The ever increasing complexity of power systems mandates a further improvement of the numerical methods used for their simulation. In electrical grids, the phenomena are primarily determined by the local structure of the grid and the locations of sources and loads. We propose a new approach that takes advantage of this locality. It is inspired by the local methods commonly used in quantum mechanics, such as Lanczos' algorithm, but requires no specific knowledge of quantum physics. It is applied to computing the load flow or simple dynamic studies where the nodes are described by swing equations. The first set of results are for an ideal 2Dlattice grid to illustrate the method and its feature of locality. Then a contingency analysis of various realistic power systems is performed by the proposed approach. This demonstrates how much faster and more accurate it is when compared with stateof-the-art methods.

International audience; We analyze the fractal properties of the distribution power grid of the city of Grenoble. We introduce the scaling behavior as a useful tool to compare the fractal behavior of multiple systems. We conduct a geographical concordance analysis between the power grid and both the road network and built-up areas of the city of Grenoble. We analyze the fractal behavior of electrical properties of the distribution network.

International audience; Static converters generate current harmonics in grids. Numerous studies on analytical frequency modeling are preferred to carry out their harmonic modelling in the context of sizing by optimization. In particular, the systems which have several static converters, present the difficulties for analytical frequency modeling and also for the sizing of systems by optimization. The paper focuses on apply an approach using such a modeling, on the sizing by optimization of an aeronautic power channel.

Les systèmes énergétiques modernes sont en profonde mutation, l'électricité y prenant une part de plus en plus grande pour les transferts d'énergie. L'intégration est la capacité de construire ces systèmes par l'assemblage d'équipements électriques les plus divers. Pour être réussie, la démarche d'intégration doit conjuguer respect des impératifs de performance, de coût des équipements et facilité d'insertion dans le système. La robustesse est la capacité d'un équipement à fonctionner de manière nominale dans un environnement incertain. Si tous les équipements qui constituent un système sont robustes, leur intégration ne devrait pas poser de problèmes. Les normes sont au coeur du problème d'intégration. Elles définissent les dénominateurs communs aux équipements d'un système et sont là pour garantir leur intégration. Elles ont un impact déterminant sur les performances et le coût d'un système. La question se pose alors du lien entre normes et robustesse : pour obtenir un système optimal, vaut-il mieux contraindre les normes ou imposer un niveau de robustesse élevé aux équipements ? Ce problème sera ici illustré à travers le dimensionnement dynamique d'un canal de génération DC pour un réseau de bord d'avion. On s'intéressera notamment au dimensionnement dynamique des équipements du canal de génération qui conduira à la meilleure intégration et on étudiera particulièrement comment la notion de robustesse pourra faciliter cette intégration.

International audience; A new HVDC power supply network for light rail systems is presented and compared to classical distribution networks based on AC/DC controlled converters. This original supply network use an intermediate high voltage DC feeder which supplies the vehicle through simple synchronous buck converters. Nevertheless, as the number of substations can be increased to improve the line voltage control, harmonic interactions between substations may increase both. Therefore, an adapted tool of power converter filter design has to be developed for such a dynamic complex system with power electronics converters, AC and DC networks, moving vehicles and harmonic interactions. After a brief presentation of the supply network, two levels of modelling are then presented. A dynamic model is first described by using a generalized state-space averaging model of converters, which takes into account global losses in converters for switching and conduction phases. Then, ta second model is proposed to optimize the parameters of input and output filters of converters according to maximal current and voltage ripples. Finally, this methodology of sizing is applied on a simplified supply network of light rail.

International audience; This paper deals with the modeling and control of an electrical source for the future “All Electric” aircraft. It is constituted by a rotor wounded synchronous generator and a diode rectifier feeding the DC power system. Using H∞ control theory, this paper shows that usual disturbance rejection standards can not be met with such an electrical power source and new standards should be defined. Simulations on an exact nonlinear model of the power source are used for control validation.

