Literature reviews are an essential feature of academic research because, fundamentally, the advancement of knowledge must be built on prior existing work, and to push the frontiers of knowledge, one must be clear as to where these frontiers presently are. By systematically analyzing, synthesizing, and summarizing bodies of related literature, hypotheses can be tested and/or new theories and insights developed. However, despite the recent increase in systematic review research in business and management, and particularly marketing literature, arguably, many reviews continue to be poorly undertaken and reported due to a lack of a rigorous modus operandi for their journal editors, reviewers, and readers. The purpose of this paper is twofold, first to offer marketing researchers and practitioners a modus operandi to better demonstrate the optimization of rigor when undertaking quantitative systematic review research, and second to represent a call-to-action for marketing scholarship to engage further with optimizing rigorous systematic review research in the future. We analyze the computational reproducibility of more than 1,000 empirical answers to 6 research questions in finance provided by 168 research teams. Running the researchers' code on the same raw data regenerates exactly the same results only 52% of the time. Reproducibility is higher for researchers with better coding skills and those exerting more effort. It is lower for more technical research questions, more complex code, and results lying in the tails of the distribution. Researchers exhibit overconfidence when assessing the reproducibility of their own research. While the many-body expansion (MBE) and counterpoise treatments are commonly used to mitigate the high scaling of accurate ab initio methods, researchers may need to piece together tools and scripts if their primary chosen software does not support targeted features. To further modular software in quantum chemistry, the arbitrary-order, multiple-model-chemistry, counterpoise-enabled MBE implementation from Psi4 has been extracted into an independent, lightweight, and open-source Python module, QCManyBody, with new schema underpinning, application programming interface, and software integrations. The package caters to direct users by facilitating single-point and geometry optimization MBE calculations backed by popular quantum chemistry codes through the QCEngine runner and by defining a schema for requesting and reporting many-body computations. It also serves developers and integrators by providing minimal, composable, and extensible interfaces. Sub-diffraction needle beams with high intensity, sub-diffraction focal size, and long depth of focus (DOF) have attracted many researchers' attention. However, the traditional methods for needle beam generation typically require many devices, such as phase elements, amplitude filters, and lens, which leads to a complex and bulky system and unfavorable for their integration. To address these challenges, we use a single multifunctional transmissive metasurface to convert a linearly polarized plane wave into a needle beam in the microwave range. The guided wave inspired unit cells of the proposed metasurface is designed to simultaneously and independently modulate the polarization and phase of transmitted waves. By imposing the desired polarization and phase distributions on the metasurface, the proposed multifunctional transmissive metasurface can efficiently generate a needle beam with subdiffraction size and extended DOF at 10 GHz when it is illuminated by an x-polarized wave. The proposed metasurface is fabricated, and a sub-diffraction needle beam with good performance is obtained in our measurements. In addition, a proof-of-concept of a high-resolution nondestructive testing experiment based on our designed metasurface is accomplished. Service-oriented manufacturing has been a prevalent trend in integrating product collaborative development with maintenance service, whereas the final products are frequently trapped into severe quality defects lacking appropriate contracting incentives. This paper establishes a tractable framework investigating the alignment of inspection and warranty strategies to manage product quality throughout the R&D, manufacturing and usage processes. Specifically, the manufacturing effort is motivated by a cost-sharing contract provided by the researcher, who performs quality inspection upon receiving the final product. Subsequent maintenance service is predesignated for warranty period coverage that the cost is partially claimed for compensation from the manufacturer. Under both breakdown and preventive maintenance strategies, we elaborate and compare the optimal incentive intensities solving the equilibrium effort decisions and inspection accuracy. The results suggest that both R&D and manufacturing effort levels under preventive maintenance are slightly higher than that under breakdown maintenance scenario, while inspection accuracy contradicts conversely. The breakdown maintenance strategy is associated with a lower proportion of warranty costs borne by the manufacturer. For a sufficient long warranty period, the researcher is better off to conduct preventive maintenance periodically. The Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Science (AMOS) Gateway is a comprehensive cyberinfrastructure for research and educational activities in computational AMO science. The B-Spline atomic R-Matrix (BSR) suite of programs is one of several computer programs currently available on the gateway. It is an excellent example of the gateway's potential to increase the scientific productivity of AMOS users. While the