National audience; Detached breakwaters are a classical solution for beach management and protection. When they are regularly disposed along the coast, they constitute barriers to wave propagation, and attenuate wave effects on the coast by reflection and diffraction between two successive structures, thanks to a suitable choice of the size of the structures and their spacing. The area sheltered by the breakwater is often filled with sand, forming a tombolo. Porous structures are increasingly considered, presenting from an environmental point of view the advantages of promoting the development of biodiversity and maintaining a circulation of water masses for better water quality.The work presented here is dedicated to the study of a porous breakwater, consisting of a dense array of emergent vertical cylinders. Experiments about hydrodynamic were carried out in 3D in the SeaTech test basin, and compared to numerical models based on integral formulations of velocity potentials. The symmetry associated with the basin width allows to consider the study case as that of a set of regularly spaced breakwaters along the coast.Due to the porosity of the breakwater, part of the waves continues to propagate with dissipation through the structure, changing significantly the agitation conditions downwave the structure. The wave energy is more homogeneous along the coast, the diffraction, less important, being compensated by a flow through the structure. For particular wave conditions, interference may occur not only depending on the distance between two successive breakwaters, as for conventional impervious structures, but also on the porous structure, increasing the dissipation wave energy.; Les brise-lames détachés sont une solution largement utilisée pour l’aménagement et la protection des plages. Disposés régulièrement le long de la côte, ils constituent des barrières à la propagation de la houle, et atténuent son impact à la côte par réflexion et diffraction entre deux ouvrages successifs, grâce à un choix adéquat de la taille des ouvrages et de leur espacement. La zone abritée par le brise-lame est souvent comblée avec du sable, formant un tombolo. Les ouvrages poreux sont de plus en plus considérés, présentant d’un point de vue environnemental les avantages de favoriser le développement de la biodiversité et de maintenir une circulation des masses d’eaux pour une meilleure qualité de l’eau.Le travail présenté ici consiste en l’étude d’un brise-lame poreux, constitué d’un réseau dense de cylindres verticaux émergeants. Des expériences sur l’hydrodynamique ont été menées en 3D dans le bassin d’essai de SeaTech, elles sont comparées à des modèles numériques basés sur des formulations intégrales pour les potentiels des vitesses. La symétrie du système expérimental permet de considérer le cas d’étude comme celui d’un ensemble de brise-lames régulièrement espacés le long de la côte.Du fait de la porosité du brise-lame, une partie de la houle continue à se propager avec dissipation à travers la structure, modifiant significativement les conditions d’agitation à l’abri de la structure. L’énergie de la houle est plus homogène le long de la côte, la diffraction, moins importante, étant compensée par un flux à travers la structure. Pour certaines conditions de houle, des interférences peuvent apparaitre non seulement en fonction de la distance entre deux brise-lames successifs, comme pour les ouvrages imperméables classiques, mais aussi au niveau de la structure poreuse, augmentant la dissipation de l’énergie des vagues.

International audience; The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster that occurred on March 11, 2011, was caused by the T¯ohoku tsunami, whichwasitselftriggeredbythedevastating9.0Mwmomentmagnitude earthquake. This study investigates spatial and temporal changes of the suspended particulate matter (SPM) content in the North-Eastern part of Japan (Pacific Ocean) using a geostationary ocean color sensor. The Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI), which is centered on the Korean peninsula but could also observe the Japanese area, is able to acquire eight images per day, thus allowing the analysis of rapid daily changes in water mass. TheanalysisofGOCIdatashowsthatSPMconcentrationnotably increasedbothalongthecoastandwithintheBayofSenda¨ıshortly after the tsunami. Motionless patterns of SPM were observed at 2, 14, 25, and 37 km from the coast. It is shown that SPM concentrationrapidlydecreasedonemonthlater.TheSPMconcentrationdid not remain high thefollowing year, contrary to what was observed for the Sumatra Tsunami in 2004. The origin of SPM is also investigated in this study. Our analysis suggests that some of the SPM originates from the resuspension of bottom sediments due to the reflectionofthetsunamionthecoastlinethatleadstothemigration of marine particles toward the sea surface. The fate of the SPM concentration is then discussed based on the analysis of meteorological conditions, river discharge, and tsunami wave properties

