevistas abiertas y a profundidad para la caracterización de la gastronomía tradicional lacustre de esta localidad. Por último, la información obtenida permitió conocer la manera de clasificar culturalmente la gastronomía lacustre y su importancia como patrimonio cultural intangible.

IntroductionPatients with coronary artery disease (CAD) have a higher risk of developing cognitive impairment and mental health disorders compared to the general population. Physical exercise might improve their brain health. The overall goal of the HEART-BRAIN randomized controlled trial (RCT) is to investigate the effects of different types of exercise on brain health outcomes in patients with CAD, and the underlying mechanisms.MethodsThis three-arm, single-blinded RCT will include 90 patients with CAD (50–75 years). Participants will be randomized into: (1) control group—usual care (n = 30), (2) aerobic high-intensity interval training (HIIT) (n = 30), or (3) HIIT combined with resistance exercise training (n = 30). The 12-week intervention includes 3 supervised sessions (45-min each) per week for the exercise groups. Outcomes will be assessed at baseline and post-intervention. The primary outcome is to determine changes in cerebral blood flow assessed by magnetic resonance imaging. Secondary outcomes include changes in brain vascularization, cognitive measures (i.e., general cognition, executive function and episodic memory), and cardiorespiratory fitness. Additional health-related outcomes, and several potential mediators and moderators will be investigated (i.e., brain structure and function, cardiovascular and brain-based biomarkers, hemodynamics, physical function, body composition, mental health, and lifestyle behavior).ConclusionThe HEART-BRAIN RCT will provide novel insights on how exercise can impact brain health in patients with CAD and the potential mechanisms explaining the heart-brain connection, such as changes in cerebral blood flow. The results may have important clinical implications by increasing the evidence on the effectiveness of exercise-based strategies to delay cognitive decline in this high-risk population.Clinical trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov, identifier [NCT06214624].

4. Chemical Interaction between the Sr4Al6O12SO4 Ceramic Substrate and Al–Si Alloys

Samples of Sr4Al6O12SO4 are obtained through a solid-state reaction of Al2O3, SrSO4, and SrCO3. The samples are then made into 1 and 4 cm pellets by compacting them at 100MPa and sintering them at 1400 °C for 4 h. The compound is analyzed using X-ray diffraction. Static immersion and wettability tests are carried out to evaluate corrosion resistance in contact with Al–Si. Corrosion tests are conducted by immersing the samples at 800, 900, and 1000 °C for 24, 50, and 100 h, while wettability is studied at 900, 1000, and 1100 °C for 2 h. Afterwards, the samples are subject to metallographic preparation. The samples are then analyzed using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and image analysis. In general, reaction products consisting of alumina, spinel, oxides, and sulfates are found. The contact angles obtained are between 124° and 135°. It is concluded that the Sr4Al6O12SO4 ceramic substrate is resistant to corrosion by the Al–Si alloy because of the slight thickness of the reaction products found in the samples (73 μm), considering the severe conditions of the experiment: 1000 °C and 100 h of isothermal temperature. Furthermore, Sr4Al6O12SO4 is not wettable by Al–Si alloys. These results suggest that the ceramic substrate could be used in the refractory industry, possibly as an additive to commercial refractory ceramics. For future work, it is recommended to carry out the same study with the aluminum–magnesium alloy and as an additive in commercial refractory ceramics.

The microcontrollers are embedded in our way of life and are found in many devices. The ability of Very High Scale Integration (VLSI) - with almost exponential growth in recent years makes these devices every day contain functions previously unthinkable. Therefore, a grouping of these networked devices creates a very powerful system, which equipped with a standard protocol that allows interconnection to the Internet gives you a virtually unlimited range of scalability. For these reasons, this thesis studied the implementation of a network of microcontrollers, defining functions equivalent to those with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) of great scale. Based on the definition we have, we studied among others, the protocols of communications layers to reach two of the most popular implementations used in industrial environments: Rs485 and Ethernet. While the former is much older, it remains still active and has been promoted from creating compatible interfaces, due to Rs485’s high immunity to electrical noise that provides a transparent interface over fiber. The second, more modern, already have set a trend because of its ubiquity and extent of benefits.