suite is available to be used in batch mode, its complexity does not make it well-suited to the approach taken in the gateway's default setup. The complexity originates from the need to execute many different computations and to construct generally complex workflows, requiring numerous input files that must be used in a specific sequence. The BSR graphical user interface described in this paper was developed to considerably simplify employing the BSR codes on the gateway, making BSR available to a large group of researchers and students interested in AMO science. A newer nanoscale technology called quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) has been used by researchers to design digital circuits in place of the more traditional complementary metal–oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. This recent development in the technology change is due to the problems faced by CMOS technology in terms of power consumption and physical limitations. The advantages of QCA technology over CMOS technology are high density, low power consumption, high-speed operation, and less footprint area. This research provides a novel circuit for D-latch and static random access memory (SRAM) cells based on QCA technology. Initially, a D-latch circuit is proposed with a layout area of 0.01 μm2, a 0.5 clock cycle delay (latency), and a cell count of 18 QCA cells. Furthermore, an SRAM cell is proposed using the same D-latch circuit, which uses cell counts of 26 QCA cells and contributes to a layout area of 0.02 μm2 with a 0.75 clock cycle delay (latency). It is observed that our proposed circuits have a smaller layout area, fewer QCA cell counts, and a lower clock cycle delay (latency) than existing circuits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study sought to examine how preservice physical educators conceptualize and intend to use standards-based grading (SBG) after receiving a 1-hr workshop on implementing SBG into a physical education (PE) setting. Methods: Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the researchers utilized class reflection assignments, a perceptions survey, and interviews with 10 undergraduate physical educators at a Midwestern university. Findings: The SBG workshop positively influenced participants' views of the importance of PE, enhanced their attitudes toward organized and meaningful instructional planning, and shaped participants' perceived norms and level of control when implementing SBG in their future classrooms. Discussion/Conclusion: SBG provides a means for preservice physical educators to validate their field and area of study and to visualize the interconnectedness of teaching, learning, and assessment within PE. India continues to modernize its nuclear arsenal, with at least four new weapon systems and several new delivery platforms under development to complement or replace existing nuclear-capable aircraft, land-based delivery systems, and sea-based systems. Several of these systems are nearing completion and will soon be fielded. We estimate that India may have produced enough military plutonium for 130 to 210 nuclear warheads but likely has produced only around 172, although the country's warhead stockpile is likely growing. Out-of-school youth sport in the United States is bigger, more varied, and more impactful than ever before. In dialogue with existing scholarship, this paper uses multisite, collaborative fieldwork to identify core elements of program variation and develop a composite typology of this organizational field. The typology is based on a distinction between "sport-focused" programs and programs oriented toward nonsport social and developmental goals. Our primary insight is that programs within these domains exhibit two different organizational logics, one hierarchical, the other categorical. We also argue that variabilities of funding, social context, and reliance on public facilities are additional factors that impact the operation and effectiveness of these program types including their ability to address the racialized challenges of access, equity, and inclusion. Theorizing these differential configurations and their underlying characteristics can help parents, policymakers, practitioners (including coaches), and sports researchers engage youth sports more effectively under increasingly competitive neoliberal conditions. Background: Effective physical activity (PA) interventions are needed to counter the insufficient and declining levels of PA in youth. These require an updated, comprehensive planning framework that consolidates recent decades of progress in promoting PA in young children, children, and adolescents. Effective PA interventions require program planning and conceptual model development that target a coordinated and multilevel set of age-specific PA determinants. Accordingly, this paper presents a comprehensive planning framework that researchers can use to design intervention research to promote PA in youth. Methods: The first author conducted targeted searches through Google Scholar to compile PA models/frameworks/guides applicable to youth, a comprehensive set of PA determinants, and determinant-linked strategies to promote PA focusing on review articles. The information was summarized in tables, synthesized, and used to create a planning framework, all of which were reviewed by coauthors. Results: The APPLE Framework for Planning PA Opportunities for Youth (APPLE = Age, PA focus, Place and time, Leverage relevant influences and strategies, and ensure Enjoyable PA opportunities) incorporated all core elements from targeted reviews to create a comprehensive planning framework. The APPLE Planning Framework has