University housing managers face daily physical and mental health challenges from their residentes. This study aimed to provide a national overview of the managers’ perspectives about their possibilities for promoting student well-being in university housing contexts. The research involved twelve managers of public university housing from all five regions of Brazil. The analysis of the interviews, using a descending hierarchical classification, resulted in two axes: "Favoring Life" and "Inclusion". The first axis, composed of the classes "Ambience" and "Access to Health", encompasses possibilities for action in forwarding health, culture, and leisure demands. The second axis, represented by "Integration" and "Decent Housing", brings together management initiatives to expand the residents’ participation in the university, and provide a safe and comfortable space for students. The management practices identified, if applied more widely, can consolidate housing as contexts that promote well-being and sources of support network for resident students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