Introducción. La investigación se enfoca en la prevalencia de nematodos fitoparásitos en el cultivo de berenjena china (Solanum melongena L.) un cultivo hortícola conocido y valioso. Es ampliamente desarrollado en regiones tropicales y subtropicales de todo el mundo (Roychowdhury y Tah, 2011), especialmente en Asia, Europa, África y América, entre los limitantes de producción de este cultivo se encuentran los nematodos fitoparásitos (Singh et al., 2021). Objetivo. Conocer la prevalencia de géneros de fitonematodos asociados al cultivo de berengena china en el valle de Culiacán, Sinaloa, México. Métodos. La metodología utilizada para la extracción de larvas de nematodos incluyó la toma de muestras de suelo infestado, seguida de un proceso de extracción mediante la técnica de tamiz-embudo, la cual se basa en la movilidad por la fuerza de gravedad de los nematodos. Posteriormente, se procedió a la identificación y cuantificación de las larvas de nematodos mediante un microscopio biológico, basándose en las características morfológicas y morfométricas de cada género. Resultados y discusión. Los géneros de nematodos fitoparásitos identificados en los cultivos de berenjena china son: Aphelenchiodes spp. (18%), Ditylenchus spp. (3%), Helicotylenchus spp. (2%), Pratylenchus spp. (53%), Rotylenchulus spp. (11%) y Trophurus spp. (13%), por lo cual se recomienda realizar futuras investigaciones de identificación de fitonematodos que ayuden a generar correctos y sostenibles métodos de control. Conclusión. El nematodo de mayor prevalencia en berenjena china es Pratylenchus spp., generando así información sobre los nematodos asociados a berengena china.

Además, la IA puede desempeñar un papel crucial en abordar los desafíos planteados por la escasez de recursos humanos calificados en este campo y el aumento de los costos asociados con esta disciplina. Este editorial examina las áreas clave donde la IA puede traer cambios sustanciales en los cuidados intensivos desde la perspectiva de los proveedores de atención médica. Nuestra intención es proporcionar una visión general de los aspectos generales en los que la IA está contribuyendo al manejo de los pacientes críticamente enfermos.

El presente artículo analiza la Estrategia de Desarrollo Rural Territorial Centroamericana (ECADERT), como herramienta de gobernanza multinivel. Para ello, se desarrollará una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura más reciente sobre el desarrollo de políticas y estrategias regionales del Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana en el sector agropecuario y rural. La investigación compila casos de éxito de la ECADERT, a través, de entrevistas a actores territoriales implicados en su desarrollo y de la sistematización de proyectos territoriales ejecutados en el marco del Fondo de apoyo a la implementación de la ECADERT. Finalmente, se analiza el impacto y los avances de las intervenciones en los territorios rurales y su vinculación con las políticas públicas nacionales de desarrollo rural territorial, para identificar las buenas prácticas de gobernanza multinivel en el SICA y cómo éstas son una herramienta para la cooperación descentralizada, como la Agencia Andaluza de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo.

9. Oscillatory droplet dissolution from competing Marangoni and gravitational flows

The dissolution or growth of a droplet in a host liquid is an important part for processes like chemical extraction, chromatography or emulsification. In this work we look at the dissolution of a pair of vertically aligned droplets immersed in water, both experimentally and with numerical simulations. The liquids used for the droplets are long chain alcohols with a low but finite solubility in water and a significantly lower density than that of the host liquid. Therefore, a solutal plume is formed above of the bottom droplet and natural convection dominates the dissolution process. We monitor the volume of the droplets and the velocity field around them over time. When the liquids of the two droplets are the same, our previously found scaling laws for the Sherwood and Reynolds numbers as functions of the Rayleigh number (Dietrich et al., 2016, J. Fluid Mech.) can be applied to the lower droplet. However, remarkably, when the liquid of the top droplet is different than that of the bottom droplet the volume as function of time becomes non-monotonic, and an oscillatory Marangoni flow at the top droplet is observed. We identify the competition between solutal Marangoni flow and density driven convection as the origin of the oscillation, and numerically model the process., Comment: 29 pages, 8 figures