a set of questions/prompts that guide the intervention planning process and conceptual model templates to organize planning efforts for designing intervention research. Conclusions: The APPLE Framework for Planning PA Opportunities for Youth will enable researchers to develop comprehensive conceptual models to guide the design of PA interventions for youth. This research note addresses a significant gap in the literature regarding the underlying mechanisms of purchase decision-making that lead to unplanned and impulse purchases. Although several papers have highlighted the differences between the two purchase types, recent academic publications continue to use those terms interchangeably. Through a systematic literature review, this study identified six high-level constructs, in line the Theoretical Domains Framework, that effectively differentiate unplanned from impulse purchase types. Overall, impulse (vs. unplanned) purchases have a primary association with automatic (vs. reflective) motivation. With these findings, academic researchers can better define the types of purchase they are investigating, including the main constructs and underlying psychological mechanisms that are associated with these purchases. As a result, this study substantially improves the reliability of knowledge in this domain. Additionally, this study may encourage marketers to expand their existing toolkits with a broader set of activities that can drive these different purchase types. For instance, marketers could appeal to different underlying purchase decision-making mechanisms: for unplanned purchases, they could offer reminders of related products; for impulse purchases, they could focus on immediate gratification. Sales force turnover has been identified as one of the top issues in sales organizations by sales researchers and practitioners. The present research examines the role of two under-investigated factors: sales role focus (i.e., hunting focus versus farming focus), and salespeople's career aspirations in understanding turnover. Analysis of survey data from 263 salespeople showed support for sales role focus as a factor associated with salespeople's turnover intention and career aspirations, and the influence of salespeople's age on the supported relationship. The current research extends the sales literature by demonstrating how salespeople's age moderates the relationship between sales role focus and turnover intention through career aspirations. Lean manufacturing (LM) applies different tools that help to eliminate waste as well as the operations that do not add value to the product or processes to increase the value of each performed activity. Here the main motivation is to study how quantitative modelling approaches can support LM tools even under system and environment uncertainties. The main contributions of the article are: (i) providing a systematic literature review of 99 works related to the modelling of uncertainty in LM environments; (ii) proposing a methodology to classify the reviewed works; (iii) classifying LM works under uncertainty; and (iv) identify quantitative models and their solution to deal with uncertainty in LM environments by identifying the main variables involved. Hence this article provides a conceptual framework for future LM quantitative modelling under uncertainty as a guide for academics, researchers and industrial practitioners. The main findings identify that LM under uncertainty has been empirically investigated mainly in the US, India and the UK in the automotive and aerospace manufacturing sectors using analytical and simulation models to minimise time and cost. Combined use of action observation and motor imagery (AOMI) is an increasingly popular motor-simulation intervention, which involves observing movements on video while simultaneously imagining the feeling of movement execution. Measuring and reporting participant imagery-ability characteristics are essential in motor-simulation research, but no measure of AOMI ability currently exists. Accordingly, the AOMI Ability Questionnaire (AOMI-AQ) was developed to address this gap in the literature. In Study 1, two hundred eleven participants completed the AOMI-AQ and the kinesthetic imagery subscales of the Movement Imagery Questionnaire-3 and Vividness of Motor Imagery Questionnaire-2. Following exploratory factor analysis, an 8-item AOMI-AQ was found to correlate positively with existing motor-imagery measures. In Study 2, one hundred seventy-four participants completed the AOMI-AQ for a second time after a period of 7–10 days. Results indicate a good test–retest reliability for the AOMI-AQ. Vision is central to success in nearly all sports, and there is an emerging body of research investigating the links between visual abilities and athletic performance. This preregistered scoping review seeks to clarify the topics of study, methodologies used, populations under investigation, researchers, and disciplines driving this field. Systematic searches of English-language articles were conducted in PubMed and Web of Science, with additional literature identified through bibliographic searches. Six hundred sixty-seven articles published between 1976 and 2023 were identified with 547 empirical studies, 58 review articles, 20 commentaries, and 4 meta-analyses, among others. Among the empirical papers, 411 reported on visual assessments and 98 on vision training interventions. The most represented sports included baseball, soccer, basketball, and cricket, with over 150 articles reporting on professional, elite, or Olympic athletes. This scoping review describes the breadth of this emerging field, identifies its strengths and weaknesses, and