Aim Background Method Results Conclusion This study aimed to systematically review empirical evidence on factors influencing nurses to report medication errors and near misses.There is underreporting of medication errors among nurses, in particular among novice and beginner nurses. To improve quality of care, factors influencing the reporting of medication errors and near misses should be documented.A systematic mixed methods review was conducted. CINAHL, Cochrane Collaboration, Embase, Medline, PsycINFO and Web of Science databases were explored and analysed from December 1990 to December 2023. Two reviewers independently selected and extracted data using a standardized data extraction grid. Data were analysed using thematic analysis based on the adapted theory of planned behaviour.Forty‐two studies met the eligibility criteria. Principal factors influencing the reporting of medication errors and near misses among nurses were associated with perceived behavioural control, subjective norm and attitude. Few studies examined factors influencing reporting medication errors and near misses among novice and beginner nurses, and sociodemographic and professional factors.To understand factors influencing reporting of medication errors and near misses, further studies should be conducted to investigate sociodemographic and professional factors. The ever‐increasing popularity of standardized systems for reporting cytopathology has led in part to much attention to and importance of the risk stratification schemes, especially the risks of malignancy (ROMs), which are associated with the different diagnostic categories and upon which recommendations for clinical management are based. However, it is well known that the ROM calculations are based on retrospective reviews of the existing literature, representing a heterogeneous patient population, and are plagued by significant biases and variations. Statistically, the ROM represents the post‐test probability of malignancy, which changes with the test result and with the prevalence of malignancy (or pretest probability) in an individual practice setting and individual patient presentation. Therefore, the clinical utility of the ROM is questioned and likely needs a second look in the nongynecologic cytopathology reporting systems. In this communication, the authors discuss the status of the ROM estimates according to the most commonly used nongynecologic reporting systems, including for thyroid, salivary glands, and others, highlighting similarities and differences with a focus on the limitations of ROM estimates and their application in clinical practice. Standardized systems for reporting cytopathology have grown in popularity, and the risk‐stratification schemes in such reporting systems have gained in importance, especially the risk of malignancy (ROM). The status of ROM estimation according to the most commonly used nongynecologic reporting systems is discussed, highlighting similarities and differences and focused on the limitations of ROM estimates and their application in clinical practice. This research aims to analyze the influence of clarity of budget objectives, accounting control, and reporting systems on performance accountability in government agencies. The respondents in this study were staff in all sections of one government agency, the secretariat of the Palopo City DPRD. This research uses a causality-based quantitative method through distributing questionnaires. The population in this study were employees who worked at the Palopo City DPRD Secretariat with a sampling technique using saturated sampling (census), which means sampling utilized the entire population. The data were analyzed using SPSS software. The results of this research show that clarity of budget targets, accounting controls, and reporting systems have a positive and significant effect on performance accountability. The aim of this research is to examine the influence of performance-based budget planning, internal control, and reporting systems on performance accountability with organizational culture as a moderating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach. The research objects are performance-based budget planning, internal control, reporting systems, performance accountability, and organizational culture. The population of this study were employees from the Surabaya Class I Port Health Office and the sampling technique was carried out using the Slovin probability sampling technique, therefore the number of research samples was 88 samples. The type of data used is primary data originating from a questionnaire that was distributed to employees of the Surabaya Class I Port Health Office. Data analysis technique uses PLS (Partial Least Square) using SmartPLS 4 software. The research results state that performance-based budget planning has no effect on performance accountability, while internal control and reporting systems have an effect on performance accountability. The ethical obligation of social services professionals is to ensure that clients are not repeatedly harmed by the same risks. This study examines reports classified as actions harmful to clients due to work culture and the measures taken by managers in Finnish social services. The data used were the reports submitted by social services professionals based on reporting obligations to the SPro client-safety-reporting system and managers' measures documented in the reports. The reports (n = 1,433) were submitted from October 11, 2016, to December 31, 2020; those related to harmful work culture (n = 95) were selected and analyzed using inductive content analysis and quantification. The results showed that, based on professionals' perceptions, harmful work culture was linked to cooperation, information flow, resources, service or care