El tratamiento del glaucoma se realiza mediante medicamentos tópicos y sistémicos, láser o cirugía. El control de la inflamación es fundamental para la curación después de la cirugía. Nuestro objetivo fue comparar la eficiencia del uso de dexametasona vs bromfenaco como antiinflamatorios prequirúrgicos. Se realizó un ensayo clínico controlado, aleatorizado y no ciego, se incluyeron pacientes que acudieron al servicio de oftalmología del Hospital Civil de Culiacán con glaucoma primario, de noviembre a diciembre de 2022. Mediante una tabla de aleatorización se asignaron de la siguiente manera: Grupo 1, dexametasona oftálmica 1.0 mg/ml; Grupo 2, bromfenaco oftálmico 0.9 mg/1ml; ambos una semana antes de la cirugía. Se clasificaron según la escala de Wuerzburg al día 7 y 30 postquirúrgico, para valorar la ampolla filtrante. Resultados: se incluyeron un total de 30 ojos, 15 en el grupo 1 y 15 en el grupo 2. La puntuación en el grupo 1 el día 7 postquirúrgico fue de 6.8±1.6 y en el grupo 2 fue de 7.5±2 (p=0.267). En el día 30 postquirúrgico, la puntuación fue de 6.5±2 en el grupo 1 y 7.2 ±1.7 en el grupo 2 (p=0.288). No se presentó significancia estadística entre los tratamientos, ambos son efectivos para la formación de la ampolla filtrante. DOI: https://doi.org/10.54167/tch.v18i1.1318

11. Marangoni instability triggered by selective evaporation of a binary liquid inside a Hele-Shaw cell

Interfacial stability is important for many processes involving heat and mass transfer across two immiscible phases. When this transfer takes place in the form of evaporation of a binary solution with one component being more volatile than the other, gradients in surface tension can arise. These gradients can ultimately destabilise the liquid-gas interface. In the present work, we study the evaporation of an ethanol-water solution, for which ethanol has a larger volatility. The solution is contained in a horizontal Hele-Shaw cell which is open from one end to allow for evaporation into air. A Marangoni instability is then triggered at the liquid-air interface. We study the temporal evolution of this instability by observing the effects that it has on the bulk of the liquid. More specifically, the growth of convective cells is visualized with confocal microscopy and the velocity field close to the interface is measured with micro-particle-image-velocimetry. The results of numerical simulations based on quasi 2D equations satisfactorily compare with the experimental observations, even without consideration of evaporative cooling, although this cooling can play an extra role in experiments. Furthermore, a linear stability analysis applied to a simplified version of the quasi 2D equations showed reasonably good agreement with the results from simulations at early times, when the instability has just been triggered and no coarsening has taken place. 13. Stabilization of a chaotic oscillator via a class of integral controllers under input saturation

Abstract This work presents the straightforward design of an integral controller with an anti-windup structure to prevent undesirable behavior when actuator saturation is considered, and the proposed controller improves the performance of the closed-loop dynamics of a class of nonlinear oscillators. The proposed integral controller has an adaptive control gain, which includes the absolute value of the named control error to turn off the integral action when it is saturated. Closed-loop stability analysis is performed under the Lyapunov theory framework, where it can be concluded that the system behaves in an asymptotically stable way. The proposed methodology is successfully applied to a Rikitake-type oscillator, considering a single input-single output (SISO) structure for regulation and tracking trajectory purposes. For comparison, an equivalent fixed gain integral controller is also implemented to analyze the corresponding anti-windup properties of the proposed control structure. Numerical experiments are conducted, showing the superior performance of the proposed controller.

ABSTRACT Introduction and objectives: The optimal time to perform a diagnostic coronary angiography in patients admitted due to non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTEACS) and start pretreatment with dual antiplatelet therapy is controversial. Our study aims to identify the current diagnostic and therapeutic approach, and clinical progression of patients with NSTEACS in our country. Methods: The IMPACT-TIMING-GO trial (Impact of time of intervention in patients with myocardial infarction with non-ST segment elevation. Management and outcomes) is a national, observational, prospective, and multicenter registry that will include consecutive patients from 24 Spanish centers with a clinical diagnosis of NSTEACS treated with diagnostic coronary angiography and with present unstable or causal atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. The study primary endpoint is to assess the level of compliance to clinical practice guidelines in patients admitted due to NSTEACS undergoing coronary angiography in Spain, describe the use of antithrombotic treatment prior to cardiac catheterization, and register the time elapsed until it is performed. Major adverse cardiovascular events will also be described like all-cause mortality, non-fatal myocardial infarction and non-fatal stroke, and the rate of major bleeding according to the BARC (Bleeding Academic Research Consortium) scale at 1- and 3-year follow-up. Results: This study will provide more information on the impact of different early management strategies in patients admitted with NSTEACS in Spain, and the degree of implementation of current recommendations into the routine clinical practice. It will also provide information on these patients’ baseline and clinical characteristics. Conclusions: This is the first prospective study conducted in Spain that will be reporting on the early therapeutic strategies—both pharmacological and interventional—implemented in our country in patients with NSTEACS after the publication of the 2020 European guidelines, and on the clinical short- and long-term outcomes of these patients.

