The newly discovered Xiaohongshilazi deposit located in Panshi City, central Jilin Province, NE China, is a medium-scale Pb–Zn–(Ag) deposit. The Pb–Zn–(Ag) orebodies are divided into layered and vein-type orebodies, which have different ore geneses. The layered Pb–Zn orebodies are mainly hosted within and spatially controlled by the volcanic rocks. To constrain the age and tectonic setting of the layered Pb–Zn mineralization, we completed laser-ablation–ICP–MS zircon U–Pb dating and whole-rock major and trace element analyses of the ore-bearing volcanic rocks. The dacite samples were confirmed as belonging to the Daheshen Formation and were the main ore-bearing volcanic rocks for the layered orebodies. They yielded concordia U–Pb ages of 278.1 ± 1.8 Ma and 278.3 ± 1.8 Ma, respectively, indicating that the volcanic rocks from the Daheshen Formation and related layered Pb–Zn mineralization were formed in the early Permian. The andesite and rhyolite located above the layered orebodies yielded concordia U–Pb ages of 225.0 ± 1.1 Ma, 225.3 ± 1.5 Ma, and 224.7 ± 1.2 Ma, respectively; these substances are considered to be of the Sihetun Formation and were first reported in the area. The dacite samples associated with layered Pb–Zn mineralization were high in SiO2 (62.54–65.02 wt.%), enriched in LREEs and LILEs (e.g., Rb, Ba, and K), and showed depletion in HFSEs (e.g., P and Ti). It showed slightly negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.60–0.65) and negative Nb anomalies, with Th/Nb (1.12–1.21) and La/Nb (2.8–4.7) ratios, presenting subduction-related arc magma affinity formed in an active continental margin setting. In agreement with previous studies on zircon Hf isotopes (εHf (t) = +0.23~ +10.60) of the volcanic rocks from the Daheshen Formation, we infer that they were derived from the partial melting of the depleted lower crust. In conclusion, mineralization characteristics, geochronological data, geochemical features, and regional tectonic evolution suggest that two Pb–Zn–(Ag) mineralization stages from the Xiaohongshilazi deposit occurred: the layered VMS-type Pb–Zn mineralization associated with the marine volcanic rocks from the early Permian Daheshen Formation, which was induced by the subduction of the Paleo-Asian oceanic plate beneath the northern margin of the North China Craton, and the vein-type Pb–Zn–(Ag) mineralization caused by the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate in the early Jurassic. Considering this, along with the mineralization characteristics of the same-type polymetallic deposits in this region, we propose that the early Permian marine volcanic rocks have great prospecting potential for the VMS-type Pb–Zn polymetallic deposits. The south‐east margin of the Xing'an–Mongolian Orogenic Belt (SM‐XMOB) is a tectonic junction that is characterized by widespread Late Palaeozoic to Early Mesozoic igneous rocks. To determine the tectonic settings and provide new constraints on the regional tectonic evolution, petrological, geochronological, geochemical, and Hf isotope analyses have been conducted on the Permian volcanic rocks along the SM‐XMOB. Zircon U–Pb geochronological data indicate that these rocks were formed at 271.4 ± 3.2 Ma and 268.3 ± 3.2 Ma during the Early–Middle Permian. Geochemical results suggest that the volcanic rock samples have 61.5–66.4 wt% SiO2 and 0.98–1.71 wt% MgO, and belong to the calc‐alkaline series, suggesting an affinity with fractionated I‐type granite. They also exhibit positive zircon εHf (t) values ranging from + 8.6 to + 14.7, indicating that the primary magmas were dominantly derived from partial melting of Early Palaeozoic juvenile lower crustal. These volcanic rocks show an enrichment in large‐ion lithophile elements (LILEs; e.g., Rb, Th, and U) and depletion in high‐field‐strength elements (HFSEs; e.g., Nb, Ta, Ti, and P), similar to that from an active continental margin setting. We therefore propose that the widespread Permian volcanic rocks in the SM‐XMOB were closely associated with the southward subduction of the Palaeo‐Asian Ocean (PAO) Plate to the lithosphere beneath the XMOB, and that the PAO had not closed prior to the Middle Permian in the SM‐XMOB. The Yangbishan iron–tungsten deposit, located in the central part of the Jiamusi Massif, Heilongjiang Province, NE China, is the oldest tungsten deposit in NE China to date. Both ore‐forming conditions and mineralisation characteristics indicate that tungsten mineralisation belongs to the skarn type. Petrography, microthermometric measurements and laser Raman spectroscopy of fluid inclusions in quartz grains associated with scheelite indicate that the ore‐forming fluid of the tungsten mineralisation in Yangbishan deposit belonged to the moderate‐temperature NaCl–H2O–CH4±N2 system. Fluid inclusion analyses indicate that ore‐forming fluid experienced decreasing temperatures and fluid