implementation, and individuals' actions. Managers often decided to discuss reported events within the unit. More research is needed on harmful work culture from clients' perspectives and the effectiveness of measures to eliminate observed risks. Based on professionals' perceptions, work culture can harm social services clients. However, more research is needed from the client's perspective. The most frequently reported events related to harmful work culture were linked to the flow of information. The most common measure recorded by the managers was a discussion of the reported events within the unit, but more research is needed on the final implemented changes in practice. An effective and efficient AC maintenance reporting and monitoring system is very important to ensure the smoothness and reliability of the air conditioning system. The aim of this research is to analyze the current AC maintenance reporting and monitoring system at PT PPA Site SKS. This research uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques in this research are observation and document study. The data analysis technique used in this research is qualitative analysis using the grounded theory method. The research results show that the optimization of the reporting and monitoring system for AC maintenance repoers at PT PPA Site SKS is carried out by creating inspection and maintenance schedules periodically, creating AC Number Lists and QR codes on AC units to make it easier for the PIC to input maintenance reports, accessing the AppSheet on the device each PIC is related to AC inspection and maintenance reporting, and can monitor previous maintenance history reports, appoint an Electrical Team PIC related to AC maintenance and maintenance reporting, as well as carry out socialization and coaching to the appointed PIC Admin regarding AC maintenance and maintenance reporting mechanisms via Appsheet. After being evaluated, this effort shows that AC maintenance and upkeep can be monitored 100%, and reporting is more effective (does not require admin input in every AC maintenance and maintenance report). Cytopathologists have assumed a progressively pivotal role in diagnosing lymphoproliferative disorders. This review outlines a concise approach to the work-up of suspected lymphoma in cytopathology practice, emphasizing the integration of cytomorphologic evaluation with ancillary studies. These include the application of rapid onsite evaluation (ROSE) for proper specimen triage, immunophenotyping through flow cytometry (FC) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), and molecular studies on cytology/small biopsy specimens. Furthermore, the review provides a brief introduction to the forthcoming WHO Reporting System in Lymph Node Cytopathology.

The upcoming World Health Organization (WHO) Reporting System in Liver Cytopathology marks the first internationally applicable system for diverse medical infrastructure settings. This system categorizes cases into five groups: Insufficient/Inadequate/Nondiagnostic, Benign, Atypical, Suspicious for Malignancy, and Malignant. Each category is associated with a risk of malignancy (ROM), guiding recommendations for further diagnostic testing to achieve specific diagnoses or refine differential diagnoses and follow-up management. The primary goal is to enhance and standardize cytopathology reporting, improve communication between cytopathologists and clinicians, and ultimately elevate patient care. The online WHO System provides direct access to the WHO Classification for Tumours 5th Edition. This review delves into the latest classification guidelines, addresses terminology standardization, navigates diagnostic complexities, and aligns patient management options with cytopathological interpretations, contributing to an overall enhancement of patient care.

Abstract Background With the development of cancer precision medicine, a huge amount of high-dimensional cancer information has rapidly accumulated regarding gene alterations, diseases, therapeutic interventions and various annotations. The information is highly fragmented across multiple different sources, making it highly challenging to effectively utilize and exchange the information. Therefore, it is essential to create a resource platform containing well-aggregated, carefully mined, and easily accessible data for effective knowledge sharing. Methods In this study, we have developed “Consensus Cancer Core” (Tri©DB), a new integrative cancer precision medicine knowledgebase and reporting system by mining and harmonizing multifaceted cancer data sources, and presenting them in a centralized platform with enhanced functionalities for accessibility, annotation and analysis. Results The knowledgebase provides the currently most comprehensive information on cancer precision medicine covering more than 40 annotation entities, many of which are novel and have never been explored previously. Tri©DB offers several unique features: (i) harmonizing the cancer-related information from more than 30 data sources into one integrative platform for easy access; (ii) utilizing a variety of data analysis and graphical tools for enhanced user interaction with the high-dimensional data; (iii) containing a newly developed reporting system for automated annotation and therapy matching for external patient genomic data. Benchmark test indicated that Tri©DB is able to annotate 46% more treatments than two officially recognized resources, oncoKB and MCG. Tri©DB was further shown to have achieved 94.9% concordance with administered treatments in a real clinical trial. Conclusions The novel features and rich functionalities of the new platform will facilitate full access to cancer precision medicine data in one single platform and accommodate the needs of a broad range of