RESUMEN Introducción y objetivos: El momento óptimo para la realización de un cateterismo diagnóstico en pacientes con síndrome coronario agudo sin elevación del segmento ST (SCASEST) y la necesidad de pretratamiento con doble antiagregación son motivo de controversia. Este estudio pretende conocer el abordaje diagnóstico y terapéutico actual, así como la evolución clínica de los pacientes con SCASEST en España. Métodos: El estudio IMPACT of Time of Intervention in patients with Myocardial Infarction with Non-ST seGment elevation. ManaGement and Outcomes (IMPACT-TIMING-GO) es un registro nacional observacional, prospectivo y multicéntrico, que incluirá pacientes consecutivos con diagnóstico de SCASEST tratados con coronariografía diagnóstica y que presenten enfermedad coronaria aterosclerótica inestable o causal en 24 centros españoles. El objetivo primario del estudio es conocer el grado de cumplimiento de las recomendaciones de las guías de práctica clínica en pacientes que ingresan por SCASEST tratados con coronariografía en España, describir el uso del tratamiento antitrombótico antes del cateterismo y determinar el tiempo hasta este en la práctica clínica real. Se describirán también los eventos adversos cardiovasculares mayores: mortalidad por cualquier causa, infarto no fatal e ictus no fatal, y también la incidencia de hemorragia mayor según la escala BARC (Bleeding Academic Research Consortium) durante el seguimiento a 1 y 3 años. Resultados: Este registro permitirá mejorar el conocimiento en relación con el abordaje terapéutico inicial en pacientes que ingresan por SCASEST en España. Contribuirá a conocer sus características basales y su evolución clínica, así como el grado de adherencia y cumplimiento de las recomendaciones de las que se dispone actualmente. Conclusiones: Se trata del primer estudio prospectivo realizado en España que permitirá conocer las estrategias terapéuticas iniciales, tanto farmacológicas como intervencionistas, que se realizan en nuestro país en pacientes con SCASEST tras la publicación de las guías europeas de 2020, y la evolución clínica de estos pacientes a corto y largo plazo.

El incremento de la temperatura y la modificación de los patrones de distribución de la lluvia son dos de los efectos más ampliamente documentados del cambio climático global. Los impactos que tales cambios están provocando en los procesos de producción agrícola constituyen una de las principales amenazas para la producción de alimentos, sobre todo bajo condiciones de temporal. El presente estudio pretende evidenciar los cambios que han tenido lugar en la disponibilidad de humedad para los cultivos y que son atribuibles al cambio climático en el estado de Guanajuato. El análisis consistió en estimar el periodo de crecimiento por disponibilidad de humedad (PC) a partir de las series históricas diarias de clima de 58 estaciones del Servicio Meteorológico Nacional. Las series históricas se dividieron en dos periodos: el primero de 1960 a 1979 y el segundo de 1980 a 2017. En el periodo de 1960-1979, el inicio del PC, calculado al 80 % de probabilidad acumulativa, ocurrió el día 193 (día juliano), el cual corresponde al 11 de julio; mientras que en el periodo 1980-2017 se presentó hasta el día 211, que corresponde al 30 de julio. En lo que se refiere a la duración del PC, calculada al 80 % de probabilidad de excedencia, se observa una reducción, al pasar de 110 días en el periodo 1960-1979 a solo 75 días en el periodo 1980-2017. De continuar estas tendencias, la superficie agrícola susceptible de ser cultivada bajo condiciones de temporal en el estado se reducirá drásticamente en pocos años.

The book is intended to be used in an introductory and intermediate level course on computer networks, both whitin Computer Science and Electric Engineering scopes. One of its characteristics is that the entire research software is presented in Java, but with such simplicity that a student with basic knowledge of C or C++, would not have any difficulty in the analysis of the presented examples. One of the main differences of this book with respect to those dealing with similar topics is its top-down approach. That is, the description of computer networks begins with the model application layer, descending towards the conclusion at the physical layer. This is particularly interesting because the students begins with the identification of objects that are tangible in their daily lives, such as e-mail or the WEB, and from there they move downwards to a more detailed view of the network performance supporting these applications.