provides recommendations for future improvement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Over the last 4 decades, physical activity researchers have invested heavily in determining "what works" to promote healthy behaviors in schools. Single and multicomponent school-based interventions that target physical education, active transportation, and/or classroom activity breaks effectively increased physical activity among children and youth. Yet, few of these interventions are ever scaled-up and implemented under real-world conditions and in diverse populations. To achieve population-level health benefits, there is a need to design school-based health-promoting interventions for scalability and to consider key aspects of the scale-up process. In this opinion piece, we aim to identify challenges and advance knowledge and action toward scaling-up school-based physical activity interventions. We highlight the key roles of planning for scale-up at the outset, scale-up pathways, trust among partners and program support, program adaptation, evaluation of scale-up, and barriers and facilitators to scaling-up. We draw upon our experience scaling-up effective school-based interventions and provide a solid foundation from which others can work toward bridging the implementation-to-scale-up gap. We address business schools' need to develop policies and practices informed by researchers' scholarly impact by offering an improved conceptualization and measure that considers contextual and temporal aspects: the Contextualized Scholarly Impact Index (CSII). We also offer software to calculate individual and institutional-level CSII scores. Our measure of scholarly impact (a) considers impact within the context of the management field, (b) relies on quantity and quality dimensions of research impact, (c) incorporates temporal aspects of impact, and (d) yields scholarly impact scores using the latest data from an inclusive set of influential management journals. CSII provides a transparent and multidimensional measure of scholarly impact to informpolicymaking, facilitate benchmarking of research impact, and support researchers in understanding and enhancing their scholarly contributions. Our study contributes to policymaking and practice by improving the theoretical conceptualization of scholarly impact; offering a metric for comparing the impact of individual scholars, research groups (e.g., teams, centers, and institutes), and business schools; aiding funding agencies in making informed decisions; assisting in the training and development of faculty and doctoral students; supporting policies for review, promotion, and tenure; and providing critical information for talent management practices including selection, succession planning, and rewards. Using the computer vision method, this study proposes an analytical model of visual aesthetics for brand communication and analyzes the effects of visual features (i.e., colors and visual complexity) on brand personality. This study illustrates a four-step procedure correlating computationally coded visual attributes with human ratings of perceived brand personality. Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a critical engine that powers a range of technology solutions. It is rapidly playing a vital role in supply chain and operations management. In this paper, we present a research agenda of how researchers and practitioners alike can study the potential adoption of AI-powered tools for benefits in the supply chain. We draw on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology and suggest directions for research that leverage a mixed-methods research approach. Because these technologies are in a nascent stage and evolving rapidly, a mixed-methods approach will allow for a careful examination of potential features and how their adoption can be fostered, with specific benefits in mind. Artificial intelligence (AI) is considered a mechanism that can improve supply chain resilience. Organisations around the world are investing in implementing AI systems to improve their supply chain and become more resilient to pandemics and disruption. At the same time, practitioners are not fully aware of the factors that impact the implementation of these systems. Alongside this, the extant literature lacks a comprehensive study that evaluates the enablers impacting the implementation of AI in production systems. This research fills this gap by identifying, defining, and evaluating the critical enablers influencing the adoption and implementation of AI in production systems. We extracted twelve enablers, created a conceptual model, and categorised the enablers based on the Technology, Organization, and Environment (TOE) framework. After categorisation, we used the analytical hierarchy process to assess the importance of the enablers presented in the model using data collected from eight experts. The results revealed that technology, as a category, is more crucial than organisation or environment. The findings also indicated that project management is the most critical of all twelve enablers. We discuss the implications of the analysis for practitioners and researchers. We also offer twelve propositions that researchers can empirically assess in future studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The structural, conformational, and spectroscopic properties in the gas phase of 20 bicyclic monoterpenes and monoterpenoids have been analyzed by a new accurate, reduced-cost computational strategy. In detail, the revDSD-PBEP86 double-hybrid functional in conjunction with the D3BJ empirical dispersion corrections and a suitable triple-zeta basis set provides