researchers not only in translational medicine, but also in basic biomedical research. We believe that it will help to promote knowledge sharing in cancer precision medicine. The International Academy of Cytology has joined with the International Agency for Research on Cancer and the World Health Organization (WHO) to develop international systems for reporting the cytopathology of lung, pancreas and biliary tract, lymph nodes, soft tissue, liver, breast, and kidney and adrenal gland. The WHO recently published the reporting systems for lung and pancreaticobiliary cytopathology. The objectives of this collaboration are to standardize the reporting of cytopathology; improve the quality of reporting by establishing the key diagnostic cytopathological features of entities and neoplasms; provide detailed best‐practice guidelines in sampling techniques, specimen handling and processing, and the use of ancillary techniques; and facilitate communication between cytopathologists and clinicians to improve patient care. Each WHO system has defined specific categories and terminology for reporting cytopathology, and each category has an estimated risk of malignancy as far as the current literature allows and a suggested diagnostic management algorithm to assist clinicians. The WHO systems recognize that local medical and pathology infrastructure will vary, particularly in low‐income and middle‐income countries, and the WHO systems and their diagnostic management recommendations have been developed to allow them to be applied worldwide in all resource settings. The process of the selection of editors and authors and the writing and editing responsibilities has used the same model as that used for the fifth edition WHO Classification of Tumours, to which the WHO cytopathology systems are directly linked. This review provides the rationale and history of this joint International Academy of Cytology, International Agency for Research on Cancer, and WHO cytopathology project and a brief overview of the WHO reporting systems for lung and pancreaticobiliary cytopathology. Reporting systems are gradually gaining attention as a mechanism for users to engage in platform content governance, such as reporting problematic content in terms of misinformation or misbehaviors. However, there is little research on how a reporting system can be effectively designed to facilitate users’ reports. This study presents a model that is grounded in structural empowerment theory and the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework to bridge this gap and considers the embedded reporting system on social media as a mechanism to empower users to participate in reporting problematic content. Using a two-stage survey and a partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM), the authors find that three empowerment structures of the reporting system (i.e. information transparency, tool usability, and platform reporting support) stimulate users’ reporting self-efficacy through unequal pathways and then promote users’ engagement in reporting platform content. The contribution of this paper is that it explores the application of structural empowerment theory in empowering user reporting on social media platforms, explains the relationship between the three empowerment structures, and then provides a reference to content governance practices for the platform owner and other stakeholders. This research aims to determine the effect of clarity of budget targets and reporting system on accountability in village fund management in village throughout Asparaga Sub-District, Gorontalo Regency. The decrease in the amount of village funds received raise concern about the village's readiness in managing these funds. This research use quantitative methods using primary data obtained from questionnaire and measured using a likert scale. The data collection technique used a research questionnaire which was distributed to village officials with a total of 60 samples in this study. The tool used in this research is SPSS 27th version (statistical program for social science). Based on the results of the t test and f test of this research, it is known that clarity of budget targets and the reporting system has an influence on the accountability of village fund management. The clearer the budget targets and reporting systems in government, will help increase accountability in village fund management.

In their seminal paper from 2014, Fauvadon et al. coined the term FLASH irradiation to describe ultra-high-dose rate irradiation with dose rates greater than 40 Gy/s, which results in delivery times of fractions of a second. The experiments presented in that paper were performed with a high-dose-per-pulse 4.5 MeV electron beam, and the results served as the basis for the modern-day field of FLASH radiation therapy (RT). In this article, we review the studies that have been published after those early experiments, demonstrating the robust effects of FLASH RT on normal tissue sparing in preclinical models. We also outline the various irradiation parameters that have been used. Although the robustness of the biological response has been established, the mechanisms behind the FLASH effect are currently under investigation in a number of laboratories. However, differences in the magnitude of the FLASH effect between experiments in different labs have been reported. Reasons for these differences even within the same animal model are currently unknown, but likely has to do with the marked differences in irradiation parameter settings used. Here, we show that these parameters are often not reported, which complicates large multistudy comparisons. For this reason, we propose a new standard for beam parameter reporting and discuss a systematic path to the clinical translation of FLASH RT.