Background: In the context of humanitarian logistics, efficiently evacuating people from disaster-stricken areas is a complex challenge. This study focuses on the Tula River region in Hidalgo, Mexico, exploring the evacuation and support of individuals in temporary shelters. Despite the fact that the topic has been addressed in the literature, it is necessary to have quick response methods that can be used by decision-makers to adapt and utilize existing spaces as temporary shelters, in addition to knowing how to evacuate people. Methods: Addressing this void, a methodology to minimize evacuation and aid distribution costs is introduced. Leveraging existing algorithms, particularly Integer Linear Programming, the model determines shelter activation and utilizes the Vehicle Routing Problem to assess aid delivery strategies. Results: The research identifies optimal evacuation routes from 13 affected areas to 34 shelters and analyzes aid distribution costs under various demand scenarios: original, increased, and decreased by 10%, based on the number of transport units allocated and Google Maps distances. It also evaluates the costs associated with humanitarian aid distribution under varying collection strategies, involving state and municipal governments. Conclusion: This approach provides a decision-making foundation and can be adapted for similar analyses in other communities during extreme events.

In this contribution, a class of observer-based optimal feedback control is designed. The proposed feedback control is based on the Euler–Lagrange theoretical framework, and it is motivated by the productivity intensification from the chemical reactors, which is optimally increased. A Lagrangian is computed by employing the corresponding mass balance equation of a specifically selected biochemical compound. The resulting optimal controller is coupled with a novel uncertainty estimator with bounded feedback to derive an accurate estimation of the unknown terms and functions, mostly related to the reaction rate. Via Lyapunov analysis, it was shown that the proposed observer is asymptotically stable. The estimation of the unknown terms and functions is used by the proposed controller. The proposed methodology is applied to a generic model of an enzymatic biochemical continuous reactor with complex oscillatory dynamic behavior described by mass balance equations, so, in general, the proposed controller may be applied to any continuous stirred tank bioreactor; that is, the controller is independent of the specific kinetic functions. Numerical simulations show a satisfactory performance of the proposed control strategy.

Se analiza, bajo los conceptos de la estética de la marginalidad, el mural de El Cóporo y se revisan los alcances que tuvo el proyecto en la rehabilitación física y social del espacio público de la zona. La investigación se sustenta en un acercamiento historiográfico al tema y se apoya de los recorridos en la zona del mural y de un registro fotográfico. Entre los principales hallazgos destaca que el mural ha otorgado una nueva configuración al paisaje urbano de la ciudad de Toluca, pero no logra erradicar la marginación. Se concluye que el arte modifica el paisaje urbano e integra visualmente la zona a la ciudad; no obstante, el mural remarca el territorio y avala una identidad marginal del barrio.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is often accompanied with metabolic disturbances attributed to androgen excess and obesity, but the contribution of each has not been defined, and the occurrence of metabolic disturbances is usually not investigated. Ninety-nine women with PCOS and forty-one without PCOS were evaluated. The clinical biomarkers of alterations related to glucose (glucose, insulin, and clamp-derived glucose disposal − M), liver (aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and gamma-glutamyl transferase), and endothelium (arginine, asymmetric dymethylarginine, carotid intima-media thickness, and flow-mediated dilation) metabolism were measured; participants were categorized into four groups according to their obesity (OB) and hyperandrogenemia (HA) status as follows: Healthy (no-HA, lean), HA (HA, lean), OB (no-HA, OB), and HAOB (HA, OB). Metabolic disturbances were very frequent in women with PCOS (≈70%). BMI correlated with all biomarkers, whereas free testosterone (FT) correlated with only glucose- and liver-related indicators. Although insulin sensitivity and liver enzymes were associated with FT, women with obesity showed lower M (coef = 8.56 − 0.080(FT) − 3.71(Ob); p < 0.001) and higher aspartate aminotransferase (coef = 26.27 + 0.532 (FT) + 8.08 (Ob); p = 0.015) than lean women with the same level of FT. Women with obesity showed a higher risk of metabolic disorders than lean women, independent of hyperandrogenemia. Clinicians are compelled to look for metabolic alterations in women with PCOS. Obesity should be treated in all cases, but hyperandrogenemia should also be monitored in those with glucose-or liver-related disturbances.

A detailed study of the different structural transitions of the triblock copolymer PEO27–PPO61–PEO27 (P104) in water, in the dilute and semi-dilute regions, is addressed here as a function of temperature and P104 concentration (CP104) by mean of complimentary methods: viscosimetry, densimetry, dynamic light scattering, turbidimetry, polarized microscopy, and rheometry. The hydration profile was calculated through density and sound velocity measurements. It was possible to identify the regions where monomers exist, spherical micelle formation, elongated cylindrical micelles formation, clouding points, and liquid crystalline behavior. We report a partial phase diagram including information for P104 concentrations from 1 × 10−4 to 90 wt.% and temperatures from 20 to 75 °C that will be helpful for further interaction studies with hydrophobic molecules or active principles for drug delivery.