accurate geometrical parameters, whence equilibrium rotational constants, which are further improved by proper account of core–valence correlation. Average deviations within 0.1% between computed and experimental rotational constants are reached when taking into account the vibrational corrections obtained by the B3LYP functional in conjunction with a double-zeta basis set in the framework of second-order vibrational perturbation theory. In addition to their intrinsic interest, the studied terpenes further extend the panel of systems for which the proposed strategy has provided accurate results at density functional theory cost. Therefore, a very accurate yet robust and user-friendly tool is now available for systematic investigations of the role of stereo-electronic effects on the properties of large systems of current technological and/or biological interest by experimentally oriented researchers. North Korea continues to modernize and grow its nuclear weapons arsenal. In this Nuclear Notebook, the authors cautiously estimate that North Korea may have produced enough fissile material to hypothetically build up to 90 nuclear warheads, but has likely assembled fewer than that—potentially around 50. This column examines the role of research and publication by retired faculty from two perspectives: the varying ability according to discipline and the extrinsic and intrinsic rewards of remaining an active scholar. Faculty that depend heavily on university support and working in teams such as many STEM areas and some Social Science disciplines will find it harder to remain active researchers. Humanities faculty with a tradition of individual authorship and dependence upon library resources will face fewer barriers. Fine Arts faculty fall in the middle depending on their area. Few retired faculty will receive extrinsic financial rewards and will lose the indirect rewards from their universities as active researchers. The main intrinsic reward is maintaining their self-image as scholars with the ability to share their knowledge. Faculty may continue to get satisfaction from monitoring their influence from their citation and readership counts. This paper proposes diary studies as a methodological choice for addressing crucial questions in qualitative process research. Diary studies unearth within-individual relationships that capture individual experiences and sense-making of these experiences in a processual manner. Therefore, using diary studies not only addresses the need for more dynamic methodological designs in qualitative research, but is advantageous for providing a process view of how the individual engages with the constructs studied. While process-studies, studied longitudinally, are often fraught with challenges of attrition or disengagement, this paper discusses how a methodological choice which is perceived as being beneficial by the participant can sustain engagement and consequently, research rigour. On one hand, a comparison of interview and diary data from the same participants show evidence of memory decay in interviews and reinforce the rigour of diary studies in the study of processual phenomenon. On the other hand, this study also showcases how researcher know-how, unintentionally imparted through reflective and processual questions asked in the study positively impacts the participants, and when reflected on, enhanced learning. This paper therefore demonstrates the ability of a research method to benefit both the research and the researched, and suggests a step-by-step design to implement a rigorous and impactful diary study using user-friendly forms and reflective questioning. This paper explores a rapid and low-intensity qualitative method that yields deep and rich insights into Generation Z and Millennials, who constitute the largest consumer group in history. This group favours frictionless digital solutions and their engagement with 'elaborate' qualitative techniques is unlikely, requiring researchers to marshal efficient technology-facilitated methods that render comparable insight. We assess the capacity of a 'simple' projective technique – online word association, accompanied by a few supporting questions – to offer as fine-grained insight into this consumer group against a more involved story stem completion method. The UK buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) context provides a complex novel market for this examination. Results suggest strong conceptual interconnection between the word association and the story stem completion task. Word associations generated similar resonance and tonality to that of the story stem but in a more compact manner, which liberates researchers and participants alike. The word association task focuses and delineates attention on a narrower set of words, not often done in the context of more traditional qualitative techniques, including story stem completion. Young consumers' vocabularies reveal their most salient perceptions of the phenomenon. The word association task also facilitates Generation Z and Millennials' active and positive online engagement, removing resistance and withdrawal from the research. Purpose: This study explored how preservice physical education teachers (PPETs) perceive health-related fitness testing (HRFT) administered in a self-testing format with the aim to enhance their HRFT learning and better prepare them for future HRFT implementation. Methods: The study utilized a constructive phenomenological research design. A total of 11 PPETs participated in the study. Data were collected through a focus group interview, individual interviews, observation and field notes, and written assignments. Two researchers analyzed