The purpose of pulmonary cytology is two-fold. First, to establish whether a pulmonary nodule is benign or malignant. Second, pulmonary cytology should classify the type of pathologic process present. When a pulmonary nodule is characterized as malignant, it is of high importance to further classify the malignancy as to type, with non-small cell carcinomas being sub-divided into adenocarcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, and other types of non-small cell carcinoma. The World Health Organization Reporting System for Lung Cytopathology (WHORSLC) provides an important framework for reporting and classifying material obtained by cytologic techniques, including sputum analysis, bronchial brushings, bronchial washings, and fine-needle aspiration. The system contains five categories for specimen reporting. Clinicians prefer definitive diagnoses separating specimens into definitively benign or definitively malignant categories. The WHORSLC recognizes that it is not invariably possible for cytopathologists to separate specimens into definitively benign or definitively malignant categories. The five categories of the WHORSLC recognize the spectrum of cytologic changes running from clearly benign to clearly malignant, which cytopathologists must place into diagnostically useful and reproduceable categories. The intermediate categories of "atypical" and "suspicious for malignancy" provide structured categories with stringent definitions, estimated malignancy risks, and suggested management and follow-up recommendations. In this way, the categories "atypical" and "suspicious for malignancy" aid in maintaining the high diagnostic accuracy of the "benign" and "malignant" categories. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper investigates the determinants of performance accountability in the regional government of the Riau Islands province. Specifically, we explore the influence of clarity of budget targets, internal control, compliance with laws and regulations, and reporting systems on performance accountability. We conducted a quantitative descriptive study using primary data and collected responses from 114 out of 205 regional apparatus organizations (Organisasi Perangkat Daerah, OPD) in districts/cities that had low-performance accountability scores in 4 out of 7 districts/cities. Our results reveal a significant positive correlation between the clarity of budget targets, internal control, and reporting systems with performance accountability in the regional government. However, compliance with statutory regulations was not found to have a significant effect on performance accountability. Our study provides valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners to improve performance accountability in regional governments. In conclusion, this paper emphasizes the importance of enhancing the clarity of budget targets, internal control, and reporting systems in ensuring better performance accountability. Introduction: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is widely used in orthopedics, but orthopedic surgeons, including spine surgeons, do not have detailed knowledge of MRI-related accidents. We, as orthopedic surgeons, investigated the details of medical accidents related to ferromagnetic objects brought into the MRI room using a national multicenter database. Methods: We conducted an exploratory analysis of accidents involving MRI ferromagnets based on the Japanese database of adverse medical occurrences. From a total of 104,659 accident reports over nine years, 172 involving the presence of ferromagnetic objects in the MRI room were extracted and analyzed. Results: The accident reports frequently involved children and the elderly. Nurses filed the highest number of reports (44.8%) by occupation, which was more than twice as many as physicians (19.8%). The most common ferromagnetic devices brought into the MRI rooms were pacemakers (n = 22). There were also large magnetic objects such as oxygen cylinders (n = 12) and IV stands (n = 7). In the field of orthopedics, ankle weights (n = 4), pedometers (n = 3), and artificial limbs (n = 2) were brought in. “Failure to check” was the most common cause of accidents (69%). Actual harm to patients occurred in 9% of cases, with no fatalities. Conclusions: Manuals and checklists should be developed and continuous education provided to prevent accidents involving magnetic objects brought into the MR scanner room. As orthopedic surgeons, including spine surgeons, we should be cautious with emergency, geriatric, and pediatric patients because their information and medical history may not be accurate. We should not overlook equipment commonly found in orthopedic practice such as ankle weights and pedometers.

Patient safety reports from 2006 to 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Incident severity was classified from level 0 (near miss) to level 5 (fatality). The incident types included those related to medication, patient care, drains and catheters, procedures and interventions, examinations, medical devices, and blood transfusions. The study period was divided into 1. 2004– 2007; 2. 2008– 2014; and 3. 2015– 2020 based on the implementation of hospital patient safety strategies. The number of reports per hospital worker was compared among the study periods and the incident levels and types.Results: We analyzed 96,332 reports extracted from the patient safety reporting system of the hospital. The total number of reports per hospital worker has increased over time. The numbers of levels 0 and 1 incidents increased throughout the study period. In addition, levels 3a and 3b incidents increased between periods 2 and 3. All incident types, except for procedure and intervention-related incidents, increased between periods 1 and 2 and between periods 1 and 3. The number of procedure and intervention-related incidents increased between periods 2 and 3, although it did not between periods 1 and 2.Conclusion: We found increases in the number of patient safety reports according to the incident severity and type. This suggests two contextual changes occurring during the cultural maturity process, which reflected the development of organizational patient safety culture in our institution. The first was the establishment of a reporting attitude in the institution. Objectives: To perform the first meta-analysis regarding the pooled risk of malignancy (ROM) of each category of the Yokohama system for reporting breast fine-needle aspiration, as well as assess the latter's diagnostic