Arsenic (As) contamination of groundwater is widespread and significantly affects drinking water, posing a threat to public health due to its classification as a human carcinogen. Arsenic (As) can be removed from contaminated water using sustainable technologies (e.g., biotechnological processes). The process of removing Arsenic from water through reactions with iron under acidic and oxidizing conditions in a fungal broth has been proposed alongside the production of bioscorodite (FeAsO4·2H2O) crystals by Trichoderma atroviride culture. This ascomycete was selected based on tests with three other fungi (Aspergillus niger, and the basidiomycetes, Postia placenta, and Phanerochaete chrysosporium) because it decreased the pH to 2.2, raised the redox potential (Eh) to 207 mV, and was the quickest to produce 0.39 µg/L of H2O2 in a modified Wunder medium. The Eh was further increased to 324.80 mV under improved fungal culture conditions, selected using a 23−1 fractional factorial design (FFD). The fungal broth was then used for bioscorodite production by adding Fe(III)/As(III) salts and scorodite seeds at 92 °C for 21 h. Scorodite seeds and bioscorodite were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Arsenic was determined in solution by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS), and a 73% reduction in the initial As concentration (0.30 g/100 mL) was observed after bioscorodite production. Bioscorodite production under appropriate fungal culture conditions could be an option for sustainable As removal from water. The production of H2O2 by the fungus resulted in the oxidation of As(III) into As(V) and acidification of the culture broth, which created the necessary conditions for the production of bioscorodite without the need for chemical acids or oxidants. This approach is environmentally friendly and cost effective, making it a promising alternative for the treatment of arsenic-contaminated water.

Phenolic compounds have a positive effect on obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases because of their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity. The prevalence of these diseases has increased in the last years in the Mexican population. Therefore, the Mexican diet must be assessed as provider of phenolic compounds. To assess this, a survey of phenolic compound intake was validated and applicated to 973 adults (798 females) between 18 and 79 years old. We compared the phenolic compound intake of 324 participants with more diseases (239 females) and 649 participants with healthier condition (559 females). The groups differed in sex, age, and scholarship. Males, older participants, and those with lower schooling reported suffering from more diseases. Regarding phenolic compound intake analyses, the participants with healthier conditions displayed a higher phenolic compound intake than the other group in all foods assessed. In addition, the regression model showed that the phenolic compounds intake of Mexican dishes, such as arroz con frijol or enchiladas, positively affected health status, suggesting that this traditional food is beneficial for the participant’s health condition. However, the weight effect of PCI was different for each disease. We conclude that, although PCI of Mexican food positively affects health conditions, this effect depends on sex, age, and participants’ diseases.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease in which genetic factors play a role in the susceptibility to develop it. Genes related to the synthesis of interferons such as TLR7 and genetics factors such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) or copies number variation (CNV) in the gene have been involved with the development of the disease. The genetic differences between the populations contribute to the complexity of LES. Mexico has a mestizo population with a genetic load of at least three origins: Amerindian, Caucasian, and African. The mestizo of Yucatán is the only group whose contribution Amerindian is mainly Mayan, geographically distant from other Mexican Amerindians. We analyzed the CNV and the frequency of SNP rs179008 of the TLR7 as genetic risk factors in developing the disease in patients from Yucatán and Central Mexico. Results show that 14% of the cases of the Yucatecan population showed significantly >2 CNV and a higher risk of developing the disease (OR: 34.364), concerning 4% of those coming from Central Mexico (OR: 10.855). T allele and the A/T and T/T risk genotypes of rs179008 were more frequent in patients of Central Mexico than in those of Yucatán (50% vs. 30%, 93% vs. 30%, 4% vs. 1%), and association with susceptibility to develop SLE was observed (OR: 1.5 vs. 0.58, 9.54 vs. 0.66, 12 vs. 0.14). Data support the genetic differences between and within Mexican mestizo populations and the role of the TLR7 in the pathogenesis of SLE.