degassing, inducing scheelite precipitation. Analysis of C, H and O isotopes of fluid inclusions within scheelite grains show δ13C values varying from −20.7 to −24.9‰, δD from −109.9 to −119.9‰, δ18O from 6.8 to 10.0‰ and δ18OH2O from 8.7 to 11.9‰. These data, together with C, H and O isotope compositions of the quartz associated with scheelite in tungsten ores, imply that ore‐forming fluid was derived dominantly from magma but influenced by organic material (reducing carbon) derived from wall rocks. Sm/Nd ratios of scheelite vary from 0.15 to 0.21, εNd (t = 520 Ma) values from −5.64 to −17.95 (average of −10.21) and TDM2 values from 702 and 2693 Ma (average of 2070 Ma), indicating the ores were sourced from ancient crustal rocks. The compositions of C–H–O–S–Pb and Nd isotopes support the fact that interaction between crust‐derived magma and strata rich in organics played an important role in the tungsten mineralisation of the Yangbishan deposit. The Xiaohongshilazi deposit located in central Jilin Province, Northeast China, is a newly discovered and medium‐scale Pb–Zn–(Ag) deposit with ore reserves of 34,968 t Pb, 100,150 t Zn, and 158 t Ag. Two‐stage mineralization has been identified in this deposit. Stratiform volcanic‐associated massive sulfide (VMS) Pb–Zn mineralization interbedding with the marine volcanic rocks of the Late Carboniferous–Early Permian Daheshen Formation was controlled by the premineralization E–W‐trending faults. Vein‐type Pb–Zn–(Ag) mineralization occurs within or parallel to the granodiorite and diorite porphyries controlled by the major‐mineralization N–S‐trending faults that cut the stratiform mineralization and volcanic rocks. To constrain the age of vein‐type Pb–Zn–(Ag) mineralization and determine the relationship between mineralization and magmatism, we conducted LA–ICP–MS U–Pb dating on zircon from the ore‐bearing granodiorite and diorite porphyries and Rb–Sr dating on metal sulfide. Granodiorite and diorite porphyries yield zircon U–Pb weighted‐mean 206Pb/238U ages of 203.6 ± 1.8 Ma (Mean Standard Weighted Deviation [MSWD] = 1.8) and 225.6 ± 5.1 Ma (MSWD = 2.3), respectively. Sulfides from four vein‐type ore samples yield a Rb–Sr isochron age of 195 ± 17 Ma (MSWD = 4.0). These results indicate a temporal relationship between the granodiorite porphyry and vein‐type Pb–Zn–(Ag) mineralization. The granodiorite associated with vein‐type mineralization has high SiO2 (68.99–70.49 wt.%) and Na2O (3.9–4.2 wt.%; Na2O/K2O = 1.07–1.10) concentrations, and A/CNK values of 0.95–1.04; consequently, the intrusion is classified as a high‐K, calc‐alkaline, metaluminous I‐type granite. The granodiorite porphyry is enriched in large‐ion lithophile elements (e.g. Rb, Th, U, and K) and light REE and is depleted in high‐field‐strength elements (e.g. Nb, Ta, P, and Ti) and heavy REE, indicating that it represents a subduction‐related rock that formed at an active continental margin. Furthermore, the granodiorite porphyry has Mg# values of 31–34, indicating a lower crustal source. Based on petrological and geochemical features, we infer that the ore‐bearing granodiorite porphyry was derived from the partial melting of the lower crust. In summary, mineralization characteristics, cross‐cutting relationships, geochronological data, and regional tectonic evolution indicate that the region was the site of VMS Pb–Zn mineralization that produced stratiform orebodies within the Late Carboniferous–Early Permian marine volcanic rocks of the Daheshen Formation, followed by mesothermal magmatic hydrothermal vein‐type Pb–Zn–(Ag) mineralization associated with granodiorite porphyry induced by the initial subduction of the Paleo‐Pacific Plate beneath the Eurasia Plate during the Late Triassic–Early Jurassic. Central Jilin is tectonically subordinate to the Lesser Xing'an Range–Zhangguangcai Range polymetallic metallogenic belt, an important region for Cu–Mo prospecting in NE China. Dozens of large‐scale molybdenum deposits, including Fu'anbu, Chang'anbu, Jide, and Dashihe, have been recently discovered in Central Jilin, whereas porphyry Cu or Cu–Mo deposits have not been found to date. One such example of an intracontinental porphyry Cu–Mo deposit is the Chang'anbu Cu–Mo deposit in Shulan, Jilin Province, hosted in early Yanshanian rocks. Here in this contribution, we described detailed geology based on our field observation and conducted a comparative study on the metallogenic epoch and the ore‐forming sources of the Chang'anbu Cu–Mo deposit by using zircon U–Pb dating and H–O–S–Pb stable isotopes. We propose that the Chang'anbu deposit is rare in the Lesser Xing'an Range–Zhangguangcail Range metallogenic belt and differs from other porphyry deposits that consist solely of Mo, indicating a unique mechanism of metallogenesis. Zircon U–Pb ages indicate emplacement of a granite pluton which is the main metallogenetic rock body during the Early