accuracy using this new system.Methods: Two databases were searched, followed by data extraction, study quality assessment, and statistical analysis.Results: The "Insufficient," "Benign," "Atypical," "Suspicious," and "Malignant" Yokohama system categories were associated with a pooled ROM of 17% (95% CI, 10%-28%), 1% (95% CI, 1%-3%), 20% (95% CI, 17%-23%), 86% (95% CI, 79%-92%), and 100% (95% CI, 99%-100%), respectively. When both "Suspicious" and "Malignant" interpretations were regarded as cytologically positive, sensitivity (SN) was 91% (95% CI, 87.6%-93.5%) and false-positive rate (FPR) was 2.33% (95% CI, 1.30-4.14%). A summary receiver operating characteristic curve was constructed and the pooled area under the curve was 97.3%, while the pooled diagnostic odds ratio was 564 (95% CI, 264-1,206), indicating a high level of diagnostic accuracy. When only "Malignant" interpretations were regarded as cytologically positive, the pooled FPR was lower (0.75%; 95% CI, .39%-1.42%) but at the expense of SN (76.61%; 95% CI, 70.05%-82.10%).Conclusions: Despite Yokohama's system early success, more data would be needed to unravel the system's value in clinical practice. The American College of Radiology (ACR) Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) lexicon and risk assessment tool for ultrasound (US) provides a framework for characterization of ovarian and adnexal pathology with the ultimate goal of harmonizing reporting and patient management strategies. Since the first O-RADS US publication in 2018, multiple validation studies have shown O-RADS US to have excellent diagnostic accuracy, with the majority of these studies using O-RADS 4 as the optimal cut-off for detecting ovarian cancer. Most of the existing validation studies include a dedicated training phase and confirm that ORADS US categories and lexicon descriptors are associated with high level inter-read agreement, regardless of radiologist training level or practice experience. O-RADS US has a similar inter-reader agreement when compared to Gynecologic Imaging Reporting and Data System (GIRADS), Assessment of Different Neoplasias in the adnexa (ADNEX), and International Tumor Analysis Group (IOTA) simple rules. System descriptors have been shown to correlate with expected malignancy rates and the O-RADS US risk stratification system has been shown to perform in the expected range of malignancy risk per category. Further directions will focus on clarifying governing concepts and lexicon terminology as well as further refining risk stratification categories based on data from published validation studies. This paper presents a novel, integrated system for smart city infrastructure management, combining automated street light control with real-time underground drainage monitoring. The system leverages GSM technology for data transmission and fault detection, offering significant benefits for municipal departments. Automated street light control utilizes light-dependent resistors (LDRs) for automatic activation and deactivation based on ambient light levels. This approach optimizes energy consumption, enhances public safety through consistent lighting, and reduces maintenance needs. Real-time underground drainage monitoring employs ultrasonic sensors within manholes to measure water levels. This enables proactive identification of potential blockages, minimizing the risk of flooding and associated public health hazards. Additionally, the system can monitor manhole lid status through sensors like magnetic reed switches, ensuring public safety and preventing theft. The system transmits data via the GSM network, enabling real-time monitoring and automated alerts for various scenarios. A central control center processes data and provides visualization tools, empowering informed decision-making for municipal authorities. This integrated approach fosters efficient resource allocation, improved infrastructure management, and enhanced public safety within the cityscape.

ABSTRACT Brown rot fungi are primary decomposers of wood and litter in northern forests. Relative to other microbes, these fungi have evolved distinct mechanisms that rapidly depolymerize and metabolize cellulose and hemicellulose without digesting the more recalcitrant lignin. Its efficient degradative system has therefore attracted considerable attention for the development of sustainable biomass conversion technologies. However, there has been a significant lack of genetic tools in brown rot species by which to manipulate genes for both mechanistic studies and engineering applications. To advance brown rot genetic studies, we provided a gene-reporting system that can facilitate genetic manipulations in a model fungus Gloeophyllum trabeum. We first optimized a transformation procedure in G. trabeum, and then transformed the fungus into a constitutive laccase producer with a well-studied white rot laccases gene (from Trametes versicolor). With this, we built a gene reporting system based on laccase gene’s expression and its rapid assay using an 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) indicator dye. The laccase reporter system was validated robust enough to allow us to test the effects of donor DNA’s formats, protoplast viability, and gene regulatory elements on transformation efficiencies. Going forward, we anticipate the toolset provided in this work would expedite phenotyping studies and genetic engineering of brown rot species. IMPORTANCE One of the most ubiquitous types of decomposers in nature, brown rot fungi, has lacked robust genetic tools by which to manipulate genes and understand its biology. Brown rot fungi are primary decomposers in northern forests helping recycle the encased carbons in trees back to ecosystem. Relative to other microbes, these fungi employ distinctive mechanisms to disrupt and consume the lignified polysaccharides in wood. Its decay mechanism allows fast, selective carbohydrate catabolization, but without digesting lignin—a barren component that produces least energy trade back for fungal metabolisms. Thus, its efficient degradative system provides a great platform for developing sustainable biotechnologies for biomass conversions. However, progress has been hampered by the lack genetic tools facilitating mechanistic studies and engineering applications. Here, the laccase reporter system provides a genetic toolset for genetic manipulations in brown rot species, which we expect would advance relevant genetic studies for discovering and harnessing the unique fungal degradative mechanisms.