El objetivo de este trabajo fue aislar e identificar levaduras del lactosuero del queso Paipa y evaluar su potencial probiótico (in vitro) para su uso en alimentación animal. Las cepas se aislaron en caldo extracto de levadura-glucosa-cloranfenicol, se purificaron en agar PDA y se caracterizaron molecularmente. Se aislaron 10 cepas dentro de las que se encuentran Candida kefyr, Kluyveromyces marxianus, Pichia fermentans, entre otras. Las levaduras aisladas fueron evaluadas para evidenciar su uso potencial como probióticos en alimentación animal. Se determinó la resistencia a sales biliares (0,05, 0,1, 0,15, 0,20, 0,25 y 0,30 %), la estabilidad al pH del estómago (1,5, 2,0, 2,5, 3,0, 3,5 y 4,0) y resistencia al jugo gástrico (pH 1,5, NaCl de 0,2 % y pepsina de 0,32 %). En la prueba con diferentes concentraciones de sales biliares, las mejores cepas fueron K. marxianus (30_4) y P. fermentans (28_5). En la prueba de pH, el mejor desempeño lo tuvieron P. marxianus (30_4) y Yarrowia lipolytica. Finalmente, en la prueba de jugos gástricos se destacaron C. kefyr y K. marxianus (R_1). Las cepas que presentaron buen desempeño en casi todas las pruebas fueron K. marxianus (30_4) y P. fermentans (28_5), de tal forma que estas levaduras aisladas del lactosuero de queso Paipa tienen potencial en la aplicación como probióticos en la alimentación animal.

Disease activity and accumulated damage were evaluated using the MEX-SLEDAI scale and the SLICC-ACR-DI, respectively, and its correlation with clinical and demographic variables.185 female and 15 male patients were analysed. Average accumulated damage and activity indices during follow-up were 4.63 and 1.10, respectively. The activity index was significantly lower in females compared to males (4.36 vs 7.43), and the accumulated damage did not present a difference by sex. The manifestations associated with greater activity were the mucocutaneous and articular ones, and the organs with the greatest accumulated damage were the musculoskeletal, neurological and gonadal. A relationship between the indices was found with the evolution time, remissions/reactivations, and persistent activity. Mortality was related to persistent activity due to systemic vascular complications and kidney and liver failure. The annual incidence and prevalence of SLE calculated was 2.86% and 48.43% in Yucatán Peninsula.The patients presented persistent activity, with mild to moderate reactivations, and accumulated damage more aggressive in men. The clinical activity decreases and increases the accumulated damage at a longer evolution time, with less kidney disease and greater survival, which suggests a more benign course in the population of the Yucatan Peninsula.

El temple es uno de los tratamientos térmicos más utilizados en la industria Metal-Mecánica y Metalúrgica para mejorar las propiedades mecánicas en los aceros empleando altas velocidad de enfriamiento que permiten la transformación de austenita a martensita. Sin embargo, el temple involucra diversos fenómenos acoplados físicos-térmicos-mecánicos los cuales son difícil de controlar y predecir, exponiendo la calidad de las piezas templadas cuando no se cuenta con un óptimo diseño del proceso. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo evaluar el efecto de la posición de inmersión de las piezas y de agitación del medio líquido, sobre la extracción de calor representado por las curvas de enfriamiento, lo anterior permitirá determinar con mayor exactitud el coeficiente de transferencia de calor (CTC) en piezas de un acero en forma de “C” de tipo SAE 4340. Se diseñó y construyó un sistema de enfriamiento controlando (agitación del líquido y la posición de inmersión). Los resultados obtenidos permitieron analizar la historia térmica del enfriamiento de las muestras mediante curvas de enfriamiento y se calculó el coeficiente de transferencia de calor a través de elementos finitos.

En este artículo se presenta el desarrollo de un entorno virtual de e-evaluaciones para la administración de evaluaciones y seguimiento del rendimiento académico de los estudiantes en grupos numerosos, aplicado en una prueba piloto en la unidad académica de ingeniería mecatrónica de la Universidad Politécnica de Sinaloa, México. El desarrollo del entorno virtual de e-evaluaciones consiste en el uso del framework de modelo-vista-controlador, CodeIgniter desarrollado por EllisLab, al mismo tiempo se utilizó Bootstrap un framework desarrollado dentro de la compañía Twitter con el objetivo de estandarizar las herramientas que se utilizan en el desarrollo del front-end. Los resultados obtenidos permiten observar un incremento en la interacción sincrónica y asincrónica entre docente y estudiante en un entorno virtual e-evaluaciones; por su parte de los docentes se midió y se observó un ahorro en el tiempo destinado a realizar la evaluación en grupos numerosos, se realizó la evaluación a través de una administración personalizada de cada uno de los estudiantes, por otro lado el entorno virtual hizo partícipe al estudiante de su propia evaluación y retroalimentación, la experiencia en el uso del entorno virtual dicha por los alumnos, fue positiva dado que les permitió desarrollar la evaluación de una manera interactiva en un menor tiempo. Como conclusión se obtuvo que el entorno virtual e-evaluaciones aporta elementos que promueve el seguimiento y monitoreo de los resultados de la evaluación.