Brister i exekutiva funktioner (EF) har i tidigare forskning visat sig ha en koppling till symtom på Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Studiens syfte var att undersöka relationen mellan brister i EF och lärarskattade ADHD-symtom hos förskolebarn i en icke-klinisk urvalsgrupp med en heterogen socioekonomisk bakgrund. Studien undersökte också könsskillnader i ADHD-symtom. Test av inhibition, arbetsminne och kognitiv flexibilitet analyserades för att undersöka i vilken utsträckning dessa kunde förklara ADHD-symtom. Resultaten visade att det fanns en tydlig koppling mellan brister i EF och ADHD-symtom. Brister i inhibition var av störst betydelse för att förklara variation i ADHD-symtom i denna ålder. Relationen mellan EF och ADHD-symtom var tydligare vad gäller symtom på ouppmärksamhet jämfört med symtom på hyperaktivitet/impulsivitet. Vidare uppvisade pojkarna i högre grad ADHD-symtom jämfört med flickorna. Sammantaget bidrar dessa resultat med en ökad kunskap om vilka specifika brister i EF som kan kopplas till ADHD-symtom i tidig ålder. Merparten av resultaten är i linje med tidigare forskning medan det faktum att brister i EF i högre grad förklarade symtom på ouppmärksamhet skiljer sig från denna. Resultaten från denna studie talar även för att kognitiv flexibilitet som tidigare inte undersökts så mycket bör inkluderas i liknande studier framöver. National audience; L'objet de ce travail était d'étudier l'effet de la surface spécifique sur la dissipation d'énergie à travers un milieu poreux "modèle", constitué d'un réseau dense de cylindres verticaux émergeants. Les expériences ont été menées dans un canal hydraulique à surface libre de longueur utile 10 ètres. Trois maquettes ont été réalisées à l'aide de cylindre de diamètres variables. Chacune de ces maquettes, d'une longueur maximale de 4.80m, est constituée d'un réseau régulier de cylindres de diamètre constant. Ce dispositif nous permet d'étudier, à porosité constante égale à 0.7, l'effet des variations de surface spécifique sur l'écoulement. Une première série de mesure a été réalisée pour des courants stationnaires, dans des conditions de vitesse et de hauteurs d'eau variables, une deuxième série sur la propagation de houles régulières. Les résultats en présence d'un courant stationnaire ont montré une influence très significative de la surface spécifique sur la perte de charge à travers le poreux. Cette influence se retrouve sur l'atténuation de l'onde et sur le phénomène d'interférence observé, d'autant plus faible que la structure est longue par rapport à la longueur d'onde. La longueur d'onde dans le milieu poreux est bien décrite par la porosité et le choix adéquat d'une masse ajoutée.

International audience; The purpose of this work was to study the effects of the specific surface on the energy dissipation through a "model" porous medium constituted by a network of emerging vertical cylinders. Experiments have been performed in a ten metres long hydraulic open-channel. Three porous media were used with various cylinder diameters. The porous structure models consisted in regular networks of cylinders of constant diameter. The effect of specific surface have been analysed by using three different cylinder diameters while keeping constant the porosity. Two series of experiments are presented. On one hand, measurements in stationary flow conditions, with various velocities and depths, demonstrated the significant influence of specific surface on pressure drop through the porous media. On the other hand, a second series of experiments has focused on the propagation of regular waves through the porous structures. The role played by the specific surface both on wave attenuation and interference processes was shown to be significant. The greater is the specific surface, the stronger is the damping.

International audience; In meso-tidal lagoons the coral reef barrier can be temporarily covered by water at high tide and emerged at low tide, inducing particular cross-reef dynamics. In order to understand the importance of crossreef fluxes on lagoon dynamics a field survey had been conducted on Ouano Lagoon (New Caledonia). The lagoon water dynamics were analyzed and compared to a numerical model output. The main current was found to be northward during the flood, with inward flows through the ocean passes and through the south passage and outward flows through the north passage. During the ebb, currents are usually reversed. Concerning tidally averaged fluxes, they are mainly inward at the ocean passes and southward in passages. Finally, numerical tests were performed to evaluate the impact of cross-reef fluxes on this circulation. The results of this study are, then, discussed.