the data in NVivo 12. Results: Three findings were concluded from the data. First, the administration of self-testing engaged PPETs in active learning of HRFT. Second, PPETs reported positive attitudes toward self-testing when their needs for competence, autonomy, and relatedness were satisfied. Lastly, PPETs identified challenges and proposed suggestions for completing and administrating HRFT. Conclusions: Self-testing may be used as an alternative approach to preparing PPETs for HRFT. This study investigates the effects of the organization of industrial Research & Development on industrial researchers' knowledge acquisition behavior. Specifically, we test a model about how the fit of individuals with their research tasks affects whether industrial researchers acquire knowledge from outside their assigned projects. Empirical analyses from the R&D laboratory of a global pharmaceutical company show that person-task-fit has a non-linear effect on the knowledge content exchanged through interpersonal interactions. In this recursively reflexive comment, I reflect on the seven commentaries that critically elaborate upon my proposals about the radically decentering ontological implications of Russ Belk's conceptualization of the extended self. These wide-ranging commentaries address a nexus of thought provoking and intriguing topics that significantly expand and enrich this discussion about the future of consumer research (as we can best envision it from the limits of our contemporary standpoints). I am thrilled to have provided an impetus for these reflections and, as a secondary benefit, they have helped me to better crystallize my initial reflections via the reflexive trope of the consumer as an elusive epistemic object, endlessly pursued by marketing researchers. In responding to Craig Thompson's commentary, we argue that assemblage, contrary to how it has often been theorised in consumer research, is subject oriented. Drawing on Deleuze, we explore how desire is thus not abstract but is part of a context of life that is organised by the subject. In neutralising the subject's attachments, consumer researchers are prevented from seeing how desires left unfulfilled can represent deeper social marginalisations and how the market incentivises unsustainable and uncaring behaviours. We argue that Craig's commentary raises the need to recognise that an affective architecture of feelings is always at work. We call for a more 'care-full' approach which does not ignore the desiring body, deny the power differentials that exist and apoliticises our attachments within these networks of relations. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools have seen widespread adoption in the sales function. However, the pace of adoption means that sales researchers are often several steps behind the business world. A way to alleviate some of these concerns is to provide a practical, yet up-to-date understanding of AI in sales. Thus, the purpose of this manuscript is to clarify what AI is, the role of AI in sales, and its implications for multiple stakeholders in the sales organization (i.e. salespeople, sales managers, organizations, and customers). To achieve this objective, the authors provide an up-to-date examination of business practices that are interwoven with practitioner and academic literature. Next, based upon exploratory interviews with eighteen practitioners, the authors discuss challenges and opportunities that can arise due to AI adoption. There has been a paucity of literature discussing how to address consent procedures as part of ethics, practitioner development, and best practice in applied sport psychology. Several researchers have addressed ethical challenges (e.g., out-of-session contact, overidentification, time, and space). However, none have substantially considered the sport-specific issues related to consent, which sits at the heart of best practice. The scarcity of discussing consent is limiting sport psychology's potential to establish itself as a more recognized profession. This article highlights some contextual issues that challenge the idea and efficacy of informed consent. It proposes adapting consent procedures in the collaboration between sport psychology practitioners and clients to better address the current contextual challenges in applied sport psychology. In doing so, the current paper introduces Empowered Consent, which is specifically designed to empower athletes and address challenges related to choosing interventions, contractual obligations, visibility in the environment, and staff trying to gain insights into confidential information. Long COVID is a chronic and often disabling illness with long-term consequences. Although progress has been made in the clinical characterization of long COVID, no approved treatments exist and disconnects between patients and researchers threaten to hinder future progress. Incorporating patients as active collaborators in long COVID research can bridge the gap and accelerate progress toward treatments and cures.