International audience; This paper presents a half-order modelling approach applied to a saturated ferromagnetic sheet. Several analytical models are then developed and compared for 1D formulation. In order to identify parameters and valid such models, the saturated ferromagnetic sheet has been simulated using Flux® finite element simulation software.

International audience; The fractional order systems has been used successfully to model in frequency domain the development of induced currents in electric machines, especially in the dampers or massive parts of large synchronous machines. The objective of this work consists in extending the field of application of fractional order models for small signal stability studies of an electrical network.

Internationale.; International audience; Ce travail s'inscrit dans un projet plus vaste de proposer un modèle dynamique de l'ensemble générateur électrochimique et stockage alliant une description fine des composants et une description de l'architecture du système (ensemble générateur, stockage et convertisseur). L'originalité des modèles dynamiques des composants porte sur l'utilisation de dérivées non entières pour modéliser les phénomènes de diffusion. La PEMFC est représentée par un circuit équivalent dont les différents paramètres (Résistances, Capacités, Warburg) sont obtenus par identification des spectres d'impédance électrochimique. Cette démarche présente l'avantage d'avoir un nombre réduit de paramètres tout en étant valide pour un domaine de fréquence étendu, ce qui permet de simuler précisément la réponse dynamique d'une PEMFC. De plus cette construction de modèles dynamiques est modulable et basée sur des paramètres pertinents et dimensionnant. Elle permettra d'étudier différentes solutions technologiques. International audience; Vehicles of the future will store, transport and use large amounts of electrical energy. The main components of DC networks are power electronic converters. Combinations of such converters are known to be unstable in certain situations. By investigating the causes of instability and comparing current methods, a state space representation is chosen for converter modelling. The concepts of sensitivity and participation factors applied to network models are proposed to address the requirement for algorithms aimed at optimisation. Conclusions are drawn for converters under development for aircraft systems. It is possible to identify parameters responsible for instability, sensitivity to network parameters at different operating points and the safety margins available. Thanks to this method, passive elements are optimised by reducing their global weight and volume.

Les réseaux électriques ont profondément changé depuis leur apparition. Les petits réseaux locaux du début 20ème Siècle ont pendant longtemps été interconnectés pour former des réseaux plus vastes et fortement centralisés. Mais, les orientations politiques libérales des vingt dernières années ont inversé la tendance et les réseaux électriques sont de plus en plus vus comme des systèmes . intégrateurs de sous-systèmes décentralisés. Face à cette évolution libérale, la question de notre maîtrise de l'énergie est de plus en plus cruciale. Ce mémoire propose quelques pistes et solutions pour y répondre. Partant d'un constat historique et scientifique de l'évolution des réseaux électriques, le mémoire présente tout d'abord une modélisation en rupture des réseaux qui doit faciliter l'analyse des interactions en leur sein .. Afin de répondre aux enjeux d'une maîtrise optimale de l'énergie électrique, une deuxième partie esquisse un processus de conception des réseaux du futur. En conclusion, le mémoire s'ouvre sur les nombreuses perspectives scientifiques qu'offre l'évolution récente des réseaux électriques.

This paper aims at proving the application of the fault location method based on the Electromagnetic Time Reversal (EMTR) to multi-terminal HVDC (MTDC) networks. In particular, the paper integrates the EMTR fault location technique with the protection scheme recently proposed within the EU project TWENTIES. Further, in view of the peculiarity of the fast protection schemes required by HVDC applications, the paper discusses the performances of the EMTR-based fault location technique by using limited time-windows over which the fault-generated electromagnetic transients are time-reversed. The paper also discusses the advantage of the EMTR fault location related to the use of a single observation point to the case of MTDC grids. Indeed, such a peculiarity may represent a major advantage avoiding necessary time synchronization between the MTDC-fault recording stations and might represents, also, a backup protection system. The performances of the proposed method are validated by numerical simulations obtained using the EMTP-RV simulation environment where electromagnetic fault-transients are reproduced with reference to the MTDC benchmark network of the project TWENTIES.