Jurassic (182.10 ± 1.20 Ma). The pluton is spatially and temporally associated with Cu–Mo mineralization and led to large‐scale porphyry Cu–Mo mineralization during the early Yanshanian. Sulphur, Pb, H, and O isotope data suggest that magma generated by subduction of the Paleo‐Pacific oceanic crust was the main ore‐forming source of this deposit (206Pb/204Pb = 18.046–18.734; Pb207/Pb204 = 15.502–15.655; δ34S = 0.3–2‰; δDV–SMOW = −102.2–93.4‰; δ18OV–SMOW = 9.1–11.6‰). The Chang'anbu porphyry Cu–Mo deposit is representative of large‐scale polymetallic metallogenic events in Central Jilin that resulted from magmatism related to crust and mantle melting during the early Yanshanian. Abstract: The Yangbishan iron–tungsten deposit in the Shuangyashan area of Heilongjiang Province is located in the center of the Jiamusi Massif in northeastern China. The rare earth element and trace element compositions of the scheelite show that it formed in a reducing environment and inherited the rare earth element features of the ore‐forming fluid. The geochemical characteristics of the gneissic granite associated with the tungsten mineralization show that the magma formed in this reducing environment and originated from the partial melting of metamorphosed shale that contained organic carbon and was enriched with tungsten. In addition, in situ Hf isotopic analysis of zircons from the gneissic granite indicates that they probably originated from the partial melting of a predominantly Paleo–Mesoproterozoic crustal source. According to LA‐ICP‐MS zircon dating, the Yangbishan ore‐related gneissic granite has an Early Paleozoic crystallization age of 520.6 ± 2.8 Ma. This study, together with previous data, indicates that the massifs of northeastern China, including Erguna, Xing'an, Songliao, Jiamusi, and Khanka massifs, belonged to an orogenic belt that existed along the southern margin of the Siberian Craton during the late Pan‐African period. The significant continental movements of this orogeny resulted in widespread magmatic activity in northeastern China from 530 Ma to 470 Ma under a tectonic setting that transitioned from compressional syn‐collision to extensional post‐collision. The Shanmen Ag deposit, located in the southeastern part of the Siping area, Jilin Province, is one of the large-scale Ag deposits in Northeastern (NE) China. Almost all Ag orebodies, Ag-bearing quartz-sulfide veins are strictly controlled by NE-trending faults or brittle fractures and are hosted in the Yanshanian monzonite and quartz diorite. In terms of deposit geology, three mineralization stages are recognized: the pyrite-quartz stage (I), the quartz-Ag-polymetallic sulfide stage (II), and the carbonate-quartz stage (III). The research results of the fluid inclusions in the different stages indicate that the early stage (Stage I) mainly contains three types of fluid inclusions: liquid-rich two-phase (L-type), vapor-rich two-phase (V-type), and CO2 aqueous multi-phase (C-type). The fluid belongs to a medium–high temperature and medium–low salinity H2O-NaCl-CO2 system and has boiling characteristics. The middle stage (Stage II) is mainly characterized by liquid-rich two-phase (L-type) and vapor-rich two-phase (V-type) inclusions, in which the mixing of fluids of different nature leads to the escape of CO2. Only liquid-rich two-phase (L-type) inclusions are distinguished in the late stage (Stage III). The fluids of two later stages belong to the medium-low-temperature and low-salinity H2O-NaCl system. Homogenization temperatures from the early to late stages range from 272.2 to 412.5 °C, 124.1 to 313.3 °C, and 128.6 to 224 °C, respectively. Fluid salinities in the early to late stages range from 1.6 to 12.1, 1.4 to 8.9, and 0.4 to 5.8 wt.% NaCl equivalent, respectively. The gradually decreasing trends of homogenization temperatures and salinities and the reduction in the CO2 content indicate that the release of CO2 and the low-temperature environment are important causes of the precipitation of Ag-bearing minerals. The δ18OH2O values of the ore-bearing quartz veins in the different stages range from −3.7 to +8.1‰, and the δD values of fluid inclusions in the quartz range from −113 to −103‰, indicating that the initial ore-forming fluid was mainly derived from magma and that the input of meteoric water gradually increased during the mineralization process. The δ34S values (ranging from −11.4‰ to +1.8‰) and Pb isotope compositions (206Pb/204Pb = 18.143–18.189, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.543–15.599, 208Pb/204Pb = 38.062–38.251) of sulfides suggest that the ore-forming materials have mixed mantle and crustal sources. Therefore, we propose that the release of CO2 and the low-temperature environment are important conditions for silver minerals precipitation, and the mixing of fluids of different nature is the dominant mechanism causing precipitation.