Open-source APOST-3D software features a large number of wavefunction analysis tools developed over the past 20 years, aiming at connecting classical chemical concepts with the electronic structure of molecules. APOST-3D relies on the identification of the atom in the molecule (AIM), and several analysis tools are implemented in the most general way so that they can be used in combination with any chosen AIM. Several Hilbert-space and real-space (fuzzy atom) AIM definitions are implemented. In general, global quantities are decomposed into one- and two-center terms, which can also be further grouped into fragment contributions. Real-space AIM methods involve numerical integrations, which are particularly costly for energy decomposition schemes. The current version of APOST-3D features several strategies to minimize numerical error and improve task parallelization. In addition to conventional population analysis of the density and other scalar fields, APOST-3D implements different schemes for oxidation state assignment (effective oxidation state and oxidation states localized orbitals), molecular energy decomposition schemes, and local spin analysis. The APOST-3D platform offers a user-friendly interface and a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art tools to bridge the gap between theory and experiment, representing a valuable resource for both seasoned computational chemists and researchers with a focus on experimental work. The United States has embarked on a wide-ranging nuclear modernization program that will ultimately see every nuclear delivery system replaced with newer versions over the coming decades. In this issue of the Nuclear Notebook, we estimate that the United States maintains a stockpile of approximately 3,708 warheads—an unchanged estimate from the previous year. Of these, only about 1,770 warheads are deployed, while approximately 1,938 are held in reserve. Additionally, approximately 1,336 retired warheads are awaiting dismantlement, giving a total inventory of approximately 5,044 nuclear warheads. Background: The objective of this study was to investigate gender differences in authorship in physical activity and health research. Methods: A bibliometric study including 23,399 articles from 105 countries was conducted to estimate the participation of female researchers in physical activity publications from 1950 to 2019. The frequency of female researchers was analyzed and classified by first and last authors and the overall percentage of female authors by region and country. Results: The proportion of female first authors increased from <10% in the 50s and 80s to 55% in the last decade. On the other hand, the proportion of last authors increased from 8.7% to 41.1% in the same period. Most publications with female researchers were from the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands, Spain, England, Germany, Sweden, and China. Nine of these countries had over 50% of the articles published by female first authors. However, in all 10 countries, <50% of the articles were published by female last authors. Conclusions: The proportion of female researchers increased over time. However, regional differences exist and should be addressed in gender equity policies. There is a gap in the participation of female researchers as last authors. By actively addressing the gender gap in research, the global society can harness the full potential of all talented individuals, regardless of gender, leading to more inclusive and impactful scientific advancements. In the last few years, we have witnessed growing backlash against "wokeness" from numerous actors. Indeed, politicians, social commentators, corporate executives, and academics have all taken aim at the concept. In this Exchange article, we respond to the recent criticisms laid against "woke" diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) scholarship and practice from researchers in the field of management, focusing particularly on those claims that have been expressed recently in this journal. We find particularly troubling the potential for anti-woke academic rhetoric to function as intellectual scaffolding for ideological and political efforts that undermine the hard-earned legal and organizational advances in the area of DEI made over the last several decades. We contend that, while such work is ostensibly framed within a broader critique of "wokeness," the arguments put forward by its authors are, in actuality, directed toward challenging organizations as sites where the privileges attached to membership in socially dominant groups are normalized and reproduced. Our discussion addresses three foundational areas of concern: (a) the conflation of "woke" with DEI scholarship and practice, (b) the misrepresentation of organizational DEI efforts, and (c) the under-appreciation of the importance of organizational inclusion for stakeholders. We elaborate on the implications that emanate from this backlash against "woke" DEI scholarship and practice, including the undoing of progressive social policies and the concomitant legitimation of populist rhetoric. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations play an important role in understanding and engineering heat transport properties of complex materials. An essential requirement for reliably predicting heat transport properties is the use of accurate and efficient interatomic potentials. Recently, machine-learned potentials (MLPs) have shown great promise in providing the required accuracy for a broad range of materials. In this mini-review and tutorial, we delve into the fundamentals of heat transport, explore pertinent MD simulation methods, and survey the applications of MLPs in MD simulations of heat transport. Furthermore, we provide a step-by-step tutorial on developing MLPs for highly efficient and predictive heat transport simulations, utilizing the neuroevolution potentials as implemented in the GPUMD package. Our aim with this mini-review and tutorial is to empower researchers with valuable insights into cutting-edge methodologies that can significantly enhance the accuracy and efficiency of MD simulations for heat transport studies. This article reports on research into staff perceptions of the goals of the public library. The current study is a replication study based