The existing mainstream report system in the market can meet the daily report generation. However, it is difficult to maintain the system later due to the poor satisfaction of its report personalization and the high front-end and backend dependencies. In order to solve the above problems, this paper studies the development idea of Vue components. The technical characteristics of Vue and the source code of the Axios framework are analyzed, and a visual component model is proposed in combination with the application scenarios and development process. The data transmission method of the components is clarified in the actual application layer, which enhances the control of the page in the front-end component development process. The ability to convert complex reports into the construction of visual components and the dynamic data components to obtain data effectively improves the reporting system's development speed and meets the needs of personalized reports. BACKGROUND: With the development of new technologies and the changing patient profiles, cytopathology departments receive increasing numbers of adrenal gland cytology specimens. In this study, the authors analyzed archival adrenal gland cytology cases and attempted to implement a diagnostic reporting system. DESIGN: Retrospective electronic medical record search was performed for adrenal gland cytology specimens in seven tertiary care centers. The cytology diagnoses were grouped in 7 categories: nondiagnostic, nonneoplastic, benign adrenal cortical elements (BACE), primary neoplasm of noncortical origin (NONC), atypia of undetermined significance (AUS), suspicious for malignancy (SM), and malignant (MAL). If available, histopathology results of concurrent and/or follow‐up biopsies and/or resections were documented. RESULTS: A total of 473 adrenal gland cytology cases were included. BACE cases comprised 21.8%, whereas MAL cases were 57.5% of all cases. For BACE and MAL categories, there were 100% and 98.9% correlation, respectively, in the cases with histopathology follow‐up. Six of 10 NONC cases had histopathology diagnoses and there were 3 pheochromocytomas and 3 schwannomas. Twenty‐one AUS cases had histology follow‐up and 10 (47.6%) of them were malignant. Six cases of SM had histopathology follow‐up, and all of them were malignant on the follow‐up. CONCLUSIONS: The authors propose a 7‐tier diagnostic scheme for adrenal gland cytology. The risk of malignancy was 98.9% in MAL cases (87/88) in the cohort. The only case with discordance was reported as "adrenal cortical adenoma with marked atypia"' on resection. There was no difference between endoscopic ultrasound‐guided and percutaneous methods. Further studies are needed to validate and make this approach universal.; Using a 7‐tier diagnostic scheme, the authors were able to accurately stratify the risk of malignancies for the indeterminant diagnostic categories. The primary neoplasm of noncortical origin category made it possible to isolate pheochromocytoma and its differential diagnoses from the other indeterminant cytologic diagnoses. Traffic crash fatalities and serious injuries still represent a big burden for most Arab countries because the actual policies, strategies, and interventions are based on poorly collected data. Through this paper, we assessed the crash data reporting systems in Fourteen Arab countries via a survey conducted to identify the fundamental dysfunctions at the management and data collection levels. Then, to address some of the dataset problems, we had applied data mining technics to select a minimum of variables (crash, vehicle, and road user) that should be collected for a better understanding of crash circumstances. For this raison, three methods of selection (correlation, information gain, and gain ratio) and seven classifiers (naive Bayes, nearest neighbour, random forest, random tree, J48, reduced error pruning tree, and bagging) were tested and compared to identify the variables that affect significantly the crashes severity. Decision trees family of classifiers showed the best performance based on the analysis of the area under the curve. The explanatory variables obtained from the data mining process were combined with other descriptive variables to maintain traceability. As a result, we produced hybrid lists of variables for the crash, vehicle, and road user, each contains 25 variables. Finally, in order to propose a cost-effective solution to switch from manual to electronic data collection, we got inspired by a tool used to track animals to create and customize a unified e-form for handheld devices, in order to ensure easy entering of the harmonized data for the entire region based on our selected lists of variables. The tool verified the countries requirements especially by enabling data collection and transfer with and without the internet, and by allowing data analysis thought its built-in Geographic Information System (GIS) capabilities.