Los orígenes de la investigación arqueológica en Lanzarote se pueden situar a finales del siglo XIX, pero no será sino a mediados del siglo XX cuando se realiza el primer inventario de los yacimientos arqueológicos. En los años 60 se llevan a cabo las primeras excavaciones con metodología arqueológica, inaugurándose una década más tarde el primer Museo Arqueológico y Etnográfico Insular. No se trataba de una exposición con rigor científico, pues el ánimo fue garantizar la preservación de los materiales expuestos así como posibilitar su contemplación a la ciudadanía. En la actualidad el Cabildo de Lanzarote se encuentra ejecutando el proyecto del futuro Museo Arqueológico Insular.

La fuga de corriente y sobrevoltaje son de los problemas más críticos en los sistemas eléctricos y electrónicos, los cuales están relacionados con quejas de clientes, y que se estima representan $ 1,920 millones de dólares en pérdidas anuales. En el presente trabajo se evaluaron la fuga de corriente en dispositivos electrónicos como lo son los capacitores electrolíticos con aplicaciones comerciales, y con especificaciones de 10 µm y 35 V. Dos procesos de envejecido fueron evaluados, el tradicional aplicando voltaje y temperatura, y un nuevo proceso eliminando la temperatura e incrementando el voltaje de operación. La efectividad para cada proceso se evaluó mediante equipos tradicionales de medición de corriente y voltaje. Se utilizaron herramientas estadísticas, como distribución logarítmica normal de 3 parámetros, series de tiempo y diagramas de probabilidad, con la finalidad de analizar los datos obtenidos para cada proceso. Se observó, que la fuga de corriente de ambos procesos es aceptable dentro de los límites de especificación, y para el nuevo proceso los resultados de las pruebas a largo plazo mostraron mayor efectividad

Introducción: las parasitosis intestinales siguen siendo un problema de salud pública que afectan a países en vías de desarrollo como México, ya que se encuentran entre las 20 principales causas de enfermedad, produciendo una pérdida económica importante, y afecta a individuos de todas las edades y sexo, en especial la población pediátrica. Objetivo: conocer el panorama general de los protozoos intestinales en México en un periodo de 20 años, con la finalidad de reforzar acciones tendientes a disminuir su incidencia y prevalencia. Métodos: a partir de la búsqueda bibliográfica en PUBMED, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Scielo, Google Académico y ClinicalKey se realizó un análisis retrospectivo de los protozoos intestinales en México del año 2000 al 2020; se obtuvo infromación epidemiológica y reportes clínicos con la finalidad de realizar análisis comparativo. La República Mexicana se dividió en 8 zonas geográficas. Resultados y conclusiones: se evidenció un comportamiento y enfoque epidemiológico influenciado por las carácterísticas diversas de cada zona, además de afirmar que las infecciones por protozoos intestinales siguen persistiendo considerablemente, entre ellas destacan las producidas por Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica y Blastocystis hominis. Sin embargo, existen zonas en las que no es posible interpretar los datos debido a que cuentan con información limitada. Así mismo, para el control de las parasitosis, es necesario intensificar la investigación, difusión de la información, aplicar medidas de prevención y el correcto diagnóstico dentro de la población mexicana.

A detailed study of the different structural transitions of the triblock copolymer PEO27–PPO61–PEO27 (P104) in water, in the dilute and semi-dilute regions, is addressed here as a function of temperature and P104 concentration (CP104) by mean of complimentary methods: viscosimetry, densimetry, dynamic light scattering, turbidimetry, polarized microscopy, and rheometry. The hydration profile was calculated through density and sound velocity measurements. It was possible to identify the regions where monomers exist, spherical micelle formation, elongated cylindrical micelles formation, clouding points, and liquid crystalline behavior. We report a partial phase diagram including information for P104 concentrations from 1 × 10−4 to 90 wt.% and temperatures from 20 to 75 °C that will be helpful for further interaction studies with hydrophobic molecules or active principles for drug delivery.