on an article published in Library Quarterly in 1984. The current study considers the concept of a core "enduring" or common set of values or goals associated with the LIS profession and asks if these are consistent across a library workforce and across time. The historical dimension of this current study allowed the researchers to investigate any identifiable change and the ongoing development of staff perceptions of library goals since the original study nearly 40 years ago. Findings indicate only minor changes in perceptions and a consistency of goals across the workforce and across time. Learning theories provide philosophically informed, basic principles for understanding the mechanisms through which people learn based on a combination of field or laboratory studies. Unfortunately, however, there are several clear conflicts between theoretical approaches and common methods in teaching. Consequently, key challenges among teachers relate to knowing which theoretical approach to adopt and, therefore, methods to apply. This contradiction is even more confusing since some arguments from each approach are coherent with current practice, whilst others are either inconsistent, unclear or even counter to established teaching views. In short, the implications for teachers are, at best, suboptimal. Accordingly, this paper aims to explore the differences in theoretical perspectives and thence, to propose that there is a need for multiple approaches, possibly used in combination. Researchers have studied human perception-action systems during interceptive tasks in real or virtual situations. Training and practice may enhance perception and action in dynamic gap interception tasks like crossing a road. For relevant studies, we thoroughly searched PubMed, PsycINFO, ScienceDirect, ResearchGate, and SPORTDiscus. We reviewed and summarized research to determine how task-specific practice, exercise, and sports experience affect perception-action capacities when intercepting a moving gap. Specifically, we examined how sports experience influences perception-action coupling in street crossing. Task-specific and sports skills may improve perception-action in everyday activities. Non-accidental violence in women's gymnastics has gained significant attention, and is a sport where gender is clearly differentiated. Despite the volume of gymnastics research on these themes it seemingly had little impact in preventing harm. We conducted a critical interpretative synthesis of 45 articles to reexamine the literature for understanding of, and connections between, gender and violence. We found that where gender viewed as a structure was explicit, violence was not. Conversely where violence was explicit, gender was implicit and viewed in individualist terms. Only one article explicitly connected gender and violence recognizing violence as a gendered outcome. We encourage researchers to incorporate gender as a structure in analytical inquiries and identify the wider contexts and associated mechanisms through which gender intersects with violence. Background: Communities of practice (CoP) have been proposed as a promising form of continuing professional development for teachers' learning. However, there remains limited understanding of the processes and factors that sustain teacher-initiated CoP. Purpose: This study provides a qualitative examination of a group of internal leaders' perspectives on how a large teacher-initiated CoP in South Korea was established and sustained as an effective form of continuing professional development. Methods: Data included semistructured interviews with the internal leaders, Website artifacts, and researchers' reflective journals, and were analyzed through inductive analysis. Results: Findings included the following: (a) shared passion for good teaching, (b) widening professional network, (c) collaboration through sharing, and (d) continuing professional development opportunities via technology. Discussion: The CoP were initiated by a group of teachers with a shared value for improving their teaching in schools and were sustained through online and offline interactions that created a safe space for sharing ideas, collaborative interactions, and learning opportunities. How would consumers respond to mobile ads in spatially and temporally bounded captive environments? We theorize that consumers who are forced to wait are likely to perceive an abundance of time and ultimately become more responsive to mobile ads. To test our theory, we conducted three studies following a multimethod approach. In Study 1, a large-scale field study (n = 66,473), we found a relationship between captivity and receptiveness to mobile ads in transit. In Study 2, a lab experiment, we extended our findings by revealing that time perception mediated the relationship between captivity and intention to click on mobile ads. Last, in Study 3, we tested boredom and individual propensities to use time efficiently as underlying mediating and moderating conditions for captivity's effect. Scaling is common in empirical accounting research. It is often done to mitigate heteroscedasticity or the influence of firm size on parameter estimates. However, Barth and Clinch conclude that common diagnostic tools are ineffective in detecting various scale effects. Using analytic results and Monte Carlo simulations, we show that common forms of scaling, when misapplied, induce substantial spurious correlation via biased parameter estimates. Researchers, when uncertain about the exact functional form of scale effect, are typically better off dealing with both heteroscedasticity and the influence of larger firms using techniques other than scaling.
